So this is really book related, but movie-related will do.

Who has read The Hunger Games. Is anyone here obsessed? How far are you into it?

Have you seen the movie? What do you think?

Just wanting to see everyone's feelings on this one

Almost everyone I know is obsessed with it. I would love to see the movie one day but I haven't read the book yet (I own the book but haven't read it because I'm lazy )

I just need to post in here to say how shocked I am to see a movie related thread that isn't spam

I've heard good things about it but that's all my knowledge.

Yeah I know, thought I'd break the chain Hijinx! Maybe all the spam will be directed towards categories I don't care for at all... like General ... Awards hehe

But anyways, I'd be interested to see what people here think about it! I've heard good things about it as well, but I THINK good things about it too since I've crammed the books into the last two weeks and saw the movie yesterday.

Would definitely suggest the books over the movies at this tage.

I have never read the books, but i saw the movie, it was a very excellent movie, I wanna read the books now though...

I just read the books recently, I reckon it's better than the movie only because it allows you to piece everything together and gives more context, which the movie obviously can't do because of time constraints. Also it gives more history about Panem.

I'm halfway through the third book, hoping to finish it tonight

I saw the movie last week not expecting to like it, but it was quite good. I plan to read the books at some stage though, I generally think whatever came first is better, so I expect the books to be better than the movie. That said, I do still plan on seeing the upcoming movies.

The Hunger Games was actually nice and one that sure have gotten a lot of praise from critics and fans alike. And though it is not one to topple Harry Potter, LOTR and that twilight series, it sure made its own mark.

I guess that it is a little too conservative for most people so it would take quite some more to have the series penetrate the whole crowd easily.

I think by the time the next movie comes out, it will manage to outgross Twilight internationally - the hype might not be there, but there is actually quality with these movies, and the author is a far better writer than Stephanie Meyer imho.

Also the first movies of series generally don't do as well as their sequels. I mean, Twilight grossed well but nowhere near as much as its followups. Even big moneymakers like Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord Of The Rings and Shrek all grossed the least with their first movies. The problem with The Hunger Games was it's international gross, which will hopefully change by the time movie two comes around. Normally you'll get somewhere closer to a 50/50 split between USA and International Markets, but Hunger Games was more of a 60/40.

Well everyone I know read the book earlier (I'm to lazy) and ended up pissed saying the movie was shit I am an obsessed HP fan and like LOTR. I also like the twilight books but the mOvies are terrible even though I've seen every one at the movies

The Hunger Games Series begins within the coal mining space of Panem, District twelve. The story plot begins with the introduction of Katniss Everdeen, a woman from a nasty social unit WHO illicitly hunts for meals to feed her beloved ones. Throughout the Reaping, the event wherever tributes are going to be elite from every and each region, a boy from a medium-class social unit, Peeta Mellark, furthermore as Katniss' relative primula, has been chosen. Katniss offered herself simply to avoid wasting her sister.
