Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" stays atop the Australian Charts for a fourth week, half as long as Canada (8 weeks), and not quite as long as the U.S. (6 weeks), but she has now climbed in to equal second place for the chart-toppers of the year who have also all stayed there for four weeks. Here is a list of the years No.1 singles so far...
5 weeks - Bleeding Love - Leona Lewis 5 weeks - Sweet About Me - Gabriella Cilmi 4 weeks - Don't Stop the Music - Rihanna 4 weeks - No Air - Jordin Sparks feat Chris Brown 4 weeks * I Kissed a Girl - Katy Perry 3 weeks - Low - Flo Rida 3 weeks - 4 Minutes - Madonna feat Justin Timberlake 2 weeks - Apologize - Timbaland feat OneRepublic 1 week - Bubbly - Colbie Caillat
So one more week and she ties for equal longest running No.1 single of the year, two more weeks and she'll have the longest runner. But several things could upset that feat, one being Metro Station who's single get released August 11th (next week), affecting the 18th of August chart (her sixth possible week), or Kid Rock's "All Summer Long" which is released on CD Single this week. More on Kid soon.
The Pussycat Dolls have claimed their second best chart effort this week, as "When I Grow Up" stays at No.2 for a third week, beating the 2 weeks stay of their previous two singles, "StickwitU" and "Buttons". Climbing to No.3 (No.2 download) is Metro Station's "Shake it", which will probably go higher. Miley Cyrus stays put at No.6, and Chris Brown has all of the 7's this week. He stays put at No.7, has spent 7 weeks in the charts, and the single for "Forever" still has it's peak of No.7.
Two of the new entries to the Top 10 this week are also two of the four big rising singles of the week. The equal second biggest riser is Kid Rock's "All Summer Long" which jumps 13 places to No.8, now giving him his highest placed single in Australia. The CD Single is out in stores this week, and that will help it rise again next week. Lady GaGa also scores her first Top 10 single as "Just Dance" climbs up 7 places to No.10.
The two other big climbers of the week are the 13 place jump for Rihanna's "Disturbia" (35 to 22), and the biggest climber of the week, thanks to it's CD Single release, Linkin Park's "Leave Out All the Rest" which climbs 15 places from No.39 to No.24 this week. It also helps pull their "Minutes to Midnight" up to No.28 this week, the biggest climber on the album charts this week.
With so many new entries last week, this week see's only two entries, one of those new, the other a re-entry. The re-entry is Miley Cyrus' "Start All Over" which comes back in at No.41, it's now highest peak. The new entry is at No.49, and is "When You Look Me in the Eyes" by The Jonas Brothers. The boys have had one other Top 50 hit, in the form of the No.47 single from late April, "SOS".
For the third week, the cast recording/Soundtrack for the film "Mamma Mia!" is at No.1 on the Australian Album Charts. It's now tied in fourth place for the longest running No.1 Soundtrack this decade, tied with "High School Musical", but the three above it are "Bridget Jones' Diary" (5 weeks), "Coyote Ugly" (6 weeks) and "Moulin Rouge" (11 weeks). It might stay for another week, although albums from Katy Perry and The Whitlams might make a different next week.
Soulfly have the highest new entry to the charts this week with their sixth album "Conquer". By debuted at No.19 it becomes the bands highest charting album in Australia, below is the list of their previous chart efforts...
Jason Mraz, MGMT and Flo Rida all hit new peaks this week, and due to it being released on DVD two weeks ago, "Step Up 2: The Streets" re-enters the charts at No.23.
Daron Malakian from System of a Down put together his side-project Scars on Broadway in late 2005, and this week their debut self-titled album makes it debut in the Top 50 at No.43.

Now that ARIA website has been updated, here are the Physical Singles that have made significant gains...
No.1 - I Kissed a Girl - Katy Perry 9 up from 17 - Start all Over - Miley Cyrus (No.41 on charts) New at No.18 - Shake it - Metro Station (maybe released early) New at No.25 - Leave Out All the Rest - Linkin Park
big droppers: 32 from 18 - Bye Bye - Mariah Carey 44 from 25 - Stay With me Bright Eyes - Something With Numbers
its quite upsetting see singles such as miley making top 10 in physicals and not even impacting the top 40, the shows how little physical sales is affecting the charts
Pretty dissapointing charts this week. To much movement in lower half & not enough in the top 20. I agree with the 'Low' sentiments... People stop buying this song, it's had it's time & will more than likely break into the Top 10 of all time on this site because of it! Last edited:
BeansterBarnes, I too agree with 'Low' now being in the top 25 for more than 25 weeks now. I'd even hate the song more if it overtakes the Prodigy's 'Breathe' as the #1 song of all time (and I really hope that this will not happen).
Bulion, if Moulin Rouge was the longest #1 soundtrack of this decade, then what were the longest #1 soundtracks on the previous decades? I'd sure would like to know! Thanks in advance, Bulion! Last edited:
Sony BMG made the Metro Station "Shake It" single (physical) available to retailers about a week ago although its official release is still next Sat 9 Aug. So I would expect it to chart on the physical chart next week, quite highly.
Hopefully next week there will be more movement and excitement in the singles top 50/radio charts.
to start of with i would like to see at least 4 or 5 songs in the no.s 50-40 drop out of the charts ( but not 3 doors down or kelly rowland!)
at no.39 ( my favourite chart debut number) i would like to see Iggy and Jet with "The wild one". ok song but hopfully this one will fly up the chart!
I'm looking forward to see how the last weeks few entries are doing. The Vines will hopefully debut with "He's A Rocker" I do not know why other songs of theirs has debuted in the chart when they have not been any good. I am still waited for that song to hit the top 40!
I Want to see how MGMT go with their track "Electric Feel" I cannot believe "Time to pretend" did not chart. It had huge radio success!
Anywho, the songs that i want to drop are the ones that have just been around for too long. I want to see more Alternative types of genres in the top 50 charts.
I think that The Living End, Potbelleez and Sneaky Sound System will drop.
lastly for the almighty no.1 spot, i believe Katy Perry still has a chance, but when Metro Station's physical sales kick in, i think she will have a bit of competition!
I cannot wait for the next chart. Anyway this week i will look forward to chatting with you guys on the forum, and Chri8tophers fun charts!
I Am sorry if i keep repeating this but I just keeping adding to my "New Entries Wish List"
- The Vines "He's A Rocker" - Jet and Iggy Pop "The Wild One" - The Grates "Burn Bridges" - Chasing Bailey "Little By Little" - Something With Numbers "Stay With Me Bright Eyes" - Michael Paynter "Closer"
Then later as we get into the top 10 of Australian Idol, I think that The TV promo song "Can You Feel It" might debut once they get later into the series. A couple of series they have released a group single.
did Michael Paynter "Closer" chart anywhere under top 50? i saw the physical release a weeks back and its was heavily promoted on tv and radio and should have the momentum of charting finally viva la vida video released, but i dont think itll impact too much on its chart position next week
I'm really excited that Coldplay released 2 music videos!
I really like the 2nd version, where Chris Martin is dressed lie a king and walks on the beach carrying the painting. It looks relaxing, great video!!!
Apart from Coldplay,
Leona Lewis is finally releasing a 3rd single, it is called "Forgive Me"!!!!, and i first heard it played on the Hot30 Countdown, with Tim and Bigsy.
I also heard "Radar" on the countdown, which is the 4th and possibly final single release from Britney Spears latest album "Blackout".
On the Coldplay releasing of video for 'Viva La Vida'. The record company & the band themselves haven't done themselves any favours by taking so long to release a video for the track. In saying that though, the video shouldn't have that much effect on it's forseable future because unfortunately for 'Viva La Vida' it's all downhill from here.
Jordin Sparks 3rd single "One Step at a Time" has recieved radio airplay and i can't wait until Vanessa Amorosi releases her 3rd single, does anyone know what it is?
Other upcoming new releases which are rumoured to be released in Australia and Worldwide:
Mariah Carey feat. T.I. - I'll Be Lovin' Ya Long Time Alicia Keys - Superwoman Estelle - No Substitute Love Akon & Kardinal Officer - Dangerous Flo Rida - In the Ayer
Just wanted to comment on the differences between single releases now and "back then". I've been reading a lot on the forum with interest, particularly releases.
When I was a kid, and I have to use my fave artist as an example, a new Madonna single was an event (it still is today!) and we all knew the exact date it was coming out. Molly would have the video on "Hey Hey It's Saturday", sometimes it was on the news (for controversy, no less, but she was still on Today Tonight recently for "4 Minutes" simply cause she was Madonna...but I digress), and then Monday, it was in the stores. Next week it was on Rage. End of story.
These days, we have the radio release, the digital release, the physical release and the video release (as in the case for Coldplay). It's all very complicated, but exciting at the same time, and generates a lot of excitement and anticipation for music.
Just wanted to say I was starting to get bored with "new" music, say 2002-2006...but now it has (again) become a Sunday thing for me.
Yes i agree with you, that the cd singles are released and the format itself has changed over the years, probably because of the internet boom, and technology is advanced.
But as you said i also like it how a single is first released on radio, then digitally, physically and a video afterwards, then it charts.
It's turned into this cycle for every new release.

There were three new entries inside the top 100 but outside the top 50 this week, they are...
#83 - Andrea Bocelli - Time To Say Goodbye --> Odd Debut. This will be thanks to an appearence on 60 Minutes [Channel 9]. Tv has been a powerhouse for music in 2008. Does deserve to chart higher, due to it's genre i am predicting it to exit the top 100 next week.
#95 - Slipknot - Psychosocial --> Yet another strange genre to add to this topsy turvy chart this week. Many people would cringe at their material and radio won't touch them with a 50 foot pole! I think it will also exit next week with Andrea.
#98 - Cast Of Mamma Mia The Movie - Mamma Mia --> Continues Abba domination! The orignal sored to #48 two weeks ago and has left this terrible remake to limp just inside the countdown. Soundtrack is firmly at #1 so this shall be gone next week.
I Quess that the Potbelleez will jump up to about No.15 because of the performance on Rove. Most songs rise after being performed on Rove. Lots of people see the song and recongnise it and might like it which boosts the sales. Not all songs rise after the Rove Performance ( Living End )
#1 Metro Station - Shake It #2 Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl #3 PCD - When I Grow Up #4 Sam Sparro - Black & Gold #5 Kid Rock - All Summer Long #6 Lady Gaga - Just Dance #7 Miley Cyrus - See You Again #8 Chris Brown - Forever #9 Jordan Sparks/Chris Brown - No Air #10 Coldplay - Viva La Vida #11 Living End - White Noise #12 Ne*Yo - Closer #13 Jason Mraz - I'm Yours #14 Rihanna - Take A Bow #15 Rihanna - Disturbia #16 Potbellez - Are You With Me #17 Sara Bareilles - Love Song #18 Sneaky Sound System - Kansas City #19 Linkin Park - Leave Out All The Rest #20 Gabriella Cilmi - Sweet About Me
Here's my prediction... #1 Metro Station - Shake It #2 Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl #3 Kid Rock - All Summer Long #4 Sam Sparro - Black & Gold #5 PCD - When I Grow Up #6 Lady Gaga - Just Dance #7 Chris Brown - Forever #8 Miley Cyrus - See You Again #9 Jordan Sparks/Chris Brown - No Air #10 Coldplay - Viva La Vida #11 Jason Mraz - I'm Yours #12 Living End - White Noise #13 Rihanna - Take A Bow #14 Ne*Yo - Closer #15 Rihanna - Disturbia #16 Potbellez - Are You With Me #17 Sara Bareilles - Love Song #18 Flo Rida & Timbaland - Elevator. #19 The Rest Sneaky Sound System - Kansas City #20 Gabriella Cilmi - Sweet About Me

Interesting to see Roxette's 1989 single back in there.
O Yeah... Metro Station back at #1 on the I-Tunes chart. This should easily make the top 2 this week if the physical single has started being released.
In relation to the ARIA Digital Download chart I think there have been errors when there are 2 verisons of the same song charting in some cases. Every unusual digital download entry has got a title with a current charting song. I'll give you some examples I have seen over the last month.
All of the following tracks have charted in the Digital Track Chart:
Ben Harper - Forever -> Chris Brown - Forever Muse - Take a Bow -> Rihanna - Take a Bow Count Basic - See You Again -> Miley Cyrus - See You Again Future Troubles - Shake It -> Metro Station - Shake It Roxette - Dangerous -> Kardinal Offishall - Dangerous
Are these coincedences or are ARIA getting some of the digital track listings wrong?
I think it maybe the actual buying public downloading these simalar titled tracks out of pure curosity. Take Katy Perry's track, when i first heard the name i immeadiatly assumed it would've been a cover of Jill Sobul's from '95. I would think A.R.I.A could not make such notable errors of this magnitude. but weirder things have happened.
1. I Kissed A Girl - KP 2. Shake It - MS 3. When I Grow Up - PCD 4. Black & Gold - SS 5. See You Again - MC 6. All Summer Long - KR 7. No Air - JS/CB 8. Forever - CB 9. Just Dance - LG 10. Closer - N-Y

I don't think Metro Station will have enough power to be the #1 single this week. Although I do hope I am wrong, 4 weeks is more than enough for Katy Perry's single at the top.
For some crazy reason, the Kid Rock version of all summer long at #5 on itunes has been deleted!! And another version enters the chart at #115! Who made that silly decision? I have no doubt itll be back inside the top 10 in no time but seems crazy considering it was itunes top 5 and was a big contender for the top 5 this weekend!
As for other news, great for September! i thought it could flop but looks like it could go top 20 or even top 10 at this rate.
Poor PCD stuck at #2, i think that'll be its peak now, Metro Station for the next #1? Even though its #1 on itunes now, i think its gonna need go top 2 on physical to stand a chance really. I reckon Katy still has a good 1/2 weeks left in her.
^The Kid Rock version (currently at #6) hasn't been deleted, it's still showing on my itunes. Brandon - Disturbia has finally entered the itunes top 10, at #10, yay!! Great to see Lady Gaga go Top 5 as well, i love it. Last edited:

Katy Perry is No.1 again in America!!!! Oh my gosh.
Congratulations - Now 7 WEEKS!! at No.1 in United States, Week beginning Friday 8th August.
The song of the summer in America.
Flo Rida's Low spent a massive 10 weeks at No.1!!! Katy Perry could equal or break that record, but she has competition, because Rihanna has peaked at No.3 with Disturbia in U.S.
Coldplay is at No.5 and Pussycat Dolls have returned the Top 10 peaking at the same peak No.9!!
In regards to Kid Rock deletion. It seems like it happened in several countries, Kid Rock disappeared and was unable to be sold. Looks like the problem has be solved now.
By the way, what day is So you think you can dance on? Apparently PCD are appearing on the US version so its likely gonna climb on itunes
well Brandon, I Have no idea. But people are all saying that The Potbelleez " Are You with me" sales will rise because of the Olympics. Maybe they will be preforming and also Amy Pearson with "Ready to fly" which was supposed to be The Olympic song. But all up I am not to sure
The American version of"So You Think You Can Dance" show will feature a performance by the Pussycat Dolls.
Simon, in Perth the show was on Wednesday, Thursday and tonight, and i didn't watch it on Wed and Thurs, so i missed out.
Maybe the Pussycat Dolls are performing tonight on SYTYCD, and that should help boost the sales of the single in "When I Grow Up", keeping it in the Aust.Top 5 for a long time...
Coldplay have been nominated in a new category at the American MTV VMA's it's "Best UK Video", Violet Hill is up against videos from Estelle, Leona Lewis, Duffy, and Ting Tangs. Good Luck!!
Gym Class Heroes will release their new album in September Kaiser Chiefs have a new album coming in October! The Killers will release a new album out in November!!
Two time VMA Nominee Britney Spears will apparently appear in a TV Promo, for the MTV VMA's, and might attend the show physically and is nominated for 2 awards. Let the 2nd comeback attempt begin.. please!
The time has come for me to predict the Top 20 singles for next week, Week beginning on Monday 11th Aug, 2008.
My aim is to break my shared record of 8 and get 9 or better.
I think that Lady Gaga and Kid Rock will remain in the Top 10, where they belong.
The Potbelleez will re-enter the Top 20 thankfully. Rihanna's "Take a Bow" could leave the Top 10
Katy Perry will be No.1 again i hope!!, because Metro Station hasn't been fully released physically yet. I'm nervous!!
Here is my Top 20:
1.Katy Perry - I Kissed a Girl 2.Metro Station - Shake It 3.Pussycat Dolls - When I Grwo Up 4.Sam Sparro - Black and Gold 5.Kid Rock - All Summer Long 6.Miley Cyprus - See You Again 7.Lady Gaga - Just Dance 8.Jordin Sparks & Chris Brown - No Air 9.Chris Brown - Forever 10.Coldplay - Viva La Vida 11.Jason Mraz - I'm Yours 12.Rihanna - Disturbia 13.Rihanna - Take a Bow 14.Neyo - Closer 15.The Potbelleez - Are You With Me 16.The Living End - White Noise 17.September - Cry For You 18.Sneaky Sound System - Kansas City 19.Sara Barrellies - Lovesong 20.Estelle & Kanye West - American Boy

Viva la Vida 15. Are You With Me 16. Kanses City 17. Elevator 18. Disturbia 19. American Boy 20. Cry For You
Hi All, Ready for another chart. I would probably say that The Potbelleez should be the biggest climber due to performing on Rove last weekend. Jason Mraz has no physical release (which is becoming less significant each week) and Kid Rock was already at #8 last week, but has now been released physically. Look forward to see other peoples comments.
1 (49.7) - I Kissed a Girl - Katy Perry 2 (49.2) - Shake it - Metro Station 3 (47.6) - When I Grow Up - Pussycat Dolls 4 (46.7) - Black & Gold - Sam Sparro 5 (46.3) - All Summer Long - Kid Rock 6 (43.8) - No Air - Jordin Sparks & Chris Brown 7 (43.4) - See You Again - Miley Cyrus 8 (43.3) - Just Dance - Lady Gaga 9 (43.0) - Forever - Chris Brown 10 (39.3) - I'm Yours - Jason Mraz 11 (39.2) - Closer Ne-Yo 12 (38.9) - Viva la Vida - Coldplay 13 (38.8) - Take a Bow - Rihanna 14 (37.9) - White Noise - Living End 15 (35.7) - Are You With me - The Potbelleez 16 (34.6) - Disturbia - Rihanna 17 (34.1) - Kansas City - Sneaky Sound System 18 (34.0) - Love Song - Sara Barielles 19 (32.7) - Cry for You - September 20 (31.5) - Sweet About Me - Gabriella Cilmi 21 (31.4) - Elevator - Flo Rida 22 (31.3) - American Boy - Estelle feat Kanye West
11 of these are in there correct positions for this week...
Yeah I'm here. Not a great deal of movement in the bottom of the chart so far. I think we should see September - Cry for You debut in the twenties. Last edited:
Katy should still be #1, she has the full physical sales behind but that may change next week. One of those surprise tracks I saw in the iTunes chart is Kings of Leon - Crawl, I wonder if Sony BMG included it on the chart as it is not really the official first single.
Are The Veronicas gonna debut with "Take Me on the Floor" I guess they are the other new entry with September.
Oops I miscalculated as Miley Cyrus has debuted already there is no room for the Veronicas, I guess Warner are holding off releasing "Take Me On the Floor" Last edited:
Surely people are over Low? I liked the song when it first came out but I can't stand it anymore. What is the fascination with the single... it's dated now.
If Don't Hold Back can re-enter the top 50 and they didn't play it on Rove then that should be an indication that Are You With Me should rise significatly too.
27 not moving from 27 - Dream Catch Me - Newton Faulkner
Tour edition of the No.22 album of the week "Hand Built By Robots" is out in stores this week. He's playing one date each in WA, SA, Vic, NSW & QLD during September.
The Veronica's should chart well. They are getting significant airplay. Plus their singles fits in with the current theme of same gender kissing. It is a pretty catchy song.
Once the four week popularity of Step Up 2: The Streets has died down from DVD, "Low" should drop faster than the few steps it's being doing the last coupla weeks. Last edited:
Lovesong hasn't got on my nerves yet but I like how it shot up the charts, stayed in the top 10 for a few weeks and is now declining. I wish most singles would do this.
No song should be skipped in my opinion. They are the 40 biggest songs for a reason. He should not have played Pink, that'll be in the top 40 in a few weeks.
Play new music first but not in the top 40 time slot.
Jabba is a toss. Bulion please forward these messages to him.
Fancy skipping th biggest riser and skipping an Aussie. What a dickhead.
The reason why Jabba skips the song, is because of the time. According to their program log, they have to take out some songs to make up for lost time.
I forget to tell you all that The Veronica's new single "Take Me On the Floor" debuted at No.22 on the ARIA downloads chart this week, but I think Warner will put it in the charts over the next few weeks.
Usher spent three non-consecutive weeks at No.11 after spending two weeks at No.8 back in June. Now Ne-Yo knocks on the door for a third week, having already peaked at No.10. Poor guy
Only Colin predicted this position.
One of the two big Top 10 climbers up next... (clue, it sounds like Jack Johnson but it ain't)
Jack is right!!!! Jabba should be skipping songs that are NOT in the top 40 because this is what the show is! NOT Jabba's favourite fucking hits. If they had to skip a song, skip 'Low' or 'Sweet About Me'. Not the biggest riser of the week! Told ya Jabba is a tosser!
Well the producer's should be shot then!!! Brandon, I bet if The Veronicas or a favourite artist of yours was skipped you'd be pissed too! How much is Jabba paying you to defend 'there' choices? Last edited:
Lady GaGa must be lagging a bit in physical sales cos she has been around 4, 5 and 6 for most of the week on iTunes. Good to see physical sales still having an impact even though it is not a great impact.
Stupid move for cutting out The Potbelleez and Ne-Yo. I told them bout this site and that a few of us are not happy bout how they cut out songs.
If they needed to skip songs, the older songs like Low or Take A Bow should of been skipped and this was pointed out to them. Hopefully this will be the case in the future if they so need to play the most requested songs like Pink.
Sorry, if Pink's "So What" is being played because it's the most requested song then they should play it at 2:55 before the top 40 show starts and then again at 6:00 when the show finishes.
I agree, the top 40 show should be purely for the top 40 biggest songs. I was not happy with todays show, especially when they cut out The Potbelleez.
I do my own charts weekly but I only use the songs that are in the Top 50. Songs can differ in position by only 10 places to the official A.R.I.A position of the week.
There is another site where people from around the world publish their personal charts and then a global chart is made up based on everyones top 50s!!!
Hey team, chart show producer here. Apologies for dropping two songs. Its not something that we normally do, in fact its something we try and avoid doing at all costs. Unfortunatley today we had a few extra commitments to get out by certain timea and from 5.00pm AEST timing is crucial. Just want you to know we understand how important each song is...its all good, we love The Potbelleez and Neyo here at nova. We'll give em love. cheers
Katy holds on for a 5th week. I used to do my own chart but stopped a few years ago as I didn't have the time. My own chart used to have a lot of club/dance tracks.
More Aussies would be great, especially as most people are from USA or Canada and most Aussie artists don't chart well on the global chart as by the time the yanks chart them us Aussies have charted them.
Thanks Stefan, for posting that message and thanks for listening to my rant earlier.
Btw, I had logged off the site when I was on the phone to u so am glad u took the time 2 track it down.
Hopefully you guys don't skip too many songs in the near future and can give The Potbelleez a few extra spins this week. Afterall, they are Aussie and deserve it!
Brandon, I don't think it's the same as the United World Chart. I believe the United World Chart is based on official charts from various countries.
The Admin from the site of the links I sent you adds up everyones personal charts by giving the #1 song 50 points, #2 49 points down to the #50 song 1 point and then ranks them accordingly.
As you can see in the Global chart there are a few Aussies in the top 50. The Veronicas (x2), Delta, Kylie, Gabriella and Sam Sparro. Mainly all the internationaly recognised Aussie artists.
Brandon, you have to be a member to post messages, yes. It's free to join all you need is a valid e-mail address. You don't get junk in your inbox either. I've been a member since 2004 and had no problems. It's actually a very friendly community. The only downfall is that most members are American or Canadian and only favour music from those countries and don't pay attention 2 much music from around the world, especially Aussie talent.
The new Global chart comes out every Sunday evening (New York/Toronto time) so Monday morning Sydney time.
Jack, good on you for ringing Nova up and complaining. I was listening to the countdown on my way back from the snow and was VERY annoyed at the fact 2 songs were skipped. Especially 2 boppy and 2 not so old tracks. One was even the weeks highest climber.
What made this even more frustrating is that they played 3 songs that arn't even in the countdown. 2 which are new songs that I agree will probably be charting in a few weeks and one rather boring and older song.
Nova ought to play both The Potbelleez and Ne-Yo extra times this week becuase by skipping these songs they are fair from premoting them. I am The Potbelleez biggest fan and was very annoyed when this song was skipped.
Nova Stefan, I'm impressed you took the time to leave a message and I hope you consider all the points raised above. The top 40 show should only consist of the top 40 songs. Cut out all the nonsense and cut out half of Jabba's stupidity and you might find that your show will finish on time. Otherwise ask whoever is in charge for an extra 15 mins of airing time? We tune in to listen to the top 40 songs. Not the new stuff. The new stuff like someone mentioned above should be played just before the top 40 show starts and again when the show finishes if the song is that popular you feel the need to play and premote it.
Anyway, there's my 2 cents. Glad I'm not the only one who shares these thoughts.
I haven't been able to listen to the show yet...but am getting a pretty clear picture of it...heh heh.
The old Take 40 I remember (I always seem to be talking about the old days, and I do apologize!!!) with Barry, played a selection of new releases in one hit during the show...but just a portion of each song. I think it's good to play new releases for people who don't get that info from this site, but not whole songs, and certainly not at the expense of songs IN the Top 40.
I get to tune in to my first show next week (finally get a Sunday off!!!) and see what this Jabba is all about!
However, I should also mention that until today I was always under the impression Jabba decieded what songs were skipped mainly becuase when Leona Lewis' song Better In Time was charting he skipped it regularly because he admitted to hating it. Jabba doesn't deciede and I should apologise for blaming and calling him certain names on here as it's really not fair to him.
Secondly, I should thank Stefan from Nova who I spoke to earlier who was easy to talk to and voice my opinion too. As I said above I was rather impressed with how he tracked this site down to post a message on here for all of us top 40 fans. I believe he will take on board our criticisms to make the top 40 show more enjoyable.
Also while I'm thanking people, thanks to Gav (Bulion) for your work this arvo. I know a few of us were giving the Nova guys a hard time and it probably wasn't all that fair on you as you do somewhat work/associate with them. Also thanks for all your chart stats and posts this arvo, you made it more worthwhile.
See you all next week and we'll see if Stefan's prediction is right?
