G'day, America's biggest selling (200 million +) Pop/Rock band of all-time : The Beach Boys (Brian Wilson [1961-1988], Mike Love [1961-now], Al Jardine [1961/1963-1998], Bruce Johnston [1965-1971/1978-now] & David Marks [1962-1963/1997-2001] ; sadly Dennis & Carl Wilson passed away 1983/1998 respectively), are reuniting for the groups 50th annivesary....
This is going too entail a 50 gig world tour (starting April 2012, at New Orleans Jazz Festival), a new album (new material + a remake of the 1968 hit "Do It Again"), a new greatest hits package & back cataloge releases (possibly a box set of thier albums).
Will post more info as it becomes availabe.... Last edited:
The single "That's Why God Made The Radio" was released on the 25th April.
The new album "That's Why God Made The Radio" is set for release on the 3rd June...
Track listing is as follows...
1. Think About The Days 2. That's Why God Made The Radio 3. Isn't It Time 4. Spring Vacation 5. The Private Life Of Bill And Sue 6. Shelter 7. Daybreak Over The Ocean 8. Beaches In Mind 9. Strange World 10. From There To Back Again 11. Pacific Coast Highway 12. Summer's Gone
and in some countries... 13. Do It Again (2012 Version)
Definitely not something new by any strech of the imagination...but this is the best Beach Boys album since thier 1977 album "Love You"....probably wouldn't interest the casual listner but if your a fan...you'll like...
It sounds like classic Beach Boys...yet you can't help but feel some nostalgia through the record. It reflect's on the greatness of thier past...but it doesn't replicate thier incredible 60's output...which is not suprising, given thier not in thier early 20's anymore...
BUT that said... The last three tracks see Wilson tap into the "Pet Sounds - SMiLE" era Beach Boys and is definitely the highlight of the album
G'day, The Beach Boys have annouced tour dates for down under
* 28th August : Entertainment Centre, Brisbane * 30th August : Allphone Arena, Sydney * 31st August : Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne * 2nd September : Entertainment Centre, Adeliade * 6th September : Burswood Dome, Perth
Yeah, I heard about that recently, and it's quite cool. Although they are in their 60's-70's, and with Wilson overcoming his problems, it'll be quite interesting.
Wow, should be awesome Joe. Read a great write up in last weeks weekend paper about Brian in particular, just keep the pipe away from him, he's in enough trouble
Lol Beanster....kept the pipe in my pocket away from view...lol
Had an amazing night...50+ hit songs over three hours, they put on an incredible performance, all of them still have thier voices like it was still the 60's....i'm still buzzing from the experience
The Beach Boys....celebrating 50 years, are set too release a new compilation album "Greatest Hits : 50 Big Ones" later this month....plus 12 of thier studio albums remastered....
The studio albums will have both mono & stereo versions....the remastered albums are as follows :
* Surfin' USA (1963) * Surfer Girl (1963) * Little Deuce Coupe (1963) * Shut Down, Vol.2. (1964) * All Summer Long (1964) * Today! (1965) * Summer Days (And Summer Nights) (1965) * Party! (1965) * Pet Sounds (1966) * Smiley Smile (1967) * Sunflower (1970) * Surf's Up (1971)
G'day Dave, the group finshed the gig off with a three song encore....Barbara Ann, Kokomo and Fun,Fun,Fun...it was pretty cool cause Brian stepped away from the piano and strapped on his bass too thump the last three numbers out
