****** Guy's 3rd album was a revelation. With that extraordinary voice and his pure musicality, Guy lets fly with Rock, Soul, Reggae, Jazz, Ballads, Inspirational, Pop - you want a genre, its there. "Can't Stop a River" is pure Soul, and a track I can never pass without pushing the repeat button. Elevator Love, Trade this Love are fun as is quite a few others, including that one beloved by the youngsters "Boyfriend" (performed in shows to much laughter).
The beautiful "Be Mine", reminiscent of the best of Nat King Cole, "Taller Stronger Better" (see review), the jazz of "Never Ever Said Goodbye" (on single of Elevator Love), and "Do Life" (on TSB single) are even more examples of the versatility of this artist, who started out as a drummer, plays anything on the keys, and is not a bad guitarist at all. Also a dab hand at the violin, but won't be enthralled if you ask him to play that!
WHOA!!! and the totally fabulous CLOSER TO THE SUN track, Beatlesque to the max, beautiful track, hints of rock hovering underneath. A CLASSIC, just out of its time atm - but just wait
Oh, Unbreakable too. How can I miss that heartbreaker. Last edited: 05/12/2008 05:40
****** This album was criticised by many for being 'all over the place' stylewise, when it was first released in 2006. But that's one of the reasons I love it. And when you're an artist who can sing any style well, why not show it off. Best tracks for me are Stars Collide, I'm Gon Getcha, Unbreakable, Takin' Me Over (a sign of things to come), Can't Stop A River, the Beatle-esqe Closer to the Sun, Cover on My Heart ... excellent album.
****** Slightly better than his previous two efforts, Guy manages to deliver yet another amazing album. Filled with many different musical styles that make Guy's voice stand out.
