It's actually a pretty solid lead single from Katy Perry. I think it's something about that chorus that makes me like it. The video is sort of cool as well.

Really good.. A real smash hit!

Agree. Not a very strong lead single, but none of the lead singles she's had have been very strong. I Kissed A Girl worked because of the lyrics, California Gurls was a surprise #1, and Part of Me as the lead single for TD:CC wasnt very good either. Sure to be huge, and wont surprise me if it gets to #1.
****

Brilliant I love this already! I'm just so happy she's back.
****
Heard it this morning, and it is really lacking something. Maybe a few more listens and I'll love it, but for now, meh.

Oh who am I kidding, I kinda love it now lol

Pretty good, I prefer this over all of her lead singles.
****
I enjoy this after initially finding it meh. Easily one of Katy's best although I much prefer "Applause" by Lady Gaga which should've been the bigger hit of the 2. 9 weeks at #1 and 21 weeks in the top 10 is too much though. Although on the flipside I'm happy that its persistence kept "Hey Brother" from #1. I would've preferred Blurred Lines as the 2013 EOY #1 but this is good enough.

Really good for a lead single - better than california gurls and on par with I kissed a girl, catchy song - will do well.

Gran Tema. Katy Perry esta de vuelta!!
****
Her vocals haven't improved at all and I just feel like it has all been done before by her. Vaguely reminds me of a poor version of "Wide Awake" actually. I was excited for "Prism" but not so much now.

20/8 Okay, it's starting to grow now. 2* >> 3*

26/8 It is actually a fair bit better than the Teenage Dream era. 3* >> 4*

30/5 Still not happy that it's the most sold song of 2013, but it remains a solid pop track

Could this be anymore bland. 2.5*
****
It's alright, but she has better singles. This sounds exactly like Sara Bareille's 'Brave', it's actually ridiculous how similar they are.
***
I remember first hearing what her new single was going to be called and thinking it has to be 'Raw', but oddly both titles would hypothetically work for the sound she's going for. Anyway, back on a relevant train of thought: it's not actually too bad. The higher notes are yet again an issue for me as I don't think she's a strong enough vocalist to get it right. Still though, that's a minor problem because this doesn't really have any overtly irritating aspects about it like so many of her songs do. As far as lead singles go, this is far better than the cruddy 'California Gurls' and perhaps on par with 'I Kissed A Girl'. Easily better than most of her Teenage Dream output. I wouldn't say it's impressive, but I am surprised somewhat.
*****
On first listen, I'm underwhelmed. Pretty basic, with cheesy as hell lyrics. My main issue with this is, Katy has released numerous teaser videos online for this song, showing that she is moving on from the "Teenage Dream" era, so I was expecting a much different sound. This could easily be on the "Teenage Dream" album, it doesn't set itself apart from her previous sound. I think she should have taken more time off to get a better sound. While it's a listenable track and isn't as irritating as previous singles, it's just nothing new, which is extremely disappointing.

EDIT: I did begin to like it a lot more than "Applause" ironically and began to see the appeal. It is an enjoyable, catchy song and hasn't got boring after the amount of times I hear it on radio daily. Although I don't think this songs worthy of 9 weeks at number one, I would gladly see this at number one at the top of the ARIA Charts, than some of the other songs that have reached number two behind it.

I actually quite like this. One of her best releases IMO
****
Underwhelming. Everytime I hear it I am reminded of Kisschasy's Dinosaur.
2.5.

Edit: Grown on me. Catchy but hardly revolutionary.

Sounds like it's trying to be anthemic and all 'Eye Of The Tiger', so it fails in that respect. Also does sound quite similar to Sara Barielles's 'Brave'.
Quite average for now, though could be a grower.
***
Wasn't this supposed to be a dark pop song? Anyway, I don't see much progress from her Teenage Dream era so it's a bit underwhelming, but pleasant enough. 3* for now
***
While at times it sounds like it should be an Avril song, mostly it comes across as an attempt to create another Firework. The failed inspirational lyrics are woeful and the song is pretty much completely devoid of anything interesting whatsoever.
****
Good.

Boring as heck!

EDIT: Growing on me.

Pretty lame #1
****
I think it is quite solid. Good pop track and by far her best lead single/#1. Not up to the level of Hot 'N Cold, Waking Up In Vegas, Firework or Wide Awake though.
***
I don't think it's that bad.
******
This song sounds huge! The chorus is anthemic and it is probably now my favorite Katy Perry track!

Think this is really memorable with a good music video. Her fourth UK#1. 282,978 copies sold while #1. UK#1 and Ireland#1. 1 million copies sold in the UK.

Her second million selling single in the UK.

I find this to be her weakest lead single, but this is still a good effort. The oh-oh-ohs can get just a little annoying. 3 weeks at #1 in Australia [edit: would have been] more than enough.

Nothing special, but it's ok.
***
Tolerable.
***
The song is very average overall. How it has racked up that many weeks at No.1 is questionable but it's Katy's weakest lead single so far.
**
Awful
*
Riktigt, riktigt dåligt.
******
SO GOOD! Definitely up there as one of her best.
*****
pretty powerful
****
Conventional catchy pop track, with a standard production and a surprisingly generic chorus, its overplaying annoys very much. She should make more innovative music to not repeat always the same formula.
**
Its tolerable, but nothing special.
*
this is so overplayed and unbearable, i just can't say i'm disappointed because i've never expected someone with so little talent like katy to grow artistically
*****
Up there as one of her, if not the best of her songs, and while I've heard it enough in this lifetime there's no denying its a great song with a great video to match.
*****
The first single released from Perry from her 2013 album Prism. Have to say when I heard it for the first time I thought it was a bit average and a let down. After a few weeks it grew on me. The song has been described as "kind of a 'pick yourself up and dust yourself off and keep going', female-empowerment song". For me it was the 51st best song of 2013.
****
For me this was probly my most underated track for 2013 even though it was everywhere and was #1 for ages.
Katy has bought substance with this track and her current era of pop music.
******
Another killer pop masterpiece from Max Martin and co, and Katy delivers another stella vocal. Definitely the highlight from the Prism album.
******
Brilliant comeback from Katy. So happy it has done so well (I'm really glad it was the 2013 EOY #1) and is high on the BOAT list. I love the video also. "Dark Horse" and a couple of others from "Prism" are better though. I hate that it is constantly compared to "Applause", both are great comebacks and though I like this more tbh their "competition" is annoying and pathetic really.
