Well for what it's worth, I listen to JJJ for several hours a day, and looking at a list of the most played songs on JJJ last week, there are heaps that I don't know.
well at least we don't have the scandal that seems to happen in the U.S. where record labels pay radio stations to play songs from certain artists on their label and also read on a news website about a $30 million lawsuit being filed against Lady Gaga.

Great to see One Time finally dropping out! Don't like it, and I don't recall ever hearing it on the radio, and I've only heard Ricki-Lee a few times ages ago. But I'm hearing the Gramo track a lot on the radio which is strange that it drops out.
Reading the Top 20 every week I always scratch my head over those entries who radio prefer to play but aren't charting very well. This week that award goes to Rob Thomas again with Lifehouse getting runners up. You would think that if people didn;t like these songs that radio would pick up on that and stop playing them, but obviously it appears the radio listening public are enjoying them to still be played. Which begs the question are radio listeners totally different to music buyers. My main theory is that for some reason people still want to hear rock on the radio but aren't interested in buying it digitally. Strange I know but that's my theory. I would love to see an ARIA chart that is based purely on physical sales and digital sales without the input of video sales or ringtone sales just to see if the rock songs move up the chart.
We discussed it one of the weekly thread about a month ago, but the reason for this is that there are some rock-oriented stations which are included on the airplay charts. These stations will play Rob Thomas and Lifehousem but are unlikely to play Rihanna, Taylor Swift or Jason DeRulo. Then you have the pop/Top 40 stations which do play Rihanna, Taylor and Jason, but will also play Lifehouse and Rob Thomas.
Tracks that are only played on pop stations miss about half of the market, which is why they often don't seem to do as well on the airplay chart as the ARIA chart. And the 'rock' songs which get played on a lot more stations chart better on aurplay, because a lot more stations play them.
Great to see Train at #1 this week, and John Mayer back in the top 20.
I have a station in my area that plays "the widest variety of music" (it's their slogan).
I've heard there are a couple of these in other cities.
They are really adult contemporary stations because they play 70s 80s and 90s music as well as music today that appeals to adults (such as Rob Thomas, Nickelback, Shinedown, Lifehouse, Coldplay, Pink)
Obviously adults wouldn've be interested in Justin Biber or Rihanna.
This may be the reason why these rock songs are charting so well in the airplay charts.
A good indication of which artists are in this 'adult contemporary' list is the adult contemporary charts on Billboard. You could expect these stations to play songs on this list (as well as some Australian songs ) Last edited:
Your station sounds like what radio stations in the country are. That's seems to be the slogan for every country radio station. LOL.
Thanks for your explanation bluezombie, I do remember that talk now. Makes me grateful that radio play doesn't play a factor in our charts as it would be very misleading for those reasons you present, it's bad enough for a pop music lover myself that pop artists struggle to have a hit on our charts at the moment, if airplay was ever included there would be less pop than ever.
The upside to including airplay in the charts is that it would probably flush older songs out a little sooner. And I think it would affect the R&B/Urban tracks even more than pop tracks.
Though I do agree, I wouldn't like airplay to be counted towards the ARIA chart.
what you have to understand about the airplay chart is they don't include radio stations outside the metropolitan area, read it on the aircheck website, on what stations they monitor.
I think it's a little bit misleading on the charts, if they only monitor radio stations in the metropolitan areas. I live in a capital city so it's fine with me, but when I went down to the coast, I listended to their local hit music station and they always seemed to play Broken by Sam Clark (I didn't know it was by him that time).
Yet Broken has only spent one week in the radio charts.
And don't people that live in the country tend to listen to the radio more often (no offence intended)?
The National Radio Airplay Chart is compiled using AirCheck spins data from Thursday to Wednesday each week & is published every Thursday. It is the most immediate and accurate data of the past 7 days airplay from all 45 commercial radio stations in the top six markets.

Australian Radio Airplay Chart - 9th to 15th April, 2010
Chart News: www.aumreport.com
Train remains at #1 with Hey, Soul Sister, for a third week Jason Derulo remains at #2 with In My Head, after eight weeks on the chart, while Cheryl Cole featuring Will.i.am moves into the #3 spot with 3 Words. This week, we have two change's in the top ten, with B.o.B featuring Bruno Mars with his debut single titled Nothin' On You, is taken from his debut album B.o.B Presents: The Adventures Of Bobby Ray, moving up to #6 & The John Butler Trio moves up to #10 with Close To You, the second single lift from April Uprising, the follow-up to the #1 Airplay Hit One Way Road..
So now we move onto of the movers & shakers on the chart this week, first off we have our, Hot Shot Debut which is Alejandro which is a song by American recording artist Lady Gaga. It is present on her second studio album The Fame Monster and has already been released in Sweden as the third single from the album. The song was co-written and produced by RedOne.Composed as a mid-tempo song, "Alejandro" has an uplifting melody and was inspired by Gaga's "Fear of Sex Monster".
Critics noted it to be heavily influenced by ABBA and Ace of Base, but predominantly gave positive reviews for it.. Alejandro has gained Plenty of airplay from FOX FM, 2DAY, The Edge with NOVA (Melbourne, Sydney, Perth & Brisbane) has made it the highest new entry at #11,
next we have this week's Power Pick Hit which is Seventeen the third single for Jet & on their third studio album Shaka Rock, Seventeen is, in my opinion, one of three of the strongest songs on the album and is certainly up there with my favourite Jet songs. Nic's vocals are quite refined on this song, with a very clean sound that lend to the lyrics. The riffs and instrumental elements of the song all blend together to create one of the best moments of the album.
Seventeen is the biggest mover of the week, moving up Thirty-Seven positions to #19 as 2DAY, 96.1, FOX FM and NOVA (Melbourne & Sydney) turned up the dial and finally we have our
#1 Most Added from Christina Aguilera with Not Myself Tonight, is her first single since 2008, which is from her fourth full-length studio album Bionic. Not Myself Tonight is a whirring, whooshing thing, full of blaring synthesizers and spare snares speeding along over a pounding, four-on-the-floor beat. It's more of a classic house cut than anything else, the kind of track you'd expect to hear rattling the speakers at the massive, multi-level clubs of Europe. And on the song, Aguilera sounds like she's already on the dance floor. Not Myself Tonight has become radio's most added, because of MDs having adding it from day one of its official service.
ATB additions poured in from the 2DAY, NOVA Network and FOX FM, Days came from 92.1 while jumping on board with Nights were MIX FM and Hit Music Networks (Days and Benchwarmers), and debut on the Airplay chart at #13, so that wrap's up another edition of the AMR chart news.

Hi Hijinx!! yes i'm also interested in viewing Beyonce's "Video Phone" chart run, and the Aria stats too please, i forgot? Thanks for posting the Bad Romance and Telephone chart stats!
Something I just thought of is that the #1 Airplay song in Australia has about 600 spins per week, and the #1 Airplay song in the US has about 11000 spins per week. I thought there was a much larger difference in population.
Actually it's smaller. Australia's Snxkxskxn is 21 million, US is 300 million. By that rate Australia's 600 would be about 8500 in America. Also, 600 is a bit high for number one, they're normally around 550.

Adam Lamb Jason DeRulo Iyaz Jay Sean Taio Cruz BO! feat. Bruno Mars Train Lifehouse
It's actually nice to see males acheiving success on our charts this year, for the past couple of years it's been the females you have been producing the popular tracks, so it was only a matter of time until the cycle turned and males became the dominant force, next year the females will probably dominate.
They are all urban. Record label doesn't matter to me. Jay Sean's song is probably the most successful of the threesome here, probably in the US too, and I don't care for the UK. Jay Sean is not considered UK-ian anymore.
I would disagree with you 392 sayin Jay Sean is no loner UK-ian. Musically his sound is still more UK Urban than the crap US Urban. The only difference to his music now and his original music is that he has pointless cameos from US stars to help market him in the US. Just like Taio Cruz' label felt they needed to add Ludacris to make an already catchy song catchier to the US ears.
And with this debate, I don't mind either 3 because they make singalong-able and catchy songs. Something that has been missing from the Urban scene for ages.
Awesome Hijinx, one thing though, I think you should shorten the title of the column somehow so the column isn't so unnecessarily fat. One other thing is you could also add a column of ARIA Peak, so not the pos one week, the peak overall.
I was actually intending on doing ARIA peaks in the first place but thought the current week would be better, I'll probably put that column in later. Also to note, I'm using the previous week data so I can update it on the day, so when I get to it, Train will be #1 at the bottom, not what they are tomorrow. Last edited:

Chart News: www.aumreport.com
Train holds onto the #1 position again!
Train remains at #1 with Hey, Soul Sister, for a fifth week B.o.B featuring Bruno Mars moves in at #2 with Nothin' On You, after just four weeks on the chart, while Adam Lambert moves into the #3 spot with Whataya Want From Me, from his debut album, For Your Entertainment.
This week, we have one change in the top ten, with Black Eyed Peas moving back into th top ten with Imma Be, which is taken from the album The E.N.D, moving back up to #8 .
So now we move onto of the movers & shakers on the chart this week, first off we have our, Hot Shot Debut which is Gettin' Over You is the fifth single from David Guetta's fourth studio album One Love. This a new version of the original album track ‘Getting Over’ with Chris Willis. This is an updated production of the original album track and has been revamped for the global dance floors and airwaves with additional vocals from Fergie and LMFAO.
David premiered this new version live on Friday 26 March during his set at ‘Ultra’ at the Winter Music Conference in Miami with a special live performance with Chris Willis and LMFAO.
David Guetta is a Grammy Award winning DJ/Producer and ‘One Love’ is his platinum selling debut album. Gettin' Over You has already been gaining radio airplay from FOX FM, 2DAY, The Edge with NOVA (Melbourne, Sydney, Perth & Brisbane) has made it the highest new entry at #43,
next we have this week's Power Pick Hit which is Break Your Heart is the first single released by the band Taio Cruz, striking while the Europop iron is still red hot, 'Break Your Heart' is an urban club banger that lands somewhere between a softer Tinchy and a more melodic Akon.
"I'm only going to break, break ya break, break your heart", Cruz warns a potential suitor over a backdrop of stomping beats and shimmering synths. This might not be hugely original, but thanks to a fiercely hypnotic chorus that grabs you instantly, it's clear why Cruz has become one of the hottest collaborators of the moment..

#1 Most Added is from Powderfinger with Sail The Wildest Stretch, Sail the Wildest Stretch is the third single from the iconic Australian band’s seventh studio album. An compassionate and heartfelt single, Sail the Wild Stretch resembles the emotive chords and wisdoms heard throughout Odyssey Number 5, combined with the essential Powderfinger sounds and strings that made Powderfinger who they are.
Sail the Wildest Stretch reflects the decisions and directions taken in life. This powerful track will be appreciated in all quarters due to its universality, and Powderfinger will once again capture the hearts and voices of everyone that hears it. Sail The Wildest Stretch has become radio's most added, because of MDs having adding it from day one of its official service.

top 5 most added; ive only heard unbroken & Fearless on the radio, strange Fearless is such a good single choice, hopefully it doesnt flop (like i think it will )
I agree with you regarding Fearless bsb. It's a great single choice, but it will probably flop. I'd love to see it do well though.
Great to see Train stay on top and judging by their spins lead, they should be there for a couple more weeks yet. Though In My Head and 3 Words lost huge amounts this week so I guess Hey Soul Sister could anytime too.
Does anyone else find the rest of the figures on the Aircheck website completely bizarre? The songs that were outside the top 20 last week have the incorrect last week placings, but even stranger is the weeks charting column. Imma Be has apparently been charting for 49 weeks, You've Got The Love for 41 and Mockingbird 42. The only thing I can think of is that maybe that is how long those albums came out, but even that doesn't really make sense, and you have something like Mr Mysterious which has been charting for nine weeks, yet the album has been out a lot longer.
It's a great site with awesome info, but those numbers are just strange.
I noticed that the as well the first time I saw the chart. Perhaps there is a slight difference in the source for the two as I can imagine the difference in spins gets pretty small at the lower end of the chart. Mr Mysterious is a bit odd, maybe no station played it upon initial release? I've always taken them as around when the album was out.
I've been working on a Most Played list and Train are in the top 10 at the moment. I didn't notice Hazardous, thanks for that. It was meant to be LMFAO. Last edited:
You're not far off with that prediction, two of them are in the right place. RTB is comfortably in the top 5, all of them are, with quite a gap below them. I haven't done this week's, but as it stands:
6. Rude Boy 7. Replay 8. In My Head 9. Undisclosed Desires 10. Hey, Soul Sister
I'd put the spins data in but I only have two weeks of it.

MIX 106.3 is a station is Sydney??? That's not right.
It's an adult contemporary station in Canberra.
I mentioned this station before - it has the "widest variety of music" slogan.
27/03/2010 14:12
I'll quote myself
You could expect these stations to play songs on this list (as well as some Australian songs )
Mix 106.3 better not be the above station. This would partly explain why rock songs are doing better in the charts.
and if this stations is on the list, why isn't the local hit music station there?
anton, I assume it would be like the TV ratings, in which it only takes data from the 5 major states (sorry Tasmania). I'm not sure about the station though.
Pink Nickelback Matchbox Twenty Kelly Clarkson Kings of Leon Powderfinger Rob Thomas (absolutely obssesed with the above artists)
The Fray Eskimoe Joe Snow Patrol Lifehouse Katy Perry Train Lily Allen (only plays Not Fair and Who'd Known) Wes Carr (all songs except for Love Is An Animal)
Other songs iclude: Heartbreak Warfare, Love Story, According To You, Fireflies, I'm Yours, Little Lion Man, I Gotta Feeling, Whataya Want From me, Love Song
I'll add more to the list but DEFINITELY DO NOT EXPECT THEM TO PLAY:

Anyway, what will happen to the EOY airplay chart? If the AMR doesn't incorporate these new stations into the original charts, many old songs that charted previously will be hit hard in the EOY chart.
Fireflies is what I'm actually referring to. It will be hit hard.
I don't know if there will be an official EOY Chart. The one that I've been preparing will be unaffected by the change though. If it's any consolation, there's always a massive advantage given to songs from earlier in the year, due to the fact that they have airplay all year. Fireflies will do well regardless.

There is only 1 Spin seperating Brian and Train. If you thought that was shocking Burn Your Name and Memories have equal plays. Also We No Speak and Shut Up have equal Plays, how do they rank them.
It doesn't look like they do. For both those examples (and Unbroken & In My Head) they have the same rank. On another note, Alejandro doesn't look like it'll be dethroned for a while. Last edited:
Alejandro will be on top for a while. Probably longer than Train's six weeks. The rest of the top five is dropping, while GaGa gains and the closest song to her that's gaining is Seventeen, which will never be number one. Of course, it doesn't take long to turn around on this chart so who knows.

#1 Most Added is from Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg with California Gurls, Katy Perry's new single from her forthcoming second album is just too damn hot to keep from the world. So here it is, two weeks earlier than expected, 'California Gurls'.
There's two versions available, one features Snoop Dogg and the second version is Katy on her own. Produced by Dr. Luke, Max Martin and Benny Blanco, 'California Gurls' was written by Katy after she heard Jay Z's 'Empire State Of Mind'. Katy's own anthem for the West Coast Girls, California Gurls has become radio's most added, because of MDs having adding it from day one of its official service.
ATB additions poured in from the 2DAY, NOVA Network and FOX FM, Days came from 92.1 while jumping on board with Nights were MIX FM and Hit Music Networks (Days and Benchwarmers), and has debuted on the Airplay chart at #18, so that wrap's up another edition of the AMR chart news.

Lady Gaga remains at #1 for a fourth week with Alejandro, Usher featuring Will.i.am moves into the #2 spot behind Lady Gaga, with OMG, while Adam Lambert drops into the #3 spot with Whataya Want From Me. This week, we have three change's in the top ten, with Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg moving into the top ten with California Gurls, which is taken from Katy's soon to be released new album Teenage Dream, moving into the top 10 at #7, next is B.o.B featuring Hayley Williiams (of Paramore)with his 2nd single Airplanes, moving in at #9 and finally Ke$ha with her 3rd single Your Love Is My Drug, taken from her certified Gold Album Animal, which lands at #10 So now we move onto of the movers & shakers on the chart this week, first off we have our, Hot Shot Debut which is Neutron Star Collision, which is from Muse, It serves as the lead single from the Eclipse Soundtrack, .The world has waited with bated breath. The first single from “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” is finally here! “ECLIPSE” marks the third Twilight soundtrack that the British rock trio Muse has been a part of. The band’s “Supermassive Black Hole” appeared on the “Twilight” soundtrack, and for the “Twilight – New Moon” soundtrack, the group contributed “I Belong To You (New Moon Remix).” All the soundtracks have had massive success around the world. Released in November of 2008, “Twilight – The Original Motion Picture Sountrack” has gone on to sell more than 3.5 million copies internationally. Exclusive to the “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack”, “Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever)” is set to wow Muse fans from all around the world. Their 5th album, 'The Resistance' has received international praise, was named Triple J feature album, debuted at #1 on the ARIA Album Chart, and has sold over platinum in Australia. The Triple J Hottest 100 of 2010 saw the entry of four Muse tracks: #9 Uprising , #19 Undisclosed Desires, #35 Resistance and #84 United States of Eurasia. The third installment, ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” is due in stores and online June 4. The movie is set to open in theatres nationwide on July 1.Neutron Star Collision, debuts at #39 and has already been gaining massive amounts radio airplay from FOX FM, 2DAY, The Edge with NOVA (Melbourne, Sydney, Perth & Brisbane) which has made it the highest new entry, next we have this week's Power Pick Hit which is My First Kiss by 3OH!3 featuring Ke$ha The 3oh!3 electro lovers are back with their first single ‘MY FIRST KISS’ off their soon to be released third album ‘STREETS OF GOLD’. Their last album ‘WANT’ gave us ‘Starstrukk feat. Katy Perry’ and ‘Don’t Trust Me’ – both Top 10 chart singles which went Platinum and double Platinum in Australia!! 3OH!3 stands for the area code that front men Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte represent. Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, the duo met while studying physics in college and discovered one another’s love for underground hip hop. The mutual fixation for a genre of music that is rarely handled in the capitol of hippies brought the two united to create 3OH!3. Before they knew it they were selling out local clubs with their high strung dancing layered on top of their truly unique genre-bashing music. You are unlikely to forget ‘My first Kiss’ from the first time you hear it. Matt Squire's production adds welcome polish and Ke$ha’s guest vocals ensure a completely irresistible party track. We warn you, this charming track may be stuck in your head for days. The lyrics "My first kiss went a little like this" feels almost like 3oh!3 are daring you to think back to your first kiss. Hopefully it was as good as this track. My First Kiss makes a massive move this week, moving up Thirty-three positions to #37 as 2DAY, 96.1, FOX FM and NOVA (Melbourne & Sydney) turned up the dial and finally we have our #1 Most Added is from Kylie Minogue With All The Lovers, which is the 1st single off her her new studio album Aphrodite, which is scheduled for release on July 5th.All The Lovers has become radio's most added, because of MDs having adding it from day one of its official service. ATB additions poured in from the 2DAY, NOVA Network and FOX FM, Days came from 92.1 while jumping on board with Nights were MIX FM and Hit Music Networks (Days and Benchwarmers), and is #21 on the Airplay chart, so that wrap's up another edition of the AMR chart news.
Did anyone notice on the ARIA Charts updated tonight, that "Until You Were Gone" by Chipmunk/Esmee Denters debuted at #41 on the main singles chart, yet it doesn't even appear on the top 50 digital chart or physical singles chart? How can this be? I don't understand how it charted. It hasn't even hit the top 200 on iTunes since its release week. I am confused.??? I have a feeling ARIA are finally including airplay now that physical sales are declining rapidly, because I searched through Nova's playlist on their website, and they have it there.
They wouldn't be, Until You Were Gone isn't in the airplay chart. It's probably one of those random entries like Chris Sorbello & Tin Alley. It might be on the chart in two versions which are both below the visible download chart. Last edited:
Well, I just checked on iTunes and it doesn't appear anywhere in the top 200 videos either. As far as I know, no physical single has been released. I really do not understand how something that seems to have next to no sales can debut at #41. I plan on asking the crew on auspOp.net about it on their Chart Watch post tomorrow. Hopefully they will have some inside information, as they have access to the exact sales figures.
I emailed Aria to ask if airplay is being included in the Aria chart are here is the reply:
The ARIA Charts are based purely on digital download sales and physical CD sales. The airplay of songs does not go towards the overall position of a song or album on the chart.
This practice is used in other international countries, but not Australia.

Australian Radio Airplay Chart - 4th to 11th June, 2010
After 4 weeks at the top, Lady Gaga's "Alejandro", drops one spot to #2. Hopefully she can rebound, she was supposed to stay at #1 for at least another 3 weeks.
Usher's OMG! is the new Radio Airplay #1 hit, congratulations!
Usher featuring Will.i.am moves in at #1 with OMG, which means Lady Gaga drops out of the #1 spot after four weeks, with Alejandro, which drops into the #2 spot, moving up into the #3 spot is Jason Derulo with Ridin' Solo.
This week, we have only one entry into the top ten, from Scouting For Girls moving into the top ten with This Ain't A Love Song, which is taken from Scouting For Girls soon to be released album Everybody Wants to be On TV, moving into the top 10 at #9, So now we move onto of the movers & shakers on the chart this week, first off we have our, Hot Shot Debut which is Billionaire, which is 1st Solo single from Gym Class Heroes lead vocalist,Travie Lazarus "Travis" McCoy featuring Bruno Mars, It serves as the lead single from Lazarus, the debut solo album from Travie McCoy.
Standing 6 foot 5, with equally towering charisma and an enviable collection of tattoos, “Travie” - as friends and family have always affectionately called him - has been one of music's most instantly-identifiable figures since Gym Class Heroes burst into the mainstream in 2007 with their Top 15 hit, ”Cupid’s Chokehold” off their breakthrough album, As Cruel As School Children.T
The first single, Billionaire, is a rum-soaked Caribbean fantasy about rubbing shoulders with "Oprah and the Queen". It features Bruno Mars (the same Bruno Mars from B.o.B’s hit single Nothing’ On You) and is a rich track that combines a lot of instrumentation with reggae acoustics, coupled with a summer-infused vibe.
Currently, the single is racing up the US radio charts - #22 Chr/Top 40 and #33 Top 40 Rhythmic and #60 on the Hot 100 singles. Billionaire, debuts at #36 and has already been gaining massive amounts radio airplay from FOX FM, 2DAY, The Edge with NOVA (Melbourne, Sydney, Perth & Brisbane) which has made it the highest new entry,
next we have this week's Power Pick Hit which is Baby, I'm Gettin' Better by Gyroscope ‘Baby I’m Gettin’ Better’ is the second single to come from Gyroscope’s well established Top 5 album Cohesion. With driving rhythm and ideally weighted pop-rock vocals, this tune is one of the most uplifting and energising moments of Cohesion – An infectious sing-along with a killer hook filled with honesty, while laced with energy and enthusiasm – a reflection of the band’s studio time.
Produced by the legendary Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, The Pixies, Eskimo Joe) in Rockfield Wales, the recording of Cohesion has been one of the most rewarding experiences of Gyroscope’s journey. With the result of wonderful shades of light and dark, and of pounding energy and delicate emotion, COHESION, is an album that picked pick up where 2008’s ARIA #1 album ‘Breed Obsession’ left off.
Having packed rooms on their whirlwind and very noisy ‘Some of the Places I Know’ tour throughout March, Gyroscope is now preparing to take things up a notch, on June’s Cohesion Tour.
Audiences all over the country are now invited to participate in the collaborative effort that Cohesion has come to represent. To celebrate the release of this rock’n’roll opus, Gyroscope will be shaking up some of the largest and most beautiful venues they have ever been fortunate enough to tread the boards in. Baby, I'm Gettin' Better makes a massive move up the chart this week, moving up Thirty-six positions to #35 as 2DAY, 96.1, FOX FM and NOVA (Melbourne & Sydney) turned up the dial and finally we have our #1 Most Added is from Train with If It's Love, which is the2nd single off the train's album Save Me San Francisco,.If It's Love has become radio's most added, because of MDs having adding it from day one of its official service.

Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg remain's in the #1 spot with California Gurls, for the third week, B.o.B featuring Hayley Williams with Airplanes, remains in the #2 spot, while Scouting For Girls with This Ain't A Love Song, stays in put the #3 spot,
This week, we have only two entries into the top ten, from Uncle Kracker moving into the top ten with Smile, which is taken from Uncle Krackers, new album Happy Hour, moving into the top 10 at #8, also our other new entry is from Travie McCoy featuring Bruno Mars with Billionaire at #10. So now we move onto of the movers & shakers on the chart this week, first off we have our,
Hot Shot Debut which is Misery, which is the first new single from Maroon 5, from the bands new album Hands All Over, which will be released in September,Misery" is pretty classic Maroon 5, with a rubber-band funk bassline, swinging beat and Adam Levine's rich, conversational vocals riding on top.
Like a lot of Maroon 5 jams, Misery is a buoyant, poppy affair that has a dark underbelly. Misery is about the dire straits Levine finds himself in when a relationship peters out. If the song sounds like sunshine, the video will apparently be a little more stormy. Levine recently told MTV News that the upcoming clip will feature some violence, wherein the lady comes out on top.
Misery is the first single from Maroon 5's upcoming album, Hands All Over, due out in September. Check out the song, as well as the group's still-awesome video for "If I Never See Your Face Again," featuring Rihanna. Misery debuts at #23 and has already been gaining massive amounts of radio airplay from FOX FM, 2DAY, MIX FM with NOVA (Melbourne, Sydney, Perth & Brisbane) which has made it the highest new entry, next we have this week's Power Pick Hit which is XXXO by M.I.A, XXXO is the first single to be taken from the M.I.A's third studio album Maya, which sees M.I.A continue her distinctive blend of Hip-Hop around the World, the single has already exploded onto the charts, reaching Top 43 Australian Airplay Chart. XXXO makes a move up the chart this week, moving up just sixteen positions to #43 as 2DAY, 96.1, FOX FM and NOVA (Melbourne & Sydney) turned up the dial and finally we have our
#1 Most Added is from Maroon 5 with Misery, which is the first single to be released from Maroon 5's forthcoming album Hands All Over, which is due for a September release, Grammy winning recording artist Maroon 5 is back with their highly anticipated third studio album, Hands All Over.
Produced by rock studio legend Robert John "Mutt" Lange (AC/DC, Def Leppard, The Cars), Hands All Over is a killer hybrid of rock, pop, funk and R&B. Maroon 5 began writing the songs that appear on Hands All Over after winding down from a world tour in support of their 2007 studio release It Won't Be Soon Before Long.
Several months later, the band received a phone call from Lange, who had heard that the band were beginning to write a new album, and expressed an interest in producing it. The result is Hands All Over, a monumental record chock full of buoyant, unforgettable melodies. Recorded at Lange's Switzerland studio, the members of Maroon 5 locked themselves in the mountains to patiently craft their latest effort.
Starting with the hard-rocking title track, the album's 15 tracks take several intoxicating twists and turns including such compositions as "Out of Goodbyes," a stunning country ballad infused with musical and vocal contributions from Nashville chart-toppers Lady Antebellum. Long-time fans will get a thrill out of "Misery," with its funky guitars and high-stepping melody, as well as the propulsive "Stutter," melody rich "Give A Little More" and "Don't Know Much about That," which professes a classic soulful vibe. Misery went ATB on the Hit Music Network and NOVA Networks.
Nights came from the ACE FM Network, also Misery is highest new entry at #23 on the Airplay Chart this week, so that wrap's up another edition of the AMR chart news.

Recently for the past month or so, my local Adult Contemporary Station has been playing "The Essential 2010 Countdown." Many of you has heard me ramble about Adult Contemporary stations but I'll give you a brief summary.
Adult Contemporary stations are of course aimed at a target audience of adults. (I believe your hit music stations would be at a younger audience.) Evidence that this station that I listen to targets the 'adult' audience is that it plays music from ALL periods. 60s, 70s all the way to now. (Their slogan is "We play, the Widest Variety Of Music!")
Usually, AC stations play new music, that is the music that are in the charts now BUT not ALL the music that is in today's charts are being played. AC have a massive tendency to play "Rock" songs. I believe this genre is most popular with adults.
This station (Mix 106.3) is actually part of the Radio Music network thing. This is currently my theory why artists and songs that fail to do well on ARIA chart well on the Aus-Airplay charts as this AC station constantly plays them (eg. Powderfinger and Rob Thomas).
As for the countdown thing, Mix 106.3 has an annual countdown called the "Insert Year"s Essential Countdown. As this is the year 2010 the station gets listeners to vote and they play the top 2010 songs (Yes that many!) This countdown goes for weeks! (Next year they will do a top 2011 and the year after 2012, you get the point.)
It still isn't finished but I currently have #388 to #21. I will post some well known songs from that section to give you an insight of what is popular in the Adult Contemporary market!
Enjoy and please comment!
LAST YEAR'S TOP 3
1. BILLIE JEAN - Michael Jackson 2. (Don't remember) 3. U + UR HAND - P!nk (The countdown was a few months after MJ's death which is why it was #1 I believe)

Up until now I had no real idea of what Adult Contemporary meant but now I know, thanks Ant. This kind of Radio defenitly fits my tastes well.
I Remember hearing bits of the 2007 Essential Countdown and I think I remember some of 2008's too but I didn't know there was a Countdown Last Year, I must of missed it. I Have seen full 2007 and 2008 Lists on the Web and even wrote down the Positions to where my favorite Tracks ended up. I will have to research 2009 and 2010's Lists. Last edited:

Australian radio really does love GaGa. Dance In The Dark is a very non memorable track and doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the Top 20 let alone Top 10. It's like she is the new Pink, she gets played no matter how dodgy the song is. At least the other 19 songs are decent. Doubt #19 will actually go Top 50 on the ARIA chart though.
Sort of agree with BillyBrett. I wouldn't say it's the worst in the top 20 (what is that #19?) but yes, Dance in the Dark is very weak and would do nothing with another artist singing it.

No wonder crap charts highly in our chart when radio insists on playing crap like #12 and #13. Seriously radio, send a message to these artists and don't play mediocre songs. And send a message toyour listeners that you won't play crap by refusing to play there requests
To be fair, The Time was barely troubling the airplay when it rapidly ascended to #1 on iTunes, and it's still getting less airplay than sales warrant, so there's a force at hand there.
I gave you long enough anton, so I'm snatching it this week

I also didn't notice this last week but as of then, the Geelong market has been added with two more stations in BAYFM & KROCK, bringing the total up to 54 stations, hence the larger spin counts. Last edited:
Also, I think you should be a bit more positive that #12 and #13 ARE AT #12 and #13. The Time and Like A G6 only charted in the airplay charts because they were doing well on ARIA. Radio was a bit slow to pick them up and they're currently reluctant to put them in the top 10. I don't think the reason the reason why they're charting is because of airplay.
Thats something to be positive about but Radio are forced to play them because of their chart success but Radio should flop them entirely because Like A GShit isn't radio friendly material. At least The Time is more suitible to radio so that doesn't bother me as much.

That EOY table is strange. Viva La Vida and Use Somebody still getting airplay? My estimation is that they're getting about 10 spins a day which is a lot but they both beat Bad Romance? which actually charted and did moderately well this year? Oh well, too bad for Gaga
Plans is wrong it should be higher. Why is it at only at #44!
What with 9000 spins now it (Plans) should be at least top 20 in my opinion. Especially since Baby I'm Gettin Better is doing better at #27.
Hmm, the only idea I can think of is that it's done with a different list of stations, I remember seeing the music network list briefly and it did have differences with Aircheck.
