Sub-note: "The Edge of Glory" by Lady Gaga and "Don't Worry Be Happy" by Guy Sebastian hit #1 on 11/05/2011 and 22/11/2011 respectively but did not complete the day at #1 and are thus not included. Last edited:
Considering its less than spectacular performance in tehe UK, Ip;m not surprised Australia for the time being is skipping Goota Be You. They probably want to at least keep the momentum going, I imagine if One Thing is a decent size hit, we will get Gotta Be You as the third single.
@BillyBrett - Yes, probably. I see that they are an independent group using CDBaby for distribution. I know it prompts you to make sure you have the rights when releasing a cover, even suggesting how to get those rights. I guess they ignored it.

@BillyBrett: SFTTR has about 4/7 of the airplay WFL has at the moment. However, SFTTR is rising really fast and probably will be high enough to take the Hot 100 #1 within a few weeks.

This is a disturbing change. Australia is annoying me at the moment. Why do they like song like:
Somebody That I Used To Know Lonely Boy Brother Hangover Hey Hey Hey (Pop Another Bottle) Sexy And I Know It Party Rock Anthem Pumped Up Kicks What Makes You Beautiful Take Care Count On Me
12. Brother (keep going! would be an awesome suprise #1!) 19. Boys Like You 35. Internet Friends 38. Drive By 43. Throw Your Hands Up 45. I Wont Let You Go 66. Better Than I Know Myself (2nd wind?) 68. Talk That Talk 115. No Light, No Light
I would say Better Than I Know Myself initially suffered from being rush released because of an apparent leak of the song. In reality Australia had no idea of the song, especially radio. Now that radio is finally playing it (assuming I haven't heard it on radio), Australia is now aware of its existence. This is where record companies are failing many artists witht their first release of new material. I think they succumb to the ardent fans to much with the same day release same day airplay. While that might help with a high debut it doesn't help the song in the long term and actually may give the song a Glee like run. They would be better off releasing the song to radio and then releasing it for purchase a couple of weeks later to allow the general public time to hear the song (like the good old days of physical singles). This concept is of course totally different to a record company refusing to let a song chart when it is selling enough in the hopes it improves the next week to get a bigger debut.
Different note: Matt Corby is a bit hard to predict where he will land cause Brother is at #12 but Into The Flames EP is #1 on iTunes Albums. And as we all know what is charting on the Single chart is Into The Flames EP. While I'm not a fan of Corby's personality and attitude, I will concede that Brother is his most accesible release, so good on him finally having some success. Can he get Season 5 Australian Idol their missing #1? Last edited:
Nicki Minaj has a new video now, her lead single 'Stupid Hoe'. Very weird actually (both song and video), but not as good as anything on her previous album (Pink Friday). I dunno, just saying this could be a flop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6j4f8cHBIM

Can someone explain why Daryl Braithwaite's The Horses has become a permananent fixture in the iTunes Top 200. I think I asked once before if this song was being played anywhere in particular like an ad or something but can't remember the answer.
I love the song but I don't understand why such an old song is selling enough every day to be in the Top 200 compared to other great old songs.

Bravo, with Take Care in the top 10 (and now at #8), we have a chance to get Set It Off out of the top 10 having stayed there only 3 weeks. Battle for next Australian ARIA #1 is a free-for-all too.
Oh, these things happened too:
24. Skrillex - Bangarang 33. Knife Party - Internet Friends 48. Grouplove - Tongue Tied 49. (+182) LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem 53. Rihanna - Talk That Talk Last edited:
What's My Name also suffered from peaking during the high selling Christmas sales period, there were 40 chart debuts that month, and many were instant top 10 hits. Take Care has had it easy since this month so far, we've only had 11 chart entries, and only 1 of them has gotten higher than #50.
In other news, STIUTK is:
#3 in Canada with WOTE being #2 #9 in UK #19 in USA Last edited:

I would just like to express how annoying I find it that australia is so behind on glee, ive been watching online with the US anyways but still :/
Still they don't get as many debuts as they used to, They used to get every song from every episode in season 2 iirc, Obviously Australia is moving on.
Plus if you look statistically when Australia falls behind in viewing the song sales don't do as well as when an episode airs soon after America.
Plus the first half of Season 3 saw sales split over a 2 week sale period. Once we get caught up with the US combined with the fact the show is airing on a Friday may help Glee return to charting more hits and possibly more in the Top 50 as well.
We Are Young also has the benefit of not being on Volume 7, so it may have legs enough to crack the Top 50 next week.
What to know how jaded I've become with the chart? The posts about Ed Sheeran's Drunk made me instantly think. "Yep, the only way to get a hit these days is to have an alcohol related song title, it will catcth the eye of party goers who will download it without listening"
And for the record I haven't heard Ed's song, so for all I know he could be drunk on love. So I'm not dissing Ed (atm).
Perhaps Ass Back Home could be a contender for the top spot given how fast it's rising, helped by a reduction in price. Won't be surprised if it's #2 tomorrow night.
Has We Are Young become an officially pushed song in the US after its promotion in Glee? Or is it being used as a tv theme for the renewed interest. Just curious. I was under the impression this was a forgotten song of 2011 and interested in knowing why it has 'come out of nowhere'

Chris Brown's 1st Single of Fortune is in the top 100. If you thought Strip was first single you were originally right until the label was dissatisfied with it's minimal success. Now strip is only a "Buzz" single

I have no clue if Whitney Houston will be denied. To date she would have x2 ARIA re-entries both were denied. Her best of will be #01 on teh album chart this sunday if I Will Always Love You is allowed it will re-enter at #01 or #02
Whitney won't be denied as her record company is Sony. The latter allowed Michael Jackson tracks to chart after his death.
Not sure about I Will Always Love You getting into the Top 3 as it only started to surge on sunday and chart tracking began on thursday.
Not sure about the #1 album either although it wouldn't be a surprise. She'll be #1 digitally but record stores may not have enough copies of her albums to meet the demand. #1 will be between her and Adele methinks.
My guess is Sony will tell ARIA to allow Whitney to chart. ARIA doesn't decide what will chart or not, they get told from the companies if a song should count towards the chart. As a previous poster said, Sony let all those MJ songs chart so they should let these Whitney songs chart. It allows plenty of free advertising about Whitney albums.

Stupid livepopbars being behind, still has Nicki at #57. Hopefully she's the next number one. Sooo much better than Katy and Breezy put together! Is she still at #33 or is she up again?
honestly if chris/nicki/katy is to be our next top 3, that will be the greatest top 3 in a long time; this weeks been pretty big in terms of releases too
And having Wild Ones at #4 and Ass Back Home, that would be the best top 5 we have had in a veryy long time. All 3 of the contenders are great! But both Katy and Breezy have been there before, hopefully Nicki has her first #1 here. Katy's song for the record is the second best she's released behind Teenage Dream. Just saying.
Most of the top 10 is bad, horrifically bad, disgustingly bad, in particularly that top 4, but I've forgiven the whole crapness of the chart due to the song at #79.
It's fallen ONE SPOT to #80!!!! I'm un-forgiving this chart now. Last edited:
Question: On ARIA Glee Cast are in the Chart with We Are Young but on ITunes it's Fun. with We Are Young. Are they the same thing because Glee Casts is no where in the ITunes Top 100?
Just when I thought Gotye has lost most of its momentum due to Whitney, it has managed to claw its way back to #1 in the World Chart (#2 Part of Me) and the UK with a very very narrow lead. Somebody That I Used To Know has rebounded to #11 and is fighting One Direction for a spot in the top 10 in the US.
On a positive note, Boys Like You is back ahead of Part Of Me.

Ass Back Home is such a mediocre, unmemorable song, it seems like pop music is in a dip atm. Wow We Are Young I remember keeping an eye on this track as it rose towards the top 200 a couple of months ago, but then it dropped out of the top 1000 altogether and I thought that was the end of it, but what a come back!
Ass Back Home is available for only $1.19. We Are Young & Fight For You are also discounted. Summer Paradise, Count On Me and Bangarang also cost $ 1.19. Some Sony tracks like International Love and Drive By are also discounted.
Looks like Warner and Sony have found a good marketing startegy to push their potential hits into the Top 10 quickly... Last edited:
I went to buy Carly Rae's Call Me Maybe and its been removed. Grr knew I should have bought it last week. Guess this now means the record company aims to actively push it now. Which I guess is a goodthing.
If One Direction already climb this much just because of the announce oif their upcoming visit in April, I daren't even imagine the effect once they are in Australia. Perhaps something similar to Justin Bieber two years ago.
Moreover their tour takes place between April 13th and April 19th, so don't be surprised if they perform at the Logies, which will have an even bigger impact on their sales...
Getting rid of Hey Hey Hey can't be too bad though
Fun. are nearly #3, and interestingly are helping the Glee version stick around the #100 position. Oh and Call Me Maybe is back in at #61, so assumably it's going to fly up.
The important thing is that it could potentially push Part Of Me out of the top 10 temporarily, possibly long enough for Bangarang to overtake it, and that would be hilarious
Don't know how long this happened but congratulations for Somebody That I Used To Know being #1 on the World, World (Unweighted) and UK chart simulatenously.
At least we FINALLY have a song about someone throwing their hands up in the top 10. On that note, Qwote is down to #8 and Troublemaker is up to #9, maybe I'm too hopeful but perhaps the former could make its way out of the top 10 very quickly.
Also I'd rather Qwote go because it's already peaked, which means that it would stay out, rather than just linger and come back as soon as it needs to (like Part Of Me will eventually).
Make I make a suggestion that unless it's iTunes related, can we discuss official chart positions in the appropriate thread, there is a thread for the Billboard charts for example.
Yay, but Bruce Springsteen also has another version at #10, Gonna be very close i think, And i can't see a 2nd version in the top 120 for the Hilltop Hoods.
It may be close now, but I think HH's last album opened with about 20K sales, and Springsteen's with at least less than half that, so I'll assume the latter will slip as the week progresses.

Lights Out was released as a promo single or something on iTunes, but Rattling The Keys To The Kingdom has been receiving extensive airplay for about a month, but has not been on sale until now, so it shot up to become their first iTunes #1
Based upon my local Big W, the anticipation is HH to be #1 while Bruce will be #7. And we all know that Big W is much more reliable at predicting final places than iTunes LOL
Well the percentages are somewhat linearly based on release date I think, hence why nearly everything is over 90% and it's not until you get to the really old songs that the number starts to really drop off.

Message on live pop bars site tonight:
iTunes have stopped providing in-context pop bar information. I am going to see if I can get this back, but in the meantime this site will display the live rankings feed from iTunes without popularity bars. The albums and videos charts still work; the app will not work until the pop bars return. I can still get the pop bars back through more arcane methods, however this requires a complete rewrite of all my code and may take days or even weeks, so bare with me.

And anyone knows why Titanium rose to #39? Last edited:
Don't panic, this is most likely just the rabid fans needing it NOW. Just remember that Carly rae does have video sales AND 3 days of sales over Justin.
Having said that I do think Boyfriend wouldn't be the worse #1 we've had in the past 12 months if it gets there. Last edited:
But it's a big problem if this gets into the top 10, because then I won't be able to say that artists like Urban Cookie Collective & Selwyn are more successful than him due to having more top 10 hits

I signed up to this forum just to ask this question.
Is there a way of seeing exactly or even a general estimate of how many downloads are being downloaded by each artist. I know you could do it last year but that link has since been taken down.
I also cant believe Bieber is at #1 atm, I hope it goes down in time for Delta's release

I should be annoyed by Lego House being shunned again, but Never Let Me Go knocked Wild Ones out of the top 10 and is approximately #6 combined!!! Last edited:
Yes both are quite likely scenarios, Bieber's dropped a good 30% in the last 24 hours and I'm interested to see where it goes from here. And of course, the 2nd version could push LH into the top 10 on ARIA soon anyway. So much excitement in the charts atm!
Also, NLMG V1 is now #8 and midway between #5 & #6 with combined versions! Last edited:
If Bieber's frontpage ad goes away tomorrow morning, it may be the next song to leave the top 10, and also saving Fight For You AGAIN!

do you guys think delta's 'sitting on top of the world' will hit #1?
Its being released to radio on Thursday with the video clip premiering on friday. Will be released on April 13 on top of doing instores in Melbourne and Newcastle (so far) as well as a Logies performance and screening of The Voice on April 15. I'm expecting maximum exposure will get it to #1 but would like to hear what you guys think
You can see a snippet of the video clip on www.deltagoodrem.com
Don't worry about Gotye people, I expect a boost next week after Glee performs Somebody That I Used To Know. I know people will be disgusted at that thought but it is a credible cover even if it is performed between brothers, but the context seems all right even if I'm sure the writers just used the title as a justification for the use of it.

I have to say, I find Delta's song rather ordinary and nothing special. I really hope it stalls and doesn't go to #1.
What have I missed with Florence + the Machine. Why have they been rising? I am enjoying their music ATM.
Quite enjoy the top 10 (even top 20) ATM. Would like to see the over-rated Katy Perry fall on the charts. Seems like all her songs are hits and some have been deserved but her last offering has been one of the most songs ever.
Florence + The Machine have had Never Let Me Go used prominently in promos for the Titanic Anniversary (which was on Thursday I think which prompted the latest boost) television event next week. It also helps that it's a good song!
Ah cheers, I choose to believe that it was the ambiguity of the way it was talked about, rather than myself not paying attention that made me mix up the dates!
I only know the date of the sinking cause I am making an effort to watch the movie on the day it sunk. It was going to be in 3D at the theatres but no time suits me so it's home theatre for me. Last edited:
I checked the Itunes chart this morning and was very happy to see Delta at #12. I was expecting her to be much higher considering how fast she rose but am really happy that it looks like she wont debut at #1. Hopefully physical sales have been weak.
Furthermore, I guess I shouldn't speak to soon because I am sure she will promote it on some TV shows over the coming days but for now I am happy where the song is sitting.

I'm not a fan of all this silly Voice performances charting (especially if it carries over to the ARIA chart) but if it gives a song like La Vie En Rose a change to dent the ARIA chart I'm all for it
I think the reason why all those Voice recordings that are charting at the moment bugs me so much is that after watching last night, there really is nothing so special about these audition performances. It's almost like its a novelty to buy yhem and see how high it can chart. There was nothing in last night that even remotely made me say I need that song. There were a couple of performers that I though hmm I might like them to win so I can buy there stuff but I'm not going nuts to buy one audition song.
I'm all for this just because this chart needs a shake up. Even if I like most of the songs, the fact that 1/5th of the top 50 have been there for 20+ weeks is ridiculous, and I love an exciting chart. Only downside for the moment is Gold On The Ceiling being stuck outside the top 100 for the time being, but I'll happily accept that to see SAIKI out of the top 50
Also can iTunes change over the album of the week already? Just because Rihanna's selling poorly this year doesn't mean that she should get given a leg-up Last edited:
