Grammy Predictions for 2012: Tony Bennett Could Challenge Adele

Scott Shetler ,Grammy Awards Examiner

Look out, Adele: You have some new competition for the 2012 Grammy Awards, in the form of Tony Bennett.

Yes, while Adele's album '21' and single 'Rolling in the Deep' are still contenders to walk away with the major awards at the 2012 Grammy Awards, they're no longer the overwhelming favorites, because the legendary 85-year-old appears to have a great chance to dethrone her.

Our up-to-date prediction is based on Bennett's new duet with Amy Winehouse, 'Body and Soul,' the last song the troubled British singer ever recorded in her life. Released this week, just in time to be eligible for the 2012 awards, the song would be a huge sentimental favorite if it makes it into the Record of the Year category.

Bennett could also win Album of the Year if his 'Duets II' gets enough votes to make the final cut. He walked away with the award in 1995 when, as a young buck at 68 years old, he won for 'MTV Unplugged.'

The dates of eligibility for the 2012 Grammy Awards are October 1, 2010 – September 30, 2011. Any recordings released between these dates are contenders. That means that late 2010 releases, like Taylor Swift's 'Speak Now' and Kanye West's 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,' will feature prominently in next year's ceremony.

We think it's silly in this digital age to have such an early cutoff date. There is no reason the Grammys couldn't allow recordings through at least November to be eligible. Both rounds of the voting process could take place entirely online and nominees could be determined in a matter of a week or two.

The 2012 nominees won't be revealed until November, with the awards ceremony taking place in February.

2012 Grammy Awards nomination special date: November 30, 2011
2012 Grammy Awards date: February 12, 2012

My predictions for who will get nominated:

Britney Spears better get some nominations, after years of snubs and only one win in 2005. Gosh the judges must really hate her music. She deserves recognition too, not just one nominations, give her a few!

Katy Perry is set to break her record of 5 consecutive #1's, and she might get a 6th next week. "Teenage Dream", was nominated last year, and can't be nominated again. Good to see the lifespan of the album is prolonged. So she can still gets noms for "Firework", "E.T" and "Last Friday Night".

Adele is expected to dominate, but does the favourite ever win "Album of the Year". Tony Bennett could cause an upset.

My top categories:

The "BIG 4" categories:

ALBUM OF THE YEAR: there might be 6, in case a tie occurs.

Adele - 21
Lady Gaga - Born This Way
Britney Spears - Femme Fatale
Taylor Swift - Speak Now
Kanye West - My Beautiful, Dark, Twisted Fantasy
Tony Bennett - Duets II

RECORD OF THE YEAR: hopefully a tie occurs, let there be 6!

Adele - Rolling In The Deep
Lady Gaga - Judas or You & I (label didn't submit "Born" and "Edge", WTF!)
Katy Perry - Firework
Britney Spears - Till' the World Ends
Tony Bennett & Amy Winehouse - Body & Soul
Maroon 5 & Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger

SONG OF THE YEAR:

Adele - Someone Like You
Lady Gaga - Judas (were "Born" or "Edge" submitted by label)
Katy Perry - Firework
Britney Spears - Till' the World Ends
Tony Bennett & Amy Winehouse - Body & Soul
Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga - The Lady Is A Tramp

BEST NEW ARTIST:

LMFAO
Kesha (long overdue recognition)
Nicki Minaj
Jessie J
The Band Perry

BEST DANCE RECORDING (new rules apply to this category, pure dance, less pop apparently)

David Guetta - Sunshine
Calvin Harris & Kelis - Bounce
LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem
Chris Brown - Beautiful People
Robyn - Call Your Girlfriend

BEST FEMALE POP VOCAL PERFORMANCE:

Britney Spears - Till' the World Ends
Lady Gaga - You & I
Katy Perry - Firework
Jennifer Lopez - On The Floor
Beyonce - Best Thing I Never Had
Adele - Someone Like You

BEST POP COLLABORATION BY DUO OR GROUP:

Maroon 5 & Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger
Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga - The Lady Is A Tramp
Rihanna & Britney Spears - S&M (Remix)
Jennifer Lopez & Pitbull - On The Floor
Black Eyed Peas - Just Can't Get Enough

BEST POP VOCAL ALBUM:

Britney Spears - Femme Fatale
Lady Gaga - Born This Way
Rihanna - Loud
Kesha - Animal / Cannibal
Beyonce - 4
Adele - 21

BEST R&B ALBUM:

Beyonce - 4
Rihanna - Loud
Jennifer Lopez - Love?
Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday
Jill Scott - The Light of the Sun

BEST RAP/SUNG COLLABORATION:

P.Diddy & Skylar Grey - Coming Home
Dr. Dre, Eminem & Skylar Grey - I Need A Doctor
Lil'Wayne - Dedication to my Ex
Rihanna & Drake - What's My Name
Beyonce - Party
Kelly Rowland & Nelly - Gone
What makes you think Britney would be nominated for Record Of The Year?

I would have thought Christina Perry, Band Perry or Coldplay would be in with a chance!
I would give the "Best New Artist" award to Jessie J but none of the song of the year, record of the year or album of the year nominations would get my vote.
Why would GaGa's team submit the hot mess that is Judas over Born This Way and Edge Of Glory?
Lady Gaga fails to submit 'The Edge of Glory' for 2012 Grammy consideration

Lady Gaga will not be nominated for Record of the Year at the 2012 Grammy Awards for either "Born This Way" or "The Edge of Glory," because her record label shockingly chose not to submit either song for the category.

That's the big news to come out of the submission lists that were leaked online yesterday (and then immediately taken down.) The Grammys are in the first step of the nomination process, and that involves labels deciding which tracks and albums to submit for consideration.

Instead of submitting "Born" or "Edge" for Record of the Year, Gaga's label inexplicably submitted "Judas" and "You and I," two songs that were widely-panned and not nearly as big on radio.

Gaga could still sneak into the category, though, as she is also eligible for "The Lady is a Tramp," her duet with Tony Bennett, the veteran crooner who we feel has the best shot of knocking off Adele in the major categories.

Gaga also submitted "You and I" and "Judas" to the Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo fields. It makes no sense that she would ignore her two biggest hits of the year. But in any case, she's likely to score a few nominations, especially given that she's performing at the nomination announcement tv special on November 30 on CBS. "Born This Way" is a likely contender for Album of the Year, at least.

As for Adele, she submitted "Rolling in the Deep" to Record and Song of the Year, and "Someone Like You" to Best Pop Solo. It was a tough call between the two. While "Rolling" was the bigger hit, "Someone" is fresher and is a more beautiful all-around song. "Someone" might have been the better choice, but either way, Adele is going to be a big winner come Grammy time.

We have a copy of the full nominee submissions in 14 major categories and will be providing more information in the coming days.

The 2012 Grammy Awards date is February 12, 2012. Check out more of my Grammy Awards articles.

While meaty, it’s important to note the list may -in its absolute final form-have additions. What’s more, it details the submissions of largely Top 40 Pop/Urban acts – the Grammy’s cover much more ground than that.

However, *Very* reliable sources confirm this to be legitimate. With that, we want to know what you think. Are some artists/labels reaching beyond reality? Or are others not capitalising on theirs?

Your thoughts?

Still can't believe Glee submitted Bills Bills Bills. Worse use of a song in the show, no matter how well performed it may have been. A pointless number.
Grammy awards are easily my favourite awards show at the moment. Lots of surprise yet awesome winners in recent years including Coldplay and Kings of Leon.

Also the "Inspirational" category is a favourite of mine

Interesting about Gaga's record company. I'm blaming incompetence
I wouldn't blame incompentance I'd blame stupidity.
Calling it:

Album: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Record: Firework
2009 Mumford & Sons song that rose to popularity in the US from the 2011 Grammy Awards nominated for Record of the Year 2012, Bon Iver in both Record & Song of the Year categories and best new artist. Skrillex also in best new artist category.

lols are coming thick and fast

My predictions are:

Album - Pink Friday
Record - Firework or Moves Like Jagger or Rolling In The Deep
Already out

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/54th_Grammy_Awards

Ooh, an Australian band gets a nom
I am quite positively shocked by the nominations. Very little to dislike, except for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy not being up for Album of the Year despite all the psycopathic praise surrounsing it.
Last edited:
not many complaints, also skrillex up for 3 awards, GO SKRILLEX!
Skrillex really? Still trying to get my head around that sound be considered Grammy worthy
Otis
Very pleasing nominations! A very good mix of people and artists, hopefully this years will be very successful.

LET'S GO FOSTER THE PEOPLE, CUT COPY AND COLDPLAY!

To see Mumford & Songs and Kings of Leon get noms is very pleasing.

The Best New Artist is easily the worst group, don't like the nominees.
I reckon Nicki Minaj has best new artist in the bag!! There's no one there who can beat her surely. The Rap album is a tough category though, no Adele . Hopefully Nicki bags that one too. Very keen for the awards! Should be an eventful night lol.
RECORD OF THE YEAR: Adele's to lose. It's her year

ALBUM OF THE YEAR: Once again, Adele must win. I'm surprised (and slightly saddened) to see Rihanna's inclusion in this category, despite Rated R missing out on a nomination here. But there were far better albums this year than Loud. Sad to see GaGa lose Album of the Year for the third year running

BEST NEW ARTIST: Skrillex being nominated is a joke. i'm surprised by foster the people missing a nom there but seriously, what grammy voter is going to vote for skrillex? i hope nicki wins it, but i wouldn't be surprised if bon iver take it this time round.

SONG OF THE YEAR: Once again, Adele's to lose

It's sad that Katy will be going home empty handed again this year.

Also just looking at the wikipedia page, have they gotten rid of the vocals categories (female/male/rock/pop/r&b vocals etc). Those were my favourite!

Just read above regarding The Edge of Glory not being submitted! I agree!!! I was so surprised to see, of all songs, JUDAS, nominated!!! This is her least appealing to the general public, it doesn't push boundaries at all and is generally quite grating if you don't like GaGa. The Edge of Glory had real pop appeal. Heck even You And I would have been alright but come on!!! Maybe her label think she has album of the year in the bag?

2012 Grammy Nominations: Kanye West Tops The List

Adele, Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars tie for six nods each, just falling short of West's seven nominations.

By Kelley L. Carter

For the second year in a row, a hip-hop artist is leading the pack in Grammy nominations.

Although his name was only called for one category during Wednesday's (November 30) "Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!," Kanye West walked away with a leading seven nods, following the hip-hop trend set by last year's leading nominee, Eminem.

He's nominated for his Watch the Throne joint album with Jay-Z and also picked up a few nominations — including Song of the Year — for his powerhouse collaborative track "All of the Lights," which features Rihanna, Fergie and Kid Cudi.

He's even nominated against himself, with Watch the Throne and his own My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy nabbing Rap Album of the Year nods.

West was followed by this year's critical darling, Adele, who is tied with the Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars for six nods each. Lil Wayne and dance-music breakout Skrillex each garnered five nods.

While the Grammys have a reputation for catering to an older demographic (Robert Plant and Alison Krauss for 2009 Album of the Year, anyone?), this year's nominees are notably young, with 34-year-old West looking downright geriatric next to fellow nominees Adele (23), Rihanna (23), Lady Gaga (25) and Bruno Mars (26).

ADELE gets 6 Grammy Nominations, don't forget how she did win in the past! when she triumphed over Duffy at the 2010 Grammy Awards. No need to be sad if she loses, and only gets one award, because she delivered a speech and won during the telecast. CONGRATS for getting 6 noms, she deserves it.
Very much expected noms for Adele this year, it would be a case of been there done that for her.

LADY GAGA! very upset to see the Grammy juries snub her hits "Judas" and "You & I". Gaga can now solely blame her record label for going against her wishes, and not submitting "Born This Way" and "The Edge of Glory". If her label had listened to her, then she today would recieve noms in both the Song and Record of the Year categories.
Very upset that "Lady is a Tramp" got snubbed!

Feel so relieved that "Born This Way" album, got it's well deserve nom in "Album of the Year, for the 3RD CONSECUTIVE YEAR! has any other artist acheived this! it will be 3RD TIME LUCKY! for Gaga. Fuck the sales, she deserves to win "Album of the Year", based on the effort and hundreds of tour dates around the world, plus the stress.

KATY PERRY! omg! "Firework" got RECORD OF THE YEAR nomination! what a relief, well deserved recognition. After being released in October 2010, the song achieved long term chart success throughout 2011, and outsell her other singles.

She has a strong chance of winning in this category.
She is on mission to win her 1ST EVER! Grammy award. Despite not winning every fuckin year, 2009, 2010, and 2011, now in 2012 she has another chance to win. I know she desperately wants to win. I really hope and pray that she wins!

RIHANNA! recieves lots of nominations, and "Loud" recieves ALBUM OF THE YEAR nom! yes! well deserved! good to see "What's My Name" recieve a nomination.

BRUNO MARS! got plenty of noms last year, so to see him recieve more noms this year isn't really exciting at all. The album missed the cut off date last year, but he clearly has won over the Grammy juries.

SURPRISE NEW RELEASE merged category. Gone is the "Best Female Pop Vocal" and "Best Male Pop Vocal", now it's the newly merged "Best Pop Solo Performance". Why the sudden change??

CUT COPY! recieves GRAMMY NOMINATION! fresh from their Aria Award win last Sunday, what a way to end the year. OMG! congratulations! representing out country next year!

DAVID GUETTA! nominated for "Sunshine", well deserved, will it be released as the next single?

MAROON 5 & CHRISTINA AGUILERA! recieve nomination! well deserved, they just made it before the Oct 30 cut off date.

For the first time ever, I'm so impressed with all five artists in the "Album of the Year" category, I'm a fan of all five artists, good to see more Pop, no Country music, and only one Rock artist in the category. A pop music album to win "Album of the Year", it's about time!

BRITNEY SPEARS! once again snubbed and hated by the juries, very rude and mean thing to do to Britney on her 30th birthday. Very upsetting and degrading to the artist. A #1 album and single in 2011, and two other Top 10 hits ,WTF! C'mon Grammys, where is the love for Britney.

KESHA snubbed again, WTF!

PITBULL, J.LO, ENRIQUE, BEP and LMFAO all missing out, WTF!

A dramatic cutdown in nominations this year.

From 108 to 78 categories!, much better!

"KESHA snubbed again, WTF!"

lol

but anyway, great to see some serious discussion here. Gaga's record company must be either really stupid or really confident and I doubt it's the latter.

I agree that it's Adele's year to lose, although Firework, Bon Iver and Mumford & Songs can really cause the upset if they wanted to.

What happened to Tony Bennett's stealth attack for Album Of The Year?
Pitbull, BEP & LMFAO missing hout.... That's a relief for me!
Grammy Awards 2012: RECORD OF THE YEAR predictions

http://idolator.com/6168301/grammy-awards-2012-record-of-the-year

We Pick Record Of The Year

We’ve shared our 2012 Grammy picks for Best New Artist, Song Of The Year and who we think will take all the Pop and Dance categories — now let’s take a look at who’s up for Record Of The Year.

The nominees in this category are basically a mirror image of Song Of The Year, with Kanye West’s “All Of The Lights” swapped with Katy Perry’s mega-hit “Firework.” Can Perry make the Recording Academy go ahh-ahh-ahh and triumph, or is the unstoppable force of Adele too big to beat? Head below for our predictions.

RECORD OF THE YEAR
Adele, “Rolling in the Deep”
Bon Iver, “Holocene”
Bruno Mars, “Grenade”
Mumford & Sons, “The Cave”
Katy Perry, “Firework”

THOUGHTS ON THE NOMINEES: Besides Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream single (which shot to #1 without the help of a remix), we’ve already talked about these tracks in our Song Of The Year post (and why we believe Bon Iver, Mumford & Sons and Bruno Mars will come up empty-handed, at least in this category).

“Firework” without a doubt carries an impressive production, and this self-empowerment anthem came right at the forefront of the It Gets Better-theme in pop music that we can’t seem to escape anymore.

But we just don’t think this is Katy’s Grammy time to shine — that was last year, when she was nominated for four awards, including Album Of The Year. This year, the Grammys should basically just be renamed the Adele’s.

WHO WILL WIN: Sorry to be predictable here, but “Rolling In The Deep” is going to roll right over all the other nominees.

WHO SHOULD WIN: Once again, we can’t get Adele’s song out of our heads, or off our frontrunner’s list. Katy will just have to continue feeling like a plastic bag on Grammy night.

So that’s our take. How about you? Vote for who you think will win in our poll!

Who do you think will win a Grammy for Record Of The Year?

Katy Perry, “Firework” (57%, 363 Votes)

Adele, “Rolling in the Deep” (33%, 212 Votes)

Bruno Mars, “Grenade” (7%, 44 Votes)

Bon Iver, “Holocene” (2%, 12 Votes)

Mumford & Sons, “The Cave” (1%, 6 Votes)

Grammy Awards 2012: SONG OF THE YEAR predictions

We Pick Song Of The Year

We’ve shared our 2012 Grammy predictions for Best New Artist and all the Pop categories, and today it’s time to move on to one of the big ones – Song Of The Year. Last year, Lady Antebellum won this category (as well as Record Of The Year) for “Need You Now”.

Is Adele destined to land the same one-two punch with “Rolling In The Deep”? Or will one of the other nominees score an upset? Hop below for our thoughts — and let your voice be heard in our Grammy poll!

SONG OF THE YEAR NOMINEES

Kanye West, “All of the Lights”
Mumford & Sons, “The Cave”
Bruno Mars, “Grenade”
Bon Iver, “Holocene”
Adele, “Rolling in the Deep”

THOUGHTS ON THE NOMINEES: Out of the lot, Kanye West’s “All Of The Lights” is the only tune not also in the running for Record Of The Year.

Though “AOTL” is one of Yeezy’s standout tracks on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, when is the last time a rap song won Song Of The Year? Does 1989’s “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” count? (No, it doesn’t.)

Mumford & Sons’ joyous “The Cave” and Bon Iver’s gentle “Holocene” are two beautifully written songs, and we couldn’t agree more with Bruno Mars’ heartwrenching “Grenade” being included here.

Perhaps in another year, any one of those melodies could snag Song Of The Year. But this year has Adele. And no single made a bigger impression in 2011 than “Rolling In The Deep”, which is still completely enjoyable even when turned into a song about the Super Bowl.

WILL WIN: This will be just one of the many categories where you can expect Adele to prevail.

SHOULD WIN: “Rolling In The Deep” was a classic the moment we heard it. And most people seem to agree, as the song was #1 on the Hot 100 for seven weeks, and was the best-selling single of 2011.

Even if you think the song is overplayed, we bet you still can’t stop yourself from shouting, “We could have had it AAAAAAAALL!” when the chorus kicks in.

Now vote for who you think will win:

Who do you think will win a Grammy for Song Of The Year?

Adele, “Rolling in the Deep” (61%, 307 Votes)

Bruno Mars, “Grenade” (25%, 124 Votes)

Kanye West, “All of the Lights” (8%, 40 Votes)

Bon Iver, “Holocene” (4%, 19 Votes)

Mumford & Sons, “The Cave” (2%, 12 Votes)

Grammy Awards 2012: ALBUM OF THE YEAR predictions

We Pick Album Of The Year

Music’s biggest night is but days away, and though we know who’s showing up and who’s performing with whom, the winners of the actual 2012 Grammy Awards remain a mystery. (Okay, so we’re pretty sure Adele is going to pick up a few trophies.)

After posting our predictions for Best New Artist, Song Of The Year, Record Of The Year and all the Pop and Dance categories, we turn our crystal ball to the biggest award of the night, Album Of The Year.

This year’s group of nominees include a rock act, two wildly-dressed pop stars, a classy crooner and a woman who turned her heartbreak into an unprecedented amount of album sales. Head below to see our picks for whose album will come out on top.

ALBUM OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Adele, 21
The Foo Fighters, Wasting Light
Lady Gaga, Born This Way
Bruno Mars, Doo-Wops and Hooligans
Rihanna, Loud

THOUGHTS ON THE NOMINEES: The Foo Fighters are the sole rock group of the pack, and with all this pop filling the category (and possibly splitting the votes), it’s not completely ridiculous to think Dave Grohl and Co. could be more of a frontrunner than they would have been otherwise.

Though there are bigger, more ubiquitous contenders here, let’s not forget when Herbie Hancock bested both Amy Winehouse and Kanye West’s mega-hit albums in 2008. (We definitely didn’t see that one coming.)

Rihanna’s Loud appears to have landed a spot here because it was simply inescapable in 2011 — she released six singles (a couple of those paired with controversial music videos), embarked on a world tour, and made a ridiculous amount of live appearances to make sure this album made an impact.

But how many of those six singles will we be considered classic RiRi songs a year from now? “Only Girl In The World”, “What’s My Name”, maybe? We don’t see a long shelf life for the majority of this album. (Good thing Rihanna releases a new set of tunes pretty much every November.)

This is Lady Gaga’s third consecutive Album Of The Year nomination, as Mama Monster’s The Fame and The Fame Monster were nominated in 2010 and 2011, respectively. Born This Way — whose title track was performed during last year’s Grammy ceremony — certainly yielded quite a few wonderful singles (and “Judas”…) and showed us a brand new side of the pop star.

Perhaps too many new sides of the pop star, as the whole album lacked cohesion and focus — it seemed like a bunch of big ideas stuffed into one package. Basically, Gaga’s BTW era comes off as a bit of a disappointment when compared to her previous releases, which were nowhere near as divisive.

Bruno Mars’ debut is all style and class, even when he’s singing with monkeys about being oh-so lazy. The man was practically bred to win Grammys — as he did last year for Best Male Pop Solo Performance for Doo-Wops single “Just The Way You Are”. In any other year, we think he’d be the one to beat. But…

Can anyone stop Adele from scoring Album Of The Year? Because, face it, 21 really was the album of the year. It sold more copies than any other LP this year (over six million), scored the best-selling single of the year with “Rolling In The Deep”, landed at the top of countless year-end lists, and had four of its tracks covered on Glee. It turned Adele from that lovely British singer who sang “Chasing Pavements” to the savior of the music industry.

WHO WILL WIN: We know the blog should just be rechristened Adelator at this point, but this is the Brit songbird’s award to lose.

WHO SHOULD WIN: Born This Way and 21 both landed on our list of our Favorite 10 Albums of 2011, so we’re big fans of both LPs. But Gaga’s opus, though ambitious and unique, still comes off as trying too hard. Adele’s 21, however, is as much a masterpiece as breakup albums come, and it all seems effortless. We think Adele deserves this one more.

Now it’s your turn — who will win the big prize of the night? Vote below!

Who do you think will win a Grammy for Album Of The Year?

Adele, '21' (37%, 220 Votes)

Rihanna, 'Loud' (36%, 216 Votes)

Lady Gaga, 'Born This Way' (24%, 143 Votes)

Foo Fighters, 'Wasting Light' (2%, 10 Votes)

Bruno Mars, 'Doo-Wops & Hooligans' (1%, 9 Votes)

Total Voters: 598

I officially don't care who won what now (although that's not to deminish the great reporting from irelander thank you so much) Just found out I See The Light won Best Song written for TV/Film. Abiout bloody time that song got some recognition from a mainstream awards ceremony.
Wow only 10 awards handed out in the telecast!! No wonder I don't watch the Grammys LOL
You didn't miss much BillyBrett, more than half the performances were very bad but Taylor Swift, Foo Fighters and Paul McCartney's closing song were the highlights.
What was with that Nicki Minaj performance? And Rihanna once again proves she can't sing live!
Biggest disappointment was Chris Martin's vocal for Coldplay's Paradise.
No worries BB, I was happy to do it. I thought most of the performances were alright, even some of the ones I don't usually like turned out alright. I thought Chris Brown's solo performance was pretty weak, and Coldplay seemed a bit disappointing too. Nicki Minaj was horrible as expected, but the highlights were Paul McCartney and Foo Fighters for sure.
Yes thanks Irelander. You know, I've got Sky over here in New Zealand and not one channel was screening the Grammy's (although E! had Live On The Red Carpet lol), and I couldn't connect to a proper streaming site to watch online, so thanks for keeping this up to date irelander.

I agree with BillyBrett, it really stinks that an AWARDS SHOW focuses more on performances. I wouldn't mind performance-award-performance-award, but by the look of the above commentary, it was often performance-performance-award and the like which stinks imo.

Will look forward to seeing the live performances once they arrive on Youtube. Good to see Taylor Swift did a good live performance, she's a little bit half half for me. Shame about the others though.

Yeah i think a lot of people are asking that very question Hijinx, who the fuck is Bon Iver?
Up until watching the grammys i'd assumed it was a band but i now know he's an odd looking creature and definately looked out of place amongst the Katy Perry's & Lady Gaga's.
@alley It was performance-performance-performance-ADS-ADS-BRA AD-ADS-ADS-ADS-ADS-WEIGHTLOSS SCAM-ADS-ADS-ADS-performance-performance-award-ADS-ADS-ADS-ADS-ADS-ADS etc.
You should really think about Pet Insurance irelander. You never know when your goldfish will get a nasty cough
I bet Richard Gere needs lots of pet insurance if you know what I mean.
Yeah, my imaginary goldfish are often costing me heaps on medical bills
Would that be for the psychotherapeutic medications irelander?
Lol, out of the 10 Awards Telecasted, I got 6 correct (in my prediction).
Is Bon Iver a band or an solo artist. I thought Bon Iver was a band, but even Wikipedia is no help. As in 2009 Bon Iver was nominated for a Brit Award as Best New International Male Solo Act but yet the whole article uses the term 'they'.

And don't even get me started with the fact that Bon Iver won with a second album and have been around for years and had success previously to 2011. Stupid Grammy rules. Not cranky at Bon Iver winning though, just scratching my head an eligibility rules.
Last edited:
I have to be honest, I can't get a clear answer either, and the fact that Justin on his own is often credited as Bon Iver just adds to the confusion. I generally speak in ambiguous terms to avoid a clear standing on it
Thank goodness you are just as confused Hijinx, I thought maybe it was my mainstream taste that was causing my issue.
I think Bon Iver is technically a band, but I think it is similar to Nine Inch Nails, where Justin Vernon is referred to as the band itself but there are other members within it.
