A relative lack of substance in this one but there are redeeming parts among the mix. Probably one of their weaker singles to date. 3.5

A mess.

I could have sworn they've done this exact same thing before. Saying that, I prefer this to Believer although it's not something I'm particularly interested in full stop.

THUNDER FEEL THE THUNDER THE LIGHTNING AND THE THUNDER THUNDER

This is fucking hilarious.

I would like Imagine Dragons so much more if I never actually listened to their music. I mean, they have a cool name, their artwork is seriously rad, and with titles like "Thunder" and "Radioactive", you'd think this is some ridiculous over-the-top symphonic metal about taking an epic quest across the seven seas or something.

This song recalls a feeling I had when "I Bet My Life" came out. The song just sounded unfathomably bad to me and no one else seemed to notice, this song just makes that seem tolerable in retrospect. Utter garbage in terms of songwriting and performance, while Lars Ulrich's bin-lid-in-the-parking-lot-behind-the-studio drums only serve to muddy things further. I know Imagine Dragons have had a lot of money pumped into promoting this album to make it a success, but I'm seriously impressed they've managed to get this to break through.

After their first album I had really gone off their music but I am pleasantly surprised by this.

Ganz solide Nummer, ohne mich gross zu begeistern.
Für ab und zu im Radio ganz ok, aber würde ich so nie öfters hören.

Their career path is so interesting. As many would know, Imagine Dragons were my favourite band in 2013, Night Visions is still one of, if not, my favourite albums ever, I have over 2000 listens of Imagine Dragons since my plays have been tracked by last.fm (just over 4 years), which is the most listens of any artist by about 40%.

So, how did we get here? I am dismayed by the sheer lack of effort. The lack of effort reminds me of Maroon 5's "Don't Wanna Know" last year, with Dan's vocals almost as lifeless as Adam Levine's there. What is with the production? The verses' attempted electro-trap production falls totally flat, remember when they at least pretended to be a rock band and at least had decent production? Those times seem so far away now. The chorus production is redeemable, but again, what is with the stupid vocals repeating 'thunder, thunder' over and over? It makes me want to bash my head against the wall. Another thing, I still love 'Demons', but I feel like that is the single track to blame for their terrible drum sections now, just another thing that ruins this song.

I'm more dirty on the band for becoming so cruddy in such a short space of time than the song itself, if it were by someone else, I wouldn't be half as bothered. It's just so sad that someone you can love so much can go and ruin it like this. I guess it's synonymous with my fading love for music, which over the past 12 months has increasingly just become a passing interest.

Odd that i haven't reviewed it yet, it's stuck in my head in the past days. The song is indeed different but it works here. 5*
