Hey guys. I've been working on a new site for some time now. The aim has been to list every single that's made the Australian Top 100 singles chart since 1970, along with some concise data such as entry date, peak position and end-of-year information. Also to include my personal ratings/rankings and preview audio.
I've recently put up lists of every single that entered the ARIA Top 100 in 2009 and so far in 2010 (with chart stats, ratings and audio for each song) so I think I'm ready to spread the word. Any feedback would be appreciated.
The site is well set out. Plenty of potential to expand. I agree as you said on your homepage that search functions will make it a very useful reference site. Nice to see 'We Are The People' rank well with you in 2009. It was one of my favourites for the year too.
I'm very thrilled with the site it must of took ages to make.
One thing i cant wait for is the early 00's theres heaps of songs i woudnt mind hearing and songs i havnt heard in years. Hopefully you can find all the tracks and be able to keep the streaming. Last edited:
I'm not sure. My site is completely free. I haven't paid for anything, not even the web hosting. The audio streams are low bitrate, similiar to what is used for YouTube videos. I figure that if the audio content becomes a legal problem I'd just remove it. lol
LIFTER500: Yeah. I hate that one with a passion too. I remember when it came out I quipped, "The hardest part is having to listen to that song." They've only had one song that I quite enjoy and it's "Clocks."
awesome site savagegrant. love the jukebox. i noticed you have max q's 'way of the world' on it. i love that song & have been trying to track down their album but can't find it anywhere. does anyone out there know where i can get it?
I've just created a blog for my Top 100's. It has full audio for every song, in the same format (and using the same player) that I had on my site. So far my 1994 list is up and also the 2500+ song jukebox from my site.
Any problems playing the songs on my blog, please let me know, and any suggestions or advice are very welcome. Will be adding more lists to it soon and hopefully there will be something of interest for you guys while I work on getting my site back up.
Technically, my blog's audio infringes on copyright in the same way that music videos on YouTube do, although they serve the same purpose and that is to promote music. The quality of the audio is no better than YouTube videos and therefore strongly encourages people to buy the songs that they like. And, just like YouTube, the audio is streaming only. There is no download option provided.
The only investment I've made in my blog is my time. I've used free web resources to create it and I don't make any money off of it, so if it gets taken down it's not the end of the world. Though, as a big fan of music, I do hope that it survives and that I can keep working on it well into the future.
I added my 1990 & 1991 lists yesterday and 1992 this morning. Will be posting 1993 shortly and 2009 soon after. The top 100 singles in my 2009 list will differ a fair bit to the list I posted here early in the year. And like before, every song in these lists has full audio previewing.
Can I please get some feedback on the functionality of the player and jukebox on my site? I was told that the player didn't load properly in Google's Chrome browser and I was able to identify the problem and fix it. I've also been told that there might be issues with IE8. Thanks.
Definitely allowed savagegrant. You could even try Kesha-hating, Rihanna-hating and even Britney Spears-hating...maybe Nickelback-hating if you were up to it (Just using random names.) But most popular would be Bieber/Simpson-hating. Easily the two most popular here
Hey guys. I've now put the lists on my site into tables with ARIA stats (for the 1990 to 1996 lists so far) and highlighting of the Australian artists. Be sure to vote in my poll before it closes. There's only 2 days left and the 80's and 90's are leading with 5 votes each.
There's now 45 lists on my site. 40 personal top singles lists (for 1970 to 2009) and 5 ARIA end-of-year lists (for 2005 to 2009). In total there's over 4000 songs, all of which can be heard in full with streaming audio.
Over 9 months of work has gone into the site so far with many more ARIA lists to come!
sg, I looked at your site when it was first up, but unfortunately I haven't given it a look since then. Sorry, I will add it to my list of things to do as I remember at the time of checking that I thought it was cool and informative.
