**** I thought this was nice, when she really goes for it, it isn't painful ala "Hallelujah".
For the record, the week when this was apparently the 54th highest selling song of the week, it really wasn't. It was during a (thankfully) shortlived period when ARIA decided to deduct sales from singles when people used the Complete My Album function on iTunes. In theory not a bad idea, but very questionable in practice, unless of course you believe that P!nk's "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" was miraculously so unpopular for a single week only to shoot straight back up. The nature of "Stay With Me Baby"'s promotion means that it never got the chance to shoot back up the following week; it was done. Nonetheless, it really should've been around #20 instead of #54. This is a chart drop that deserves a big fat asterisk next to it. Although, considering that such a rule implies that albums and singles are not separate entities, this would have actually been the 3rd highest selling song of that week, behind "You Won't Let Me" and "Hallelujah". Ha! :P Last edited: 24/04/2013 13:05
** The verses are boring and I find myself drifitng away until her screeching in the chorus brings me back and makes me want to reach for the stop button. For me this is probably the most ridiculous #1 ever on the ARIA due to the way it got there. It had nothing to do with people iking the song, it was all about ensuring she won the competition. You Won't Let Me (her true debut sungle) is much better even if it is boring. Is this the worst Australian #1, no but it will forever be the most ridiculous one. At least it broke the record held by My Heart Will Go On of largest fall from #1 (1 to 54) AND it wasn't caused by the deletion of the song.
