The first chart of the new thread and we have a new number one debut again. Kiss From A Rose by Seal jumps straight it at number one, earning an extra nomination for antonnalan.
Everybody Hurts and Imagine look like they may be in for the long run, and another big debut comes in at number four in the form of All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey, can this have a good run over the next few festive weeks? Another new entry comes in at number seven, White Flag by Dido, a previous ARIA #1. The other new song to make the cut this week is Stay (I Missed You) by Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories.
Falling out of the chart this week are If You Could Only See (by 3 points), Careless Whisper (as it goes ▲3), The Bad Touch and our current second longest running hit Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me by U2 (would their tour have helped them stay in longer, guess we won't know).
Very special mention must go to INXS and their hit Need You Tonight which now stands as the second most successful song on the Vault overall - and doing so without even hitting number one.

Christmas has come early this week for Mariah Carey as she manages to reach number one on The Vault with All I Want For Christmas Is You, even though she just missed the same spot on the ARIA chart.
Previous number ones Kiss From A Rose, Imagine and Everybody Hurts make up the next three spots, while Nothing Compares 2 U and Frozen rebound back into the Top 10 this week.
The highest new nomination this week belongs to ABBA and their classic Dancing Queen which enters at number 9, earning Chris A an extra nomination. Dancing Queen is followed by Christina Aguilera with Candyman (her other nominated song wasn't so successful). Completing the Christmas theme, Wham!'s Last Christmas just made the cut at number 13.
Leaving the chart this week is Need You Tonight by INXS which has now charted for 16 weeks and made it all the way to the number one position on the Running Totals Chart. I am pleased to say that the number one and two spots belong to Aussie acts which is great. Other songs leaving are Torn, Stay (I Missed You) and White Flag.

Out of the four songs to make their debut in the chart this week, three of them are ARIA #1s. The highest new debut is the odd one out, but while Jewel didn't reach number on ARIA she has on The Vault with Foolish Games in it's very first week. Gareth89 earns the extra nomination again.
Mariah Carey drops down to number two with All I Want For Christmas Is You. I don't see why 2008 should be included, it was originally up to 2006 until April when it was changed to 2007, if anything it should be at this point (in three months time) that 2008 songs could be included.

After a long wait for this round, it is John Lennon who is victorious! ‘Imagine’ climbs back to #1, now 2 rounds on top. ‘Frozen’ has taken 8 rounds to reach a new peak of #2. The previous best was #4. It has not been a good week for the new nominations. Those songs from the poll 16 months ago are still proving to be popular. Only ‘Crazy’ debuts into the Vault chart. The next round (round 49) will be a bonus points round. How this works is that the 5 songs with the least number of english reviews in the list will get a 50% bonus on their points when the tally is done. So the bonus works best on those songs that members have either forgotten to review or are not familiar with yet. But the risk is, if the song is too unfamiliar, it may not tally enough points to take advantage of the bonus. It is your song nominations now that will have a chance to earn that bonus. The 50% bonus is just for round 49, reduced to 25% in round 50 if the song survives. The count of the english reviews for the bonus points will be those reviews dated on or before 29/04/2012, as displayed (before selecting the 'show all languages' link).

We celebrate the 50th chart with a new chart-topper!! Mike + The Mechanics climb that extra place to claim #1 with 'The Living Years'. A big debut this week is Mariah Carey with 'Hero' at #2, the highest debut since Jewel (round 46). R.E.M. returns to the Top 3 with 'Everybody Hurts' and also moves up to #7 in the 'all time' Vault list. Madonna reaches 11 rounds on the chart, the longest run since INXS (round 44). Elton John has the other debut this round, while 'Time After Time' and 'Smooth Criminal' are eliminated after short chart runs. The chart is still proving to be elusive for many of the new nominations.

This round sees another debut at #1. Tina Arena edges out the competition, assisted by the bonus points, with her ballad 'Wasn't It Good'. However the long-staying songs continue to hold on strong. 'Funky Town' bullets up to the top this week. This is largely due to many votes received, but also due to the good luck of falling into the group of least reviewed songs this round, and in turn earning bonus points to achieve a bonus chart placing. In a good round for 'hero' songs, M People climb to #2, while Mariah Carey rebounds to #3. Accolades to TravD who nominated the highest debuting song at #4, but also achieved the rare feat of a trifecta of nominated songs appearing in the Top 4. 'Tears In Heaven' slips from #1 to #7, but still does well considering the bonus points were lost this time around. Queen (#9) and Buggles (#11) move into the chart with a couple of older classics. INXS just outperform the others to move back up to #1 with 'Never Tear Us Apart', its 2nd time on top. This has been one of those rounds where the new nominations have struggled. The best of them is Enya's 'May It Be' at #10, the only one that will survive this round. We have a bit of a shake up on the Vault. Well, the Top 2 are steady, but further down the list there are a few surprises. Enya surges from #10 to #3 with 'May It Be' and takes full advantage of the bonus points. There are 4 debuts this week (only 1 of them requiring the assistance of bonus points). Congrats TravD, you have the highest of the debuts and can choose the theme for the next lot of nominations. R.E.M. survive in the Top 11 as the biggest Vault hit of all time, but John Lennon's 5 x platinum 'Imagine' is one of the drop outs, falling from #6 to #14. In a close contest at the top, it is the theme from the Aladdin movie that has come up trumps. 'A Whole New World' debuts at #1, giving BillyBrett the highest debut of the week and the new chart-topper. 'Hero' holds for a 3rd straight week at #2. 'The Living Years' rebounds to #3, while INXS slip from #1 to #4. R.E.M.'s 'Everybody Hurts' moves back into the Top 5 and becomes the first Vault song to reach 6 x platinum. I have always thought R.E.M. - Everybody Hurts has had an unfair advantage in the vault as it wouldn't be able to chart under the current rules. When will The Vault be returning DaveNT?
