After one horrendous (Judas) and two average singles (BTW and TEOG) I wasn't expecting anything great, however this album really has exceeded my initial expectations by far. Objectively it is 4* worth, but it will probably grow on me even more so I'll rate it with 5* in advance. The album has lots of highlights; Americano in particular is amazing and just the type of song that I wanted to hear from her, which makes it a highlight of her career. Heavy Metal Lover is a complete lush, Bloody Mary is an amazing dark disco/ballad and Scheiße sounds like an updated early 90's rave track in the best possible way. There are also few bad songs: Judas still remains awful, Hair is corny and forgettable and I'm not very keen on You & I, but overall this album is definitely worth a listen.
****
I was totally underwhelmed and disappointed at first, but it's already growing on me a bit. I found some songs dull at first, but they're seeming better with more listens, suggesting this album has life. One thing I don't like is that many of the songs come across as trying too hard. It's as though they're not allowed to simply be good or even great songs, and in a quest to make them amazing, everything has been added i and thrown at them, creating an odd mix of styles within one song. It works at times, but in many cases does not.

I'd call this a solid follow-up. In time I might like it more than The Fame, but for now I don't. The Edge Of Glory is the best on it, but I also really like You And I, Born This Way and Marry The Night.

ON FIRST LISTEN:

So I chucked it in the CD player in my car and played it through rush hour traffic today (the best place to truly listen to an album for me) and I have to say, I am pretty underwhelmed. At 17 tracks, I was surprised at the length of the album (in a positive way, heck I'm used to albums being 35 minutes and 10 songs in length give or take) so I thought it would be awesome. Marry The Night was alright, then Born This Way... and then the album begins to sag. I'm loving Judas now so it was nice to hear and I love the sentiment behind the lyrics to Hair but it's in the middle that GaGa seems to become monotonous, and, to be totally honest, boring. When I got to track 16 I breathed a sigh of relief, You And I is my favourite not-released track off the album a la Speechless from The Fame Monster. The two are similar in having a more ballad-ic flavour amidst an album full of stomping electric beats. The Edge of Glory closes the album off in a positive way.

At the end of it all, I'm left a little torn about this album. If it finds it's way to my cd player again I might re-write this review. But for now it's an even 3 stars. :)
****
Disappointing follow up to The Fame.

Standout tracks are easily Born This Way & The Edge Of Glory.

I was weighing between a 3 and a 4 but I'll give it a 3 for now. There's a lot going on here and at times it seems that she's trying too hard, which can be detrimental. Still, if there exists pop music that I can enjoy, I'm all for it. 3.5

Considering I loved both The Fame and The Fame Monster, I'm very underwhelmed by this album since it comes nowhere near the quality of those two even though this is still pretty solid. While there are some clear standouts, other tracks sound just plain weird and it's obvious she's trying hard to be different. The standouts are "The Edge of Glory", "Marry the Night", "Scheiße", "Fashion of His Love" and "Bloody Mary". 4.5

Quite a bad follow up to the amazing Fame Monster. The album tracks on this are pretty much boring. Marry The Night is probably the standout there. As for the singles though, they're not much better. Even with The Fame which had bad album tracks, it made up for it with the amazing singles. The Edge Of Glory and Judas are favourites, but even still they wouldn't be good enough for 5 stars.

There is not a single song on this album I dislike, though as mentioned gaga tried a bit too hard on a few of the songs, it didnt tarnish the quality all that much for me. Some pretty cool lyrics in here, though some disappoint with quite lame ones.
Gaga seems to be trying to come off as some kind of female mashup between michael jackson, david bowie, and madonna - which for the most part is working, she is breaking the boundaries of pop music with this album.
The highlights of this album would have to be "Born This Way", "Judas", "You And I", "Marry The Night", "Bloody Mary", "Electric Chapel", and "The Queen". Every song on here is listenable and enjoyable on its own.
I'm quite impressed with her follow up to the fame, and I hope to see her continue to do amazing things with her next album - which knowing her, can't be too far away. 6*

I can't deny that I have hated this woman in the past. I still despise most of her early releases in fact. Nonetheless, this album strikes a much better accord with me. While there are some crappy ones here and there, most of the album is okay. The single reason I'm giving this a 4 is because of 'The Edge Of Glory', which is definitely her best track to date and one of the finest top 5 hits of the year.

this album is far away from bad and amazing.

to me there are really brillant tracks as hair, americano, judas, the edge of glory, born this way and scheibe

and there are the worsts as marry the night and government hooker.

overall its well produced but not enough to be quite average.
****
It's a pretty good album, but it suffers from many songs being boring & repetitive by the end of their duration. Heavy Metal Lover, The Edge Of Glory & Born This Way were the obvious ones.

Highlights include Hair, Bloody Mary, Fashion Of His Love, Heavy Metal Lover and The Edge Of Glory.

I like how she has gone more electro, especially the beat in Born Thus Way & Bloody Mary, but thats about all the positives I can think from this album.

For Gaga to call this album "Album of the century" is a lie because it's good, but could of been a bit better. Just look at the weeks Born This Way has been in the top 50 compared to "The Fame" & "The Fame Monster" :/

Very disappointing album. While not bad it is average with many songs being average or only slightly enjoyable. Highlights would be The Edge Of Glory, Scheiße, You And I, Born This Way & Judas. Definitely nothing special considering how hyped up it was by Gaga before release.

Da ich Born This Way eigentlich noch nie richtig bewertet habe, da ich später zu hitparade.ch gekommen bin, mach ich das jetzt!
Born This Way ist ein unglaublich starkes Album!
Meine Queen hats einfach drauf! Punkt!

Highlights:
1. Born This Way weil das mein Absolut Fav Lied ist!
Alles andere kann ich nicht besser oder schlechter finden, da sich alle Songs auf einem sehr, sehr hohen Level befinden!!

6*!!!
