Reece Mastin debuts at No.1 with his third single entitled “Shout it Out”, which becomes the 97th No.1 debut in Australia and our 993rd No.1 single (1940 to 2012) plus it’s the 427th No.1 for ARIA (1983 to 2012). Reece also becomes the first Australian this decade to score two No.1’s, as his first single back in December 2011 “Good Night” spent four broken weeks at No.1, whilst his follow-up “Shut Up and Kiss Me” made it to No.2 in early May (No.1 in New Zealand at the same time).
Reece also joins the exclusive club of former reality show acts such as Guy Sebastian, Shannon Noll and Anthony Callea in scoring two or more No.1 singles, and the song “Shout it Out” is only the second song to feature the word ‘Shout’ in it’s title, the other being the Tears for Fears song “Shout” (1 week at No.1: 25-March-85). This track also becomes the 16th No.1 in Australia for the Sony label, their last being Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” back in January of this year.
It was a battle all week to see if fun could make it to No.1 again after “We Are Young” did it in March for three weeks, but “Some Nights” hasn’t quite made it to the top (yet), but does have an impressive jump into the Top 10 this week, up eleven places to No.2, and with their upcoming appearance at ‘Splendor in the Grass’ festival and some side shows in late July, they could be at No.1 for much of the rest of July.
Last weeks returnee to the No.1 spot, “Whistle” for Flo Rida drops respectively this time to No.3 after accumulating eight weeks at No.1, which gives Flo a tally of 24 weeks at the top, the same amount Michael Jackson accrued during his stellar career, but Flo Rida has racked his four No.1’s up over five years (2008 to 2012), whilst Michael did it over a 20 year period (Dec. 1972 to Dec. 1991). Dean Martin also has a total of 24 weeks at No.1, but from six chart-toppers between January 1953 and December 1958.
Katy Perry holds her No.4 peak for “Wide Awake” for a second week, but this week she returns to the charts with some of her former hits thanks in part to her promo tour and the opening of her first film, “Part of Me 3D”, a documentary on her recent tour. “Part of Me” is back up thirteen places to No.39, and returning to the Top 100 are “Firework” (HP-3) at No.54, “Last Friday Night (TGIF)” (HP-5) at No.81 and “Hot N’ Cold” (HP-4) at No.99.
“Payphone” for Maroon 5 drops back two places to No.5, but scoring their first Top 10 entry are drum-n-bass act Rudimental with their former No.1 UK No.1 single “Feel the Love”, which jumps up six places to No.6. Chris Brown drops back to No.7 after “Don’t Wake Me Up” scored a new peak of No.2 last week, and down one places apiece at No.8 and No.9 are “This is Love” for Will.i.Am and Eva Simons and “The Fighter” for Gym Class Heroes featuring Ryan Tedder respectively. Rounding out the top ten at No.10 is Carly Rae Jepsen with “Call Me Maybe”, spending its sixteenth week within the Top 10.
NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: The duo Karmin jump up seven places to a new peak of No.13 with “Broken Hearted”, and right behind them at No.14, up twelve places, is Johnny Ruffo with his debut single “On Top”, whilst returning to the Top 20 at No.16 (up from No.21) are Jay Sean and Pitbull with “I’m All Yours” (HP-13).
The only other new peaks within the Top 50 are B.o.B and Taylor Swift with “Both of Us” jumping up fourteen places to No.36, and entering the Top 50 for the first time are “Trembling Hands” for The Temper Trap, up thirty-four places to No.47 and right behind them at No.48 are Marina & The Diamonds with “Primadonna”, up seven places to No.48.
REALITY CHECK: Karise Eden drops from No.5 to No.27 with the track “You Won’t Let Me” this week, and her tracks “Hallelujah” (from 38) and “Stay With Me Baby” (from 54) drop out of the Top 100 all together, as does Darren Percival’s “I Believe” (from 78), but Sarah De Bono remains within the Top 100 at No.75 (down from No.37) with “Beautiful”, but Sarah also scores a debut at No.50 with the new track “No Shame”.
This week the large majority of new entries are by reality show contestants, with Reece Mastin debuting at No.1, there is also former Canadian Idol contestant Carly Rae Jepsen who has teamed up with the first No.1 act of the decade Owl City (“Fireflies” from Jan. 2010) for his new track “Good Time” which debuts at No.15.
Then at No.24 is Australia’s Got Talent 2010 winners Justice Crew with “Boom Boom”, their fourth chart entry and instantly their second highest charted, as their second single “Friday to Sunday” made it to No.18 in January 2011. Debuting right behind them at No.25 is Australia’s Got Talent 2011 finalist Timomatic with his third single entitled “Can You Feel it”. His first two chart entries both made it to the Top 10, with “Set it off” making it to No.2 in late January 2012 and then “If Looks Could Kill” went to No.8 in April 2012.
Lower 50: Maroon 5 fly up thirty places to No.59 with their new track “One More Night”, as The Wanted are “Chasing the Sun” at No.68, up nine places this week. Missy Higgins jumps seventeen spots to No.69 with “Everyone’s Waiting”, and the final lower new peak is “Rack City” by Tyga, up a couple of places to No.78. And other than the Katy Perry returnees, also re-entering the Top 100 this week are “Turn Me On” for David Guetta and Nicki Minaj at No.93, “Moves like Jagger” for Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera at No.94, and “Pumped up Kicks” by Foster the People at No.98.
The only other new entry into the Top 100 is the song “Survival” by Muse at No.72. The track is the first taste of their forthcoming sixth studio album “The 2nd Law”, and is the official song for the London Olympic Games, plus the song will be broadcast when the athletes enter the stadium and in the period before medal ceremonies. It will also feature on the upcoming ‘London 2012: Rock the Games’ album. “Survival” is the group’s ninth Top 100 entry.
The Voice winner Karise Eden holds at No.1 for a second week with her collection of songs on “My Journey”, giving us two different reality show winners at No.1 in Australia this week, with Reece Mastin at No.1 on the ARIA singles chart.
The Hillsong church of Sydney scores a No.2 debut with its latest album “Cornerstone” under the Hillsong Live listing. It’s the organizations twelfth Top 10 album, and fourth Top 2 album (three No.2’s and a No.1), and it beats the No.3 peak of their 2011 album “God is Able” (peaked July 2011).
It’s a top three of Australian performers this week, as Keith Urban holds at No.3 with his compilation album “The Story So Far”, whilst last weeks No.2 debut of “Living Things” for Linkin Park drops back two places to No.4 this week.
Flo Rida debuts at No.5 with his fourth album entitled “Wild Ones”, and it becomes his second Top 10 and highest charting album after “R.O.O.T.S. (Route of Overcoming the Struggle) made it to No.6 in late April 2009. Earlier this year the remix EP “Good Feeling” made it to No.12 (helped also by a promo tour at the time), and this new album far surpasses the No.82 peak his November 2010 album “Only One Flo (Part 1)” made. His first charting album here “Mail on Sunday” made it to No.21 in August 2008.
“Up All Night” for One Direction holds at No.6, “Overexposed” for Maroon 5 drops down five places to No.9 after debuting at No.4 last week, and down five places to No.10 is former No.1 “Believe” for Justin Bieber (1-5-10 so far). Katy Perry’s musical documentary “Part of Me 3D” opened in cinemas this past week, and that has helped her “Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection” to bullet back up seventeen places to No.8, whilst she also returns at No.65 with her first album “One of the Boys” (HP-11).
The third debut inside the Top 10 this week is the ninth studio album for The Offspring, as “Days Go By”, which debuts at No.7 becoming their seventh Top 10 album in Australia, and the bands entire album discography is listed below…

DAYS GO BY
NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: “The Awakening” by James Morrison jumps up seventeen places to a new peak of No.15 this week, and recent tourist Carrie Underwood turns around and jumps back up twelve places to No.18 with her “Blown Away” album, plus she also returns at No.77 with her former No.14 album “Play On”. As fun jump to No.2 on the singles chart with “Some Nights”, the album of the same name jumps up twenty-four places to No.20, far surpassing the No.35 peak the album made in March this year. With a pending tour, Coldplay’s “Xylo Myloto” album is back up seven places to No.32, dropping and rising to No.35 and No.36 are the two Bee Gees compilations, with “The Ultimate Bee Gees” dropping (24 to 35) and “The Number Ones” rising (45 to 36).
The last new entry of the week (Top 50 and Top 100) is the second album for US progressive metal band Periphery entitled “Periphery II”, which comes in at No.46. Their self-titled 2010 debut album failed to chart here.
Lower 50: There are no new entries in the lower half of the Top 100 this week, but returning at No.52 and scoring a new peak is Owen Campbell and his album “Sunshine Road”. Jack White’s “Blunderbuss” jumps back up ten places to No.59, and Cold Chisel are back up the charts with “All for You: The Best of” (60 to 53) and “No Plans” (77 to 63). And thanks to his big No.1 debut, Reece Mastin sees his album jump back up twelve spots to No.64.
Albums also returning this week are “Sigh No More” for Mumford and Sons at No.88; “Vows” for Kimbra at No.91 which has just been repackaged as an ‘international’ version; “Hot Potatoes! The Best of” for The Wiggles is back in at No.95 and helped by his Graham Norton appearance last Saturday night (here in Australia that is), Adam Lambert’s “Trespassing” album jumps back in at No.98.

Correct bulion; manipulation which shouldn't be allowed. The media will spin the web that Blow Me (One Last Kiss) debut @ #01 with a <G> Accreditation. Would have looked better with a nice leap into poll position.
Muse - Survival. Katy Perry & Snoop Dogg - California Gurls. ? Katy Perry - Teenage Dream. ? Katy Perry - Firework. ? Katy Perry - Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.). ? Katy Perry - The One That Got Away. ? Last edited:
Yay now i don't have to raid the 51-100 spaces in the chart to get the songs for my personal ARIA chart. At least until next time The Voice is on. If X Factor does the same thing im gonna kill
I think also The X Factor asked them not to be available for iTunes charting or the real chart. That's what they have done in the UK and what American Idol has also done. Which is fine by me, and I would also have no problems with The Voice doing it as well.
A little tired of this top 10, there are many great songs that have been in the 11-20 section that just sadly haven't reached the top 10 (I Won't Let You Go, Princess of China and Karmin would be nice here). Anythign is better than Whistle though!
and that SHOULD be the end of the whistle domination for good, I dont care if Fun. or Reece are #1 now, we have a much much much better #1 this week than whistle
** This song sounds like "Cecelia" for Simon & Garfunkel, "Help is on it's Way" by Little River Band, or even "Why Don't You Get a Job?" for The Offspring.

Wow, Fun. & Reece must've been close in terms on sales. I really hope Fun. can reach #1, if not, I hope it has a similar run to Moves Like Jagger
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but IF Johnny Ruffo reaches the Top 10 soon, will he be the first Perth act in around 6 years (since Eskimo Joe) to reach the Top 10 (singles)?
Ewwwwwww Reece, stinks that Fun. couldn't score a second number one single
Wow for Karise Eden's massive drop from #1, lol @ worst #1 run ever! Hehe PRA stays at #51 for another week. A shame that Katy can't get higher in the top five, but I'm glad it has peaked higher than Part Of Me.
Which milestone do you think will occur first? Our 1000th #1 single or our 100th #1 debut or both at the same time? When it occurs we can come back to this thread and see who was right.
Well it depends on how long our #1 runs are. P!nk will be #1 next week and in not too long lady gaga will be releasing new music plus a few other big names are apparently releasing new music. Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Ke$ha, Avril Lavigne. You may even count No Doubt
