Kinda surprised to see "Human" as high as #5...though I do admit I've heard it more lately.
Also, has "Poker Face" reached #1 yet on Aus radio?
Mind you, there's nothing remotely amazing about seeing which tracks are #1 & #2...
I find it hilarious just how out of touch these charts are. Radio needs to pick up its game.
No, Poker Face has not yet reached #1 on Aus Radio thankfully. Human was at #12 last week so Aus Radio is really starting to support it which is a good thing because it is not a bad song.
Im surprised that with "Popular" by "Veronicas" reaching top 20 it hasnt even charted yet. It's their best single from "Hook Me Up" and it hasnt even charted. I must say im pretty shocked.
"Popular" flopped. It was released digitally ages ago, but no one knew about it. So it flopped.
This is when I usually post the Top 10 Radio Hits of the week but the website is not updated yet. Maybe tommorow or next week.
Australian Top 100 Radio Airplay Update: Mon 5th Jan, 2009

Here is this week's Top 10:

9.The Killers - Human (Former #5 peak)
10.Natalie Bass - Alive (Former #6 peak)

Top 5 Most Added Hits:

1.Sam Sparro - Pocket (confirmed as 3rd single)
2.Wiley & Daniel Merriweather - Cash In My Pocket
3.Pink - Funhouse (Possibly a radio airplay single??)
4.Natalie Bass - Someday Soon (confirmed as 2nd single)
5.Empire of the Sun - We Are The People
Popular by Veronicas has peaked at #12 this week, im still pissed it hasnt reached top 100 singles chart, because they deleted the wikipedia page i made becaue it hasnt charted on any singles chart . Someone buy 2000 copies. lol
i think radio stations across Australia need to do more consumer research, and stop playing music just because it's from an Australian artist.

Sales speak for themselves. Popular, Reach Out and All I See are all in the top 20 yet none of them are in the top songs on iTunes.
Yet Reach Out charted at #51 on the Singles Chart
that was how long ago, when it had an itunes front page.
I think radio stations should stop playing what it seems like they are being paid to play. Check the discrepancies between the ARIA and and the AMR Top 10s:

The Killers - Human (28-ish?)
Chris Brown - Superhuman (32-ish?)
Fall Out Boy - I Don't Care (20?)
Nickelback - Gotta Be Somebody (13?)
Christina Aguliera (sp?) - Keeps Gettin' Better (24?)
Kevin Rudolf - Let It Rock (13?)
Natalie Bassingwaighte (sp?) - Alive (11 vs. 6?)

And more in the Top 20:

Rhianna - Rehab
Kylie - The One
Kylie - All I See
Biffy Clyro - Mountains
AC/DC - Anything Goes
The Veronicas - Popular
etc. etc.

What is wrong with radio? Seriously? No wonder it is a dying medium.
It is good to see that people are not buying the biggest radio hits because if they were the charts would be boring.

B105 was the station by the way.
Hello Lifter!!

According to wikipedia... "I'd Come for You", is the official
3rd single, but i thought that "If today was your last day", would be the 2nd single.

I'm confused, does anyone know the official 2nd and 3rd single releases off the "Dark Horse" album?
Hi Brandon.
If today was your last day was originally the 1st single but was scrapped at the last minute for Gotta Be Somebody. (Thank God). The 2nd Single was Something In Your Mouth and was released on US Radio. The offical 3rd single is I'd Come For You.

BRITNEY SPEARS
If U Seek Amy
(SME)
Impact Date: February 9

The incomparable and unstoppable Britney Spears has been dazzling us with hit after hit since her debut in 1999 and the hits just don’t stop as she launches the third single from her defiant return, Circus. If U Seek Amy is a catchy synth-driven pop song with an infectious chorus and driving beat that will get listeners grooving.

If U Seek Amy follows up the success of her previous two singles Womanizer and Circus, which both cracked the Top 10 ARIA Singles chart with Womanizer reaching #1 on the CHR/Pop chart.

If U Seek Amy is a reminder of why Britney is one of the world’s leading pop artists and will belong right at home on CHR. So no need to look very far, because If U Seek Amy will be found burning up the radio in style. Premier Pick once again for the beloved Ms. Spears

P.S. Thanks for that Markha.
Why's Eric Hutchinson's "Rock & Roll" an 'outrage' LIFTER500?
Because it sounds so boring, dull and lifeless. I don't why radio would play a song like that. That my opinion of course.
OOPS, Forgot that I wasn't logged in when I wrote the message. Mind the error in the 2nd sentence. It should say don't GET why.

Interesting...I'd have thought it was the antidote to boring, dull & lifeless. It's a simple tune - musically it doesn't 're-invent the wheel' as they say. But it's surely too positive & bouncy to be considered dull or lifeless. It's a feel-good track that puts you in a good mood WITHOUT sounding generic (doesn't sound the same as every other track on the radio, so it at least stands out a bit). If anything, it actually sounds a tad old-school to me...

At 7:45am on Nova 106.9 (QLD) The Killers - Losing Touch.
Very interested Lifter. I was personally hoping A Dustland Fairytale would be next, but Losing Touch is a good choice.
I think 'Rock & Roll' is a great track. Classic guitar pop that could have been written and sung anywhere from the 60s to today. It will be a big radio hit.
I Knew you would like that Bluezombie since you are a big fan of them.

the reason behind the pulling something in your mouth as the 2nd single by the was because of the titled as it was thought, that with the the lyrics " i only like you when u have something in your mouth" the labels come up with may stupid reasons too pull songs and not ever song played on radio is official as they play album tracks so u will listen and the official next single for lady gaga was thought to be beautiful, dirty, rich, but it will be lovegame and should do well with her tour starting soon.

i am the gentleman who puts together the AMR weekly 100 and is hard to get around alot of bs, to put together an acurately look at what radio stations play and had the music network on my case about how i get my info, now did anyone know that network ten's video hits will not ever play the clip too lady Gaga's LoveGame claiming the clip is too raunchy for tv viewing.
No I did not know that but it does not surprise me. Rage have played it though, but it was at 5:30AM. Video Hits oviously don't want kids to view it during the day or they will get complaints.

Theres 1 thing I don't get. Ciara's Love Sex Magic gets a lot of airplay yet it is Inappropriate for really young people. You would not wan't kids asking about sex when they are 8-10 years old. What a crazy world we live in.
some new songs I've come across this week on radio:

Falling Down: Space Cowboys
Two Kinds Of Right: The Grates
World We Live In: The Killers
On Your Records: Slow Down Honey
Lest We Forget: Cam Tapp
Here Comes Goodbye: Rascal Flatts
Lifter i think ciara's is better than britneys if u seek amy though

in america i hear the song was censored because kids were
saying it not realising what they were saying
True. It may stupid to ask this now but why is If U Seek Amy so controversal. Is it the Music Video and I searched the web for the lyrics but cannot figire out why it is so controversal. Can someone shed some light on this.
If U Seek Amy can kind of sound like F. U. C. K. Me, when she sings it. So she's really saying 'All of the boys and all of the girls are waiting to F U C K Me.' Hence the controversy, and censoring in America to make it If U See Amy.
Thanks Bluezombie no wonder I could not figure it out.

If anyone is interseted I heard this song on the radio today.

At 7:35AM ON B105 (QLD)
Nickelback - If Today Was Your Last Day (Possible 3rd Single )
watch out for the letter by hoobastank feat vanessa amorosi
sorry lifter. no one's interested.
Oviously not Britney Fan.

EDIT: Fuck You Getluv.
Last edited:
I am interested getluv.

I love nickelback and i was wonder what their next single would be. If today was your last day is the current single in USA.
If Today Was Your Last Day by Nickelback is the official 3rd single in Australia, nova 100 is giving it a lot of airplay.

here are some singles to watch out for:
The Letter - Hoobastank feat Vanessa Amorosi
Standing on the Shore - Empire Of The Sun
Glass Of Water - Coldplay
Chase that feeling - Hilltop Hoods
Raindrops - Basement Jaxx
Sticks N' Stones - Jamie T
How You Love Me - Hey Monday
Let It Rain - Tyken feat ADL
ABCs - K'Naan
Young Man - Andy Bull
Suitcase - Shea Fisher
Looks like ITWYLD IS the 3rd Single off Dark Horse.
So it looks like Coldplay are releasing Glass Of Water as the 2nd Single off The Prospects March EP. The 6th Single if you include The Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends Special Edition Album. Did not expect them to release anything else after Life In Technicolor II and to be honest LIT2 is the only good track on the EP.

I wish Wes Carr would fall from the #1 spot.
Here are some songs to listen out for:

Fearless - Wes Carr
Can You Hear Me - Evermore
Too Fake - Hockey
Paranoid - Jonas Brothers
Lisztomania - Phoenix
Bonkers - Dizzee Rascal & Armand Van Helden
18 Days - Saving Abel
All I Want - Sarah Blasko
Wish We Were Older - Metro Station
Scared Of Me - Fedde Le Grand feat Mitch Crown
Devilicious - Nikki Webster

song that I am loving on Nova 100
K.I.A (Killed In Action) by Jet
I love the fact that NOVA 100 (Melbourne) has refused to play "Love Story" by "Taylor Swift". It is a really crap song IMO, and they think she's a sell out for letting them popalise it for radio.
I agree Billbeast.
If my eyes are not decieving me Evermore have a another single out. Yet to hear it. I heard Wes Carr's new one on Sunday but had no idea what it was called. Be warned everyone Nikki Webster and The Jonas Brothers have new tracks on the airwaves.
Im confused....

Yay for Bad Influence. This is Pinks forth consecitive #1 on radio.
Is very rare that any artist or band gets four or even three #1's in a row from one album and is good for Pink with her Australian tour due to kick off soon.

Thanks for that Markha. Saves me a job. LOL.
BOOBS YAY!
If anyone is interested I heard this on the radio today.

At 7:50AM On Nova 106.9 (QLD) Greenday - 21 Guns.
This track shows some of Greendays softer side.
Yes, i saw Green Day perform on The Letterman Show recently, love the new single "21 Guns", destined to be
a chart hit!!

Another new song which i love is "New In Town", by
Little Boots, saw the video on Rage, yesterday!! love it!
I dont know why manhattan is #2. Its like #50 on itunes and has already peaked on the aria charts at #42.
Hello Aussie Dude!!

Yes, i'm confused.

I also don't know why "Manhattan" is at No.2, maybe it's because of the album sales??
Manhattan is #2 simply because they are one of the biggest bands around. It's all focused towards the artists not the quality of music.
Hi Brandon.

I think it might fall next week due to low sales but we'll see.

Yer i agree Lifter, a lot of bad songs make it to the top just because of who they are. I think Bad Influence might go back to #1 or #2 while Manhattan will hopefully fall out of the top 5.
what i find funny is in the states manhattan was not release as a single as they release instead notion.

I'm impressed with the Top 10 Radio airplay,
happy to see David Guetta remaining at it's No.10 peak, again!

4 weeks for "Bad Influence", that's excellent, the track is also included in a tv ad.

The creepiness continues, as they had the same drop (20-29) again.

Pink has been in the top 20 airplay for over 11 months now.
pink could release a track of herself farting a song and australian radio would play it
pink sucks............like ben said, she could fart a song and get #1 radio play

Even john lennon himself once said it, "We could make the worst song in the world and still get #1 because we are the beatles"
Radio is crap anyway... they play what they want to hear!
btw Pink is a good artist you are all ove rher because she has been shoved in your faces...
Hijinx despite Pink only getting one #1 song of the album are you forgetting that song has sold over 210.000+ copies with the other 4 YES FOUR selling over 300.000+ copies. that's not to mention her four albums have all continued to sell in the bucketloads and to top it off FUNHOUSE HAS SPENT 47 ACCUMULATIVE WEEKS IN THE TOP 10. oh and i'm not dead was #2 selling album in 06/07 funhouse WAS #2 FOR 08 AND WILL BE #1 FOR 2009.
Last edited:
She's '''''only'''' one #1 because her album has sold bucketloads. Do you seriously expect a single to go to #1 when the parent album has sold more than HALF a million units, when Australia's population is 21 million. That's impossible of course (Yep Delta Goodrem did it but it was clearly an exception). That's still very impressive that Funhouse (song) is still charting in the Top 10 considering that the album has just crossed the 650 k mark.

Not only Funhouse is one of the biggest selling album of the decade but its singles have sold very well. And I agree with Nate, it could very well be the #1 album of the year and strangely, it has never managed to spend a week at #1 in 2009.

You can hate her Hijinx, but don't make such stupid statements. Sorry to be picky Nateboi but the album has spent 43 weeks in the Top 10 so far, not 47.

I apologise for any strife I caused before. I don't want to offend anyone now and in the future. I have no problem with the radio airplay she gets and do agree that given the album sales, the single sales are extremely high. I don't know why I stated that previous comment and have now deleted it. Again, I'm sorry if I caused any offence.
I've always felt that radio airplay was out of sync with the record buying public and watching this thread over the past couple of months has confirmed my thoughts. It's almost like people who listen to the radio are totally different to those who buy music.

Radio rarely plays the music that is deemed popular by sales. It's pretty sad that the #1 song in Australia can't crack the Top 10 most played tunes on radio. This scenario makes me glad that airplay plays no factor whatsoever on our charts.

The high placing of Kings Of Leon defies logic, sure you can use the excuse that their album has sold by the truckloads so no one wants the song but has radio thought that perhaps people don't need to hear the song that truckloads of people have already?

I guess this is why I never really thought radio was a career path I could follow. I would want to play music that was charting well but went against what radio dictated as what people wanted to hear.

I have a bigger complaint about Billboard still weighting radio airplay so heavily with their charts in this day and age of digital download. But that's for a different thread.

It is nice to see some major disscussions in this Thread for a change. What is there to say, Australian Radio loves Pink and play her Tracks to death, I remember when I liked U+Ur Hand but when Radio played it to death it became so boring that even 3 Years later I still find it boring. At least when they played So What to death I eventually found it interesting again after advoiding it for 6 Months.

I think its fantastic that Pink has achieved the success she has achieved in Australia with this album especially on radio. 5 consecutive #1 songs on radio is very impressive. I know only one of the songs have gone #1 in the country but 4 out of 5 have gone top 6 with the other peaking at #11. Plus they have all sold well. So what is 3xP for sales of 210k, Sobers 2xP with sales of 140k, PDLM is gold and is probably close to 60k, Bad Influence is about 64k and Funhouse is at about 40k. Thats over 500,000 singles.

Her current single "Funhouse" peaked at #6 and went to #1 on radio but more people have the song "Funhouse" than say "I gotta feeling" or "Love Storey" in australia. Im not saying those songs are undeserving cuz there both amazing songs its just that at least her songs are not going #1 on radio coming from a album that only a handful of people own.
That's funny AussieDude, last I checked Taylor Swift had sold 140,000 copies of her album in this country, BEP's latest effort is at 70,000 copies in 11 weeks and will surely go on to sell many more with their upcoming tour. Hardly a 'handful' as you say.

I think you misinterpreted what i said. I ment that at least pinks songs are going #1 on radio from an album that has sold heaps rather than that of an album that has sold very little. I wasnt refering to taylor or the BEP's album, just any album in general that has only sold say not even enough for gold. I only mentions Love Story and I Gotta Feeling, not to say that there parent albums have sold a handful because they have done amzingly well on the charts, but all i said was more ppl in australia have funhouse (the song) than Love Story.

I hope i cleared that up

Thought I might post some thoughts here, rather than it just being a constant stream of lists, and to let Lifter know that I am reading the thread weekly and appreciate him posting it!

I wonder who is playing some of this stuff. I have not yet heard Powderfinger, Foo Fighters or Vanessa Amorosi on radio, and have only heard Rob, Pearl Jam and Robbie once.

Horrible to see Sexy Bitch on top. I would have rathered Guy stay there. BEP will probably hit shortly with Meet Me Halfway, and that might nearly be the best choice of the three.
Interesting... I listen to a lot of radio, and I rarely hear Someday, All of the Dreamers, Wheels, Before the worst, 21 Guns & Release Me - and I do listen to a lot of countdowns... ??
Hi, I would like to know how high P!nk's previous singles (from Can't Take Me Home, M!ssundaztood, Try This & I'm Not Dead) peaked on the Aus Airplay charts - would anyone have these stats???
392414, I found an old archive of the website for May 2007. From there I found that Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely) was number 3 and possibly rising, and Nobody Knows made number 16. I think you can see it here
http://web.archive.org/web/20070512190737/www.aumreport.com/amr100.html
I hope that helped a bit.
Thanks, Hijinx!
Thanks for all the comments everyone.

Where did you that Link from Hijinx, I listened to a lot of Radio in 2007, much more then I do these days and I Can't believe how well Evermore did with Unbreakable, I would have thought it might of Peaked in the Teens but #2 WOW. No surprise to see Pink doing well. Another thing I noticed is in that Week 4 Australians were in The Top 5.

I found it from www.alexa.com, which is a website which ranks other websites on traffic. There is a link to the Wayback Machine which you can use for any website to see random select moments in its history, the one above was the only pre-2008 link there.
You can use for this site and relive the classic red-blue colour scheme

Speaking of Australian artists, according to the Chart News page, Eskimo Joe did quite well as well, making number 2, 3, and 11 with Black Finghernails, Sarah, and New York respectively.

392414, more P!nk chartifacts from Jan 2008
Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely) ended up at number 1 for 8 weeks.

Yay!! Down at 23!!
And how many weeks has Sexy bitch been atop the radio charts??
2 Weeks. Edited it in now.
Really!! Interesting - it only hit 1 just recently when it first hit 1 on ARIA almost 10 weeks ago!
What's with Rob Thomas - Someday...? it has had it's chance to prove whether it can be a hit... and it flopped... so get it off the airwaves!
Where is the mixture? radio should also be rotating fresh material with a diverse range of genres...
I TOTALLY agree... 8 Weeks in the Top 20, 9 Weeks in the Top 100, Peaked at number 5...
Sexy Bitch was behind Guy Sebastion who was #1 for 5 Weeks.

If Radio was like the Charts then the Charts would be boring, I think it is good that radio plays stuff that does not appear in The Charts.

BTW Someday fell 5 Places anyway so
Radio Stations must be reducing it's Airplay.

Hmmm... Bep at #1. Very different to what I hear on the radio, with powderfinger and foo fighters so high, jet still high, 3 so low, bodies & bulletproof so low...

AND SOMEDAY AT #10!!!
Does anyone have airplay stats (peak, wks in etc.) for:
- Poker Face, Just Dance, Eh Eh, LoveGame, Paparazzi
I finally heard Powderfinger on the radio for the first time this morning, and it's at #4? I can see Vanessa shooting to number one on the airplay chart very soon. I've been hearing her quite a bit.
392414, from this thread
Just Dance - At least #5, probably higher
Poker Face - #2
Eh Eh - #11-#14, somewhere in that range
LoveGame - #7
Paparazzi - #3 (Currently #86 Week 20)

I'm not sure about the number of weeks but I'm sure that the first two would be around 30-40 weeks.
From now on I'll record every week of the chart in order to keep this information.

Wth? Why have the songs that've left dropped so much? :S
It's not that much of a drop from only 84 to outside the top 100. The second figures are weeks in top 100, and the last figure is the peak.

As per usual this chart seems to be way off what I've been hearing. I'm yet to hear new GaGa or Rihanna on radio, and still haven't heard Powderfinger played yet. No surprise to see Pink bullet so high into the top twenty, and great to see The Script hit the top ten. THAT"S a song I've been hearing quite a bit on radio recently.
Oh, I thought it meant the songs dropped from 6 to 84, 10 to 88 etc.
If you can think of a better way of organising it let me know, I don't like it the way I have it
Hijinx, when I write up charts, I would write like this: (for example)
01 (01) THIS IS WHO I AM Vanessa Amorosi
02 (03) MEET ME HALFWAY Black Eyed Peas
03 (02) SEXY BITCH David Guetta & Akon
and so on.
For drop-outs, I write:
XX (84) AWESOME Bloody Beetroots ft The Cool Kids
XX (88) COIN LAUNDRY Lisa Mitchell
XX (93) IF TODAY WAS YOUR LAST DAY Nickelback
and so on.

In charts that I want weeks in & peak position (so far) data to be included, I write:
TW LW WI HP
01 01 02 01 THIS IS WHO I AM Vanessa Amorosi
02 03 08 02 MEET ME HALFWAY Black Eyed Peas
03 02 17 01 SEXY BITCH David Guetta & Akon
and so on.
It just looks neater than yours in my opinion (no offence).

*Note: I used example charts in this, they weren't real.

I just edited it to be more like what you suggested.
Hijinx, where do you get your airplay data from? I know of the aumreport.com/amr100.html site, but is there another that shows drop-outs?
I found something here...
http://www.aircheck.net.au/images/Mediabase.jpg
It says Rihanna was 199 last week.
392414, there is no special site I use, I just copied the chart from last week into a Word document and compared it to this week.
That's an interesting site you have there, I compared the chart and it is the same as the aumreport one. I find it interesting that on that one Bad Romance had moved from 85ish but on the aumreport it was a debut.

@Hijinx, why don't you create a seperate thread called something like 'Airplay Drop-outs Archive', specifically for this, as I created the Take40 Archive thread, to organize it even better/make everything easier to find??
I think it works better with them side by side so it's easier to see it and compare the time based on what was charting high at the time.

Someday still being in the chart is no different to me having to put up with Pink and Lady GaGa still being played on massive rotation on radio.
Someday is only 35, it is not like it is in The Top 20 anymore.
For some reason the Website is not updated.
Will Post the Airplay Chart as soon as possible.
The AUMReport site is still not updated, but the strange Mediabase Australia site has something... http://www.aircheck.net.au/images/Mediabase.jpg
Still not updated...
amr creator here, had computer crashed and lost everything will have new site up asap, but please feel free to check out aircheck as they proved my with a lot of info, sorry about the site not being updated, but things happen.

Hey Hijinx would you mind mentioning which ones dropped out this week and which ones dropped out the week before (from your calculations) please??

I Gotta Feeling out of the airplay charts??

Its chart run:

LOL the emoticons are hilarious!
392414, I don't actually know. When I recorded the chart, I just put the highest songs to stay in. There were heaps of new entries last week. Most likely, Weezer, Alesha Dixon, and Daughtry made it through with the other 9 dropping out that week. As I said, I don't have any more information than you do.
I didn't realise that, I thought you'd worked out most of the missing chart and would be able to work out which ones dropped out when, or the more recent ones you might've been able to calculate from your older charts since you started recording the drop-outs??

392414, I can figure out which songs have left, but since I am missing a week of data, I don't know which songs left in which week, and which positions the remaining ones were last week, the only information I can go on is the LW column in the current chart. The problem is that there must have been two songs that entered that week and left straight away, so I don't know what songs they are.

Mykl, at least Give Me the Meltdown made the ARIA Top 50, unlike Someday.

Hijinx, you might want to edit 'The Last Goonight' to '...Goodnight'.
Thanks for Posting that List Hijinx it is a Good read.
Hopefully sometime in the coming months the archiving site will update so I can get that dodgy October/November 2008 section cleaned up.

I Was confused until in said June 2009, remember everyone it was updated no later then June 2009, that would make sense. No surprise at the Top 2 Artists or Jason Mraz being the Most Played Track but surprised Nickelback got as high as #8 and Coldplay in The Top 5, yay.
Thanks for getting this Info Bulion.
I find it strange that Boom Boom Pow made #86 as it only had about a month and a half of airplay by the end of June and wasn't that big in that time either.
I find it strange to have Shake It so high! I haven't heard it for months!

And I almost forgot this weekly segment...
SOMEDAY IS STILL IN!!!

BTW everybody, the single art of Telephone on the airplay chart site (top-right of the page) is 100% fan made. I made this cover if anyone's interested: http://i1014.photobucket.com/albums/af263/392414/TelephoneLadyGaGaFeatBeyonce.png
Someday I wish you would stop saying Someday Is Still In.
It probably only has a few weeks left in it if even one. That is unless it pulls a Straight Lines or I'm Yours
Why the Someday hate? Songs like Pitbull and Cascada have been in longer, and it IS on the way out. It's not like it's sitting at #27 after 19 weeks! Wolfmother. I have never even heard that on the radio. Someday is far from the worst song in the top 100.
I think the main issue is that it didn't even hit the top 50 charts, yet it managed to make top 10 airplay. Some of the songs by Wolfmother, Gossip, Kings of Leon etc, all made the top 50, albeit for a short time.
Just found this, according to the aircheck website

Due to the success of my weekly segment 'Someday is STILL in!', I have a new weekly segment. It's called:

392414, Give Me The Meltdown debuted at 78.
thanks
Mockingbird is fourth single? Awesome, that's my favourite on the album!

Meanwhile, Sam Clark is at #99! I've never heard it on radio, so hopefully his airplay picks up. Doubt it will though.
I listen to radio til about 11:30pm-midnight every night (Fox FM) and in the time slot from 10pm onwards they seem to play Broken once each night...

I think they said Mockingbird on the radio but I could be wrong lol

Onto a proper discussion now, it's a shame to see Sam Clark drop out after only the one week, but I was surprised to see him ever enter. Apparently Broken has now been added to Fox, so maybe he'll re-enter next week. Glad to see Janet Jackson and Sexy Bitch depart though.

Nice to see Fireflies dump BEP from the top. Huge jump for Hazardous, which I haven't heard on radio yet.
I wouldn't be surprised if Sam Clark re-enters. There have been quite a few re-entries lately. Also, Rob Thomas's solo efforts have nothing on his Matchbox Twenty entries. All Your Reasons peaked at #2 and after 31 weeks in the chart, was at #32

@bluezombie, it doesn't make sense to say that to a song that has only been in 2 weeks lol. But anyway Rude Boy is crap.

So I had to go for a two-weeker. Next week, the second slot will be filled by a debut. (If I can be bothered doing it next week.)

Put It In A Love Song is STILL in!!
69

Meanwhile, in relevant news, it's great to see Heartbreak Warfare debuting within the top twenty! Hopefully it can become a big hit, as I think it deserves to. It's Mayer's best song ever IMO. And very radio-freindly, so I can see it rising.

Sam Clark didn't re-enter though. I had slim hopes, despite not hearing it myself.
I love Heartbreak Warfare too. I'm not sure if I should call it his best song, as Waiting On the World to Change is great, but anyway, I hope it charts well. But looking at Say's shit charting it mightn't, unfortunately.

Put It In a Love Song is awesome! 2nd best Alicia song from that album after her best song ever, Doesn't Mean Nothing! Hopefully it charts well.
Oh, also, putting a new debut makes it look really idiotic.

Meanwhile, I hope 3 Words charts very well, awesome track, even better than Fighting For this Love IMO ATM TBH LOL.
"Oh, also, putting a new debut makes it look really idiotic."

Since I find it idiotic, that was the idea.

Waiting On The World To Change was weird for me, it did nothing for me at the time it was released, but I love it now.

I haven't heard 3 Words in full yet, but it seems destined to chart well.
"Since I find it idiotic, that was the idea."

Lol!

WOTWTC is great, would've been a #1 for me. I loved Say in it's time though, but Heartbreak Warfare is much better than it. And, in contrast, Who Says is crap.

I hope 3 Words doesn't do an Undisclosed Desires and peak high then drop quickly, but it could happen...
He's pulling the piss out the whole rant thing.

I hope 3 words sticks around for a little while. It should last longer than Undisclosed Desires...

I don't like either Who Says or Heartbreak Warfare. Waiting On The World To Change was average too, but I like Say.

Meanwhile, in relevant discussion land, it's nice to see John Mayer moving up and debuts for Rob Thomas and Kisschasy. Great to see Wolfmother fall so hard, that still being around has to be at least as offensive as Someday still being in the top 100. Speaking of Someday, isn't it the second longest runner, after The Script?

It will be interesting to see what the next number one is. No clear favourite emerges to me.
Last edited:
actually it is the third longest. For the past few weeks, She's a Genius has been listed with 17 weeks less than it actually is, which is 34 weeks in. As for next number one, the Aircheck website shows that Fireflies is starting to fall hard and I'd guess Telephone will grab it, maybe next week.
Last edited:
Oh, OK. I wonder how that happened with She's A Genius.

Meanwhile, I was thinking Telephone might possibly get a week on top, but I wouldn't expect it to stay there for more than one or two. Muse seem like an outside chance, but probably not. I just hope BEP don't get back there.
There's more detailed insight here
http://www.aircheck.net.au/top10songs/MediabaseChart.aspx
You'd think that RTB would be falling faster.
Like seeing how many spins Tracks get, thanks for that Link.
Thanks for that link Hijinx, was very interesting. The top two have a reasonable lead, but if the top songs all make similar gains/falls next week, Memories would come out on top. I'm sure it won't happen, but it should be a very close top five I think.

I guess RTB isn't falling faster because radio haven't picked up on whatever shit BEP are sending out next, and so they're still clinging to the current piece of shit.
In my experience of watching the chart I've noticed that they often give a lot of attention to undercharting songs for about a month, but once they realise they aren't selling they drop hard. In the same vein, as soon as charting songs start to drop, airplay drops, with some songs even having nearly identical chart runs on both charts (See Uprising). I'm assuming a big drop is waiting for RTB.
I hope Someday is gone soon...

Big Smoke - why the hell did you delete my 'Someday/GMTM is STILL in...' post? Makes no sense... Just if you like those songs doesn't mean you can deleted others' posts as they dislike them.
Might have been because we've been seeing the same post on a weekly basis for the past three months and it has become tedious and annoying. Also, it adds NOTHING at all to any discussion, which should be the aim.

I'm a Rob Thomas fan, but it's not about liking or disliking a song. If you want to discuss reasons why Someday might still be in the airplay chart six months later, or why there might be three Rob Thomas songs in the top 100, at least that could prove to be an interesting discussion. All these weekly posts do is reiterate that you don't like Someday/GMTM, which, believe me, we all know by now. It's basically spam at this point.
Blue is right, it is staring to get annoying and spammy so I have deleted
all my Rude Boy is STILL in Posts from the past 2 Weeks. Hopefully this stops soon.

Interesting chart this week. I did say last week that if all the gains/losses remained the same (which they obviously never would) that Memories would be #1, but I didn't actually think it would get to number one.

Huge debut for Train. I'm not surprised, I think it's the kind of song that has a good chance of being an airplay #1.

Does anyone know if the two sites we are looking at come from the same source? I ask because they seem to have the same chart this week, but some of their last week info is wildly different (especially concernaing Train and Alicia/Beyonce.)
aircheck tallies spins, where the Aus Music Report chart is based on audience impressions (which is a better representation in my opinion).

LOL I was wondering what your reaction to that would be.
Well I underexaggerated my reactions to be honest.

But then, in the following two hours, I heard Give Me the Meltdown & Mockingbird twice each on the radio.
Does that mean the annoying 'STILL in' posts can finally be laid to rest?

Fantastic debut for Lifehouse, which, like Train is another song that should do pretty well on airplay charts. Even if it doesn't on ARIA, it's very radio friendly to all the commercial stations. Nice to see Train in the top ten.
Well I am still going to record the positions of these Rob Thomas songs in airplay charts, and maybe some other songs, but I'm not going to do those still in posts every week. I'll probably edit them into my Someday drops out post or something, but if you don't mind I'll do a new post with their chart runs every five-six weeks or so.
If you're going to do that, can you at least delete some of the earlier posts, as they're kind of redundant now.
I deleted most of the older Still In posts (except for the ones with other topics in them), before others started doing Still In posts, as everyone referring to my therefore inexistant post would not work properly.

Anyway, I think we should have a new airplay charts thread (part 2), this one is already quite large. Who agrees with me? If people do, I'll close this one and start part 2
I have been thinking the same thing for a while now. If you do make a new one make sure to put the links on the first post and put the current top 20 in there as well.
I have been thinking that for a very long time it seems, but people seem to reject the idea. Yes, I will include the AUMreport link in the first post if I do that. What I'll do, is if tomorrow afternoon, I have more yes's than no's, I'll create the thread and close this one to viewing only.

Also, I could include at the end of the first post the Someday/Meltdown/Mockingbird chart runs, so they're there, and not constantly flooding the thread.

You could add the aircheck link as well, and as with most forums, a link to Part 1, AKA this thread
Yes, of course I will put the part 1 link, and what is the aircheck link you want posted?
I wouldn't be against having a new thread opened, as you say this one is quite large. The AUM Report link should be in the first post, and I too would love the aircheck link in there as well (that's the link that gives the spins, Lifter had it at the bottom of this week's top 20 post.)

I don't get your weird obsession with habitually posting the Rob Thomas chart runs, but if you MUST do it, then I'd prefer it to simply be in the one post which was updated each week, rather than it being done on a weekly basis. So if you need to, put that in the first post too.
Threads can usually contain up to 600 Posts before they come full and this 1 only has 308. Still a long way to go yet. LOL. 500 Posts should be the minimum.
Chart Positions Pre 1989 Part 2 was closed with 300.
But this thread seems quite large, maybe because the posts in this thread are longer than in others? lol. I'll count you as a no though.
