Great to see Guy Sebastian, Flo Rida, Bruno Mars (JTWYA), James Blunt, Shayne Ward, Pink, Altiyan and Take That in there. Thats a lot more then I thought. Have to check out your #3 sometime. Last edited:
Thanks for all the positive comments about my chart. I'll admit I was feeling some trepidation with posting it. I'm so use to people ragging on my musical taste, that I'm often very protective of sharing my real thoughts on music I currently liked.
I know that thorughout the year there will be songs that I'll be bagged out for, but knowing that my first chart has been met with positives, I feel a lot more comfortable. The bestthing though is that The Time (Dirty Bit) just lost 1275 points from the ACW

I have Shayne's album on order from UK Amazon, and I look forward to hearing it in full.
Call Joe a guilty pleasure. There is just something incredibly great about Someone Wake Me Up. Perhaps I find it a good driving song, I just don't know. But Matt may still be able to climb up, who knows.

Well I had a look at One Direction Forever Young and TBH they don't really add anything unique to it (Jay Z for example added original raps) and although I don't hate it, after having Charted 3 Versions of the Track already on my Personal I'm reluctant to chart it.
The advantage that One Direction currently has with me is that they were (in the end) my pick to win The X Factor this year and their version would have been their winning song but it was never peformed on the show and it miraculously leaked about 15 minutes after they got eliminated, so it has that special factor of technically I shouldn't have it. LOL
The other advatange it has is that I personally think it is one ofthe better recorded cover versions of the the song. I find the Youth Group cover over praised and very boring. And I'm usually not a fan of rap songs borrowing a melody to have a hit. Plus Jay-Z's version came out way too soon after Youth Group for me to really care.
What do you mean I like country? There's only 2 songs? LOL. When you've spent half your life in the country music capital of Australia it ends up beating you down into submission and accpeting it. LOL. To be perfectly honest, with the way popular music has gone downhill, I often enjoy the fact that country songs are still capable of telling a story, something sadly missing from the majority of songs currently in the chart.
Considering Joe was at #8 earlier in the week and moved down while Matt was at #15 earlier in the week and moved up, there is a good chance that Matt can crack the Top 10 next week.
Nice to see Roxette and Enrique debut, I just find them OK for now but they might grow on me. Shame to see Take That's Flood falling, but Firework is OK. I checked out the One Direction Forever Young last week and didn't like it much unfortunately.
I'm currently in the process of back dating what would have been number one for a personal chart, all the way from 1992 to obviously 2011. Hopefully when I post 2010's results you will be happy with The Flood's run there and understand perhaps why it is dropping now.
I don't view Carrie's song as country but yes I suppose that she does technically raise the count to 3 (I totally forgot about her when I was counting). I view her song as just your typical movie ballad. And Mandy's songs from Tangled aren't country. But it depends on your view as what is country or not. The 2 Mandy songs are just typical Disney songs with a folk twist.
I think that's where definition of country comes into it. I viewed her Extraordinary efforts as more leaning towards a folk pop field. For me country needs to have a bit of a twang to it, which is missing from that particular album for me to say it was country. Jessica Simpson however definitely did a country album.
i'm happy to see chris brown enter and lea michele's don't cry for me argentina - i love her version but the version i have of it intertwines her vocals with chris's and it doesn't sound right. have u got a version that is just her by herself billybrett?
alleyt the two solo versions of Don't Cry For Me Argentina are on iTunes. Where did you get the duet version from? It's not on Australian iTunes.
Shayne Ward benefits this week from the multiple listens his CD got over the week. It is quite a good album, pity Sony has no interest in promoting him here. He could at least see some middle of the range Top 50 success I reckon.
You can thank Sunrise for seeming to play it at least once a day as they go to or come back from an ad break the last week for his debut anton. I'm not a gerneral fan of the man of his music. Forever is the only song of his I like, so for Yeah 3X to make an appearance is quite an honour for him lol
Good to see Mandy Moore going well. I liked some of her past hits, so must check out those. Quite a few here I don't know but I like Firework, Higher, Stay The Night, Yeah 3X and We R Who We R. Hold It Against Me and Hollywood is slowly growing on me. Loved Pet Shop Boys older stuff, but yet to adapt to Together.

Hope is not over yet for Obsession, just cause it's down this week doesn't mean it is on the way out. Gotta Be Somebody benefits from being on my iPod and also charting in South Africa, so in a way it benefits from having a level of promotion behind it. Whereas Obsession isn't an official single yet, so there is nothing there to remind about it apart from my chart and you lol. It won't be going any way soon. It is safe for this week, and may in fact see some movement up.
I've tried to resist Happiness as it is rather plain, but all week it has been in my head and the chorus is damn catchy. Sure I'm slow in charting it, but better late than never.
Summer Rain is bloody awesome, but it's not going to be a hit in Australia it's not slutty or beat heavy. It reminds me of Hugh Sheridan's music (with stronger vocals) mixed with Michael Buble's music.
And what can I say about Don't You Want Me. I didn't realise a cheesy song could be made extra cheesy and still be awesome.
Glee songs and Happiness? None of the debuts are for me. However the comparison to Hugh Sheridan has me slightly intrigued. Maybe I'll check it out. I'd actually just assumed it was a cover of the well known Summer Rain.
Edit: I listened, and it's not bad at all. I wouldn't call it non-slutty though, after all he says he wouldn't care if a thousand people were watching him have sex on a rooftop. Last edited:
No one was meant to notice that BZ lol. I admit that I used the term slutty very carelessly, what I was trying to convey with use of slutty was that the idea of the song doesn't rely on the f word, or the current obsession of music to just sing solely about sex without the connotation that it is for love, something that Summer Rain to me strongley implies that the person is actually in love with the other person.
I'm glad someone admitted they thought it was a cover of Belinda Carlisle's Summer Rain. Apart from the singer, this song has nothing to do with Glee. It's from his debut album and is an original tune (as BZ discovered) Last edited:
Price Tag is a mixed bag with me, I only heard it for the first time this week and due to the 'borrowing' of the chorus to Fuckin' Perfect, it has stuck in my head for most of the week. Who knows what it will do with my chart, it could move up, stay stagnant or drop. Depending on my mood and what else is released.
excellent to see glee hold on to #1 but i am very happy to see landslide score biggest debut! such a great cover (although it's hard to do that song wrong). nice to see get it right debut too so hopefully that can continue going up! nice to see britney move up to #3 and don't you want me enter the top ten too!
Nice debut for Take That, good jumps for Glee song I can stand #1 (Loser Like Me), Mauboy, Olly Murs and Glee song I can stand #2 (Summer Rain). Or is Summer Rain not one of the original songs from the show, and completely unrelated? Either way, I don't mind it at all. Lol at the three versions of There's A Place For Us, all in a row.
Summer Rain is completely unrelated to Glee. The only connection is that the singer appears on the show. Summer Rain is the debut single for Matthew Morrison, and if it ever charted in Australia for real it would be accredited to him and not to the generic Glee Cast. The other original song from Glee is the Get It Right song. You probably wouldn't like it BZ as it is sang by the 'horrible' lead actress as a solo.
Well, I don't actually mind her too much on Loser Like Me (except for during that awful bridge, but I attribute that to how awful that part of the song is, not her specifically) so I'm willing to give it a chance. Glee might be dead to me as far as all their covers go, but I'm going to keep an open mind about their originals. I certainly won't judge Get It Right before I hear it.
Great to see Matthew Morrison jump to the top, I'd say it's my favourite of your #1's this year, though I didn't hear the Tangled song yet. Good moves also for Olly Murs, Michael Buble, Loser Like Me, Jessica Mauboy, Get It Right, Take That and Take That. Liking the debuts for Avril and Fry Day, and will probably like Blue too, and even Britney's is kind of growing on me.
Nice to see Katy Perry debut this week and a nice jump for Loser Like Me, Get It Right, Landslide and What Happened To US. Perhaps we might have a new number one next week! I'm most excited about the album chart, I love that top three. The Glee soundtrack is excellent but I LOVE Enya's Greatest Hits, and I'm eagerly anticipating Britney's album, but I refuse to buy it until it comes out in a proper case and not the cardboard one.
I have re-discovered Enya's Greatest Hits, after not listening to it since it was released. Such great medleys and a nice diversion from current music. I hesitated in charting Enya on the singles charts since it is from her 2009 album, but I thought why the hell not.
ET is slowly growing on me, after disliking it on its initial release. I think I was too in love with Firework to give ET any due credit.
Maybe it's the influence of listening to Enya, but I'm being drawn more and more to the ballads that are out at the moment. So nice to hear a song whose sole person isn't to get the dancfloor pumping.
Britney's new album is probably the first one that I have thought every song fitted on the album. It doesn't sound like any thing is filler wise. Not that everything can be released as a song, but at the moment there is nothing I would skip.
I agree about Enya her Greatest Hits is a nice change and is really calming and soothing (I just reviewed it a couple of weeks ago and I really enjoyed listening to it for the first time properly in a very long time!)
I'm the same with ET. It only peaked at #11 on the chart (her three previous singles reaching #1). It's alright but I don't think it has anything on her previous singles. The video is cool though.
I've heard good things about Britney's album from most people so will definitely need to check it out!
Shame to see Better Than Today dropping out. Loser Like Me is an OK number one, but I prefer Get It Right out of the two original songs. Nice jumps for Jess Mauboy and Britney, as well as a little rise for MJ. Nice chart
Regarding Taio's song the radio version is so much better than the soundtrack version. But it does remind me of another song, which at the moment I can't recall which one it is.
I've been listening to a whole bunch of albums I haven't had time to sit down and listen to since I've been on holidays and I re-discovered Ambitions. But that won't help explain it as I know how much you dislike little Joe. But it does explain Britney's success on my chart this week. I have been playing it at least once a day this week.
J-Lo actually benefits from the song that debuted at #22. Both are very similar.
Nice debuts for Nicole Scherzinger and NKOTBSB, and good to see GaGa back. I didn't think much of the Weird Al parody though, while it may have been accurate it asn't particularly witty, funny or cutting. Great top three once again, and good to see Avril in the top ten now.
@BZ - I admit that Wierd Al's new one doesn't sound like its going to be a classic but the fact that someone has had the balls to tell it like it is in a public fashion gets points for me. Plus he gets extra bonus for the hilarious story of GaGa's team denying approval without running it past the Lady herself
@crazychris - Weird Al's parody has helped with GaGa's original re-entering this week but the major factor is the suckiness of Judas has made me realise how good Born This Way is in comparison
@alleyt - You could call me a casual fan of Adele, I don't actively play her songs, but I will listen to them if they come onto my ipod or the radio or tv. I will admit to liking Someone Like You more than Rolling In The Deep. RITD reminds me of another song that I can't put my finger on, so it stops me from enjoying it.
Jebediah's new song is really growing on me. Usually I can stand the lead singer's whiny, immature sounding voice. But then I only discovered last week that the guy in Jebediah that I always thought looked a bit feminine was actually a girl. All these years, I thought they were all male. How embarrassment.
Thanks for the kind words about #30 anton, I honestly thought I would get lots of What The Hell Is That? or What Drugs Are You On? responses, so it's nice that the first acknowledge of the song is a positive. There is just something so calm and peaceful about the song that is resonating with me at the moment. Probaly cause so much of ARIA is filled with obnoxious noise.
I expect Perform This Way to move up more, as I introduced the song to my senior classes this week and seeing their response has made me love Al's version more.
BZ - Expect bigger jumps for Nicoel and Good Charlotte next week, seems my radio station has discovered the new music. LOL
Alley - Glad you like my #1, it was a close call this week.
I hope Wild At Heart can return then. I haven't heard that Take That song yet, but good to see it debut anyway. Nice jumps for GaGa, NKOTBSB, Good Charlotte and Nicole Scherzinger, and a nice top three once more.
Love Love is a totally brand new track, that I stumbled across looking at the Irish Chart. It is the theme song for the new X-Men film. The director asked Gary to bring in some unused Take That songs and the director chose Love Love as the song. It only premiered on 11th June at some Movie Award Show. I'm hoping that the movie can help Take That have some charting success again.
Great to see Britney still at #1. Hmmm not a fan of either Glee entries, I felt like As If We Never Said Goodbye was way too long, and when I watch that episode (I LOVE the episode) I always fast forward that song!!! Born This Way underwhelmed me, but I REALLY love the original so... What about I Feel Pretty/Unpretty?
I've always had a soft spot for AIWNSG. I love it's use in Sunset Boulevard. And I felt it was incorporated very well into the plot of Glee this week. They actually chose a song that fitted the plot as opposed to writing a plot to fit the song. Which goes for all the songs they used in that episode, even Born This Way.
The mashup was like Wild At Heart, just missed out and is knocking on the door to enter. Perhaps with some more listens it will get there.
Sad to see I Feel Pretty/Unpretty drop off but I kind of don't mind the Linkin Park track! Yay for Olivia Newton-John although I haven't heard that particular mix yet!!! OMG I feel so behind with Hollywood tonight, I only heard it for the first time last week - it's not a bad track!
Great to see debuts for Adele, GaGa and Pitbull. I really like all three songs. The new Shania one isn't too bad either. Good jumps for Simple Plan, Kylie Minogue, Good Charlotte, Linkin Park and Take That.
Debut #1 is a piano piece that charted in the UK the other week. Apparently caused by some DJ playing it to show his listeners what calmed him during his studies for EOY exams. I listened and liked. Debut #2 is from the soundtrack to Cars 2, while debut #3 is from the latest interpretation of Winnie-The-Pooh from Disney.
Happy to see Jet Lag and The Edge Of Glory up, as well as SLY moving in the right direction (although ever so slightly). Interesting to see GME debut last week and jumping this week. Better late than never is my theory
Great to see Wilson Phillips debut, that's just a fantastic track. Also nice to see Foo Fighters debut and Glee Marry You re-enter. That's one of about two or three Glee covers I like more than the original.
Nice to see Jet Lag up to two, I hope it can grab #1. Also good jumps for Linkin Park, Take That, The Edge Of Glory, Pitbull and Adele.
I wasn't going to chart Hold On, but since it has re-entered the ARIA Top 100 this week I thought why the hell not. It's so great it deserves to chart in 2011.
I actually heard Bruno's version of Marry You today on the radio and I thought, wow Glee really does improve this song so much. So I decided it was time for Glee to re-enter, if I'm going to have to hear Marry You, I prefer it to be Glee.
It's a tough fight at the moment for #1 so anything is possible BZ.
