An unexpected #1 album this week in my opinion. THought it was a battle between SuBo and MJ, but wholesome Taylor wins the battle.
At least MJ's album spirred interest in his single which allowed it to enter the Top 40 this week. Great to see Katy still holding onto the top spot although I suspect Grenade will be the first 'new' song to top the 2011 chart.
People should check out the Top 200 Album chart to see how many Christmas related albums are clogging up the chart this week. Expect some crazy movement up the chart in the coming weeks when they all drop out.
To be fair I'm happy MJ doesn't score the top spot!! And that is all I'll say about that but I agree billybrett i fully though Susan Boyle was a sure shot for #1. good to see Firework still at #1, this should help it on next year's year-end charts!

ritney Spears becomes just the second artist in the Billboard Hot 100's 52-year history to debut multiple songs at No. 1, as "Hold It Against Me" blasts in at the summit.
Spears previously launched at the apex with "3" the week of Oct. 24, 2009. She joins Mariah Carey as the only acts to arrive at No. 1 more than once. Carey made such grand entrances with "Fantasy" and "One Sweet Day" in 1995 and "Honey" in 1997. (All charts will be refreshed tomorrow (Jan. 20) on Billboard.com).
"Hold It Against Me" is the 18th song to debut at No. 1 and the first since Ke$ha's "We R Who We R" the week of Nov. 13, 2010.
The track is Spears' fourth No. 1 on the Hot 100. Prior to "3," she reigned with her debut single "...Baby One More Time" (two weeks, 1999) and "Womanizer" (one week, 2008).
"Hold It Against Me" starts atop Digital Songs with 411,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. As previously reported, the sum marks the highest debut frame by a lead female artist, besting the 325,000 shifted by Taylor Swift's "Today Was a Fairytale" the week of Feb. 6, 2010.
On Radio Songs, "Hold It Against Me" begins at No. 23 with 45 million first-week audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS. The song's No. 23 entrance is the chart's best since Mariah Carey's "Touch My Body" began at the same rank the week of March 1, 2008.
Two other tracks storm the upper reaches of the Hot 100. "What the Hell," the first single from Avril Lavigne's fourth album, "Goodbye Lullaby," due March 8, opens at No. 13. The song starts at No. 6 on Digital Songs with sales of 163,000.
At No. 23 on the Hot 100, Kanye West and Jay-Z debut with "H*A*M." The first single from the superstar pair's upcoming collaborative album, "Watch the Throne," enters Digital Songs at No. 10 (125,000).
Directly below "Hold It Against Me" on the Hot 100, three titles dip one notch each: Bruno Mars' "Grenade" (1-2), Katy Perry's "Firework" (2-3) and Rihanna's "What's My Name?," featuring Drake (3-4).
Wiz Khalifa's "Black and Yellow" lifts 7-5, jumping Enrique Iglesias' "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)," featuring Ludacris & DJ Frank E (6-6), while "We R Who We R" slides 4-7.
P!nk descends 5-8 with "Raise Your Glass" but claims dual Greatest Gainer/Digital and Airplay honors with "F**kin' Perfect" (57-30). The second new track from her "Greatest Hits... So Far!!!" retrospective bounds 66-25 on Digital Songs (70,000, up 95%) and 68-44 (27.5 million, up 54%) on Radio Songs.
The Black Eyed Peas' "The Time (Dirty Bit)" and Mars' "Just the Way You Are" round out the Hot 100 top 10, each dropping a rung to Nos. 9 and 10, respectively.

Arrgh I hate Black and Yellow, it's a shame Pink couldn't snag a week at the top. I thought Dr Dre would debut on top to be honest largely for being new Eminem material but obviously I was wrong. Nice to see Firework enjoying a prolonged chart run!
WOW AT NICKI MINAJ TAKING #1 album!!! I'm so so so happy for her since she could only manage a #1 debut! It's certainly one of the strongest female rap albums of recent times.
GONGWATSI NIXKI!!!! [/fail] I agree, it's a great album, and an especially big accomplishment for a female rapper. Nice to see Wiz at #1, very expected. Great debut for Dre, and good to see most of the rest there too.
Lady Gaga Claims 1,000th Hot 100 No. 1 with 'Born This Way'
And you thought her entrance at the Grammy Awards was attention-getting.
By storming the Billboard Hot 100 song chart at No. 1, Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" makes history as the 1,000th leading song in the list's 52-year history.
The Billboard Hot 100 No. 1s, from 1 to 1,000
"It is a tremendous honor," Gaga tells Billboard of the milestone. "To be the 1000th no. 1 on Billboard...I would be silly not to say this is the greatest honor of my career."
"I am so humbled and so honored and overwhelmed by the reception to 'Born This Way,' " Gaga adds. "[It] has been so life changing for me as an artist, and between Billboard and the international number ones and the radio numbers...I couldn't be more blessed to have the fans that I have."
Lady Gaga Central
Fittingly for such a milestone, the first single and title track from Lady Gaga's third album, due May 23, arrives in record-breaking fashion.
On Radio Songs, the Hot 100's airplay component chart, "Born This Way" begins at No. 6 with a first-week audience of 78.5 million. That's the highest bow and largest opening airplay figure for a song since the tally began incorporating all radio formats in December 1998.
The arrival of "Born This Way" bests the previous debut record on Radio Songs, set when Janet Jackson's "All for You" soared in at No. 9 with 70 million in 2001.
With opening-week digital sales of 448,000, "Born This Way" likewise breaks barriers with the largest debut sum for a female artist. Britney Spears established the prior mark four weeks ago upon, the arrival of "Hold It Against Me" (411,000).
The opening of "Born" marks the third-largest debut among all digital tracks. Flo Rida's "Right Round" started with 636,000 in February 2009 and the Black Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow" with 465,000 two months later.
Notably, "Born This Way" rewrites airplay and digital history after just five days of availability at radio and three days at online retailers.
The song is also just the 19th title to debut at No. 1 in the Hot 100's history.
Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 Debuts
The 1,000th Hot 100 No. 1 is Lady Gaga's third chart leader, following her first two singles: "Just Dance," featuring Colby O'Donis (the 968th No. 1), and "Poker Face" (972), both in 2009.
The Hot 100 currently ranks titles by employing a formula measuring radio airplay, as tabulated by Nielsen BDS; sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan; and, streaming activity data.
The weekly survey launched in the pages of Billboard magazine in the issue dated Aug. 4, 1958, with Ricky Nelson's "Poor Little Fool" reigning over the inaugural listing.
Among notable historic No. 1s, the Beatles' first of their record 20 toppers, "I Want to Hold Your Hand" (the 104th No. 1), reached the pinnacle the week of Feb. 1, 1964.
Mariah Carey tallied her first No. 1 Aug. 4, 1990 (the chart's 32nd anniversary), with "Vision of Love," her first of 18 No. 1s, the most among women. Her "One Sweet Day," with Boyz II Men, logged the chart's longest reign - 16 weeks - in 1995-96.
Michael Jackson, the leader among solo males with 13 No. 1s, first reigned as a solo artist on the Hot 100 dated Oct. 14, 1972, with "Ben."
Having reached No. 1 the week of March 21, 1981, REO Speedwagon's "Keep on Loving You" represents the chart's 500th leader.
P.M. Dawn's "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss" (the 761st No. 1) marked the chart's first champion since the Hot 100 converted to BDS electronically-monitored airplay measurement and SoundScan point-of-sale data in November 1991.
Breaking down the Hot 100's history by decade, 226 songs ruled in the '50s/'60s; 253 in the '70s; 231 in the '80s; 140 in the '90s; and, 150 beginning in 2000.
With the chart's 1,000 No. 1s spread over 2,743 weeks, the average leader has spent 2.74 weeks at the top spot.
Only one song has made trips to the summit in each of two chart runs. Chubby Checker's "The Twist" led the Sept. 24, 1960, chart. Re-released, it returned to No. 1 the weeks of Jan. 13-20, 1962.
When Billboard celebrated the Hot 100's 50th anniversary in 2008, Checker's dance classic ranked as the top title of the chart's first half-century.
All charts will be refreshed tomorrow (Feb. 17) on Billboard.com.

Congrats to GaGa. 448,000 sales is amazing, but 1000th number one is probably one of the best records she can get. That's not something that can be beaten. Love #1, #3, #6, #7 and #8. Like #4, #5 and #10 too. #2 and #9... meh.
Well to be fair, 999 other songs already got there first, and it's not really a record because...(blah blah blah Hijinx complaining about the insignificance of zeros blah blah blah hexidecimal numbering blah blah blah)
I'm with Hijinx, it's not a record to get the 1000th #1. It's merely a piece of information that can be used for trivia nights. Plenty of more memorable songs have got to #1 and they have really boring numbers like 746, doesn't mean they are any less significant than Lady GaGa's #1.
And 448 000 is impressive but nowhere near the record.
at firework, does it ever die? lol !! 1000th #1 is really cool, but wasnt that katy perry I kissed a girl, or have I gotten that confused with some other chart
anyways, australia is like 23 or 24 #1s away from our 1000th, will be interesting to see what we get !
I think IKAG was the thousandth number one for the rock era, which begins in 1955. BTW is the 1000th number one for the Hot 100, which began in 1958. Isn't 448K the 3rd or 4th highest ever? I think I read that. I dunno.
I was just trying to put into persepective GaGa's acheivement and woring through the ridiculous amount of hyperboles that are being thrown around about her acheivements this week which ignore plenty of other information to make her out to be the secomd coming of what ever deity you decide needs to return to Earth.
And 392 brings up another point, so this is the 1000th #1 on Hot 100 but just a random #1 when you include the official start to the rock era that Billboard usually uses. All this fame is subjective and personally is in overdrive and overkill with GaGa.
i hope firework doesn't die!!! gives it a better opportunity of being #1 on the year end chart although i suspect it's rise this week is due to it's use in glee, meaning it is likely to descend over the coming weeks.
If it's just another chart topper, why does Billboard make such a fuss over it? I mean, look at the magazine issue cover: http://tinyurl.com/4djpqcl I also kinda don't get what you said after the word "secomd."
Use your thesaurus 392 to work it out and educate yourself while you are at it.
Billboard covers can be bought. As a subscriber to the magazine it pretty much gets bought every issue so a company can promote a single artist. That's all that is happening here, turning a non event into an event to fool gullible people. Last edited:
not really billybrett, its the 1000th #1, they would of given who ever got it a front cover anyway, also your doing the opposite, trying to make gaga's achievement not much - I dont know if you like gaga or not, but either way - its the biggest debut ever for a female artist onto the charts, that CANT be denied, least not til someone beats it.
the 1000th #1 is an achievement, because its #1, but you are correct its no more an achievement then #1 746
I was gonna write alot more but then I had dinner and ive forgotten
An achievement NOT a record, I;m happy for that word to be used as opposed to record. And I was only trying to point out that for all the hooha over how much she has sold it is not the massive amount of the actual highest ever regardless of gender. The GaGa nutters are trying to pretend she sold a truckload of hits like never before when in fact she hasn't.
It's a statistic not a record!!! You might as well say that 634th single to reach No#.1 is a record too, because it was the 634th single to reach No#.1 and no other single will take that honour...like get real peolpe!!!
It's a great achievement to reach No#.1 on any level for anyone...
And the cover, she's on it because she's the most popular artist in the world....it will sell magazines (which is the whole point of making magazines, to sell and make a profit!!!). Like when do you ever see a nobody on the cover of a magazine.
The magazine is about 1 week old when I get that, but I can also access everything online in the full chart including charts not in the paper eg Canadian Top 100 as opposed to just the Top 50. and all the other little crappycharts that no one cares about.

Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' Grows Atop Grammy-Fueled Hot 100
Source: gagadaily.com
A week after the Billboard Hot 100 welcomed Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" as the 1,000th No. 1 in its storied history, the chart-topping counter remains frozen at that milestone number, as "Born This Way" refuses to relinquish its standing to the other Grammy Awards-fueled contenders that leap up the list.
"Born This Way" improves upon its opening-week sales frame, shifting 509,000 downloads (up 14%), according to Nielsen SoundScan. As reported yesterday, the sum marks the fourth-largest for any digital track.
The song is also the first No. 1-debuting title on Digital Songs to post an increase in its second week, since Beyoncé's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" in December 2008.
On Radio Songs, "Born This Way" bump up two places from its record-setting No. 6 debut with a 7% increase to 84 million audience impressions, per Nielsen BDS. That single-digit percentage gain might not seem like much when comparing this week's seven-day cycle to last week's five-day sum, but considering how frequently the track was played upon its debut -- some stations spun it multiple times an hour -- a gain at all after such a heralded launch is impressive.
"Born This Way" leads an all Grammys-fueled top five on Digital Songs, as each of the tracks were featured on CBS' broadcast of the 53rd annual gala Feb. 13.
The festivities' main beneficiary is Cee Lo Green, whose raucous rendition of "F**k You (Forget You)," with guest vocals by Gwyneth Paltrow and a backing band of Muppets, spurs a 178% gain for the track to 412,000 downloads and the No. 2 standing on the digital sales tally.
The song's improvement is enough to earn the title the Greatest Gainer/Digital award on the Hot 100, where it jumps 7-2. It also claims the Greatest Gainer/Airplay tag, as its radio resurgence continues with a 19-14 leap on Radio Songs (up 22% to 62.6 million in audience).
Dr. Dre's long-awaited return to the broadcast stage prompts a 14-3 reversal on Digital Songs and a more dramatic 32-4 Hot 100 scamper, as "I Need a Doctor," featuring Eminem and Skylar Grey, shifts 283,000 downloads (up 172%). Two weeks ago, the song started at No. 1 on Digital Songs and No. 5 on the Hot 100 before exhibiting expected sharp second-week declines last week.
Justin Bieber's energetic Grammy Awards turn with "Never Say Never" propels the song 12-4 on Digital Songs (199,000 downloads, up 67%) and 25-8 on the Hot 100. Of Bieber's now-16 Hot 100 hits -- he also debuts at No. 74 with "Born to Be Somebody" -- "Never Say Never" is, surprisingly, only the second top 10 for the newly-shorn singer. The artist, who opens atop this week's Billboard 200 album chart, previously traversed the upper tier only with "Baby" (No. 5) a year ago this month.
Justin Bieber Scores No. 1 Album with 'Never Say Never Remixes'
Bruno Mars' "Grenade," performed in classic R&B fashion by the singer on the Grammy Awards broadcast, rebounds 8-5 on Digital Songs (180,000, up 25%) and holds at No. 3 on the Hot 100.
Addressing the rest of the Hot 100's top 10, Katy Perry's "Firework" fizzles 2-5, a spot ahead of P!nk's "F**kin' Perfect" (5-6). Rihanna whips 8-7 with "S&M," Enrique Iglesias slips three spots to No. 9 with "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)," featuring Ludacris and DJ Frank E, and Wiz Khalifa tumbles 4-10 with "Black and Yellow," just two weeks removed from its No. 1 ranking.
New Boyz bank the Hot 100's top new entry, as "Backseat," featuring the Cataracs and Dev (who helped send Far*East Movement's "Like a G6" to No. 1) is the Hot Shot Debut at No. 37. The song previews the duo's sophomore album, "Too Cool to Care," due May 10.
Katy Perry and Mumford & Sons each make lofty Hot 100 returns. Perry's "E.T.," which appeared on the list for a week in September as a "Teenage Dream" preview cut, returns at No. 28 after having been anointed the fourth radio single from the Grammy-nominated set. Assisting its re-entry is the new single version featuring Kanye West, which sells 110,000 downloads in its first week of release, accounting for 92% of the title's overall digital sum (No. 12 on Digital Songs).
Mumford & Sons' "Little Lion Man" re-enters the Hot 100 at No. 45 in its 22nd week on the list, besting its prior peak of No. 61 achieved in November. The Grammy effect not only bumps the band's former No. 1 Alternative Songs track 58-36 on Digital Songs (71,000, up 59%), but it also lifts the act's current top 10 Alternative Songs hit, "The Cave," 68-11 on the digital tally (120,000, up 205%) after the band performed the song on the Grammy stage. On the Hot 100, "The Cave" catapults 68-27.
After exceeding Elvis Presley's long-standing record for most charted Hot 100 hits a week ago (113 to 108), the "Glee" cast ups its count to 117 with four debuts. Two are Justin Bieber remakes -- "Baby" (No. 47) and "Somebody to Love" (No. 62) -- while a cover of My Chemical Romance's "Sing" and the "Rent" anthem "Take Me or Leave Me" start at Nos. 49 and 51, respectively (and MCR's original "Sing" bounds 92-58).
'Glee' Tops Elvis Presley's Record for Most Hot 100 Hits
All four "Glee" tracks premiered on the Bieber-centric episode "Somebody to Love" Feb. 15. At No. 90, the cast's version of "Forget You," featuring Paltrow, re-enters the Hot 100 (having reached No. 11 in December) with a 40% increase in digital sales to 29,000. In all, four songs by Bieber and five by the "Glee" cast populate this week's Hot 100.
Lady Gaga’s single “Born This Way” spends its second week on top of the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first song since 2003 to hold the position after a number one debut.
In only ten days, the track sold 957,000 copies (in the U.S.) and is already the best-selling 2011 release.

Great to see Adele achieving success in the US. Rolling In The Deep has also gone Top 20 this week, with SOmeone lIke You debuting in the Bottom 50 (if memory serves me right). Just a pity that Mumford was unable to get a #1 jersey.
Glad GaGa has managed to hold off Cee-Lo from the top spot. And great to see J-Lo blast into the Top 10 in her first week.
'Born This Way' debuts at #9 on American Top 40 (measured from mainstream airplay and a little bit of voting) this week. According to Ryan Seacrest, it's the highest debut since "Let It Be" by The Beatles, all the way back 41 years ago. I'm trying to find out where that debuted at. Congrats GaGa!

With Lady Gaga locked in at No. 1 for a fourth week and only one song entering the top 10, Britney Spears makes the Billboard Hot 100's splashiest headlines, debuting at No. 20 with "Till the World Ends."
Although she snaps a string of two consecutive No. 1 debuts ("3" and "Hold It Against Me"), a feat only she and Mariah Carey have managed, Spears logs the fifth-highest-debuting of her 25 Hot 100 entries.
"World," the second single from "Femme Fatale," due March 29, arrives with 117,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, after three days of availability. ("Hold," the set's lead track, launched at No. 1 seven weeks ago with 411,000 downloads after six days on sale).
"World," co-written by Ke$ha, concurrently starts at No. 68 on Radio Songs with 16.8 million out-of-the-box audience impressions on 145 stations, according to Nielsen BDS.
Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" banks a fourth week -- its entire chart life -- atop the Hot 100. The song is the first to begin at No. 1 and remain on top for as many as four frames since Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" (also four) in 1998.
Four other songs have launched with as much lasting fanfare: Mariah Carey's "Fantasy" (its first eight weeks, 1995); Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" (16, 1995-96); Puff Daddy (as he was then credited) and Faith Evans' "I'll Be Missing You," featuring 112 (11, 1997); and, Elton John's "Candle in the Wind 1997"/"Something About the Way You Look Tonight" (14, 1997-98). "Born" is the only such song to achieve the feat in the digital era.
Two other notable movers shake up the Hot 100's top 10.
Following the premiere of the "On the Floor" video on the March 3 "American Idol" episode, new judge Jennifer Lopez's first top 10 as a lead artist since 2003 jumps 9-5 as the Digital Gainer in its second chart week. Sales swell by 31% to 223,000 downloads sold.
"Floor" is the first song to debut in the Hot 100's top 10 and increase in position and chart points in its second week since P!nk's eventual No. 1 "So What" rose 9-3 in its second frame the week of Sept. 13, 2008.
Two spots below Lopez, Ke$ha's "Blow" blasts 11-7. The second single from "Cannibal," following the No. 1 "We R Who We R," rises 10-6 on Digital Songs (164,000, up 27%). Ke$ha has now sent all six of her singles as a lead artist into the Hot 100's top 10. She also reached No. 9 last May as a guest on 3OH!3's "My First Kiss."
Rounding out the top 10, Cee-Lo Green's "F**k You (Forget You)" claims Airplay Gainer honors and holds at No. 2 for a third consecutive week. The song pushes 6-4 on Radio Songs (97 million in audience, up 20%).
Rihanna's "S&M" surges 5-3 on the Hot 100, passing P!nk's "F**kin' Perfect" (4-4), and Bruno Mars' "Grenade" descends 3-6.
Katy Perry places two songs in the top 10 for a second consecutive week. "E.T.," featuring Kanye West, holds at No. 8, rising 57-38 on Radio Songs (33 million, up 66%), and "Firework" falls 6-10.
In between Perry's songs, Enrique Iglesias' "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)," featuring Ludacris and DJ Frank E, slips 7-9.
Eight additional debuts join Spears' "World" in entering the Hot 100, led by Foo Fighters' "Rope" (No. 70), the No. 1 title on Rock Songs.
Ousted 2011 "American Idol" hopeful Chris Medina's "What Are Words" bows at No. 83. Proceeds of the song's sales benefit a fund established to assist Medina's fiancee, Juliana Ramos, who suffered a brain injury.
After she co-hosted "The Oprah Winfrey Show" March 1, 10-year-old Willow Smith re-enters her debut hit, "Whip My Hair," at No. 86 (25,000 downloads, up 41%) and charts her follow-up, "21st Century Girl," at No. 99 (23,000 first-week downloads).
Lady Gaga’s latest smash “Born This Way” extends its Billboard Hot 100 dominance to five weeks, with 176,000 digital copies sold and more than 105 million audience impressions.
The track is the longest-running number one on the chart since Eminem’s “Love The Way You Lie,” which occupied the top spot for seven weeks last year. Get “Born This Way” CD Single at Best Buy
“Born This Way” remains the best-selling single of 2011, with over 1,650,000 digital copies sold in the U.S. to date. The release of the remixes EP is expected to help the song become Gaga’s eighth consecutive 2-million-seller in less than a month.
“Born This Way” is the first single from Lady Gaga’s forthcoming album of the same title, due out on May 23rd. The RedOne-produced “Judas” is set to be released as the record’s second single in early May.

Five weeks for GaGa! Something else to compare to OSD I believe Love everything else in the top ten except E.T. which is kinda average. Surprised to see Lupe #1 on the albums side of things.
Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" is #1 for a 6TH WEEK!!
Katy Perry's "E.T", peaks at #2!!

Lady Gaga maintains her lock atop the Billboard Hot 100 to be released tomorrow (Mar. 24), while the cast of Fox's musical sitcom "Glee" roars in with seven debuting titles.
Gaga's "Born This Way" spends a sixth consecutive week -- its entire chart life -- at the Hot 100's summit. The lead single and title track from her third studio album, due May 23, becomes her second No. 1 on Radio Songs (3-1), following "Paparazzi" in 2009, and gains by 3% to 182,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Lady Gaga: 'Rebecca Black Is a Genius'
What clinches its sustained residence in the Hot 100's penthouse this week, however, is a now-rarely-influential chart component: physical singles sales.
A four-song CD single, featuring the original version of "Born" and three remixes, registered sales of 24,000 in its first full week at retail.
That sales sum is enough to keep "Born" at the Hot 100's apex in a close race with the runner-up, Katy Perry's "E.T.," featuring Kanye West, which pushes 3-2. "E.T." spends a second frame at No. 1 on Digital Songs (261,000 downloads sold, up 21%) and flies 24-13 on Radio Songs (55 million audience impressions, up 24%, according to Nielsen BDS).
Katy Perry Dominates Digital Songs, 'E.T.' Climbs Hot 100
Meanwhile, the "Glee" cast registers the second-best digital sales week for any of its singles, as "Loser Like Me" soars onto the Hot 100 at No. 6, and Digital Songs at No. 2, with 210,000 downloads. Its cover of Perry's "Teenage Dream" represents its best weekly sum (214,000, the week of Nov. 27, 2010).
The Fox TV troupe also starts at No. 16 on the Hot 100 with "Get It Right" (151,000 downloads). The tracks mark the ensemble's first recordings of songs written specifically for the series. With five other debuts, the "Glee" cast's seven new Hot 100 entries sold a combined 712,000 downloads in the chart's tracking week.
Two other original "Glee" songs -- the wry "Big Ass Heart" (10,000 downloads) and "Trouty Mouth" (7,000) -- registered notable sales but fall short of denting this week's Hot 100 and Digital Songs surveys.
Rounding out the Hot 100's top 10, Rihanna's "S&M" (4-3) claims Airplay Gainer honors for a second consecutive week. The track jumps 8-5 on Radio Songs (93 million in audience, up 20%).
Cee-Lo Green's "F**k You (Forget You)" dips to No. 4 after four weeks at No. 2 and the Black Eyed Peas benefit from their appearance Thursday (March 17) on "American Idol," as the song they performed, "Just Can't Get Enough," blasts 22-5 as the Hot 100's Digital Gainer. The cut bounds 18-3 on Digital Songs (198,000, up 143%).
P!nk's "F**kin' Perfect" descends 6-7 and Chris Brown's "Look at Me Now," featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes, leaps 12-8 to become Brown's first Hot 100 top 10 since "Forever," which peaked at No. 2 in August 2008 - six months prior to his assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna. "Look" is Brown's 10th Hot 100 top 10; he logged his prior nine between 2005 and 2008.
Bruno Mars' "Grenade" diffuses 7-9 on the Hot 100 and Jeremih's "Down on Me," featuring 50 Cent, enters the top 10 (13-10). Jeremih previously ranked in the top tier with his debut smash "Birthday Sex" (No. 4 peak in June 2009).
"Down" is 50 Cent's lucky 13th Hot 100 top 10 and first since the No. 1 "Crack a Bottle" with Eminem and Dr. Dre in 2009.
Also notably, teen internet sensation Rebecca Black enters the Hot 100 at No. 72 with "Friday." The song bows on Digital Songs at No. 57 with 37,000 downloads sold.
Rebecca Black's First-Week Sales High, But Not in Millions
Radio, however, is so far largely avoiding playing Black's widely-panned track. While morning drive programs are discussing (and, thus, adding to) the song's buzz, it garnered just 12 plays in its entirety in the March 16-22 tracking week among the more than 1,200 stations monitored by BDS for the Radio Songs ranking.
The most commercially successful song of Lady's career!
Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” begins its sixth week at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The track remains a hit on the radio with over 110 million audience impressions and sells 182,000 digital copies, which brings its total downloads to 1.8 million.
$1.8 MILLION!! WTF OMG! how does she sleep at night, with all that money to think about.
The four-track CD single, which was released last Tuesday and features remixes of “Born This Way,” sold more than 24,000 copies in its first week. This is more than the majority of Gaga’s previous physical singles, including “Poker Face” and “Telephone” registered in their entire chart run.

Lady Gaga Makes U.S. Digital Sales History
The Recording Industry Association of America has recognized Lady Gaga as the highest-certified artist in the digital sales history.
Her multi-platinum hits “Just Dance,” “Poker Face,” “Bad Romance,” “Paparazzi,” and “LoveGame” have sold 20 million downloads in the U.S. to date.
This number doesn’t include sales of Gaga’s other multi-million sellers “Telephone” feat. Beyoncé, “Alejandro” and “Born This Way,” which are yet to receive a certification from RIAA.
Pop stars Rihanna and Taylor Swift are not far behind with singles certifications of 19 million and 18.5 million, respectively.

Obviously sad to see Gaga drop from #1, but she's started off so much better than I expected her to. 6 weeks doesn't happen all that often, especially for a #1 debut.
Katy's finally growing on me, especially with the clip, so alright to see her at #1, probably would prefer Rihanna by a small margin though.
Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" becomes the first album in more than six years to yield four No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, as "E.T.," featuring Kanye West, rises 2-1 with Airplay Gainer honors.
The space-age love song follows "California Gurls," featuring Snoop Dogg, the title cut and "Firework" to the chart's summit, making Perry's second Capitol Records album the first to yield a quartet of Hot 100 No. 1s since Usher's "Confessions" in 2004.
"Teenage Dream" is just the ninth album to produce four No. 1s in the Hot 100's 52-year history. It's the first by a solo female since Mariah Carey's eponymous debut set in 1990-91.
"I am so thrilled that 'E.T.' has landed at No. 1," Perry tells Billboard.com. "I want to thank all the fans who contributed to this amazing feat and radio, which has been an essential part of my continued existence. I truly appreciate all the support of my creative twists and turns."
"Can't wait to share the video with you tomorrow," Perry adds, teasing the premiere of the "E.T." clip at noon ET tomorrow on MTV.com and VEVO.
On Digital Songs, "E.T." spends a third week at No. 1, logging sales of 254,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The song concurrently reaches the top 10 on Radio Songs (13-10; 74 million audience impressions, up 35%, according to Nielsen BDS).
"E.T." is Perry's fifth Hot 100 No. 1. Prior to her current album, her 2008 release "One of the Boys" generated the seven-week leader "I Kissed a Girl."
"E.T." marks West's fourth No. 1 and first since "Stronger" in 2007.
The song outpaces Rihanna's "S&M" (3-2) and Cee Lo Green's "F**k You (Forget You)," which rebounds 4-3 after peaking at No. 2 for four weeks. Despite its much-heralded airplay odyssey, due largely to its lyrical content, the latter track reaches the Radio Songs apex (2-1, 111 million in audience, up 7%) in its 18th week on the chart.
Perry's new Hot 100 No. 1 pushes Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" from No. 1 to 4 after spending its first six chart weeks in charge. As previously reported, the first single and title cut from Lady Gaga's new album, due May 23, becomes her record-tying seventh No. 1 on the Pop Songs radio airplay chart.
The Black Eyed Peas' "Just Can't Get Enough" holds at No. 5 on the Hot 100 and Wiz Khalifa's "No Sleep" roars in as the Hot Shot Debut at No. 6. "Sleep" starts at No. 2 on Digital Songs (244,000 downloads).
The Pittsburgh rapper, who topped the Hot 100 with his debut smash "Black and Yellow" in February, also claims Digital Gainer honors with "Roll Up," which jumps 45-29 (74,000, up 45%).
Following his heavily-publicized "Good Morning America" appearance last week, Chris Brown rises 8-7 on the Hot 100 with "Look at Me Now," featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes. The track swaps spots with P!nk's "F**kin' Perfect" (7-8).
Chris Brown Nets First No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart
As previously reported, Brown scores his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200, as "F.A.M.E." launches atop the album list. Another track from the set, "Next 2 You," featuring Justin Bieber, begins at No. 26 on the Hot 100.
Jeremih's "Down on Me," featuring 50 Cent, pushes 10-9 and Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor," featuring Pitbull, returns to the top 10 (13-10). The latter title, which peaked at No. 5 for two weeks, climbs 8-7 on Digital Songs (143,000, up 3%) and 42-34 on Radio Songs (33 million, up 24%).
"Floor" concurrently becomes Lopez's sixth consecutive No. 1, and ninth overall, on Billboard's Dance/Club Play Songs chart.
G'day, here's this weeks top 10 US albums & singles, week ending 16/04/2011.

Britney Spears Snares Sixth No. 1 on Billboard 200 with 'Femme Fatale'
Source: billboard.com
Britney Spears flies in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with her sixth chart-topping album, "Femme Fatale," selling 276,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The feat ties her for the third-most No. 1s among women with Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson. Only Barbra Streisand (nine No. 1s) and Madonna (seven) have earned more No. 1s.
Spears has hit the top with six out of her seven studio albums, only missing with 2007's "Blackout," which debuted and peaked at No. 2 (290,000).
Her last effort, 2008's "Circus," started more robustly than "Femme Fatale," as it launched at No. 1 with 506,000 following its Dec. 2 release. "Femme Fatale's" debut of 276,000 is Spears' second-lowest sales start with a studio set -- only her 1999 debut effort, "Baby One More Time," began with a smaller figure (121,000 at No. 1).
Though, one could conclude that "Circus" was a more highly-anticipated album, in that it was seen as a "comeback" after a number of years where Spears' personal and professional life was in chaotic high-gear. "Circus" was ushered in by the No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 single "Womanizer" -- complete with a return-to-sexy-form music video.
"Femme Fatale," however, isn't a comeback album. There's nothing to come back from, aside from great success. Spears sold 1.7 million of "Circus" in the U.S., snared three top 20 Hot 100 singles from the set, and mounted a blockbuster global tour.
While "Femme Fatale's" first single, "Hold It Against Me," debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100, it quickly peaked at No. 3 on the Mainstream Top 40 radio airplay chart -- Spears' home turf format on the airwaves.
This week, it falls 19-26 in its 12th week on the list. The album's second single, "Till the World Ends," earns a bullet at No. 14 on the list, but stands still in its fourth week. To compare, "Womanizer" had climbed to No. 5 with a bullet when "Circus" debuted on the Billboard 200 -- and it reached No. 1 two weeks later.
Also worth noting is that "Femme Fatale" is Spears' first album to see a spring release in over a decade. While her first set dropped in January of 1999 and her second offering, 2000's "Oops! ... I Did It Again," came out in May of 2000, the rest of her catalog (even her hits packages and remix sets) were issued during the always-busy shopping period of November-December.
And, not like anyone needs to be reminded -- but album sales just aren't what they used to be. Even if it's been less than two-and-a-half years since "Circus."
Finally, perhaps Spears' tepidly-received "Good Morning America" performance on "Femme Fatale's" street date (March 29) put a damper on the set's first-week festivities. The social buzz ranged from critiques on her tentative dancing to commentary about her unusually husky voice. She also hit the stage the same night on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" to moderately better notices.
Spears isn't the only big news on the Billboard 200 this week however, as Wiz Khalifa comes in at No. 2 with his major label debut, "Rolling Papers," selling 197,000. He's already topped the Billboard Hot 100 with "Black and Yellow" and bowed in the top 10 last week with "No Sleep."
Adele's "21" holds at No. 3 (94,000; down 2%), Chris Brown's "F.A.M.E." slides 1-4 (91,000; down 66%) and the "Songs For Japan" charity compilation posts an increase in sales after its first full week in release, climbing 6-5 (71,000; up 5%).
The mainstream release of Radiohead's "The King of Limbs" enables the album's bow at No. 6 (69,000) while Jennifer Hudson's "I Remember Me" slips 2-7 (56,000; down 66%). Snoop Dogg's "Doggumentary" arrives at No. 8 (50,000) -- the hip-hop king's 11th top 10 -- while Kirk Franklin's "Hello Fear" slides 5-9 (46,000; down 47%). Closing out the top 10 is gospel duo Mary Mary with "Something Big" starting with 42,000 at No. 10, the third top 10 effort for the act.
Switching gears to the Digital Songs chart, Katy Perry's "E.T." holds at No. 1, selling another 327,000 downloads (up 29%), following the premiere of its out-of-this-world music video last week. The Black Eyed Peas' "Just Can't Get Enough" moves up 3-2 (203,000; down 7%), Rihanna's "S&M" is also up one, 4-3 (159,000; down 4%).
Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor" (featuring Pitbull) rises 7-4 (138,000; down 4%), Chris Brown's "Look at Me Now" (featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes) climbs 8-5 (137,000; down 4%) and Khalifa's "No Sleep" slides 2-6 (135,000; down 45%). Cee Lo Green's "F**k You (Forget You)" drops 5-7 (134,000; down 14%), Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" descends 6-8 (129,000; down 12%) and Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" rises 11-9 (122,000; up 16%). Finally, at No. 10, we find the fast-rising "John" from Lil Wayne, shifting 116,000 (up 134%).
Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending April 3) totaled 6.62 million units, up 2% compared to the sum last week (6.48 million) and down 3% compared to the comparable sales week of 2010 (6.84 million). Year to date album sales stand at 77.82 million, down 5% compared to the same total at this point last year (81.96 million).
Digital track sales this past week totaled 24.52 million downloads, down 1% compared to last week (24.78 million) and up 8% stacked next to the comparable week of 2010 (22.68 million). Year to date track sales are at 339.12 million, up 9% compared to the same total at this point last year (312.38 million).
Next week's Billboard 200 competes with the same week in 2010 when: Justin Bieber's "My World 2.0" returned to the No. 1 slot with 102,000 (down 65%) and Usher's "Raymond v Raymond" fell from the penthouse to No. 2 (92,000; down 72%). Slash's self-titled album was the top debut, arriving in third place with 60,000.
From Billboard: With E.T. reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the "Teenage Dream" album becomes only the 9th ever album to generate at least four #1 hits there. The last album to achieve this was Usher's "Confessions", but the 4th #1 My Boo was only on the special edition re-release of the album. Some of the other albums to achieve this honour include the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack, Whitney Houston's second album "Whitney", George Michael's "Faith" and Mariah Carey's self-titled (first) album. But only Michael Jackson's "Bad" had more than four #1's, achieving a record five #1's in 1987/88: "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" (1 wk); "Bad" (2 wks), "The Way You Make Me Feel" (1 wk), "Man in the Mirror" (2 wks) and "Dirty Diana" (1 wk).

"Last Friday Night" will definitely make #1, looking at how massively this is doing amongst the relatively strong competition and how big the video effect was. That's five. She could get six #1's, depending on what they release next. TOTGA is strong material etc, probably wouldn't get it on its own, but with the video, yeah, she could break that. [/bsb]
Adele is rocking it worldwide!!! Methinks she's a sure thing for next years Grammy's. Last Friday Night has hit written all over it. The only thing that will let it down is that everyone SHOULD have the album by now! What is up with Cee-Lo Green's unreasonably long chart run!
Rihanna's "S&M" rises 2-1 on the Billboard Hot 100 to be released tomorrow (Apr. 21) on Billboard.com, granting the singer her 10th No. 1 on the survey and ownership of a pair of historic chart records.
Having first reigned atop the Hot 100 the week of May 13, 2006, with "SOS," Rihanna logs the shortest span between a solo artist's first and 10th No. 1s in the chart's 52-year history, a stretch of four years, 11 months and two weeks. (This week's charts are dated Apr. 30, 2011).
Rihanna bests the five-year, four-month span between current Island Def Jam labelmate Mariah Carey's first ("Vision of Love," Aug. 4, 1990) and 10th ("One Sweet Day," Dec. 2, 1995) toppers to complete the quickest sprint to 10 Hot 100 No. 1s among solo artists. (Carey collected the first 15 of her 18 career No. 1s while signed to Columbia Records).
Among all acts, Rihanna trails only the Beatles (one year, eight months and one week) and the Supremes (two years, eight months and three weeks) for the fastest accumulation of 10 Hot 100 No. 1s.
Rihanna is additionally the youngest artist to notch 10 No. 1s in the Hot 100's archives. At 23 years, two months and one week, Rihanna (born Feb. 20, 1988) eclipses the mark established by Carey, who was 25 years, eight months and one week old when she tallied her 10th Hot 100 leader.
Rihanna is just the ninth artist to total at least 10 Hot 100 No. 1s and the fifth solo female, following Carey (18), Madonna (12), Whitney Houston (11) and Janet Jackson (10). (The Beatles lead all acts with 20 career No. 1s; Michael Jackson has the most (13) among solo males. In addition to the Supremes (12), Stevie Wonder (10) is the other act with at least 10 Hot 100 leaders).
"S&M" ascends to the Hot 100's summit fueled by the first full week of digital sales for the song's "Rih-mix" featuring Britney Spears.
All versions of the song, which claims the Hot 100's Digital Gainer award and becomes Rihanna's record-extending 10th No. 1 on Digital Songs, sold a combined 293,000 downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan, a 108% increase over last week. The Spears-assisted version of the track accounted for 66% of the song's overall weekly digital sum.
S&M" spends a third week at No. 1 on Radio Songs (124 million audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS).
Now listed as featured artist on "S&M," Spears earns her fifth Hot 100 No. 1 and second this year, following her own "Hold It Against Me" in January. She had previously reigned with her debut single "...Baby One More Time" in 1999 and returned to the summit with "Womanizer" (2008) and "3" (2009).
"S&M" displaces Katy Perry's "E.T.," featuring Kanye West (No. 2), after three weeks atop the Hot 100. Although the song's airplay continues to build, as it spends a second week at No. 2 on Radio Songs (122 million in audience, up 13%), securing the Hot 100's Airplay Gainer nod, its digital sales decline by 12% to 284,000.
The Hot 100's highest debut belongs to Lady Gaga, whose "Judas," the heavily-anticipated second single from "Born This Way" (due May 23), soars in at No. 10.
After being serviced to radio and released to iTunes Friday afternoon (Apr. 15), "Judas" charges onto Digital Songs at No. 4 with 162,000 downloads sold.
By comparison, "Born This Way" began with sales of 448,000 on the Digital Songs chart dated Feb. 26. "Born" was similarly posted to iTunes on a Friday (Feb. 11), although it arrived at the retailer in the early morning (ET), whereas "Judas" hit the online store early Friday afternoon. (The SoundScan tracking week ends at the close of business each Sunday night).
On Radio Songs, "Judas" starts at No. 48 with 26 million in audience. ("Born" launched at No. 6 on Radio Songs with 78.5 million in audience, both a record debut rank and first-week audience sum since the chart began incorporating all radio formats in December 1998).
Benefitting from the buzz of being an album's lead single, "Born" became just the 19th song to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100. Still, the No. 10 start for "Judas" marks Lady Gaga's third- highest entrance; "Bad Romance" -- the lead track from her "The Fame Monster" EP -- debuted at No. 9 in November 2009.
Following its first full week at retail and radio, "Judas" could vault to the upper reaches of next week's Hot 100.
Rounding out the rest of this week's top 10 on the Hot 100, the Black Eyed Peas' "Just Can't Get Enough" holds at No. 3, followed by Jeremih's "Down on Me," featuring 50 Cent (6-4), Cee Lo Green's "F**k You (Forget You)" (4-5), Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" (10-6), Chris Brown's "Look at Me Now," featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes (7-7), Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor," featuring Pitbull (9-8), and Britney Spears' "Till the World Ends" (8-9).
All charts, including the Hot 100, Digital Songs and Radio Songs, will be refreshed tomorrow on Billboard.com.

I'm surprised by the longevity of Taoi Cruz's song. Go ADELE!
@bluezombie: consider the artist you just used for this, and consider their big collaboration hit, having considered it, consider the other collaborator on that song. As much as all this considering is, I'd like you to further consider that artist's latest charting song. With that song, I'd like you to remove spaces, punctuation etc. Take what you have, and replace each individual character with the character that sits to their immediate right on the keyboard (Use warping where needed, eg M -> Z). Forum search that atrocity.

CONGRATULATIONS!! 1 MILLION COPIES! in a week OMG!
LADY IS THE NEW MADONNA! of this digital era! welcome!
Reviving the interest in legal downloads?
In this digital age, to achieve those high figures, is amazing!
I agree with Troy, getting people to purchase albums legally, is an excellent idea, to combat the popularity of illegal downloafs!
Has Lady Gaga saved the music industry?
Source: gagadaily.com
Lady Gaga has earned her first number one album in the United States. The freshly-released Born This Way debuts atop the Billboard 200 with more than 1,108,000 copies sold in its first week, outselling the rest of the top 20 combined.
Born This Way scores the biggest first-week sales since 50 Cent’s The Massacre (2005) and becomes only the ninth fastest-selling album in the U.S. ever.
What makes Lady Gaga’s achievement even more impressive is the fact that album sales have decreased 65% over the last ten years.
With sales going down year after year, do you think Gaga will be able to deliver another 1 million opening week with her next record? Let us know in the comments below!
It should be noted that least 300k copies came from Amazon’s promotion, which made Born This Way available for just 99 cents to draw interest in the company’s new cloud service.
However, Lady Gaga’s manager Troy Carter does not view the deal as a chart manipulation, but rather as an opportunity to get more fans listen to the music legally. “Although we weren’t aware of Amazon’s deal, I applaud them for their efforts,” he said. “Anytime we can get people to purchase music legally, it’s a good thing for the business.”
Born This Way has also made its debut at number one on official charts in the UK, Ireland, Canada, Germany, France, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

Fantastic re-entry for The Book Of Mormom soundtrack. It's a fantastic piece of Broadway with the expected wit and rudeness from the South Park creators. It gently mocks the Broadway musical while also repescting it at the same time. It's currently #1 on my album chart. It's the highest ranking Broadway Cast Recording for over 40 years, when Hair was #1 on Billboard. It definitely deserved the win for composition, and if I lived in New York I would be snapping up a ticket straight away to see how it looks live.
A reasonably respectable and decent Top 10 singles chart for the US. For them, it has a decent amount of variety. I also like it when a bit of country can sneak into the Top 10.

Wow to the success of Mumford & Sons. Bravo to them, and they never reached #1. Hmmm Lady GaGa hasn't sold much since her debut week and the 99c sale. And wowser to Adele's sales. She might be hard to beat for #1 album on the year in the US. I can't think of any big anticipated release to come.
I also read at Billboard.biz, that Eminem became the first artist to sell 1 million copies of digital downloads of 1 album for Recovery and apparently 21 will achieve that mark next week.

No surprise with Beyonce getting to #1 on the US charts. They adore her over there, plus they are suckers for a well oiled hype machine.
Really impressed that Jackie has managed a 3rd week in the Top 10. THought she would be a one week wonder in the Top 10.
I had no idea that David Cook was back, good to see he is able to still land a Top 10 album.
Confused with the Scotty McCreery album being listed as new, as I thought the album had already charted after the finale. From my understanding the only difference between that charting and this one is this week's involves a physical release. Unless of course, it is only a selection of soings performed and technically making it new. Anyone know?
On to the singles. Gee the US were slow with getting PRA to the top. I was surprised when it was charting in Australia and nowhere to be seen in the US. I give the Top 10 a 9/10, really not sure why the US insist on giving Lil Wayne hits. It's bad enough when he features but to give him solo hits is almost inexcusable.
OneRepubic stand out in that lot. If Australia really is a US wannabe country now then hopefully Good Life at least becomes a decent hit here (Top 30).

Very impressed with Katy becoming the 1st woman and only 2nd act to achieve 5 #1s off an album in the US. Now that is a record worth talking about. I will admit that she did technically 'cheat' with ET and Last Friday Night. It seems that the Missy Elliott remix helped push Katy to the pole position this week.
Even more impressive is she has held the spot for 18 weeks with the Teenage Dream singles, whereas Michael Jackson only managed 7 weeks.
And the thing I like is, personally, is she has done each #1 without much fanfare (except California Gurls). She has let the song sell itself.

Lady GaGa - Born This Way 7. Bruno Mars - Grenade 8. Rihanna - S&M 9. Katy Perry - Last Friday Night 10. Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks
That is true but I think it's entire run has been within the eligible period. I think it ended 3oth November. Pretty sure December is included in the year that follows. So that would mean a song like Fireworks and Grenade will have greater benefit since they were Top1 and 2 over December.
Oh I was never calling into question as to whether its run is entirely included, it was more to do with the fact that due to the early cut off, nothing that was a hit in the 2nd half of the year has a chance even if they've spent 27 weeks in the top 10, just because they can't accumulate points fast enough to get up there.
I do expect Firework & Grenade to be up there but I also suspect RITD & E.T. may have overtaken them.
Sometimes I think Billboard just pull positions out of their collective arses in compiling this list. DOn't forget you've also got to include points from radio as well. From my understanding the Billboard 100 positions thorugh the year mean jack, it's sales and then radio thrown in. It's the worse EOY list in the world. I don't understand if every other country can manage to do January - December why the US can't.
Oh really? I actually did think that it was just based on weekly points which I thought was quite amusing in its primitiveness. But then including airplay would just help recurrent songs moreso since they never go away.
G'day, here's this weeks top 10 US albums & singles, week ending 17/12/2011.

1. Rolling In The Deep 2. Party Rock Anthem 3. Firework 4. E.T. 5. Give Me Everything 6. Grenade 7. F**k You 8. Super Bass 9. Moves Like Jagger 10. Just Can't Get Enough
1. Rolling In The Deep 2. E.T. 3. Party Rock Anthem 4. Firework 5. F**k You 6. Grenade 7. Give Me Everything 8. Moves Like Jagger 9. Born This Way 10. On The Floor
Well I wasn't too far off. I know looking at the #1s of the year are a poor indication because it's due to consistency that wins the EOY but I really had no clue this year: My preds again:
1. Adele - Rolling In The Deep (Correct!) 2. LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem (Correct)) 3. Katy Perry - E.T. (#4, loss to Firework) 4. Pitbull feat. Neyo & Nayer - Give Me Everything (Top #5 at least) 5. Katy Perry - Firework (#3) 6. Lady GaGa - Born This Way (#18) 7. Bruno Mars - Grenade (#6) 8. Rihanna - S&M (#12) 9. Katy Perry - Last Friday Night (#14) 10. Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks (#13)
Well my top 5 was really good but I was surprised at the #5-#10 posistions. I thought MLJ would suffer by the cutoff but it had no problem like PRA. Really surprised at FU and Super Bass. Awesome to see Gaga and Rihanna fail horribly. Make this a lesson Gaga that hype and huge debut weeks won't do much.
Foster The People was just a vain hope that they would pull off a Hey Soul Sister/Need You Now/Use Somebody (although they were a lot more consistent). I know they spent 8 weeks at #3 but it turns out it wasn't enough.
Interesting chart Hijinx. Good Life has done really well surprisingly. lol at BTW being at #43. The problem is, it looks like that chart uses the binary point system while Billboard may have something more like triangular.
As for the US Charts in general, this was a very poor year with heaps of pop crap. Usually there are some brilliant pop songs that appear now and then but this year there were hardly any outside of Adele. Other great positions:
Good Life #25 Tonight Tonight #32 For The First Time #66
Kesha and Gaga really blew this year. Sure they had hits but it turned out they weren't that big. Rihanna may have had heaps of hits, but none of them were big enough for top 10. It's just unfortunate that Gaga and Rihanna's songs managed to add up so that they did well in the Artists chart behind Adele. Same goes for Britney.
I'll end my chattering here but of course I'm going to spend a much longer time looking at the smaller EOY charts (Adult Contemporary, Rock etc.)
I was really surprised by GaGa' s low entry! I would be interested in finding how this is worked out. GaGa dropped quick but I think the sales of the song would have still been pretty high! Glad Firework was right up there, but gutted that it was behind the bland as heck Party Rock Anthem.
I'm quite in favour of the Billboard Year being from December of one year to November to the next year. For once, many songs that receive the December boost continue to have lengthy runs into the next year, so
1) it'll benefit the songs with the Christmas boost so that they won't be stuck on 2 EOY charts and
2) The EOY chart of the first year won't be plagued with songs that have only being charted for less than 2 months. I remember the ARIA EOY chart last year had heaps of songs that had hardly charted, yet made the EOY because of the high sales from Christmas.

What a boring week (not that I should be surprised). It's the same as last week except that #4, #5 switch places and #8, #9 does the same thing. Nice to see Buble on top though.
I think technically it won't be until a fortnight's time that ARIA will acknowledge Gotye's achievment.
Based on the past info bulion has supplied here, the next up date (this week's ARIA chart) will show Gotye move from 6 to 2. I just checked the website I use for my reality chart and they have Gotye with that jump, but I imagine come Friday/Saturday they will have Gotye at #1. Meaning next week's ARIA chart will show him at #1.
