Pretty solid album, although you have to be able to get used to the vocals as they can be different at times. It's a little disappointing at the short tracklisting too, but it's an enjoyable enough listen.

Over time I grew to enjoy this more and more.

ARIA #1 HELL YEAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

Good album, standout tracks for me are Call It What You Want & Don't Stop (Color On The Walls).

Quite a solid album, there are a few tracks that are a bit redundant and slightly below average, however for the most part it's a very enjoyable listen with some really cool songs. Pumped Up Kicks is my clear standout.

A surprisingly decent debut album for Foster The People. It's excellent to see them successful worldwide, especially with their debut single "Pumped Up Kicks."

I instantly loved Pumped Up Kicks as soon as I discovered it, so I decided to listen to other singles that were released at the time. "Helena Beat" and "Houdini" were both really good tracks that I also enjoyed. It wasn't until later when "Call It What You Want" was released as the 3rd single where I thought I might give the album a try.

Hijinx and Bluezombie have similar thoughts to what I thought about the album. The vocals are certinaly very quirky and unique and they do take a while getting used to. However, it's the very dissonant and different synth/electronic sounds that are more grating if you're not used to them. These sounds aren't present in Pumped Up Kicks, but are more present in the album tracks.

Aside from that, this is a very cool album. Certainly what an alternative album should be. There's lots of sounds and styles that I have never heard of before and it's great to see a new band pushing new musical boundaries.

The only downside is that listening to this sort of music too much can eventually get too grating and annoying, or just plain boring. "Too full on for too long" is a good quote I would like to use here. It was evidently shown with Miss You, the 2nd last track on the album receiving a 3, the lowest rating of the album.

The highlight is definitely Pumped Up Kicks, however Call It What You Want is very close behind and is almost a 6. Helena Beat, Houdini, I Would Do Anything For You and Warrant are also good highlights from the album.

Track listing: (Numbers in brackets indicate rating of 6, * denote released singles)

It's not a completely consistent effort but the first half is terrific.

Yeah this needs an update, definitely a 5* now.
