Ed Sheeran lands his longest running No.1 single in Australia this week, as "Shape of You" stays atop the ARIA Singles Chart for a sixth straight week, whilst his "Castle on the Hill" is still over looking his shape, by staying stable at No.2 for a sixth week also.

Ed's Grammy performance during the week helps to keep the track flying high, and he has now amassed twelve weeks at No.1 on the Australian Singles chart with his three No.1's, moving him to ouright ninth on the list for 'Accumulated Weeks at No.1: Singles; 2010's', and if he stays again next week he will tie with Adele and Justin Bieber on 13 accumulated weeks. Plus I have added Ed's tally to the list for 'Most Weeks at No.1: Singles (1940 to 2017)', and he is now equal 64th on that list, along with The Carpenters (3 #1's), Paul McCartney and Racey (2 #1's each).

With the film 'Fifty Shades of Darker' opening on the 9th of February, we have now had a full week of sales for the soundtrack (which debuts at No.1), plus it also helps the albums lead single from Zayn and Taylor Swift with "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" to return to its orginal entry and peak position of No.3 this week, whilst we could see two further tracks enter the Top 100 soon (they debut on the digital chart this week), with Sia and "Helium" (DL #24) and the Corrine Bailey Rae cover of the Coldplay track "The Scientist" (DL #38), plus the albums second single from Halsey "Not Afraid Anymore" (HP-55) returns to the Top 100 at No.96 this week.

The highest of three new Top 100 entries this week is at No.4 and it is from Katy Perry entitled "Chained to the Rhythm", featuring guest vocalist Skip Marley. This is the lead single from her fourth studio album (no date or title known as yet), and becomes her 22nd Top 100 entry, 13th Top 10 and by entering at No.4 it becomes her 12th Top 5 single, plus it got an extra boost this past week when she performed the song (with Skip) at The Grammy Awards.

The next three songs are all stable this week, with The Chainsmokers and "Paris" at No.5, Pnau staying at No.6 with "Chameleon", which is now ▲Platinum, and on hold at it's No.7 peak is Julia Michaels and her track "Issues". After two weeks at No.3 the Amy Shark song "Adore" drops five places to No.8, whilst down one spot each are Clean Bandit and "Rockabye" (newly 3x▲Platinum in sales) and Andy Grammer and his "Fresh Eyes" to No.9 and No.10 respectively.

* Snakehips and MØ are stable at No.12 for a second week with "Don't Leave", which is newly certified Gold (●) in sales.
* Martin Garrix and Dua Lipa move up one spot to a new peak of No.14 with "Scared to be Lonely".
* Jon Bellion blasts up twelve places to land within the Top 20 at a new peak of No.16 with his first chart entry "All Time Low".
* Sage the Gemini holds at No.19 for a third straight week with "Now and Later".
* Also on hold at No.23 are Frenship with Emily Warren with "Capsize", now 2x▲Platinum.
* The film "Lion" was No.1 in the Australian box-office for the past three weeks (down to No.2 this week), and from the film is the Sia song "Never Give Up", which climbs three to a new peak of No.30 this week.
* With his debut album landing within the Top 3 this week, the title track to his album "Human" (HP-17) is back up seven places to No.41 this week, whilst his follow-up "Skin" moves up a couple of spots to No.88.
* The big Grammy winner this past week was Adele for her third album "25", plus her two performances on the show helps her current single "Water Under the Bridge" to climb three places to a new peak of No.35, and she also scores two re-entries in the lower fifty, with show-opener "Hello" returning at No.89 and then "Send My Love (to Your New Lover)" back in at No.94.
* Flume picked up his first Grammy this week, for 'Best Electronic Album', and the already award winning song "Never Be Like You" (ARIA Award, #1 selling Oz single of 2016, Triple J Hottest 100 winner for 2016) is again back up, rising this time three places to No.36 this week.
* Jax Jones and Raye break into the Top 40 this week with "You Don't Know Me", up six to No.38.
* The Vamps continue their steady climb up the chart with "All Night", up two to No.41 this week.
* Bruno Mars performed at The Grammys twice, secondly dressed as 'Purple Rain' era Prince to perform one of his songs, and earlier he wowed the ladies with his latest single "That's What I Like", which here climbs nine spots to a new peak of No.51.
* Big Sean rises six places to a new peak of No.52 with "Bounce Back".
* "Cold Water" is stable at No.54 for Major Lazer and Justin Bieber, plus it's 4x▲Platinum too.
* The iPod ad featuring Marian Hill's track "Down" has helped the duo's track to leap twenty spots this week to a new chart height of No.56.
* X-Factor 2016 winner Isaiah again climbs with "It's Gotta Be You", up six to No.61.
* Longest Charted single again goes to Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud", which is back up four places to No.70 this week, whilst his "Photograph" jumps back up nine places to No.78.
* Local artists Pon Cho and Paige IV are back up five spots to No.77 with "Frozen" (HP-66).

* The only song leaving the Top 10 is by Grammy performers The Weeknd and Daft Punk and the song they did on the night "I Feel it Coming" (HP-7x3, WI10-6), which is down one to No.11, whilst their first pairing "Starboy" bookends the Top 20, down four to No.20 this week.
* Little Mix peaked at No.13 last week with "Touch", which drops back two spots this week to No.15, but is newly crowned Gold (●) in sales.
* Train's 'chopsticks' infused track "Play That Song" leaves the Top 20 by dropping three spots to No.21, and is now ▲Platinum certified.
* Three weeks ago (after the J 100) Milky Chance leapt to No.10 with "Cocoon", which now drops back down five spots this week to No.25.
* Peking Duk and Elliphant fall six to No.27 with "Stranger".
* Maroon 5 released a new single "Cold" on Friday, as their former No.6 single "Don't Wanna Know" with Kendrick Lamar drops five to No.37 this week.
* After peaking at No.34 last week, "Bad and Boujee" for Migos is back down five to No.39.
* Steve Aoki and Louis Tomlinson fall six spots to No.42 with "Just Hold on".
* Last weeks No.33 debut for Imagine Dragons and "Believer" falls back down ten to No.43.
* The Chainsmokers track "All We Know" is down eight to No.60 and now 2x▲Platinum in sales.
* Illy and Anne-Marie tumble down eighteen places to No.65 with "Catch 22".
* The Auli'i Cravalho version of "How Far I'll Go" from the 'Moana' soundtrack drops down eight spots to No.76, whilst the Dwayne Johnson single "You're Welcome" (HP-77) leaves the Top 100.
* Another of last weeks entries drops down in "Not Easy" for Alex da Kid, falling eighteen to No.91.

* #85 - Don't Kill My Vibe by Sigrid is the first entry for this Norwegian singer/songwriter, the song produced by Martin Sjølie who has worked with Ella Henderson, Sam Smith and Nathan Sykes.
* #93 - Ciao Adios by Anne-Marie is the sixth Top 100 entry for this English singer, three as a solo artist, the other three as guest vocalist, two of which are still charting in "Rockabye" with Clean Bandit (HP-1x2, TW-9) and "Catch 22" with Illy (HP-11, TW-65), whilst her highest charting (solo) single was last years "Alarm" (HP-7, peaked August 2016).

For the first time EVER a second soundtrack from a film series has not only topped the ARIA Albums chart, but has also debuted in the No.1 spot, as this week the "Fifty Shades Darker" soundtrack takes out the top spot of three high new entries.

"Fifty Shades Darker" becomes the 797th No.1 Album in Australia (1965 to 2017) and the 648th for ARIA (1983 to 2017), plus the 441st to debut at No.1 and the fourth soundtrack to do so (the first being "Fifty Shades of Grey" (16th Feb, 2015), and it also now the fourteenth No.1 album for the Univeral (direct) label, and finally the 49th film/TV soundtrack to make it to the top of the Australian Albums chart.

As I mentioned at the top of the albums section, this is first time that a second soundtrack from a film series has also topped the albums chart after the first soundtrack did, as two years ago the "Fifty Shades of Grey" set become the first ever soundtrack to debut at No.1, spending four weeks at the top. Now the second lands a No.1 debut, and it also becomes the second ever sequel soundtrack to make it to the top, as "Shrek 2" spent a single week at No.1 on the 26th of July in 2004 (the first 'Shrek' soundtrack peaked at No.2 for three weeks in January 2002). We have had two soundtracks from a TV series claim No.1's though, as the Glee Volume 3 (2 wks from 31st May, 2010) and Volume 5 (1 wk on 21st March, 2011) both topped the Australian Album charts, but as I said earlier, this is the first time a film series has landed two No.1's sets here, not even a second No.1 for the Grease, Bridget Jones, Twilight or High School Musical series, but there are plans for a sequel to 'Frozen' (#1 for 2 wks from 5th May, 2014, TW back up nineteen spots to No.76), so that could be the next double-up of soundtracks at the top.

The fourth studio album for Blue Mountains, NSW trio Thundamentals entitled "Everyone We Know" debuts at No.2, becoming the Aussie hip-hop acts third chart entry, second Top 10 album and now highest charting set, as they previously peaked at No.3 with their third album "So We Can Remember" (May 2014), whilst they first charted with their second album "ForeverEvolution" (HP-64, Aug 2011). The new album has so far seen two singles chart, "Late Nights" (HP-97, July 2016) and "Think About it" (HP-93, Nov 2016)

New at No.3 is the debut album for British singer Rag'N'Bone Man (Rory Graham) entitled "Human", which debuted at No.1 in his home country this week too, and here it has seen the singles "Human" (HP-17, TW-34) and "Skin" (HP-87, TW-88) chart so far. Five time Grammy winner this past week was Adele and her album "25", which picked up 'Album of the Year', and sees it climb back up three places to No.4, and with Guns N' Roses touring the country at the moment, their "Greatest Hits" is this week up five spots to land at a new peak of No.5, having formerly made it to No.6 for four broken weeks in April and May of 2004.

There are still three soundtrack albums within the Top 10 again this week, with the new fifty#2 entering at No.1, it sends the 'Sing' set out, but still in is the "Trolls" set, down four to No.6 and falling five spots to No.9 is the current New Zealand No.1 set 'Moana'. Also falling this week are Human Nature with "Gimme Some Lovin'; Jukebox Vol.II" to No.8 and "x" for Ed Sheeran to No.10. In between all of those dropping albums is the fourth Top 10 debut for this week, the twelfth studio album for local country singer Adam Brand entitled "Get on Your Feet", which by landing at No.7 this week becomes his fifth Top 10 album, one place lower than his January 2016 eleventh album "Adam Brand & the Outlaws" (HP-6).

* Grammy winner and performer on the night in Beyonce sees her "Lemonade" set blast back up thirty spots this week to No.12.
* Guns N' Roses not only land a new peak for their GH set, but they also have four albums within the Top 40 this week, with their breakout album "Appetite for Destruction" jumping up twenty-one spots to No.19, whilst their dual sets "Use Your Illusion" both surge back up, Vol.II (63 to 33) and Vol.I (59 to 35).
* Adele's third album isn't the only one rising, as her second set "21" is back up ten spots to No.28 and her first album "19" is up twenty-seven places to land at No.50.
* Flume's Grammy win for 'Electronic Dance Album" for "Skin" sees it rise six places to No.29.
* Metallica's bad-tech-filled Grammy performance with Lady Gaga doesn't diminish a rise for their latest album "Hardwired... to Self Destruct", back up seven places to No.30.
* Prince's back catalogue was placed on streaming services for the first time this past week, and that has helped his "Very Best of" collection to return to the chart at No.45 this week.
* Italian Ambient Classical artist Ludovico Einaudi is touring Australia up until the 19th of February, which helps his current album "Elements" to rise thirty-one spots to a new peak of No.54 this week.
* Grammy nominated (but no wins) Justin Bieber sees his "Purpose" set rise back up seventeen spots to No.56.
* The new James Blundell covers album "Campfire" rises this week thirteen spots to a new peak of No.58.
* Back up fifteen places to No.66 is the Robbie Williams set "The Heavy Entertainment Show".
* Illy rebounds twenty-one places to No.72 with his former No.1 set "Two Degrees".
* The Michael Jackson "Essential" set is back up twenty spots to No.79.
* The recent ticket sales for the upcoming Green Day tour help "Revolution Radio" to rise back up six places this week to No.88.
* The second of only four returning albums this week is back in at No.89, "The Very Best of" for Fleetwood Mac, whilst also re-entering is "Blackstar" for David Bowie, which won several Grammy Awards this week, back in at No.94, with Carrie Underwood resurfacing at No.99 with "Storyteller" set.

* Bruno Mars is only down one spot to No.13 with his "24K Magic", which is the only new Top 100 certified album this week, now Gold (●) in sales.
* The first of four Top 10 dropouts is Kasey Chambers' "Dragonfly" (HP-1x1, WI10-3), down five places to No.14, followed by the soundtrack to the film "Sing" (HP-2, WI10-6), down seven to No.15, and last weeks No.1 debut for Dune Rats in "The Kids Will Know it's Bullshit" (HP-1x1, WI10-1) tumbles down sixteen places to No.17, but is nothing compared to the final Top 10 dropout, "The Rhapspdy Tapes" for Ocean Grove (HP-5, WI10-1), which is down a massive fifty-eight spots to land at No.63 this week.
* The "La La Land" soundtrack drops five places to No.18, but could rise again once the Oscar wins start rolling in (maybe?).
* The McClymonts are down ten places to No.32 with their latest album "Endless".

* Now that their tour is finished, the self-titled QSP album drops fifteen places to No.47.

* #20 (EP#1) - Belmont Street (EP) by Jess & Matt is the pair's first EP and second albums chart entry for the duo from the 2015 X-Factor series, as their self-titled debut album made it to No.9 in early January of 2016.
* #22 (LP#1) - Final Notice by Jay UF is the debut album for the Sydney rapper.
* #55 (LP#18) - The Grinding Wheel by Overkill is the first ARIA Albums Chart entry for the New Jersey thrash metal band.

* #85 (LP#2) - Malibu by Anderson .Paak is the second album (first released Jan 2016) for the US RnB and hip-hop artist who was nominated for a few Grammy Awards this past week, and this is his first solo chart entry, although he was a part of the duo NxWorries whose debut set "Yes Lawd!" made it to No.48 in November of 2016.

There are at least 6 songs that should have charted this week that didn't
Heh. I thought only 3 debuts was weird, given that there were 31 debuts in the iTunes Top 100 this past week.
Clearly ARIA didn't want to overwork me too much the day before the combined broadcast :')
I've added this week's ARIA Top 100 Singles chart entries to my site.

Hear them all here - http://top100singles.blogspot.com/2016/12/every-aria-top-100-single-in-2017.html
What songs should've debuted?

Helium not charting is strange. It didn't even make the digital chart. Unless the record company didn't allow it to chart.

Glad that Zaynor didn't climb to #2
I reckon the top 3 tracks from 50 Shades should've made it, oddly they're lower than expected on digital tracks, but nonetheless. There's also "Solo Dance" which at this point has enough streams to chart even if/though no one's buying it. Illy's new single *might* not have sold enough to chart but it should have at least made the AU chart, and of course Notion probably should have charted, but just like Jungle, I suspect ARIA aren't counting the radio edit's streams.
Helium and The Scientist entered the digital chart, and I have mentioned these in my chartifacts, which I just updated. Lower 50 and info on Monday.
