Ok we had songs now can we have VIDEOS! This I reckon is mighty hard because sometimes you've gotta ignore the music during a video to appreciate it & sometimes the video is perfect for the song.
1. Primus - Wynonna's Big Brown Beaver 2. Pearl Jam - Do The Evolution 3. P-Control - The Clown Song 4. Peter Gabriel - Digging In The Dirt 5. The Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up 6. Prince - Gett Off 7. George Michael - Spinning The Wheel 8. Metallica - Whiskey In The Jar 9. The Firm - Star Trekkin 10. Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal
Benny Benasi - Satisfaction was a bloody great clip!!
Fedde Le Grand - Put Your Hands Up For Detroit was also a good one even though the clip had nothing to do with the song.
Armand Van Helden - NYC Beat was good and gave a new meaning to apples.
Christina - Dirrty was a raunchy and fun video.
Guns n Roses - November Rain was a long one but had a decent story.
Robbie Williams - Rock DJ was an interesting one even though it makes me a little sick in the stomach when I see it.
Otherwise the ones mentioned above that I know of are good too.
Michael Jackson has had a few good ones too.
Nickelbacks songs often have a great story to them.
OK Go's - Here I Go Again with their routine on the treadmills was cleverly done.
Daniel Powter - Bad Day is one song I remember who's clip follows the lyrics to the song which I thought was great.
Pussycat Dolls - Buttons is a HOT video which I love watching when it comes on too but that's cos the lead singer is drop dead gorgeous in that one.
Videos I hate:
Rappers (most) who have to flaunt themselves dancing with random girls.
Singers who have numerous film clips with them singing at a concert.
songs like Here's Johnny which I don't know how to describe.
Any Frente songs where all you want to do is punch the idiotic singer in the head through the TV as well as the rest of the crappy band with their Wiggles performances.
I don't understand how they (Frente) were so popular, their songs were brutal!!
What on earth was Accidently Kelly Street goin on about and that went Platnium for God's sake.
Don't get me started on the other rubbish they debuted with, I used to think she was retarded especially when she sings the bit 'da da da day, da da da day...' And then that song ranks #20 of the year in 1992. How on earth did that happen?
Then a few years later she released another song and she was wearing a sleeveless dress and had very bad under arm hair which she revealed when she was swinging her arms around like a spastic!! It was revolting, I don't remember the song but it was a top 10 hit. The film clip was white and red mainly.
No offence to those of you that like Frente but they were pure rubbish and the video clips were even more so!!!!!!!!
Frente had credability. Ordinary Angels is a great pop song. However Accidentley Kelly Street dismantled them and made them look cheesy. Their remake of Bizarre Love Triangle also showed their decline.
Jason, you are hilarious... i was reading your posts and crying with laughter.
Rappers... BLING, CHICKS, CARS, DAHOOD, Y'ALL! Sean Kingston - Take You There performance on So You Think You Can Dance last night was hurrendous toasted black marshmallow came to mind.
Michael Jackson - Thriller. Madonna - Like A Prayer. Eiffel 65 - Blue (Da Ba Dee). Pnau - Wild Strawberries. Crash Test Dummies - Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm. Aqua - Barbie Girl. Aqua - Doctor Jones. Aqua - Lollipop (Candyman). Aqua - My Oh My. Shania Twain - That Don't Impress Me Much. Korn - Freak On A Leash. Daft Punk - Around The World. Brainbug - Nightmare.
i dont know if i could think of a top ten (too hard) but i have a few faves i thought id get other peoples opinions on basement jaxx- wheres ur head at duran duran- girls on film no doubt- its my life
and currently i find mariah careys touch my body a funny one
Lol, ben, your saying "Girls on Film" by Duran Duran is one of your favourite video clips reminds me of other controversial videos like "Smack My Bitch Up" by (The) Prodigy, and the ultra-tame, no-nudity (yet controversial) "Justify My Love" by Madonna. Oh, and "Windowlicker" by Aphex Twin. The start of that is hella funny.
* APHEX TWIN - Windowlicker (9 minutes of the most bizarre video you'll ever see) * MICHAEL JACKSON - Smooth Criminal (11 minutes of crazy moaning, cats on the piano and kids mimicing Michael) * MADONNA - Die Another Day (it cost Maddy a lot of dosh.. well worth it!) * THE CURE - Lullaby (bad props and effects but a fabulous video) * JUNIOR SENIOR - Move Your Feet (crazy animation) * HERBIE HANCOCK - Rockit (bad 80s props but an amazing concept) * BJORK - Army Of Me (Bjork is a legend... love the big Gorilla) * JANET JACKSON - Alright (features a cameo by Cab Calloway) * DAFT PUNK - Da Funk (the man in the Dog costume rocks!) * MISSY "MISDEMEANOR" ELLIOTT - Get Ur Freak On (the man who does the crazy splits between 2 walls is nuts!) * NINE INCH NAILS - Closer (the spinning dead pig still gives me nightmares) * A-HA - Take On Me (great illustrations...good song to boot!) * MARILYN MANSON - Beautiful People (this still freaks me out!) * BENNY BENASSI presents THE BIZ - Satisfaction (construction version - sexy women with powertools) * METALLICA - One (with movie clips from 'Johnny Got His Gun' - chilling) * MOBY - Porcelain (the shot of Moby's eye is amazing)
I'm from Australia and I know there's no Aussies listed above.... but can you find a noteworthy Aussie music clip?
Ok Aussies, let's see (Aussies are actually quite embarrassing when it comes to clips)!!
Nikki Webstar's Strawberry Kisses with the little alien man. Now C'mon that was a great video?
Or how bout Jenny Morris - Break In The Weather with her dancing around with those big statue hands and lips, I failed to understand that clip.
Paulmac - Just The Thing with all the kissing going on was a bit strange.
Ratcat - Don't Go Now brought a whole new meaning to bizzare!!
Silverchair have had some ok clips over the years. I don't remember which songs so maybe not.
AC/DC - Thunderstruck was an interesting one as was Powderfinger - My Happiness with the slinky.
TV Rock - Flaunt It and Youth Group - Forever Young both had decent clips relating to their songs.
And The Veronica's always have fun videos: There was the pool clip, the one they graffiti the car and the one with the croc in it where they have a massive party and it's a big mess at the end of the song. I don't really remember there latest clips (Guess I have Rage to thank for that).
I guess when we have artists like Teen Queens, Girlfriend, Peter Andre, Frente!, Euphoria, Danni Minogue, Melissa, Deni Hines, Joanne/BZ, Madison Avenue, Human Nature, Nikki Webstar, Young Divas (to name a few) with their pathetic dance routines finding a good standout Aussie clip is rare.
I guess if there isn't a good clip, it's a bloody good thing some of our rock artists can sing and have some great songs cos let's face it the Aussie talent of late has been pretty poor, especially with the bullsh*t that is Idol. Nothing memorable has come from that rubbish of a show over the past 5 years. I rest my case when I write Wasabi, what a sh*t song that was.
If Wasabi was shit! And I agree, wtf was with his follow up single Anything For You? How did the public of Australia allow a face like that to pollute our television screens, nevermind giving him a record deal. Great album btw, one of the worst produced of alllllll time!
Killing Heidi - Mascara. Chris Franklin - Bloke. The Androids - Do It With Madonna. Darren Hayes - Pop!ular. Rogue Traders - Voodoo Child. Vandalism - Never Say Never. Potbelleez - Don't Hold Back. Regurgitator - Polyester Girl. Pauline Pantsdown - I Don't Like It. Spiderbait - Calypso.
Also Lee Harding - Wasabi is one of the worst 1 hit wonders of the decade. Along with Rob Mills - Ms. Vanity, Stephanie McIntosh - Mistake & Dean Geyer - If You Don't Mean It. OH OH can't forget Scott Cain - I'm Moving On that was a shocker and anything from Mercury 4, Nikki Webster, Saddle Club (WONDERLAND (VOMIT)). I could just keep going.
nate i completely agree with you it was lucky for that lee harding that it was the quiet part of the year cos i doubt that that rubbish would have ever made it to #1 in any other case.
Beanster have to have Kylie's put yourself in my place up near the top, it was a sexy video even if i don't swing that way. Come into my world was pretty good. I reckon the others would be Sledgehammer-Peter Gabriel Let's get rocked - Def Leppard November rain - Gun's & Roses Why does my heart feel so bad - Moby Hold me, thrill me, Kiss me, Kill me - U2
I liked the clip to Murder on the Dancefloor by Sophie Ellis Bexta.
Some aussie film clips that were good were Stop Calling Me by Shakaya and Kiss Kiss by Holly Valance.
Hero by Enrique Iglesias was also an ok clip.
Elvis Vs JXL's A Little Less Conversation (the soccer clip) was great but then they replaced it with the boring clip that we are all familar with. Eminem's Without Me was a funny clip. Vanessa Carlton's A Thousand Miles, Linkin Park's In The End, Avril Lavignes Complicated, Tenascious D's Tribute were ok too.
My brother and his mates always used to go on about Christina Milian's When you look at me and Christina Aguilera's Dirrty both being sexy clips.
2002 was a great year in music as all the above songs were from that year.
michael jackson - thriller fatboy slim - praise you fatboy slim - right here right now the presets - my people and the silverchair one with this mutant pig looking character which had " a grinch" sort of sticking up nose
Here's my top 10 favourite music videos of all time:
1. Lil' Jon and the eastside boyz - Get low (remix) 2. Boogie Pimps - Somebody to love 3. Benny Benassi - Satisfaction 4. TLC - No scrubs 5. Kisschasy - Spray on pants 6. I'd like to add Gotye - Hearts A Mess.... Brilliantly stimulating Silverchair - Miss You Love Powderfinger - Passenger Regurgitator - ! Song Formaly Know As Grinspoon - Repeat Karnivool - Thamata..... Wicked Clip
Beck - Sexx Laws The Cardigans - My Favourite Game The Chemical Brothers - Setting Sun Regurgitator - Black Bugs Blur - Coffee and TV Supergrass - Pumping on Your Stereo No Doubt - Sunday Morning Nelly Furtado - I'm Like a Bird Ok Go - Here it Goes Again Daft Punk - Da Funk Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out Pulp - Common People U2 - Where The Streets Have No Name U2 - Vertigo Kylie - Come Into My World The Chemical Brothers - the Golden Path
1. TATU - All about us 2. TATU - All the things she said 3. TATU - Not gonna get us 4. Janet Jackson - Rhythm nation 5. KT Tunstall - Hold on 6. Janet Jackson - Feedback 7. Thirsty Merc - In the summertime 8. Lily allen - LDN 9. The White Stripes - The Hardest Button to Button 10. Muse - Invincible
I agree. "Kiss Kiss" by Holly Valance was crap, plain and simple. She can't sing very well and the video was just to make it look like she was nude under the lights shining over her breasts and nether regions. "Down Boy" wasn't much better, and then she went and tried to be credible with "Naughty Girl". It just didn't work, as did her lacklustre comeback in 2004 with "State of Mind".
Whoops, it was in 2003 Holly released "State of Mind". But, anyway, she did reach the top 20 with the single, but not even the top 50 with the album (#57).
Anyway, my favourite videos include pretty much all of Michael Jackson's short films/videos, "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough", "Rock With You", "She's Out of My Life" wasn't too great (pretty bland), "Billie Jean", "Beat It", "Say Say Say", "Thriller" (of course), USA for Africa's "We Are the World", "Bad", "The Way You Make Me Feel", plus the three from "Moonwalker" (1988), "Smooth Criminal", "Leave Me Alone" and "Speed Demon", "Dirty Diana", "Man in the Mirror", the live one for "Another Part of Me" is okay, "Black or White", "Remember the Time", "In the Closet", "Who Is It", "Jam", "Heal the World", "Give in to Me", "Will You Be There", "Gone Too Soon", his one with Eddie Murphy, "Whatzupwitu", was, er... strange to say the least, his "HIStory Teaser" was alright (not exactly a music video), "Scream" rocked, "They Don't Care About Us" (both versions were good), "Stranger in Moscow", "Earth Song", "You Are Not Alone", "Childhood (Theme from "Free Willy 2")", "Blood on the Dance Floor" (the Refugee Camp Mix, too), "HIStory (Tony Moran's HIStory Lesson)", "You Rock My World", "Cry", what is available from "One More Chance", and any ones I missed.
"Weird Al" Yankovic's videos are clever and funny too, Nelly Furtado's videos are enjoyable, The Smiths' numerous videos, of course, My Chemical Romance's videos (particularly the three from Three Cheers), Guns N' Roses' videos, some of Kylie Minogue's videos, and there are so many others, some of which I've discovered while watching Rage and Video Hits, and the other numerous newer music video shows. (Eclipse, Video Hits First, The Music Jungle, Hitz Blitz, So Fresh)
As I mentioned in the "Top 10 Songs of All Time" thread, I don't like to choose my top 10 and limit what I like and listen to because of it. In my post above, I mentioned those (pretty much all) of Michael Jackson's videos that I like, and those from other artists. I was not trying to compile a top 10 but rather share an opinion. I do believe other people who have posted in this thread have had a longer post, therefore it's rather futile to exercise future control over the topic.
A lot of Delta action happening around here lately..... I too would love to know these facts aswell Rob. And Sean, no probs about that at all, I think we should keep our headmaster caps away from the computer monitor.
The video for "Believe Again" was pretty good, very special-effectsy (lol). I don't think the actual song is better than "In This Life" though. I also like the video for "You Will Only Break My Heart", with all the different Deltas and all her fans singing and dancing. Quite funny.
Obviously nobody shares my view that Boys (Summertime Love) by Sabrina should have won a grammy for best video??
Seriously though, one of the best videos I have seen is a Massive Attack song where a foetus is floating around inside the womb and then suddenly starts singing along to the lyrics! Freaky stuff!! I think the song was called Teardrop.
1.Christina Aguilera & Redman - Dirrty 2.Britney Spears - Baby One More Time 3.Shakira - Whenever,Wherever 4.Kylie Minogue - Can't get you out of my head 5.Nelly - Hot in Herre 6.Justin Timberlake - Cry Me a River 7.Destinys Child - Bootylicious 8.Britney Spears - Stronger 9.Celine Dion - My Heart Will Go On 10.Steps -Tradegy
And some other favourites videos are:
Los Del Rio - Macarena Las Ketchup - The Ketchup Song Holly Valance - Kiss Kiss Delta Goodrem - Innocent Eyes Eamon - Fuck It (i don't want you back) Eminem & Dido - Stan
Christina Aguilera - Fighter Britney Spears - (You Drive Me) Crazy Britney Spears - My Prerogative Ricky Martin - She Bangs Jennifer Lopez - Love don't cost a thing
No Doubt - Hella Good Eve & Gwen Stefani - Let me blow ya mind Gwen Stefani - Cool Nelly Furtado - Turn off the lights Nelly Furtado - Say It Right Fergie - Glamorous Rihanna - SOS Pussycat Dolls - Buttons Black Eyed Peas -Don't Phunk with my heart
Britney Spears - Toxic Mariah Carey - We Belong Together Gwen Stefani - Early Winter Kelly Clarkson - Because of You Beyonce - Crazy in Love Natasha Bedingfield - These Words Garbage - Why Do You Love Me? Justin Timberlake - What Goes Around Christina Aguilera, Pink,Lil,Mya - Lady Marmalade
I'm not sure if these are necessarily my 10 favourite clips of all time, but here's 10 I really like (in no particular order):
1. Shakespears Sister - Stay I love when Siobhan comes down the stairs as the angel of death, and when she rolls her eyes at the end after the man is brought back to life as if to say, "Whatever... you can have him, I'll have him in the end."
2. Eurythmics - Beethoven (I Love To Listen To) Annie Lennox is brilliant as both the repressed, neurotic housewife, and as the vamp. It must have been so much fun to make the video, getting to basically trash a house in the process.
3. Bjork - Army of Me Totally crazy, I love the gorilla dentist.
4. Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence Showing that all you really need is a crown and a deck chair.
5. Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill Showing you don't have to mouth the words in a video, and you can be sexual without needing to dress like a whore.
6. Kim Wilde - Child Come Away For its general creepiness.
7. Garbage - Push It For the crazy imagery (nuns pulling off a robbery, a lightbulb-head man).
8. Fuzzbox - Self! Gold hotpants 11 years before Kylie, and simulating fellatio with a microphone a year before Madonna tried with a coke bottle. They all wish they could be half as hot as Vicki of Fuzzbox
9. Voice of the Beehive - I Walk the Earth Love the bright colours.
10. Aphex Twin - Come to Daddy Evil schoolgirls ahoy! Last edited: 30/06/2008 03:17
g'day, everyone seems to be choosing film/video clips from the mtv era. try checking out the ground breaking "promotional film clips" from the 60's eg. bob dylan's "subterrannean homesick blues" , the beatles "strawberry fields forever" , the beach boys " sloop john b" ,the who's "happy jack" etc. etc. the list goes on. some of you might be pleasantly suprised how cool some of these early clips really are.
Thought I would have a go at mentioning my 5 favorite music videos. 1. Evermore - Running (This video was filmed in 12 countrys in 16 days.) 2. Tenatious D - Tribute (A very funny video to watch.) 3. Coldplay - Yellow (Very few music videos have the camera in 1 place.) 4. Bob Sinclair - Love Generation (The kid riding his bike around the region is one to remember.) 5. James Blunt - Wisemen (Love the special effects with the fire.)
#10 – STEREOPHONICS – DAKOTA (2005) Dreamlike, no other way to describe it.
#9 – BLINK 182 – DAMMIT (1998) I usually hate overacting, but this is an exception. Blink take a clichéd ex-girlfriend story and turn it into an ridiculously silly riot!
#8 – BENNY BENASSI – SATISFACTION (2003) Do I really need to explain?
#7 – LIVE – LIGHTNING CRASHES (1994) The greatest exhibition of the power of stillness in a video.
#6 – BOMFUNK MCS – FREESTYLER (2000) Strangely captivating video of a guy going crazy with a remote.
#5 – RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS – OTHERSIDE (1999) Jagged shapes, discordant colours, and increasingly percussive movements – no video fits a song more perfectly.
#4 – SHAKIRA – WHENEVER, WHEREVER (2002) Never mind silver bodypaint, cloning, volleyball, aerobics, flight attendants, marching bands, businesswomen, black-and-white beaches, butterfly women, skin peeling off, or the boundary-pushing efforts of Fountains Of Wayne and Duran Duran – this is my vote for sexiest video of all time.
#3 – U2 – ONE (1991) – black-and-white buffaloes version A black screen, with the word “one” in various languages. Brilliant.
#2 – EIFFEL 65 – BLUE (1999) Absolutely hilarious video of an Italy-based trio’s bizarre experience in trying to rescue a kidnapped member from a planet of deranged blue aliens.
#1 – THE FRAY – HOW TO SAVE A LIFE (2006) The greatest – whether it’s a group of kids trying to come to terms with the loss of a loved one, or Dr Cox trying to restart the heart of a patient whose transplanted organs were infected (I know the latter is not a music video).
2002 had some great video clips, one of my favourites being "Point of View" by DB Boulevard, you know, the box song. It was a masterpiece for that time!
Yeah I agree, 2002 featured lots of great videos - my favourites:
Basement Jaxx - Where's Your Head At? (hilarious, 2nd best of 02) David Franj - Oxygen DB Boulevard - Point of View DJ Sammy - Heaven (strangely interesting) DJ Sammy - Boys of Summer Elvis vs JXL - A Little Less Conversation (soccer version) Eminem - Without Me (very funny) Lifehouse - Spin Michelle Branch - Goodbye to You No Doubt - Hella Good Shakira - Whenever Wherever (best of 2002) Tenacious D - Tribute (very funny) The Calling - Wherever You Will Go U2 - Electrical Storm Last edited:
I could probably mull over this for weeks and come up with more every day. A lot of good videos before me, a few surprising omissions. Top five videos ever; 5. Teardrop - Massive Attack - bizarre - and compliments the song perfectly. 4. Baby Got Back-Sir Mix A Lot - I agree with previous comments about the appalling standard of rap videos but this is just a hoot - giant prosthetic butt cheeks anyone?? 3. Stinkfist-Tool - creepy 2. Garden Of Eden-Guns N Roses - Basic principle but just gets me - well suited to the 100mph, lyrically illegible nature of the song. 1. Just-Radiohead - the video got me into the song (and it's a great song). Video still spins me out and I'll start thinking about it at the oddest of times.
Honourable mentions to the following in no particular order; Satisfaction-Benny Benassi No Surprises-Radiohead Come To Daddy-Aphex Twin Coffee & TV-Blur Sabotage-Beastie Boys Hardest Button To Button-White Stripes Institutionalized-Suicidal Tendencies Alright-Supergrass Hot For Teacher-Van Halen Nick The Stripper-The Birthday Party Wicked Game-Chris Isaak (Helena Christensen version) Don't Come Around Here No More-Tom Petty Liar-Rollins Band Buddy Holly-Weezer Fell In Love With A Girl-White Stripes Hey Ya-Outkast Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad-Moby

1 - Lady Gaga - Paparazzi 2 - P!nk - Please Don't Leave Me 3 - Lady Gaga - Love Game 4 - The All American Rejects - Gives U Hell 5 - Katy Perry - Waking Up In Vegas
also a video that deserves a mention. The Pussycat Dolls - "Hush Hush" a very sexy clip. Last edited:
1. Taylor Swift - You Belong With Me. 2. Nickelback - I'd Come For You. 3. P!nk - Please Don't Leave Me. 4. All-American Rejects - Gives You Hell. 5. Asher Roth - I Love College.
Some All TIME favs:
My Chemical Romance - I'm Not Okay. Good Charlotte - Chronicles Of Life And Death. The Veronicas - 4ever (Original Australian Pool Version). Ludacris feat Mary J. Blige - Runaway Love. Nizlopi - JCB Song. TATU - Gomenasai. P!nk - Family Portrait.
1. Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)- Beyonce 2. The Fear- Lily Allen 3. Jizz In My Pants- The Lonely Island 4. We Made You- Eminem 5. Please Don't Leave Me- P!nk
Never been in this thread before. Some of my favourite clips ever (that come to mind right now) are:
The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony. I always stop and watch whenever I see it, I'm just fascinated as he bumps into people, jumps on cars and doesn't care. I'd love to walk down a street like that, just once.
Panic At The Disco - I Write Sins Not Tragedies. I'm just really amused and intrigued at the same time. I still don't really know why the groom ends up as the new leader of the troupe of circus freaks after seeing his bride cheating on him, but I don't care. Her face as she's caught with the mime is great, with all the paint and lipstick on it.
Daniel Powter - Bad Day. I find this really cute. I don't know why, probably just because I like the song so much, but I really like watching as the guy and the girl become a couple. I especially like the part where they take it in turns to draw on the advertisement, and the guy counteracts every depressing thing the girl draws.
Nickelback - Savin Me. I really like the idea of the countdown clocks above everyone's heads, and watching as the guy figures out what's happening and that he can stop it by saving someone.
OK Go - Here It Goes Again. Do I really need to explain? It's just a cool clip, such a simple idea and done so well.
The Androids - Do It With Madonna. I really like when all the fake popstars start fighting, and then the massive fake Madonna waddles in and takes over. As someone who is sick of Madonna, I'm amused by that. As well as the fake Lynne Spears getting ridden by fake Madonna.
Kylie Minogue - Did It Again. I always stop to watch this one too. It's the original idea for the Do It With Madonna clip, with all the different Kylie's in a line-up and they start fighting. I always though 'Cute Kylie' was the best Kylie has looked. I also like her clip for Confide In Me.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Murder On The Dancefloor. I just love watching as she sabotages everyone else in the competition and gets away with it. Awesome!
There are plenty more which will probably come to me at some point, these are just what I've got for now.
The best of 2009 so far (that immediately come to mind
1. Short Stack - Sway Sway Baby. I find it really funny, it's ridiculously over the top, but it is a soap opera parody so it's meant to be.
2. Pink - Please Don't Leave Me. I love watching to see what she'll do next to keep that poor guy stuck in the house with her. Awesome.
3. Lady GaGa - Paparazzi. Nice to see a video with a story like this. I like seeing her ridiculous outfits, especially the mouse (?) one when she offs her boyfriend.
4. Taylor Swift - You Belong With Me. A cute film clip with a nice story. I didn't realise for such a long time that the 'evil' girl in the clip is just Taylor in a brunette wig. She looks so different.
5. Tommy Trash - Need Me To Stay. Not so much for the two girls showering together and washing each other, but more for the fact that when they get electrocuted they keep dancing for a couple of minutes.
G'day, here's a couple of golden oldies that i enjoy watching :
Subterrianean Homesick Blues - Bob Dylan 1965 Sloop John B - The Beach Boys 1966 Paperback Writer / Rain - The Beatles 1966 Happy Jack - The Who 1966 Break On Through (To The Other Side) - The Doors 1967 Arnold Layne - Pink Floyd 1967 Stawberry Fields Forever - The Beatles 1967 The Unknown Soldier - The Doors 1967 Hey Jude / Revolution - The Beatles 1968
Back in the 1960's Video Clips where know as "Promotional Film Clips" and appeared on various music programes of the day eg. "Ready,Steady,Go" , "Top Of The Pops" etc.
The clips i've listed above are some of the earliest clips ever made in this medium, worth checking out
A couple more clips that I love that I remembered about.
Travis - Sing. This is one of my favourites of all time, and its just for the cheap humour. Posh people at a dinner party getting caught up in a ridiculously over the top food fight. It's so much fun. The lobster getting stuck on the woman's hat, the slow motion shot of the octopus flying through the air down the table and splatting into the lady's face. It's just great.
Nickelback - Someday. Even though it's not an original 'twist' ending and I predicted it coming, I still really enjoyed watching the story of it unfold, and working out exactly what had happened.
1. Franz Ferdinand - Can't Stop Feeling 2. Friendly Fires - Kiss of Life 3. Friendly Fires - Skeleton Boy 4. David Guetta/Akon - Sexy Bitch 5. The Snowdroppers - Rosemary 6. Franz Ferdinand - Ulysses 7. Muse - Undisclosed Desires 8. La Roux - Bulletproof 9. Vampire Weekend - Cousins 10. White Rabbits - Percussion Gun
I gotta say, in no particular order... these are the ones from this year
Single Ladies, She Wolf, You Belong With Me, So What, Hot N Cold, Poker Face, Did It Again (CHECK IT OUT ON YOUTUBE AWESOME!), my life would suck, we mdae you, miss independent.
Remember everyone that somewhere amongst the depths of Australian-Charts.com there is a 'Best Music Videos of 2009' thread for everyone to post their fav videos of the year in, and there's also a decade one in there somewhere.
1 Masquerade - Guardian Angel 2 Steve Earle - John Walker's Blues 3 David Bowie & Lou Reed - White Light / White Heat 4 The Casuals - Jesamine 5 Guns N Roses - Paradise City 6 David Soul - Silver Lady 7 Anne Murray: Snowbird 8 Frankie Laine - Cry of the Wild Goose 9 AC DC - Dirty Deeds 10 Elvis Presley - Promised Land (Chuck Berry) Last edited:
I loved the clip way back when it was released, and I still do to this day. It's the reason I like the song so much. The big musical production of the whole thing works so well, and everytime I watch, I just have to pick on the one woman in the umbrella circle who puts hers up far too early, then keeps bumping into all the others as they twirl. Should have been fired! I love this clip.
01) Evanescence - Lithium 02) the jacksons - can you feel it? 03) Lady GaGa - Telephone 04) Panic!
