Five years after making her first chart appearance in Australia (1st of April, 2013) Ariana Grande returns to the chart this week with her first No.1 song, debuting at the top with "No Tears Left to Cry", also her first release since the bomb attack at her Manchester Show in May 2017.

"No Tears Left to Cry" becomes the 1072nd No.1 song in Australia (1940 to 2018) and the 507th for ARIA (1983 to 2018), plus the 119th to debut at the top and the first to do so since mid-September of last year when Sam Smith did it with "Too Good at Goodbyes" (18th Sept), while it is also the sixth chart topping single for the Republic label and their third in a row after two Drake No.1's.

This is the first No.1 song with 'Tears' in its title (the closest previously was 'Teardrops' for Womack & Womack in Feb 1989. 1wk), the second with a 'Left' within its title ("Left Outside Alone" for Anastacia was the other one back on 10th of May, 2004, 1 wk) and the sixth with a 'Cry' in its title. Ariana becomes the 98th solo Female America singer to hit the top (the last was Camila Cabello on 20th of Nov, 2017), and the 410th America artist (solo, duo or group) to hit No.1 here and also the song is the 689th performed by an American act. The song also debuted at the top in Ireland and came in at No.2 in England and Germany, and No.4 in New Zealand

The song also becomes Ariana's sixth Top 10 single, with her 1st of May 2014 appearance alongside Iggy Azalea and "Problem" being her first Top 10 here (HP-2, 8th of May), and this song serves as the lead single from her forthcoming fourth studio album (no date or title known as yet), plus it also the No.1 digital selling track and came in at No.2 on the streaming chart, something which Drake has not achieved during the past twelve weeks at the top, as his two former No.1's achieved their No.1 status on streaming points mostly, with "God's Plan" peaking at No.3 on the digital chart and "Nice for What" peaked at No.9 last week (down to No.19 this week).

Drake lasted one week at the top of the overall Top 100 chart with "Nice for What" which is down one place to No.2, and holds onto the top of the streaming chart and remains at No.1 in New Zealand, America and his home country of Canada, while his previous No.1 song "God's Plan" drops down five spots to land at No.8. The Post Malone song "Psycho" leaves the No.2 spot for the first time since its debut nine weeks ago, down one to No.3, but with his new album "Beerbongs and Bentleys" came out on Friday, and it could debut at the top next week and boost this song into the top spot, unless Ariana can hold on, while on hold are "Love Lies" for Khalid with Normani and "Call Out My Name" for The Weeknd at No.4 and No.5 respectively. The current English and new German No.1 song for Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa with "One Kiss" is up three places to a new peak of No.6 thanks in part to them performing the song on the 'Graham Norton Show' last week (here), while dropping down are "Freaky Friday" for Lil' Dicky and Chris Brown (6 to 7), "Friends" for Marshmello and Anne-Marie (7 to 9, Anne-Marie had her debut album released on Friday so this could get a boost back up next week, as it's on the album) and "The Middle" for Zedd & Grey with Maren Morris (8 to 10).

* Last weeks entry for Bazzi and "Cosmic" drops back down thirty-six spots to No.77.
* Falling out from last weeks Top 50 were albums by Pentatonix (#26), the 'Johnny Cash: Forever Words' tribute album (#28), Confidence Man (#31) and The Hard Aches (#36), with further debuts from last week leaving for Stonefield (#61), Chalkie White (#64) and Tinashe (#76).

FURTHER NEW ENTRIES:
* #1 (LP#5) - KOD by J. Cole

* #2 (LP#4) - Eat the Elephant by A Perfect Circle

* #6 (LP#3) - Best of My Love by Samantha Jade

* #18 (LP#12) - Never Gonna Die by Pennywise is the US punk bands tenth albums chart entry here in Australia, and their first in almost four years as their eleventh set "Yesterdays" debuted and peaked at No.16 in July of 2014, with this being their fourth Top 20 debut and peak set, while they claimed a Top 10 berth with one album, their fifth set "Straight Ahead" (HP-8, June 1999).

* #31 (LP#3) - Primal Heart by Kimbra is the New Zealand singers first to not claim a Top 10 placing in both Australia and in N.Z., the album debuting at No.12 this week on her native chart, while here she peaked at No.4 here with her first album "Vows" (Sept 2011) and No.5 with her second album "The Golden Echo" (August 2014).

* #38 (LP#13+LP#11) - 44/876 by Sting and Shaggy is named after the international phone codes for both England (44) and Jamaica (876) of which the two acts come from, and this is the first teaming for the pair, with it also being the fifth albums chart entry for Shaggy (and his first since July 2003 when his "Lucky Day" album returned for two weeks hitting No.88 {original peak #75 in Nov 2002}) and it is also the sixteenth albums chart entry here for Sting with his last entry being "57th & 9th" (HP-9, Nov 2016).

* #47 (LP#4) - Sonder by TesseracT is the UK progressive metal acts fourth studio album and first to hit the ARIA Albums Chart, and is supposedly the bands shortest running album of the four, clocking in at 36 minutes in length.

* #83 (LP#10) - Italianissimo - Patrizio Buanne is the sixth albums chart entry here for the Italian crooner who will most likely rise in the next couple of weeks with this album just in time for Mothers Day in a few weeks time. He last charted here in 2016 with "Bravo Patrizio" (HP-45) and this new set features covers of such Italian songs as "Ti Amo", "Volare", "Ciao Bambino", "Eh Cumpari", plus several English and Spanish sung songs too.

* #91 (LP#1) - Church of Stars by Bishop Briggs, who was born Sarah Grace McLaughlin and took the stage name Bishop Briggs after the town she was born in Bishopbriggs in Scotland in 1992, with this her debut album and it follows on from two self-titled EP's released in 2016 and 2017.

By listening to her album on Spotify once, I gave Samantha Jade about 1/3500 of her streaming points :')

Oh god, are we *really* gonna have *another* ALBUM flood the SINGLES chart? That would make it four times in the past five weeks. It's getting way beyond a joke now and it has to stop!
Yeah its pretty annoying but what other albums besides B&B and KOD have flooded the singles chart?
Cardi B's album and The Weeknd's mini-album.
Be nice if ARIA followed the UK's lead and limit how many songs can chart from an album at one time - also known as the Ed Sheeran rule. I'd even be happy if the rule was after 2 weeks of release all songs from an album can chart.
