Just because an Australian hits number one on the US charts doesn't mean it is suddenly a different song and you all need to repurchase it or that suddenly the song you thought was either mediocre, sucked or just mildy entertaining is suddenly super awesome and needs to be bought. It s moments like this that makes me yearn for the era of physical singles.
I highly doubt people are repurchasing Somebody That I Used To Know Billy Brett. That would be incredibly stupid. The song is rising again only because it's getting media coverage again after it got to #1 in the US. This is exactly the same case as when people are buying a song after a performance on X Factor / The Voice or when an act tours the country. Last edited:
Whi;e the re-purchasing was said tongue in cheek, I still stand by my desire for the era of the physical single where stupid things like this couldn't happen. I hate it when performances create the same situation. I'm hating it with the Beaconsfield Ad. It bothered me when What Makes You Beautiful rebounded, in the past (and yes I do need to let go) when an act toured your eithered bought the album as the souvenir OR a new single was released to aid promotion.
If you wanted an older single you were forced to buy the album, a strategy that I usually hate, when it comes to a new single being flogged on radio, but for old songs I think it is perfectly legit marketing campaign.
The only time it doesn't bother me is when it is a new song eg Florence and Titanic.
I will admit that I can tolerate it more when it only charts in the lower 50, for my mind that doesn't count LOL.
But what this does show is the disconnect between the public and the people who contribute to the ARIA charts.
stop whinging. what is wrong with the top 100 best selling songs of the week being the top 100? Sounds pretty acurate reflection of people's taste if you ask me. If you want you can create your own current chart by removing all of the songs that were release greater than a year (i.e. 52 weeks ago) to take out all of the old songs Last edited:
I can see why it annoys you BillyBrett but I'm with happypeople. With the digital era, we now have a TRUE reflection of people's taste, much more than the physical era.

What do you mean? If you're referring to the RSS feed that usually shows the top 1000, but now shows the top 1, you should change the URL so it says limit=100, for whatever reason, that's the best we can get.
- yeah I had to look twice to believe it. And with the corresponding massive drops of one direction singles, clearly the teen girls have found a new idol. What difference a week makes in high school....
#3 Big Jet Plane - Lakyn Heperi ..... Does this mean that the winner of each battle has done their own version of the battle song, or is it the battle version?
I really must not be the target market because I thought he was very ordinary, surprised that this is the most popular The Voice single. Not surprised that the versions of Purple Rain and Firework aren't selling so much, they were atrocious.
Can't see Carrie at the top of the ARIA charts either but she will probably be Top 10.
It's a good thing that iTunes are now changing the front pages every friday. Now new albums are being advertised on the front page as soon as they're released. Last edited:

Damn that Karise is doing well, she is probably the least favourite contestant in the series for me. Can't stand her voice. From the same it sounds like Macy Gray covering the song.

I think what is annoying me about The Voice stuff this week is that according to the rules of voting each sale counts as 2 votes. AND a maximum of 20 purchases from the one account can be counted to the voting. So there is a strong possibility that the iTunes charts are being skewed by devoted voters. No I know there is a strong chance other artists have multiple purchases, but this time of TV show encourages fantatical on mass voting by individuals. At the moment I would say the iTunes charts (and by extension the ARIA chart) reflect obsessive buyers as opposed to the purchases of Australia if that makes any sense.
I will also admit I hate the actual artist who is #1, maybe I'd feel different if it wre an act I could tolerate.
I would have much preferred Nine take the approach of the Irish version, where the only thing released was the song performed in the finals and counted as the winning single.
But I view this situation as karma showing me how frustrating it must be for the anti-Glee people when Glee was clogging up valuable space in the chart.
I personally would prefer Whsistle back at #1. Last edited:
That's what I'm also hoping ChartGuru, I'm resigned to the songs charting, but when the competition has opened it up to 'chart manipulation' that's where I draw the line.
I'm pretty sure iTunes only allows you to buy a song once anyway, if you try to purchase a song you've already bought then it just re-downloads it without counting it as a new purchase Last edited:
5 years ago the charts were only just starting to recover from the Crazy Frog-led lack of originality in singles releases. I fear that the same kind of commercialisation that caused that slump is back in effect with TV shows, instead of ringtones.
"Code Of Practice For ARIA Charts" ... "APPENDIX 1 – ELIGIBILITY RULES FOR THE ARIA DIGITAL TRACK CHART" ... "Eligibility" ... "A Qualifying Digital Sale means a retail sale:
of a permanent copy of a track eligible for inclusion in the Chart" ... "but specifically excludes: ... multiple sales of the same track by a Digital Provider to the same customer"

I have no probllem with The Voice songs being able to be purchased on Itunes however, I do have a problem with them charting in the weekly chart.
What is the point of the show if they already have a record in the charts?
What if one of these performances goes #1 on the weekly charts? Laykn could be close, he's already been top 10 with one of his performances so obviously he has the fan base. He can now claim he has a top 10 single. I find it pathetic.
ARIA needs to change something because the chart has been pretty bad of late.
All those who have a problem with The Voice, or Glee, or old songs made re-famous because of ads...
IT'S ALL THE SAME!!!
What is radio play, if not the direct endorsement of a song, just like Glee and TV do? Same for video play...
You might argue that these 'karaoke' versions shouldn't be eligable, but what is the difference between two talented people singing the same song??? The answer is preference, just in case you couldn't figure it out. It doesn't matter if one is the 'original'... more than likely those people are just happy that the songs that they wrote are becoming popular.
As for the charts... I feel that it is almost perfect as it is... The T100 ARIA chart should be a reflection of the 100 highest selling singles in Australia and nothing or less. Anything else is not a true reflection of what the public is currently enjoying...
Clinton - My only problem with The Voice recordings since the Live Finals started is according to the rules of the show 20 iTunes purchases of one song from one account are eligible to count towards votes towards the artist (each purchase = 2 votes). So if every purchase counts towards the ARIA charts, you will actually end up with a chart that doesn't reflect what Australia is buying, you will get a chart that reflects the obsessive buying from a group of people who are watching one show. of course Hijinx has pointed out that ARIA have a clause about multiple purchases, so hopefully they follow through with that.
Not that it makes a difference for your argument, but the rules state 20 votes (ie 10 downloads), not 20 downloads What I'm curious of is if this is why the older performances have risen more than usual, though I don't know if they count as votes.
While I'm here:
12. I Won't Let You Go 25. Nothing's Real But Love 32. The Fighter 49. Princess Of China 53. Heart Attack 134. The Motto
While I clearly misread the number of downloads, I did read that it is only the download of that week's performance that count towards votes. Of course it doesn't hurt to buy the older ones to let the judge know that you prefer this act over that act, since they put one person through and you can't tell me they won't be told of iTunes sales to help make their decision.

Edited: I'm really happy that Prinnie isn't get much love. I disliked her entitlement on Idol and I disliked her entitlement on this show. Of course Joel will save her cause she is pretty. Last edited:
If there were NO The Voice Performances (of contestants), then Whistle would still be #1, Lego House move up to #2, The Fighter would be #8, Rescue Me (How The Story Ends) is #10, Make It Bun Dem #15, Lonely Boy #22, STIUTK up to #25, and Internet Friends #34.
If inc. originals (still no TVP's), then Different Worlds #2, Nothing's Real But Love (Ferguson) #7, Love On Top #31,
The best thing about The Voice performances is that the iTunes rankings are based on actualy numbers sold, but the ARIA chart only includes 1 sales for every account so it makes predictions a little more tricky.
#9. Delta Goodrem - Sitting On Top of the World #10. Chris Brown - Don't Wake Me Up #17. Guy Sebastian - Gold #30. Illy - Heard It All #38. Katy Perry - Wide Awake #44. Knife Party - Internet Friends #48. Karmin - Brokenhearted #62. Jason Derulo - Undefeated (new Derulo song? ) #91. Emma Louise - Boy
#6. Chris Brown - Don't Wake Me Up #16. Loreen - Euphoria (Single Version) #27. Coldplay & Rihanna - Princess of China #29. Jennifer Lopez - Dance Again (feat. Pitbull) #33. Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl - In My Mind (feat. Georgi Kay) [Axwell Radio Edit] #37. Jason Derulo - Undefeated
#142. Can You Blow My - Whistle #154. Cheryl - Call My Name #155. Nina Zilli - L'amore e' femmina (Out of Love) [Eurovision 2012 - Italy] #157. Buranovskiye Babushki - Party for Everybody (Eurovision 2012 - Russia) #175. Jedward - Waterline (Eurovision 2012 - Ireland) #227. Taio Cruz - There She Goes (feat. Pitbull) #239. Oh Baby You're The One - Back In Time (From Men In Black 3) #252. Kelly Clarkson - Dark Side
Great to see Loreen having some success. After hearing it on Eurovision, my friend and I said that could be a true hit around the world. While I don't think it will be Waterloo huge, perhaps it might be Just A Little Bit huge. Of course now that I've said that it may just end up being Satellite huge.
Interesting that none of The Voice performances have taken off tonight, usually there is one song in the top 10 by the end of the show, and now an hour and a half after the end there are only two in the Top 40.
#2. Karise Eden - Landslide (The Voice Performance) (it was #1 for like a few minutes) #4. Fatai V - Ave Maria (The Voice Performance) #9. Rachael Leahcar - Someone to Watch Over Me (The Voice Performance) #18. Emma Louise Birdsall - The Look of Love (The Voice Performance #22. Chris Sebastian - I Can't Stand the Rain (The Voice Performance) #29 + #81. Seal - Kiss from a Rose #32. Glenn Cunningham - Closer (The Voice Performance) #42. Viktoria Bolonina - Smells Like Teen Spirit (The Voice Performance) #50. Danni Da Ros - When Love Takes Over (The Voice Performance)
I see Karise at #1. If I'm not mistaken, this is the shortest time between the start of two reigns by the same artist (The Black Eyed Peas having the shortest actual gap [I need that thread ]). She's not my favourite but I won't be critical of the means from which she obtained this height.
@billy - Haha, lol yeah. I'm really not liking Karise at all atm.
ooo, btw #1. Flo Rida - Whistle (back to #1 ) #3. Chris Brown - Don't Wake Me Up #22. Katy Perry - Wide Awake (8th single from TD?) #58. Jay Sean - I'm All Yours (feat. Pitbull) #59. Olly Murs - Dance With Me Tonight
I can't wait until we'll have Flo Rida, Chris Brown, Gym Class Heroes, Pitbull & Katy Perry all in the top 10, just need Derulo and it's a full on March 2012 reunion party! Last edited:
such a shame songs from Cheryl and Kelly is struggling and artists like Katy just release anything and gp eats it up. Wide awake is awful, the only reason its release is that Dressin Up would be a proven hit n drag the era on... I really wished it would pull a Riri and flop like talk that talk...
#3 - Darren Percival - I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever) - 0.7589 #10 - Sarah De Bono - How Will I Know - 0.4964 #15 - Diana Rouvas - I Can't Make You Love Me - 0.0828 #20 - Ben Hazlewood - I'm With You - 0.0828 #21 - Adam Martin - Romeo & Juliet - 0.0828
They're the top 5, Voice favourites Brittany and Lakyn are very much lower down the list to my surprise, but I expect them to be very much higher by tomorrow morning!
#2. Darren Percival - I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever) [The Voice Performance] (one of my favourites on The Voice TBH #15. Dire Straits - Romeo and Juliet #42. Avril Lavigne - I'm With You #46. will.i.am - This Is Love (feat. Eva Simons) #47. Brittany Cairns - Straight Lines (The Voice Performance) #389. Knife Party - Centipede (from the new EP )
Wow, surprised that Darren is #1. I only saw the recap when I changed channel and I wasn't impressed with his little segment. My favourite from the clip of Keith's team was the woman who went first and looks like Tina Arena.
Interesting to see that Brittany and Laikyn are struggling to retain their favouritism in their groups. Makes it more interesting that what is happening with Delta and Seal's group.
Just quietly stoked that Prinnie continues to struggle to appeal to the voters.
Only 3 ARIA charts left of having to deal with The Voice impact.
Voice #1. Darren Percival - I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever) [The Voice Performance] #2. Diana Rouvas - I Can't Make You Love Me (The Voice Performance) #4. Ben Hazelwood - I'm With You (The Voice Performance) #5. Sarah De Bono - How Will I Know (The Voice Performance) #6. Adam Martin - Romeo and Juliet (The Voice Performance) #12. Lakyn Heperi - Friday I'm In Love (The Voice Performance) #21. Brittany Cairns - Straight Lines (The Voice Performance) #107. Prinnie Stevens - Forever (The Voice Performance)
and... #30. Justin Bieber - All Around the World (feat. Ludacris) #37. Nicki Minaj - Pound the Alarm #41. Avril Lavigne - I'm With You #49. Good Charlotte - I Don't Wanna Be In Love (Dance Floor Anthem) #79. The Cure - Friday I'm In Love #80. Missy Higgins - Everyone's Waiting #92. Cher Lloyd - Want U Back #160. The Temper Trap - Trembling Hands
I've noticed that those sneaky people at Warner have bumped Whistle back down to $1.19. I'd like to imagine that this implies that it's nearly done, but I suspect I won't have my wish.
ugh i hope the label wont let I'm with you chart it would look horrible like P!nk's just like a pill any further action for call my name? its slowly getting traction and was just number 15 in tonight's hot 30 countdown
My little whinge for the week... how songs need to be renamed because people don't know their real names. In this case Dancefloor Anthem and in the past Breakeven.
Otherwise I am very happy that the bad performances on The Voice have been acknowledged and aren't doing as well on the chart, especially Straight Lines and Forever (also Friday I'm In Love).
For what it's worth wlv, the Good Charlotte song has been labelled as such on iTunes since at least 2008, I don't know if it was any different while it was a hit though.
The Good Charlotte song has been labelled as 'I Don't Wanna Be In Love (Dance Floor Anthem)' since the end of July / early August 2007. They renamed it when it was Top 5 on iTunes if I remember well.
Otherwise, you can see the Top 1024 on Livepopbars. Call My Name currently sits at #216.
Lady Antebellum's Need You Now is #97 and #116. Last edited:
As I said it was only a little whinge. I would be interested to see what it is labelled on a new version of Good Morning Revival, as I have the album from when it was first released and it is only labelled as Dance Floor Anthem.
1. Darren Percival - I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever) 2. Diana Rouvas - I Can't Make You Love Me 4. Ben Hazlewood - I'm With You 5. Sarah De Bono - How Will I Know 6. Adam Martin - Romeo and Juliet 14. Lakyn Heperi - Friday I'm In Love
and in other news Emma Louise Birdsall and Emma Louise are 183 and 184 respectively
Well I hope that Avril's "I'm With You" finally charts (the label didn't let it in 2003). It's one of my favourite songs of hers and has special meaning for me, moreso because I associate it with a special time in my life. I also love Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" and hope it can beat it's rather lowly chart position from back in 1992 (#77 I think???).
I have to say that reviving some of these "hidden gems" is The Voice's one saving grace as far as I'm concerned. Last edited:
Flo Rida - Whistle back at #1... again . Would this make the most amount of times returned to #1? (5th time reaching #1).
Others #11. Justin Bieber - All Around the World (feat. Ludacris) #27. Nicki Minaj - Pound the Alarm #29. will.i.am - This Is Love (feat. Eva Simons) #30. Clare Bowditch - You Make Me Happy #80. I'm at a Payphone - Payphone
I'm really stoked that people are finally giving some credit to the many years of service that I'm At A Payphone have done, all those gigs at pubs, school fetes and chicken raffles are finally paying off.
Saw Train last night in the audience to DWTS. Were reasonable live. Tried to make a joke about drive by introducing them to listeners in lebanon the joke fell flat.
Pre-Karaoke Shit™ lol (Pre-Voice) #2. Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe (rebound) #3. Pitbull - Back In Time #6. Gym Class Heroes - The Fighter (feat. Ryan Tedder) #12. Train - Drive By #15. Darren Percival - I Believe.... #19. Coldplay & Rihanna - Princess Of China #27. Karmin - Brokenhearted
Not much impact now, but will all change tomorrow (morning). #5. Darren Percival I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever) [The Voice Performance] (last weeks performance) #11. Diana Rouvas I Can't Make You Love Me (The Voice Performance) (also last weeks performance) #14. Karise Eden - Hallelujah (The Voice Performance) #42. Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah #50. Sarah De Bono - Here's Where I Stand (The Voice Performance #95. Tiffany Taylor & Company - Here's Where I Stand
I've got 0.70 for Flo Rida and 0.66 for Carly on kworb. Flo was 1.00 three hours ago and Carly was 0.66. Find it strange that the gap has shortened this much within just a few hours. Last edited:
I think that's because since iTunes stopped showing detail, it only resorts to approximations, hence why there's a lot of similar numbers in the different updates. On the other hand I could be totally wrong and CMM was just in a viral video or something.
#1. Karise Eden - Hallelujah (The Voice Performance) (60% ahead of #2 ) #9. Darren Percival - A Song for You (The Voice Performance) #10. Sarah De Bono - Here's Where I Stand (The Voice Performance) #16. Rachael Leahcar - Nights In White Satin (Notte di luce) [The Voice Performance] (such a shame she came down with a flu and could perform better ) #23. Justin Bieber - As Long As You Love Me (feat. Big Sean) #48. Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah #49. Emeli Sandé - My Kind of Love #68. Rudimental - Feel the Love #137. Jay Z & Kanye West - No Church in the Wild (feat. Frank Ocean)
This time next week, The Shit Karaoke™ winner will be trashing the Top spot
I much prefer seeing Hallelujah at the top than Flo Rida's dirge and I frankly don't care whether it's a cover. That's why I'm also glad that the Voice winner will enter at #1. Having Whistle at #1 for so long is a much bigger joke than those covers saturating the charts. Karise is now outselling him by 3 to 1. Last edited:
3. Sarah De Bono - Here's Where I Stand (The Voice Performance) #7. Darren Percival - A Song for You (The Voice Performance) #13. Rachael Leahcar - Nights In White Satin (Notte di luce) [The Voice Performance]
Also... #10. Justin Bieber - As Long As You Love Me (feat. Big Sean) (yep, all his songs from his unreleased album so far have reached the Top 10) #99. Meiko - Stuck On You #472. f(x) - Electric Shock Last edited:

Darren Percival - I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever) [The Voice Performance] #17. Karise Eden - It's a Man's World (The Voice Performance) #25. Johhny Ruffo - On Top (would've been #11 minus the Voice Performances)
#90. Cheryl- Call My Name #91. Kelly Clarkson - Dark Side #94. The Commodores - Easy
I think it's clear we have a The Voice winner, although tonights performances were actually better than any other of the shows. Last edited:
Flo is clinging on for dear life at #10 while The Voice pwns the rest of the Top 10. I don't really follow the iTunes chart but I just had to witness this trainwreck. So did he fall out of the Top 10 at any point and therefore hand the Karaoke Shit™ a clean sweep?
How ridiculous. The upcoming singles chart will contain a majority of things that are not ansd will never be real singles. The only good thing about it will be if one of the karaoke performances outdoes what I'm assuming will be the real single.
While it is imperative that we keep track of the Voice Performances I think it would be refreshing if we were updated in some non-related stuff, no?
Without You - Keith Urban #20 (#6 w/o Voice), 2nd version at #73
On Top - Johnny Ruffo has been rather steady in the 20s, but this has caused it to theoretically rise, it's now above Lego House, Never Let Me Go, Where Have You Been and other songs of the previous era. #27 (#10 w/o Voice, as Trav pointed out)
on that note, Where Have You Been is down to #40 lolololol How is Undefeated not falling though?
The Voice is now raping the latest reviews section of this very site. AHHHHH!!! KILL IT WITH A STICK BEFORE IT SPREADS AND DESTROYS US ALLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!! hehe
Real music is starting to make its way back into the top 10. Flo Rida is at #9 and Chris Brown is at #10. Will the rest reclaim their rightful positions in time to avert a Voice-dominated farce happening to the real top 10 (ARIA) next week? Only time will tell...
You Won't Let Me crawls a little closer and is now within 0.05-0.10 of #1 [/I still hate these new pop bars ], and Some Nights is up to #38 now! Also How We Do has overtaken Back in Time and Call Me Maybe.
25. Fun. - Some Nights 26. Rudimental - Feel The Love 105. The Temper Trap - Trembling Hands 109. Knife Party - Centipede 198. Alex Clare - Too Close Last edited:
4. Nicki Minaj - Pound the Alarm 6. Katy Perry - Wide Awake 8. will.i.am - This Is Love (feat. Eva Simons) 14. Rudimental - Feel the Love 23. Fun. - Some Nights 41. Johnny Ruffo - On Top (flop? ) 48. Linkin Park - BURN IT DOWN (albums out now) 56. B.o.B - Both of Us (feat. Taylor Swift) 110. Florence + The Machine - Breath of Life
Ouch for some of the Voice Performances, with some in the Top 10 last week nearly out of the Top 100.
#5. Katy Perry - Wide Awake #33. Jennifer Lopez - Dance Again (I dont know where its been lately so) #53. Paloma Faith - Picking Up The Pieces #91. Florence + The Machine - Breath Of Life
WHOHO! Pitbull's new song with SHAKIRAAAA! is pretty good, though i must say, her voice does get a bit annoying in this song, but supposedly it's either getting released on itunes tomorrow or to US radio, hwooooo so excited.
3. Wide Awake 6. The Fighter 7. This Is Love 12. Undefeated 19. Broken Hearted 20. Some Nights 34. Gold On The Ceiling 37. Burn It Down 43. 50 Ways To Say Goodbye 51. Primadonna 58. My Kind Of Love 64. Party Rock Anthem 93. Everybody's Waiting
Amazing that it only took 8 days to get a The Voice-free Top 10, comparing to Reece's almost five week stint at the top with Good Night.
I have held the belief that one of The Voice's faults was the finalists (bar Sarah) only sang big ballads with moments that they belted out, it just doesn't sell anymore (unless you are Adele).
I am happy for as much Aussie music on the charts, especially if it is bringing in sales from people who normally don't buy music, I just wonder how quick the knives come out in the press about Stay With Me Baby, being #1 this time last week and now it is down to #27.
Looks like people are buying singles individually off the album and not buying the album as a whole as the singles from the album are creeping up the top 100 digital chart. You'd think people would be trying to save some dollars by purchasing the album!
I am confused with how album and singles from albums chart?
If people were buying Bieber's album surely that would have helped Boyfriend in the weekly singles chart yet we saw it decline over 20 spots and his album was the top seller in the same week.
Surely every man and his dog has downloaded Hallelujah by now? It amazes me that there are 2 of her versions in the top 100 digital chart.
I've said it before but something is not right with this chick and/or The Voice/Channel 9. Something suss is going on.
I'm pretty sure all the album tracks from the album are charting and high because people would be buying all the songs individually that weren't released as singles (which is perhaps cheaper than the whole thing if the Complete My Album option didn't work). This same thing happened when One Direction had all (I think it was all of them?) their bonus tracks that weren't on the original release of Up All Night make the chart, because like Karise, their popularity can support this.
And the second versions of the original singles are probably just charting because the ads for the album on iTunes lead to those ones but if you search her name you'll get the other and that confusion happens with basically every new release album.
I personally will never understand how something as rubbish as Whistle can sustain such sales, but then I should never over-estimate the buying public!
Fun. & Rudimental are #11 & #12, please can one of them (or both!) go top 10 soon!
I'm pretty sure that in the U.S., when a Complete My Album is done, that counts as a sale towards the album, and takes away one sale from the song(s) previously purhased in the week that the Complete My Album is done. Does that work the same way for ARIA?
I don't think it does take away sales here, because songs tend to rise dramatically on album release week, which while you can attribute that to hype, if there was an issue with Complete My Album, it would surely counteract this. When I mentioned it before, I was referring to when it doesn't actually work and you have to download/pay for the singles again! Last edited:
4. Fun. - Sone Nights 5. will.i.am - This Is Love (feat. Eva Simons) 10. Rudimental - Feel the Love 14. Karmin - Brokenhearted 24. Timomatic - Can You Feel It 29. Muse - Survival 32. Linkin Park - BURN IT DOWN 48. Emeli Sandé - My Kind of Love 67. Meiko - Stuck On You 68. Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen - Good Time 70. Maroon 5 - One More Night 76. The Temper Trap - Trembling Hands
The 3 Losers of The Voice apparently have their true debut single released today on iTunes (as Chris A has discovered) with Their Loser Journey albums seeing the light of day July 13.
I can't remember the last time the whole Top 7 was so close to the top spot. Even Payphone at #8 isn't that far from Flo Rida when you add its second version charting in the Top 100. Looks like any of them could get to #1.
Flo Rida is likely to spend a 9th week at the top of the ARIA charts, thanks to the second version sitting at #100 and good weekend sales but it may fall fast once he leaves the top spot and his album is no longer advertised on the iTunes homepage.
Will be really interesting to see what happens from tomorrow. Last edited:
Yeah I can't remember the last time either. I think the chart needs a bit of new blood & Australia is just waiting for the next big hit (which I think will come after 9th July when Pink's new song comes out).
Anything could happen tomorrow, it wouldn't even surprise me if Flo Rida loses #1 tomorrow and one of the songs below takes advantage for the next week or so. I can see fun. possibly being the song maybe? Or could Rudimental or Reece pull a surprise? Reece's label are mad not having a physical out this week, could have secured him a #1 (I can't remember the last time a physical single help secure a #1 either)
Wow this is awesome, hopefully Fun. can climb a lot from here to snatch #1 because they were never too far from Whistle over the weekend, exciting times these are!
I have no idea who KJ-52 & TC are, but they're #1 on the Christian iTunes charts so I'm presuming Hillsong for now.
EDIT: No! Got it! The song is played on the Swisse Olympic Ads, with Cadel Evans, Cathy Freeman etc. It's been playing a lot on SBS particularly because of the Tour de France and it's online everywhere. I think I've seen it on Channel 7 too.

27. Matchbox Twenty - Shes So Mean. 45. Missy Higgins - Everyones Waiting. 74. Elton John & Pnau - Good Morning To The Night. 82. George Michael - White Light. 147. City High - What Would You Do?
Lonely Boy is now 'album only' on iTunes for some strange reason. Don't know whether it's a temporary glitch or not.
New peaks:
11. Brokenhearted 28. One More Night 31. 50 Ways To Say Goodbye 39. Run 41. Everyone's Waiting 52. Call My Name 60. Good Morning To The Night 69. Spectrum (Calvin Harris Remix) 74. White Light

Tennis; Outasight - Tonight Is The Night is being used to promote a new series called The Shire on Network Ten. I am really happy it's going to re-enter the ARIA Top 50, it's one of my favourite tracks of 2012 to date. #01 - Pink - Blow Me (One Last Kiss). #35 - Flo Rida & RedFoo - Run. #49 - Florence & The Machine - Spectrum [Calvin Harris Remix] #50 - Skrillex & Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley - Make It Bun Dem. #51 - Kid Cudi, MGMT & Ratatat - Pursuit Of Happiness. #61 - Elton John & Pnau - Good Morning To The Night. #62 - Lupe Fiasco - Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free). #75 - Flo Rida & Georgi Kay - In My Mind Part 2. #83 - Heroes For Hire - No Apologies. #86 - Loon Lake - Cherry Lips. #87 - George Michael - White Light. #88 - Kelly Clarkson - What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger). #90 - Both Of Us - Both Of Us. #94 - Jay-Z & Kanye West - Niggas In Paris. #96 - Oasis - Wonderwall #100 - Presets - Youth In Trouble.
I live in The Shire and I am dreading the TV show as I think it will be representing a small minority of people who live here and will give the place a bad name.
However, I am glad Tonight Is The Night has received a new boost of life as I like the song very much so at least something good has come from a show that hasn't even started.

Me too IE but I think it'll get stuck at #2 However, I love Some Night so its all good.
The itunes chart is moving so quickly at the moment, quite a few upcoming songs picking up now. I see Pitbull's newie is shooting up, isn't he in Australia during August? If so, it could peak at the right time.
I could see Owl City/Carly reaching #1 in a few weeks actually, plus we have new No Doubt and Veronicas coming soon as well.
@Simonf: I love your optimism about No Doubt but I doubt it would reach #1, however if it did it would be one of the greatest musical experiences of my life. Also Australia loved Dirty Talk by Wyntet Gordon last year so maybe her new song could
@Tennis: Regarding No Doubt & The Veronicas, it just depends how good the songs are really. Has Xtina got new stuff coming out then? I didn't realise. If Rudimental can't make it I am pretty sure Owl City will make #1 IMO
2. Rudimental - Feel The Love (that now beats Blow Me's two versions) 5. Maroon 5 - One More Night 31. Pitbull - Get It Started (feat. Shakira) 34. Whistle is kinda stalling, but thankfully How We Do has finally overtaken it. The Fighter and Outasight fell below it though, probably because all the hype around the awful The Shire has left.

Jessica Mauboy - Gotcha (The Sapphires (movie) is coming out soon) Last edited:
Chasing The Sun is definitely getting helped by its appearance not only in the end credits of Ice Age 4 but by being featured very heavily in a scene within Ice Age 4.
Beccy Cole is a much rewarded and loved Australian country music artist. I think she may have managed to have a couple of albums crack the Top 50 at #32 amd #24. She was on Australian Sotry last night, but the big interest in her is that for the first time the Australian media is reporting on an Australian femmale country artist who isn't Kasey Chambers. The reason, in Australian Story she announced she is a lesbian. Good to see her get a little love even if it is on iTunes, I quite enjoy her music. Last edited:
I am surprised so many have downloaded it. It's not as if the song was advertised saying the name of the song or the artist. The song was used during the show.
2. Maroon 5 - One More Night 25. Matchbox Twenty - She's So Mean 26. Far East Movement - Turn Up The Love 29. Ed Sheeran - Drunk 47. Chiddy Bang - Mind Your Manners 57. Alex Clare - Too Close 82. Jay-Z & Kanye West - Ni**as In Paris (Back again )

Hopefully Drunk and Timomatic, or even Matchbox 20 can kick Flo Rida out of the top 20 tonight! While the top 20 is very fresh (mainly the top 10), all the old songs are dumped into the 20s.
It is worth noting The A Team is just outside the US Top 100 iTunes and Heart Skips A Beat is close to the Top 200.
2. Maroon 5 - One More Night (95% on livepopbars, very close to #1) 6. B.o.B - Both of Us (feat. Taylor Swift) 12. Johnny Ruffo - On Top 20. Ed Sheeran - Drunk 22. Not a fan of One More Night but it's a bit better than Some Nights, so I'm glad it's beaten Fun. Most of the #1's we've had this year have been rather lacklustre anyway.
I won't be surprised if Fun. return to the top spot soon. Justice Crew may be contenders too.
Looks like Sony have understood that they may have a potential #1 in their hands with Justice Crew. Boom Boom has been discounted and has climbed to #2. Top 3 is still incredibly close. Last edited:

Good to see Jess Mauboy starting to climb up now. Gotcha is up to #68 now so hopefully it can crack the top 50 soon with the movie coming out later in the week. Because I'd hate for this to be her first single not to chart.
Has Karise Eden's album "My Journey" been falling quite rapidly on the ITunes chart or has it always been low and is #1 on the national chart because it's selling highly physically or from other digital outlets?
It's been #1 on the album chart for 6 weeks now so to see it low on the ITunes chart is a surprise.
Can someone please clarify this? Are we expecting a mammoth drop next week?
Somewhat. Usually newer albums perform better digitally initially, but once they start to get bigger, then sales cross over to physical. Adele's 21 was a big case of this early in its run, and even Flo Rida is somehow doing better physically than digitally now. Karise opened big physically and digitally, and is obviously declining on both but is holding up on ARIA due to lack of competition. It is worth noting that the iTunes album chart will be cluttered with albums that don't get included on the album chart too.
I think it's highly likely that she'll hold #1 again although she may drop 1 or 2 places. I also wouldn't be surprised if a plummet is set to occur eventually.
Meanwhile some action:

After watching the film clip I totally agree Bretticus about the way the artists should be atrributed. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets released in America it wil be presented the way you mention.
Battle Scars up to #2, and 0.95 on Livepopbars, so I wouldn't be surprised if it takes over Boom Boom at #1 anytime soon.
Also... 16. Havana Brown - You’ll Be Mine (feat. R3hab) 21. Birdy - People Help the People 29. Chiddy Bang - Mind Your Manners (feat. Travie McCoy & Icona Pop)
Mario's Let Me Love You is at #50 on ITunes and was used on Everybody Dance Now. An odd choice for a dance song imo.
Did anyone find Jason DeRulo's performance interesting? As in song choice? You think he would have promoted Undefeated as it's his current hit and has been a rather weak single but he sampled 3 other hits, It Girl, Breathing and the Pieces song. There doesn't seem to be any significant movement on ITunes from Jason De Rulo at this stage.
Also does anyone know the name of the song that the 19 year old kid who has never been kissed danced to? I like the song and am stumped as to what it is!

Delta Goodrem - Dancing With a Broken Heart (too early to say, but looks like a flop) 41. Jason Derulo - Pick Up the Pieces 43. Ne-Yo - Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself) 52. Taylor will definately enter the Top 50 this week. Don't know whether she'll be #1 on iTunes though as Guy is now vastly outselling the rest of the chart.
