A good song but definitely dips down at parts though overall strong.

UK#3 and Ireland#2. US#28.

400,000 copies sold in the UK.

Perhaps I just like Quavo. All in all it's really a twisted blend of some "÷" offcut and a standard DJ Mustard production. Glad the result is nowhere near as offensive as that idea sounds, but it's nothing to write home about. 3.25

Nothing exciting about this one... So far the worst of the solo debut singles from the 1D boys.

The chorus is reminding me of 112's 'Dance With Me' which is a good thing. I like this.

This is hot and fun and I'm willing to overlook all its flaws because of that.

I think Liam is one of the most promising members of 1D, but he's also released the weakest solo debut of the bunch. This song could not be more faceless if it tried and the semi-misogynistic lyrics are best left in the mid-noughties. Hoping he can deliver something with a bit more personality.
**
Thing that irritates me: This song has that 'you know I used to be in 1D (now I'm free)' lyric, and when asked about it, Liam has an odd way of explaining it that reads like he's saying that he's not saying he's distancing himself from his boy band days or that he's above it, except that he totally is. In any case, it screams of saving face so you can get the publicity without the controversy (at least in any damaging way).

It makes for an allegory for the entire song, which feels more like a toe-dip than full commitment. After all, 'former One Direction member goes on to make club-sex jams' is not exactly new ground, and for better or for worse, ZAYN found a convincing way to pull off the required mood. This is just "Rack City" with some extra degrading lyrics. It's increasingly more unflattering with each listen.

Oh and Quavo's here because it's 2017, isn't it?
**
Since Sheeran dominates this song I can't help but think that Liam is singing Ed's fantasies that he himself couldn't pull off, but Liam is the pretty boy who makes it sound believable/desirable. Also we've seen a lot of new Timberlakes, but this is surely one of the cheapest attempts. And that 1D lyric is super cringe.
