Excellent ballad, Best song of 2011 for me.

Easily one of my favourite songs of the last few years (I would have to go back to 2007 to find a song that I liked more). She sounds amazing, and she really captures the emotion that she has written about. I love the simple piano backing, it really makes her voice shine. The video is amazing as well, very simple and effective, which parallels the song as a whole (simple + effective). I'm so happy this was a massive hit and I think it has started a shift towards radio's gradual acceptance of ballads once again. We haven't had a big ballad at #1 for a very long time (let along a solely piano and voice ballad). Amazing, amazing track.

I agree that this was by far the best performance on the Brits and I'm very happy to see that it's going to hit #1 spot on the UK charts over the much overrated Gaga track.

Edit: this thing simply won't go away. I am now sick to death of this song and Adele.
5 --> 1.5

Agree with the other comments seeing her perform this at our Brit Awards was definately a moment and proves amongst all the explosive big productions an amazing vunerable voice and piano is all you really need. The fact she had to fight back tears at the end of the performance also shows how raw the song is for her. Knew this would instantly go to #1 afterwards. Also agree that it's good she topped our charts instead of the big massive pr and constant presence of GaGa and Rihanna everywhere. 520,889 sold while at #1. UK#1 for 5 weeks and Ireland#1. US#1. 1.5 million copies sold in the UK.

Her first UK million+ selling single.

Absolutely phenomenal. After her performance at the BRIT awards, this brilliantly structured and beautifully performed song will go down as one of the best songs of the the new century. Adele is such a talent and her voice is simply extraordinary in this song.
Great song, I love the raw emotion :D

I never could manage to like this a whole lot. Not because ballads aren't my style, and this is certainly very competently done, but I feel like there's just so much better to offer on "21" that this seems far less compelling by comparison. It was lovely to see this go to #1 in the charts, but I'm also very glad that in Australia, "Rolling In The Deep" has I believe sold just slightly more copies than it. 4.3

Oh. My. God. Her BRIT performance of this was brilliant. Beautiful song.

EDIT - 5* -> 6* I am in love with this song.

Love this song! Is written well and sung beautifully. She is a cross between dido and amy winehouse!
Excellent vocals, great lyrics and a cool sound. Great way to close out the album.
An amazing track which has been subject to overexposure, I can no longer rate this a 6.

Amazing song.

It is so emotional and, for most people, easy to relate to, which probably contributed to it's huge success in the UK, as well as Tge incredible Brits Performance.

Great ballad.

Initially I wasn't very interesting in this song, but after a while it sank it that this is such an amazing song! Perfect vocals and enjoyable for all ages, and it only peaked at #4 on my chart! :)

The beginning reminds me so much of One Republic's "Secrets". Nevertheless, both songs are good. Adele's got such a beautiful voice and I love the lyrics. I only wish it was a bit shorter, 'cos towards the end it's way to repetitive
okay, but not as good as RITD.
But you got to admit, her vocals
EDIT: starting to become boring and partially annoying.

I only had to hear one chorus to understand her vocal brilliance, though not as good as RITD, still a brilliant song.

EDIT: Her singing this live gives me goosebumps. Amazing track, getting a bit old but great to see it go to number one.

Great Track, I still enjoy it a lot but it's hard to admit to liking this tune when you dread seeing everybody jumping onto the nearest piano in stie to play this and you want to saw their hands off, also somehow manages to overshadow the superior Rolling In The Deep.

dit is pas muziek maken hoe het moet
het suc6 van Adele is meer dan verdiend
Goed goed goed !!!
Always moves me to tears. How could you not love this?
Really good vocals once more, supported by superb lyrics. Vocals and piano is all you really need for this to be a great song. Also, her live performance at the brit awards was fantastic! she's literally better live than recorded!

EDIT: It's grown on me even more now and now i am totally in love with this song!

its not amazing but its nice to have a real song at #1. for probably the first time since around 1995.

24/2 edit: I think this is very overrated and average. Music should be about the music and not about the artist and her 'story'.

Such a pleasant surprise this is No.1
Very nice .
Horrible song. Hate it.
Simply stunning and beautiful song that is made all the better thanks to the gorgeous vocals. Very welcome number one track.
Surprised by it's lengthy but welcomed stay at #1.

Topped my personal chart for 4 weeks.

Came in at #5 on my TOP 200 OF 2011.

Brilliant stunning track. Adele's vocals are spot on as always and the song is full of emotion. Very deserving of its success.
I just love that song!!! And I love Adele of course!!!
a suprise hit, its fantastic
Overrated, depressing and terrible, just terrible. A complete disaster.

Well performed ballad worthy of its success. But not quite one of the great ballads in my mind.
this song is one of the best from 21!!!
Annoying song. Every time this song is played on radio I turn it off.
Great that a ballad spent so long at #1 on the Australian charts in this era of club tracks and ringtones. It's a pity that radio flogged the song to death and refuse to actually let it die. Because of the overplay, I find the piano to be really annoying as it goes no where and just repeats itself adnauseum. Vocally quite good.
I like it!
Melancholic piano ballad; she has a nice voice.
Avskyr den här låten
this song is good, but gets boring too faster
Increible canción, Increible Adele!
Adele's vocal ability is amazing and spectacular, but the song is obviously very overrated and overplayed
Even though I heard it a billion times during the space of two months thankfully it has recovered from overplay.

A fantastic song that is just that little bit better than Rolling In The Deep. Such an amazing and deserving number one. This will definitely be remembered for years to come as a classic from 2011.

Too much, too loud.
Sweet piano ballad.
6 stars
not as good as rolling or set fire.
Starts well then quite boring. The voice is tiring and seems to be struggling. Sounds even off-key. But Adele is a great singer and she deserves her success. It is just that song I do not like and I could not get how it became such a great hit.

Absolutely dreadful and overrated. Originally it would have gotten a 2 or 3 but the more I heard it the more I hated it and after hearing it multiple times a day at work, sometimes even 4 times a day the constant groaning and moaning has made it permanently unbearable.
very good
i used to hate this song during a few months because it was massively overplayed, funny because it didn't happen with rolling in the deep.... aaaaaaanyways it's a great song (a bit overrated though)
Extremely good song, the best track on her album '21'. Live version is... wow... superb!
It's a very good song from Adele and has deserved the success it achieved.
Phenomenal song. Amazing ballad, she has an amazing voice. I do love "Rolling In the Deep" more, thought this is still superb.
