Three of their songs have peaked at number two on my chart: Halo/Walking on Sunshine, Somebody To Love and Don't Stop Believin'. With a huge number of their songs getting into my chart.
Currently I have Defying Gravity, Lean On Me, Don't Stand So Close To Me, Rehab and the three aforementioned songs in my top 100.
Ive only ever had two of their songs charting on my Top 20/50. Don't Stop Believin' (#11) and Keep Holding On (#17 debut). Never seen the show, that kind of TV genre doesnt interest me. They can sing good, that isnt the issue there. Its just ensemble bands like Glee or High School Musical acts doesnt grab me very well, unless the song is very unique.
If High School Musical is the reason why you aren't watching Glee timfoxxy, may I suggest you reconsider. It's not like High School Musical at all. A lot of the songs are performed as a choir act during rehearsals or competition. The number of musical type moments are less often than you would imgaine. And some songs are actually used as background music. I actually find it to be a very funny and dramatic show.
Hey 392, I never said HSM is pure bullshit. I just said Glee isn't like HSM in the fact that while HSM is a true musical - people breaking out into song and well choreographed numbers, Glee is presented more like a choir singing with only the occassional true musical moment rearing it's head.
For the record I don't mind HSM, but then I'm a big musical fan and with musicals not being made all the time or me having access to a true theatre musical experience. I have to take what I can.
But I do tune into Glee more for the humour than the music, but there have been some awesome musical moments like Don't Stop Believin', the mash ups, My Life Would Suck Without You, Mercy and Rehab.
I think their version of Like A Prayer keeps the epic feel of the original. I often find that Glee songs work a lot better with the visuals, so I always hold off deciding if I like a song or not until after I've seen how it is performed.
I've been unable to hear the full version of the Hell-O songs as I'm waiting for the episode to air to help the songs chart as high as possible. ButI will definitely purchase Like A Prayer after the Madonna episode airs to support that song, even though I've already got it buy purchasing the phyiscal album.
I look forward to the impace Glee will have on the charts and chuckling at all the negative comments people will throw at them.
I absolutely agree BillyBrett ... I made the unfortunate decision of downloading some of the songs from Hell-O before I watched the episode BIG MISTAKE! I hated Gives You Hell but now I love it... it's the timing within the episode that makes it so appropriate and poignant.
Even for a hardcore Glee fan, I was overwhelmed by the Madonna songs ... they were amazing! Like A Prayer, Vogue, Like A Virgin and Open Your Heart were all performed great and it leaves me excited for the upcoming episodes of the season
bulion, Hello Again is performed by Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison)
392m the Madonna songs used are Express Yourself, Borderline/Open Your Heart (Mash-up), Vogue, Like A Virgin, What It Feels Like For A Girl and Like A Prayer with a bonus song available through iTunes - Burning Up. Looking forward to watching it tomorrow was out tonight, and then downloading the songs and watching them impact our charts. Based upon world charts, Gives You Hell should be the big charter from this episode, but I wouldn't rule out something else as Australia often has other songs chart better than the rest of the world.
There was no cast member performing the Neil Diamond song "Hello Again", it was actually performed by Neil Diamond from "The Jazz Singer" movie and soundtrack (the film they were gonna watch when the ex walked in). It was Will performing a move on his laaaady with the song, not Will actually singing it to her.
I hang my head in shame bulion. I was basing my knowledge off wikipedia and I've only just got around to watching Hell-O this afternoon. I did feel like a fool while that scene was happening.
And Mykl you are right, 4 Minutes is in the episode, how could I forget that one. It also features actual Madonna songs being piped into the school corridors like Frozen and Justify My Love, while the Cheerios perform to Ray Of Light.
I would like to know what is going to happen to this episode in Belgium since Frozen is banned from being played on radio and television or feature on any of her CDs. Guess they might have to substitute another song for that little scene.
The Belgian courts decided that the tune to Frozen plagiarized some old Belgian folk tune. You could say Frozen is Belgian's version of the Down Under issue. Last edited:
lol mykl, there probably from the 1700's or something (the tune), if they were after money they would of demanded 3 gold pieces and the first sons hand in marriage
Anyone know why iTunes has skipped a week on the Glee songs. Australia has access to this week's song, then skips all of the following week's (Total Eclipse Of The Heart, Run Joey Run etc) and has available the week after's song (Jessie's Girl, One, The Boy Is Mine)?
everyone get excited (especially you mykl ) i just read in my local tv guide that Coldplay have offered there entire back catalogue to Glee for a future episode
Nobody is too good to be covered by Glee. And considering Coldplay and Bryan Adams were the only ones to have denied their songs in the first season, it appears people are happy for the exposure Glee gives their music. You can't tell me that Coldplay aren't money hungry to explain their change in attitude. So now it's only Bryan Adams who has denied.
LOL thanks for the heads up Chris. Some of Coldplay's stuff is quite lacklustre, so Glee could bring some life to it... but, they've never released a song better than the original so chances are slim.
If Glee make a Coldplay episode - it will be the most boring Glee episode yet, I don't know how they could glee up the depression that is Coldplay music (pun intended).
I'm sure Glee can do without Bryan. Heck they could do another Madonna episode seeing as though she has granted access to her WHOLE back catalogue, she has so many huge songs that have the potential to be given the Glee treatment.
Mykl, I would argue that Lea Michele's cover of Don't Rain On My Parade was better or at least equal to the original. I love me some Barbra - loooove me some Barbra - but this is my honest opinion.
alleyt I agree with your opinion on the boringness of Coldplay - they really are extremely overrated. Thankfully I don;t think they are going for a Coldplay episode, just the use of a song in one episode.
There is talk that there will be an episode where Mr Shue encourages his group to write original songs (to test the waters of the TV viewers) apparently Dianne Warren and Ryan Tedder (or whatever his name is from One Republic) have written a song each for the 2nd season. That's according to the rumour mill.
I say touch GaGa with all their might. I quite enjoyed their 2 GaGa songs even if it meant giving more attention to the Fame Whore Monster.
Yes, it is Ryan Tedder. I'm interested in hearing original songs, but I honestly think they'd be quite crap, they probably should just stick to covers.
She's not a famewhore, and I didn't like their covers much. The originals:covers in the ratio 569269825368052602:1
sorry but Santana killed Bad Romance, I love her to bits.. Hopefully the character Britney can get a song or two.
Imagine a duet Telephone!? hahaha
Basically all I want them to do is a Britney Spears song BUT... If anyone deserves a episode dedicated to them it's her and MJ... and apparently there is two next season so hopefully it's them.
I think an MJ special would be great, not so sure on a Britney special - I just think her range of songs and shorttime in the industry would allow for a variety of songs. She would be better off getting the treatment GaGa got - 2 songs within an episode.
If Glee was Australian or European I could definitely see having a Kylie special work, she has been around for nearly as long as Madonna and her songs cover a wide range of styles and has a depth of varitey from cheesy to rock to danc to unadulterated pop. It could work well, unfortunately America is pretty much meh on her so it wouldn't work.
My guess is one of us will be performed by New Direction. And I'm pretty sure Britney is duetting with Brittany on Me Against The Music (although that's based purely on gossip).
The Only Exception is a head scratcher but perhaps it has something to do with Will not wanting to the group to do Britney songs or something.
Really? I thought it was one of their weakest episodes. Especially musically. The plot and humour was great, the songs were very plain and too pandering to the hot songs of the moment
I normally like the musical output especially when they choir up a song, but this week's episode's songs were weak. Way too much white boy rapping to be enjoyable
From the start of the show and some exceptions, the music was the highlight, but from the recent episodes, the music is very average, but the humour is great as in the start. Now to go see when the DVD's released.
DVDs were released this week. You can buy the complete first season, or if you got part 1 earlier this year you can purchase just part 2. You can even get a free shirt if you buy the complete season from Big W
we have that and it says something like 'Gleek' or 'I'm a Gleek' - pretty good brgain.
Haven't watched the whole episode, but Charice's version of 'Listen' is amazing! I agree with the white boy rapping, they should have recruited an actual rapper for the second season, so that people wouldn't have to sit through Mr Schuester rapping again! Or worse, ARTIE!
Listen was performed brilliantly. I enjoyed the performance of What I Did For Love but couldn't really work out why that song was chosen excpet to show off Lea's vocals. Telephone was amusing in its execution. I would have preferred a better visual performance of ESOM to build on the pretty impressive bop bops of the song. But I think it was too much white boy rap to justify having billionaire performed the same ep as ESOM OR maybe they should have just done the ALicia Key's only version of ESOM.
Fun episode but I prefer the songs to be more integrated into the plot that shamelessly ripping off a video clip. Still I did think they did a stellar job with the songs. Toxic may be my new fav song of the moment. Love when they truly show choir up a song, like they did with Toxic.
If New Directions can deliver a performance like their Toxic routine at Regional they will win. Now that is show choir. As opposed to them just standing there and walking form spot to spot.
I watched it tonight. I found it pretty meh actually. The Britney "performances" were okay, but the idea of the dentist Britney fantasies was all just stupid.
I felt it was a very strong dramatic episode. And showed that the show isn't just about the laughs - even though there were some great little throwaway lines. Only disappointment wasa Bridge Over Troubled Water - I get what they were doing with the gospel choir but I felt it lost the original melody too much. I quite enjoyed the integration of the songs this week. Lot more musical in their presentation that what has been on display lately. Lots of thought provoking discussions as well. This week was more about the story than the songs, for me anyway. And lots of shamless tugging on the heartstring.
i LOVE i want to hold your hand taken from ácross the universe', i thought it was a brilliantly placed song - i agree will botw though, it could have had a real glee feel and a showstopper but instead it sounded weak and went nowhere. i also liked 'losing my religion' which i thought was good considering finn's voice can sometimes be a little óff' and irritating - and i didn't hear any autotune with this one which is always a bonus!
i'd just like to say next week's episode 'Duets' is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! hands down my favourite episode yet, and by far my favourite or Season 2.
BB.. I suppose it's strong and dramatic, but their storyline attempt turned out pretty boring for me. Don't call me heartless (well, do if you like ) but I didn't find all of the religiousness and praying interesting.
Hope so alley, the last couple of episodes have been a little low...
I've hearf that the next episode - the one being shown om Monday is going to be the last new episode shown in Australia this year. Anyone else heard this?
They might surprise you Daniel. I sometimes feel people here instantly dislike a Glee song because it is Glee without actually listening the song. Last edited:
From last night's episode 'Never Been Kissed' I feel the best song was Teenage Dream. The Dalton Academy glee club captured the emotion of the song. I also think the girls had the better performance out of the boys and girls last night?? Has anyone seen it yet?!
Yeah I heard they're covering that one and another Bruno Mars song off his album, interesting choice?!
yes alley it seems the other one is called 'Marry You'
loved last nights episode, i could see the gay kiss coming when Kurt followed the bully into the locker rooms. apparently that was a very tight secret during filming as they wanted people to think it was one of the guys from Dalton.
BillyBrett not too sure, there will be at least another 5 episodes for the year i think, and there is a Glee Christmas album coming out so i hope that they show that around Christmas time
I agree alleyt that Teenage Dream was the best performance. Mainly because I prefer it when the songs get the show choir treatment with the music pretty much being replaced with the bah bah bah and oohs. I'm less inclined to like the straight forward karaoke approachment as it doesn't add anthing to the song per se.
I disagree with who won the comp though. Mainly because I thought the boys arrangment of the mash up was smoother and better arranged than the girls mash up. The girls song seemed to be more Livin On A Prayer with the words Start Me Up shouted just to make it sound like a mashup. Or maybe I have just projected a boys win as I thought since I liked the girls one last year more than perhaps I want the boys to win.
I was speculating that that person was a closeted gay person, but I didn't expect it to be revealed as soon as it did.
Finger crossed Ben that what I read is untruem, cause a) not only would it suck not to get the 5 eps and have to wait till the new year but b) why move Glee to Monday if it's only for one week.
I was saying the same thing last night in the chat BillyBrett, that Teenage Dream was sensational with the choir treatment. Also the vocals were very good (much better than Katy - and I am a fan).
Also I thought the boys were much better than the girls, especially that the two songs blended better, but I thought it was because I love Free Your Mind so much.
wlv, the advertisement and the end of last week's episode said that from 22/11, Glee is on Mondays. Shouldn't that mean that there's an episode today (17/11), and then from next week, rather than being on Wednesdays it's on Mondays (22/11, 29/11, etc).
I wouldn't be surprised if the move came from advice from Sony to help improve the chart performance of the songs. Plus Ten needs something to fill in the Junior Masterchef spot.
And 392, if TEN did what you suggested, there would be no episode for Monday. Glee airs Wednesday morning our time
Sony? Doesn't the X Factor winner receive a recording contract with Sony? Why would they want Glee at the same time as X Factor final then? They'd lose sales from both.
Good point 392. I have another point though, aren't Sunday nights THE best time to air a show? If this was the case then Ten would move the show to this time after Junior Masterchef is finished to gain even more viewers (not that it needs any more).
I would agree anton, I've always seen Sunday nights as the prime time, and weekday nights as less prime prime time. I don't know why the X Factor final is on a Monday.
I've never seen anything as to why it is being moved. Sunday nights used to be the big night, now the highest rating night of the week is Tuesday but that is more about the shows on Packed To The Rafters/NCIS/Top Gear.
I downloaded/stole the 7th episode as I couldn't wait. Great episode, almost as good as last weeks. Love the substitute's part in it (whatever her real name is).
I only suggested Sony was involved because if you look at the placing of the songs on our charts. After the episode airs it has pretty much only 1 day of sales. And then the rest of the sales are in the chart that follows. On Monday at least you are getting 3 solid days of sales possibly allowing the song to chart higher than what they are.
Sorry if I confused you 392, but I didn't mean to imply that Sony wanted to stop any X Factor success, to be honest I don't think Glee's one week flash is any competition for X Factor's 2 week flash Sony is going to make money off Glee no matter where it is in the schedule, but you do have to admit it would be more impressive to have more Top 20 hits than Top 50 hits.
yes its Gwyneth Paltrow, her version of forget you went to No.1 in the US itunes store, and has just landed in the australian top 50 3 days ahead of its tv screening
Songs: Conjunction Junction (from the TV series School House Rock) Forget You (original Cee-Lo Green) Make 'em Luagh (from the film "Singin' in the Rain") Nowadays/Hot Honey Rag (from the musical "Chicago") Singin' in the Rain/Umbrella (from the flm "Singin' in the Rain"/ mashed with the Rihanna track
yeah well thats what i thought, but i think its billed like that beause Finn starts the song to sing it to Kurt in the episode (Kurt & Finn's parents get married) And Finn uses it at the wedding to apologise to Kurt im pretty sure
OMG 392 you are right #29, and #30 were brilliant! I have to say I'm really enjoying Season 2. It's heading in the right direction and although it has become less of a comedy in my eyes, they are tackling some tough themes (bullying, homophobia etc.). Furt and Duets are probably my favourite episodes of Glee so far (along with Sectionals last season).
Umm, I know the scene, I have wasted five hours of today watching the episode over and over , but yes, that's what I suppose, but it's as stupid as the collaboration of Brian McFadden, Delta Goodrem and Delta Goodrem on "Mistakes."
Yay! Season 2 didn't start of the best, #23 (Audition) was great, but #24 (Britney/Brittany) was kind of weird, and #25 (Grilled Cheesus) was so boring. #26 (Duets) got better, and the last four, particularly the latter three of those (#27. The Rocky Horror Glee Show / #28. Never Been Kissed / #29. The Substitute / #30. Furt) are all great. I like the direction they're going in. I sort of found Season 1 to have a bit too much of a focus on relationships drama, with all the random hook-ups & Quinn's pregnancy, but I feel there's been less of an emphasis on relationships in the recent few episodes and more of an emphasis on other themes, such as anti-bullying. I also feel that putting Sam & Quinn together and him proposing to her signifies they don't want more relationship drama on Quinn's part, as I doubt she'd accept it and then break up with him lol. [/ununderstandablerambling]
I don't. A Kurt/Karofsky relationship would be messed up in every way possible, especially after what happened in the past episode. I expect some sort of Kurt/Blaine relationship though, now that he's transferred there.
They've already performed the songs and the episode has been aired, so I suggest using the past tense.

What? AU gets a repeat on Monday? Of which ep? Probably to make this half-season go for a longer amount of time, since 10 episodes is quite short. Last edited:
It's the episode titled Mash Up. From the previews its the one where Puckleberry is created.
I don't get TEN's decision to stretch it out though. It's non ratings season AND they really do need to show the Christmas episode before Christmas. Surely Sony has applied some pressure to TEN as they want to milk as much money from the Christmas album this year and not try to sell it in the middle of February when it returns.
Maybe the plan is to have a 2 hour finale the following week maybe??
i can understand what your saying billybrett and theres a couple of sides to the story. channel 10 have been "fast tracking" Glee episodes and like Modern Family have been throwing these shows around everywhere. Glee has been on Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday and Monday. And same goes for Modern Family which they have been playing Sunday/Tuesday and i think even Wednesday possibly. As of last Saturday (27th November) the official ratings period ended, so officially "Furt" which aired here on Monday even though it was the highest rated show of the night it dosent count towards ratings. if they save the episodes for next February then they will but this is the predicament you end up with when you "fast track" something. of course like you said a lot of Glees success is based on sales and a Christmas episode with an Soundtrack to go with it really SHOULD be aired before christmas ratings period or not. its really up to channel 10. Last edited:
It would've made more sense if (I've Had) The Time Of My Life was sung at the end... Also, Glee's charting positions are doing well on Mondays, as there are more days to buy a single. What if Glee was played on Sunday night?
Hmm, that's weird BillyBrett. Yeah, I know that one, it's where Will tries to make a mash-up of the Thong Song and something else for Emma and Ken but fails. I have no idea why they're playing that.
The Christmas episode would be played on the 20th if they don't have another week of/repeat/delay etc, right? So that's still before Christmas at least.
I have watched a few episodes and my fav performances have been 'river deep, mountain high', 'time warp' and 'forget you' even though I'm not a Gweneth fan I like that one. I like Britney and Santana the most and hope they get more screen time. Rachel is annoying and her voice is good but I am over it. I like they are now sharing the singing around more.
Glee is so f**king gay that they steal songs from artists that are better than those teens and never give f**king permission. That show is stupid. And in the words of Gleesuckie:
How is great delight attracted to other nouns of the same gender? I don't think nouns even have genders in English. *Sigh*, what are they teaching in kindergarten now
stevometal you are aware that Glee is not allowed to perform the songs they do without permission from publishing companies and the artist. If they do, they will get sued.
who caught the new episode of Glee 'The Sue Sylvester Shuffle' - what did you think of it?
Great thing is that this episode was shown on Sunday night in the USA (after Super Bowl) and it's only two more days until the next episode 'Silly Love Songs'!!!!
By the way, Glee scored it's highest audience ever with The Sue Sylvester Shuffle - 26.8 million people tuned in!!! It will be interesting to see what happens on Tuesday's episode - obviously it will be a massive dip but I hope it can stay around the 14 mil mark, which will still make it higher than any other episode.
Good news for Glee fans, after watching the S&M video (the first half, I couldn't watch the whole thing), Rihanna has catapulted herself to #1 on my Worst Artist of All Time list! Pushing Glee down to #3 (they peaked at #1), Kesha sits at #2.
I was able to find an LQ of the Super Bowl ep last night, which I really liked. It's not really a normal episode, they had to make changes to make sure it's suitable for the NFL audience, a standard episode would just lose a lot of potential viewers and make the cost of that timeslot unworthwhile. The plot was good, I liked the whole Sue/Britney/cannon thing, and most of the performances were good.
THAT IS GREAT NEWS antonnalan, next step is to make them chart in your top fifty!!!
392, I really enjoyed Thriller/Heads Will Roll. Although I hate Thriller for being overrated (in considering all Michael Jackson songs), I liked the way that they did it, and Artie sounded much better than Finn would have. Not my favourite Yeah Yeah Yeah's track either but still used very well. Need You Now was relatively predictable and sadly Rachel oversung it again, although not as bad as songs like 'The Only Exception', but it was still nice. Didn't like She's Not There and loved Bills Bills Bills, although I don't think it fit!
All things considered it was a pretty good episode but I'm really looking forward to 'Silly Love Songs'!!! WHEN IS REGIONALS? That's what I want to know. By right it should be on this week's episode or next week's since last school year The Cheerleading Nationals were at the same time as Glee Club Regionals.
Has anyone seen Silly Love Songs! What a great episode!!! But I'm still bewildered as to when regionals is. What did y'all think of it? Great songs, Firework and Silly Love Songs were great and I thought it was the perfect balance of humour, drama and character development. It is my second favourite episode of Season 2, but could easily become my #1 if I watch it a few more times...
Hey guys, so they have posted the two original Glee songs for the upcoming episode 'Original Song' on youtube. The two tracks are entitled 'Loser Like Me' and 'Get It Right'. It is the first proper radio single... check it out...
Loser Like Me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDVAEIajri4 To me it's quite Avril inspired (not to mention Lea's vocals kinda sound like Avril). It's quite fun and summery which may help it on the charts in the States...
Get It Right: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcDBQNmtUWw&feature=related A beautiful ballad that really matches Lea's voice, and it's great that they've chosen not to have this one as a duet! I feel that it is more emotional than a lot of their other works, but I mean there's no original to compare it to so that could be the big difference. This track sounds a little country-inspired which may weigh it down internationally but I still think it's good! And a great ballad!
that's true although to be fair, the emmys have generally snubbed glee so i wouldn't be surprised if they do the same this year! i personally hope season 3 is their last season. i don't like the thought of the writers having to rebuild the show from scratch with a new cast, there's only so much you can do.
hmm, I think glee could work as a replacement thing, every 4th season sees a new cast - it wouldnt take long for the transitions to be rather smooth as well, I would be fine with it as well as the characers were good.
makes sense otherwise season 3 would be a little redundant. what's your thoughts on a new cast billybrett? i'm really hoping they don't because i can feel it's popularity beginning to wane and also because i don't want them to cover every single hit song from the past 20 years (i know that's an exaggeration but you get what i mean...)
still a gleek though, new episode tuesday night in the states
If they slowly change the cast I can deal with it, probably. But a massive shake up (like Graduation) probably won't sit well with me, and I'd be likely to tune out. Cause that's when storylines would really start to be recycled. Personnaly Season 3 sounds like a good time to stop the show, even High School Musical realised that 3 bites of the cherry was enough
I'm already at the stage where I'm longing for the original 6 to be front and centre as opposed to all the back up Gleesters who have hit the front. I mean Tina is an original 6 and she has yet to be fleshed out, in fact I think Brittany is a more developed character than Tina at this stage.
I also want Kurt to return to WMHS. The show is not handling the two different schools well, Kurt's having very little to do and I swear Kurt is only over there because of the sales that The Warblers bring with iTunes. I can easily solve that problem by making New Directions sing like The Warblers. It's not like they didn't sing like that (but with musical accompanyment) in Season 1. Kurt needs to go back to the gang so there are no more jarring musical moments like Bills, Bills, Bills
I would also like less recent songs being covered. Season 1 had a great balance between old, new and theatre. This year it's clear the show is more concerned about sales than actually storyline.
And just for the record I am still enjoying the show and the songs. I just feel that perhaps there was road that diverged in a wood and they've gone left, when I wanted them to go right. The trip they've chosen is enjoyable but there is still an element of what if. Last edited:
I agree with pretty much everything you've said BillyBrett. Especially with the following:
1) Get rid of the Warblers. I know this is going to happen soon, but it's a distraction - they should probably avoid doing this too often too (bringing in random other teams). Nothing against Darren Criss or anything but they are not New Directions, so why should we care so much about them. 2) Tina needs to be given a storyline or at least a couple more solos. They've developed every main character (including Santana and Brittany) more than Tina and have only given her one proper solo, True Colors. She has performed at other times, but these are not released as singles - My Funny Valentine, Tonight for example. 3) Bring Kurt back. He belongs at WMHS and I like the way he has become friends with Rachel, and they need to keep it that way. 4) Stop bagging on Rachel so much!!! Mr Schuester seems to ignore the bullying that she constantly has to endure. It's incredibly unfair and is actually getting irritating! 5) No more random guest stars! They (mostly) add nothing but a distraction to the show and sometimes their appearance just seems out of place.
I too am not getting tired at all of Glee and still watch it over and over again, but some of the most recent episodes I have found myself watching once and not being motivated to watch it again (The Christmas Episode, and last week's Blame It for example).
Hopefully, everyone will get sick of them which appears to be what's happening now. All their covers are now for money and sales and it's getting even worse and worse. That's not to say I never hated them at the start.
Just getting this off my chest, I am beginning to resent the writers for turning urt into St Kurt. To imply that his Dad is a hypocrite because he dared to tell Kurt not to have boys over without his permission but that Dad would be ok with Puck and Finn having a 'sleepover' is ridiculous. Totally different ideas, and even though Dad said he'd have an issue with Finn and a girl doing the same, the scene ended with Kurt appearing to have the moral uphand. Dad should have been more forceful and told his son to wake up to himself. Phew I feel better now.
I will continue to judge Glee songs basaed upon their involvement in the plot of the show. Not as seperate entities. For example, if anybody else covered Tik Tok I would say it is too early, but in the context of the show, it made perfect sense for a performance. My main gripe with the recording though is the use of electronic vocals for what in the show was a live performance.
The Warblers, the a cappella rivals to the main singing crew on FOX's comedy smash "Glee," are coming to a store/computer near you.
Sony has announced the release of "Glee: The Music presents The Warblers" for April 19.
The album will include three never-before-heard tunes, including a take on Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know," a live version of "What Kind of Fool," and a cover of Rod Stewart’s "Do Ya Think I’m Sexy." It also includes the group's takes on Paul McCartney's "Silly Love Songs," Train's "Hey Soul Sister" and Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream."
The latest "Glee" music compilation has sold 132,000 in just over two weeks. Time will tell if hardcore Gleeks are willing to pony up cash in equal amounts for the rivals' CD.
Here's the full track listing:
1. “Teenage Dream” 2. “Hey Soul Sister” 3. “Bills, Bills, Bills” 4. “Silly Love Songs” 5. “When I Get You Alone” 6. “Animal” 7. “Misery” 8. “Blackbird” 9. “Candles” 10. “Raise Your Glass” 11. “Somewhere Only We Know” 12. “What Kind Of Fool” 13. “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?”
I agree anton, Teenage Dream is their best. Though I didn't mind Raise Your Glass. Surprised Blackbird is on there as I didn't really think the backkground vocals were really that Warbly if you get my drift, thought they were just generic background vocals.
Hopefully this will satsify those people who are orgasmic over anything Warbler. I'll buy it for my Glee selection but I will definitely still gravitate to the original gang. The sooner Kurt is back at McKinley the sooner this over praised group of vocalists will disappear.
Not a big fan of the Warblers, Blaine's vocals get really annoying. The 'Teenage Dream' cover was good, 'Bills Bills Bills' and 'Silly Love Songs' were okay and 'Blackbird' was pretty good, but the rest are trash. I agree with EBB, hope this group doesn't last in the show for too much longer.
I like Silly Love Songs, Blackbird and Candles were alright and TD is their best, but hopefully this a farewell to them so that we don't have to hear the Warblers again!
What is going on with Glee?! This third season, and particularly the last four episodes have been so horrific. Grrrr I used to be such a fan but now I'm considering giving up altogether.
Rachel/Finn is such a grating storyline (particularly Finn). And why do they continue to have guest stars/tribute episodes. Very little has actually happened in the last four episodes, there has been hardly any plot furtherance. And there are so many songs in each episode that don't really make sense.
I am dreading a fourth season only because I had such hopes for the third and I have only genuinely enjoyed three of the fifteen episodes of this season (Asian F, Hold On To Sixteen, Extraordinary Merry Christmas). So disappointed in where this show is heading.
It is frustrating this year. I was super annoyed with the whole Troubletones storyline. This is a school where they struggled to even get one Glee club up and running and then suddenly a new one gets created overnight, thankfully they lost but now they have a stupid rule where the troubletones automatically get a slot in the NEw Direction set list that allows Santana, Britney and Mercedes lead vocals while also having the option of lead vocals in the other songs, while the rest of New Directions still have to compere to get a solo? That makes no sense.
Also makes no sense that the Troubletone backup group doesn't perform with New Directions on the other two songs.
Unfortunately, this show has now come to be a place for music acts to get their songs promoted, so the songs are driving the storyline instead of supoorting it, which means the overall story suffers. They need to go back to writing the plot first and then finding songs that fit.
The show started to go off the rails when it became the Kurt show. Actually it really went off the rails when they started to make any action Rachel did, negative but when another character did the same action is was perfectly fine.
I think this show needs to go back and re-watch the very first episode to find out why it was so good in the first place. It would also help if they reduced the amount songs in every episode as well.
I have to say, Glee has really fallen of the ranks in recent times, probably because people already had enough of what they were doing, be it in terms of singing and the antics of the show, which people might have already passed off on.
Well it would be something to see them again but it would be so unreal to have a setup in school without people going out for graduation.
