19 year old Taylor Swift's "Love Story" breaks the six week holding pattern it's had at the No.2 spot on the ARIA Top 100 Singles chart this week by moving up one position to the pinnacle of the charts, and gains herself her first Australian No.1. Helped by her recent concert tour, plus her Sound Relief appearance last weekend, and the fact that it's the No.1 selling single for second week (No.2 on downloads), and it also helps her claim a new peak on the album charts (more on that later). It's the first time that the record label Big Machine has achieved a No.1 single in this country, and "Love Story" becomes the 948th No.1 single in Australia. It's the 83rd song with the word 'Love' in it's title to hit the top spot, and only the second with the word 'Story'. The other story was from Frankie Laine and Jimmy Boyd in July 1953, "Tell Me a Story", while the last love song at the top was 13 months ago, Leona Lewis with "Bleeding Love".
Flo Rida's "Right Round" drops down one spot to No.2, but is still at No.1 on downloads, and could rise back to the top next week, as physical sales kick in this week. (it debuts on early sales at No.15) "Halo" by Beyonce reclaims it's former No.3 peak by moving back up one place (No.2 physical), and leaping up four places to No.4 is T.I. feat Justin Timberlake with "Dead and Gone" (from 34 to 6 on physical chart), now becoming his second highest placed single in Australia, one place behind the former No.3 hit "Live Your Life" (No.43 this week).
The highest new entry this week is in at No.10, and it's the first time in seven years that an Academy Award Winning song has made the Top 100 (let alone the Top 10). "Jai Ho (You Are My Destiny)" won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, taken from the film 'Slumdog Millionaire'. In January, the composer A.R. Rahman was approached by Ron Fair, chairmen of Geffen Records, to do a remix featuring the vocals of Nicole Scherzinger from The Pussycat Dolls, to which he agreed, even before the track won it's Academy Award. Now the track enters the charts this week at No.10 (also No.10 on downloads) and becomes the first Academy Award winning song since Eminem's "Lose Yourself" from '8 Mile' in 2002 to appear on the charts. (Before that it was Phil Collins' "You'll Be in My Heart" by Phil Collins from the animated 'Tarzan' film).
Some big climbers this week, and the first of those is Evermore's "Hey Boys and Girls" (album out this week), which leaps up fourteen places to No.12, and with their media onslaught that's due this week (including Rove), this single should be inside the Top 10 (maybe Top 5) next week. 3OH!3 have their album coming out in two weeks, and their track "Don't Trust Me" is up eleven places to No.16 (No.12 DL's). The biggest jump inside the Top 50 is Wes Carr's "Feels Like Woah", which rockets up twenty-seven places to No.17 (No.19 on DL's, No.10 physical). Moving up seven places each are Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" and Britney's "If U Seek Amy" (No.14 physical debut) at No.23 and No.24 respectively. The original version of Akon's "Beautiful" hit No.66 in late December 2008, but a new version featuring Colby O'Donis and Kardinal Offishall this week climbs sixty-one places to No.22 (No.29 DL) to give him two Top 30 singles, as his former No.17 hit "Right Now (Na Na Na) is down seven places to No.30 this week. Last weeks Sound Relief concerts have had a turn-around effect for some performers on this weeks chart. Coldplay I'll discuss soon, but The Presets have four singles in the Top 100, all of which benefit from last weeks performance. 40 from 59 - Talk Like That (No.19, Oct 2008) 53 from 89 - My People (No.14, Oct 2008) 72 from 87 - If I Know You (new peak after three weeks charting) Re-entry89 - This Boys in Love (No.23, June 2008). Coldplay actually have eight singles in the Top 100, three of those inside the Top 50. The aforementioned "Viva La Vida" is the highest placed at No.23, while up thirty-two places to No.47 is "Fix You" (No.25, Sept 2005 and No.52, March 2008), and re-entering the Top 100 at No.48 is their second single "Yellow" (No.5, Feb 2001). The rest of their Top 100 action this week is... 56 from 72 - Clocks (No.28, March 2003) 74 from 81 - Life in Technicolor II (No.63, Feb 2009) 76 from 90 - The Scientist (No.40, Nov 2003) 81 from 95 - Violet Hill (No.9, June 2008) Re-entry97 - The Hardest Part (No.40, June 2006).
Jessica Mauboy claims her third charting single this week, as the title track from her album, "Been Waiting", debuts at No.29 (No.23 DL, No.21 physical). It follows the former No.1 single "Burn" (Jan 2009, No.38 this week) and the No.3 track "Been Waiting" (Oct 2008, No.84 this week).
Below Top 50 info:
With their former No.11 single "Jizz in My Pants" sitting at No.14 this week, the comedy trio known as The Lonely Island score their second Top 100 single by entering at No.85 with "I'm on a Boat", and their album "Incredibad" was released digitally during the past week, with the physical release due on March 27th.
Franz Ferdinand's second single from their "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand" album debuts at No.87, "No You Girls". First single "Ulysses" peaked at No.62 in the first week of February, and the album is sitting at No.65 this week (up from No.71).
Fourth single from "The Fame" (No.13) by Lady GaGa debuts at No.92, entitled "The Love Game". Her other three singles are all still inside the Top 50 this week, with "Poker Face" down one place to No.13, "Eh, Eh (Nothing I Can Say)" falls nine places to No.27, and her first hit "Just Dance" is spending it's thirty-eighth week in the charts at No.49.
Kevin Rudolf lands at No.96 with his second single, "Welcome to the World" featuring guest vocalist Kid Cudi. The physical release for this track is due April 10th, and it's the follow-up to his former No.3 hit "Let it Rock" which falls thirteen places to No.32 this week.
Kings of Leon re-claim the No.1 position on the ARIA Australian Album Charts this week for a third time at the top. With their tour of Australia in full effect, plus a tour edition of the album, and their appearance at last weekends Sound Relief concert, it all added up to a resurgence or their entire catalogue. 01 from 04 - Only By the Night 22 from 27 - Because of the Times 27 from 29 - Aha Shake Heartbreak 51 from 55 - Youth and Young Manhood Re-entry84 - Youth & Young Manhood/Aha Shake Heartbreak (Double album) "Only By the Night" is now in it's eleventh week at the top of the album charts, putting it in equal third place for longest-running album at No.1 position this decade. It now ties with the "Moulin Rouge" Soundtrack (May 2001), and is one week away from equaling James Blunt's "Back to Bedlam" album which spent twelve weeks at No.1.
Taylor Swift claims the No.1 single position, but moves to a new peak of No.2 as her tour edition album of "Fearless" moves up three places, plus the album also picks up a Platinum certification this week. Taylor also made an appearance at the Sydney edition of Sound Relief, and crowd favorites The Presets not only see their single rise up the charts, but their album is up thirteen places to No.11 this week, now in it's 49th week on the charts. And other tourists Coldplay not only have eight singles inside the Top 100, but all of their four albums are inside the Top 40 this week. 05 from 06 - Viva la Vida (No.1, June 2008) 32 from 47 - Parachutes (No.2, March 2001) 33 from 46 - A Rush of Blood to the Head (No.1, Sept 2002) 38 from 57 - X&Y (No.1, June 2005)
Drummer from Spiderbait, Kram, scores his debut album (tape?) "Mix Tape" as the highest new entry of the week, coming in at No.30. "Silk Suits" is the lead track from the album, and is yet to chart.
Former Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell debuts at No.69 with his third solo album, "Scream". It follows on from 1999's "Euphoria Morning" (No.21, Oct 1999) and 2007's "Carry On" (No.27, June 2007).

Finally a new number 1, but i doubt itll last good movements throughout the chart surprised to see little movement of britney and katy with their physical, looks like jess M will not score another top 5? didnt expect wes carr to rise to high, would of thought itd flop and label not continueing his contract
@billbeast: you said the next P!nk single is "This Is How Its Goes Down" where did you hear that?
@Bulion: can bonus tracks such as "This Is How Its Goes Down" be released as a single? because some country may not include that song and therefore not contribute to the album?? Last edited:
isnt A Public affair first single and track number 1on her album? beautiful liar was on standard tracklist on a re-release edition of Beyonce's album in beyonce's album and later added as a bonus on shakira's album after the single was released
What i meant was releaseing the song when its already a bonus track rather than releaseing a non-album single then adding it later as a bonus track
i thought TBAMFW was released as a single fromt he soundtrack, then added as a bonus track on the new album afterwards
Beautiful liar is listed as a regular album track on the re-release. on track one. the bonus tracks on that re-release album was bracketed bonus such as track 17-19
same goes with Rihanna, the re-release of GGGB included dicturbia, take a bow and IINSYFA, but they werent bonus tracks but regulars, the bonus was Haunted and various versions of hate that i love you
if i remember correctly, jessica simpson's i belong to me appeared as a bonus track on the A Public Affair album in some countries. when label decided that I belong to me to be released as a single, new shipments of the album were sent with I Belong to me no longer being credited as a bonus track and joined with the regular tracklisting
I Aggree with you "You Are My Destiny". Although not pefect it is still a good track and is far better then I originally thought. Also Evermore have now hit #5 on I-tunes. You can thank Rove for that. Last edited:

I will as of now stop using Wikipedia. "The Fame" by "Lady GaGa" officially peaked at #73 in November last year, and when i provide the link which has the Official Aria Chart from that week (Which i got from Pandora) they told me it fails to be reliable. Wikipedia is a really bad encyclopedia. They also reckon no Garbage songs peaked outside top 50, or that"LoveGame" by Lady GaGa debuted this week. A bunch of bozo's they are.
'Hey Boys & Girls' show Evermore moving from Indie Rock (their past 2 albums) to Electro. I personally like the change and look forward to hearing the album. Keep experimenting through the musical spectrum guys!
Also great to see "No You Girls" by one of my fav groups Franz Ferdinand debut at No.87. It has been used extensively on the new ipod tv advertising. If there was chart justice this would go all the way to the top ten, but I will be content if it cracks the top 50.
Believe it or not but today I brought (With my own money) my very 1st Music CD, EVER. The Album I brought was Coldplay - Viva la vida Prospects March Edition. Now I don't have to worry about killing the music I like. Also when I was in K-mart I saw some strange things on the shelves. On several trips to K-mart I saw Anthony Calleas CD A New Chapter. I was like what the hell that CD is over 2 years old and no one buys it anymore. If anyone else has seen some unusual things on the shelves it would be good to hear it.
its not strange to see that in a general store like k-mart. some places dont even bother to update their new releases which is quite angrovating since singles are not being stocked frequently. Buying one Cd is not good enough =] its a long way to save physical formats especailly singles. come on everyone! save physical formats as long as we can! ***ALSO!!! SAVE THE PLANET!!! CONTRIBUTE TO EARTH HOUR***
