For a straight third week, Lady GaGa's second single remains at the top of the Australian Singles Charts. It's been No.1 in New Zealand for the past three weeks, and is so far Top 5 in Canada and Sweden, and rising in Norway. Her next single "The Fame" is currently climbing below the Top 50.

With a No.2 debut on the Download Chart, the winner of Australian Idol for 2008, Wes Carr, makes a national debut at No.3 with his catchy song "You". But with the CD Single out this coming week, it could mean a rise for "You" next week. He is the highest new entry on the charts this week, the other three I'll talk about soon.

With only Wes Carr's single entering the Top 10, Katy Perry's "Hot N' Cold" drops out of the Top 10 this week, and only P!nk's "Sober" rises back to it's previous peak of No.9, with the rest either moving down or remaining stagnant for this week.

With albums by Kanye West, The Killers and Coldplay (Re-Packaged) coming out this week, it has helped their respective singles rise back up the charts. The Killers are the biggest climbers of the week, up 17 places to No.28 with "Human", whilst Kanye's "Love Lockdown", which had been floating in the 31 to 40 section for the past 9 weeks, by-passes the 20's to leap eleven places to No.19 this week. And Coldplay, who have the biggest climbing album see their single "Viva La Vida" go back up the charts ten places to No.37.

The second highest new entry of the week is the theme to the 22nd James Bond film "Quantum of Solace", which opened in cinema's last week. "Another Way to Die" is a duet between Jack White and Alicia Keyes, and is the first Top 50 Bond theme since Madonna's "Die Another Day" hit No.5 in November 2002.

Jessica Mauboy performed her new single "Burn" at the wet-and-windy Australian Idol Grand Final on the steps of the Sydney Opera House last weekend, and it debuts this week at No.30. The CD Single is out this week, so expect it to climb next week, whilst her other single "Running Back" is still inside the Top 10 at No.7 this week. Also see below about her album debuting this week.

Akon has appeared on the charts during 2008 on four previous occasions, but never as the lead artist, always the guest. But this week his latest single "Right Now (Na Na Na)" debuts at No.41. It's his 14th chart appearance, and was a guest on tracks by Michael Jackson, Lady GaGa, Nelly and Kardinall Offishal during the year.

(updated after 6:30pm AEDST)

Last year one album dominated the No.1 position, The Eagles' "Long Road Out of Eden", which stayed at the top for six non-consecutive weeks, and now P!nk's "Funhouse" seems to be doing the same, spending it's fifth week at the top, and also gaining another Platinum status (4x = 280,000+). And also by remaining for a fifth week, she moves into equal second place for longest running album of 2008, now equal with the "Mamma Mia" Soundtrack, and one week behind Jack Johnson's "Sleep Through the Static". With sales for multiple shows of her 2009 tour happening over the past couple of weeks, this album will be around for quite some time yet.

Also gaining an extra Platinum status this week is the album "Only By the Night" by Kings of Leon, which is at No.2 for another week, as too is their single "Sex on Fire", and their other single "Use Somebody" is at No.4 for a second week.

The highest of six new entries to the Top 50 Albums this week is "Chinese Democracy" by Guns N' Roses, coming in at No.3. The sixth album from this former LA Group is their first new material in 15 years, whilst their last appearance on the charts was their 2004 Greatest Hits set. All of their previous albums are listed below...
18-Sep-88*HP-07*WI-85 - Appetite for Destruction
08-Jan-89*HP-18*WI-45 - GN'R Lies
29-Sep-91*HP-02*WI-53 - Use Your Illusion 1
29-Sep-91*HP-01*WI-62 - Use Your Illusion 2
05-Dec-93*HP-01*WI-12 - The Spaghetti Incident
04-Apr-04*HP-06*WI-47 - Greatest Hits

Debuting right behind GN'R at No.4 is the fourth album The Killers, "Day and Age". It debuts higher than their previous album, but not as high as their first two. The lead single from the album is the highest climber on the singles chart, "Human" is up to No.28. Their previous chart efforts have been...
15-Aug-04*HP-01*WI-63 - Hot Fuss
15-Oct-06*HP-02*WI-32 - Sam's Town
25-Nov-07*HP-06*WI-06 - Sawdust

Also debuting with a fourth album is Kanye West, who enters at No.12 with "808's & Heartbreaks". His 2004 album "The College Dropout" did not make the Top 50, but his second album "Late Registration" managed to climb to No.14 during it's 28 week chart run. His September 2007 album "Graduation" debuted and peaked at No.2 in it's first week.

With two singles in the Top 30 this week, Jessica Mauboy debuts at No.16 with "Been Waiting". She has previously charted with a compile of the songs she performed on Australian Idol, that album "The Journey" made it to No.4 in March 2007.

Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" is the highest climbing album of the week, as it's been re-issued with a bonus 8-track set of songs that were left off the album, plus with an upcoming tour in March 2009, it has helped it climb back up 22 places to No.18 this week. The actual 8-track was also issued as a separate release, and "Prospekt's March" makes an entry at No.50 this week.

Gavin Ryan.

==========================================

Brandon, I don't know about sales figures, so I can't answer your question, sorry mate.
Hey Bulion, Do you know the chart posiitons for "Shadows" by "The Getaway Plan"

Ay positions on the following charts would be helpful. I can only read from issue 977, so any issue after that would have it's info

ARIA Singles Chart
ARIA Physical Singles Chart
ARIA Digital Tracks
ARIA Australian Singles

Any help would be cool. Thanks
Physical CD's, not EXTINCT yet!!

according to news.com.au

The humble CD is not heading for the grave just yet with new figures showing sales have soared in the last six weeks.

According to the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), CD sales from the six weeks from the end of October were 22 per cent higher than the same time last year.

And top five album chart sales more than doubled from the same time in 2007.

ARIA head Ed St John said he hadn't seen such high figures around the Christmas period in more than four or five years.

"We always get a lift at Christmas but this is out of the box and much earlier than normal," St John told AAP on Thursday.

In recent times, number one albums have been selling about 8,000 units a week, but that has increased to about 20,000 or 30,000 now, he said.

St John, who is also the head of the Warner Music label in Australia, said the industry was surprised by the figures given the continual rise of online downloading and piracy.

"We stopped expecting really significant lifts in sales," St John told AAP.

Interestingly, the trend is not being replicated overseas.

And it also comes at a time when the retail market is struggling due to tougher economic times.

"Maybe it's because music is a good price or maybe people particularly need entertaining at the moment," St John said.

The higher sales have come thanks to offerings from US band Kings of Leon, veteran Aussie rockers AC/DC and US superstar Pink.

It is expected to keep increasing until Christmas with new offerings from the likes of Dido, Beyonce, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga.

But whether the comeback can be sustained further down the track was uncertain, St John said.

"I think it's driven by a particularly good bunch of records out there that have got people motivated," St John said.

"Time will tell how long it lasts, but it's pretty good while it lasts."

Bulion, if it isn't too much trouble can you also tell us who the winner is with the most correct guesses in the top 20?

So what I mean by this is if 18 of my predictions are in this weeks top 20 no matter if I have predicted them in the correct positions or not then I would get 18 points?

Again, only if it isn't too much trouble?

I thought it would be interesting as we've all predicted such different songs especially in the lower reaches of the top 20. (Just Dance, Let It Rock, Circus, Gotta Be Somebody, Whatever You Like, Get Shaky, Walking On A Dream, I'm Yours, Love Lockdown, Shut Up & Let Me Go, Fall For You & Burn have all been predicted but not by everybody so we've all predicted quite differently).

Would be interesting to see if someone guessed the correct 20 songs in this weeks top 20.
Will try and do that Josh...

=========================================

The charts came through late today, so I will fill in the rest of the details soon. But for now that's all I can provide.
I haven't had time to put my predictions in this week. However the overall predictions look good so I will go with them.
NEW ENTRY

40 - Right Now (Na Na Na) - Akon

* Akon has appeared on the charts during 2008 on four previous occasions, but never as the lead artist, always the guest by Michael Jackson, Lady GaGa, Nelly and Kardinall Offishal

* It's his 14th chart appearance, and his first new track since "Sorry, Blame it on Me' hit No.27 in November 2007

* His new album "Freedom" is out in stores on Monday.
What song did he do with Lady Gaga & Nelly?
39 down 3 from 36 - Shake it - Metro Station
Not a fan of this Akon song at all. Good to see it's not doing to well on the charts.
Akon had credit on some of the versions of "Just Dance", and "Body on Me" with Nelly.
Any info yet on how many new entries and re-entries?
38 down 5 from 33 - Dance Wiv Me - Dizzee Rascal
Thanks Bulion. I don't remember that Nelly song and I never really noticed Akon being credited on Just Dance. I only noticed Colby O'Donnis.
I am being fed the charts a bit at a time, so no news as yet.
Wow, Dizzee Rascal seems to be falling rather quickly.
2 New Entries, one we've already heard of, the other is in the 20-11 section.

only Re-Entry up next
Re-Entry

37 - Rehab - Rihanna

* Hit No.37 three weeks ago, then dropped out of the Top 50, sitting at No.52 and 51. Now she rises for another stint in the Top 40 rehab at No.37 again.

I will be doing the chartifacts for Nova, and also doing the site at the same time, so forgive me if I'm running behind today. Charts just came through 5 minutes ago.
STOP BEING RIHANNA'S MUSIC PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

SHE IS BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2008 HAS BEEN A RIHANNA OVERLOADED YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not a big fan of this Rihanna song. I hope it isn't a hit.
36 down 2 from 34 - Superhuman - Chris Brown

biggest dropper up next...
This Chris Brown song has been a big dissappointment. His other songs were fairly decent hits this year but this is nothing special.
YAY, DISTURBIA. ABOUT TIME IT FALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DON'T BUY IT PEOPLE AND HOPEFULLY IT'S OUT OF THE CHARTS SO WE WONT HAVE TO HEAR IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HATE DISTURBIA WITH A PASSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I WILL EVEN ADMIT THAT WOMANIZER IS 1000 TIMES BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!
Biggest Dropper

35 down 8 from 27 - Disturbia - Rihanna
GAB do you mind?? Some of us actually like Rihanna, so settle down!!
34 down 2 from 32 - All Summer Long - Kid Rock

Yeah, Gab, saying womanizer is 1000 times better is a bit much!

btw, hey all, sup?
33 up 4 from 37 - Viva la Vida - Coldplay

* The album of the same name is up 4 places to No.14 this week.

Last edited:
I hope Britney's album makes it to the top 3!
I would predict a #2 debut for Brit's album. I don't think she can topple Pink right now.
32 down 4 from 28 - Human - The Killers

* This single is down 4 places, as too is their "Day & Age" album,
down 4 places to No.8 this week.

31 not moving from 31 - That's Not My Name - The Ting Tings

==========================================

These fell out of the Top 40 this week:

38 - Take Back the City - Snow Patrol
39 - Decode - Paramore (will go back in when "Twilight" is released to Cinemas)
40 - Closer - Ne-Yo
Isn't Vanessa Amorosi releasing a third single from her debut album in 9 years, "Somewhere In The Real World"?
Tings Tings level out? I thought they would be goooone this week.
Hey Everyone, where at another weeks end... I don't mind if Wes Carr - You goes to #1. Though it will only spend one week on top which means it really doesn't deserve it... also it's now #4 on iTunes which is a sign it could make an early exit.
How did everyone go in their predictions this week bulion...?
30 up 5 from 35 - Kids - MGMT

* After 2 weeks at No.35, the "Kids" are up into the Top 30, and
their other single will be up soon.

1 1 FUNHOUSE P!nk
2 2 ONLY BY THE NIGHT Kings Of Leon
3 Ne CIRCUS Britney Spears
4 6 BLACK ICE AC/DC
5 Ne UNESSENTIAL LISTENING Hamish & Andy
6 5 DARK HORSE Nickelback
7 3 CHINESE DEMOCRACY Guns N' Roses
8 4 DAY & AGE The Killers
9 7 HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3: SENIOR YEAR Soundtrack
10 8 THE PROMISE Il Divo
Still doing Nova chartifacts Nate, so when I finish those (soon), I'll update the predictions list.
Pink AND KoL hold out the Britters? Ye-ouch!
Hello everyone!!

Bulion, the list of Top 10 Albums above,
is that your predictions, or the official list
29 not moving from 29 - Another Way to Die - Jack & Alicia

official list Brandon
CONGRATS BRIT! I was hoping for #2 but it's not that bad considering how huge P!nk and KOL are here.
Such a shame, "Circus" isn't No.1.

Can you please post facts about her previous 6 records,
and how they charted.

Spears has never achieved a No.1 album in Australia,
is that correct??
Pink - Funhouse & Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night are the two highest selling albums to date in 2008... It will be a close battle between the two hopefully Pink won't get deja vu... I'm Not Dead had to settle for the #2 album postion due to Michael Buble in the final week of charting...

Other potential high placings i would think are Coldplay, AC/DC, Presets, Mamma Mia Soundtrack, Metallica, Chris Brown, Rihanna & Veronicas.
Wow, I thought Brit would of debuted at #1 on the album chart.

Good to see The Ting Tings have a quiet week this week. Also good to see MGMT move up?

What is causing Coldplay to rise? They are not on tour so is there something else aiding their rise?
Brandon just look them up in the site...
*Baby One More Time peaked at #2 - platinum 4 times
*Oops! I Did It Again peaked at #2 - platinum 3 times
*Britney peaked at #4 - platinum twice
*In The Zone peaked at #10 - platinum
*Greatest Hits peaked at #4 - platinum twice
*Blackout peaked at #3 - platinum
*Circus debuts at #3

All but one of her albums has gone top 5!!

28 down 2 from 26 - Talk Like That - The Presets

Coldplay rising could be due to album repackaging, tour annoucement/ multiple sell outs, or the publicity over the alleged plagiarism concerning that song.
Jack, Coldplay are rising due to tickets going on sale, and possibly also the return of 90210, which uses "Viva la Vida" as it's opening theme.

Plus the album has been repackaged with the bonus "Prospekts March" EP too.

Albums released by Britney Spears in Australia:

1.Baby One More Time (#2 peak)

2.Oops! i did it again (#2 peak)

3.Britney (#7 peak)

4.In the Zone (#10 peak)

5.Greatest Hits: My Prerogative (#4 peak)

6.Blackout (#3 peak)

7.Circus (#3 peak, subject to change)

So that's 5 Top 5 Albums, and 7 Top 10 albums, overall.
Nate, how do you know Pink & Kings Of Leon have the highest selling albums of '08?

Bummer seeing The Presets fall again. This is such a great song.
Brandon i just posted that, but 'Britney' peaked at #4.
So that's 6 top 5 albums & 1 top 10 album.
Last edited:
Wow, thanks Knowlsey,

I thought that Britney peaked at #7,
well #4 is even better.

Do you like Beyonce Knowles?
27 down 5 from 22 - Electric Feel - MGMT

* Their new single "Kids" was up 5 places to No.30 this week, whilst their first single is down 5 spots this week.

Yea i love Beyonce, seen her in concert too. No i'm not related to her lol.
Hey Bulion,

are you legally allowed to reveal if "Circus"
went <G> or <P> in it's first week.

And what is the No.1 Album on the Physical Album Chart?
Sorry Rihanna lovers. I just find her over-rated. I don't usually like to bitch about people. She just annoys me and I was stoked her song fell this week. =0)
Some Info..

Pink - Funhouse - has spent 6 consecutive weeks at the top spot in week one she sold the most units in one week this year 86.000. The album has sold over 20.000 units every week there after.

Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night - has not left the top 3 in a massive selling period is also selling around 20.000 units per week.

*Earlier in the year albums were seliing 10.000 units.

AC/DC had the highest for there first week 83.000 units they were knocked off by pink. before them was Coldplay or Metallica both were very close.

As for the others i mentioned... Presets have been in the top 30 all year rihanna and chris brown have had lots of hits this year which has meant the albums have quick selling bursts...

26 down 3 from 23 - I Don't Care - Fall Out Boy

* Their new album "Folie a Deux" is out next week, December 15th
and their next single is available to download from next week,
it's called "America's Suitehearts" (correct spelling).

Bulion or anyone else that knows, do u know when the 2008 year end cut off will be?
Brandon, don't have the physical sales charts until after 6:30, but "Circus" did debut on <G> status.
Yeah, i'm a big Beyonce fan.

"Iam Sasha Fierce", debuted at No.1 on the
U.S Album chart.

Anyway, Pink's "Funhouse" album, should
remain at No.1 for the rest of the month,
because of the Xmas sales rush.

The Killers, Nickelback, and Guns N Roses,
didn't manage to peak at No.1, that's surprising.

Has Katy Perry's
physical single ""Hot N Cold", been cancelled,
or pushed back.
Well this week sees Pink, Fallout Boy, Beyonce, Secondhand Serenade, TI/Rihanna, Natalie Bassightwaite & Kanye West enter the top 100 selling singles list of 2008 over this past week flushing out a Veronicas song and a Kanye West song but not sure which ones.
25 down 5 from 20 - Fall for You - 2nd Serenade
See ya everyone!!

I have to go to work, bye!!
Damn, I really like Secondhand Serenade's song. Shame this didn't rise. I bought the single this week too.
24 down 5 from 19 - Love Lockdown - Kanye West

* After jumping 11 places last week, his Love Lockdown falls from
it's No.19 peak, whilst his "808's & Heartbreaks" album is down
8 places to No.20 this week.

With every song that goes by, Jessica Mauboy's rise is getting more and more impressive.
There are two equal biggest risers this week, one is coming up soon

I am in a postin mood today...

Rihanna has cropped up numerous times over the past few weeks.

I personally dislike her vocal style... however the way her more upbeat tracks are produced is outstanding... Pon De Replay, SOS, Umbrella, Don't Stop The Music. Are instant classics which will stand the test of time.
Her whiny vocie on Unfaithful, Take A Bow, Hate That I Love You leaves much to be desired...
But because of her dominance since 2006 which has made her a household name it is annoying people.
I have 12 of her songs registered in my data base as proper hits with only We Ride and Rehab not counting....
Wow, Hinder & The Fray have new songs coming out. Looks like we'll have some big hits in early 2009.

Bummer to see Kanye West fall after a big rise last week. This is one of few Kanye West songs I like.
After seeing Kanye's new clip for Heartless, I am even more hopeful of another big hit for him.
I take it Jessica Mauboy - Burn & Ian Carey Project - Get Shaky and the equal two biggest rising tracks...
Pon De Replay was an awesome song. Should of been a bigger hit. I bet if she released it now it'll be a #1 hit.
EQUAL BIGGEST CLIMBER - Up 7 Places

23 up 7 from 30 - Burn - Jessica Mauboy

* Jess has the equal biggest climber of the week, but she also has
the biggest dropping album, as "Been Waiting" falls 11 spots to
No.27 this week.
Kanye's next single is gonna be "Heartless", it's already charting in the US, and I really like it
I finally heard this today, and I am surprised to say that I really like both of her songs. She is making the music other stalling starlets should be making.

I have noticed Kanye charting slightly, but it ain't Gold Digger or Stronger big yet... with time, I hope.
22 down 4 from 18 - Whatever You Like - T.I.

One thing I have to say I hate about the new charting format is that we don't have time to enjoy new singles because the artists release follow up singles rather quickly. Britney, Coldplay, Rihanna, Beyonce & now Jessica Mauboy. I wish they wouldn't release singles by the same artist so close together.
Easy there Rhys. I think that's the one song which peaked at the position it deserved. The rest of them have peaked better than they deserve IMO.
All I need is Empire of the Sun to be #21 and I will have all 20 songs in my predictions. W00t!!!

As for the new charting style, I am a fan... dunno why, just am!
Has Whatever You Like had a physical release or has it been charting soley on digital sales?
21 up 3 from 24 - Get Shaky - Ian Carey Project

* Almost a Top 20 single for this remixer/producer. It should crack
the Top 20 next week, and be entrenched their for summer.

Digital only on Whatever You Like Jack
Dang! This song is rising slower than I expected.
Wow, Just Dance is still in the top 20. Thought it would of dropped to #21 or 22.
So Warner, released Live Your Life to capitalise on the featured artist in Rihanna by releasing that single physically first?

Whatever You Like should of had a physical release. A peak of #13 is excellent for digitals alone. It could of gone top 10 with physicals.
20 down 3 from 17 - Just Dance - Lady GaGa

* Halfway through the countdown, and the Lady is in the middle of
it all. Will she also be on top of the chart-pile this week??

* Clinton, Colin, Martin and Grogsta got this right.

=========================================

Overall Predictions tally:

9 = Colin and Sally (new predictor)
8 - Grogsta
7 - Henry, Clinton, Nate and Martin
6 - BeansterBarnes, Josh and Brandon
5 - Qwerty
4 - Brandon
3 - BillBeast
1 - BlueZombie

No one predicted 20 songs inside the Top 20, the highest was 19 from most people.
Kevin Rudolf & Lil' Wayne - Let It Rock is #19 equal biggest riser i am guessing...
Just Dance surely has to be in the top 5 biggest hits of 08?

I think it has even passed Gabriella Cilmi, Rihanna, Jordin Sparks/Chris Brown & Katy Perry.
SECOND BIGGEST CLIMBER - Up 6 Places

19 up 6 from 25 - Let it Rock - Kevin Rudolf

* Finally making strides up the charts here in Australia, it's already been a No.2 single in Canada, and is at No.15 in New Zealand.

* NO ONE got this right, but 12 out of 14 people put it around this position in their predictions.
Why is Empire of the Sun rising again? Has it been in an ad or something?
Good to see The Empire Of The Sun score a new peak. Something different to the #19 or #20 peak that The Presets, Fall Out Boy, Secondhand Serenade, Kevin Ruldolf & Lil Wayne, Flo Rida & Kanye West hold.
OLDEST SONG ON THE CHARTS - 23 Weeks

18 down 3 from 15 - I'm Yours - Jason Mraz

* The Soundtrack to the TV Series "Packed to the Rafters" debuts
at No.11 this week, which this song is featured on.

* Only Colin got this one right.
I'm Yours is a great song. Glad it was a big hit in Oz.

17 down 1 from 16 - Gotta be Somebody - Nickelback

* "If Today Was Your Last Day" is their next single off "Dark Horse" which is at No.5 this week.

* BeansterB, Martin and Rebecca got this one right.
16 up 5 from 21 - Walking on a Dream - Empire of the Sun

* After bouncing around the 19 to 21 mark for the past four, weeks, the empire charges up 5 places to a new peak of No.16 this week.

* NO ONE got this right, although Brandon did put it at No.15.

15 - Circus - Britney Spears

* The title track from Britney's 6th studio album, which debuts at No.3 this week.

* She also celebrated her 27th birthday on Tuesday, the day the
new album was released.

* This is now her 20th Top 40 single in the past 9 years.

* Henry, Josh, Sally and Rebecca got this one correct.
Sorry Britney fans but I have to say another ordinary release from Britney. I really hope that it isn't a hit.
14 not moving from 14 - I Hate This Part - Pussycat Dolls

* BeansterB, Colin, Josh, Qwerty, Sally, Martin, Rebecca and Grogsta got this one right.

13 down 1 from 12 - Alive - Natalie Bassingthwaighte

* Her new single "Someday Soon" will be released January 10th.

* Colin, Brandon and Grogsta got this one right.

12 down 2 from 10 - So What - P!nk

* After 15 weeks inside the Top 10, Alicia Moore spends her 16th week on the charts outside the Top 10 for the first time. So What she says!!

* Clinton, Colin, Grogsta and BillB got this one right.
Good to see this finally out of the top 10. I hope it has some big falls in the coming weeks as I'm really sick of it.
11 not moving from 11 - Hot N' Cold - Katy Perry

* I did ask EMI this week if this had actually been released as a physical single, they said yes, but in a limited amount (which I said was stupid). So if you can't find, don't fret as they said remixes will most likely appear on the next single of this track.

* Henry, Colin, Josh, Nate, Qwerty and Grogsta got this right.
Has Hot N Cold been certified yet? I would think it could have gone Platinum by now
10 down 3 from 7 - Running Back - Jessica Mauboy

* Her new single "Burn" was one of the two biggest climbers this
week, it was up to No.23, and the other big climber on the charts
will be up very soon.

* Colin, Josh and Sally got this one right.

No certification changes to Hot N' Cold this week Clinton.
9 down 1 from 8 - Womanizer - Britney Spears

* Brit's had a very busy birthday week, what with launching her
new album "Circus", she made a guest appearance at Madonna's "Stick and Sweat" show in LA, appeared at the Bambi Award in Germany, performed on the TV show "Star Academy" in France, and performed "Womanizer" on Britain's "X-Factor" show.

* Colin, Josh, Nate, Sally and Brandon got this one right.
8 down 2 from 6 - If I Were a Boy - Beyonce

* We haven't heard from her "Single Ladies" track yet, but it is up soon.

* BeansterB, Colin and Brandon got this right.

I can see these songs sticking around the top 20 for a few weeks as there is nothing set to replace them as it's a slow time of year for new releases.
When Pez song "The Festival Song" release and make it in the charts?
7 up 2 from 9 - Sober - P!nk

* "So What" fell out of the Top 10 this week, but her new single
"Sober" hits a new peak of No.7 this week, thanks in part to the CD Single being out in stores now.

* Only Martin got this one right.

Stefan, there has been no release of that song in Australia as yet. Which record company is it with in Europe?
Physical singles don't give singles a big boost in the top 10. Last week Sober was charting at #9 on digitals alone, with physicals included it only moves up 2 spots to #7.

If it was in the lower part of the chart it would of had a bullet.
EQUAL BIGGEST CLIMBER - Up 7 Places

6 up 7 from 13 - Single Ladies - Beyonce

* Her "If I Were a Boy" single was at No.6 last week, but falls to No.8 this week, but rising 7 places is "Single Ladies", so she is at No.6 again this week, but with a different tune.

* NO ONE placed this higher than No.7 in their predictions, so no one got this one correct.

* There were four people who got the entire Top 5 correct, they will be revealed soon....
Last edited:
Is this based on digital sales only or does it get credit for the CD single?

How does it work?
5 down 3 from 2 - Sex on Fire - Kings of Leon

* After 3 weeks at No.2, the sexual-fire for the Kings of Leon is
going out, but they are spending their 10th week inside the Top 5.

* Henry, Clinton, BeansterB, Nate, Sally and Rebecca got this right

Single Ladies is downloads only at the moment.
4 up 1 from 5 - Live Your Life - Rihanna

* With the re-entry at No.37 of Rihanna's "Rehab" single, she again has 3 single inside the Top 40. Although T.I. could have a third single charting soon, if his guest spot on Jay-Z's new track
"Swagga Like Us" ever makes the charts!!

* Henry, Clinton, BeansterB, Nate, Sally and Rebecca got this right

3 up 1 from 4 - Use Somebody - Kings of Leon

* They climb one place higher with this second single from "Only
By the Night", which is spending it's 5th week at No.2.

* Henry, Clinton, Colin, Nate, Qwerty, Sally, Martin. Rebecca and Grogsta got this right. The 2nd most correctly predicted song of the week (9 out of 14).

2 up 1 from 3 - You - Wes Carr

* The CD Single is now out in stores this weekend, so maybe Wes
can climb to the top next week??

* Henry, Clinton, Nate, Qwerty, Sally, Martin, Grogsta and BillB got this one right.

No.1 for a FOURTH week - Poker Face - Lady GaGa

* Cementing the fact that 2008 is the year of the ladies at No.1, as Lady GaGa spends her 4th week at No.1, and takes the total
tally for females at No.1 during 2008 to 37 weeks, the most ever in Australian chart history!!

* 12 out of 14 people predicted this to stay at the top. Colin and Rebecca had it at No.2, everybody else said No.1.

* Henry, Clinton, Nate and Sally were the 4 people who got the entire Top 5 right.
gossip: Next week will be Jabba's last show as host of the Motorola ARIA Chart Show.
Hi all. I'm back. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU AUSTRALIA. How could you put stupid Gaga at #1 instead of local guy Wes Carr. This country needs to get it's act together man.
Interesting gossip bulion I had no idea next week is Jabbas last.
Yeah, Jabba has already finished doing his Mon-Fri nightly show several weeks ago, and when I spoke to him today, he said that next week is his final.
Lifter100 shut up. I hate how people think we should support an artist just because they're Australia. How about he puts something out that people actually like.
Stefan - "The Festival Song" has entered the chart at No. 73 this week.
I suppose I did over react a bit it's just that Poker Face is driving me nuts and it would be good to have an Australian at #1 for a change.
I hope Wes Carr doesn't go to #1. Nothing against him personally. I just hate the show and don't like how the biggest hits of the year are from the Australian Idol contestants. Good on Gaga. It's a clever and great song IMO.
On the ARIA chart website in the Australian Aritsts bit Running Back - Jess Mauboy was forgotten to be placed in there. What idiot forgot to put it on the chart?.
