Matching the two weeks that the song achieved in the UK, James Arthur stays atop the ARIA Singles Chart with "Say You Won't Let Go", the song racking up a ▲Platinum sales certification this week too.
The entire top four songs stay put this week, with "Starboy" for The Weeknd and Daft Punk at No.2 for a second week, the song is newly certified Gold (●) in sales, whilst also on hold are The Chainsmokers with Halsey and their former No.1 "Closer" and Calum Scott with "Dancing on My Own" at No.3 and No.4 respectively, and rejoining the top 5, up one to its former peak of No.5 is Hailee Steinfeld with Grey and Zedd on her track "Starving".
"Side to Side" for Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj is also back up one spot to No.6 and down two places to No.7 is the fifth of seven team-ups within the Top 10 (yes I am including Hailee's ensemble) in Sia and Kendrick Lamar with "The Greatest", which also cracks the ▲Platinum sales certification. The Chainsmokers once again have two songs within the Top 10 this week, as their newest entry "All We Know" with Phoebe Ryan is up two places to a new peak of No.8 and right behind them, and the only new entry to the Top 10 this week, is Bruno Mars with the title track from his forthcoming third album "24K Magic", up three places from last weeks entry to No.9 this week. This now becomes his twelfth Top 10 entry here in Australia (8 solo and 4 as guest vocalist), and lastly dropping down two places to No.10 is DJ Snake and Justin Bieber with "Let Me Love You".
UP: Shawn Mendes is on his way to landing a third Top 10 single in Australia, as his latest ballad "Mercy" is up seven spots to a new peak of No.20 this week, also landing a Gold (●) in sales this week too. The next climbing track (big or small) is way down at No.34, Jessica Mauboy's cover of "Wake Me Up" jumps back up nine spots to a new peak this week, helped by the TV Soundtrack for "The Secret Daughter" boosting sales, the set landing her her first solo No.1 Album here. Jumping up into the Top 50 this week are Timmy Trumpet with MAKJ and Andrew W.K. on the track "Party Till We Die", which climbs thirteen spots to a new peak of No.46.
DOWN: The only song leaving the Top 10 this week is the latest one for Calvin Harris "My Way" (HP-9, WI10-2), which is down two places to No.11, after which we see Illy and Vera Blue fall five spots to No.20 with "Papercuts", Betty Who is down seven to No.23 with her cover of "I Love You Always Forever", after reaching No.21 last week "Ain't My Fault" for Zara Larsson falls back three to No.24. Falling four places each are "The Ocean" for Mike Perry and "Alarm" for Anne-Marie to No.26 and No.28 respectively, whilst debuting last week at No.26 with "Love Me Now", John Legend's latest track falls back down seven places to No.33 this week. Calvin also drops five places to No.36 with his former No.1 "This is What You Came for", "Cool Girl" for Tove Lo is down seven to No.43, the biggest tumble within the Top 50 goes to recent tourist here Ellie Goulding and "Still Falling for You", which is down this week seventeen places to No.44, and down six places each are Flume with "Never Be Like You" and "This Girl" by Kungs vs Cookin' on 3 Burners to No.47 and No.48 respectively. Dropping down into the lower fifty this week are "Cheap Thrills" for Sia (44 to 55), "Crash" for Usher (45 to 59), "Needed Me" for Rihanna (50 to 62) and the biggest fall of the week goes to last weeks Top 40 entry for Lady Gaga "Million Reasons" (37 to 82), which could rebound next week as her "Joanne" album is out as of Friday (21st October).
The new No.1 debut in the UK this week (only their third over there this year), is by Little Mix and "Shout Out to My Ex", which here is the highest new entry at No.16, becoming the girl troupes eleventh Top 50 entry and also their sixth Top 20 placing too. The recent No.2 "Papercuts" (TW-20) for local rapper and hip-hop artist Illy is joined in the Top 20 by his new track "Catch 22", which debuts at No.18 this week and features guest vocalist Anne-Marie, and this becomes his third Top 20 hit too.
Landing their seventeenth Top 50 entry this week are Maroon 5 who have teamed with Kendrick Lamar for this weeks No.21 entry "Don't Wanna Know", which is not from an upcoming album (as yet), but will be featured on the 'Just Dance 2017' video game, whilst this is the second Kendrick guest spot this week, as he is also on the No.7 track for this week "The Greatest" by Sia. At the other end of the Top 30 for this week is first time entrant Nevada with "The Mack", which heavily samples the 1996 song "Return of the Mack", and features the original singer of the song Mark Morrison plus current hip-hop artist Fetty Wap. In the past a cover version of the song by US rapper and artist Mann with Snoop Dogg and Iyaz on vocals also entitled "The Mack" (HP-68, 2011) charted here five years ago, whilst the original Mark Morrison version peaked at No.2 for two weeks in late August of 1996.
Finally the fifth and final Top 50 entry this week is from local twins The Veronicas with "On Your Side", which debuts at No.40 this week, replacing their recent No.1 song "In My Blood" (newly certified 2x▲Platinum this week) which drops from No.40 to No.45 this week. This new single (like the last) is from a forthcoming fourth album, which the girls are working on at the moment, and this becomes their fifteenth Top 50 entry since they first graced our charts back in 2005.
Lower 50: Last weeks jump to No.53 for "Capsize" by Frenship is this week up a single place to a new peak of No.52, whilst climbing seven spots to a new chart height of No.54 is Andy Grammer with "Fresh Eyes", after which twenty one pilots' entry from last week "Tear in My Heart" bullets up twenty-nine spots to land at No.60 this week. The song that debuted just ahead of that song last week in "Juju on That Beat (TZ Anthem)" for Zaylon McCall & Zay Hilfigerrr is up twenty-two spots this week to a new peak of No.66.
Hey Violet climb three spots from last weeks entry with "Guys My Age" to a new peak of No.78, Throttle with Aston Merrygold and LunchMoney Lewis is back up eighteen spots to No.81 with "Money Maker" (HP-65), and regaining the oldest charting single crown this week is Ed Sheeran with "Thinking Out Loud" (#1 this week in 2014), which is down six this week to No.84. There are three returning songs this week, first of which is "Lose Yourself" by Eminem at No.93, "Waste a Moment" for Kings of Leon at No.96 and "Lean On" by Major Lazer at No.97. There is only a single entry in the lower fifty this week, a dance/ambient house track called "Call on Me" by Sydney based singer songwriter Starley (Hope), which comes in at No.87 this week.
The current Channel 7 TV series "The Secret Daughter" starring local singer and actress Jessica Mauboy sees it's soundtrack debut at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart this week, and with Jess singing all of the song on the set, it also becomes her first National No.1 album.
"The Secret Daughter (Songs from the TV Series)" becomes the 786th No.1 Album in Australia (1965 to 2016) and the 637th for ARIA (1983 to 2016), plus the 432nd to debut in the top spot, and the 21st for the Sony (direct) label, and the fourth for them for 2016 after Anthony Callea (26th September), Delta Goodrem (July 11th) and Human Nature (1st & 8th of August), plus not only is this the first No.1 album for Jessica Mauboy, but she also becomes the first indigenous solo artist to debut at No.1 at the top of the Australian Albums chart, previously her appearance on the Soundtrack for the film "The Sapphires" (20th August, 2012, 2 wks) with other local artists was the first for such a feat for an indigenous act, but that album climbed into the top spot.
This is the third album to feature the word 'Secret' in it's title and the first with the word 'Daughter' and this new No.1 becomes the 208th chart-topper by an Australian Act (the 19th for 2016) and the 47th Soundtrack (TV or feature film, and the third for 2016; the most this decade and the most soundtracks for a year to hit the top since 2001 when we had three then too). Jessica becomes the 104th Australian act (solo or group) to hit the top and this is the 117th No.1 Album by a Female Solo Act (the sixth for 2016) and Jess also is now the 14th Solo Australian Female Artist to make it to the top of the Australian Albums Chart.
This now becomes the sixth TV Soundtrack to make it to No.1 and the second for this year after the "Molly" TV compilation went to the top for two weeks in February. Also it's a unique position for this album too in that all of the songs are performed by one artist, and this follows similar previous Soundtracks done by the one (or one major) act like "Beaches" for Bette Midler (June 1989), the Prince sung "Purple Rain"(August 1984), Dr. Dre's "Compton" (August 2015), and "Mamma Mia" was all ABBA songs (July 2008) and "Songs from Ally McBeal" by Vonda Shepherd (Oct 1998) even the Whitney Houston infused "Bodyguard" set (mostly) feature the star (Jan 1993).
Jess has now managed to send four of her five albums into the Top 10 (her second set peaked at No.11), as "The Journey" (LP#1, HP-4, March 2007), "Get 'em Girls" (LP#3, HP-6, Nov 2010) and her last set "Beautiful" (LP#4, HP-3, October 2013), so it's been three years since she last sent a new album onto the charts, and all of the songs on this new set are featured in her current TV series, including the five new tracks recorded for the album, whilst all the rest are covers of famous songs, and she is currently within the Top 40 with her cover of the Avicii No.1 single "Wake Me Up" which jumps back up nine spots this week to a new peak of No.34.
Debuting at No.2 is the latest Hillsong Worship album entitled "Let There Be Light", which becomes the church groups 22nd Top 10 album and 14th Top 3 set, whilst one place lower at No.3 is the new UK No.1 album for this week, "WALLS" (We Are Like Love Songs) for Kings of Leon, the bands seventh studio album and it becomes their fifth Top 5 album (and Top 10) here, and is their first album since their fourth set "Only By the Night" to not land in the No.1 spot in its first week, but that album did climb to the top spot the following week, so that could happen again, but with new stuff out this week for Lady Gaga, Elvis Presley and Michael Buble it most likely won't got to the top anytime soon.
Last weeks No.1 debut of "Triple J's "Like a Version Vol.12" is down three this week to No.4, whilst three more of last weeks seven Top 10 debuts stay for a second week within the ten, as "In the Now" for Barry Gibb is down two spots to No.5, "Revolution Radio" by Green Day falls four spots to No.6 and the Norah Jones set "Day Breaks" is down six places to No.10, whilst the other album safe for another week within the Top 10 is the "Suicide Squad: The Album" which is down two spots to No.7 and spending its eleventh week within the Top 10.
There are two more Top 10 debuts this week, first of which is at No.8, "Chemical Miracle" the second album for Newcastle punk band Trophy Eyes, and their first to land within the Top 10, as they released their debut album "Mend, Move on" back in 2014 (didn't chart), and then at No.9 is "Warriors" for local singer Lisa Mitchell, her third album and third successive Top 10 album, but she keeps peaking a little lower each time, as her first set "Wonder" debuted and peaked at No.6 for two weeks in August of 2009, and then her second set "Bless This Mess" entered at No.7 in late October of 2012 (four years ago this week).
UP: After leaving the Top 10 last week, both the "Trio Collection" for Dolly, Linda and Emmylou and "Chapter and Verse" for Bruce Springsteen are back up a couple of spots this week to No.12 and No.13 respectively, whilst climbing back up three to No.15 thanks to a new Top 15 single is the second Shawn Mendes album "Illuminate", and also climbing back up four to No.16 after its lowest chart placing so far is "25" by Adele. The cast recording of the currently playing "Dream Lover - The Bobby Darin Story" starring David Campbell jumps back up nine spots to No.17 and after debuting at No.22 last week, the D.D.Dumbo album "Utopia Defeated" is up two places this week to a new peak of No.20. The INXS "Very Best of" set blasts back up twenty-three spots to No.21 this week in its 217th week within the Top 100, and also jumping back up is the Ariana Grande album "Beautiful Woman", which leaps twenty-two spots to No.28. Human Nature rise back up eleven spots to No.31 with their recent No.1 set "Gimme Some Lovin': Jukebox Vol.II", the "Greatest Hits" set for Fleetwood Mac zooms up fifty-six places to No.34, and also returning to the Top 50 this week are "50 Best Songs" from Play School (51 to 41) and the "Notion" EP for Tash Sultana (54 to 45).
DOWN: "Ripcord" (HP-1x2, WI10-17) for Keith Urban is down four to No.11 this week after his recent NRL Grand Final performance, and with his tour here in early December the set won't fall much for the rest of the year. Three weeks ago Sticky Fingers debuted at No.1 with "Westway (The Glitter & the Slums)" (HP-1x1, WI10-2) but this week the album drops sixteen places to No.26, whilst the three other albums that fall out of the ten all debuted within that chart region last week, "The Last Hero" for Alter Bridge (6 to 33), "Oh My My" for OneRepublic (8 to 36) and "The Violent Sleep of Reason" for Meshuggah (9 to 40). After his tickets sales burst last week, the Justin Bieber set "Purpose" is back down seven this week to No.18, "22, A Million" for Bon Iver drops eleven to No.23, "Encore" for Barbra Streisand is down six to No.29 and the only new certification on the albums chart this week, achieving Gold (●) in sales, after which further falls occur for Paul Kelly & Charlie Owen (16 to 30), 'Bridget Jones's Baby' Soundtrack (29 to 42), John Williamson (36 to 46) and Opeth (34 to 49), whilst tumbling into the lower fifty this week are Ed Sheeran's "x" (19 to 53), it's first week out of the Top 50 ever, "1989" by Taylor Swift (17 to 57), Sia (44 to 60, re-packed album came out on Friday, so expect a rebound next week), Julia Jacklin (49 to 61), Anthony Callea (43 to 65), Sum 41 (13 to 67), The Sunny Cowgirls (39 to 68), Meghan Trainor's first album "Title" (24 to 70), Van Morrison (31 to 71), Solange (30 to 76), and Banks (35 to 92), whilst falling out of the Top 100 from last weeks fifty are NOFX (#27), The Weeknd (#40) and Melissa Etheridge (#40).
Coming in at No.14 is the sixth album for US act The Dillinger Escape Plan entitled "Dissociation", and is their second Top 50 and third Top 100 entry and now highest charting set, beating the No.45 peak of their fifth album "One of Us is the Killer" (June 2013) and their first entry here was with their fourth set "Option Paralysis" (HP-53, April 2010). The eighth studio album for US rapper The Game entitled "1992" comes in at No.19 and becomes his seventh album to chart here and first since his 2014 collaboration with Blood Money "Blood Moon: Year of the Wolf" (HP-27, Nov 2014).
Irish indie band Two Door Cinema Club debut at No.24 with their third studio album "Gameshow", which becomes their third album to chart here, previously they charted with "Tourist History" (LP#1, HP-44, Feb 2011) and then their highest charting set so far "Beacon" (LP#2, HP-4, Sept 2012). A few places lower at No.27 is the new album for Andre Rieu entitled "Falling in Love", and another act debuting with their third studio album this week are New Zealand act The Naked and Famous with "Simple Forms" which is new at No.37, and follows on from "Passive Me - Aggressive You" (LP#1, HP-25, Jan 2011) and "In Rolling Waves" (LP#2, HP-12, Sept 2013).
US actress, singer and songwriter Sabrina Carpenter sees her second album "EVOlution" debut at No.44 this week, followed at No.47 by "Every Now & Then" by Jagwar Ma, the second album for local Sydney psychedelic rock band and their first to make it into the Top 50, as their first set "Howlin'" made it to No.71 in June of 2013, whilst the final Top 50 debut for this week come in at No.48, JoJo with "Mad Love", her third album and first new set in just over ten years (2006 was her last one), with this now becoming her highest charting album in Australia, as she only charted previously with her debut self-titled set reached No.86 in September of 2004.
Lower 50: Troy Cassar-Daley is back up twenty-eight places to No.54 with "Things I Carry Around", a repackaged "Storyteller" as a Deluxe Edition returns to the Top 100 at No.56, the "Frozen" soundtrack is back up fourteen to No.74, and further returning albums come from U2 with "U218 Singles" (#77), the recently re-screened movie on TV "Guardians of the Galaxy" (#78), "The Ultimate Collection" for Creedence Clearwater Revival (#89) and the musical cast recording for "Matilda" (#96).

Normally, I'd post some debut preds but itunescharts.net is having some server issues. Manually checking 200+ daily iTunes chart positions for 30-odd tracks? Ain't nobody got time for that!

Am I correct in thinking there are only 5 songs that have charted for 100+ weeks?
Also interested to see if Uptown Funk can be the first song to make 3 consecutive EOY lists, as well as being the first song to chart for 2 full calendar years. Last edited:
1. Vance Joy - Riptide: 123 weeks 2. Lady Gaga - Poker Face: 106 weeks 2. Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud: 106 weeks 4. Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling: 105 weeks 5. Mark Ronson Feat. Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk: 101 weeks
Uptown Funk will be JUST in or JUST out of the YE Top 100. It has a chance if it keeps performing well until the end of the year.
I hope Uptown Funk doesn't make three consecutive EOY lists and/or such a thing becomes a trend because it will break my site. I'd have to rewrite the code and that would be a major pain in the anoos.
If it's at all re-assuring, I do think we're witnessing an anomaly. One of the absolute biggest hits of all time and it just happened to be released in November so it has the easiest chance to do so. Surprisingly streaming isn't a factor in it since Uptown Funk is always top 100 on sales (I think). It's actually getting harder to get these sorts of runs because it requires some level of stability on both charts that not many songs can accomplish. Disturbed are STILL top 50 on iTunes, but left the top 200 on Spotify months ago so they're not even on the chart, while Lean On is able to stay top 80 on streams almost every week (which is the highest song that's more than a year & a bit old), but its sales are almost non-existent so it usually is outside the chart nowadays. The markets don't compliment each other at all, but Uptown Funk is SO big that it doesn't matter.

Didn't expect Jessica Mauboy to sell over 10,000 units this week! It's becoming increasingly rare this year.
Nice to see Adele spend a year in the Top 100 with Hello.
Looks like Top 10 on streaming has outdone Top 10 digital for the first time ever!

Well, Uptown Funk's chances of an unprecedented three consecutive ARIA EOY chart appearances have probably improved due to the song being back in the news...
Every time I hear Uptown Funk I have flashbacks to Michael Jackson's Jam. At least this is a 'current' claim of stealing. I'm never a fan of those that wait 30 years to make the claim.
Heh. There's a 2016 ARIA debut that reminded me of Jam too but I can't remember it off the top of my head. I'm sure I'll return to this thread when I hear it next.
