For a third week in a row, The Black Eyed Peas have kept their "Boom Boom Pow" single at No.1 in Australia. They are also at No.1 with this song in eight other countries, and this week held onto the top spot on the World Sales Chart, plus the World Airplay Chart. Their new album "The E.N.D (The Energy Never Dies)" is out this week, so maybe they'll hold the top of the both charts next week, which they did this very week back on 6-June-2006 when "Don't Phunk With My Heart" and it's parent album "Monkey Business" held the top of both charts for a single week.

Eminem holds at No.2 for a fourth week (could he be the new Taylor Swift?) with "We Made You", and jumping up five places from No.8 to No.3 (No.2 DL), is Rob Thomas with "Her Diamonds", equaling his previous best-effort of "Lonely No More" which peaked at No.3 for three weeks in May 2005. With Rob jumping up, it pushes "Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)" by The PCD's, "BreakEven" by The Script and "Not Fair" (10 to No.5 PS) by Lily Allen down one place apiece. P!nk's "Bad Influence" stays put at No.7 for it's seventh week in the charts, and the only new entry to the Top 10 is Sidney Samson's "Riverside", which creeps up two places to No.10 (No.15 & No.40 DL) from No.12 to push last week's No.10 entry for Linkin Park down to No.17.
Half of the 11 to 20 are all songs that score new peaks this week, the first of which is Katy Perry's "Waking Up in Vegas" which halves it's position from last week, climbing eleven places to No.11 (No.18 to No.10 DL, physical this week). With their new album debuting high on the charts (see below), Eskimo Joe's "Foreign Land" is back up the charts twelve places to No.13 (No.13 DL). Three touring acts help stimulate their current releases, with Kelly Clarkson appearing around the country for a promotional tour, her latest single "I Do Not Hook Up" is up fourteen places to No.15 (her other single "My Life Would Suck Without You" also climbs from No.58 to No.44). The Pussycat Dolls' "Hush Hush; Hush Hush" is up fifteen places from No.31 to No.16, and their tourmate Lady Gaga scores the biggest rise within the Top 100 this week as her new single "Paparazzi" flashes up forty-six places from No.73 to No.27 this week.
Other new peaks within the rest of the Top 50 include David Guetta's "When Love Takes Over" (No.22), "Bonkers" by Dizzee Rascal (No.28), "Differently" by Cassie Davis (No.34) and jumping up twelve places to No.37 is Keri Hilson's "Knock You Down".

The Winner of the 2008 International Songwriting Competition is the highest new entry onto the Top 100 this week in the form of Kate Miller-Heidke's "Caught in the Crowd", which enters at No.33 (No.30 DL debut). Kate and co-writer Keir Nuttall were awarded a $US25,000 prize in April, and the single was the subject of a 2009 school video competition, in which students were invited to highlight the issue of school bullying. With "Caught in the Crowd" debuting this high, it also becomes Kate's highest placed single in Australia (so far), as the first single from her second album "Can't Shake it" reached No.38 (Oct 2008), and her first single "Words" (June 2007) peaked at No.43. Her latest album "Curiouser" re-enters at No.53 this week.

Nickelback debut with their thirteenth charting single in Australia, as "If Today Was Your Last Day" enters at No.36. It's the third single from the "Dark Horse" album (No.25 this week), with "Gotta Be Somebody" (No.91) and "I'd Come For You" (No.60) both still in the Top 100 this week.

Leicester, England four-piece Kasabian formed in 1999 and were originally called 'Saracuse' before they took their name from Linda Kasabian, cult leader Charles Manson's getaway driver. They debut at No.41 with their first Australian chart entry, "Fire", taken from the groups third album "The West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum" which is released this week.

BELOW Top 50:

Miley Cyrus's "Hoedown Throwdown" has been climbing a couple of spots the past three weeks, but this week is jumps up eighteen places to No.66 to be the only new peak below the Top 50 this week. In case you were wondering were last weeks high flyer "3AM" by Eminem went, it fell from No.38 to No.77 this week. And "Low" by Flo Rida is still the oldest song on the Top 100, climbing back up two places to No.97 in it's 71st week on the charts.

La Roux (French for "Red-Haired One" {french would be 'La Rousse'} enter at No.63 with their former UK No.2 single "In For the Kill". The duo of Elly and Ben are influenced by 80's synth-pop acts like Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Eurythmics and The Human League, and supported Lily Allen on her March 2009 UK tour. Their self-titled album is due for release in the first week of July.

Sydney-sider Sarah Blasko is due to release her third album "As Day Follows Night" on July 10th, which she recorded in Stockholm, Sweden. The first single from that album becomes her first charting single in Australia, debuting at No.64 is "All I Want".

Debuting (and a new peak for this song) at No.73 is "Show Me Love" by Laidback Luke and Steve Angello feat Robin S. Featuring the famous Korg M1 Percussion Organ Preset throughout the track, the original version of "Show Me Love" just by Robin S. peaked at No.78 in late February 1994 here in Australia, but was a No.1 Billboard Hot Dance Club Play No.1 in late 1993, and peaked at No.5 on the US Top 100 charts, plus peaked at No.6 in the UK. This new version peaked at No.11 in the UK in April, and reached No.1 on the UK Dance Chart.

Wolfmother's first taste of their second album "Cosmic Egg" (due for September release) sneaks into the Top 100 at No.100 this week, it's entitled "Back Round", and this groups sixth chart entry, and first new entry since "Joker & The Thief" debuted and peaked at No.8 in November 2006.

One year and fifty weeks ago (almost two year), Eskimo Joe debuted at No.1 with their third album "Black Fingernails, Red Wine" (June 19, 2006), and now they do the same with their fourth album "Inshalla", which debuts on a Gold Sales Accreditation. The album title is an Arabic word meaning 'what will be will be', but the literal translation is 'God willing'.
The album was released in two versions, the edition with the bonus live CD only available in Western Australia, where they also played some secret gigs this past week. "Inshalla" will be their first European released album, and is due for release in the US in mid-July.
"Inshalla" becomes the 592nd No.1 album in Australia, and the 138th by an Australian act. It's only the second local act this year to hit the No.1 spot on the album charts, Natalie Bassingthwaighte was the other; and they're the first Australian group to hit No.1 since AC/DC's "Black Ice" did so last October.

Eminem falls down to No.2 after spending two weeks at No.1, but P!nk's "Funhouse" stays stable at No.3, thanks to her three month tour of Australia. That tour has also (once again) pulled her back-catalogue up the charts, with "I'm Not Dead" up to No.12, "M!ssundaztood" up twelve places to No.19, giving her three albums in the Top 20 this week. "Try This" is up nine places to No.26 and her first album "Can't Take Me Home" leaps up eighteen places to No.38 to place all five of her albums inside the Top 40. Kelly Clarkson was on Rove, Good News Week, Australia's Funniest Home Videos, the morning shows, and plenty of others, which has all helped her latest album "All I Ever Wanted" to jump back up the album charts sixteen places from No.30 to No.14.

The sixth album for Albany, California punks Rancid entitled "Let the Dominoe's Fall" enters the album charts at No.31, becoming their second highest charting album here. Their first Top 50 entry was back in 1996 with their third album "...And Out Come the Wolves" which reached No.30, their fourth album "Life Won't Wait" (July 1998) reached No.41, and album number five was "Indestructible" (September 2003), which peaked at No.48.

I cant understand why Caught in the Crow would enter ths week. its her highest charting single yet, and she doesnt even done anhthing for the sales boost.
Except for her performence on Sunrise of course.
The ARIA website isnt updated yet....why is this???
With the Aria Awards cut off being the end of August, beginning of September then it's fair to say that over the past 12 months there hasn't been any real big standouts in Aussie talent that gets recognised by Aria.

I say this as Aria doesn't acknowledge Idol and Soapie stars too often so chances of Natalie Bassingthwaite & Jessica Mauboy being huge contenders should be real slim.

The Presets dominated last year so this year should see Empire Of The Sun as big contenders.

Evermore are a NZ act so they'll be shot down.

Big contenders for 2009 Aria's should include Cassie Davis, Empire Of The Sun, Eskimo Joe, Hilltop Hoods & AC/DC.

Highest Selling Oz single should be Wes Carr
Highest selling Oz Album should be AC/DC
Best female should be Cassie Davis (which will eliminate Nat B & Jess M)
Best male could see Keith Urban in with a chance as I don't know too many other contenders.

What do u guys reckon?
Can we get a thread started to start some discussion on the Arias?
Evermore have been nominated before so it could go either way.

With physical releases:
David Guetta/Kelly Rowland and Taylor Swift should both go top 20 next week.
Katy Perry should also go top 10.

Also, I wasn't sure if Evermore were nominated before, I thought they were robbed. They've only had 1 single anyway, so I imagine they will be nominated but wont be big contenders.
Good to see Riverside go Top 10. Even more thrilled about the Nickelback debut at #36, sigh it's too bad it won't do any or much better. Whats with Eskimo Joe's chart run, one week they go up 7 spots to 16 then fall 9 spots to 25 the next and then go up 12 spots to #13 the week after that. It's all over the place. Shame on you Australia for making Evermore drop 9 places and keeping The Black Eyed Whatevers at #1.

Is Sweet Dreams by Beyoncè in the top 100?
That's a negatory Carl
I hope "Sweet Dreams" can make top 20, i really dig it at the moment.

Cassie Davis has a new song, "Murder".....and it's actually quite enjoyable. I heard it tonight on Nova 100.

"1000 Stars" by Nat Bass was definately a wrong single choice. It only spent 2 weeks in top 50....a huge flop considering i actuallly like the song. Apparently single #4 is "Catch Me If You Can", which should've been #3 IMO

I still cant get over "Caught In The Crowd" entering, and bein the highest charting single. Although i do like the song, "Can't Shake It" is way better IMO, and deserved to chart higher.

Keri Hilson's Knock You Down is crap, and there is no doubt in my mind that the only reason its charting top 50, is because Ne-Yo and Kanye West are featured in it. "Energy" and "Return The Favour" are extremely better.
It's strange that it's not in the top 100 since it was around 50 on Itunes for all the week...Well it will debut in the top 50 next week!
ARIA still havent updated the website yet...what gives????
Disappointed to see Sidney Sampson crack the top ten this week, and surprised to see Kate Miller Heidke debut, she dropped a lot on iTunes, I would have thought she'd debut last week if she was going to. Maybe Caught In The Crowd was downloaded heavily elsewhere, or purchased physically by a lot of people. We really need a new top two. Great to see Katy Perry almost top ten, and Lady GaGa entering.

Kelly Clarkson, Black Eyed Peas & Katy Perry will probably enter the Top 10 next week, replacing Miley Cyrus, Lady GaGa & Sidney Samson.
I agree with you Innocent Eyes, those songs should definately be top 10 next week though i think Pussycat Dolls may fall from the top 10 rather than Miley. I Gotta Feeling could even go top 3 as its now #3 on itunes.

I still think BBP could well have 6-8 weeks at the top now. I'm not sure if there's any serious contenders over the coming weeks? I guess they could replace themselves or may be Paparazzi? Most songs in the itunes top 10 have or nearly peaked. I really thought When Love Takes Over could be top 10 on itunes by now, there's now a big gap between #10 and #11 so its gonna takes a few days for any song to catch up.

Are the videos for Paparazzi or When Love Takes Over on TV yet over there?
I saw the video for Papparazzi on youtube......it's pretty crap compared to all the secrecy its had. Nothing like i expected it to be, and she cant mime for shit in it.
I hope that JBHIFI does not stop with the physical single. Otherwise I will be forced to just pirate more.
does anyone know what position the Passion Pit album's at this week? Frustrating that ARIA chart still isn't updated, perhaps it's because it's a long weekend...
I must admit CD Singles arent that good anymore anyway. 2 tracks and thats it on majority of them.
lol is ANY music good anymore? I mean there are some good songs and artists out there but nobody seems to know about it and rarely do they chart

It's a wonder sales are so low these days...
Oh yes, as if Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, N Sync were good when sales hit an all time high at the beginning of the 00s.
Yeah well you are right about that one Innocent Eyes, but they are much lower now. As a matter of fact, the US didn't even have one platinum album released during the first quarter of this year. But I digress...
More people are getting their music illegally these days compared to the N'Sync days so that's why sales can't and should not be compared to back then.

& Wow, Jai Ho! has spent a whopping 12 weeks in the top 10. This song has been huger than I ever expected it to be.
All this talk of pop replacing pop in the top ten is not very exciting. Glad to see a totally different dance track in Riverside bust in there. I am over all this talk about Katy Pery, Lady Gaga, Pussycat Dolls, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears and now Queen Bogan herself Cassie Davis considering most of these artists are now up to there 3rd, 4th and 5th singles from their rather average albums. Surely there is more to music than pop.

Ok now that I have offended just about every pop lovers taste here, enough badgering, some questions:

1. With BEP's seemingly having a strangelhold on #1, what will be the next #1?

2. Will BEP's have the #1 album next week?

3. Will 'Foreign Land' go top ten?

4. Will La Roux go top 40 with 'In for the kill?'
perhaps something more current for this week

question 5. Will the physical single disapear from Australia all together? If so when? And how will this affect you buying music?
Oh and great to see Kasabian debut at #41 with 'Fire'. That track is just awesome, one of the rock jewels of the year.
I hope Rob Thomas has the next number 1; been around for ages as a solo artist and with Matchbox 20 without having a number 1 song.

I have fond memories of the physical single; back in 1996 I bought every top 10 charting single (and still have all of them) .... how much do you reckon I'd get for Gina G "Ooh Aah just a little bit" ... to see the physical single go just shows how the market is going; people are downloading from I-tunes all their singles. The physical single cd also occasionly gave you remixes of the song, b-sides to the single etc ... will be sad day if it does go ..
1. Unfortunately it looks like the BEP's will replace themselves as the next ARIA number one, at least I Gotta Feeling, despite not making sense gramatically is a better song than Boom Boom Pow.

2. Yeah, BEP's will have the #1 album next week too, because they're soooo talented and all.

3. I don't think Foreign Land will go top ten, I think this will be it's peak. It's no Black Fingernails Red Wine, but it's growing on me so I wouldn't mind if it did.

4. I think it's pretty unlikely that La Roux will make top 40.

5. Yes, the physical single will disappear from Australia. Record companies will probably start to realise that there is almost nowhere willing to sell them, and may have to make the decision to stop production. It won't affect me buying music at all, I never used to purchase singles in the pre-download days, I didn't find them to be good value, I'd only get albums. Now I download from iTunes and Bigpond.

Wil, Passion Pit's album did not make the Top 100 this week.
Are we certain JB will stop selling physical singles? Considering the sections are rather small I thought they would keep it going?? Personally I will just start pirating more if I cannot get the physical single.
Why would you need to pirate more if you can't buy physical? You still have the option of paying for downloads, sure you don't get a physical copy of the CD, but you don't if you illegally download either. Seems like it's an excuse to justify illegal downloads and not paying for legal ones.

I stopped buying CD singles in mass in early 06 so it wouldn't effect me. I still however purchase the #1's so that may be a problem, but thankfully Europe has a healthy market for the single still.
The comments reguarding singles only being 2 tracked is so true. Back in the day (90's onwards) it was awesome to hear a B-Side or live/acoustic version you didn't get on an album.
When Bon Jovi released the "Lost Highway" singles in 07/08 I was forced to go abroad to purchase these singles. They were still 3 to 6 track enhanced singles, so it just goes to show some artists are still looking after there fans
Does anyone know what's going on with the ARIA website? I find it surprising that they still haven't updated the charts.
1.Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow / I Gotta Feeling

The 1st single might remain at No.1 for another week, then
the 2nd hit will takeover as the new No.1!!
The band should make Aria and Itunes chart history sometime this week!!, can't wait.
"I Gotta Feeling" really deserves to peak at No.1, highly addictive song, and very radio friendly! love it!!

2.Black Eyed Peas - The E.N.D.

Anticipation over the new album has reached fever pitch!!
Fantastic!, purchased the double cd yesterday and it's so worth it!. The album MUST debut at No.1 and create Aria chart history once more!!, it would be a major dissapointment if the album never reaches No.1, so i hope for the best!!

My predictions for next week:

#1.Black Eyed Peas - The E.N.D. (New Debut)
#1.Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow (No.1 again)
#2.Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling (New Debut, no physical)

3.Eskimo Joe - Foreign Land

The song could rebound and peak in the Top 20 again, maybe #12, but could fail to reach the coveted Top 10, good luck!!

4.La Roux - In For The Kill!

The song could peak somewhere between position #50 to #40.

5.Physical CD Single format:

JbHifi still stock physical singles, God bless them!!
Went shopping yesterday and purchased new singles from
David Guetta and Katy Perry!, can't wait to buy Little Boots and Empire of the Sun, in the coming weeks!.

With physical cd singles you get so much more!!, like B-sides, posters, stickers, music videos, and remixes. I don't have a credit card, so i prefer physical singles.

I really hope that the format doesn't become extinct.
In Perth, the majority of cd singles can be found at Kmart and JBHifi. BigW and Target don't stock cd singles anymore, unfortunately. The fate of physical singles is currently unknown?, but the death has been delayed for a while, yay!

Oh no!!

Hello BlueZombie!

I would like to know the source where you got that info from, and if it's a reliable source?
Thanks Bulion for uploading the new ARIA chart - for some reason they still haven't uploaded it on the official website.
Great to see Lady Gaga at 27 with Paparazzi...
Usually with the Aria's there are stand out artists every year.

2008: The Presets & Gabriela Cilmi
2007: Silverchair & Sneaky Sound System
2006: Eskimo Joe & Bernard Fanning
2005: Ben Lee & Missy Higgins
2004: Jet & John Butler Trio
2003: Delta Goodrem
2002: Kasey Chambers & Kylie Minogue
2001: Powderfinger & Human Nature
2000: Killing Heidi, Vanessa Amorosi & Madison Avenue
1999: Powderfinger
1998: Natalie Imbruglia & Regurgitator
1997: Savage Garden
1996: Christine Anu
1995: Silverchair & Tina Arena
1994: The Cruel Sea
1993: Wendy Matthews
1992: Baby Animals & Yothu Yindi
1991: Midnight Oil & Jimmy Barnes
1990: Ian Moss & Kate Cebrano

I agree this year will be a hard year to pick. Empire Of The Sun have a good chance and I think this year might see Natalie Bassigthwaite have some luck also.
The Aria chart is starting to resemble the Billboard chart.

I say this for 2 reasons.
First. Rubbish songs chart high not because they are good but rather who sings them.
Second. The chart is starting to show signs of popularity as numerous artists have multiple singles in the top 100. Pink, Beyonce, Kings Of Leon, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga to name a few.

It's going to be very hard for a new artist to do well on the Aussie singles chart as old favourites are gonna hog the lime light even with bad singles. I rest my case with both Eminem & Black Eyed Peas.

Sadly, Aria is turning very similar into another Billboard.
The part 'Robbish songs chart high not because they are good but rather who sings them' is not something new. Just look at Eminem who landed at #1 in 2004 with the awful just Lose It. I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't have landed at the top if someone else sang it.

The same goes for Kylie Minogue's Slow and all the Australian Idol singles It's clearly not something new.

Numerous artists have mutiple entries because record companies can't delete old singles now that we're in the download era. If record companies hadn't deleted so many singles in the end of the 90's, middle of the 00s, you could be sure that many acts would have had several songs charting during the same week. i'm particularly thinking about Usher, Britney, Spiderbait whose huge selling singles were deleted only a few weeks after their release.

I refuse to purchase inferior lossy paid downloads. When you can provide FLAC downloads, I will be happy.

ATM for the few singles that do not have physical releases I have been able to purchase online and import. That will become cost prohibitive if I had to start paying some $12 for each single. I do lots of DJing and purchase everything that enters the Top 40. (Have single 2000!)

If the physical single can effect the No 1 spot still I don't see how they can get rid of them. Sure produce smaller numbers but not delete. I do hope JB HIFI do not delete the single. Please keep the small section!
I hope Rob Thomas break up that top 2 next week.

what are people thinking about Nikki Webster "Devilicious" i checked it out on youtube but im not sure what to think just yet but i think she has changed heaps that's for sure. It will be interesting to see how it charts too. It will be released in two days.

here is the url.
Happypeople's questions.

1. After the overated Boom Boom Pow is finished being #1 it will probally be The Black Eyed #@$%'s other track I Gotta Feeling and they might do what Timbaland did in late 2007 and have 2 Singles in the ARIA Top 2 at the same time. What has happened to quality chart music.
It like what John Lennon once said. We can write the worst song in the world and it will still go #1 because we are The Beatles, only in this case it is T.B.E. Peas who happen to be the biggest band in the world right now.

2. Of course their shit Album will go #1. It's The Black Eyed Peas.

3. No it shouldn't. Eskimo Joe are a good band but this comeback Single is disapointing and they will only do well in the Album Chart.

4. Have not heard of it. I will guess a peak in the 40's.

5. And finally question #5 Will the physical single disapear from Australia all together? If so when? And how will this affect you buying music?

Yes they will disapear because physical singles are a dying market and it is only a matter of time before they become completly extint. I will guess the extintion date to be around late 2010 or early 2011 and ARIA would then become 100% downloads and the download chart and phsical Singles chart would disapear. It would be like 2006 but 100% downloads instead of 100% physicals.

I don't buy music so this does not affect me at all. Never have and probally never will. In fact I don't even buy music online because I don't even know how. In my entire lifetime I have only ever brought 1 Album and that was in April this year. Try and guess what that Album was LOL. Hint: It was released last year.

Lifter, surely it's Nickelback Dark Horse. Other than that it must be Coldplay.
I think I remember him saying it was Coldplay.
Hijinx is right. A while back I mentioned it was Coldplay Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends Prospects March Edition.

Dark Horse was a good guess Bluezombie. By the way in case you are wondering how I have access to the album tracks, hardcore Nickelback fans post them on Youtube. LOL.

I can't wait until we can boot all this Eminem, BEP, Pink, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry etc off the charts - they're all so overrated and forgettable in the long run

But it'll never happen will it, coz we'll just keep getting more rubbish, hey? Seriously, people, go listen to and buy real music instead of this rubbish - just use limewire if you want the Katy Perry's or the Lady Gaga's or whatever
MP389: I will partly agree with you on this one. Why do I agree, because most of my favorite tracks at the moment don't even appear in the ARIA Top 50. Those crap tunes are not totaly forgetable though, you can use them as plates or frisbees. .
You can give downloads to your annoying little Brother/Sister so they can keep you in peace.

By the way, Describe what real music is.

"Music" is supposed to be an art form, ya know. Real music actually takes some talent, tell some sort of story, and should not be "manufactured". It's supposed to have melody, harmony and rhythm. Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, for example, are NOT!! real musicians, none of them can actually sing (they all lip sync or sound horrible live), plus none of them can write a good song if their lives depended on it. It's all marketing and hype, and nothing else! I mean, this manufacturing biz has been going on for a long long time anyway (Spice Girls, BSB for example, too, also Australian Idol amongst others). Of course, some of their songs may be catchy and fun to dance to, but it is not "music", ok, see they may have rhythm, but lack melody or harmony. It could also be debated about those that cuss in songs, but I won't go there, but one should also think about what is happening with little kids who idolise/sing along to those "musicians" that curse, sing about stupid, inappropriate things, or act stupidly. I would, also, probably not throw Pink into the category of "not music", since she does write her songs and can sing, the only thing there is that she cusses a fair bit and, as some people have said in amazon reviews, does somewhat contradict herself at times. Now lets not start any arguments about what is or isn't considered "music" or anything that I've said, but please do have a think about what I said.
g'day, mp389 stop worring about what other people listen too. it's a waste of energy! it's energy that could be better spent on the music YOU like listening too, yeah.
Thanks for that MP389.
For me real music is music that sounds good (To me). Simple as that.

Lady GaGa writes her own stuff, and despite initially judging her and writing her off as awful, I now own her album. It's just so much fun, and I would class it as music. The only stuff that charts that I sometimes wouldn't call music is some of the electronic stuff, even then it really is music, just not my kind of thing. Katy Perry writes as well.
MP389 you have opened a can of worms, much the same as I have done in previous entries on the weekly threads. I have been a sizable critic of Lady Gaga in recent weeks but I think maybe I have been a bit harsh. It seems she is abit more authentic than the others and I feel she is trying to paint herself as this generation's Cyndi Lauper (although of course she is not as good). Her brand of pop is clinical and pretty good, my problem with her is that she is getting over-exposed at the moment and her more recent singles have been weak so she needs to go quietly into the night until her next album release about 18 months to 2 years (unfortunately it will be much sooner) from now.

You can criticise Britney and the Pussycat dolls (I believe there is a facebook page dedicated to how utterly crap they are) all you want though. I feel these are really manufactured. Katy Perry I don't know much about to be honest but from what I heard it is not my kind of music.

Music should be 'Art'? Well for purists I would say yes. I am a fan of a lot of authentic original musicians and bands. I regulary see live gigs and yes Melbourne live music scene is better than Sydney. But stop and think for a moment maybe music can be dirty manufactured pop as well that can make loads of money for the record companies and artists as well. Robbie Williams is one artist who I believe has just made some average albums of late just to fullful an irresponsible 6 album record contract he signed just for money. Now I am ranting.

Lifter - I knew you had the Coldplay album, if only I logged on earlier I would have been the first to answer. Also you would be pleased to know Evermore's Hey Boys & Girls has been atop my personal chart for 4 consecutive weeks. Great track.

Hijinx - welcome back!

album guru joe - great point you made.

And thanks for all who answered my questions! Have a good weekend!
Haha, I never left!
Well said Happypeople.
Evermore - HBAG is a great track. It was on top of mine for 2 consecutive weeks and has spent over 3 Months inside my Top 3. Their new one "Can You Hear Me" is currently spending it's 1st week at #1 on my personal.

Hijinx - I have not seen you post in recent weeks/months. Maybe not on the boards I was reading..

Lifter - have yet to hear the new Evermore track.
Does anyone else find Lily Allen annoying?

I find her so over-rated yet she has had 2 fairly big hits so far this year and both those songs I have found boring and annoying. Maybe it's her voice I don't like.

I actually think 3/4's of the current top 10 is over-rated.
If it makes you happy I don't like her track It's Not Fair. Her accent in that tune is very offputting. The Fear is OK though and I kinda like Fuck You.

Happypeople: I recommend you hear it. It's bloody brilliant.
It might take a few listens to get into it though.

G'day, i love Lily Allen (sorry Not a Lily Allen fan); i find her quite amusing. she does take the piss out of alot of stereo types but i think she fits into alot of the stereo types she sings about and knows it. Honesty, a rare commoditiy in rock/pop these days and i like it

I missed the spam episode, but thanks to Bulion for cleaning it up.

To 'Not a Lily Allen fan' yes I agree with you. For me the fear was just ok, while the newie 'Not Fair' I can barely listen to. Having said that I am a fan of her first album from 2006. Some fantastic tracks on their like LDN, Alfie and Friday night.
