Forum - General: Sport related - Pop Culture Olympics

Hey. I decided to try something unusual and quite out-there. In theme with the fact that the 2012 London Olympics will be starting towards the end of this month I am going to put every decade since the 1960s to the test in various aspects of pop culture. The single best representative from each of the decades will be chosen and the top three will earn gold, silver or bronze for their decade. The goal is to determine how the decades stack up against each other when it comes to pop culture. I've already made a start, but plan to add more as time progresses:

MEDAL TABLE (current standings)

Rank Decade   Gold Silver Bronze Total
 1 Noughties (2000-2009)   7 4 3 14
 2 Nineties (1990-1999)   6 4 5 15
 3 Eighties (1980-1989)   1 4 3 8
 4 Tenties (current decade so far)   1 2 1 4
 5 Seventies (1970-1979)   1 1 0 2
 6 Sixties (1960-1969)   0 1 4 5

Board Game: Sudoku is a Noughties thing? I haven't heard of Headache.

Book: I've read To Kill A Mockingbird, but I haven't heard of the other two either? I'm not a book person though.

Chocolate: Surely Time Out beats Marvellous Creations

Clothing Fashion: No comment

Electronic Invention: I think I agree

Music Studio Album: No comment
Hi Anton. The Sudoku PUZZLE is actually a LOT older than the noughties however, it's commercial success, and more to the point, release of the BOARD GAME, was noughties.

Massively subjective competition you got going here Benners.

BEST DECADE FOR MUSIC IN GENERAL:
Gold to the Nineties
Silver to the Noughties
Bronze to the Eighties

Yes, it is subjective and I like I said opinion is involved otherwise you'd probably see things like Harry Potter or Connect Four here. But that's the beauty of it. I really welcome the feedback and also have no problem with anyone else here doing their own thing like this, like you have with "Music in general"

Side note: A few categories will work under a "mainstream" basis. My definition of "mainstream" is that if a product can aesthetically appeal to a teen/adult audience (the general audience of pop culture), then it is "mainstream". In particular, franchises typically with large appeal to young children but substantially little to no appeal to anyone older are excluded from the listings unless otherwise stated.
