1st person to post a weekly chart for the new year! Portugal. The Man are still #1.
NEW ENTRY
In exciting times, I only have 1 entry this week. It comes courtesy of noisy band Sleigh Bells, for once I liked a song of theirs from first listen, and "Born To Lose" enters at #25, one place lower than Lana Del Rey last week

Somebody That I Used To Know (feat Kimbra) {2 Weeks @ #1}
Perhaps I can be the last person to post their weekly for the new year? In any case, I'm the first to comment on the first chart posted of the year, that's a record or something, probably.
Noisy band? If that's not a definition of TRASH! band, I don't know what is. In any case, ot's fitting that they debuted one place lower than Lana did last week, I'd rather die than lose.
Great to see the Portugese remain on top and Black Keys in the top three. Nice jumps for Coldplay, Florence, Lana, Graffiti6 and Grouplove.
Please (at least) one more week for STIUTK to make half a year. More would be preferable. Oh, and it looks like I'm going to outpeak you on Part Time Believer which seems wrong somehow since I wouldn't even go see Boy & Bear if I had free tickets.
So American is #1 for a 4th non-consecutive week, and yep that's about all I have to say there.
NEW ENTRIES
Yay I actually have entr'ies' this week! The highest one and probably the only one that counts is from Neon Trees who score a 3rd entry to date with "Everybody Talks" in at #26. And due to a lack of action and a stockhold of flops at the bottom, other stuff can sneak in, namely The Big Pink with their 2nd entry ever "Hit The Ground (Superman)" at #37. And even less logical, and with absolutely nothing to do with anything, M83 & Owl Eyes both sneak back in to fill up the numbers.

I promise I will eventually listen to all the unheard songs when I get back, and that goes for Neon Trees too
Great to see P.TM on top again, and go Black Keys too! I think I would prefer Lonely Boy to hit the top next week, but I like So American being there anyway. Cool re-entry for Raiders. Shame to see Trial Kennedy out of the top 10, even if it is for a track that I have peaked higher personally, oh, I mean, go Yuksek!
Nice rises elsewhere for Grouplove, Last Dinosaurs and Matt Corby. Noooooooo for Woe & Flutter leaving
Yay for random re-entries, although yours are badly times, since now they've charted over two years and that makes things yucky. But I still like random returns, even if there's an Old Man involved. Speaking of, nice to see Faces at it's lowest position ever!
Also awesome to see Neon Trees debut, another great track from them, I was hoping you'd get it in there soon. As for the other debut, it kind of pains me to call it TRASH! since I like them, but by almost all definitions it is TRASH!
Great to see So American remain on top. Lonely Boy looks threatening though, but I prefer SA, so I hope not. Good jumps also for Coldplay, Florence, Lana and Graffiti6.
Lonely Boy top 2 : Coldplay surely did reach top 5 without me noticing, must've rose really quickly too. Great to see Matt Corby rising and nice to see that Florence made top 10 and The A Team made top 20. Go Graffiti6, Avicii, Gotye, Foster and Snow Patrol!
Exciting! Bam! Boom! Crazy! Insanity! Well not quite but I hope that helped. Portugal. The Man are still #1, for 5 weeks now! Not a lot of movement which means that old songs are still rising where they probably shouldn't.
NEW ENTRIES
I guess this is exciting, #9 seems like an odd place for a debut for some reason, but nonetheless, the band I'd never heard of a week ago in Howler have done it, with their track "Back Of Your Neck". After having a decent hit and then struggling to emulate, Ball Park Music are back in the chart with their 2nd entry "Literally Baby" at #30.

Cool to see P.TM at number one still, and lol for Yuksek's stats
Nice for Ball Park Music, but I haven't heard that one so I'll add it to the list And that goes for the other debut Great to see both Owlies songs rise, shame for both leavers but especially Kasabian.
Oh no, Gotye's on his last legs :/ Oh no, the FTP song I'm starting to get into is on its last legs too :/
It's not really exciting. Bam and boom helped. A Ka-Pow or Bazinga would not have gone astray either. And it is kind of crazy and insane that Portugal The Man are still on top. I didn't expect that.
Ewwww, why is Faces rising again? You really should just re-enter Girls Like You at this point, it's waaaaay more special and stuff. And not the Ralph Wiggum kind of special. The STIUTK kind of special. Speaking of that, it's sad to see it drop below the other Old Man too. Last legs sadface.
So there's two debuts, and they're both TRASH! At least I had forewarning of them coming. But how can one be so high? It's like you're trying to pretend it's not TRASH! Nice jumps for Lana Del Rey, Neon Trees and Graffiti6.

Your #1 is meh even though i haven't heard it (Maybe i should listen to it? but then i might love it like Faces and chart it than BZ will say something about it, Oh life), Anyway i'm liking the rises for these songs Faces, Born To Die & Everybody Talks, eww Midnight City went up
Yep, that's 6 weeks at #1 for Portugal. The Man. I totally did not expect this but nonetheless it's happened. Howler, Last Dinosaurs & Neon Trees all make strong gains towards the top.
NEW ENTRIES
Does anyone watch Channel Go!? All I know is that for the last week or so, they've been running promos for something, and they've featured this awesome song, namely Husky's "The Woods". It enters at #17 and expect it to rise. The list of bands who released their last album before my chart came around is continuing to get smaller, and the latest one is The Shins, who return from a 5 year absense and debut to my chart at #25 with "Simple Song". Finally in what I hope can grow on me further, Children Collide enter at #39 with their 6th entry to date, "Sword To A Gunfight". They are the 2nd artist to chart across 3 albums here, after Kings of Leon though British India could put them down to 3rd if I knew anything about their upcoming album.

Somebody That I Used To Know (feat Kimbra) {2 Weeks @ #1}
Nice rise for No Light, No Light and I'm surprised at how high Neon Trees is, it's not a bad track. Yay for The Big Pink rise, that was free on itunes this week! It's good!
So American is a good song so it is nice to see it #1 still. Not a lot of movement. I have never heard of Husky, I have heard the other two entries but I can't remember what they sounded like And that's about all there is to say.
Wow, Portugal The Man equal the run on top for Faces. Obviously this is their last week on top, it surely won't be allowed to beat Old Man into submission, but I would like it to. It's my favourite of the top six. Meanwhile, #6 is my prediction to take over on top, although Lonely Boy might sneak in one week first.
Nice jumps for Lana Del Rey, Neon Trees, Graffiti6 and The Free Pink. I'm hoping Lana and Neons can make the top ten, it's a shame to see Matt stalling just as I start to like it, I do want it to go top ten now too. It's constantly surprising me how high Graffiti6 are getting though, please let the surprises continue!
Ah, a debut that is not TRASH! Yay! Of course, it's accompanied by two TRASH! debuts, but this is a small victory at least. Anyway, the Children Collide song is decent, but not near their best, like you, I'm hoping it grows on me further. The other two are obvious TRASH! songs by obvious TRASH! artists, but I guess I'll have to work on fixing that. Although it seems silly and pointless, anytime I remove the TRASH! you seem to replace it with more. What's up with that!?
A very cool debut for Children Collide with " Sword to a Gunfight " . Once a very cool number one with So Amercian .And also a cool jump for Lana Del Ray.

Nice to see Lana Del Rey rising, and I sit in wait hoping for The Black Keys to hit the top spot. I'm also interested to see if the JJJ H100 has much affect on your chart as you have many of the songs charting.
Say you did a folk cover of "Exit Music (For a Film)", and completely re-arranged the structure into a right mess, you might get my new #1, Husky's "The Woods". It's worth noting that it has completely obliterated my old record for biggest jump to #1, previously a relatively mediocre 9-1 jump for Klaxons' "Echoes". It's also my 66th #1 and 34th Australian #1. On the other hand, a record not to be proud of, The Black Keys have tied the current record of spending 4 weeks stuck at #2, perhaps it's fitting with their #2 ranking in some poll.
Lower down, Howler keep rising, Last Dinosaurs provide a lazy depiction of zooming, Matt Corby rises again because [s]everyone else is so I needed to get in on that[/s] yes, it's actually a really good song. Admittedly, Husky do screw over a number of songs that should be rising faster. The Shins rise strongly, and "Midnight City" claims the title of longest chart sitter, with help from finishing 59 places higher than "Raiders" in some list or something.
NEW ENTRIES
Due to me being distracted by much older songs for a good part of the week, the debuts fail to make an immediate impact, and the highest only comes in at #29. That debut comes from Fun. with their song "We Are Young". Apparently it rose to prominence from Glee, oh well. I've resisted charting it for a couple of weeks because it just does not fit in and feels strange to me. And rightly so! Nonetheless, the 98th 'hottest' song of 2011 courtesy of JayYe, or Kan-Z comes in at #34, of course it's "Ni**as in Paris". For the 9064th time, I've been played a fool with promo singles. This time from Sleigh Bells, who enter at #38 with their actual 1st single, "Comeback Kid".
The only entry I know is the one for JayYe, cool to see it in there. In my opinion it looks more inconspicuous than Avicii, Calvin Harris and even Coldplay, but that's just me
Cool rises for Children Collide, Last Dinosaurs and Matt Corby, but shame that M83 is on its last legs and a shame that Owl Eyes left. I still don't understand why Avicii ever entered your chart, let alone how it's stayed in for six weeks In any case, it's a shame that P.TM are off the bottom but the new number one is decent.
I gave your #1 a listen, It's alright but i preferred Portugal. The Man there, anyway good rises for Lana Del Rey & Neon Trees, Surprised too see We Are Young enter :O
I think you just ridiculously plucked a song from the middle of the chart to spite my predictions for what would be #1. You were meant to spite them by keeping So American on top. I specifically said it wouldn't be for a reason! Anyway, I've already pretty much forgotten the new #1.
Naggers does not fit in because it's pure crap. So ewwwww. I think it's the worst song you've charted in quite a while! I'd rather the TRASH!y lowest debut to be honest. Fortunately We Are Young debuts too which somewhat makes up for the other two. I remember kind of liking it.
Nice jumps for Lana Del Rey, Matt Corby, Graffiti6, The Shins and The Free Pink.
Love how The Big Pink is here. They will debut on my chart next week Also love Lana, M83, Grouplove, double Florence and the debut for Fun. (can't wait for their album!)....and I'm championing The Black Keys for a #1 here! Last edited:
Ohh, Lonely Boy is never going to get to number at this rate! Nice to see Lana Del Rey, Matt Corby & Avicii rising. A couple of my other faves fall, but only a spot or two, so it's not terrible.
Go Free and Levels! Wish Lonely Boy can get to #1 eventually. Go Lana Del Rey too. Great to see the longevity for Houdini, Feel So Close and Florence + The Machine. I hope The A Team can rack up a lot more weeks as well.
Firstly, I think it's important that my chart farm has a check up: http://i43.tinypic.com/21yeya.jpg I do believe it's in a more healthy state than normal
I compared "The Woods" to that totally awesome band I love called Radiohead last week, and since then, I've heard people draw comparisons to that other totally awesome band I love called Muse that sound nothing like that other band barring maybe one or two songs from over a decade ago *coughmyironlungcoughcavecough*. Nonetheless, with added radio airplay behind its back now, "The Woods" remains #1 for a 2nd week, because really, who has stupidly massive rises to #1, only to drop back down immediately? That'd be stupid. My #2 song is a new peak for the band Howler, and indeed monkeys in general. Their song "Back Of Your Neck" is peculiarly longer and more expletive-laden on the version that is played on the radio than on the version I generally listen to. It's only a minor thing though and probably will not affect its chart run at all.
Sharing is an act that involves company, thus if you were to do so, you wouldn't be lonely. This would be quite fortunate if you were say, a Lonely Boy and wanted to alleviate that status. Indeed there is a song just for that, it's by The Black Keys, and it manages to tie a record held by songs by Birds of Tokyo & Miike Snow. Technically it did it last week, but this week it drops from #2 to #3 so you could say that its streak at #2 is done, unless it gets back there for another 5 weeks. That'd be a record. Portland. The Man, as they assumably meant to call themselves drop further to #4, which while it may seem grim, is actually relatively good for a song that probably spent too long at #1, if it were a national chart, it might be out of the top 10 by now!
Normally people have reasons for songs rising, particularly when they were originally on a downward trend. As I've proven earlier this year, sometimes even re-entries don't have a point, so why should rises?! This segues nicely into The Jezabels' song "Trycolour". For no reason whatsoever, it's back in the top 5. Well it is a really good song, so I suppose that suffices, but even really good songs have to leave the top 5 for good at some point. But that would require additional [s]pylons[/s] really good songs, perhaps Matt Corby can fill that void, his song is up a ridiculous 6 places from #13 despite looking to have peaked a month ago. If it made the same rise next week, it'd be #1, and then #-5 in a fortnight, that'd be something.
For the past couple of weeks, I have had to deal with the depressing fact that Lana Del Rey only had one song in the top 50 in Australia, while LMFAO have 3. Likewise, she has only had 1 song in my top 10 for the past 4 months, which while it doesn't seem like much, is a big improvement over LMFAO's 0. But back to the original point, I recently learnt the news that she finally has 2 songs in the top 50 in Australia, which is all levels of awesome. This gets complimented over here, because she now has two songs in my top 10! Mind you, they couldn't be any lower in the top 10, but it's still an impressive feat.
In an act that will certainly disappoint ornithologists everywhere, for the first time since June last year, I have no Owls in my top 10. This however is not quite as distressing as the fact that I also have no Dinosaurs in my top 10 for the first time since 2 weeks ago. Speaking of animals, it seems like only a year and a half ago that Neon Trees spent a massive 1 week in the top 10 with "Animal". That's probably because it was a year and a half ago. Emulating, or even surpassing that success would be the goal, right? I'm not sure if it'd be fair since I'm pretty certain I still prefer "Animal", not that these kind of shenanigans have never happened before in my chart, but the point still stands that "Everybody Talks" is on its way, up 1 place to #13. That being said, it will need to hurry, as The Shins are riding a faster bullet to that goal, and are now just behind them with "Simple Song" at #14.
More rising songs! If you were to comment on my chart and commend it on rises, it'd be handy to take a selection from Graffiti6, The Big Pink, Sleigh Bells, Fun., Jay-Z & Kanye, Children Collide, or even M83, to pad out your comment. You could also comment on say, Yuksek, or Alpine, or Avicii rising, but then you'd be a liar, and you'd look like a fool, so please avoid doing that.
I took interest in checking my chart appearance streaks of late, which is when an artist is helped by a string of songs to always have at least 1 song in the chart for an extended period. Boy & Bear have the longest at the moment, they've been in for 65 straight weeks. Following straight after them was Rise Against on 54 weeks, and then Foster The People on 36 weeks. Inconvenient for those two, they just dropped out which sends their streaks back down to 0. Everyone's barely tolerated Owl is up to 35 weeks, and assumably will usurp Boy & Bear very soon as their only entry is down to #37.
NEW ENTRIES
Even though 2012 has been going for a while now, it always takes a while for music to catch up, and very few new releases are surfaced by this point. For the most part, this leads me to chart more average songs that I wouldn't chart otherwise later in the year, and then forget about them when I never bother to download them. This is a terrible way to introduce a new entry, but it'll have to prove me wrong. Ladyhawke debuts to the chart with "Black White & Blue" at #27, after I shunned her from my chart completely in 2008 for no real reason.
WA bands! My chart can't get enough of them, normally. Once upon a time, it boasted them as taking up more than half the chart, but now, in its darkest hour, I've had to spend a whole fortnight with none of them at all in the top 40. Luckily, San Cisco arrive on some sort of "Rocket Ship" to save the day, because that's the name of the song. I suppose they could have arrived by a more conventional and less cool method, but what would be the fun in that? In any case, they're #33.
I've recently been informed that old songs are awesome. This is subjective, mind you, as there are plenty of old songs that are certainly crap. This one fortunately isn't, though it took becoming old for me to realise this. Within the space of 24 hours, SBTRKT's "Wildfire", went from being some song I never noticed when it played on the radio, to some average song that had a widespread fanbase I didn't notice or understand, to a very cool song that I want to hear again right now as I'm typing this. It's also holding up the #39 position on my chart, which is pretty cool, though certainly not fitting, not that my chart vacates enough positions for that to be possible.
Also I don't think I'll ever write a commentary this long again, though I wouldn't be surprised if I did.
Two TRASH!y debuts, and one trashy debut. Not impressed
Cool to see Husky still on top, but The Black Keys would have been nice. Rises for Matt Corby, The Jezabels, the right Sleigh Bells song, Jay-West-Kan-Z-Ye-Carter-Shawn, M83 and Children Collide are nice. Shame for all three leavers, but especially Houdini.
As for the commentary, great stuff. Nice chart farm too, even if it seems a little unconventional
Yay for SBTRKT. Dude needs more love (even if he doesn't sing a bar on his album!).
Don't know your top 2 so imma need to recitfy that soon...
Glad to Fun. get some recognition, even if it is a glee song, and even if it needs Janelle Monae to get them name recognition, and even if their totally underrated 1st album Aim & Ignite is so much better, and contained 3 of my top 100 songs of 2009!
Haven't heard new Sleigh Bells yet either, which I need to fix, due to their first album being amazing, and having 3 of my top 100 songs of 2010!
Also can't believe that GROUPLOVE have spent 14 weeks between 40-30... what is your longest running, lowest peaking song?!

I do enjoy some random rambling commentary, the longer the better, and I approve of this. I also approve of the non-rise for Avicii and the lack of Old Man in the top ten, FINALLY!
Apparently I like the number one, I checked it out again last night and had a positive reaction, but I kind of already forget it. I still forget number two even more, so go Husky? Great to see Matt Corby and Lana Del Rey reaching the top ten, one of them would be a great chart-topper.
But I'm holding my hopes out for Sleigh Bells and "Comeback Kid". Saying I loved it right after I heard it might have been too quick, but I'm going to say it was a prediction, and I think I predicted quite correctly. I am thrilled about its massive jump this week, and I would not at all be against it making an even bigger jump next week. All the way to the top. Unless you're gonna re-enter STIUTK at #1, in which case, do that instead!
Also liking the jumps for Neon Trees, The Shins, The Big Pink, Graffiti6 and M83.
As far as the debuts go, both the Ladyhawke and San Cisco songs are decent, but not as good as previous efforts from those artists. I hope they can both grow on me. As for SBTRKT, it's not TRASH!, but I barely remember it and I don't even remember whether I liked it or not so I don't know whether I approve. I think I was meh on it.
Brother and The A Team are the only songs that I fully recognise as being able to listen to on a regular basis. Plenty of songs that I have no idea how they go or what their style is, so I'm going to pretend this week that they are all Screamo. LOL
Husky are still number one, but share some sympathy as they are still stuck in the woods. If they had a rocket ship, they could zoom out. But they don't have hands, and would struggle to steer and would probably hit the ground. With that plan, they'd be born to die. It's a shame it's not like in the video games where you can just cheat on the levels you don't like, and just do the ones that are simple. Song titles are fun and I feel better having explored this. If you don't like this, I'll have to shoot you in the back of your neck, bringing a sword to a gunfight in this instance won't help. That being said, everybody talks about how murdering people like that is bad, and more reminiscent of the devil's work, so even if you can shake it out, you'll be always on the run from the law. You can't seek refuge with anyone either, so you'd be a lonely boy who may consider moving to Mars to get away from it all. You'd need food too, perhaps some trycolour pasta? I hear it comes in black, white & blue these days. But it's pricey, not free at all.
Regardless of orientation, pirates are not as cool as ninjas. In Paris there probably won't be a reunion for The A Team, but you never know. It makes sense though, we are young, but they are not, and it's much cooler to be a comeback kid, but not much younger. Literally, baby infants are probably too young for a comeback. There are hypothetically a number of broken bottles of cough syrup on the floor, so it could be dangerous to walk around when there's no light. No light also indicates midnight; city dwellers best take note as this is the peak time for bed raiders. You best hope your brother is a wildfire that can deal with them. Yes, you could say that issue is so American so you don't need to worry, but I can see through you lies and apathetic faces, you know that you're born to lose. Trial Kennedy have two awesome songs called Living Undesigned & Exology.
NEW ENTRIES
I suppose I'm obliged by myself to still include this section. If you'd been paying attention to the previous section you probably could've spotted them anyway. But nonetheless, the highest debut comes from a band that I've never really paid attention to for no reason, and the song itself has had me pay little attention to it for several months until it finally sunk into me recently. The Horrors enter at #27 with "I Can See Through You". I'm sure one day I'll kick "Midnight City" out for good, but that's not important because M83 have/has another song higher up now, "Reunion" becomes their/his 2nd entry and it's in at #34. I thought it was gone for good last time, but my chart is sooooo dry at the moment that I can't find enough new songs to fill in the place. Also I found out that this song mixes surprisingly well with "Otis" & "Under Cover of Darkness". "Raiders" is back and I swear this is the last time, although I doubt I can guarantee that.
That commentary was pretty much unreadable, I actually didn't read it all because it was so weirdly disjointed, but I assume it still didn't offer much more actual information aside from the #1? I like rambling, but there's good rambling and there's bad rambling. Yours was more like crazy guy on the sidewalk or Nicki Minaj and Eminem in "Roman's Revenge" ranting. Those aren't the good kind.
I approve of Husky still leading Howler, but I hope Matt Corby can get there. He's my fave in the top five at the moment, but even nicer would be Born To Die. Or Comeback Kid. But not at the same time. Joint #1's are stupid and gross. Don't go there.
The entries are horrific for me this week. Two TRASH! debuts, which is always gross and yucky, and you've even found a way to ruin my love for random re-entries. Old Man!? Really? Ick. You could at least randomly re-enter STIUTK if you are struggling so much with your chart. That would have been a much better choice. I don't even mind Raiders, in fact I quite like it, but at the expense of poor Hannah I can't be happy about it. Perhaps Hannah feat. Grouplove could re-enter next week?
Nice jumps for Fun, San Cisco, The Big Pink and The Shins, as well as Lana Del Rey who I mentioned earlier. But it's awesomest to see Comeback Kid still flying right up quickly, I'd wonder if we were going to race to get it to #1, but I'm not sure I'm going that far with it yet and I don't want to half set a challenge I may not complete. But feel free to put it there. 11-1 is a nice jump. Just ask Colbie Caillat. Last edited:
Um.... go M83 (even if everyone knows his album tracks don't even come close to MC), and SBTRKT (even if that is one of my least favourites off the albums).
So, I still haven't heard that Husky song, but P.TM are better than the rest of that T5 from what I've heard, so, go P.TM for week #7!!!
Meanwhile, go check out Shearwater: 'You As You Were'... chart that!
"The Woods" has recently gained a film clip. Will this help it hold #1 for any longer? No, but it does anyway. Sadly, the whole top 5 is stuck for another week. I'd really like to switch them, but that would be dishonest for my opinion. Sleigh Bells & The Shins could potentially upset this though, they're both in the top 10 for the first time. The Horrors have the only other notable gain.
NEW ENTRIES
Think of four random words. Chances are, they'll be more cohesive together than "Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings", which debuts at #15. It comes from former Fleet Foxes drummer Father John Misty, and clearly satisfies all conditions for randomness. Speaking of random, mostly obscure Danish band with sorta weird name and a song that is difficult to remember from the title? Choir of Young Believers have the answer! They debut with "Patricia's Thirst" at #25. Hatres step back, because Australia's queen of misspelt ornithological indie pop has finally made the chart debut that has been destined for months. Gossling enters at #27 with "Wild Love", one place lower than "Raiders" debuted which I swear is gone for good this week. It took a while, but it had to happen, The Black Keys get a 3rd chart entry with "Gold On The Ceiling" at #36. Unlike "Lonely Boy", I'm pretty sure this won't get to #2 on the ARIA charts or my chart. And just managing to sneak in, Chairlift score a 2nd entry to date with "Met Before" at #40.
I'm getting into The Woods a little bit more now, interesting to see the entire top 5 stay the same. The bottom two entries are great, with Met Before the superior. I hope it stays in a little longer and eventually outpeaks Sidewalk Safari. I must hear the Father John Misty track as I am a Fleet Foxes fan, that being said I still haven't heard last year's album
Jumps for Fun., Sleigh Bells, Ladyhawke, The Horrors and M83 are cool, but I'm still adamant that the wrong SBTRKT is in
I've never charted a Danish artist, but I think Germany, Italy, Spain and France have all received entries. Oh, and let's not forget Sweden.
Shame to see Sword To A Gunfight, The A Team and Raiders leave, even though Raiders had it coming
Also, apologies for not commenting last week, I did read the fantabulous commentary and I saw the chart, I just never commented.
Shame the top five couldn't change up, I'd almost prefer those five in exactly the reverse order, bar what are currently the top two. Hopefully Matt Corby can move up next week, but I more hope that Sleigh Bells can shake things up. And I hope Born To Die isn't done yet.
I don't really have many jumps I'm happy about to comment on, but good to see The Big Pink and Fun creeping up.
I love the randomness of the titles of the highest two debuts, the highest is particularly cool. I see Gossling finally debuts, Jess and Lisa will obviously be entering any week now with their solo smash hits? I've heard the bottom two debuts, but I don't remember which Black Keys song that is, and I barely remember anything about the Chairlift song, though I think I may have thought it decent.
Still hoping that Matt Corby has some steam left to jump up to #1, just so I can say that I have charted your #1 on my personal chart.
Still lots of songs that I have no idea what they are, although over the weekend I saw a Sleigh Bells song and I must say they are a lot more pop than the death metal I thought they might have been LOL
Good to see Fun. make a slight move up and wodnerful to see Lana move down.
This week I've decided all those acts I know next to nothing about perform music that beliongs to the Tejano genre.
Husky are still #1, for a 5th week! Howler are still #2, for a 4th week! How boring, but fortunately they're the only non-movers in the chart this week, as if I woke up due to this chart needing a shake up. The movers that do this? Why it's Sleigh Bells & The Shins, who both enter the top 5 for the first time. Matt Corby rose too, but he was in the top 5 last week, so who cares? There's more movement lower too, Father John Misty handily rises straight into the top 10 from debuting last week, and The Horrors make an equal jump, but lower and therefore less impressive. I thought Neon Trees had peaked a few weeks ago, but no, they're up a little, and Video Games is finally out of the top 10. Fun. & Choir of Young Believers jump strongly, but they're not in the top 10, and anything not there is obviously yucky. My commentary has been very limited this week, I swear it's not because I'm writing this in a hurry, having put it off. Ladyhawke, Gossling, San Cisco, M83, Avicii, The Black Keys & Chairlift defy the hatres they may or may not have, and reach new peaks. Done!
NEW ENTRIES
I considered charting this earlier this week, and was probably going to, but then I heard it on the radio and that sealed the deal, Shearwater debut with "You As You Were" at #27. As a side note, the Subpop label are dominating my chart at the moment, and I believe you can find this song, along with "The Woods" & "Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings" there, for free, yay! I considered charting this earlier this week, and was probably going to, but then iTunes decided to place it as the free single of the week despite being on the chart and potentially hampered by this decision, in any case, it's helped me like it more as I wasn't going to pay full price for it, Emeli Sande debuts with "Next To Me" at #30. Is it a single? Do I care? I don't know the answer to the first question, but the 2nd is affirmedly a no. Grouplove score their 4th chart entry to date with "Love Will Save Your Soul" at #37.
I find Emeli Sande quite dull, but aside from that, Wildfire and Levels, I like every song in your chart. Cool rises for Father John Misty, Lana Del Rey, M83, Fun., Sleigh Bells and The Black Keys. Awesome to see Husky still on top. Also, I can't believe I Feel Better held on that long in your chart
Nice to see Florence and Ladyhawke charting, but the best news is seeing Lana Del Rey up 1 to #9... hope Born To Die can be half as successful as Video Games was for you.

The top two needs a clearout, because the two right after that are all sorts of amazing and need to dominate the top two for some time to come. Seriously, it'll be weird if I peak either or both of Brother and Comeback Kid higher than you do, so make it not happen!
I think I previewed Emeli Sande when I saw it as the free single, but I didn't even care enough to listen to the whole 90 seconds, so yeah, I didn't download it, and I do not support its debut which I find weird. Lana is the Adele of 2012, not Emeli. Emeli can't even spell her name correctly.
I also don't care enough about The Woods or Random Word Salad to go get them for free, so hopefully the altogether TRASH! debut is decent enough that I might go get it. I do, however, support the Grouplove entry. Go Hannah! <3333333
3 months isn't too late to debut a song for me, so as long as you were on the ball, I might debut something from your chartin the next couple of weeks that I should have tried more to like at the time. And it's not Levels, which, ewwwwwww, yuck peak. Nice jumps for Sleigh Bells, Matt Corby, Lana Del Rey, Neon Trees, Fun and Black Keys.
A change at #1? Who needs that? Sure, I've had only 1 new song at #1 so far this year, but I swear it's really, really good. Though I guess Sleigh Bells are a chance with their massive comeback single which came a whole month after their previous single! Mind you, this is dwarfed somewhat by The Shins' 5 years, but their song doesn't have 'Comeback' in the title. Father John Misty's song might, I haven't quite made it to the end of the title yet so I'm not sure. Nonetheless it's in the top 5 now. Grouplove also rise a lot and overall I think this chart is finally nearly flushed out for old and irrelevant songs I don't even listen to anymore.
NEW ENTRIES
It's a week for oldish songs that I never gave a chance until now. The highest fuels the ever growing niche for garage rock in my chart, which sits nicely among the folk rock, baroque pop, shoegaze, noise pop and whatever the hell Portugal. The Man do. Black Lips debut to the chart with the song I thought was by Howler briefly, "Family Tree" at #18. This one's just as old, but it's also Australian and I need more of it in my chart, so Oliver Tank debuts at #26 with "Embrace". Oh, this one's actually new, and I almost charted it last week. Miike Snow score their 3rd entry to date with "Paddling Out" at #31. And finally after near missing my chart a couple times beforehand, You Me At Six hit my chart. If this came out 5 years ago, and I had a chart then, this probably would've been an instant top 5 hit, but for now they have to settle with #38 for "Bite My Tongue".
I sincerely doubt I would ever give The Woods six weeks on top, but then again I'm usually clueless about the future of my own chart. It is very nice to see it stay on top, I prefer it over anything in the top ten, but I think I like Born To Die more, but since that's probably not going up anymore, go Husky! That being said, Sleigh Bells would be a solid number one, as would Father John Misty. I do like Simple Song and I Can See Through You, but I don't quite think they're worthy of such a top honour. I mean, despite that weird period in between Undercover Martyn and Crossfire, as well as Bright Lights Bigger City itself, all of your number ones that I've heard are worthy of #1. I think.
Excellent rise for Choir Of Young Believers. I can't recall if it has backing vocals or not, but I think it does, but in any case, a choir of two people who happen to be 'Young Believers' perhaps implies that believing is an elderly pastime. In which case, Owl Eyes believed that a random rise was in order but it wasn't, because Faces moved down a spot. I also approve of the rises for Fun., Ladyhawke, M83 and Gossling. But not Emily Sandy.
I also don't approve of Grouplove rising. It's a decent song, but it's no Tongue Tied, and to think that it's got a higher peak than Tongue Tied had is preposterous. Plus, it's above Met Before at 36. And, because it's obvious, it's a shame Steam couldn't chart but I know it's at 41. Therefore, that implies that LWSYS is better than Steam and everyone know it's not.
As for the entries, Family Tree was fine but the others I am yet to hear. At least it's the highest one. Even if I had made no previous observation of it, I'm struggling to accept that an entry made at #26 is a coincidence. Did The Big Pink send you a nasty email or something?
Shame to see Yukky and Trialy down the bottom, but I wouldn't mind seeing Born To Lose, especially given that it already accepts that it's not going to achieve anything. Plus it's a downright mess of a song. Chairlift better not fall next week! Additionally, of all the You Me At Six songs I've heard, I'm yet to be impressed by any; also, their LAV of Paradise on the J's this week sounded quite mediocre. Even though I haven't heard 'Bite My Tongue', I'd be pleased to see it leave anyway. Plus their name sounds durrrty.
Sleigh Bells for #1 next week. It's been a long long time since we've had a common #1, and that seems like a rather out there option to join that group, so I hope it can happen. Husky has had a good run anyway, I mean, one more week and it beats Faces! That can't be allowed. Sad to see Matt back out of the top five.
Excellent jump for Hannah, even if she doesn't perform quite as amazingly on this track as she did on Tongue Tied. But I shouldn't expect that, after all it's impossible to top perfection. Also nice to see Fun closing in on the top ten.
I've already listened to all the debuts, and they're all decent but unspectacular, except for the one I'd expect to like most based on the artist, but it's ruined by a crappy featuring credit. Not that the rest was very good either. I think. From memory. I think I'd say Miike Snow was the best of the four.
It almost happened, I almost got a new #1, but Husky have been just too strong and thus remain at #1 for a 7th week, which is the longest run in over 3 years. This means that Sleigh Bells are stuck at #2 for a 2nd week, which follows on from the last 8 weeks of #2 being #2 peakers, but perhaps they can break this trend, either by dropping soon, or by rising to #1. Alternatively, maybe Father John Misty can get there, he's up two places to #3. Just like a couple of weeks back, The Horrors have copied him by making the same rise, but lower and thus less impressive. Choir Of Young Believers actually have a decent rise in the top 10 though, they're up three places to #7. But there aren't only random songs that no one cares about, because Fun. have hit the top 10 with their song that is bizarrely ridiculously popular.
Hatres will continue hatring, as Gossling now has the highest Australian ornithological indie pop song in the chart, unless Ladyhawke counts as Australian, ooh controversy. Grouplove say love a lot of times, but not so much group sadly, which is probably what holds them at a mere #22 this week. A gain nonetheless, but it could've been better. Miike Snow also rise and I've run out of things to say.

This week's theme is artists I didn't expect to be charting. So, 2010 one hit wonder whose song I should've charted but didn't? Check. Except now I think that this is better than that particular hit, so Adrian Lux gets a big entry with "Alive" at #17, a song I could just as easily hate, but instead really like. At the start of the week, I didn't think I would be charting this artist. When I first heard it, I misheard the title as a similarly titled Florence + The Machine song, and heard the actual song as another Florence + The Machine song. In my defence, I was asleep at the time. "Rabbit Hole" is apparently not a single, and the real single is probably coming out in a couple of weeks, but it was too good to exclude, so The Temper Trap are back with their 4th chart hit at #23. I don't have too many chart topping one hit wonders. I count 7, 2 of which are the last 2 #1 artists in Husky & Portugal. The Man. Nonetheless, this was one that I didn't expect to be broken, but White Rabbits have done it and scored their 2nd hit in "Temporary" at #33. I don't know what to say about this. I never thought I'd chart him, but I also never thought he'd be looking at a top 10 hit in Australia O.O Hatres will once again continue their hatring, but Skrillex finally hits the chart at #40 with "Bangarang", though I maintain that Scary Monsters, First of the Year & All I Ask Of You are all better. Also I feel terrible about it and it probably won't last.
Awesome to see fun. rise and crack the Top ten. Pity to see Matt Corby trip and fall 2 spots. He is the highest act that I actually know what the song songs like.
Great to see Lana Del Rey slowly boring herself down your chart.
Still think Sleigh Bells sounds like a name given to a death metal band.
There are no shock entries into your charts, but I am amazed at how many of your songs come from the Zydeco genre of music.
Great to see Fun rising, but a shame to see Avicii and Emeli Sande stalling. I don't quite understand the appeal of Bangarang, but there are (slightly) worse songs out there
Sad to see Afircan-Americans in Paris almost out, but equally sad is that Levels doesn't have the same middling peak on your chart than it does on ARIA.
Happy to see We Are Young hit the T10, but hopefully they release Some Nights next, so that it can be a #1 hit on your chart
More yay for Shearwater, Miike Snow, and i think will go find that Lux song now... . . . . Okay, that Adrian Lux song is wicked!!!
Shame to see Sleigh Bells still not take the top spot. I'm not going to start hatring on Husky though, instead I can celebrate a seventh week beating the six weeks of Old Man, bahahaha! But seven is enough, go Comeback Kid for next week, please not Word Salad Title.
Great to see Fun in the top ten, hopefully that can continue to rise. Also liking the jumps for Hannah and Miike Snow.
Did the world need another Adrian Lux song? I changed my mind on Teenage Crime about twenty times, but at the moment I think I like it. I guess I should go into this one with an open mind. Nice to see a Temper Trap debut, even though I haven't heard it. I expect to like it, but since it's not a single I won't be charting it, or really caring too much about it. I have nothing to say about the White Rabbits debut, at least until I hear it. I do approve of the Bangarang debut though, it seemed as though you've been wanting to enter it for a while, and I'm glad it finally did. But I hope it doesn't drop straight out like poor Bukkie did, that'd be lame and pointless, and pretty much confirm that you only make these sorts of debuts for attention. :p And why would you feel terrible about it? Bangarang is actually pretty cool. And the clip is good too.

I did need a new #1, and now being 12 weeks into the new year, I have my 2nd new #1 for the year, and 67th overall. So after months of folksy jams, Sleigh Bells blast into the top spot with noise, noise and more noise! As this is not the Australian airplay chart, there can only be one #1 at a time. The more astute would immediately realise that this means that Husky are no longer #1, and they would be correct. They have to settle for #2, but everyone knows that 2nd's the best anyway. Incidentally, there are another 38 songs also on the chart, but they're even lower than Husky and don't have half a rhyme to back them up. Although, The Horrors do have a handy rise within the top 5, a massive, wait for it, one place! Choir Of Young Believers do a good job of boasting their youth, which is probably what helps them rise again this week, now at #6. Fun. do the same thing and also rise. It'd be a stretch to put an age pun in there, but Black Lips jump into the top 10 with "Family Tree".
Pretty much the only other notable risers are within the top 20. Adrian Lux teams up with a woman who looks like, and therefore sounds like Kimbra, and rises 4 places to #13. Gossling neither looks or sounds like Kimbra, but manages to combat the theory that it is a necessary component to success, by also rising the same amount. The Temper Trap rise to score their 4th top 20 hit, though they've only had 4 charters so it's not all that interesting. They could potentially have their 4th top 10 hit soon, but then that's still the same thing. On the other hand, Grouplove have managed to have their fair share of non-massive hits, so "Love Will Save Your Soul" rises to become their 2nd highest charting hit at #18. It'll be a tough ask for them to outrank "Colours"' #1 peak, but perhaps love will do it for them. Now that I own "Reunion", I no longer forget how it goes, and that helps it crack the top 20 at #19.

This week sees the return of two big Australian chart favourites. The first being chart veterans of sorts who had a string of hits from 2008-2010, but missed a year last year thus ruining any sort of cool streak. Numbers Radio score their 5th chart entry with "Tokyo" at #28. Next is a band that have sadly been absent from my chart for over 2 months, despite me possibly being their biggest fan, if last.fm stats are anything to go by. I've got a knack for unintentionally stumbling on their newly released singles, and of course, they still have such an awesome name. Kitchen Knife Wife are back with a 3rd single, "Carob Nights" at #29. I first heard of the next artist a few weeks ago, I didn't know who or what they were, but they were charting extraordinarily high, and like any other normal person, I'm disgusted at the success of artists I haven't heard of, a frustration that dates back to some unknown artist that went and won the best male ARIA in 2007. I'd never heard of them then and I'm pretty sure they've since disappeared off the map completely. However on the other side of things I actually did end up hearing a song by this artist and I liked it, so Passenger enter at #34 with "Let Her Go". Even though he's had another single unexpectantly bullet up the chart in the past week, I've decided to do the sensible thing and chart a different song! It's not like I had a choice, I'm pretty sure his cat would've tried to claw my face if I hadn't, so Ed Sheeran is back with 2nd entry "Drunk" at #37.
Awesome to see Sleigh Bells take the top spot, finally we have a common #1 since STIUTK, but is it at the same time? No. It's not. I'm still very happy you put it there though, hopefully it can hold off the challengers. Nice jumps for Fun, Temper Trap (Rabbit Hold was really good and I would have been good with it as a single), Grouplove, Miike Snow, Emeli Sande and Skrillex.
I am loving the debut for Ed Sheeran, I don't think I was really expecting him to make a second appearance on your chart, at least not with anything from this album, so it's a very nice surprise and I hope it goes places. Good ones. The Passenger song seems decent from the previews and I've been constantly intending to hear it but never doing so, so it's good that I now kind of am obligated to. By June. I have no idea who Numbers Radio are when they're at home, and not even so much when they're out, and I don't know what to expect from their debut, except that it's probably not silent. Lastly, Knifey Wifey entering is always a good thing, maybe I'll actually like this one enough to chart it, as opposed to considering it one week then never really listening to it again.
What? This song has been #1 for 7 weeks? Wow I haven't commented for ages!
First of all, DRUNK! Hooray, and absolutely not expected. Awesome to see Levels still in after so long. Go Fun and the longevity for Video Games and Faces is great! I'm still unsure whether I should chart Bangarang or not
Great to see Emeli Sande & Fun rising. I am warming to Bangarang, so I guess it is ok that it is rising a little A few of my other favs are down (Avicii, Lana Del Rey & Matt Corby), but they have all had ok runs.
Comeback Kid hasn't really grown on me all that much since I debuted it, and I still think The Woods is much better. Cool rise for Fun. and the bottom two entries are great, I'll get around to listening to Numbers Radio and Knifey eventually. Nice rises for Skrillex , White Rabbits, M83, Choir Of Young Believers, Gossling and underwhelming Grouplove song. And the awfully disappointing Adrian Lux song needs to stop. Oh no, Chairlift are out
Yay to the debut for Drunk!!! Woohoo! Nice to see Cough Syrup holding on! I'm in love with it at the moment. Also good to see We Are Young still moving up.
And now in an attempt to catch up to my quota of #1s for the year, another new #1! Father John Misty rises to #1 with "Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings", for those of you keeping count, this is a first for all of these words at #1. Husky maintain their #2 placement, and The Horrors score yet another new peak, which pushes last week's #1 "Comeback Kid" all the way down to #4! Rounding out the top 5, The Shins rise back up, but not to a new peak, possibly due to the awesomeness of the album that it's contained on, primarily the portion of the album that the song in question takes up. I like the song. The Black Lips continue to rise, now up three places to #9. A few more songs don't rise and thus are arguably filler within the top 10. To round it out, Gossling rises 4 places to #10, possibly because the film clip has a twist at the end, and that's what it takes to be a hit these days!
The Temper Trap just fall short of the top 10 this week, but make a handy rise of 5 places. The proper single finally did come out, but wasn't good enough to chart this week, and probably won't interrupt "Rabbit Hole"'s run. Adrian Lux also makes a tiny rise to approach the top 10, Grouplove & M83 continue to rise because there isn't enough 2012 music so I'm still hanging onto them. Miike Snow score their 3rd top 20 hit.
NEW ENTRIES
Only one new entry, and not much to say about it except that it's charting on ARIA! Regina Spektor makes a debut to the chart with "All The Rowboats" at #32. And because I couldn't fill out the chart or something, The Black Keys are back with "Gold On The Ceiling" at #39, hey, at least it wasn't "Raiders" this time.
Not really a fan of the #1 changeover, but at least Sleigh Bells got one week in there. Nice to see The Shins rebounding, I'm enjoying their album too. Aside from that, all the best songs in the top ten are filler or falling. Gossling's song doesn't interest me, and I don't recall any twist at the end of the video, however leaving twists aside, ridiculously catchy and fun pop songs will ALWAYS be a hit, twist or no twist.
Nice jumps for Temper Trap, M83, Grouplove and Miike Snow, but especially nice to see Ed Sheeran rising. And Bangarang being above Levels.
Good to see Black Keys back in, but I'm not sure if I needed another Regina Spektor song. I'll give it a chance, but Fidelity might be all I ever need from her.
I hope Fun haven't peaked... it deserves higher! As does Emeli Sande, but I think her ship may have sailed. Considering you have two Lana Del Rey tracks in your chart, I hope Blue Jeans can debut soon as well.
There is very little change at the top of the chart this week. The whole top 3 remains the same infact. There is change a little lower though, as Black Lips move into the top 5 at #4, and then The Shins hold at #5 to round out the top 5. There is news in the top 10 though, as The Temper Trap score their 4th top 10 hit with "Rabbit Hole".
Grouplove continue to climb with "Love Will Save Your Soul" up a few more places, Miike Snow match the peak of previous single "Devil's Work", with "Paddling Out" up to #15. Adrian Lux, M83 & Numbers Radio limp up a place and Kitchen Knife Wife consolidate with what is arguably set to be their 2nd biggest hit up 3 places. Also Passenger rises with what is certainly their biggest hit yet. Regina Spektor & Ed Sheeran also make minor gains.
NEW ENTRIES
This week sees the 'return' of two female artists who have violated my chart in horrible ways over the past 6 and 9 months respectively. In doing so, they've picked up more hatres than I would have expected when they first started charting. The first one is of course Lana Del Rey, who first debuted with "Video Games" half a year ago. "Blue Jeans" was the B-side to it and I didn't really like it at the time, but it really grew on me when I heard it on the album, and now it's a single. It debuts at #17 to keep her consistent top 20 streak up. The 2nd one? Owl Eyes of course, and for the first time in ages, it's a relevant song. It's so relevant that it hasn't even been released yet! "Crystalised" becomes her 3rd charter and is in at #20. Fascinatingly, this is approximately the 6th time that I've charted two songs with the same name, and it doubles as interesting as it's a very obtuse word for that honour. Unlike the previous entries, this is arguably a genuine comeback. Sorry to Simian Mobile Disco, Santigold or even AFI as it's not your turn to break one hit wonder status. Instead, that honour goes to Closure In Moscow, who hit the chart for the first time in nearly three years. "The Impeccable Beast" is in at #31. Another return, but more recent. Arctic Monkeys have featured on the chart through every calendar year since 2009, but it's been long since they've scored a genuine hit. "R U Mine?" attempts to do this by entering at #35 to become their 4th chart entry. The Temper Trap just scored their 4th top 10 hit, from 4 chart entries (just randomly, "Down River" was a persistent bubbler back in 2009 that didn't make it), but now they've gone and ruined it by charting again, with "Need Your Love" at #36. And finally, an artist I charted two weeks ago because I got into that song and didn't expect to be top 10 bound on ARIA with another song. Nonetheless, that song finally grew on me and here it is. Ed Sheeran is in with a 3rd entry "Lego House" at #39.
I haven't heard all your #1s, but the only three that I don't really enjoy all that much are 'Bright Lights Bigger City', 'The Suburbs' and fittingly 'Watercolour'. I even gave BLBC 2 stars. And you know what? BLBC is in comparison a masterpiece next to your new number one. This is the definition of the slang 'idgi'. Even though I didn't like Bangarang at first, it grew on me to some extent; this WILL NOT do the same. Trust me, I hate this and that will never change. I'd much prefer Misty on top; in fact, this is possibly the worst song you have ever charted, even worse than All of the Lights. And after so many amazing songs hit #1 last year, it makes me a sad sad duck. Very sad. You do realise you're making a duck sad. I'm proud to be a hatre, and the only way you could ever redeem yourself is by charting either Boy or Deep Sea Arcade. Maybe 'Drive Darling', 'Steam' or a DSA album track? Anything please, because this is utterly confusing in the most horrific way possible. I'm done hatring. For now.
With that out of the way, Nice to see Miike Snow, Grouplove, Knifey, Sheery, Tempy and Passengy all up. I'm sad that Choir of Young Believers are Coles commercial, and probably staying that way. I suppose it's my responsibility to put it to #1, le sigh. I never really got into Trycolour that much, I just found it fine, so I suppose if anything's going to fall by 7 places or more, I'm happy that that song did. But even then, Born To Die did as well so whatever.
As for the entries, of course Internet Friends is what it is, Blue Jeans is cool, Crystalised is great on first listen, The Impeccable Beast was fine, R U Mine? is simply amazing and the fact that it's lower than Knife Party may just be the biggest atrocity of all, Need Your Love is nice enough, and Lego House is great. The week I debuted 'Waitress', it was the lowest of 15 entries that week at #97. Scaling things down to a top 40, 7 entries is by comparison very similar, in which case Lego House would probably be #1 in two weeks. But I'd rather R U Mine? do it instead.
None of the leavers sadden me too much, I loved 'Cough Syrup' not long ago but it's had its time. The return for 'Gold On The Ceiling' being cut too short is a bit sad. Considering your ridiculous obsession, I'm surprised 'Bangarang' fell 8 spots to leave like that; but even still, I want to establish a 'Dubstep Anonymous' just for you to attend.
I'll just brace myself for Labrinth to enter at #1 next week.
Great to see Rabbit Hole hit the top ten and Lana Del Rey be the highest debut this week! Also good to see Ed Sheeran make the chart, although I hope he can go up with both of his tracks.
So I'm assuming I missed an April Fool's chart? By the sounds it was the same as this except Internet Friends was a #1 debut pushing everything else down one? I feel fairly confident that I would not have fallen for it, I was rather aware of the date and the potential for fooling this year. You might have got me, depending on how you wrote it into your commentary. But probably not.
The top of the chart is boring except for Rabbit Hole making the top ten, yay, so I'll skip straight to the best thing which is Lego House making a very surprising and welcome debut. Hopefully it goes very well. Also pleased about the debuts for Lana Del Rey, Arctic Monkeys and Temper Trap. It's weird seeing you with this many debuts. Boo-urns for more Old Man, but I guess if it's relevant....... Imagine if when I de-TRASH! it I absolutely love it. That'd be weird. I'd still probably have to not chart it.
Aside from Temper Trap, nice jumps for Grouplove, Miike Snow, Regina Spektor and Ed Sheeran. You should debut the Florence and Django Django songs. How do you expect me to acknowledge something I am not shown?
Oh no! Fun are going the wrong way Great to see Lana Del Rey debut strongly, as well as solid debuts for Ed Sheeran and The Temper Trap. I hope all of those tracks can improve their positions next week.
The title of the song has 4 words, so it's only fitting that it lasts a 3rd week at #1. Perhaps it'll end on 3 though, Black Lips make a challenge, up 2 places to #2, finally ending Husky's 10 week run in the top 2. The Temper Trap also rise to score their 3rd top 5 hit with "Rabbit Hole". "Need Your Love" also rises, but it's way down at #34, so not very noteworthy. Notably catchy song "Wild Love" also rises, up 3 places to #10. Adrian Lux also finally reaches the top 10 after a relatively slow climb.
Grouplove claim that "Love Will Save Your Soul", but can we really trust them on that, and what of Group? Nonetheless, they climb another spot to #12. Despite not being as cool as a llama, Lana Del Rey makes a handy rise, up 4 places. Miike Snow score their 2nd highest charting hit outright with "Paddling Out", much to Jasper's chagrin. Off the back of both having conveniently supported The Wombats on tour at some point, Owl Eyes & Kitchen Knife Wife both make strong rises in the top 20. As I continue to ambiguously refer to Passenger as neither a solo artist or a band, they rise into the top 20 with "Let Her Go". Numbers Radio nearly hit the top 20, they're not arsonists. Closure In Moscow & Regina Spektor rise with their interestingly titled songs, and Ed Sheeran & Arctic Monkeys rise with their sillily titled songs.
NEW ENTRIES
I didn't even consider charting this before. It has since amazingly become a top 20 hit in Australia, and I couldn't let that slip past me. Florence + The Machine score their 4th entry to date with "Never Let Me Go" at #28. As always, I tend to ignore the hyped up new artists for at least long enough that their songs are too old for me to chart, that I have to wait for the next album to give them any love. This is another such case, so Beach House score their first chart entry with "Myth" at #33. It also doubles as one of those songs that I never paid attention to for ages so once I finally gave it a proper listen, it was so recognisable that I loved it immediately.
Brilliant to see Father John Misty still on top. I actually really like it now. I forget how Family Tree goes, so I hope Misty stays on top. Nice rises for Owl Eyes, Ed Sheeran, ARCTIC MONKEYS!, Knifey and Grouplovey. Shame to lose Skrillex, why couldn't it be Avicii?!?!
Also sad to see Choir Of Young Believers fall again, it seems once I started charting it, it's fallen [/correlation?] In fact, I think that's similar for Shearwater too. As for the entries, I like Florence and haven't heard of the other, but it sounds like something I could get into just by the artist and song titles, so yay. At least it's higher than my two most hatred songs on here, Next To Me and Levels.
I hope Rumine continues to rise, as I feel kinda being the only person on the site to be charting it so high
I was worried you'd seriously debut Internet Friends this week actually.
I think I preferred Family Tree so I guess I'm hoping for that to hit the top next week. Or Lego House could rise 36 places. Either way. Or even go Temper Trap. It's sad The Shins don't have a chance.
Nice jumps for Grouplove, Lana, Miike Snow, Regina, Ed, Arctic, Temper Trap and Ed again. That's a lot of rises I am pleased with. I think your chart is on an upswing for me again. Yay. Cool that Faces is decently falling too. Crystalised is good for something!
I approve of the Florence debut, but it's amusing that you're only doing so because ARIA told you to. Not really, I know, but it's funny that that is what made you realise it was chart-worthy. What's next? SAIKI? I feel like I've heard some Beach House music before, but I'm not sure if I have, or what it would be, but it's probably not that song, and I don't remember anything if I did hear it. That's my long way of calling Myth TRASH! Hopefully it's decent when it gets clean.
Great to see The Temper Trap into the top 5, I'm also liking the rises for Grouplove, Lana Del Rey, Regina Spektor, Ed Sheeran, The Temper Trap & Ed Sheeran, Nice debut for Florence.
Excellent to see Florence + The Machine debut and Drunk move up. Wow Video Games has been around for ages! Nice to see three of her tracks in the chart though.
The Black Keys recently were stuck with a #2 peak, so why should the Black Lips suffer the same treatment? Possibly because the song wasn't considered quite good enough to get there, so essentially that's what's happened and they're down to #3. Sorry to anyone who reads this part first (does anyone?) if they were deceived by the first sentence. On the other hand, it was exactly 3 years ago that The Temper Trap were finishing their run at #1 with "Science of Fear", a song that a lot of people don't acknowledge as a single because it didn't hit the charts (besides the Hitseeker chart, but everything makes that!). I'm pretty sure the record company is refusing to accept this as a single though, but that hasn't stopped me before, so The Temper Trap score their 2nd #1 on this chart with "Rabbit Hole" up from #4. The most important thing to mention is that it's the chart's 69th number one, and what a fitting choice it was! It's also the 2nd #1 I've had this year that reminds me of Radiohead which may explain why I like them so much. The other one being "The Woods" which is down to #4 this week. Unsurprisingly, as Father John Misty drops from #1, and #3 & #4 have already been revealed, it comes at no shock that he's #2 this week. Gossling has also exceeded my initial expectations, "Wild Love" is up two places to #5 now. Adrian Lux makes the same sized jump with "Alive" up to #8. Following this, we have two artists both hitting the top 10 for a 3rd time, first Lana Del Rey with "Blue Jeans" at #9, then Owl Eyes with "Crystalised" at #10. This is surely frustrating for Howler who are stuck at #11 for a second week in a row.
I'm probably nearly their biggest fan by now, all because I happened to have been listening to the radio briefly one night at just the right time to first hear from them. That was "Happy", which is their biggest hit on the chart thus far, but perhaps "Carob Nights" can match it, it's up 3 places to #16. Numbers Radio on the other hand, have had plenty of hits which went much higher, so they'll have trouble matching them, nonetheless, "Tokyo" is up 3 places to #18. Closure In Moscow have similar issues, and this entry still merely lives in the shadow of their first, but that doesn't mean it can't still be good as well! "The Impeccable Beast" is up 3 places to #22. Florence + The Machine's success on this chart has been limited, but nonetheless, on they go with "Never Let Me Go" up 4 places to #24. Arctic Monkeys make the biggest jump of the week, up 6 places to #25 with "R U Mine?". One Ed Sheeran song is up, whereas the other is stuck in a tough chart this week. If I mention Beach House, I've rounded out all the new peaks this week, and I've just done that so yay!

I was a little disappointed at first because I wasn't big on this song at first and I'd also be disappointed that I couldn't continue to chart them. Nonetheless, after setting it aside for a while and them coming back to it, wow! Silversun Pickups score their 4th entry to date with "Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings)" in at #19. I've charted plenty of collaborations between artists lately, most recently Jay-Z & Kanye West's heartfelt ballad about ludicrous basketball abilities. To my immediate knowledge, I've never had a proper collaboration between 3 artists (featuring appearances don't count in this case), and such a bizarre one it is at that. With thanks to a certain shoe company, Mark Foster, A-Trak & Kimbra get together for "Warrior" which is in at #32. Although they sadly just missed out on hitting the national charts a little while back, Australia's latest supergroup Twinsy can have solace in that they've cracked this chart. "Water Bombs" is in at #38. Also just sneaking in at #40, Django Django chart with the oh so catchy "Default".
Hehehe to you having your 69th #1 on this chart. I don't have anything else to say as I usually only comment once a fortnight to allow more songs from a certain genre to enter, but I though yor 69ing needed to be commented on.
Great rise for Rabbit Hole to #1! Although I like Need Your Love more, both of these songs are good! Cool to see Drunk move up and I will need to check out Warrior based on who's involved. I'm glad Next To Me is holding on, good stuff!
One week at #1 is ridiculous and devalues the whole point of it (sorry Sleigh Bells), so let's make it 2 weeks for "Rabbit Hole". I always get in this awkward position where I can't move enough songs to the top of my chart, which means that "Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings" & "Family Tree" hold up at #2 & #3 again. Gossling somehow maintains as the #1 aviary artist, and even rises amonst the rest, one place to #4 in fact. However this may soon be under threat as Owl Eyes makes another jump, up four places to #4. The whole chart is actually seeing an increased female presense (ignoring the fact that two dropped out for one this week ), and Lana Del Rey also rises, up two places to #7. The top 10 remains the same as last week though, and Howler are at #11 for a third week in a row.
Could the top 10 be shaken though? Kitchen Knife Wife have been there before, so they have enough experience, and even enough of a bullet, "Carob Nights" is #12. However the biggest jump of the week goes to the Arctic Monkeys, "R U Mine?" soars up 12 places to #13. Silversun Pickups make a handy rise of four places as well. Closure In Moscow score their 2nd ever top 20 hit, and Florence/Machine score their 4th. Beach House, Regina Spektor, Mark Foster, Ed Sheeran, Kimbra, The Temper Trap & A-Trak all rise as well. This commentary was so boring this week.

It can be annoying to find out what the new single is sometimes, I'm still not convinced in fact, despite the fact that it has a video. However, "The Rifle's Spiral" was my immediate standout from The Shins' new album, so it enters at #23. For silly reasons including the inability to figure out how to chart it, I never charted Mr. Little Jeans' cover of "The Suburbs", though I still love it greatly. However I found no reason not to chart this, and iTunes awesomely is giving it away for free, so Mr. Little Jeans belatedly debuts to the chart with "Runaway" at #35. Also worth noting that I'm now currently charting artists from Norway, Sweden & Denmark. Finland, pick up the slack kthx. When bands have massive success, there's a tendency to re-release older singles to lazily cash in. I've essentially done this on my chart and decided that I'm going to chart "Got It All (This Can't Be Living Now)" by Portugal. The Man, despite having known it longer than their massive #1 hit "So American". Nonetheless, it's in at #38.
Shame to see Emeli out, but rises for Ed Sheeran, Florence and The Temper Tramp help ease the pain I have come to terms with the fact that We Are Young is on the way out, I just hope it has a slow descent.
Come oooooooooooooooooon Arctic Monkeys! I'd prefer Misty on top than TTT tbh, but still fine. I'd prefer Owl Eyes to beat Gossling though. Rises are good for Twinsy and for Fostetrakimbra too. You should also check this awesome chart where that Portugal. The Man song debuted more than three months ago, you may have also heard of it

For me, there is more action happening in the exits list, as four out of the five are all songs that I like, but they have all had solid runs. Anywho, I am pleased to see Lana Del Rey inch higher, plus a decent rises for Florence and Ed. Nice to see Gold On The Ceiling re-entry, plus some Chairlift love.
Still a good #1, Nice to see Lana make that little gain (I hope she doesn't stall there), Cool rises aswell for Florence, Ed & The Temper Trap, Good debut for Ladyhawke.
Come on Owlised! I'd prefer Crystal Eyes at #1 than TTT, but they're all cool. I'm pretty sure I've heard that Ladyhawke one at some point, but I need another listen. Chairlift are just too cool, you can pretty much count on me liking IBIYA. Noooooooooo, Faces is gone so you can't troll BZ anymoar [/not to worry, it'll be back soon anyways]
Still though, rises for Fostertrakimbra, ARCTIC MUNKAYSSSSSSSSZZZSZSS!!!! <33333, Regina Spektor and Ed Sheeran are all fine.
Forget Owlised, Temper Trap whatever... Rumine needs to be the new #1!
The xx have a fantastic song called "Crystalised" that I truly regret only charting as high as #2 on my chart, particularly as I prefer it to my current #1 which just happens to have the same name. And yes, if someone had told me that Owl Eyes would have 3 #1's on my chart within 12 months, 12 months ago, I would have laughed hysterically. It proves to be the 70th #1 on the chart. I lack motivation to discuss the rest of the movement

They're back! With their 3rd entry to date, and equal highest. The Gaslight Anthem that is, with "45" or ""45"" (I still haven't figured it out), at #18. They're back! Well, they were already charting anyway, so it's not like they were gone, although the song title says different! The Black Keys score their 4th entry with "Dead And Gone" at #22. They're back! If you paid attention to my chart before I posted it online, you'd know that Metric were kinda a big deal on my chart, perhaps they still are. "Youth Without Youth" is in at #32 as their 5th entry to date. They're back! Although they're never too far away from my chart, as this is their 7th entry to date. Children Collide are in at #35 with "Cherries".
Great to see Never Let Me Go nearly make the top ten. Hope it makes it there next week. Great rise for Lego House and cool to see Need Your Love move up.

I agree with Chris, go Lana! Happy to see Florence knocking on the top ten door, as well as rises for Ed Sheeran and The Temper Trap. Shame that Gold On The Ceiling hasn't made as big of an impression as I was hoping.
Even though I'm starting to get into Rabbit Hole, the change at #1 is good. However, Rumine must be at least top 5 next week, great to see it up some more though. Portugal. The Man, Fostertrakimbra, Chairlift, TTT, Ed and Florence all rise nicely which is great, but sad to see Met Before on its last legs... again The entries are basically in reverse order of my preference, so I hope Cherries can rise next week. Aside from that, I don't mind losing those songs except for Shearwater. I think The xx's Crystalised is like your equivalent of Logic for me
More Crystalised! Metric have the biggest move of the week. I didn't put much effort into this commentary because I was busy not putting much effort into this video for my whole chart http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJ3XN3YHMBk

It's another week of returns, the first one having been absent from the chart for about 2 years, but crashes right back in at #29. Passion Pit score their 4th entry with "Take A Walk". The other artist has been more prevalent over the last year, Last Dinosaurs score their 3rd entry with "Andy" at #34.
Yay Lana gets another new peak! getting closer , Nice rises aswell for The Shins, Florence, Ladyhawke, The Gaslight Anthem, Random Black Keys song & The Temper Trap.
Big week for Australian songs on the chart, so naturally, the top 2 go unchanged for a 3rd week. However, horribly un-Australian things also happen, with big moves in the top 10 for Silversun Pickups, The Shins, Beach House & The Gaslight Anthem. Does Ladyhawke count? I don't even care anymore but she has the biggest rise of the week and is up to #5. Despite the lack of Justin Timberlake on the hook, The Black Keys are up again, and Mark Foster/A-Trak/Kimbra are in the top 15 for the 3rd/1st/3rd times. Metric score a 4th top 20 hit with "Youth Without Youth", Chairlift continue to be relatively struggling due to their singles not being as good as their album tracks. Back on the Australian bandwagon, Children COllide & Last Dinosaurs make decent gains.
NEW ENTRIES
To finally justify the Australian talk, all the entries this week are from that country that I'm from! The first is a relatively new name to me, but make a big impression immediately, Battleships are in at #18 with "In Retrospect". As part of his EP which has been trolling the top 20 on ARIA for the last 4 months, Matt Corby has a 2nd entry with "Souls A'fire". It's in at #32. I didn't like it much when first hearing it, then I heard it again, and I do. Dead Letter Circus are back after a nearly 2 year absense with "Wake Up" at #34. It's their 4th entry. And finally debuting to the chart because I finally heard a song of theirs and realised I liked it before it became irrelevant, Deep Sea Arcade are in at #39 with "Seen No Right".
Unfortunately almost all of the songs I like (/know) fall this week : Lana, Florence, Ed and Fun, while the other two remain steady : The Black Keys and The Temper Trap.
And as three weeks have passed, for the third time in a row, a new #1 is required, and it's a surprise one, even for me. Ladyhawke snatches a #1 in "Sunday Drive". It's the 71st #1 on the chart, and to my knowledge, the first one ever by a fellow aspie, yay! How long will it last? Potentially not very long, with Beach House making a threat with a 3 place rise to #4. The Gaslight Anthem could have potential too if they ever bother to make it to Aus iTunes *hint hint*. They're rising nonetheless, but perhaps not meeting their potential. The Black Keys score their 2nd top 10 hit with "Dead and Gone" while "Gold On The Ceiling" continues its silly run outside the top 30 with a 3 place rise to #37. After being caught in a tough patch of the chart last week, Florence + The Machine have more luck this week and rise back to #11. Battleships make a respectible start to their run, cracking the top 15 with "In Retrospect". Metric still have a long way to go before they can match previous efforts, but "Youth Without Youth" continues its ascent to #17. Passion Pit are looking to score a 4th consecutive (if anyone even cares about consecutive hits lol) top 20 hit, and just may do it. In the meantime, "Take A Walk" sits just outside at #21. Last Dinosaurs have a steep task to score a 3rd top 10 hit, but "Andy" makes the largest jump of the week, up 7 places to #23. Dead Letter Circus have never had a top 10 hit, but perhaps now is their chance, "Wake Up" is up 5 places. Howler ruin the 1 week stint of having no songs over 20 weeks, and then soon Husky & The Shins will and it'll probably be ages before it ever happens again.
NEW ENTRIES
I still cannot get into her big breakout song "Jungle", but I'm finding the follow up to be suitably efficient. Emma Louise debuts to the chart with "Boy" at #26. Don't cha think it's ironic that it could miss out on charting due to an influx of Voice songs including one by an artist with a similar name? If so I suggest you re-consult your encyclopedia rather than your Jagged Little Pill CD next time you search for the meaning of irony. Even though this is totally old, I'm justifying it since it was never released over here until this year, and it just wouldn't be right for me to overlook it. Of Monsters and Men are in at #33 with "Little Talks".
Pleased to see Florence & The Black Keys rebounding slightly. Could there be four weeks with four different songs on top? I guess I'll find out next week.
Ladyhawke? You siris? Riley? Idgi. I'm yet to be captivated by it, but it is decent enough. All that being said, I would have deffineatealy preferred Owlised on top.
This Beach House thing is getting up there too, I probably need to hear it again. I heard The Gaslight Anthem the other day on the radio, but it hasn't really altered my opinion on it. Good to see both those songs rise though.
Also I do like like like the songs songs songs that rise rise rise from the following: Metric, Children Collide!!!!, Matt Corby, Chairlift, Last Dinosaurs, Dead Letter Circ[not]hor[/not]us, Florence, Passion Pit, Battleships, both Black Keys I suppose, Fostertrakimbra and of course the DSA song that is almost the worst on the album
I unfortunately found out that the Boy song is by Emma Louise, but I really don't give a hoot. You have charted Boy!
Sadly I'm yet to hear either of the debuts, which makes them very disposable and bin-suitable. Also sadface that Ed is nearly out despite rising on the AP. I don't mind losing Regina and Numbers Radio, and I can't recall a time where a dropout has fallen to #49
Score for six straight sixes for Shins' Spiral-admiring song. I think consecutive top 20 hits are cool, I very rarely have them though because I chart too many n1c album tracks down low all the time
Of Monsters And Men! I've known the song for a while (played HEAPS in NZ) but I never got around to charting it. I was surprised to see it charting in the US.
@D Man, sorry I worded it poorly, what I meant to say is that my last 3 #1s have lasted for 3 weeks each.
Jun 3rd
Our two monikered artists hold up the top two from last week. Beach House continue their climb now being in their 9th week and at #3. The Gaslight Anthem score their 1st top 5 hit with "45". Battleships make a big jump into the top 10 with "In Retrospect". Passion Pit score their 4th top 20 hit. Emma Louise & Of Monsters and Men compliment their debuts from last week by taking the equal biggest rises.

It almost happened last week, but it isn't that big of a shock. The Temper Trap score their 6th entry with "Trembling Hands" at #24 giving them 3 simultaneous charters. A consistent band from the last 6 years but never able to make my chart, until now. Dappled Cities enter at #30 with "Run With The Wind". I love when I discover something great from the charts and it's happened this time with Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl's massive club hit "In My Mind", at #32. A band that I'm not particularly fond of score well by not sounding like themselves! Mystery Jets enter at #35 with "Someone Purer".
I have finally heard Ladyhawke, and it is a catchy track, so it pleases me that it has remained on the top this week. Great to see Florence, Matt Corby and The Balck Keys rising. Shame to see Ed out, but glad to see Ivan Gough debut.
Good to see Ladyhawke hold onto #1. Hope Warrior can each the Top 10 next week. Also, good debuts this week, especial TTT and In My Mind. I also like the lower end of you charts, although it looks like they've had their runs, hope they can rise or stay for a bit longer.
Boo Ladyhawke still. Cool to see Florence in the top ten. I loved Trembling Hands on first listen so good to see that debut and chart immediately higher than Need Your Love (although I still love NYL).
I'm giving Sunday Drive another listen, and it's still not grabbing me all that much. I prefer Black White & Blue. Great to see Battleships zoom into the top 10, and wow you're charting Waitress higher than me :O
I like the rises for Metric, Passion Pit, Children Collide, Matt Corby, Beach House and Black Keys. Not to mention the 12th best Deep Sea Arcade song. Debuts are good, in the order of TTT, Ivan Gough, Mystery Jets and Dappled Cities. Ed
It's been a slow climb to the top but Beach House have finally done it! "Myth" has gone from being their first chart hit to their first #1 hit [/latfh]. Taking 10 weeks to get to the top makes it the slowest climb to the top in just over a year. And "Myth" is the 72nd #1 in the chart's history. Last week's top 2 are shifted down a spot each because of this, and The Gaslight Anthem need to be contented with #4 for another week, although they finally released it on AU iTunes . The Black Keys score their 2nd top 5 hit with "Dead And Gone", and Battleships' "In Retrospect" continues its ascent. I've finally caved into a much easier crediting system, which makes databasing much easier. Kimbra scores her 3rd top 10 hit (or 4th if you include a certain ubiquitous song which I suspect anyone reading this may have heard of, *coughitsthegotyesongcough*).
Emma Louise & Passion Pit both jump into the top 15, The Shins rebound again because "Simple Song" is awesome, and Of Monsters and Men, The Temper Trap & Last Dinosaurs all hit the top 20. Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl have the biggest rise of the week with "In My Mind".
NEW ENTRIES
In a slow week (no pun intended), only 2 debuts get across the line. The actually notable one comes from Australian indie band Millions and their song "Slow Burner". It's in at #28. Another Australian indie pop singer with an animal in their pseudonym enters at #40. This one is Catcall at the song is "Satellites".
Hmmm... I'd prefer Ladyhawke on top only because I know that song Nice to see rises for Kimbra, Ivan Gogh & Fun. Great to see Gold on the Ceiling hanging in there, plus perfect tens for Florence.
The Black Keys has been in 12 weeks yet it hasn't reached higher than #33? Yay for Fun getting to that 20 though, damn now I need to find another song to root for. Nice 10s for Never Let Me Go
A change? Nope, but Beach House's new album is really good, and the lead single is especially good and holds #1 for a 2nd week. The Gaslight Anthem have the most promising rise though, sitting right behind them at #2. Battleships effortlessly strike top 5 gold with "In Retrospect", and Kimbra scores her highest 'solo' charting position to date at #7. Emma Louise amazingly hits the top 10, while Passion Pit & Metric are still stuck outside. The Temper Trap & Of Monsters and Men stick together in their rising, and somehow that club dance song which is doing ok on the ARIA charts makes the top 20.

It took a while to grow on me, but Citizens! finally chart with their oh so catchy song "Reptile" at #30. A band who have struggled to crack the chart in the last 12 months have finally made their breakthrough with "Dance Bear" at #34. Snakadaktal is this band, and yes, both of these names are silly Django Django made their debut about two months ago with "Default" peaking at #40, but that has quickly been followed up and surpassed, "Storm" is in at #38.
While it looks like Florence has stalled, I am pleased to see Kimbra, The Temper Trap, Ivan Gogh and The Black Keys rising. 13 weeks in the bottom eight is interesting for Gold On The Ceiling.
I think I heard Crystallised the other day, but I could be wrong. I don't really want to support In My Mind but there's not much else to go for Go Matt Corby!
Beach House and The Gaslight Anthem are both fine but come on Battleships for #1! Waitress would be good too. All three debuts are great, especially the song that is just so not as good as the previous single. I need to buy Trembling Hands. Interesting to see Millions go up. I don't know if I want to declare war or not, but Warrior is not a Kimbra solo track, regardless of whatever perfectly logical argument you have Go Ivan Gough though.
In the closest race for #1 in quite some time, The Gaslight Anthem are able to snatch the top spot from Beach House with their song "45". It's the 73rd #1, but don't put it past Beach House to possibly get it back. In any case, they're worlds ahead of the rest. On that note, Battleships are right behind but not really right behind them at #3 this week. Emma Louise also grabs a new peak at #7, and Passion Pit successfully score their 2nd top 10 hit with "Take A Walk".
The Temper Trap & Of Monsters & Men continue to climb together, and Dappled Cities hit the top 20 with "Run With The Wind". Snakadaktal have the biggest rise of the week, up 11 places with "Dance Bear". "Gold On The Ceiling" is somehow still in the chart.

Beach House's new album is all kinds of amazing, and fortunately they've already had a 2nd single sorted. "Lazuli" is in at #25. On the other hand, Metric don't seem to have a 2nd single sorted, but this one sounds the most single-like and I also like it. "Synthetica" debuts at #28 to become Metric's 6th entry. And just sneaking in for a debut, Hunting Grounds score their 4th entry with "Flaws" at #40.
I've already heard your new number #1 but i think i preferred Beach House there, nice rises elsewhere though for The Temper Trap, Ivan Gough & Matt Corby. Last edited:
Shame to see Kimbra and Florence down, but pleased to see rises for The Temper Trap & Ivan Gough. Great to see Gold On The Ceiling hanging on for another week!
Nice rise for Trembling Hands, hope it can make the top ten next week and continue climbing from there. Wow for Gold On the Ceiling's run. Peak of #33 but 14 weeks in!!!!
Maybe it'll grow on me, but it just sounds like TBS too much for me. Hopefully Battleships can grab top spot (you know me, I like pretty much everything here, but some more so than others ). That being said, I actually don't know if I prefer 45 over Myth Go Waitress, go Storm, go In My Mind, go Take A Walk, and yippeeeeeeeee for Dance Bear! Sad to lose those three over others. And new Hunting Grounds, ooh, that's a possible #1 for me in 2019
Two weeks isn't quite enough to express how much I can like a song, so Beach House have a great week to grab #1 again, for their 3rd week. But The Gaslight Anthem don't have things too bad, as they still hold in the top 2. Perhaps they could be back at #1? Or would that be too silly? Who knows. Battleships & Owl Eyes are stuck at #3 & #4, and The Black Keys are back in the top 5 with "Dead and Gone" after leaving for a couple weeks. Emma Louise continues her impressive run with "Boy" reaching a new peak of #6. The Temper Trap also score their 5th top 10 hit with "Trembling Hands" at #10. Beach House score the biggest rise of the week with "Lazuli" up 10 places.

Sugar Army have charted once for me all the way back in 2009, even though they probably should have charted more. Shockingly, they released a new single a few months ago and I just discovered this. "Hooks For Hands" is in at #25. It completely surprises me how successful this song is, but it is good so perhaps that suffices as an explanation. Rudimental are in at #28 with "Feel The Love". Many people know me to be a big Muse fan, and I think that is almost mandatory to liking this because it's so structurally bizarre. It's also hilarious. So "Survival" becomes their 9th entry and it's in at #29. I don't quite love it yet but the opportunity has arisen and I require this to be a #1 hit in Australia. Fun. score their 2nd hit with "Some Nights" at #37.
Yay for Beach House taking back #1, Cool rises aswell for The Black Keys, The Temper Trap & Ivan Gough, nice debuts for Rudimental & Fun. (I hope fun. can get higher though)
Who needs change anyway? It's not like "Myth" is a song that gets old. It's at #1 for its 4th non-consecutive week. But a new contender arises from the popular game of Battleships and their song "In Retrospect". Will they be able to hilariously say "I1" next week? Who knows. Emma Louise makes the top 5 with "Boy", and Of Monsters and Men score a top 10 hit in "Little Talks". Fun. have the biggest move of the week, up 10 places to #27 with "Some Nights".
NEW ENTRIES
Moderately popular indie pop group Alpine are back after a top 10 hit last year in "Hands". They score their 2nd entry with "Gasoline" at #28. I have no idea where this came from, but Firehorse is apparently in at #35 with "Our Hearts".
Oh no! Goodbye Gold On The Ceiling, although 15 weeks with a peak of 33 is impressive. Shame to see Kimbra and Florence down, but rises for Fun, Ivan Gough and The Temper Trap are pleasing.
I now like this Emma Louise song, so good to see it make the top five! Once again, nice rise for Trembling Hands, Feel The Love and Some Nights. I'm gonna have to come up with something new to say next week, maybe you should chart some Katy
Still yay for Beach House, Battleships look like it might take #1 soon? I could be checking it out next week possibly then , anyway cool rises for The Temper Trap, Ivan Gough, Snakadaktal, Rudimental & fun.
Have I ever had a top 3 quite this 'pleasant'? Beach House head out for a ridiculous 5th week leaving Battleships behind. Their shot is not over, but new contenders are arising. The Temper Trap score their 4th top 5 hit with "Trembling Hands", and Beach House have a 2nd top 10 hit in "Lazuli". A surprise top 10 entrant in Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl's "In My Mind" also surfaces. Metric make another stake for the top 10 with "Synthetica", and Muse score yet another top 20 hit with "Survival".

I swear it's got nothing to do with the title, but I liken this to Florence + The Machine's "Hurricane Drunk". Nonetheless I've grown to love it very quickly and MS MR are in at #12 with "Hurricane". Might only be a buzz single, but in any case I love it and Tame Impala are back with "Apocalypse Dreams" at #16. It's their first entry in about 2 years and 3rd overall. "Blue Jeans" just ran out of charting space, so I guess I need a new one! Lana Del Rey scores her 4th entry with "Summertime Sadness" at #23. The Killers haven't graced my chart in about 3 years, but now they're back with "Runaways" at #28.
All four entries are nice, Tame Impala at this stage my pick. But wow, Firehorse is up!!!!!! I do hope Battleships can take number one at some point, but I do like Myth anyway. Alternatively, Trembling Hands would be a nice #1. Shame to see DSA gone, and wow 26 weeks for The Shins! Also go Muse.
Still a nice #1, I'm gunning for The Temper Trap to take it soon, Nice to see Ivan Gough, Rudimental & fun. moving up, good debuts for Lana Del Rey (does this have a video yet? ) & The Killers.
Somehow, out of all these new songs that are coming out (I'm still yet to listen to any of them, haven't heard P!nk yet ), The Killers is standing out as they one I want to listen to first, not that I'm expecting much though, since I only like a couple of their songs. Go Of Monsters And Men! Hope that can go top 5 at least, and Rudimental and Fun are making great climbs up the chart too.
Incredibly, Beach House hang on for their 6th week at #1! This leaves Battleships unlucky at #2 for a 3rd straight week, and they have contenders nearby now. The Temper Trap rise to #3 with Trembling Hands, and Beach House's Lazuli halves its position from #8 to #4. New to the top 10 is MS MR's "Hurricane" which is up 5 places to #7. Of Monsters & Men slide up another place with Little Talks. Tame Impala rise but remain just short of the top 10 with "Apocalypse Dreams" at #11. Metric are once again eyeing off a top 10 placement, and "Synthetica" is 1 step closer to achieving it. The biggest moves of the week come from Fun. & The Killers who are up 6 and 8 places respectively.

It's a big week for entries with 6 in total, and the first one is a big song too. Frank Ocean debuts to the chart at #21 with his 10 minute epic "Pyramids". The xx haven't seen my chart in 2 years, and now they're back and have even charted on ARIA! "Angels" is in at #28. After initially disappointing me, "Octopus" has grown on me enough to chart it. It's Bloc Party's 3rd entry and comes after a 3.5 year absence from the chart. It's in at #32. Because Channel Orange is something quite special, Frank Ocean is in again! "Thinkin' Bout You" enters at #36. After spending two months failing to crack the top 40, Major Lazer have finally done it and enter at #37. Also taking a while, Emeli Sande scores her 2nd entry this year with "My Kind Of Love" sneaking in at #39.
Of this week's debuts, The xx and Bloc Party are by far the best. And the worst of the week debuts the highest??
Anyway, great rises for Fun., Django Django, Lana, Muse, Metric, MS MR, OFaM and TTT. I hope Father John Misty can stay in a little longer though. And I like Beach House being on top. And I LOVE Firehorse rising!!! Hopefully more to come! And Simple Song is clearly 2012's Midnight City

Im liking MS MR, The Temper Trap and Battleships being in your Top 10. Good to see Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl just make it too. Nice 27 weeks there for Simple Song.
An exciting thing occurs this week, Beach House replace themselves at #1! This is in fact, the first time this has ever happened. "Lazuli" becomes the 74th #1 and the only one to ever contain the word 'lazuli' amazingly. MS MR however are right behind at #2 with "Hurricane", and Of Monsters and Men persist with "Little Talks" up to #6. Tame Impala's 3rd chart entry "Apocalypse Dreams", becomes their 3rd top 10 hit, and it's now at #8. Metric also score their 4th top 10 hit with "Synthetica".
Interestingly enough, The Killers have never made the top 10 before, but make an impression with "Runaways" bulleting up to #11. Rudimental, Frank Ocean, Fun., Lana Del Rey, The xx, Hunting Grounds, Alpine, Bloc Party, Major Lazer & Emeli Sande also rise.

Well, two isn't quite enough I think, so how about three? Frank Ocean enters for a 3rd time now with "Sweet Life" at #17. In the 5 separate years I've been making my chart, Children Collide were (by mere flukes mostly) the only artist to chart a new song every year. However now the only other artist left in contention has just matched them, and this is of course referring to British India. With "I Can Make You Love Me", they have their 7th entry in at #29 Just sneaking in is a song that I only recently put a name to, though it's been out for a while. The Medics debut to the chart at #40 with "Griffin".
The rises for Rudimental, Fun, Lana Del Rey and Emeli Sande are pleasing. Many songs that I don't know which makes it hard to comment, but the majority of songs I like/know have risen, so that's good. Looking forward to the next chart style next week
Wow I've missed this chart for a few weeks! Great to see My Kind of Love charting. Nice to see Runaways in the top ten and Some Nights and Summertime Sadness still moving up.
This week sees Hurricane with its 2nd week at no.1. Something For Kate, The Rubens and Dirty Projectors all debut to the chart. Myth slips to no. 5 whilst In My Mind is steady.
Great to see Rudimental in the top ten, as well as Fun & Lana Del Rey improving on last week. Hopefully Birdy and Calvin Harris make the chart next week. Love seeing Jesus Of Suburbia high on your vintage chart.
Possibly due to the areas I've lived in, I've never had much of an issue with wind. I do remember this one time when I was walking to the bus stop that it was particularly windy and I couldn't stay put on the pavement for a moment. That being said, I've always been intrigued by weather extremities that I've never experienced despite being norms in other parts of the world, I mean what is snow like?! Nonetheless, as the anecdote suggests, hurricane scale winds are foreign to me, which brings much fascination when it comes about musically. MS MR remain on top for a third week with "Hurricane". Until tonight, I had no idea what 'lazuli' is, but apparently it refers to a semi-precious stone 'lapis lazuli'. There's nothing quite like "Lazuli" though and Beach House hold at two once again. Over my many years, I've picked up quite a lot of dreams. I'd mention whether or not any of them have to do with the title "Apocalypse Dreams", but quite frankly people who talk about their dreams are weird. Perhaps that's what's keeping Tame Impala from rising higher than three at the moment.
I don't know if you could call someone a 'runaway'. You probably can though, because otherwise "Runaways" wouldn't have very good grammar. The intrigue of this crazy title has surely helped The Killers score their first top 5 hit. They're up two places to four this week.
Frank Ocean continues to be all kinds of amazing. "Pyramids" in fact manages to be so long that I can walk from end to end of my university campus and it still won't be finished, I learnt that yesterday. I don't have an anecdote for "Sweet Life" as it doesn't have any ridiculous quality to it. Both songs are up two places to six and nine respectively.
Some nights of mine are not spent writing up chart commentary. Most nights even. Fun probably aren't aware of this though, but they do have a song called "Some Nights" which becomes their second top 10 hit this week, up three places to ten.
One contestant from The Voice covered a song called "I Can't Make You Love Me" earlier this year. Incidentally that fandom never did eventuate. British India are however fully able to accommodate this, much like they did some 5 years ago. They've proven this with their song "I Can Make You Love Me" which is up six places to twelve this week.
The last significant gain belongs to The Rubens. The totally real and superior version of their song "My Gun" jumps ten places to 22 this week.
If the numerous songs on the topic are anything to go by, love is a concept that no one really understands, or at least, everyone thinks they understand, but the conflicting nature of metaphors people use to describe it suggests that most, if not all of them are wrong. So is it possible that love is a quantifiable source that could be even half full or half empty, depending on your outlook? It could perhaps be the case, and if so, I haven't let my love of Owl Eyes' music run dry. She has the highest debut of the week with "Love Run Dry" entering at 17.
Do people still watch Neighbours? I personally only ever used to see the start of it due to being on after The Simpsons at 6:30pm for what seemed like a decade. Since then, I hear just about nothing of the show but they still run ads for it. As Husky have shown, I'm not above charting songs that I've seen in ads, and as countless other songs have shown, the Australian music buying public aren't against buying these songs either. Birdy's "People Help The People" does both of these things. It enters at 33 this week.
I'm patient enough for follow up albums. The beauty of it is that through being a fan of numerous artists, there's always one around the corner, even if The Avalanches or Queens of the Stone Age refuse to release anything. Mumford & Sons went so far as to write an anthem for this phenomenon, which is fair enough as they haven't seen my chart in over two years. They round out the debuts for the week with "I Will Wait" at 38.

Hooray for fun hitting the top ten. Hopefully they can continue to rise! Shame to see Rudimental, The Temper Trap and Ivan Gough down, but a pleasing debut for Birdy provides some consolation Hope to see Calvin & Example debuting soon.
Great to see Fun in the Top 10, but shame Rudimental falls. Solid Top 11 anyway, and great to see Pyramids reach a new peak. Cool entries, and hope Calvin Harris and Example come back
Cool rises for The Killers, fun., British India, the xx & The Rubens, good debuts for Mumfords & Birdy, how weird that our debuts for Love Run Dry are so close
I honestly can't recall whose format this is Anyway I hope Tame Impala can clinch top spot at some point. Great to see them also enter with Elephant, but I'm not big on Calvin's newie. Sticky Fingers are cool and I don't believe I've heard Grimes. All this being said, I'm surprised Madness is yet to get a mention, and I'm also struggling for ideas for my own chart format this week, meaning it's growing thin
I don't know this chart either, but I'll assume the spelling errors are part of that chart, so well done on the commitment! Bummer that fun. have lost momentum, but I'm pleased to see Mumford and Sons up plus Calvin Harris / Example debuting.
Cool to see British India hit the top ten, nice rises elsewhere for Owl Eyes, The xx, The Rubens, Birdy, Mumford & Sons, Great to see Calvin / Example debut.
By some incredible force of nature, a group I had never heard of 3 months ago, now finds themselves at #1 for a 5th consecutive week. MS MR is that group and "Hurricane" is their song. This leaves Tame Impala stuck at #2 for a 2nd consecutive week. But there is some positive news, The Killers break out of #4 and move to a new peak of #3, and Frank Ocean replaces himself in the top 5 with "Sweet Life" up to #4. British India score their 4th top 5 hit with "I Can Make You Love Me".
Speaking of 4ths, Owl Eyes breaks into the top 10 with "Love Run Dry" at #8, her 4th top 10 hit. Fun. hold at #10 for an awesome chart listing. Something For Kate make a strong impression for the top 10, with "Survival Expert" up to #11. The xx continue their slow ascent with "Angels" up another spot to #13, and Birdy cracks the top 20 with "People Help The People".

"Little Talks" has been unlucky to only peak at #4, with better timing it probably could've gone higher. However Of Monsters and Men have another shot with another song from their awesome album in "Mountain Sound" at #18. It took me a while to get used to it, but I'm now quite happily enjoying Muse's "Madness" and it is in at #32. It's their 10th entry to the chart. Sadly I never charted "Two Weeks". I don't know what was wrong with me. Nonetheless, my best attempt to amend this is charting new Grizzly Bear! "Yet Again" becomes their 1st entry and it's in at #35.
Go The Killers (We both have it at #3 this week and moving up 1 spot aswell ), good rises aswell for British India, Owl Eyes, The Rubens, Birdy & Mumford & Sons.

Muse and Grizzly Bear in, yes! Especially the latter. I may need to hear MS MR again In other news, keep falling Pyramids. Tamey, Sticky Fingers, Mumfords, xx, Rubens etc. all need to keep rising.
It's finally happened! MS MR have been dethroned after 5 weeks at #1 with "Hurricane". The song in question? "Sweet Life" by one Frank Ocean, which ascends from #4 to get there. It's the 76th #1 and the first from a solo male since Father John Misty back in April. He pushes a few songs down to get there, with Tame Impala & The Killers each dropping back a spot. Owl Eyes reaches the top 5 for a 4th time with "Love Run Dry", and Frank Ocean's other hit "Pyramids" regains a spot. Something For Kate's first chart entry becomes their first top 10 entry as "Survival Expert" inches from #11 to #10 in a tight spot in the chart.
Of Monsters & Men have no problem scoring a 2nd hit, "Mountain Sound" is up from #18 to #12. Mumford & Sons also make a sizeable jump up 7 places to #15. Sugar Army return to their peak from nearly 2 months ago of #22 with "Hooks For Hands", and Muse make the biggest jump of the week with "Madness" up 8 spots to #24.
NEW ENTRIES
Sure they no longer have the #1 spot, but fret no more, MS MR are still in action with a new (well technically it's been around for a year but it's soon to be finally released with their EP) single "Bones". It's in at #27. The Gaslight Anthem had an unrelated small rebound with "45" this week, and they also have a new single. "Handwritten" is their 4th song to chart and it's in at #29. And finally repping Tasmania is Asta who debuts at #39 with "Escape".
Pleased to see rises for Mumford & Sons, Birdy and Calvin Harris / Example. I gave your number one a listen because I have been hearing a lot about Frank Ocean without hearing his work, and I did enjoy the smoothness of the track.
Exciting times, another new #1! And by sheer chance, Owl Eyes gets another #1! While I often try to keep my stanning in check, it was too good to refuse so I didn't. With 4 #1s, it ties her for the most ever. Also "Love Run Dry" is the 67th #1 on the chart. And just like last week, this pushes a whole bunch of songs down a peg. "Pyramids" recovers however, and spends a 2nd week at #5. Something For Kate jump a couple more spots to #8, and Of Monsters and Men score their 2nd top 10 hit with "Mountain Sound" up to #10.
Mumford & Sons are on pace for a 3rd top 10 with "I Will Wait" now up to #12. Birdy also climbs a few more spots to #15 with "People Help The People", and after 11 weeks in the 21-30 zone, Sugar Army break out with "Hooks For Hands" at #19. MS MR make the biggest climb of the week with "Bones" up 6 places to #21.

Actually that heading is a lie as there is only one new entry this week. I listen to a lot of Radiohead. People who don't know how much I do would probably groan if they were to find out. If I were by chance already charting a side-project, then I clearly have gotten away with it very well. I've ruined my chances now by saying it out loud. Atoms For Peace are in at #17 with "Default" and they definitely have no connections to that band.
However it was a slow week for me which means re-entries galore! Well the first one has nothing to do with that as it ended up reasonably high anyway. And why not? I never charted "Ni**as In Paris" particularly high before, so here it is back at a new peak of #20. Meanwhile Battleships & Owl Eyes re-enter with their recent dropouts because I couldn't fill the numbers.
Pleased to see Mumford & Sons getting closer to the top 10, as well as rises for Birdy and Calvin Harris. Surprising re-entry for Ni**as In Paris, although I've only heard it for the first time recently (a bit slow, I know), it is pretty good.
Owl Eyes and more Owl Eyes! Yippee for NIP but shame to see Hunting Grounds and Bloc Party go. The xx falling as soon as they rise in mine? Either it's a conspiracy or I'm too slow
This week's chart is unashamedly boring! Well it is if you like big dramatic jumps because there certainly aren't any of them, but there's plenty of shuffling around. Namely at the top spot. If it proves anything, it's that telekenetic powers cannot influence my chart, and that "Love Run Dry"'s film clip confuses me. It's down to #2 though, replaced by the predecessor "Sweet Life". "Hurricane" stays strong at #3, and "Pyramids" continues its climb with now something of worth to it, a new peak at #4! Tame Impala drop back another spot to #5. Something For Kate & Of Monsters and Men score new peaks in the top 10, and the top 10 remains with the same songs as last week. This is possible to change next week with plenty of songs in the running just outside, particularly from Mumford & Sons, The Rubens, and the week's biggest jumper Atoms For Peace. Sugar Army, MS MR, The Gaslight Anthem, Muse, Grimes, Calvin Harris, Grizzly Bear, Sticky Fingers & Asta all score new peaks.

If there's one thing that's irritating about charting indie bands, it's the lack of information about single releases, or just lack of singles. Incidentally, this isn't my favourite song, or a single, from Metric's album, but it's the one I think will endure the best, and is being played on the radio. "Speed the Collapse" is in at #18 and is their 7th entry. I don't know much about them but I'm really liking this song now. Nantes debut to the chart with "Unsatisfy" at #27. Finally got around to listening to the album recently and it reminded me that "Chained" was actually quite good. So it's their 3rd entry at #35.
Wow Great longevity for LIttle Talks! And I'm finally getitng into We'll Be Coming Back. I hope Rudimental can hang around a bit more as well. Mumford for top 10!
All of the songs that I like rise by one, I Will Wait, People Help The People and Madness. Although We'll Be Coming Back goes up two so go Calvin/Example!
In what happens ever so frequently, the top 3 remain locked in their positions. This is good for Frank Ocean, who scores a 3rd week at #1. Actually I've been having trouble finding new top 5 worthy songs, so a lot of the top 10 is a little stagnant. Namely Tame Impala rising back to #4. Of Monsters and Men rise another two places to #6 though. Atoms For Peace score their 1st top 10 hit with "Default" at #9, and Mumford & Sons score their 3rd with "I Will Wait" at #10.
Metric rise for yet another hit with "Speed The Collapse" the biggest riser of the week up 6 places to #12. Fun.'s Some Nights rebounds a little, while equally old "Hooks For Hands" climbs into the top 15. The Gaslight Anthem hit the top 20 with "Handwritten", as do Muse with "Madness".

The first time I heard the album, this really stood out as single-like. It still does and is one of my favourites from the album, and now I'm hearing it more on the radio! Alpine get their 3rd chart entry with "Seeing Red" at #25. When I first heard this song, I thought I would NEVER hear it again. Amazingly, it's in the charts now, and I can dig that. Icona Pop are in at #33 with "I Love It". I got it for free off iTunes and until not long ago, didn't even consider charting it, but why not? #37 has Boy with "Little Numbers".
Nice to see Mumford & Suns hit the top ten, plus a mini rebound for Fun. Shame to see Birdy down, and Calvin / Example stalling, but pleased to see Icona Pop debuting.
The top three remains incredibly deadlocked, but that doesn't mean that changes can't happen. And in this ensuing chaos, the #1 has swapped again. After two weeks at #2, Owl Eyes once again ascends to #1. This is not to say that Frank Ocean couldn't get it again, but at that point it may be too silly to handle. MS MR are stuck at #3 for a 4th week. Could change be afoot...a mountain?! Not that the pun even works, but Of Monsters and Men don't care, they have a 2nd #4 hit! Frank Ocean's "Pyramids" also holds in the top 5 yet again. Atoms For Peace rise a couple more places to #7, Metric score a 5th top 10 hit with "Speed the Collapse" up to #8, and Mumford & Sons continue to limp upwards with "I Will Wait".
Sugar Army do the ridiculous and rise to yet another new peak, with 15 weeks in the chart(!) Grimes' "Oblivion" takes the biggest rise of the week, up a solid 8 places to #14. Alpine score their 3rd top 20 hit with "Seeing Red" up to #20.

Frequently I'll hear a song a bunch of times, to the point where by the time I finally get a name to it, it's considered rather old. Fortunately this didn't happen in this case, but I did miss out on it being the free single of the week on iTunes a fortnight ago. In spite of that, Australian band The Trouble With Templeton debut to the chart at #23 with "Six Months In A Cast". After a year and a half out of the chart, Birds of Tokyo returned with a new EP released just a couple days ago, so possibly expect this to rise faster. Amazingly this is now their 12th entry and "This Fire" is in at #25. I've wanted to chart more from this album but have never been sure what. Wikipedia hinted that this was announced in a live show as being the next single a while ago, but that information was shady at best. As it turns out, when hearing a replay of their recent set in Australia, The Shins' song "It's Only Life" is indeed a single, and now it's their 3rd entry at #30. I wasn't sure if I'd ever chart them again, but they surprised me with just how good this was. San Cisco score their 3rd entry with "Wild Things" at #38.
Mumford and Sons get that little bit closer... There isn't much good apart from that for me, with Birdy and Calvin both dropping. I heard the new BOT, and it didn't grab me straight away, but I think it could be a grower, so I am pleased to see it debut strongly.
So many new bands with new music, I need to have a new music sesh Most important though is that Owl Eyes is on top! Again! And BOOOOOOOOOOOOOY are up!!! Grizzly Bear are down But BOOOOY ARE UP!!!! I like that Metric song too, wouldn't object to that getting to #1 at some point. But I'd prefer Boy.

A long reign can be good. Long rain can be annoying. The positive of long rain is that it prevents everything from going dry, and you wouldn't want to let your love run dry! But that segues to Owl Eyes being #1 for a 3rd week, matching last single "Crystalised"'s effort. being at #1, the song has arguably peaked. Frank Ocean's "Sweet Life" is kept at #2 and having dropped from #1, the song has arguably peaked. Of Monsters and Men have shockingly outpeaked first single "Little Talks" with "Mountain Sound" up to #3, who knows if it's not yet peaked?! Frank Ocean returns to #4 with "Pyramids", and being as old as it is, it's probably fair to say it's peaked. MS MR finally leave their hold on the top 3 down to #5, they've definitely peaked but have more to hope for as "Bones" is now just outside the top 10. Metric's "Speed the Collapse" keeps climbing, with possibly more to come. Atoms For Peace may look as though they've peaked but were just caught in a bad spot this week. Mumford & Sons limp up a spot again but they sadly may have peaked now. Tame Impala feel as though they should've spent longer up top, but the old has to be shifted out, they've definitely peaked. On that note, Beach House were dropping too fast, they've certainly peaked, but they're back in the top 10 with "Lazuli".
Sugar Army break the record for slowest climb with "Hooks For Hands" up to #12 in its 16th week, dare I say it's a grower? Birds of Tokyo make a triumphant jump into the top 20 with "This Fire" at #16. Alpine's "Seeing Red" outpeaks previous single "Gasoline" to become their 2nd highest charter to date at #18. The Shins also make a handy rise of 5 places with "It's Only Life" at #25.

FINALLY, after 7 long weeks, Muse have a 2nd single announced ("Survival" doesn't count). Their heartfelt ballad about fatherhood "Follow Me" comes in at #17 (the highest they've been with this album) and is their 13th entry to date or something. The novelty of this band name will die very quickly, but Poliça (pronounced poh-lease-uh) are in at #22. The other problem is that I prefer the video/radio version of the song but can only find the album version for sale. Adele has also been missed on my chart for the last year, so she's back at #30 with "Skyfall", her 4th chart entry.
And Mumford inch yet again! Solid debut for Adele and nice little rise for Icona Pop. Good to see Some Nights hanging in the top 20. Hopefully Carry On will make an appearance on your chart
Sugar Army pushing through lol Great to see Owlies still on top. Excellent to see Metric nearly in the top 5. Nice rise for BOT also. This time, LRD needs to stay on top
Oh, I'm so far behind here, so many songs I need to listen to. Nice to see Adele and Muse debut, BoT and The Shins on the rise well and a good run for Little Talks. Nice to see that Runaways made the top three and Some Nights scraped into the top ten, even if they should both be #1's. But of course your Old Man adoration must live on!

Was this a shock? It looks a bit weird for me I think, but nonetheless Metric have done it! by moving 6-1, "Speed The Collapse" becomes their 3rd #1, having previously done so twice in 2009 with "Sick Muse" & "Gimme Sympathy". It's the chart's 78th #1. Interestingly, 7 of the last 9 #1s have been by female vocalists. Anyhow, Metric basically push the rest of the top 5 down, however Of Monsters and Men retain their #3 position, and Atoms For Peace climb into the top 5 with "Default". There are also two new entrants to the top 10, the first being MS MR's "Bones" which climbs two places to #9, and the second is Sugar Army's "Hooks For Hands" which does so in its 17th week in the chart! Like MS MR, it's their 2nd top 10 hit. Birds of Tokyo are looking at yet another top 10 with "This Fire" up 4 places to #12, as are Muse whose "Follow Me" becomes their outright highest charter this year at #14. Poliça make a strong rise up 7 places with "Dark Star" at #15. However Adele makes the biggest rise of the week with "Skyfall" up 8 places to #22.
NEW ENTRIES
Well I've been wanting to chart another one for a while, so now The Killers score a 2nd hit this year with "Miss Atomic Bomb" at #25. "Elephant" just dropped out but fret not! Tame Impala keep it up with a new single "Feels Like We're Only Going Backwards" at #29. This is their 5th charting song to date. Meanwhile I've never been able to keep up with them in recent years and thus never charted them. In fact I'm still a bit slow now, but Maxïmo Park chart for the first time with "Write This Down" in at #35. Continuing to be ever present this year, The Temper Trap score a 4th hit this year and 7th overall, "Miracle" sneaks in at #40.
Oh, and for only the 2nd time this year, I have no featuring artists in my chart
Oh no... looks like Mumford & Sons have lost momentum. Good to see Adele and Icona Pop up, but a shame to see Birdy and fun down, so we'll call it even Last edited:
I class it as a shock, I wasn't expecting that jump to the top. But now you've set a shock precedent, Miss Atomic Bomb can jump to the top next week! Or, you know, Runaways or Some Nights. Shame to see Calvample drop out, it should have done better, but I can't fault three of those entires, loving The Killers and Maximo Park naturally, and Temper Trap are good too, so yay.I don't mind the Tame Impala album, not that I could pick that song, but I don't particularly feel much in favour of it either. Great jumps for Adele, Birds and Muse, and The Shins too, but I want that much higher.
I approve of the change at #1, even if I prefer Owl Eyes. Atoms For Peace would make a great #1 actually, make it happen A lot of songs I need to hear though. Cool rises for Adele, Muse, Icona Pop and San Cisco.
Great seeing This Fire rise up so quickly but sad to see Sweet Life end it's 6 week run in the top 2. Little Talks has had an excellent run for you, I hope it does well in the EOY.
Nice to see Birds of Tokyo move up (although I still haven't warmed to it as much as most of their first album). Great rise for Adele and cool to see Icona Pop moving up (that song has finally clicked for me). Great to see Miracle anchoring the chart.
I guess I better hear this #1 now , nice rises though for Adele, Icona Pop, Boy & San Cisco and good debut for The Killers but i topped that debut Last edited:
They jumped to the top spot triumphantly, but unlike the Dance/Club Play chart, Metric are able to hold onto their title without dropping embarrassingly. As is common when the #1 is stuck in place, the #2 and #3 are also as such. Atoms For Peace however climb a single frame to #4 with "Default". MS MR recently scored their 2nd top 10 hit with "Bones", and it rises again this week to #7, placing it ahead of their former #1 hit "Hurricane". Birds of Tokyo's last chart appearance with "Circles" couldn't yield a top 10 spot, but they make up with it with "This Fire" climbing 3 places to #9 this week. Poliça are swiftly making an impression, with "Dark Star" up 5 places to #10.
Muse continue to seek the lately elusive top 10, with "Follow Me" up another spot to #13. Alpine continue to climb with "Seeing Red" up to #14. Adele scores a 3rd top 20 hit with "Skyfall" up 4 places to #18, with The Killers just behind with "Miss Atomic Bomb" up 6 places. The Shins also make the top 20 with "It's Only Life".

My crazy discovery of the week is that John Newman is only about a year older than me! But more importantly, he proves to be consistently popular in making Rudimental songs great. He's also joined by Alex Clare, and "Not Giving In" is in at #27. Try to guess who the female artist with the most entries on my chart is. Is it Sia? Is it Owl Eyes? No and no. Well, they would have been correct a week ago, but the ever persistent Kimbra is back with her wacky song for a Disney movie. "With My Hands" is in at #30 and is her 5th entry as main artist or 6th if you include STIUTK which I was including for the purpose of that chart fact. Ah those Swedes concerned with house music & organised crime. I've wanted to chart them before but have always found something to miss the mark just slightly with their songs which prevented me from really getting into them (although Axwell does have credit to Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl's awesome "In My Mind"). Does it need an introduction? "Don't You Worry Child" is in at #36 It's not my favourite song from the album, but it was probably the best choice for the single. Fun. score a 3rd entry with "Carry On" at #39.
Cool to see Metric remain on top, I mean they have a whole system of measurement named after them, how could they not? All Old Man has is a sketchy representation of a character in an ancient book. But then if that book if older than the measurement system, Old Man should be on top, after all we know that older equals better, I'm not sure why your chart isn't filled with war songs.
Great move for This Fire into the top ten, but poor Sugar Army. All that time and effort to reach the top ten and it lasts one dismal week. Then again, maybe its epic run can continue and it can chart for twenty more weeks or something. That'd be cool.
Nice to see Adele, The Killers and The Shins all move into the top twenty. I'd like them all in the top ten, but I don't care really if Adele makes it or not. The other two though should rise even more next week. Also very pleased about the jump for Maximo Park, more like that please.
Fantastic set of debuts, how could it not be with Carry On getting in there. Knowing how you feel about it I don't expect huge things from it, but gosh it'd be nice if it could maybe get at least top twenty. That's my tentative hopes, of course if it shoots to #20 next week I'll reassess and start hoping for #1. Also very thrilled to see SHM debut, but you have it too low as well, I'm hoping for top ten for that one, just because. Kimbra's song is probably good, I haven't heard it but she's sorta not a TRASH! artist so I'm cool with it in. And I liked the Rudimental song too, but I don't know if it will fit into my chart just yet.
Oh no, it looks like you have your debuts in the wrong order I hope Carry On can have a run at least as good as Some Nights! Nice to see SHM debuting, as well as rises for Birds Of Tokyo and Adele.
Well I'll guess I'll be my predictable self and go: DYWC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But seriously, i thought it would never chart for you, so I really can't be any more happy. I predict it'll have a more We'll Be Coming Back style run.
Also great to see Carry On debut, and the excellent rise of This Fire into the top 10! I did beat you in that department though Excellent to see Sweet Life doing well, I'm hoping for EOY top 50.
I've heard all of the debuts bar Kimbra and I'm happy. The #1 is brilliant, but atm it's being overshadowed by 'Synthetica' for me. Hopefully though Metric stay on top for a little longer. Although Atoms For Peace would totally make up for your Django issues Need to hear me some new Tame Impala outside of the first two singles.
Metric #1 for a 3rd week, possibly making it my favourite song at the moment. On the other hand, Owl Eyes still has to settle for 2nd best. Atoms For Peace make their stride though, up another place to #3, Poliça's rise being more notable, they halve their position to #5. The only other new peak in the top 10 sees Birds of Tokyo rise 1 spot to #8 with "This Fire".
Having to settle for #11 on the ARIA charts, and assumably 11th in the Oz Artist competition, Alpine are now settling for #11 here, with "Seeing Red" up 3 places, perhaps it could peak further though. Muse keep seeking another top 10 hit with "Follow Me" up a spot to #12. Adele & The Killers make decent rises with their current hits. Rudimental & Maxïmo Park both have the biggest rises of the week up 6 places to #21 & #23.
NEW ENTRIES
November is Aus music month and by sheer ko-in-sa-dins, all my entries this week are Australian Sugar Army recently hit the top 10 in their 17th week, so they'll be hoping to do it a bit faster this time with new entry "Will You Follow" at #20. It's their 3rd chart entry. A band that seem as though they've been around for ages but have never impacted the chart, Hungry Kids of Hungary, have just now done that! "Sharp Shooter" is in at #29. "Caress Your Soul" was a slow burner which made it suffer in its peak but Sticky Fingers have already almost matched it with new single "Clouds & Cream" at #35.

Go This Fire! Good rise for Don't You Worry Child by your standards too. The fact that it's risen double the amount of Carry On's rise shows that is making some very solid progress! Great to see Little Talks had an excellent run, along with Runaways.
Nice to see Metric remaining on top, but I'm not thrilled to see trash breaking into the top five, even if it's on the verge of non-TRASH!dom. Same deal for all three of the debuts. Still I am pleased about the continual rises for Alpine, Muse, The Killers, Adele, The Shins, Maximo Park and Birds of Tokyo as well as the new rises for Fun, SHM and Rudimental.
Realistically only Poliça could be the band to worry Atoms For Peace now, come on Default! That being said, Speed The Collapse is doing nicely and I'm lovin' it. All those debuts are TRASH!y but by non-TRASH!y artists, dilemma Am thoroughly saddened to see Boy's departure. Muse for top 10 next week? All I know is most of my favs are down, and the making of one's bed and lying on it is the only way this can be redeemed
Oh what, a curveball? In the days leading up to this, I had a different result in mind, but on the day, it changed. Of Monsters & Men surge back up the chart to claim #1 with "Mountain Sound". This is the 79th #1, and unsurprisingly, the first from Iceland! Poliça could've been #1, but they've had to settle for a rise to #2 this week. Atoms For Peace hold at their #3 peak, and last week's #1 "Speed The Collapse" is down to #4. Birds of Tokyo are looking for another top 5 hit, "This Fire" is up 2 places to #6. Alpine have their 2nd top 10 hit with "Seeing Red" up 2 places to #9. Muse finally add one to their much larger tally with "Follow Me" also up 2 places.
Sugar Army look to be approaching the top 10 much faster than last time, "Will You Follow" is up 4 places to #16. Maxïmo Park & Rudimental both climb up to the top 20 this week, and the biggest rise of the week? Sticky Fingers up 5 places to #30 with "Clouds & Cream", becoming their highest charter.

So there's this one hit wonder. The only catch? They've only charted once and it wasn't with 'that' hit. This applies to both my own chart and the ARIA chart. And as of this week, the ante has been increased as on both accounts they've added another to the tally, which looks set toplace even higher to the point that they could look like a one hit wonder with this new song with people forgetting about that more popular song because it never charted. Confused? Well Flight Facilities are that artist and after a year out of action, they crash into the chart in a big way with "Clair de lune" entering at #12. I don't have much to say about this band. They're Australian and just like last week, all my debuts are! Cub Scouts make their debut to the chart with "Told You So" at #25. I have a semi-grudge against this band, and I didn't expect to find myself charting them this year, but the brass won me over! Oh Mercy score their 2nd entry to date with "My Man" at #38.
Yeah, that is a curveball, not that I'd have expected Dark Star to be on top either, but I'd have rated it more of a chance than Mountain Sound. Still, I like all of My Head Is An Animal, and Mountain Sound is one of the stronger tracks, so I'm pleased it's made it there. It's not often that the previous #1 falls so far either, a very unlike you top five this week.
Nice to see Birds Of Tokyo closing in on the top five, hope they can grab it next week. Also happy to see Alpine and Muse hit the top ten, I hope Muse can keep going. Also liking the gains for Adele, The Killers, Rudimental, Maximo Park, Kimbra, Hungry Hungary, SHM and Fun.
I was indeed promised all Aussie debuts, but these are not the ones I was hoping for, where are Delts, Ruffy and Reece (not cool enough to get an affectionate nickname)? Instead you've piled on triple TRASH! and one of them is way too high for TRASH! particularly when the featuring artist is using a surname, who does that!? Either go by a first name only, or go by a bird related nickname. You're going nowhere fast Hoberg!
I feel like Thrifty is in the pretend part of the chart that doesn't really exist. Sad to see Runaways fall there too.

Of Monsters & Men top and tail of the chart this week, "Mountain Sound" holds at #1 for a 2nd week, and "Little Talks" pops back in at #40. This leaves Poliça stuck at #2 for a 2nd week, and Atoms For Peace stuck at #3 for a 3rd week! Owl Eyes is back up a spot and Birds of Tokyo snatch a new peak of #5 with "This Fire". Big movers of the week (relatively speaking) are Flight Facilities and Sugar Army. Flight Facilities jump right into the top 10 at #7 in their 2nd week, and Sugar Army make a handy 6 place jump to make the top 10 with "Will You Follow", significantly faster than "Hooks For Hands" did.

It's not a single but I don't care, I love it! The Gaslight Anthem replace themselves in the chart as "Handwritten" leaves this week and "Biloxi Parish" replaces it. It's in at #22 and is their 5th chart entry. It's not a single but I don't care, I love it! It was criminal that I hadn't charted him beforehand, so now I'm making up for that. The Weeknd is in at #[s]28[/s]30 with "Twenty Eight". I don't care, I'm charting it
I really feel like Atoms For Peace is going to miss out now, sadface. I wonder why you've never charted The Weeknd before, oh that's right, your chart has weird rules Macklemore is cool, poor Metric though. Cool to see OM&M back in.
Great to see Mountain Sound remain on top this week, Dark Star is still lurking though and looks like it could pinch it next time round. I'm hoping not because I prefer Mountain Sound, but I didn't mind Dark Star either so I wouldn't shed any tears. Actually, your chart has never made me cry.
Awesome to see This Fire make it to the top five, I hope it can keep rising but I don't think it had much momentum left, maybe one or two more places at most is my prediction. Clair De Lune seems set for #1, I think it's probably a rule that it has to now, but since Hoberg can apparently flaunt her rule-breaking in our faces with her Hoberg ways, perhaps you can break that rule too? And would that rule mean I have to make Ho Hey #1? Or A Thousand Years?
Nice to see The Killers still on the rise, but it's a bit slow for my liking now, same for Maximo Park who started with great momentum but that is dwindling. Also good to see Rudimental, Kimbra, Hungry Kids, SHM and Mehdele moving up.
Loving the huge entry for Biloxi Parish, I'll definitely chart it well if it's a single, but not otherwise. Interesting that you say it's not a single but can't seem to understand what makes something a single or not a single these days, hmmmm? I hope it can go top ten at least anyways, or perhaps even higher since you obviously like it a lot. Also loving the Thrifty entry, I knew it was on the verge of entering but I didn't know if you'd actually do it or not, yay that you did!
If someone were to tell me 'Don't go, tell me that the #1 position on the weekly chart that you write has changed', I would be able to tell them that it has changed! If that awkwardly stilted quote made any sense to you, you probably know what the result is. If you don't, you should now because it's Flight Facilities' "Clair de lune" featuring Christine Hoberg on vocals. Reasonably fitting for Aus music month that I finally have another Australian #1. But not as fitting as it could be, as it's mehly the 80th #1 on the chart. Poor Poliça are stuck at #2 for a 3rd week. They really had a chance this week too. Of Monsters and Men drop back 2 spots to #3. The only other rise in the top 10 is for Sugar Army who are up 2 places to #8 with "Will You Follow". The Weeknd's "Twenty Eight" makes a healthy 7 place climb to #23, and Franky's back at a new peak. What an unbalanced commentary this week.
NEW ENTRIES
I'm shocked to say that this is the 4th time I'm charting them in just barely over a year, but damn if they can't keep winning me over with good songs. San Cisco are in at #20 with "Beach", which is their 2nd top 20 hit. It's taken a lot of saturation for me to get into this, but I'm finally very much enjoying "Holdin On", so Flume enters at #37.

Clair de lune (feat Christine Hoberg) {1 Week @ #1}
I quite like Clair De Lune atm so nice to see that at #1. But Hoberg is an odd surname. Good to see BoT holding on to a spot in the top five as well. Elsewhere nice re-entry for Frank Ocean and Thrift Shop is just stuck in my head so nice peak for that too.
You know, I had a feeling that FliFac would take it out. Atoms For Peace are really good, particularly 'Default', but clearly Thom has been lying in his bed (the one he made) too long and thus this excess of inactivity has led to the song slipping down. I can't really remember exactly how either Dark Star and Mountain Sound, but I'm sure that Clair de lune is superior. I hope to see a nice run for it on top. In terms of debuts, I need to hear the San Cisco song but I know/like Flume. And NCITW and MIA aside, that is my favourite song of him. Macklemore up is another cool thing happening too I guess, but it looks out of place somehow Actually, come to think of it, it looks out of place everywhere Sugar Army could be the next #1.
Mountain Sound has a good rhythm. Great run for Hurricane ... Bones didn't have the same effect for me. Nice to see Follow Me make the Top 10. I've quite liked Apocalypse Dreams too. 'Little Talks' didn't grab me until it was climbing well in our charts. You were faithful from the start, constantly rising up to 12 weeks! Good run so far for Not Giving In. Glad that Feel The Love went well for you. So I picked Twenty Eight at random from your chart for a listen. It is kind of nice, not what I expected.
Shame to see Mountain Sound lose the top, anyway good rises for just British India , I hope Skyfall can at least crack the top ten but it looks to be stalling.
The quote didn't make sense to me, but I semi-expected Loony to get there, just perhaps not this week. I liked OM&M being there better naturally. Nice to see a specific fire still in the top five.
Nice to see Rudimental, Maximo Park and The Gaslight Anthem all still rising, but what's not so nice is that they all rise at the expense of Miss Atomic Bomb and she falls. I was hoping it could creep into the top ten, maybe when you decide to random chart your album track faves they can get in there. Great jump for Thrifty too.
I like the San Cisco album, but they're one of the semi-TRASH! situations, I couldn't name that song out of a line-up, I presume it's cool though. Nice to see Frank Ocean back in, wow it's had a crappy run so far though, that surprises me considering how rapt you were when I mentioned I liked it and might chart it. But yay for random old song re-entries! STIUTK? Holdin On is growing on me too, I could almost say I like it now.
Well, I'm glad that Carry On didn't fall out the very next week, but I am a bit bummed that this week may be its last. The consistent rises for Adele and Birds of Tokyo over the last few weeks is also pleasing. Despite the moments of Because I Got High-ness that I'm not a huge fan on, Thrift Shop is growing on me, so I hope to see it continue to rise. I haven't found Nt Giving In as instantly enjoyable as Feel The Love, but I think it will also be a grower. Good to see SHM making an appearance also.
Flight Facilities are still #1! Sugar Army get their first top 5 hit, San Cisco match their "Awkward" peak, and The Weeknd makes the top 20.
NEW ENTRIES
I've unleashed it, I've arrived at it perhaps, I've finally stopped denying it. It's "Panic Station" at #7 of course. I had a "Video Games" moment with this song, but it's only really the chorus so don't expect anything as major. Dune via Spender are/is/whatever at #29 with "Black Sand". The Collective suck but this doesn't. Ball Park Music get a 2nd entry to date with "Coming Down" at #38.

Loony is still on top, ho hum. I'm hoping that with the huge Muse debut, they can get there very soon, like maybe next week. So far their peaks have been relatively disappointing in comparison to what I was expecting them to do here. Anyway, Panic Station is very cool, so I would love for it to go all the way.
Nice to see The Gaslight Anthem on the verge of the top ten, hoping to see that next week. I'd also like to see Maximo Park get there, but momentum seems to have been lost and it may not. Also nice jumps for San Cisco, Thrifty, Tame Impala, Frank Ocean and Flume.
The two debuts that are not Muse are natural TRASH! in all its forms. Even the promise of one being Video Games-ish in part can't make me approve of TRASH! Gotye won ARIAs, why is he not charting? One Direction too. Missy Higgins? So many people who are clearly more deserving of charting than these nobodies. Seriously though, I was actually thinking we'd potentially have two debuts in common, yet we have none. I had no basis for thinking this, it was just a feeling.
PANIC STATION Awesome to see it enter in your charts! #1 soon? I will probably chart Panic Station next year (2013). Anyway, great Top 11, and awesome to see San Cisco, Rudimental, Adele, Thrift Shop , Frank Ocean, Tame Impala, Mumford, Swedish House Mafia (hope it can somehow rebound), Flume and Fun all in. Last edited:
I now really like Clair de Lune so cool to see it holding on. Great to see Thrift Shop and Thinkin Bout You moving up!! Hope they keep going. Agreed with the ouch drop for Skyfall poor Adele.
1: Clair de lune is a lovely track that is amazing to listen to on a drive home at night. I hope it has a long run at top.
2: Dark Star is fine but I forget how it goes. Maybe I need to hear it again.
3: Default is an awesome track which needs to be higher than Dark Star I need to give their album a listen when it comes out, if it hasn't already [/Ipayattention ]. It would so fit easily on The King of Limbs.
4: I just listened to Mountain Sound again and it's still not doing a whole lot for me.
5: Will You Follow. Just heard it and I'm impressed.
6: I hear This Fire on pretty much every radio station and I'm quite sick of it tbh It's nice but nothing on their first three singles from self-titled. Maybe next year's oddly-titled album will produce something greater for me to enjoy over a longer period of time.
7: Now hold on a second, Panic Station was released ages ago! This is why I dislike the singles rule that most people seem to have here: what's the point of holding songs back just because they're not singles, especially if you end up charting them anyway? It's not even a single yet. A great track, but it's peaked for me I'd still like to see them get higher though. And even if you object to what I'm arguing, if I prepared my chart upon the same basis, Muse would be still without a #1 and instead The Soft Moon would have made it.
8: Love Run Dry has waned on a little bit sadly, thus it'd be my fourth favourite song from her.
9: Speed The Collapse was quite unfortunate for me in that I got into Synthetica at pretty much the same time and then the latter overtook it.
10: I heard Seeing Red on the J's the other day and I still like it.
11: Sweet Life is fine, but !!! have a song of the same name that is possibly better
12: I'm listening to Biloxi Parish now and I must say I like the film clip. Cool rock track.
13: Oh I heard Bones on the J's too, nowhere near as good as Hurricane.
14: Listening to Write This Down now. The lead singer looks like Sacha Baron Cohen and I can't shake it The song is fine though.
15: Listening to Beach now and it's quite cool.
16: I definitely stuck with Told You So and I do like it now. Hope it can get top 10 eventually.
17: Not Giving In is definitely better than Feel The Love, but not enough for me to like it a lot.
18: I still don't think all that much of Follow Me, it's fine, but one of the album's disappointments.
19: Skyfall is a great track, right up there with her best. Shame to see fall six places.
20: It sounds a lot like Usher/Derulo etc., just sayin'
21: Having now heard Miss Atomic Bomb, it's fine but no Runaways.
22: Still dislike this.
23: Great to see Thrifty up I certainly can't see myself charting it that high though
24: Wow weird. Good though.
25: I keep on missing it on the J's
26: Hurricane is nice, shame to see it down but I suppose it's definitely had a fair run.
27: I still don't think it's better than the previous two singles
28: I charted it too high imo, nothing great. Maybe I'm a little bit over them now.
29: Surprised by this actually.
30: Remember the time where we reviewed this all at the same time? Things were different in those days
31: still don't see the big deal
32: It's easy to forget that you're charting two of theirs at the moment, this was good but I probably prefer Will You Follow.
33: This one is better than Caress Your [s]Love[/s] Soul
34: I think this has waned on me a little bit! I even liked it so much I influenced Liam to start scrobbling it lololol One of the better electronic releases of the year though.
35: Nothing on Myth still but what a run it has had!
36: And twenty plus for this one too! I don't love it that much and I heard it the other day for the first time in a few weeks and it's still solid.
37: A much stronger song than March Into The Ocean but why can't they release an album?!?!
38: Much more cromulent than any other Coming Down by a band that has a song called Surrender that is better than the song of the same title by that rubbish thing from x fater despite what you and whatshisface keep saying to me.
"Clair de lune" keeps it up for a 3rd week in a row. All without much trouble in fact, but there's plenty going on lower down. Atoms For Peace snag a new peak of #2 with "Default", and Sugar Army continue their climb with "Will You Follow", now at #4. Muse's "Panic Station" is up a spot too. New to the top 10 is The Gaslight Anthem's "Biloxi Parish" it's up 3 places to #9 and is their 2nd top 10 hit. San Cisco are aiming for their 1st with "Beach" up 4 places to #11.
NEW ENTRIES
The start of 2010 was nearly 3 years ago! Back then, one particular band (and numerous others) dominated with numerous entries at once. And now, Delphic are finally back on the chart! "Baiya" is in at #17 and is their 5th entry to date. I considered maybe charting a different song from the album, but then I recently discovered that this one has a clip (and an odd one at that). Beach House have dominated the chart this year with 2 songs and now they add a 3rd. "Wild" is in at #18. OK I like Flume now But in particular this track. "On Top" is in at #28 and is his 2nd entry.

Definitley need to check out Mountain Sound. We might share another song. Cause it looks like I Will Wait will not be waiting too much longer to be the shared song.
So I'm starting to dig Loony, obviously this is now its last week on top? That's probably for the best anyway; I don't know how you could have something with such explicit language at #1!?
Nice to see Muse up a place, though I was expecting them to gain more after the big entry, though maybe it's very close at the top. Great to see Biloxi into the top ten, also good jumps for San Cisco, Maximo Park, Thrifty and Frank. Perhaps Maximo could still get top ten, go, go, go!
There was some TRASH! here for a bit, but I had a cleaning frenzy earlier in the week and cleaned your chart for you, YOU'RE WELCOME! The Flume song I didn't like much, the Beach House song was okay, but the Delphic song was very cool and easily the best of the bunch. I might even listen to it a second time, who knows!?
I would love to see Atoms For Peace get #1, but at the moment the top two looks great! Rises for Thrifty, Sugar Army, Dune via Spender and Muse are cool. Ouch for Kimbra! SHM staying in too long
Great to see Clair De Lune still holding the top spot and also good to see Thrift Shop still moving up. Also liking the upward movement for Thinkin' Bout You. Yay.
"Clair de lune" is still #1 of course! 4 weeks running now. Does it have competitors? Plenty! Atoms For Peace hold strong at #2, but then Sugar Army are up to #3, and Muse are right behind them at #4! Poliça slip down to #5. After a little over a year of chart action, San Cisco score their first top 10 hit, with "Beach" rising to #9. Dune via Spender get the biggest rise of the week with "Black Sand" up 8 places to #18 because it totally clicked with me again
NEW ENTRIES
It's December! This means that the internet is flooded with lists upon lists of albums ranked in different orders by different people. And luckily they do it early enough in the year for me to use it as a chance to catch up and pretend I was on the ball all year. With that in mind, I can completely pretend that this came from an album from the start of the year, but wow! I've just been addicted to this song for the past week. The song in question is "Wasted Days" by Cloud Nothings which comes in at a healthy #6. This is a very belated entry so I don't know if it will be able to rise from here. Also Aussie band Gold Fields are having minor US success with this song: "Dark Again (Lights Out)". It's quite catchy and enters at #36 this week.

A mixed week this week - pleasing rises for Swedish House Mafia and Macklemore, but a shame to see Birds of Tokyo, Adele, Mumfords and Rudimental all down. Last edited:
More TRASH!? Hmm. Out of the top four, I don't really care what gets #1 all that much, but Panic Station would be great Cool rises for Cub Scouts, Macklemore, BPM, Kimbra, Dune via Spender, San Cisco and Sugar Army.
I like that Thrift Shop and Thinkin Bout You are still going. Sad to see the big drop for Not Giving In (although I can't say much because it's dropping fast for me too). Glad that Clare de Lune is still on top!
I like that Loony is still #1, hopefully it can hang on unless Panic Station is going to take over. Nothing else I'd like there is close enough; you have had #1 debuts before though, go Ho Hey!? Besides, you just had a TRASH! top ten debut, surely some non-TRASH! can debut in there too?
Nice to see The Gaslight Anthem still creeping up and San Cisco hitting the top ten. I also like the jumps for Delphic, Thrifty, Tame Impala and Frank Ocean. I am however sad that Miss Atomic Bomb is disappearing so fast. Time for an album track to chart, or Here With Me maybe?
I am also sad about the aforementioned debut of TRASH! within the top ten. I'm also upset about the lower placed TRASH! debut but I have kind of become accustomed to that happening, so it's less bothersome.
Flight Facilities make it 5 weeks, have you heard the song yet? It's pretty fantastic. Muse become their closest competitors, "Panic Station" is now up to #2 and trying to become their 4th #1. This keeps Sugar Army at bay at #3, and Atoms For Peace drop back to #4. Cloud Nothings sneak into the top 5 with "Wasted Days". San Cisco keep on climbing, with "Beach" up 3 places to #6. Dune via Spender has the biggest rise of the week again, with "Black Sand" up 8 places to #10.
NEW ENTRIES
Ooh I like this album a lot, and particularly this song. The Killers notch up a 5th chart entry with "Battle Born" at #19. The last time I charted this band, it was around the end of last year. I did the same thing with The John Steel Singers in the two years before that, so Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! fill in that role with "Codebreaker" in at #29. Aww, I can't say I have any personal connection to the issue, but I find the lyrics very compelling with getting it across. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have a 2nd song in the chart now with "Same Love" at #38.

If I turn your chart upside down, I'd be able to write about all the songs I like that are moving upwards, but in reality, all the songs that I like fall this week. I am surprised at how many people are charting "Same Love", so much so that I am going to listen to it now.
And I did. It is quite a nice song. I am glad that it had debuted this week. Hopefully it will rise next week! Last edited:
Haha, just as I'm starting to feel that I'd possibly prefer Loony on top, the song I've been rooting for to knock it off for weeks is looking ready to do just that. I guess the good thing is that either way I'll be quite happy with the #1, unless something else comes along and trolls.
Nice jumps for San Cisco, The Gaslight Anthem, Delphic, Tame Impala, Frank Ocean and Gold Fields. Write This Down dropping means I officially give up on that hitting top ten, time for something else from The National Health to debut; personally I'd plump for Reluctant Love, but I'm not sure that's your speed, maybe another listen is in order?
As for the debuts, wow! You did what I said and what I wanted! Amazzing! Loving the debut for Same Love obviously, hopefully it can at least match Thrifty. I guess it's okay that The Killers debuted too, I mean they're not a TRASH! band, thanks WYWY! I'd be okay with it if Battle Born went up a bit from here. The other debut is TRASH! though and should be set on fire or something; where are The Janoskians when you need them. At least Bella Ferraro knows where she stands!

This is the first time I can say that I've done 53 charts in a year. In any case, let's see this one as a freebie week because it's not a particularly exciting one. Flight Facilities notch up their 6th week at #1 with "Clair de lune", keeping Muse at bay again. Cloud Nothings slide up for contention though, "Wasted Days" is up 2 places to #3. Sugar Army are pushed down a spot to #4, and San Cisco reach the top 5 for the first time ever with "Beach". More movement just below, with the assistance of Spender, Dune is up to #6 with "Black Sand", and Delphic are still right behind with "Baiya" up 4 spots to #7.
NEW ENTRY
Yeah so it's a slow week, I've only got one this week. It comes from Haim. I took a while to warm to their previous single "Forever", but this one just clicked with me this week. "Don't Save Me" becomes their first charting effort at #35.

Great to see FF still at top - it's their best song so far. Hope Muse is your next #1... Great to see Beach enter the Top 5, and it's also good to see Birds Of Tokyo, The Killers, Tame Impala, Thrift Shop , Frank Ocean, Alpine, Flume, Adele, Rudimental, Muse, and Swedish House Mafia. Hope Pyramids can reach 26 week...
Great to see Loony still on top, I do want Muse to get there eventually, but I'm torn as to how soon; I guess I'll leave it up to you. Just don't let the other challengers push in.
Very pleased to see Delphic jump into the top ten, a very fun track. Also good jumps for The Killers, Frank Ocean, Gold Fields and Macklemore.
Of course you debut Haim this week, you have a knack for doing this sort of thing; I'll explain that somewhere else. Regardless, it's TRASH! as you well know, and I just won't stand for it any longer. I don't want you to debut any more TRASH! for the rest of the year, got it? Random re-entries are always good.
I would like Muse to claim #1, or at the very least Cloud Nothings not to A shame that Sugar Army have tripped up somewhat. Like to see Tame, Fire!, Dune via Spender, Delphic and San Cisco advance in a northerly direction on the chart.
Well some chat regulars already know it, but for everyone else, it's finally here, my favourite songs of 2012! With My Hands
I did a similar thing last year, so if anyone's got a little time to kill, you can enjoy hearing a bit of all of these songs here:
Obviously, there are many songs that I have never heard of, but I am super pleased to see Some Nights in the top fifty. Other pleasing tracks include: Little Talks, Trembling Hands, Blue Jeans, I Will Wait, This Fire, Feel The Love, We Are Young, Warrior, In My Mind, Born To Die, Skyfall, Thrift Shop, Not Giving In, Black White & Blue and Miss Atomic Bomb.
So in conclusion, I know 16% of your EOY chart, which is more than I was expecting. What's even better, I like 100% of that 16%!
Yay for Love Run Dry, Mountain Sound, Little Talks, Speed The Collapse, 45, Sunday Drive, Comeback Kid, Runaways, Trembling Hands, I Can Make You Love Me, Blue Jeans, I Will Wait, This Fire, Feel The Love, Some Nights, We Are Young, In My Mind, My Gun, Super Rich Kids, Born To Die, Skyfall, Summertime Sadness, Everybody Talks, Handwritten, Black, White & Blue & Miss Atomic Bomb.
Well, I'm glad to say that everything in your list was de-TRASH!ed before you even posted it, now that's efficiency! I'm also pleased that I correctly predicted Word Salad at #1, glad it beat out Myth and Hurricane as it's my favourite of the three.
Aside from Word Salad, I was happiest to see Loony and Mountain Sound make the top ten. I had been hoping 45, Simple Song, Comeback Kid and Little Talks could make it, but they still placed quite well. Also thrilled about the placings for Metric, Muse, Mumfords, British India, BoT and Lana within the top fifty.
Really though, you know what I like in here so I'm not gonna list them all. But I will say that it's awesome that my favourite three songs of the year all made the top fifty, even though they were of course backwards. A great EOY list!
I was considering putting this in your new thread, but meh.
I'm sorta unfamiliar with the ordering of the bottom end because I missed it Still though, of the bottom 25, only Born To Lose I don't like (and the Dappled Cities one is a bit meh) but my favourites would be Survival, Paddling Out, Skyfall and Take a Walk. 23/25
An interesting mix of songs in the 51-75 bracket. That Alpine song is a grower I must admit, but my favourites from this group would be R U Mine?, Angels, Synthetica and Told You So. Just meh to Adrian Lux, SRK, Grimes 22/25
I was more familiar with these ones. I still just adore Patricia's Thirst, but also Some Nights, Dead and Gone and Trembling Hands are rather good. Just THAT song. 24/25
Wasn't expecting it tbh! I really thought it would be either The Woods or Myth, didn't really think HFCS would be even top 3. In any case, yay Wasn't impressed by that Cloud Nothings song, otherwise (except for You-Know-Who ) it's a good lot. The top two + Back Of Your Neck, Default, Comeback Kid, Apocalypse Dreams and Panic Station are all great. 22/25
Overall, an excellent list and looking forward to doing it all again this year. Rummie obviously my favourite of the bunch. 91/100
