DISCUSSION FORUM

This is a thread for people to talk about Survivor.

I'll start by posting ranking the 22 finished seasons of Survivor from best to worst:

1.Borneo (simply magical, can't be beat)
2.Pearl Islands (almost 1st, only just misses out)
3.Palau
4.All-Stars
5.Thailand
6.Africa
7.Vanuatu
8.Heroes vs. Villians
9.Amazon
10.Redemption Island
11.Australian Outback
12.Marquesas
13.Fiji
14.China
15.Panama: Exile Island
16.Gabon
17.Samoa
18.Nicaragua
19.Guatemala
20.Tocantins
21.Cook Islands
22.Micronesia : Fans vs. Favourites (by very, very, far the worst)

I've also just been thinking about the many locations in which the game of Survivor has been played and thought I'd share a few places that I think would be cool locations to hold future seasons. There are two standouts and I may add to this list as I think of more:

Location   Reasoning
Egypt   They've already done an African desert season before when Survivor: Africa was held in Kenya but the concept of embracing Egyptian (modern but also Ancient Egypt) culture within a season would be brilliant. I loved the way Vanuatu culture was embraced throughout Survivor: Vanuatu and how cultures of other places have been embraced in their respective seasons. If they could do Thailand and China, a season in Egypt could be made to be simply awesome.
Greece   For similar reasons to Egypt, I think that Greece would be interesting because you could embrace not only the culture of modern Greece but Ancient Greece as well which, again would be awesome. Not only that, but since there has never been a season in Europe yet (at least not in the main United States version of Survivor) this would be a chance to have the continent represented at long last.

The Australian Outback season was that bad? heh
My reason for not including Survivor: Australian Outback? Really didn't care for it, although on paper alone it would sound like a very good season based on the location. Maybe if Colby had won instead of Tina I would consider it top 10. Tina may have been a good strategist, but I still feel that Colby had earned it. And despite some memorable moments, such as Alicia's argument over chicken or Michael hunting a pig then falling in the fire it has never been a season that has caught on for me. And 42 days? As far as I know, it is the only season to branch away from the traditional 39 days, which is a pet peeve for me about the season. I don't mind differences in the number of players too much but the days should remain the same in my opinion.

In saying that, I still consider it to be better than disasters such as Survivor Micronesia: Fans vs Favourites. Firstly, it left a stain on Johnny Fairplay's legacy. He has been viewed by many as the quitter of Survivor Micronesia: Fans vs Favourites instead of the great villian and all-round player that he was in Survivor: Pearl Islands (and this season was the reason he wasn't selected for Survivor: Heroes vs. Villians). It is no surprise that none of the "fans" have ever returned for a later season, the favourites had the game because the fans in general were just simply not smart enough to play the game, despite knowing how it works (AND I also read about some of the fans barely seeing Survivor and claiming to be big fans, even if that is not true and they had in general seen season after season, I still think it's at least the most overrated, if not the worst season of the twenty-two finished seasons). Also, one of the worst and most undeserving final fours ever.

And the fact that Paschall was eliminated in the controversial purple rock tie-breaker despite not recieving a vote cast against him is a substantial contributor to the factors that ruin what could have been a good season in Survivor: Marquesas for me, despite the introduction of Boston Rob (and Kathy I suppose).

I can't really think of a reason to compain about Survivor: Africa, but it's not exactly a standout great season for me, kind of just another season. It did feature Ethan, "Big Tom" and Lex, but we got to see these guys come back to not only represent the Africa season in Survivor: All Stars, but contribute to what was a great ego-driven season (although the inflated egos were mostly from Richard Hatch, Boston Rob and players that didn't play in Survivor: Africa.

And in a nutshell, Survivor seasons Guatemala, Panama: Exile Island, Cook Islands, China, Gabon, Tocantins, Samoa and Nicauragua just don't rank as well with me as other seasons do, although there are memorable moments to enjoy from each and every single one of those seasons. Survivor: South Pacific hasn't finished yet so it would be silly to comment on it.

I prefer the Amazing Race
Hello Big Back to Black! I support your move to create a thread.

THANKYOU! for creating the thread.

I LOVE SURVIVOR! just watched the latest season "South Pacific" last night.

Good to see Ozzy back in the game.

SHAME ON! Cockroach! to backstab his tribe.

Keith was voted out and is sent to Redemption Island.

Cochrane should go next, and then Keith will get his revenge by winning the next dual.

Keith is physical strong and should win the next dual I hope, then get back in the game.

OMG! God bless reality tv! it's so entertaining to watch!

YES love the Amazing Race, any season will do, as long as the show still airs in Australia, if it doesn't, I'll watch it online anyway.

BRING IT ON! for the return of Australia's Big Brother, hopefully Gretel returns, i like her classic line "It's Time to Go".

Loving the new reality show on GO! called "The Tool Academy", and "Paranormal Witness" is fantastic, it's the new "Unsolved Mysteries" show.
I take it your a Survivor Fan?

Only started watching it in 2009 but it's been one of my fav shows over the past 2 years.

"Survivor: South Pacific hasn't finished yet so it would be silly to comment on it."
Agree. Spoilers of the current season should be banned from this Thread until a week after it finishes so that way anyone who has recorded it will see it without any spoilers.

Or you could simply avoid Survivor-related threads until you've watched your recordings.
I agree. Anything which has aired is not a spoiler. If you're behind, avoid trying to discuss the show until you catch up. Now if I was to tell you the final three on the other hand, THAT would be a spoiler.

I was also disappointed Cochran betrayed his tribe. I liked his tribe better and wanted them in control of the game. And I just can't make sense of why he'd do it. The Upolu alliance seems tight, and he's seventh in line. If he'd stayed with his original tribe, he was sixth in line, however they weren't a tight group. He'd have had a much better chance of breaking into the sub-alliances at the end, also he would be viewed as one of the lesser threats. Now he has almost no chance of winning. Even if he were to make the jury, he'd get few votes.

Meanwhile, if Mally wasn't allowed to use multiple accounts, I really don't think anyone else should be either, even if it's not in use for evil and the username is rather amusing.

I haven't been spoiled yet but lets make sure no one does.
If you haven't watched your recordings, avoid the Thread.
Just don't post anything that has NOT aired in Australia at all!

Just putting it out there that I am a MASSIVE Survivor & Amazing Race fan

Glad to see there are a few fans here also
Ozzy is annoying. Thinking he owns the game & having a cry when the tribe votes for his girl. And Brandon (Russells Cousin). How embarassing crying all the time, walks like russell & always seems to cry
I didn't post any spoilers, those comments were theories.

I hope Cochrane gets voted out, the tribe should turn on him and he might be the next to go. On Redemption Island, Keith will win the dual, and Cochrane will go.

I want Keith back in the game, he didn't deserve to go. He has potential to win.

Ozzy took a gamble and it paid off, is he telepathic? how could he foresee himself winning the dual and getting back in the game, after 24 hours? wow!

Love Dawn! Ozzy is a legend, the best physical performer, and he could win for the first time! that's his goal.

On the preview shot for the next episode, Ozzy mentions that if he loses, he won't give up until her wins. Meaning that he might enrol for the next season.

LOVE REDEMPTION ISLAND! it's such a great new concept for the show.

I'm hoping for these contestants in the Top 5:

01.Ozzy (physically strong and enjoys playing the game)
02.Christian worshipper guy with the long hair
03.Dawn (I like the way she plays the game)
04.Sophie (the student)
05.Keith (back in the game, if he wins the dual)
Ozzy annoys me too. He's too arrogant now.

As far as his gamble goes, it was really an unnecessary one to take. If any of them had paid attention at any duel they witnessed featuring Christine, she'd made it clear she loathed her original tribe. She'd have teamed up with their side, they had no reason to send someone there to take her out to retain the numbers. Then they could have entered the merge at 6-6 with Christine in place of Cochran.

I hope Cochran is voted out soon, but I don't think it'll happen. He's no real threat to the alliance, so they'll get rid of the former Savaii tribe first. I also really want Brandon gone, he's probably beating Ozzy and Cochran in my most hated players list for this season. Hating Mikayla simply because he couldn't deal with the fact that he found her attractive? Constantly crying? Yeah, he bugs big time.

My ideal top five would be Albert, Sophie, Dawn, Whitney and Edna.
Well I caught up on all the episodes so far this season, so I can finally read this thread and comment. Firstly, I agree with bluezombie, Ozzy's tribe were dumb to sacrifice Ozzy because Christine would obviously have joined their tribe. Their whole plan was a massive WTF to me, but that tribe haven't seemed like the most intelligent group at the best of times, so I wasn't really surprised.

I'm glad they stuck with it though, as I'm a fan of Cochrane, but I do think he was a bit dumb to give the idol back to Ozzy. Personally I hope Coach wins this season, but he made a small mistake earlier on by aligning with Brandon and Edna instead of Albert and Sophie which judging by the preview may come back to haunt him.
Gosh yeah BlueZombie!

I also question why Brandon the Christian hasn't lost any weight, and how do the contestants get make-up applied during tribal councils, they always looks fresh faced?

Yes Brandon has got to go! I miss Mikayla! during the final after show Christine might win a prize for the most days spent on Redemption Island.

The FINAL 4 should be Ozzy vs Coach vs Keith vs Dawn.

Love Dawn, and the way she plays the game without insulting anyone and she has respect.

There are 11 contestants left, who will be voted out next and when will the 1st jury member get announced? is there a 9 member jury panel, because only 3 contestants make it to the Grand Final 39th day?

Can Keith survive on Redemption Island and get back later on in the game, I though that the island concept would finish once the merge happened, but people are still being sent there, two at a time.
Like ChartGuru, I am a fan of Coach, but I also wouldn't mind seeing Brandon win as a potential dark horse. For Cochran to win would be the greatest come-from-behind underdog victory in the history of Survivor. But I have never been a fan of Ozzy and certainly won't be now.

@Brandon Now that you mention it, you might be on to something interesting. Do you think that the "make-up" might have something to do with lighting (maybe the light from the flame torches make them look fresh faced?) or perhaps they use different/improved cameras or special effects during tribal councils? Or maybe the cameras just make them look like that at night, when they are not filming using the night-vision cameras? Would any of these make sense?

I think Ozzy is a smart arse & thinks he knows everything. Stuff him, the rest of the tribe should vote both Ozzy & Coach out. They've had several times to win & they still haven't.

Btw, I swear every episode at tribal council, Brandon always has to say something, that is just stupid & too long.
Every tribal council just makes Brandon look more and more crazy. He's been losing the plot since the start, but he just keeps getting more and more intolerable. He's trying to claim he plays under the guise of being a decent and honest person, but really he's the most dismissive and rude person there. He rarely lets anyone finish talking, yells at people and won't hear of anyone disagreeing with him. He thinks he knows how everything works, but he has absolutely no idea - in the game or in the real world stuff. He's a loser and a jerk. At this point, I'd rather see Coach win, and that says a lot since I generally hate Coach and I really want a newbie to win this time.
OMG! WTF! Ozzy and Jim, voted out in a double elimination.

One wrong move by Cockroach (Cochrane), has caused chaos for his own tribe. Now they are getting picked off one by one, it's terrible.

Ozzy voted out for a 2nd time, WTF! and sent to Redemption Island again, what a relief.

Time for a 2nd comeback for Ozzy, or will it be Keith or Jim?

REDEMPTION ISLAND showdown next week, who is going back in the game, willl it be one or two contestants maybe, to keep the numbers even.

Love ya Dawn, the strongest female competitor this year, I feel so relieved they didn't vote her out.

Dark horse winner could be the Medical student Sophie. She has stayed so under the radar.

Just because Cochrane hated Keith, doesn't mean that he should backstab his tribe. As Whitney mentioned, both she and Keith saved Cockroach many times! from elimination.

Wrong move by Ozzy to give Whitney his Idol last week.

The damage is done by Cockroach who shows no empathy towards his former tribe, and Coach's tribe is so intact, it's like his own cult. Who will jump ship?

GET COCKROACH OUT! he has destroyed his own tribe, he won't get far.

Ozzy is training on Redemption Island, for a possible 2nd comeback to the game.

It's very unpredictable this year, but the backstab by Cockroach proves that he was holding the cards.

I really want Ozzy and Keith back in the game, but if one person returns to the game it will be great.

Once again there will be 5 from Upolu and 5 from Savaii! then who ever wins the next challenge, hopefully Savaii wins and starts picking off Upolu members.

Very interesting, despite nearly a month out there, Brandon still hasn't lost weight.

The make-up theories are evident, a lot of blokes have bright shiny teeth, unusually white after so many days of not brushing teeth. How the fuck does Keith get his hair to stay so shiny, surely the ocean water would affect it and the harsh winds. They probably have make-up artists applying foundation and hair stylists.

But why the fuck is Brandon, not losing weight?

Some contestants look fresh, it's interesting. Ozzy still training and working out on Redemption to come back to the game. Ozzy still deserves to win, makes the game more interesting.

From being an innocent geek, now Cockroach has a new villian persona, don't like it.

It's getting boring with how Upollu are picking off Savaii.
Savaii is the better tribe, still impressed with Dawn and the way she plays the game.

Don't like the way Dawn was treated during the challenge, the Upolu tribe didn't even give her a little bit of food, it was very mean. She deserved a cupcake or two.

If Upolu were smart, they would vote out Coach, who clearly holds power over them, and they are loyal to him like his is Jesus.

Who will win the REDEMPTION challenge? and how many out of the three on the island, will go back in the game.
It would be more historic if 2 players go back in the game, but I doubt it?

Cochrane and Brandon should be voted out next, please! Edna is also back under the radar with Sophie.

The preferred Final 5:

Dawn
Sophie
Ozzy
Keith
Coach
BREAKING NEWS!

Whitney cheats on her partner, in a secret undercover affair with current Redemption Island resident Keith!

Survivor South Pacific Spoiler: Scandal, Redemption, Tribal Council, Who Goes?
Big Sister Is Watching Survivor South Pacific
November 15, 2011

All talk, no walk. Before we get into this weeks Survivor South Pacific spoiler let's deal with a little Survivor scandal.

It seems country singer Whitney Duncan told everyone she was single. She also made a point of listing one of her qualities as being honest.

Turns out that neither was true.

She was secretly married to Donny Fallgatter on August 1, 2010. Her soon to be ex is another country singer.

And he's soon to be the ex because Whitney and fellow Survivor Keith Tollefson started an affair while on the island.

We have not seen anything in the way of a connection on the show. Maybe it didn't start until they were both in loser lodge.

Yeah, they are both headed in that direction.

Whitney has not addressed the affair or the breakup with her husband other than to post on Twitter last Friday “My man met me at the door w flowers today…lucky girl.” She's talking about Keith.

Fallgatter told RumorFix “She had no remorse, she said ‘I met a guy on Survivor and I don’t know what else to tell you.’” He also said, “At first I was mad and hated her but now I can say that everything happens for a reason and I’m in a better place now.”

All things considered he probably is better off.

Let's not forget that Whitney was very upset at Cochran's betrayal. A pot and kettle moment if there ever was one.

Okay, here's what CBS says about his weeks episode....

Paranoia among tribe-mates threatens to break a once-impenetrable alliance, and castaways are shocked at Tribal Council with the announcement of another double elimination.

Meanwhile, on Redemption Island, a castaway makes a bold threat to his former tribe-mates during the duel challenge, and two castaways are sent home.

***********************************************

DOUBLE ELIMINATION! and now it's revealed ONLY one member will qualify from next weeks Redemption challenge!!

Jim, Keith, or Ozzy! WHO WILL RETURN to the game??

In reference to Brandon's breaking news. It's one thing when someone breaks up with someone and then moments later has already found another partner. It's another thing when someone is currently still in a relationship and then decides to start a new relationship before announcing a break up of the old one. I hope Whitney loses the game because I officially don't like her now.
Last edited:
Well, that's the husband's side of the story. I'd be interested to see what Whitney has to say before judging her. She surely doesn't have long left in the game anyway.

As for next week's three-way duel, I doubt the winner will be returning to the game, at least anytime soon. They'll have to head back to Redemption Island to wait for their next challenger. it'll probably be like last season, where they put someone back in at the final five or so.
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I had just written a whole heap responding to everyones comments and when I clicked submit I got the website not respondng page.

In a nutshell.

top 10 seasons for me:
S1 Borneo (Nothing beats the original).
S2 Australia (great cast).
S4 Marquesas (great cast, not so worthy winner).
S6 Amazon (very under-rated season).
S7 Pearl Islands (great season and some great players).
S8 All Stars (Would rank as #10. FULL CAST of returning players are fun to watch)
S12 Exile Island (some memorable players, not so worthy winner).
S16 Fans Vs Favorites (very fun to watch).
S19 Samoa (Russell made this enjoyable. Even better watching him get beat).
S20 Heroes Vs Villians. (Some great game play).

Those seasons that didn't do it for me include:
S5 Thailand (boring cast)
S18 Tocantcins (Too much stupid game play. Not sure I understand why JT was so well liked, I found him annoying).
S21 Nicuragura (dull cast, very few memorable players and the whole top 5 sucked in my opinion).
S22 Redemption Island (too predictable, appeared that this was set up for Rob to win).
S23 South Pacific (very similar to last season and looks set up for Coach to win).

I have found some players to be extremly over-rated over the years yet they grace our screens for up to 3 seasons:
Rupert (such a sore loser yet America loves him).
James (has no idea, although I did agree with his arguments on S20 about Steph being the bad apple, not sure I agreed with his aggressive approach, guess it was fun to watch someone not treat her like a princess for once).
Amanda (I didn't mind her in China and she made one move that was a killer move in S16 but thereafter, I found her very annoying).
Stephanie (very over-rated).
JT (His strategy sucks, Stephen and Taj were the masterminds in S18 not him. Parvati said it best, how did he win?).
Coach (he has no strategy and his bullshit stories are annoying. He has been ok this season but I do hope he gets blindsided. He also lies all the time and carries on all the time about honour).
Ozzy (I was bummed he lost S13 but now all I can say is wow is he arrogant. After watching his antics in various things, all I can say is what a dropkick!).

As for this current season, it would have been great if the tribes were shuffled rather than merged. Too many underserving people will make it to the final 5 now. I hope Cochran gets blindsided real soon. He's pathetic and ranks as one of the dumbest players ever.

As for Survivor locations. I would like to see Survivor go to:

Survivor Jordan or Arabia (this was meant to be the location for S4 however was changed at the last minute due to September 11 attacks).

Survivor Kakadu (it's beautiful and has some of the most dangerous wild life. If Brazil can host 2 different seasons based on different regions than Australia can too. Survivor isn't just based on different countries).

Survivor New Zealand (I am surprised we haven't had this one yet! Maybe the weather isn't warm enough for us to see half naked bodies! Has great scenery and the Mauri culture, I can even picture the Hukka (spelling?) being one of the challenges).

Hope this makes sense, I lost my original posting so this was rushed.
@k8 now that you mention it they haven't done new Zealand yet. However, they have done Cook Islands which is similar. But it could be possible and certainly not too cold if they used one of the New Zealand archipelagos. New Zealand actually owns a lot of small island archipelagos... And kind of agree about Rupert he was cool in s7 and s8 but s20 he just wasn't the same Rupert anymore. It is also quite annoying that Stephen didn't even get 1 vote at the final tribal council of Tocantins.

My preferred top 5 is somewhat different to yours (in no particular order):
Rick
Brandon
Cochran
Coach
Dawn or Jim (if he gets backfrom Redemption Island)

Of the three on Redemption Island, I reckon that Jim could probably beat both of them, but it's genuinely anybody's game.
My ideal Top 5 would have players who seem the most interesting and not those who go under the radar and are quite dull to watch. Would look similar to KingBandicoots. In no order.
Brandon
Cochran
Coach
Ozzy (Assuming he wins Redemption Island again)
Dawn (I guess)
I hope Coach and Ozzy don't win though as they have played the game before. Would like to see Brandon, Cochran and Coach in the Top 3 and have either of the 1st 2 names in this sentence cause a shock win.
At some point I intend to do a list of my top Survivor challenges ever. To avoid certain complications, I'll keep it limited to pre-All Stars seasons (1-7) and to tribal challenges only. I think it goes unthanked just how much time and effort goes into making the great challenges that Survivor has so I think I should do a list to give the challenge-aspect of Survivor it's due justice. I plan to post it soon. Certain challenges are excluded for not holding to the usual race or scoring format of most challenges (such as the S.O.S competitons) or for not being the best of a group of similar challenges across the seasons (such as the eating/drinking challenges). I have yet to go through Thailand and Amazon again.

Just finished going through the Borneo, Australian Outback Africa, Marquesas and Pearl Islands seasons and have added twenty to the shortlist:

Survivor Borneo - Episode 1 Reward/Immunity Challenge: The tribes swam to a raft where they had to pass and light their bamboo torch. Once they got to the beach they had to lift up their raft and run to the big statue. On the way, there were torches that needed to be lit. Once all of the torches are lit, teams had to light up a fire bowl. First tribe to light up the bowl wins immunity.
Survivor Australian Outback - Episode 5 Immunity Challenge: Each maze has 5 totem poles with a medallion attached to each. As a unit, they must maneuver through the maze and collect the medallions in order, then find their way to the finish line.
Survivor Africa - Episode 1 Reward/Immunity Challenge: Each tribe has a cart, the goal is to light three fire towers on the way to the finish line of a course.
Survivor Africa - Episode 2 Reward Challenge: Each tribe has five logs, the goal is to get the logs past a series of obstacles on a path to their tower to build a staircase.
Survivor Africa - Episode 3 Reward Challenge: Each tribe has one large boulder, navigate the boulder along the marked course, to the finish line.
Survivor Africa - Episode 4 Reward Challenge: One at a time, tribe members are going to make their way up the ramp, across the netting and up the rope web, grab one basket, bring it back and put it in the basket.
Survivor Africa - Episode 4 Immunity Challenge: Each tribe must relocate their camps complete with a hut, an animal pen, a flagpole and various camp supplies.
Survivor Africa - Episode 5 Reward Challenge: Each tribe must herd 20 goats into their pen.
Survivor Africa - Episode 6 Immunity Challenge: Each tribe must ignite five targets from varying distances in flames using bows and lighted arrows.
Survivor Marquesas -Episode 2 Reward Challenge: Each tribe has a boat anchored at the bottom of the ocean floor with about 250 rocks inside. They must dive down and remove as many rocks as possible until the boat floats to the surface. Then, they must bail enough water as they determine necessary and paddle to the beach.
Survivor Marquesas - Episode 5 Reward Challenge: Fourteen pieces belonging to four tikis are scattered on a course. One member will guide three blindfolded members to the fourteen pieces. Once all pieces are back, the four tikis must be reconstructed.
Survivor Amazon - Episode 4 Reward Challenge: Each tribe had four ropes attached to a 30-foot tower. Each rope is attached to a fire-making station. The tribes must gather enough firewood in order to build a fire high enough to burn through all four ropes. Each time a rope is burned, a portion of a banner at the top of the tower is released. First tribe to burn through all four ropes and release their banner wins reward.
Survivor Amazon - Episode 6 Reward Challenge: The castaways must square off against someone on the opposing tribe by balancing on a revolving log over a mud pit. The last castaway left standing on the log earns a point for their tribe. First tribe to score five points wins reward.
Survivor Pearl Islands - Episode 1 Immunity Challenge: Each tribe must transport a cannon through the jungle along a course that runs from one side of the island to the other. Along the course, the castaways must avoid several obstacles. The first tribe to bring their cannon to the finish line wins immunity.
Survivor Pearl Islands - Episode 2 Reward Challenge: Each tribe has a designated treasure chest underwater. Each player must dive into the ocean to retrieve a pre-praced item and put it into their tribe's treasure chest. Once all the items are in the chest, the contestants, as a tribe, must grab the chest and swim it to the shore. First tribe to bring their chest to the shore wins reward.
Survivor Pearl Islands - Episode 3 Reward Challenge: Each tribe was given two boats and a fisherman's grappling hook. They must try to sink both of the opposite tribe's boats. The hooks could be used to remove plugs that covered holes along the sides of each boat. The last tribe still floating wins reward.
Survivor Pearl Islands - Episode 4 Reward Challenge: Each tribe must retrieve sixteen puzzle pieces; eight buried in the sand and eight hidden out at sea. The tribes must collect all sixteen pieces in order to solve a puzzle. First tribe to solve their giant puzzle wins reward.
Survivor Pearl Islands - Episode 5 Reward Challenge: Each tribe must retrieve rungs for a ladder from the water. In addition, they must retrieve a golden idol hidden in an old Spanish well in the jungle. First tribe to assemble their ladder and place the golden idol at the top of their platform wins reward.
Survivor Pearl Islands - Episode 5 Immunity Challenge: Each castaway must spin a wheel, which will determine which two ingredients would be blended together for them to drink. The ingredients were red shellfish, sardines, razor clams, bleeding clams, sea water, squid, mango, rock oysters, conch, octopus, coconut juice, and an ingredient of Jeff's choice. The first person unable to keep their concoction down will lose immunity for their whole tribe.
Survivor Pearl Islands - Episode 6 Reward Challenge: Each tribe must fire a cannon and try to hit designated targets. First tribe to hit all of their designated targets wins reward.
Survivor Pearl Islands - Episode 6 Immunity Challenge: Tribe members would hold a pole on their shoulders behind their neck. Periodically, weight would be added to the poles. The castaways would decide which poles the weight would added on for the opposing tribe. Last tribe standing wins immunity.
Survivor Pearl Islands - Episode 7 Immunity Challenge: Each castaway except for one designated "rescuer" from each tribe will be prisoners in a set of cages. The rescuer must free all of their tribemates. First tribe to free all of their prisoners and cross the finish line with their flag wins.

SURVIVOR: THAILAND

Episode 1 Immunity Challenge: The tribes must race around a small island by paddling a boat. As they go around the island, they must solve puzzles along the way. One castaway will be stationed at each puzzle. First tribe to assemble their puzzles and retrieve their tribe's flag wins immunity.

Episode 2 Reward Challenge: The tribes must choose one castaway to act as a guide, while the others will be blindfolded. The blindfolded tribe member must carry their guide in a palanquin, while the guide helps them navigate through a course in order to retrieve tribe-colored bags. First tribe to complete the course and collect all of their bags wins reward.

Episode 2 Immunity Challenge: Each tribe will be given a large, floating lotus flower puzzle that's missing six pieces. The six missing pieces will be tethered to the puzzle, each floating at an equal distance from it. First tribe to untether all of their puzzle pieces and assemble their puzzle wins immunity.

Episode 3 Reward Challenge: The tribes must race across a bamboo course over the water. In the middle of the course was a "contact zone" where the castaways were able to knock other castaways off the course. At the end of the course were two tribe-colored boats filled with baskets. The tribe members must steal baskets from the opposing tribe's boat. First tribe to steal ten baskets wins reward.

Episode 3 Immunity Challenge: The tribes were given three stations and one temple made up of six large puzzle pieces. The tribes must transfer the six pieces from their first station to their third. Once the tribes have all their pieces at the third station, they must reassemble the temple so it is identical to the original. First tribe to assemble their temple wins immunity.

Episode 6 Immunity Challenge: There will be 21 flags placed in a circle. Taking turns, the tribes must gather one to three flags at a time. The tribe that takes the final flag wins immunity.

My preferred top 3 is the same as Lifter's: Coach, Cochran and Brandon.

I would also love to see a season on Survivor that just features players who care about strategy and winning the game ("villains" essentially), rather than all this emotional crap people go on about. I mean, it's good, but just for one season I'd like to see a final three made up of the three most overtly strategic players.
Interesting list idea, it's been so long since I've seen some of these seasons, so I'd find it hard to make one of my own, but it does seem like Pearl Islands dominates too much. I'd leave Sandra, Burton, Jon (UGH!) and Trish on there and get rid of the rest. I don't remember Clay doing anything other than follow Brian in Thailand, and I don't remember Caryn doing anything at all in Palau. Other than that, I agree with all the inclusions, as long as Jenna Lewis is only included for her All Stars efforts, since she didn't do squat in Borneo.

One could also argue that only Hatch, Brian, Boston Rob, Tom, Chris, Todd and Sandra should be here since they're the only ones to win from that list, and not winning suggests a flawed strategy, however I don't subscribe to that thinking because that suggests people like Fabio, Vecepia and JT are master strategists.
I'd include Tina from Australia Outback in that list. Only because I was so blindsided with her alliance. I thought she was just your typical boring mum, until she won and the secret alliance came out where she was top dog in it. I honestly thought she was riding the coat tails of the alliance.
@bluezombie Yeah there are a lot of Pearl Islands people on that list, but I really couldn't help it. It was by far the most cut-throat strategic season in Survivor history and apart from Ryan. S and Osten more or less everybody was seen to be doing some sort of strategizing at some point (heck, even Nicole who was the first person voted out had time to stir the pot and if Lill didn't stuff her up, she could've gone far with her strategy) and I think any of the six you would get rid could've potentially dominated that season if it weren't for the casting of Johnny Fairplay (rivals Russell for the most villianous and scheming player of all time), Sandra Diaz-Twine (the only two-time winner ever) and Burton (who I think rivals Trish as the most underrated player ever). And don't forget that the Outcast Twist shook things up quite a bit as well. In other words, it was potential master strategists outdone by a few proven elite players. They really cast a great group in Pearl Islands. As for Clay, he strategically took interest in all the Sook Jai members post-merge on a personal level because he knew he would win their votes (something Brian didn't bother to do), and if it weren't for Ted believing that Clay was racist, Clay might have won that season. Caryn could read people like open books, and set herself up in a position where she knew exactly what everyone was doing and I believe if it weren't for Tom being cast, she may have won that season. And yes, I was thinking mostly about Jenna Lewis in All-stars, she was very clever and if her feet hadn't lost contact with the pole in the final immunity challenge she probably would've won because she would've taken a very controversial Boston Rob to the final two.

@ BillyBrett I thought about Tina because I've been told by many she was a great strategist but I haven't seen much of the second half of that season so it's hard for me to tell.

I've now updated the list with my ideal cast of 16 Castaways of a Survivor: Strategists season. It would feature a twist at the beginning similar to Survivor: Palau where the first person to shore to claim an individual immunity necklace instantly gains immunity, then divides the remaining fifteen contestants into three tribes of five, with at least two people of each gender per tribe. All three tribes live on the same beach and the person with the immunity necklace is on no tribe and sits out the first immunity challenge but after the first tribal council, joins the tribe that loses a member at the first tribal council.

The eight men for the season would be (I excluded Boston Rob because he claimed after Survivor: Redemption Island that he would never play Survivor again, Richard Hatch because he is under house arrest in the United States for tax evasion penalties, and Johnny Fairplay because Jeff Probst doesn't want him back for another season.):

   Castaway   Debut Season
   Lex   Africa
   Brian   Thailand  Former Winner
   Clay   Thailand
   Rob Cestreneno   Amazon
   Burton   Pearl Islands
   Tom   Palau  Former Winner
  Todd   China   Former Winner
   Russell   Samoa

**EDIT NOTE: I somehow missed Chris from Vanuatu but he should be there possibly over one of the Thailand men but any of those 8 or Chris would be great.

The eight women for the season would be (ended up deciding to exclude Lill the Scoutmaster because I don't think she'd want to participate again and Darrah because I don't she was as good as a strategist as the other Pearl Islands women I've noted but would still be a great backup if one of the 8 I mentioned turned the offer down):

  Castaway   Debut Season
   Jenna Lewis   Borneo
Sandra Diaz-Twine   Pearl Islands   Former Winner
   Christia   Pearl Islands
   Tijunana   Pearl Islands
   Trish   Pearl Islands
   Eliza   Vanuatu
   Caryn   Palau
   Sugar   Gabon

I agree with most selections here. I would replace Sandra with Parvati though. Sandra has already won twice and is unquestionably the greatest strategic player ever in a normal game of survivor. But she does this by convincing people she's not strategic, whereas I'd prefer overtly strategic players and it's likely her perfect record would be broken if she ever played again. I think Parvati fits the bill and also has survived longer than any other 3-season player.

I'd love to see Rob and Hatch play again in this series, but I agree it's unlikely. Rob particularly since I feel he had it a bit easy in the season he won. I haven't seen Survivor Africa but Lex seemed fairly strategic in All-Stars.

The idea for 3 tribes is also great. After a few challenges they should merge down to 2 to shake things up a bit, then eventually to 1 as per usual. Can't wait for this to happen
"Johnny Fairplay because Jeff Probst doesn't want him back for another season.):"

That explains why he didn't appear in Heroes vs Villians.
I was hoping he would be in it but a shame he wasn't.
Well, Probst actually never even wanted him back after his first appearance, but then he was allowed on Fans vs. Favorites anyway. Then he quit in the very first episode. Why would they have him back again? Nobody who quits for anything other than a medical issue should be allowed back. I certainly hope to never see him again, I'm happy he was in Pearl Islands to stop the awful Rupert winning, but I never wanted him to win that and I never wanted to see him again afterwards.
Guess what, the Channel Nine preview of Tuesday's episode shows a spoiler.

Ozzy and Coach making a promise to make it to the final two, little does Ozzy know is that Coach voted against him to be voted out for the 2nd time weeks ago.

Does that mean Ozzy returns to the game, and 7 become Top 8?

Ozzy is likely to beat Dawn and Whitney is the challenge, and send them home packing to Ponderosa Island.

Ponderosa episodes are now available to watch on Youtube.

Good to see Jim and Keith become the first two jury members, and now followed by Dawn and Whitney. Whitney and Keith will reunite on Ponderosa, and sparks will fly.

Cochran has got to go!

Ozzy might return to the game in the Top 5, for putting so much effort and showing interest and enthusiasm in the game, he deserves to win for the first time.

I'm hoping for a Ozzy, Coach and Sophie to be in the Top 3.
This week's episode, screening here tomorrow night is the traditional clip show. Nobody will be voted out, it's just a recap of the season so far. So this "deal" between Ozzy and Coach would have already happened if it ever existed, and has been broken.
I think they'll stick to tradition and have Ozzy (or whoever) return when there are 5 left (to make 6).

I think Cochran, Edna and Rick have no chance of winning the money. If one of the old Savaii members makes it to the final 3 they'll obviously win, but if not then I think it's between Coach and Sophie. Personally I'm still hoping for a Coach/Brandon/Cochran top 3 though, with Coach getting the win.
All-stars had a pretty cool re-cap episode where they had additional footage not shown in the first episode where the chapera tribe pretended to be the saboga tribe at tribal council.
Umm Brandon had another breakdown at tribal on last night's episode I swear there hasn't been one episode this season where Brandon hasn't had a rant at tribal. He looks like a pussy compared to uncle Russel.

Meanwhile, Ozzy is so stuck up thinking he can beat everyone. I'm hoping someone as useless as Cochran could get him voted out at the challenge haha.
Poor Cochran. He was in a lose lose situation. Stay with his old tribe and get voted off early or be the 1st voted off his new tribe. I too hope that he beats Ozzy at the challenge, his best hope would be a mental/puzzle challenge.
Poor Cochran for being so stupid you mean. For a start, had he stuck with his original tribe, and they'd got the upper hand, he'd have been top six at least, as opposed to voted out seventh. That's already an improvement. And I don't see how he'd have been voted out first. Jim, Ozzy and Keith would all be wanting to target each other as immunity threats. Cochran wouldn't have been the first target I don't think. And even if he was, the Savaii tribe was not at all unified, he could easily have exploited a number of cracks to get a sub alliance going. Ozzy would have been an easy person to target and get others to go along with.

And then, he was obviously in seventh position after he switched. And he didn't do a thing about it. He didn't ask for anything before he switched, when he actually had some power. He didn't ask for a top four alliance with anyone. He just switched for nothing. And then he didn't try to manouevre anything at all, until there were only seven left and he was about to go. Waaay too late. He claims to be a genius at the game, or a big fan or whatever, but he's played just about the worst of everyone this season. It's his own fault he ended up where he is, and I hate Ozzy, but I hope Ozzy smashes him at the duel. Cochran is the worst. Seriously, you have useless people like Edna and Rick who don't know the first thing about trying to win, but Cochran is still a worse player.
Well, I was sad to see Cochran go, but I agree with BZ that leaving it until there are just 7 people left to improve his position was incredibly short-sighted (just plain stupid, really).

I do have to say though that if I got on Survivor, there is no way I would risk being voted out by drawing stones and I would have switched as Cochran did. I just would have done it a bit differently after that, but I'm sure it's more difficult than it looks.
Oh, I'm not pretending for a second that I'd find this game easy to win or anything. But I think I'd have taken my chances with the rocks. Upolu were a much tighter tribe than Savaii, switching to them means it's going to be difficult to break their alliance. Sticking with Savaii gave better opportunities. Perhaps Cochran's best bet was to ask for the immunity idol they gave to Whitney. That way there was no way he could get eliminated from the rock drawing. And then if Savaii come out on top, he's in the final six with a good chance to progress.
So Ozzy being up himself about no-one beating him at Redemption Island almost failed. Cochran was just that far off getting the ball in the whole, damn. Hopefully Edna can beat him. He is one of the most stuck-up, know-it-all survivor contestants I've seen.

As for Brandon. Well his Father coming over to Coach & telling him to make sure Brandon goes to the end. What the hell? To make matters worse, there was a later shot between that conversation where Brandon was standing with his dad while he was talking to Coach, so it was a bully tactic alright.

As for Brandon himself? As Coach puts it, he is a "ticking timebomb" essentially. Calling out that slur at the immunity challenge to Edna was not necessary & he breaks down so easily. It's sad, you'd think being related to Russel, that he would be strong, un affected by emotions, but really it;s an embarassment to the Hanz family.
So the finale was tonight.

Good to see Sophie won, sucked in to Coach. All that Religion B/S is really annoying. I don't think anyone really cares about it, & he used every excuse to use religion.

Poor Brandon though, majority of his family were dissapointed in him. Only Russel turned up to the finale, where he said he was "dissapointed & did everything wrong. I set the game right!".

And we have Ozzy. Most stuck-up person on the season. If he was all talk about being ready to win the immunity challenge, he clearly wasn't. He got beaten by Sophie so sucked in for him. I don't like his personality or attitude towards the game & other members.

My favourites were Dawn, & Cochran mainly.

My only negatives about Survivor after 23 season it's starting to get old now. They are struggling to find new ideas & the only new thing in S24 is "One Tribe" where both tribes will live together from day 1. Sorry but S25 should be the last one, & go out with a bang. Another Survivor reunion would be nice.
I love this show, and have been thinking that it would be good to have a series, where all the contestants are people who were voted out first in a previous series.

I am sure their a re some cool people that we never got to know.
I was very pleased with the result. Sophie was my favourite and definitely deserved the win. Hopefully she returns in a future season.

I also hope stealing is allowed in "One World" - it will be good to see some strategic night raids add an extra dimension in the early tribe rounds.

This past season of Survivor wasn't really a classic but was still enjoyable. I can't wait for the next one!
Glad Sophie beat COach.

I would love to see another All STar season as they are usually the best.

They just need to stop putting contestants like Rupert and James on all the time as they are boring players.

Hopefully there is no more players returning for redemption as the past 2 seasons highly focused on 4 players only (even when one was voted out and again this past season when he wasnt even a player). No other contestant has a chance of winning fan favorite.
Very dissapointed that Ozzy didn't make it to the Final 3.

He deserved to win, and he did get another prize voted by the audience, it was a car! so yes! that's good.

Albert somehow made it to the Final 3, and got no votes from the jury. He didn't really do much.
Disapointed with the winner tbh. Found her irritating at times, especially when she cryed at a Tribal Council.

Was also disapointed that Ozzy missed the Top 3 and also how Brandons family were disapointed with his game.

Didn't expect any new ideas for the next season this soon.
It would be good to go out with a bang with S25 with another all stars/HvsV.
My favs were Brandon, Cochrane, Coach, Ozzy, Dawn and Albert.

I'm glad Sophie won. It was a suprise! I felt Coach had guided them all throughout the game, the other players depended on this guidence to move forward.
Ozzy didn't deserve to win or even be in the merge.
The highlights were Brandon giving the immunity to Albert then being voted off.
Cochrane switching sides after his previous team were mean.
Ozzy electing to go redemption island.
Albert destroying any chance of winning the money.
Christine winning the challenges.
Sophie saving herself in tribal council through emotion after Ozzy picked on her then winning immunity to vote his arse off.
Also have to mention that Rick is a douche! Getting mad at Coach for voting him off...he didn't do anything the whole game but ride of the coat tails of the 5 alliance. Then when he had the chance to strategise he didn't.
My favourites; Cochrane, Coach, Edna, Dawn, Sophie, Christine.

I was glad Sophie won. Ozzy is an arrogant douche who excels at only one portion of the game. His strategy is always hopeless, he's just good in challenges.

I always enjoy the all-stars seasons, but it's becoming too common that old players are in seasons. I'd like to have at least three consecutive seasons with ONLY new players before doing a full all-star season. The all-stars started off as new players once upon a time, so having all new players isn't a bad thing if you cast well. And no more of this redemption crap where it's two old players and the rest are new. These seasons are skewed towards the returnees, the casting is mostly of sheep who blindly follow the oldsters, they dominate the screentime because people already know them, and the only way for a newbie to get screentime is to be completely bonkers like Phillip or Brandon, or make a really dumb move like Cochran.

At least Sophie was one of the few new players who didn't blindly follow Coach and had an actual strategy of her own. She and Albert would really have been the only decent winners from the final eight in my opinion. Coach's strategy was terrible, Ozzy had none beyond winning challenges, Cochran made a ridiculously bad move because he's a whiny sook, and Edna, Rick and Brandon were blind followers who never set up an endgame until it was way too late.
Blue zombie, what u say is spot on!

Sophie deserved the win IMO! She wasn't all that bad, I actually was at the finale in Los Angeles and her strategy was highlighted and wasn't shown to us because ozzy, coach, cochrane and Brandon took up too much air time.

As much as I love the all stars seasons, I am afraid that players like Cochran are pathetic and what player would ever trust him and want to make an alliance with him.

Too many douche bags will be asked to return. No doubt we will see russel, coach, ozzy and probably Boston rob back for another time. Maybe not Boston rob as he has won now so has no desire to play again!

They will need to do a winners special or the first boot from each season (but these are usually older, unathletic people who probably wouldn't be any good at entertaining but then again there is Wendy Jo.)

Survivor The Ultimate - where past winners battle it out to see who is the best! This should be season 25. Let's see rich, Ethan, Brian, Chris, Tom, aras, yul, earl, Todd, bob, JT, Fabio, Boston Rob (13 guys to choose from). Tina, vecepia, Jenna, Sandra, amber, Danni, Parvati, Natalie and Sophie (9 ladies to chose from). 16 players, 8 of each gender. Could be a beaut season IMO. Not sure many of them especially the ladies have any desire to return and play such a draining game again.
Disgraceful winner, absolutely awful. Two winners I've disliked in a row and counting...
Only two? They were both better winners than Jud/Fabio who only won because the majority alliance deemed him the lesser threat due to his lack of intelligence and then he won some immunity challenges and got to the jury having not pissed anyone off because he never employed any strategy. Boston Rob and Sophie were MUCH better winners!

I actually don't like a lot of the winners, but I think Sophie and Boston Rob are good ones.
I liked both Season 21 and 22's winners but this seasons was the most disapointing winner for me since Season 19. Was quite meh on Season 20's winner but it didn't really bother me much.
Have anyone idea about the Survivor of India!
That's also awesome.......

Overall, I was disappointed with One World. Hopefully Philippines proves to be better.

Agreed. I liked the return of the reward challenges, but overall it was pretty disappointing.
Hi my rankings of the survivor seasons. My top 5 is very similar to BBWS's but slightly different bottom 5, I have Marquesas a lot lower than #12 and have season 23 and 24 there. Survivor will be going downhill, if they can't get it right with Philippines.

1. Borneo (agreed here, the original was the best)
2. Pearl Islands (Pirate-themed season)
3. Palau (War-themed season)
4. Thailand ("Mr. Freeze" a.k.a Brian Hiedik is in the house
5= Africa (Location, Big Tom, Lex, Ethan, great challenges)
5= All-Stars (could've been in the top 3, but ruined by Amber winning instead of Boston Rob, and Sue's incident)

Bottom 5:

20. Marquesas (poor Paschall, eliminated because of a stupid mistake by the host)
21. Cook Islands (come on now dividing the tribes racially? cool to see Parvati naked in a hot tub though 8) )
22. South Pacific (horrible, better than Micronesia, but just barely)
23. Micronesia: Fans vs Favourites (yeah it was bad, but it wasn't the worst, and Parvati naked again lol)
24. One World (doesn't deserve the dignity of an explanation)

Like seriously, WOW

Philippines has been amazing so far!

Matsing, although not the most successful tribe was very likable overall and made for some classic Survivor moments. Change one thing about the tribe? COOKIES!
lol that was classic!

As far as Tandang goes, I hate Lisa but I'm glad Michael Skupin gets another chance and Abi Maria is at least interesting so Tandang casting was good too.

Kalabaw...not a Katie fan but Jeff Kent and Penner are awesome. Can't wait to see how this plays out.
The challenges have been up to my personal standard too. The paddle challenge with the balancing balls is a memorable standout. Tribal council looks neat the way it has been set up. Despite the bad weather, I think that Philippines is a great location for a Survivor season.
This has definitely been a standout season, one of the best in a long time. Abi is crazy. Anyway, I won't say too much since Australian TV is about 6 weeks behind.
By now I would hope that it's safe to say everyone is aware of what has happened on Survivor: Philippines, great season, brilliant it was. The casting for Survivor: Caramoan will probably be announced around the middle of this month.
MY SEASON RANKINGS:

I really hated the seasons ranked 21 - 25. Theres been many memorable seasons for me. I love Sandra winning twice, hate Russel hantz althouth her always made it entertaining. This ismy favourite tv show for years,I have all seasons on DVD that are avaliable and look forward to AMAZON releasing the next ones.

Phillipines had some good moments, and im glad with the final result (only person in top 4 i liked). Look forward to seeing who returns next season. I hope they dont bring back people who have already played 3 or more times (Ozzy, Boston Rob, Russell, Rupert,Parvati). From Phillipines id love to see RC, Katie, Carter again. id like to see Alicia, Jay, Leif + Christina from One World.. Also a very underrated player was Erin from Tocantins. the only player i liked!!! She should come back. So many playersshould return!!
FOR ANYONE INTERESTED, THE RETURNING CAST HAS BEEN LEAKED AND I DON'T REALLY CONSIDER IT A SPOILER SO HERE IT IS...

•Erik Reichenbach, Survivor Micronesia: Fans vs. Favorites
•Corinne Kaplan, Survivor Gabon
•Brenda Lowe, Survivor Nicaragua
•Andrea Boehlke, Survivor Redemption Island
•Francesca Hogi, Survivor Redemption Island
•Phillip Sheppard, Survivor Redemption Island
•John Cochran, Survivor South Pacific
•Brandon Hantz, Survivor South Pacific
•Dawn Meehan, Survivor South Pacific
•Malcolm Freberg, Survivor Philippines
Interesting to create a tribe with so many potential voting blocks built into it.
So current survivor is kinda boring me :/ Hoping Malcolm or Denise win it but the big question is, does Carter look like a chick or what?
All I have to say is, well done Francesca. Nobody has ever reached the impressiveness that you did in the premiere.
Indeed. It looks like this season could be a good one.
I hope Corinne can go all the way. did anyone notice the ridiculousness of the "cool kids" on the fans tribe. "noone else is sitting at our table", do they not realise they need 6 votes for majority the idiots. True fans eh?
