IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 2/1/12 Edition No.112 Songs retire at 75 weeks
Waitress easily on top still, with Taking Back Sunday awaiting #1 takeover at second spot. It may have to wait quite a while, because I can't see an end in sight to Boy's run. The Rubens have the first entry for the new year, entering at 3 ahead of a second entry for Boy at 4. Trial Kennedy launch into the top 20 with 'Exology'.
ENTRIES: It's just so nice, 'Lay It Down' by The Rubens at 3. Their second entry, 'Little Numbers' by Boy at 4. Their third entry, 'Skin' by Boy at 23. Taken a while but it's finally made it, 'Got It All (This Can't Be Living Now)' by Portugal. The Man at 33. Funny-looking lead singer is funny-looking, 'Dreams (Never Come True)' by Fort Lean at 45. Probably deserves a higher spot than this but oh well, 'Brother' by Matt Corby at 65. Relatable, 'So American' by Portugal. The Man at 72. Coming up with their fourth entry, and no it's not Boy , 'Houdini' by Foster The People at 87. Sneaking in at 96 is 'Blood Pressure' by MuteMath.
MAINSTREAM: Kelly Clarkson equals the record of 3 weeks on top with 'Mr. Know It All' in a week of little movement.

Hmm, if The Rubens is what I think it is, I'm still struggling to get into it. But I do know and love the Portugal. The Man songs, and of course Foster the People & Matt Corby. Awesome jump for Trial Kennedy too, but what's Death Cab doing in the bubblers?, is old
I've got nothing, except that I had a random idea that I should eventually change the list of artists I am a 'fan' of on this site so that each of them must have over 250 plays on my lastie. Good idea?

IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 9/1/12 Edition No.113 Songs retire at 75 weeks
I'll admit that the gap was much smaller this week, but Boy's track 'Waitress' remains on top for a fourth consecutive week, matching the similar run on top 'Jamie, My Intentions Are Bass' had this time last year. Never fear for Boy's competition, because it's another track of theirs, 'Little Numbers' that rises to second. They also jump to 9 with 'Skin' while Art vs. Science and Portugal. The Man also bullet into the top 20.
ENTRIES: I'm getting into it as of late but somehow I've only played it five times, 'Sexual Lifestyle' by Strange Talk at 47. Opening track that does the opposite of what KOL does with opening track names, 'This Is The Beginning' by Boy at 78. Second entry, 'Beach Holiday' by Fort Lean at 87. Yes, I'm late, but I feel silly not to chart it, it's also their second entry, 'You Are A Tourist' by Death Cab For Cutie at 98.
MAINSTREAM: No change at the top with Kelly Clarkson now holding the record on her own, with four weeks on top. It's not necessarily a great record to have, because she just can't push through to the Bubbling Under just yet.

Nice to see Waitress Boy remaining on top, since it's the only Boy song I know, I hope it holds off the others. Great jumps for Portugal The Man, Faker and Foster The People.
Surprised (and happy) to see Nicole Scherzinger rebounding. Also glad to see Lana Del Rey & Beyonce rising. Solid mainstream chart, I'd be happy to see any of them promoted.
I soon find out if I make it into Uni, but as any non-holiday stuff goes, that's about as interesting as it gets

IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 16/1/12 Edition No.114 Songs retire at 75 weeks
It was hard to separate this week, but Boy replaces itself on top with 'Little Numbers' ahead of 'Waitress'. The Rubens spend their third week at #3 lulz, but time will whether they can push into the top two or not. The Black Keys make a bullet into fourth spot, and Boy continue their domination with six tracks inside the top 20.
ENTRIES: A beautiful acoustic track from them, 'Drive Darling' by Boy at 11. They also enter at 16 with 'Army'. With their third album 'Monument' coming in April, Children Collide make a claim to add to their list of 3 #1s. It's also their tenth entry to date, 'Sword To A Gunfight' at 25. An awesome irregular beat on this, 'Blue Stripes' by The Drums at 60. Boy also enter at 84 with 'Railway' and at 93 with 'Waltz For Pony'.
MAINSTREAM: My main compromise to my weekly charts while I'm overseas has to be my Mainstream chart, with very little change this week as Kelly Clarkson hangs on for a fifth week on top.

I don't know the new #1 TRASH! obviously. Also I could be wrong, but didn't that Children Collide song debut this morning?! I've given it about 5 listens in the past half an hour and it hasn't grabbed me yet apart from a cool bass line. That being said it's the only debut I know. Cool to see Trial Kennedy in the top 10 and jumps for Portugal. The Man, Foster the People & Owl Eyes.

It's sad to see a song I don't know be on top, but a run of only four weeks for Waitress is less than six, so I can still not irrationally hate it, yay! I presumably know and like the Drums debut if it's on Portamento, but I couldn't pick it out of a line-up. I dunno the rest though. Nice jumps for Portugal The Man and Foster The People too.
Most of this week's chart was compiled above the Pacific Ocean, true story

IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 23/1/12 Edition No.115 Songs retire at 75 weeks
I'm back in Australia, and 'Waitress' is back at #1 for a fifth week. 'Little Numbers' falls to third spot behind a huge rise for 'Drive Darling' at #2, meaning that Boy occupy the entire top three of the chart - an unprecedented achievement. Young The Giant and Children Collide make up the rest of the top five with new peaks.
ENTRIES: So Children Collide have a new song out / album coming soon, and now the same can be said for White Rabbits. Franz, I'm looking at you It's 'Heavy Metal' by White Rabbits at 9. Cute track that is not a cover somehow, 'Evie' by Cub Scouts at 34. Their third entry already, 'High Definition' by Fort Lean at 64. Also their third entry, but it was a lot longer between their first and second entries, 'Underneath The Sycamore' by Death Cab For Cutie at 96. The fifth debut of the week comes from Millions at 97 with 'Guru'.
MAINSTREAM: Some change to the chart this week, with Kelly Clarkson moving on to promotion and David Guetta re-entering. This places 360 back on top with 'Boys Like You' for its second week.

Sad to see Kasabian leave but cool to see White Rabbits in for a debut. Great rises for Children Collide, Amy Meredith, Those Dancing Days and Metronomy .
Yay, Cough Syrup is the highest relevant song Nice rises for Children Collide, Trial Kennedy, The Mission In Motion, Portugal. The Man, Foster The People, Owl Eyes & Death Cab. The idea of a Shardinay cover amuses me too, so go Boy Oh Boy
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 30/1/12 Edition No.116 Songs retire at 75 weeks
If there's anyone that shouldn't have anything to complain about, it's Boy. While 'Drive Darling' is denied top spot, 'Waitress' hangs on for its sixth week. It's equal with the record set by 'Fuckarias' now. Can it hang on for another week ? Also, Owl Eyes bullets into the top five randomly without any rational explanation.
ENTRIES: H100 entry #1, 'Midnight City' by M83 at 11. Very catchy track that I first heard in Mexico, 'Met Before' by Chairlift at 17. H100 entry #2 and their second overall iirc, 'Awkward' by San Cisco at 25. NOT a Shardinay cover, it's actually very lovely, 'Oh Boy' by Boy at 43. I've always found it weird that Metronomy had two #1s but no other entries, so here we go, 'Everything Goes My Way' at 92. Rounding out the entries is The Drums with their fifth entry overall, 'How It Ended' at 96.
MAINSTREAM: 360 and Gossling are promoted, with Lana Del Rey entering at number one.

MAINSTREAM CHART: Rules: 1. In UK/USA/NZ/AUS charts 2. may eventually retire and enter Bubbling (Promotion) 3. songs from Bubbling or chart are ineligible
6 weeks at #1? That's crazy talk. But omfg epic yayz at the other non Boy new peaks in the top 5. In fact Metronomy have the only real notable rise elsewhere that I feel like I can comment on. Midnight City, Met Before, Awkward & How It Ended are varying levels of kewlness but the lack of Shardinay cover status saddens me.
Great to see all the Beyonce, GaGa and Scherzinger in your chart. Loving the mainstream success on the chart as well. Other good appearances from Benny Benassi, Adele and RIHANNA! Rihanna! Did I just read Rihanna. Wow things have changed. lol. But it is a really good chart now-a-days. Also good to see the bottom 4 songs on your mainstream chart. Hopefully Kelly gets onto the chart from the bubbling under list, and hopefully the other Kelly charts on the main chart too. Really good chart though.
A-whaaaa? I believe I mentioned that six weeks on top was when I had to start hating completely rationally. I'd give you a seventh week of grace, but you did give STIUTK only one week on top, plus Faces randomly scores a new peak and is higher again. So ewwww! Nice debuts for M83, The Drums, Chairlift and especially San Cisco. Lonely Boy for #1!
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 6/2/12 Edition No.117 Songs retire at 75 weeks
If mankind has discovered anything, there are really only two things in the universe that are actually 'good'. One of these is music, and the other is food. As such, when one listens to a song written about food, it seems somewhat overindulgent. However, the means involved in obtaining a food item (or items) is seen as more of a journey, and therefore more suitable for songwriting material. Many methods exist for obtaining food, one of which is by means of a waiter or waitress. This is clearly the reason that 'Waitress' by Boy is number one, and this is its seventh week on top - giving the Swiss-German journey-loving duo the sole record for this chart.
Without a face, a person is faceless. Who wants to be faceless? well, I see no hands up so I'll assume no-one does. To demonstrate this desire is Owl Eyes with 'Faces', which rises to #2 above 'Drive Darling', presumably because many people suggest that women can't drive very well. The Black Keys surely did not receive the memo, because Boy are clearly not lonely at the present time - all but one of the tracks on their album is on the chart this week. Still though, their meaningless ode 'Lonely Boy' falls to 4 this week, with The Rubens jumping into the top 5.
In a chart context, a song that performs well generally sees little numbers in its run. Hence the 4-2-1-3-4-6 run for 'Little Numbers' by Boy is clearly appropriate, depending on what one's definition of little is, of course. Nearby, White Rabbits' song with a poorly described title is up, and Young The Giant's medicinal requirements are losing effect. Boy's army of songs continue to perform well with 'Army' at 9. Riding an elevator is generally an exciting experience, and Otis Elevator Company is the largest producer of elevators in the world - hence, the elevator-dedicated 'Otis' by Kanye West & Jay-Z rises to 10.
If you are reading this chart and plan on commenting on the rises, consider this section before you do so. Well, I'm not going to tell you what songs rise, because that'd be cheating. However, the songs outside the top 10 that don't fall and don't stay steady include 'Evie', 'Met Before', 'Railway', 'Oh Boy', 'So American', 'Video Games', 'Back When Solvents', 'Houdini', 'How It Ended', 'Call It What You Want', 'Underneath The Sycamore', 'Waltz For Pony', 'My Eagle', 'Hello Hello', 'Raiders', 'Child Bearing Hips', 'Everything Goes My Way' and 'Guru'.
ENTRIES: With their 10th entry to date is Boy with their belated or premature (does anyone know?) track 'July' at 19. Some people on this site criticise themselves for being late on certain songs. It's safe to say I'm late all the time with many songs, 'Boys Like You' by 360 ft. Gossling is one prime example at 29. They're supporting a band I'm seeing soon, 'Follow Me Down' by The Charge at 31. If the Kanye West-Taylor Swift incident a while back taught us anything, it's that artists shouldn't diss other artists. That being said, many do and they are often perceived as 'gangstas'. The Vasco Era reveal their inner gangsta with 'Every Boy Is The Same' re-entering at 53. As I've already mentioned, lateness is a trait of mine, and I'm about 13,773,600 seconds late on this one, 'Mr. Know It All' by Kelly Clarkson by 89. A counter-revolutionary stance is to do with one that opposes a revolution, as the name suggests. The Delta Riggs are clearly opposing the Boy revolution with their track 'Counter Revolution' at 92, and become the third artist this week to spite Boy this week after the efforts of The Black Keys and The Vasco Era. When I went to the US, some roads were made of white concrete as opposed to black tarmac. It then comes with great confusion as to the legitimacy of Boy's claim that grey-coloured thoroughfares exist. Still, their 11th entry 'Silver Streets' enters at 94.
MAINSTREAM: Lana Del Rey is promoted and Snoop Dogg/friends and David Guetta/friend leave, with Grouplove and The Jezabels jumping into the top two spots. Hilltop Hoods enter too. But I don't really care.

Nice rises for Owl Eyes, Portugal. The Man, Lana Del Rey, Foster The People & Children Collide (My Eagle), I wouldn't mind seeing everything in your bubbling under chart.
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then how should one feel about the imitation of an imitation? Is it still flattery? Whatever it is, that's how I feel about your commentary.
It's gotta be better than how I feel about the icky top of your chart, ewwww for seven weeks on top and EWWW for Faces at another new peak. I'd say don't let it get #1, but the alternative is probably an eighth week for Waitress Boy, and you're probably only doing this to spite me, it's not like anyone could genuinely like those songs that much, especially when STIUTK is dropping away again.
Boys Like You is weirdly my favourite debut. And obviously the secret to success on your chart is using "Boy" in your name, or having a song about "boys". Is there something you're not telling us???
Maybe I need to give the #1 another chance. But speaking of another chance's, you can't tease me with it, Faces neeeeeeds to get to #1 now Alternatively Roger Sanchez, which is only slightly sillier. Also go So American! And Video Games! And Houdini! And Call It What You Want! And Raiders! That commentary was helpful Get Sleigh Bells into the chart, and the mainstream chart seems decidedly unmainstream atm
Great to see Kanye / Jay Z, Lana Del Rey and Foster The People (CIWYW) rising, plus debuts for Kelly Clarkson & 360. Hopefully Lana Del Rey can crack the main chart next week.
Wow I forgot how out of sync our musical tastes are. It takes until #49 to find a song that I would be happy to sit through completely regardless of mood. LOL
For those of you who may not know, I'm now housebound in the midst of recuperating from jaw surgery I had midweek. Initially I thought it would change my chart completely, but it kinda didn't
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 13/2/12 Edition No.118 Songs retire at 75 weeks
This song has been number one through a transitional phase in my life, debuting just after my final Year 12 exams, and staying on top throughout my holiday to America, despite 'Little Numbers' being given one week on top last month. And now it's persisting through my recovery as well. Time will tell whether 'Waitress' by Boy, now in its eighth week on top, will be able to continue its record-smashing run. The top three surprisingly remains the same, with The Black Keys tumbling to 6 and The Rubens and White Rabbits pushing up one spot and two spots respectively.
Also, 'My Eagle' by Children Collide retires after its 75th week. An amazing run with five weeks on top.
ENTRIES: Sure, some member(s?) of Stonefield are younger than me, but Sahara Beck is too, and her track 'Smile In The Dark' enters at 10. Maybe I shouldn't be entering it this high, but anyway, their second entry, Sleigh Bells with 'Comeback Kid' at 19. Their second entry, 'Cowboy Song' by The Rubens at 46. It was destined for an entry a while ago so here it is, 'Born To Die' by Lana Del Rey at 49.Two debuts in one week for The Rubens with 'My Gun' at 72. Closing out the entries is Death Cab For Cutie with 'Stay Young, Go Dancing', their fourth entry overall, at 95.
MAINSTREAM: In a week that sees both Grouplove and The Jezabels earn promotion, Hilltop Hoods take top spot ahead of Jessie J.

MAINSTREAM CHART: Rules: 1. In UK/USA/NZ/AUS charts 2. may eventually retire and enter Bubbling (Promotion) 3. songs from Bubbling or chart are ineligible
The 'diversity' at the top of the chart reminds me of my lastie charts, speaking of which, get Faces to #1 Or Video Games would be an excellent alternative. Awesome Sleigh Bells debut too. Though you have a bigger chart than I do, it seems weird that you've now charted Love My Name as long as I have.
Jaw surgery? Wow. Hope your recovery goes well. I don't know what chart changes you were expecting, but lol. It reminds me that I once had a dream where I awoke from a coma and suddenly liked all the music I used to loathe. Great jumps for Lana Del Rey, Foster The People, San Cisco and Matt Corby. You indeed shouldn't have entered Comeback Kid so high, even higher would be better! Make Comeback Kid or Video Games the next #1! Nice to also see Born To Die finally in there.
Apart from that, I should go listen to new White Rabbits considering I loved that one song (Percussion Gun); I can't say I find new Sleigh Bells appealing, despite my love for the first album; also, yay, that fun. could make your chart next week!
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 20/2/12 Edition No.119 Songs retire at 75 weeks
I held off charting it last week, and this past 7 days have been insane. I don't think I've ever played a song more than a dozen times before charting it, but my new number one has been played 73!!!!!!!!!!!!! times this week, including 45 in the one night. Not even 'Waitress' by Boy, the eight-week number one, could possibly get near 'Steam' this week by Deep Sea Arcade, which becomes the band's second consecutive track to debut at #1 and their fourth #1 overall. In other news, The Drums make a huge move to third behind 'Steam' and 'Waitress'.
ENTRIES: The program of the same name has annoyed me greatly in the past, and it wasn't even to facilitate the use of a game for me! Nonetheless, I'm hoping my opinion of the song doesn't get dragged down by the fact that the program sucks, rather I'm hoping my opinion of the game will improve given the song rocks. Long story short, it's their 8th entry, 7th top 5 hit and 4th #1. 'Steam' by Deep Sea Arcade enters at 1. I saw 'Safe House' during the week and it was enough to chart this track, 'No Church In The Wild' enters by Kanye West & Jay-Z featuring Frank Ocean at 35. I should have an insightful comment to make but I don't, 'We Are Young' by Fun. featuring Janelle Monae at 40. Still don't like that random verse, 'Tongue Tied' by Grouplove at 51. A surprise entry for me, 'Hold On' by SBTRKT featuring Sampha at 66. It'll take a while to grow on me but here it is at 94, 'Love Interruption' by Jack White at 94. Fun track, 'Why Don't We Do Something?' by Hey Geronimo at 95. I'm adamant now that it's the worst track off the album, but now that it's charted, the whole album has! Yippee! Well, I'm not going to chart acoustic versions of things so shush , 'Boris' by Boy at 96. Here's hoping it's not Boy's last ever entry.
MAINSTREAM: In a weird week, Hilltop Hoods are promoted and Skrillex rockets to top spot.

How can I approve of a song that I've only heard once and don't quite remember? I've at least heard Waitress Boy a few times But ooh for Chairlift in the top 10, and the monstrous jump for the LDR song. Can I pretend that the bottom of the chart is irrelevant? I will. Yay I like all the debuts, even if (with the exception of Fun.) none of them are my favourites from their respective albums, I do affirmedly like them all!
First thing I have to say is you listened to a song 73 times in a week is the song really that good? maybe I should listen to it 100 times in a day could I do it we'll find out aNYway great to see The Black keys that's a song I probably listened to 73 times in a week but I didn't count but it could be more than that. Also good to see Foster the people still high up and Otis still in there good chart overall a lot of songs I never heard of i'll try and listen to all those songs one time in the week or even 73 times
Yay for a new #1. Steam was decent. And since I have to irrationally hate Waitress Boy for some reason even though I charted it, I'm glad to see it off #1. Great jumps for The Drums and Lana and nice to see the debuts of Fun and Grouplove.
First day at Uni today, what a lovely day for it too
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 27/2/12 Edition No.120 Songs retire at 75 weeks
'You want it, you want it, yeah come and get it' stays on top for a second week. 'I don't know where you ran to, I'll always be right here' moves to a new peak of #2. 'For a thing to explode, a light to go on' falls to third after 10 weeks in the top two. 'You're running out of time, you're running out of time' makes a huge jump to fourth. 'Take off your shoes now, you've come a long way' rounds out the top five.
ENTRIES: 'CHEWGOTCHAGOLDMACHINEGUNRATATATATATATA', 9. 'So deluded, you think they're writing songs just for you', 18. 'I went walking in the woods today', 19. 'They wanna get my...', 31. 'We'll be glowing in the dark', 48. 'You came home for the endless summer', 87.
MAINSTREAM: Rihanna moves to #1 with a retirement for Skrillex.

I didn't know that Steam took lyrical stylings from Dukes of Windsor, or at least that's what the lyrics reminded me of. But now I'm curious of your top debut, I don't think I've heard a song reference Pokemon like that before Excellent debuts for Coldplay & The Jezabels, and the Husky debut is ok too I guess. Good rises for Children Collide, Yuksek, JayYe & Teeds. Go Hilltop, Ladyhawke, M.I.A., Skrillex, The Getaway Plan & White Rabbits for debuts!
Nice to see debuts for The Black Keys, Coldplay and The Jezabels. I'm not feeling much in the way of rises this week, so instead I'll support some possible debuts for Skrillex, Hilltop Hoods, Ladyhawke and The Getaway Plan. Also, your team names could have been soooooo much cooler.
Wow you started university last week I wonder what you are studying I remember you told me in the last life I was a cat and you were a dog I think it was something naughty you will be a big broadway star some day. Well now I am going to talk about your chart you have the same number one as last week your number one is my oh wait I still haven't heard the song yet but on rage I did see one of their songs I have to try and remember what it was oh yeah it was Don't be sorry and my cousin Ira thought it was the Monkees or was it the Beatles well it was one of the those bands from the 60's I should really get into their new song if it does sound like the Dukes of Windsor I really like that song it's a war it was a No.1 hit on my chart and when I was the No.1 song predictor I predicted it to be No.1 after that the song never made the top 50. Well I am rambling on again back to you chart most of the songs on your chart I never heard of that will be 85% of your chart what is the drums oh wait I know one song come on I wanna go surfing oh come on I only care about surfin great song to whistle to and my cousin Ira thought it was the Beatles again Good to see Lonely boy still in your top 20 hopefully it shoots back to No.1 then we might share the same No.1 and Otis is still in there half the year already. Good luck with your University studies and after you will be big on broadway in no time I work for a big broadway producer Maxwell Sheffield I'm his Nanny
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 5/3/12 Edition No.121 Songs retire at 75 weeks
I've never met Stephen Patterson, Ed MacFarlane, Eddie Vedder, Dylan Mills, Ezra Koenig, Alex Trimble, Brendan Wixted, Lily Allen, Nic McKenzie, Andrew VanWyngarden, Taylor Rice, Michael Angelakos, Shawn Carter, Charles Haddon, Michael Tomlinson, Sally Seltmann, Alex Kapranos, Ed Droste, Johnny Mackay, Amandah Wilkinson, Alister Wright, Daniel Sanders, Megan Washington, Nic Offer, Corey Marriott, Caleb Followill, Linnea Jönsson, Dave Grohl, Li Lykke Timotej Zachrisson, Pete Spiker, Adele Adkins, Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III, Joseph Mount, Adam Lazzara, Kanye West, Dusty Anastassiou, Wally De Backer or Valeska Steiner, but I have met Ashley Jones, lead singer of The Charge, who are #1 this week with 'Follow Me Down'.
ENTRIES: Huge debut for Teeds at 8 with 'Households'. Long-titled debut for The Charge at 18 with 'Together We Can Make A Difference'. Out-of-place debut for M.I.A. at 28 with 'Bad Girls'. Late debut for Teeds at 33 with 'Trouble'. Get Up Kids-like debut for Choir Of Young Believers at 39 with 'Patricia's Thirst'. New peak / re-entry for Gotye at 41 with 'Easy Way Out'. Another awesome new one from Teeds at 47 with 'Tapes & Money'. Omg, it's Skrillex, you read that right, at 71 with 'Bangarang'. Shouldn't be this low but 'tis, 'Voodoo Love' by The Charge at 95. Heavy drums much?, 'Hollywood Forever Cemetery Song's Annoying And Painful To Type Out' by Father John Misty at 96. It's a challenge to type the above track in the space of listening to this song, probably, 'Trounce' by Jonathan Boulet at 98. And because I'm a late penguin, 'In Colour' by Hunting Grounds at 99.
MAINSTREAM: Ed Sheeran, who is in the NZ chart with 'Lego House', enters at #1 with that very track, kicking out Christina Perri in the process.

Father John Misty Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings Choir Of Young Believers Patricia's Thirst! Oh and the Hunting Grounds/Skrillex/M.I.A. things just to exhaust my knowledge of debuts. I guess I could say Gotye too, but that doesn't count as a debut But huzzah for a new peak for Video Games! As well as KanZank, SBTRKT, Grouplove, and Owl Eyes for the hell of it even though it's not even close to a new peak Also go Friendly Fires, Grouplove, Ladyhawke, Shearwater and that mysterious song that is ACTUALLY my #41
Great to see Video Gaes up, although most of my favourites drop this week, including We Are Young I am pleased to see Lego House debut strongly on your mainstream chart. I don't like Talk That Talk, but the other three tracks are good. Hopefully Hilltop Hoods / Sia can debut soon.
Nice re-entry for Gotye and good to see Bangarang in there. Hopefully Lego House can get in soon, like tomorrow maybe? Surprised to see DSA off top already, perhaps your insane overplay has exhausted it? Nice jumps for Lana Del Rey and Hannah featuring The Rest Of Grouplove.

IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 12/3/12 Edition No.122 Songs retire at 75 weeks
The Charge stay on top with the rocking 'Follow Me Down' for a second week, with the top 3 remaining the same. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs equal their highest ever peak with 'Household Goods' up to 4, whilst Lana Del Rey achieves her highest ever peak with 'Video Games' up to 5.
ENTRIES: I have no idea why I haven't charted this yet, 'Hurting' by Friendly Fires at 20. This one is also belated, Radiohead's second ever entry with 'Feral' at 59. A great period for them at present, 'Dream On' by Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs at 86. Haven't heard what it samples yet but whatever, 'Why I Love You' by Kanye West & Jay-Z ft. Mr. Hudson at 89. Ladyhawke's second entry, 'Black White & Blue' at 98. Yukon Blonde's first with 'Stairway' at 99. And it probably won't last long, 'Love Will Save Your Soul' by Grouplove at 100.
MAINSTREAM: Ed Sheeran is promoted with 'Lego House' and enters ' You Need Me, I Don't Need You', but it's Rihanna and Jay-Z who claim top spot for a second week.

Ah Deep Sea Arcade is no longer number one just when I started enjoying that song oh wait I still haven't listened to it yet I was thinking of another song. Hopefully Black, White and Blue storms up your chart because 98 is way too low for such an amazing song much better than the overrated My Delirium. Her second best song so far right behind Magic. Anyway interesing chart overall bye see you in 3 months just kidding I will be here FOREVER only if you want me to
So I've heard the #1 now. But I can't remember how it goes. In fact I struggle on the #2 as well, and I've heard that several times. I do remember Steam though, maybe that should be at #1 instead on that basis, as all charts should follow Actually if Video Games is still rising, get that at #1.
Good rises for Chairlift, Yuksek, Grouplove, San Cisco, Gotye, Kan-Z, Owl Eyes, The Jezabels, (what H100 related thing did I miss? ) & Father John Misty. Huzzah for the Friendly Fires song with the uncanny Maroon 5-similarity (I don't care if it's just me ), the Radiohead song I don't remember well but I assume it's one of the weird ones, Ladyhawke & Grouplove, love, looooooooooove.
Great to see Lana Del Rey and Fun both rising, but most of my favourites drop this week. Not a big fan of Talk That Talk, as it is basically Rude Boy V2,0, and version one wasn't that good haha. I do however love that Lego House got promoted so quickly. Hopefully it will crack the main chart very soon.
Nice debuts for Grouplove, and I suppose also the Maroon 5 soundalike song I haven't heard but might now actually bother to hear. I hope it isn't ancient if that's an apt comparison. Good jumps for Lana Del Rey, Grouplove, San Cisco, Fun and The Jezabels. lego House for a debut next week!
Highest place song that I can either tolerate or actually know of is Awkward. It's a pretty decent tune, but at the moment not awesome enough for me to care about it lol. Great jump for it as well.
Great to see fun. crack the Top 50, but a bit disappointing to see Matt Corby drop out of the Top 50.
Out of the bubbling songs, I am most hoping that Lego House can crack your chart. Fingers crossed.
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 19/3/12 Edition No.123 Songs retire at 75 weeks
Just when it seemed that Boy were disappearing from the top end of my chart, they strike back this week with 'Waitress' achieving its 9th week at #1. An amazing week for the band with 'Drive Darling' repeaking at #2. Staying at #3 is 'Steam', with 'Follow Me Down' down to #4 at 'Met Before' pushing Lana Del Rey out of the top five.
ENTRIES: Didn't think I'd ever chart this, let alone this high, 'Lego House' by Ed Sheeran at 15. Nothing to say, 'You As You Were' by Shearwater at 65. I was always going to chart this sooner or later, 'Temporary' by White Rabbits at 68. And because I'm going clinically insane, 'You Should Consider Having Sex With A Bearded Man' by The Beards at 100.
MAINSTREAM: Rihanna & Jay-Z still on top but not really close to promotion. Usher enters with Madonna leaving.

You are very late naughty boy Good to see a high debut for Ed Sheeran's new song Lego House in my opinion it is his best song better than the annoying A Team At first I though Ed Sheeran was Ron from Harry Potter when I saw the video clip then I looked on Wikipedia and it turns out he was miming the lyrics I was really surprised at first when I saw the video clip and thought Ron is Ed Sheeran I went mad. Good to see some M.I.A in your top 10. But sad to see Bangarang dropping hopefully it will rise up
Awesome debut for Lego House and also very nice to see The Beards in. I'd have debuted that but it's too old for me. Great jumps for Gotye and Fun, but I totally have nothing to say about Waitress Boy being back on top. Nothing good or nothing bad. It's just something that happened. Now that Lego has debuted, I'll root for the other Ed to get in. From what I heard the DSA album was good, but I need to hear it properly and more.
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 26/3/12 Edition No.124 Songs retire at 75 weeks
A few weeks ago, it seemed 'Drive Darling' was to become the unluckiest #2 peaker since 'Logic' and 'Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair', but this week it's somehow made the final leap to top spot to make it three number ones and 11 weeks at #1 in total for Boy.
ENTRIES: I'll admit that the only thing holding this from top spot is the fact that it grew so much on me later in the week, making next week a very interesting title defence for 'Drive Darling'. If I'm not mistaken, this also marks the first artist to chart songs on this chart from three separate studio albums. Where 'My Propeller' and the very unlucky 'Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair' failed, 'R U Mine?' entering at 2 may give the Arctic Monkeys their first ever #1. At 8 this week is a killer track from their debut record Outlands, 'Granite City' by Deep Sea Arcade. Two entries with his sister Julia, and now Angus Stone branches out with his first solo entry with 'Broken Brights' at 16. Perhaps hurt by a decline later in the week, but still a very respectable position for a first entry, 'Paddling Out' by Miike Snow at 19. And at 27, the lowest entry of the week which is weirdish, 'The Devil Won't Take You' by Deep Sea Arcade at 27.
MAINSTREAM: Rihanna & Jay-Z are still on top with Ed Sheeran stuck at #2. Usher climbs to third spot.

Great debut for the Monkeys song I have not heard in full, hope it can grab the top spot next week. Also liking the DSA and Miike Snow debuts. Probably Angus too, but I haven't heard it. Very nice to see Ed Sheeran hit the top ten and The Beards moving up a little.
Even though I don't find it awesome, go Arctic Monkeys for #1! Also yikes you've charted Choir Of Young Believers higher than me I've possibly heard some of these DSA now. Paddling Out is great. Disjointed sentence. Poor Misty
Great to see Ed Sheeran jump into the top ten, but a shame to see Matt Corby and Fun both down. Your mainstream chart is very hit and miss for me, but wins on the hits side (Domino, WDKY, YNMIDNY).
Great to see Ed crack the Top 10 cause now I can say I have one song in your Top 10 I like.
Then it's a massive drop all the way until fun, appears before there is another song I like. And then Brother appears and then I'm hoping song 101 is totally awesome
I do however like your #5 on the mainstream chart.
@Hijinx I may have told you already, but Kings 157 Warriors 150
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 2/4/12 Edition No.125 Songs retire at 75 weeks
Sure, it's somewhat predictable, but Arctic Monkeys score their first #1 with their sixth attempt. 'R U Mine?' was destined for #1 ten days ago, but the persistence of 'Drive Darling' stopped it last week. Deep Sea Arcade jump to third place in front of a new peak for Choir Of Young Believers too. Ed Sheeran and Angus Stone also bullet within the top 10.
ENTRIES: The second song in the chart by The Delta Riggs, and the second song in the chart titled 'Money' at 58. Lovely sound at 80 with 'Our Hearts' by Firehorse. Re-entering at a new peak, despite my Internet Friends fake rage, 'Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings' by Father John Misty at 85. It has their distinct sound without really sounding like any of their existing songs, which can't be a bad thing. 'Seen No Right' by Deep Sea Arcade at 95. It's been thereabouts for a long timer but English Avenue finally enter at 97 with 'Saturday Night'. I've just realised that this is the first ever entry in the chart's history from Tasmania. It also could so pass as a Portishead song, 'Next' by Alta at 98. And rounding out the entries, because I'm a late buffalo, 'Escapee' by Architecture In Helsinki at 99.
MAINSTREAM: Rihanna and Jay-Z on top for a fifth week, but with Jessie J and Kelly Clarkson out, Florence and the Machine and Drake enter.

MAINSTREAM CHART: Rules: 1. In UK/USA/NZ/AUS charts 2. may eventually retire and enter Bubbling (Promotion) 3. songs from Bubbling or chart are ineligible
I would've been heartbroken to see the Kings fall short in such a high scoring match, although honestly they shouldn't have put the goal posts 20 metres apart
It's so weird that you don't have any debuts in the top 50, and even worse that you don't have any that I curr about in the top 98. I guess there's Father John Misty, but that's not a new entry and it doesn't count.
Miike Snow almost made the same jump on both of our charts, what a missed opportunity
Great to see Arctic Monkeys at #1, the song keeps growing on me, and the film clip is very cool. Nice to see Choir Of Young Believers still rising too. I also think that perhaps Lego House is more likely to top your chart than mine Good to see it up.
I don't know if you know this, but the top 10 of your chart is not Kanye's zone, so you are completely free to put his song there! Or you could just put Video Games there again, whatever works in my favour.
Also like the rise for Shearwater as it seems to be the only one of noteworthy proportions in the main body of the chart. Go Wild Love or Let Her Go for debuts, or even Crystalised maybe, in all cases it helps make me look less foreveralone with my unpopular choices! Last edited:
Nice to see Escapee belatedly debut and Arctic Monkeys stealing the top spot. I don't know how Ed's two place rise is a bullet, but I'm happy to see it continuing upward. Miike Snow for top ten I think, but sad to lose The Beards.
2. Also, I've ditched the Mainstream chart. Last year #1s of 'I Need A Dollar' (my favourite of the year), 'Rolling In The Deep' and 'Otis' were Mainstream graduates among many other hits, but now it's gone a bit stale. I'm starting my very own Aria Personal (the IPAC ) which should be a better solution.
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 9/4/12 Edition No.126 Songs retire at 75 weeks
Achieving a second week at #1 is 'R U Mine?' by the Arctic Monkeys, outlasting rises for Deep Sea Arcade, Choir Of Young Believers and Miike Snow within the top 5. Boy's dominance seems to be over now for sure, with 'Drive Darling' down to 5 and 'Waitress' falling to 8. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Firehorse could have easily been top 5, but they will have to do with jumps to #6 and #7 respectively. A notable leap for Alta as well, jumping to #14.
ENTRIES: Her first two entries are still in the top 100 but here's her third, 'Crystalised' by Owl Eyes at 18. I've given it a chance and it's grown on me, 'Goodbye Kiss' by Kasabian at 52. I found it a bit average first up but it's very cool now, DZ Deathrays at 63 with 'No Sleep'. This is one of their most Radiohead-sounding songs ever, 'Hold It To The Fire' by White Rabbits at 85. Shotgun Funk re-enter at 96 with 'Hello Hello' whilst The Beards re-enter at 97. It's been very close on so many occasions, but perhaps partly due to feeling sorry for it somewhat, 'Flying Colours' by The Getaway Plan debuts at 98. And rounding out the entries is Panama with 'Magic' at 100.
I needed a lol, so I checked out what the chart looked like a year ago
Meanwhile, I know 8/10 of the top 10, I can't remember the last time this happened, even better, I can remember most of them But goooo Arctic Monkeys at #1, goooo Choir of Young Believers climbing in the top 10, and goooo Miike Snow & Teedlydeedlies for entering the top 10.
Shockingly, I really like Crystalised, awesome to see it debut and very high. I also like the Kasabian song, and I might like the DZ Deathrays song assuming it's what I think it is (indeed it is!), and of course who doesn't love The Beards? Nice rises for Shearwater, Father John Misty, Skrillex, Architecture In Helsinki and the White Rabbits song I actually know
I didn't realise you were still charting Zinger Burger
Wow Arctic Monkeys at Number 1 I didn't know you were a fan The song is growing on me atm. Impressive climb for Miike snow and good to see Skrillex inside your top 40
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 16/4/12 Edition No.127 Songs retire at 75 weeks
Again it's Arctic Monkeys on top, this time for a third week with 'R U Mine?'. Miike Snow jump to second with 'Paddling Out', pushing Deep Sea Arcade to #3. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs achieve their third #4 peaker with Jack White rounding out the top 5.
ENTRIES: The White Stripes hit 1,000 lastie plays during the week, and here's Jack White's second solo entry with 'Sixteen Saltines' at 5. Out of nowhere this week comes 'Back Of Your Neck' by Howler at 9. Her third entry on the back of obtaining her album, 'Blue Jeans' by Lana Del Rey at 31. Their second entry, 'Zoom' by Last Dinosaurs at 79. I nearly charted them back in 2010 and it's been a long two years to wait, but Bombay Bicycle Club belatedly debut with 'Shuffle' at 87. And if that weren't enough H100ness for one week, Pnau at 94 with 'The Truth'. Deep Sea Arcade round out the entries with the opening title track of their debut album. 'Outlands' enters at 96.
You should check out this awesome chart where Howler debuted at #9 three months ago, I think you've heard of it! Also that top 2 is very cool, R U Mine? in particular is growing on me a lot. However they both pale in comparison to Hollywood Guitars And Violent Movies Forever Song Title Cemetery Spelt Incorrectly On Rage Website Sings The Blues by that priest who operates in the Cerulean Gym Still can't remember how that Jack White song goes though, Love Interruption should be there instead on that basis. You've totally outcharted me on Architecture in Helsinki & White Rabbits (whodafunkit?!) now though, which I suppose is a good thing. I like that Lana Del Rey song funnily enough. Also that Last Dinosaurs song, that Bombay Bicycle Club song & that Pnau song (omg BZ isn't the slowest!). Did Skrillex punch your kitten in the last week or something? Also sad that Trial Kennedy had to have the biggest drop out, and that they had to disband [/I need my fix of stupid, long comments since BZ didn't post a chart this week ]
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 23/4/12 Edition No.128 Songs retire at 75 weeks
For a fourth week, Arctic Monkeys enjoy the #1 spot with 'R U Mine?'. While it increased its lead on 'Paddling Out' this week, challengers in Jack White, Firehorse, Howler and Father John Misty emerge. A relatively stable week, with SBTRKT's 16-place rise the biggest of the week with 'Hold On' now in the top 20.
ENTRIES: I fail at making comparisons, so I won't. All I know is that I'm anticipating new stuff from some other Scottish band instead, regardless it's 'Default' by Django 2X at 34. Those vocals?! I still can't get into them, and I may never be able too. The guitar riffs at that awesome though that this QOTSA-like track finally deserves a debut. Kingswood enter at 72 with 'Yeah Go Die'. It was my second favourite track of the EP when I first heard it in full, and now I have the EP itself, this opinion has remained the same. 'Souls A'Fire' by Matt Corby debuts at 76. I never thought I would give this an entry to be honest, but 'Conditioning' by Cadence Weapon enters at 87. At 96, it's Ben Howard's first ever entry with 'Diamonds'. And at 98, Usher.
Don't look now, but I pretty much know and remember almost the whole top 10. It's nice to see Howler rise, but it's sad that they don't make the exact same rise as they did on my chart many moons ago, it's also good for Father John Misty, but there was a great 7 7 7 7 opportunity there, and everyone loves them
Also ooh, Architecture in Helsinki & Kasabian look top 10 bound. Also Default is very cool but in the way that it can't manage to chart well for me. Faces rises! I don't think it means anything if it lasts longer in your chart than in mine Same goes for Raiders for which it has already happened Also yay for Souls A'Fire, and Usher which I would totally be charting if I had a top 100 probably
Good No.1 atm it is a good song by the monkeys almost my favourite it is my second favourite right behind Brianstorm. My guess for your next number one is paddling out. So you are the one who likes escapee I was wondering why I saw it on the ACW Good debut for Django Django
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 30/4/12 Edition No.129 Songs retire at 75 weeks
There were challengers. Not so in 'Paddling Out', which falls to five, but mainly from Firehorse, Father John Misty and SBTRKT. But the reality is nothing could beat Arctic Monkeys, who stay at #1 for a fifth week 'R U Mine?'.
ENTRIES: Surprise! I've eventually taken to 'Warrior'! Anyway, Fostetrakimbra enter at 41 with said song. 'Radio' by Lana Del Rey sounds singleworthy, at 47. Linkin Park's caps lock party 'BURN IT DOWN' at 81. This one has eventually grown on me for real, 'Ten Times' by Money For Rope at 90. Royston Vasie enter at 93 with 'You Want It Now'. I just can't accept that it will never have a proper chart run, 'In Colour' by Hunting Grounds re-enters at 97. Much better than its lowly peak of 86 suggests, 'Dream On' by Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs re-enters at 98.
R U Mine? has an awesome clip, I think it's something to do with the camera panning and such. It also helps that it's a rather strong song. However I find Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings to be a pinch better of course, do consider it. It's also nice to see White Rabbits hit the top 20, however I feel that their stay there will not be a permanent one!. The Mark Foster + A-Trak + Kimbra + Lana Del Rey debuts are great, and the Hunting Grounds re-entry is very good too, you've reminded me that I simply must get my HG playcounts ahead of my Howl playcounts Somewhere around the time of writing this, I accidentally passed 55,000 plays
I'm not going to lie, I only know one song in your top 20, and unfortunately Ed drops this week I am glad to see a fair bit of Lana love, despite Bue Jeans dropping. Surprised to see Gotye & Kimbra rebounding, plus a solid debut for Linkin Park.
Mainly preoccupied with reconfiguring my chartabase, so less notes this week
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 7/5/12 Edition No.130 Songs retire at 75 weeks
Just when you thought the Arctic Monkeys were gunning down Boy's record, English producer Aaron Jerome under the alias SBTRKT rockets to top spot with 'Hold On'.
ENTRIES: Arctic Monkeys will be up for a fight next week so here's some extra artillery, or something I dunno, 'Electricity' at 14. Another album track of awesomeness from White Rabbits with 'The Day You Won The War' at 25. Deep Sea Arcade at 41 with 'Together'. This one's a real standout, expect it to do big things, 'Bottle' by Texture At Sun at 66. Here it is finally! Florence and her machine never letting go at 81. Granston Display at 98 with 'Back To You'.
Go Kasabian!, I hope they make the top ten soon, Nice rises also for The Black Keys, Linkin Park, good debuts for the Arctic Monkeys & Florence and the Machine.
I do like Hold On, it seems like such a random #1 though. I also like the jumps into the top 10 fr Chairlift & Django Django. I also like that jump for Those Dancing Days now that I have recently re-confirmed my knowledge of it and that you are still charting it. And I like that Hunting Grounds jump, and I like that jump for A-Trak & co. I like those Florence + The Machine & Arctic Monkeys songs that debuted. I like things.
Great to see Lana Del Rey, Owl Eyes, Foster, Gotye and Ed Sheeran holding up against all the songs I don't know. Does Linkin Park have any chance of debuting?
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 14/5/12 Edition No.131 Songs retire at 75 weeks
It really could have been either of them, but alas, it's the song with 'sex elf' mondegreen which retains the #1 spot for a second week. The song that rhymes with Proserpine is steady at 2. Many songs rise, many songs fall. Ducks exist. Oh and Usher's gone.
ENTRIES: The lyrical content is a little uncharacteristic of them, in fact the song is quite different from anything on Manners. But srsly, what sort of album name is Gossamer? 'Take A Walk' by Passion Pit at 25. I've been trying to pin down what this sounds like for the past few days, and I'm beginning to hear a lot of 'Seasons Changing'. Regardless, it's just awesome and I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up peaking higher than 'Sword To A Gunfight'. Children Collide at 44 with 'Cherries'. I really don't know what to say except that I'm just so late on this, 'Simple Song' by The Shins at 77. I was a bit nonplussed at first but it's a grower, The Temper Trap at 84 with 'Need Your Love'. Lakyn Heperi is now the new lead singer of Passport, and here they are at 92 with 'Communicate' with Lakyn taking the vocals. And because it was stuck in my head for random times during the week, 'Voodoo Love' by The Charge re-enters at a lowly 99.
Felicity Groom's album from last year was also called Gossamer, I remember the spelling surprising me I shockingly know almost all of the top 10 without even trying, I feel like I should amend this one day, however you could do this for me by getting rid of the TRASH! and slotting in Hunting Grounds and their crazy bullet. I don't think I'm capable of such a bullet because I'm pretty sure the songs at the bottom of my chart aren't quite good enough, or scratching that, my chart is too small I like that Passion Pit song, it could easily become their 2nd biggest hit on my chart, with the aiding factor that there's little competition. It's cool that the White Rabbits song I know and like is the highest, and is still rising. I find it interesting that Choir Of Young Believers is falling as fast on yours as on mine, especially as it's not a particularly irritating song to justify such actions. I'm on the side of Cherries charting, and charting well. Also that Shins song is rather excellent. Also you should chart those Art of Sleeping, Battleships, Chairlift, Deep Sea Arcade, Gossling, Lana Del Rey, Metric & Temper Trap songs. I'm sad that the slightly unexpected song that I'm considering charting is flopping.
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 21/5/12 Edition No.132 Songs retire at 75 weeks
I try as much as possible to create a stable chart, but this week changes had to be made. Django Django score their first number one with their first entry in 'Default'. However, Children Collide are searching for their fourth number one and may soon get it with 'Cherries'.
ENTRIES: 'Chew' in itself is an ugly song name, one that I would say is 'Yuck'. The artist and song that I have already mentioned is 8. Children Collide score their 12th entry (inorite ) with 'Praying For Sunshine' at 27. It is such a lovely song, and they may soon have a third song in the chart. For now it's 'I Belong In Your Arms' by Chairlift at 48. Happy jinx?!?!?! Nah I kid, 'Wild Love' by Gossling is at 73 deservedly, although I give it points for persevering. I'm surprised I'm charting this tbh, but here is Kan-Z's fifth entry from Watch The Throne with 'Welcome To The Jungle' at 77. A month ago, even two weeks ago, I had ruled out ever charting this. Crossed it out with pen, threw the pen in the bin. Now I've dived back into the bin to get my pen back, as it's 'Speak Of The Devil' by Hermitude entering at 87. A much newer song than 'Speak Of The Devil', which makes me feel a little better I suppose. Metric were one of those bands that were eventually going to score a hit at some point for me, and at 89 'Youth Without Youth' enters. Suspiciously two spots below 'Need Your Love' is another TTT song in 'Rabbit Hole' at 94. Metronomy songs can often take a while to grow on me, and hence 'Loving Arm' is no exception, entering at 97. My go-to short song at present, which deserves credit considering 'War' is still charting. In any case, Queensland band Bleeding Knees Club enter at the number of problems Jay-Z has with 'Nothing To Do'. And scraping in finally are The Drums with 'Days' at 100.
Yay for Django Django, I clearly enjoy that song greatly, I mean, I charted it exactly as well as Pumped Up Kicks! But then the awkward situation arises that it's my least favourite in the top 5, terrific rises for Children Collide & Hunting Grounds. It also didn't occur to me just how close Never Let Me Go leaped towards the pinnacle of the other chart, hopefully it can maintain this momentum next week. I particularly love the Temper Trap & Gossling debuts, but the Chairlift & Metric ones are strong too. I'll be very disappointed when Midnight City & Raiders don't re-enter together in the future
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 28/5/12 Edition No.133 Songs retire at 75 weeks
Not much movement at the top this week, but don't be fooled, it is very close. Almost by default, Django Django defy all odds and stay on top for a second week. Children Collide's bite of the #1 cherry failed, and they jump to 2. Arctic Monkeys continue to question the ownership of a person whilst falling back to 3, while Chairlift and Hunting Grounds round out the top five by holding their spots.
ENTRIES: It came to my attention earlier in the week that I would have to debut this. I've been struggling to work out where though, and even though Chairlift enter at 59 with their third entry in 'Sidewalk Safari', it may not stop there. Next up is a song I originally passed off as average, but I really do like it now. 'Prussian Blue' becomes Children Collide's 13th entry at 82. Three spots down at 85 is some more Children Collide with 'The Flat Earth'. She's back! Sadly it may not translate into the same ARIA success as her previous work, but nevertheless Missy Higgins enters for the first time with 'Unashamed Desire' at 94. It should be higher but whatever, 'Freedom At 21' is the one with the riff by Jack White at 95. More Jack White at 97 with 'Trash Tongue Talker'. I'm still not sold on this, sure I'm debuting it, but it really has only just snuck in. Battleships enter at 99 with 'In Retrospect'. And if there wasn't enough Jack White already, at 100 he sneaks in with another entry in 'Hip (Eponymous) Poor Boy'.
I have only heard a bit of Django Django, and it's ok. It might grow on me, but for the time being I'm pleased with it being number one. Nice to see Florence and The Temper Trap rising plus Missy Higgins debuting, but a lot of the other tracks I like drop this week.
I don't quite approve of the top 5 this time because it's made slightly worse than last week! That Florence rise is good, as is that ridiculously random Portugal. The Man rise. I think it's sad to see Faces block Crystalised out of the top 50, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to take it to be honest Also that Battleships tune is lovely.
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 4/6/12 Edition No.134 Songs retire at 75 weeks
It's strategically worked its way to the top, and now it's strategically keeping its place there. Django Django are still #1 with 'Default', and suffice to say, it looks quite settled too. Children Collide move to #2 with 'Praying For Sunshine', but 'Cherries' slips to fourth due to a very immovable 'R U Mine?'. Cadence Weapon and Florence and the Machine look like possibilities to take over soon.
ENTRIES: It's way different to his first entry on the chart some two years ago, but I'm glad he's back. Sam Duckworth is back with his project Get Cape.Wear Cape. Fly. and the song 'Daylight Robbery' at 35. This is so channelling De Stijl, 'I'm Shakin'' by Jack White enters at 56. I haven't heard such an awesome trancey beat since, well, 'I'm Not Alone'! It has such raw power, really cool. 'In My Mind' enters at 64 by Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl featuring Georgi Kay. I often forget how it goes quite easily, but the chorus is a real standout here. 'Empty Hands' by Art of Sleeping comes in at 89. And the fifth entry of the week, and their fifteenth entry to date, White Rabbits with 'Everyone Can't Be Confused' at 98.
Get on those Dead Letter Circus, Django Django, Cast Of Cheers & Temper Trap songs. I'm commenting on this first because it's the first bit I see and if I've typed too much before I get to it, I'll have to deal with unnnecessary scrollage. In short, I should've shortened that sentence.
It's sad to see Cherries totally dumped in place of a TRASH!ier CC song, but my attention is drawn more to Florence's jump into the top 10, it's the first time we've shared a song in the top 10 for 2 weeks, and the first time we've shared a song in the top 10 with ARIA all at the same time since, cripes Lonely Boy I think Epic jump for Portugal. The Man even if they only improve their peak by 2! Sad to see Howler having a Short Stack run, but nice for Crystalised back in the top 50 with a massive hyperbolic bullet! Also that Deep Sea Arcade song that is actually a single and stuff.
You've made my In My Mind debut seem less weird, which is good. I also dig that Art Of Sleeping song even though I cannot remember how it goes at all, except the bit where it says "Empty hands". Otis seems to be leaving the chart rather quickly, I mean it still has another 35 weeks in it!
Go Florence. I hope she can hit the top! Pleased to see Ed rising and Ivan Gogh debuting. Shame to see Gold on the Ceiling dropping out, but hopefully the Temper Trap can debut soon.
Excellent to see Florence crack your Top 10. Also good to see Ed hanging around the Top 20. And aso good to see Matt Corby still hanging around in the charts.
I'm hoping Lego House can somehow get back in the top 10, and I guess I should join everyone else in saying Go Florence! Not many other songs that are there to support though
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 11/6/12 Edition No.135 Songs retire at 75 weeks
Excitement! Wow! Not really. In any case, Django Django are still at number one with 'Default'. And becoming the Metronomy of 2012 isn't outside the realm of possibility, with 'Storm' the highest entry of the week.
ENTRIES: Yes, they're my own personal trend at present. And yes, I'll probably end up buying their album. Here are Django Django with their second entry with 'Storm' at 13. Some more Deep Sea Arcade at 25, with the impressive closing track to their debut album Outlands in 'Airbulance'. This one's crept up on me a fair bit actually. Really digging the chorus. Fun to be had with Children Collide at 34 with 'Summer Assassin'. And I do believe I've charted every released Deep Sea Arcade song in existence now. 'Ride' at 75. And I really do hate myself. Not even going to speak of it.
Battleships are accelerating uncontrollably! Awesome to see Portugal. The Man belatedly reaching the top 10, that song's excellence cannot be stated enough. Django Django's debut is also very cool, I've thought about charting it myself, though it seems rude because it would almost certainly outperform Default if that were to happen, and I suspect you wouldn't approve I've actually heard of that first Deep Sea Arcade song sorta, I read in an interview that they wrote it when they were in highschool or something, which is fascinating obviously. Good move for Ivan Gough. I think since their other songs are losing steam, you should chart Boy's new song Emma Louise
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 18/6/12 Edition No.136 Songs retire at 75 weeks
Sometimes in life, you just have to wait. Sometimes even for 24 weeks. And Portugal. The Man have done this with 'So American', which makes a meteoric rise to the top for its first week at #1. Django Django slip to second, while Arctic Monkeys continue to ask the same question.
ENTRIES: How ridiculous would it be if I never charted this? Quite. Anyway, The Rubens are great and 'Don't Ever Want To Be Found' enters at 8. This group have been around since 1989 :O I think only the Red Hot Chili Peppers are older of bands I've charted, but I'd have to look that one up. The band's songwriter Stephen Merritt also did a nice cover of a Franz song not along ago. In any case, patience is a virtue for 'Quick!' by The Magnetic Fields, entering at 65. Another Franz connection here, with Alex Kapranos having produced this fine tune. 'Reptile' by Citizens! is easily my second favourite track with that name, coming in at 93. And the ever-so-lovely Firehorse enter for a second time with 'If You Don't Want To Be Alone' at 98.
25 weeks to #1 though, is that a record or something?
Linkin Park is slowing chipping a new peak, it looks like Lego House is on the decline though.
It seems like it takes ages for songs in your Bubblers to reach your 100. I swear I've been seeing those Jack White and Children Collide songs for a month
yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, So American has had a crazy month it appears, although it is weird that as massive as it was for me, it hasn't been in my chart for over a month now. The Rubens' song has grown on me a little but their sound doesn't do a lot for me. It's nice to see Storm in the top 10, I don't want to say it, but it might be better than Default
I think my 212 phase may be over It's nice to see Chairlift in the top 40 and Crystalised continuing its erratic run but on the top half this time! If Battleships aren't at least #-84 or something next week I'll be disappointed, but this week's jump suffices. Yay to le Citizens!!!!!!!!!!!! too.
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 25/6/12 Edition No.137 Songs retire at 75 weeks
He may not be born of this land, but he was born of this world. It was a song I debuted while I was in the States, so really 'So American' speaks true in a number of ways. Portugal. The Man are number one again but very nearly lost it mid-week to an amazing surge for Firehorse. Her track of ambient beauty 'If You Don't Want To Be Alone' rockets 96 spots up to #2. Django Django and Arctic Monkeys continue to hold spots in the top 5, and I hate myself.
ENTRIES: I held it off a week because it was very late into last week that I got into this. It's for the song's benefit I feel though, with 'You Used To Be A Man' by New Young Pony Club at 11. I can't believe I didn't hear this before! Such a cool track. Van She are at 16 with 'Idea Of Happiness'. In all honesty, I wasn't sure what to expect leading to hearing Yeasayer's new one. It's nothing like their established tracks, but yet it still has that Yeasayer feel to it. 'Henrietta' comes in at 43. Happy happy happy this makes me, 'Carbon Affair' by Hey Geronimo is their second entry to date at 59. I recall vividly earmarking this as a very chartable track, but I lost a bit of interest for it. Thankfully I've regained enough interest in it again to chart it, 'The Flat Earth' by Children Collide at 67. I saw a poster of theirs on the way to Uni once, forgot about them for a while, got into this track, and saw the poster again and realised who they were. Lulz a-plenty for Blackchords and 'Dance Dance Dance', at 84. Snakadaktal surprised me last year with 'Chimera', which I charted quite well. I could have belatedly gave 'Air' a debut post-H100, but decided against it. Hopefully 'Dance Bear' at 91 helps redeem that to some degree. Children Collide round out the week with 'My Heart Came Alive' at 97. They now sit on 17 entries to date, behind only Friendly Fires on 19 :OOO
Good to see Default still inside the top 3 we are the only two who like this song. Happy to see Met Before, Lego House, Paddling out and Escapee still in
You know, the more mega jumps you have, the less impact they have So American is still ever so awesome though. I also did not know there was new New Young Pony Club, so that has me intrigued. I like the new Van She song but the ship has beyond sailed for me Oh and I think I know the first Children Collide song but not the 2nd. The Snakadaktal tune is class though. Also Battleships' rise is disappointing
I have never heard the track at number two, but a jump that big can't go unacknowledged! Wow. Nice rises for Azealia and Ivan Gough. I am still waiting for The Temper Trap to debut
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 2/7/12 Edition No.138 Songs retire at 75 weeks
Overcoming all the odds this week, Portugal. The Man stay on top for a third week with 'So American', ahead of a very explicit Azealia Banks and a dreamy Firehorse. The Rubens and Lana Del Rey make rises within the top 10.
ENTRIES: This is so ridiculous! 'Survival' by Muse at 13. This track really surprised me, it's got an awesomely catchy chorus and it's Children Collide's 18th entry. Fittingly, 'Black Lemon' enters at 18. Insert Slowpoke meme here, Ed Sheeran at 62 with 'Drunk'. I don't understand why I undercharted (it's a word now! ) this one for so long, 'Ten Times' by Money For Rope deserves a big re-entry at 67. Their third entry to date, Django Django with 'Firewater' at 68. It's taken a while to grow on me but it could become my favourite of their newies. 'Trembling Hands' by The Temper Trap enters at 73. Similar for Ladyhawke who enters at 83 with 'Sunday Drive'. And Django Django aren't done yet for the week, with 'Wor' coming in at 90. This can be a bit annoying at times but it's done enough to enter at 95, it's 'Hands Say Clap Clap' by 8 Bit Love. Jack White continues his long list of entries with 'Hypocritical Kiss' at 99. I have nothing else to say except that The Charge return at 100 with 'Voodoo Love'.
PTM still #1 is cool but omg go away 212 , anyway nice rises for Lana Del Rey, Ivan Gough & Linkin Park, solid debuts for Ed Sheeran, The Temper Trap & Ladyhawke.
212 confuses me But So American is awesome and stuff. Nice to see Lana Del Rey in the top 10 even if it's not near my favourites from the album. Also the jumps for Citizens!, Ivan Gough & Battleships are nice. It seems weird that in a week with The Temper Trap & Muse that my favourite debut is from Ladyhawke. I'm starting to lose faith in Dead Letter Circus charting, so maybe I'll support Last Dinosaurs & Ruby Boots.
Go Portugal! I hope I never see 212 on top, otherwise that would be the first #1 of yours that I dislike! Let's go Django Django too. So awesome to see Drunk debut, I'm not too keen on listening to the new Muse yet. Go STIUTK for 52 weeks!
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 9/7/12 Edition No.139 Songs retire at 75 weeks
Portugal. The Man had a good run on top but it's fallen to second this week. The new number one comes from Firehorse with her piece of ambient brilliance 'If You Don't Want To Be Alone'. Azealia Banks is sent packing down to 4, while The Rubens score their second top 5 hit with 'Don't Ever Want To Be Found'. Muse and Lana Del Rey make notable rises nearby.
ENTRIES: The Presets are back! And it sucks so much that it was denied charting, but I may be able to accept it if the proper single charts. 'Youth In Trouble' enters at 14. A song that I've ignored for way too long, 'Andy' by Last Dinosaurs at 27. Don't ask me to pronounce this one! It's about time that I could chart Sigur Rós at some point, this is 'Varúð' at 52. Ed Sheeran enters for the fourth time with 'Small Bump' at 60.Even though it's old news, Grizzly Bear are back! And I can see myself really getting into 'Sleeping Ute', which debuts at 79. Is it better than 'Storm'? I'd say it'd come close! 'Life's a Beach' by Django Django comes in at 83. And I have no idea who they are but Ruby Boots are in at 97 with 'Wise Up'.
Check Azealia Banks out! #2 peak is awesome! Oh no new The Presets Cool to see a Lana Del Rey track moving up (although I can't think of how it goes off the top of my head) and yus for my hope coming true and Trembling Hands debuting last week and then rising this week! Woo!
Projections, by 2013, there'll be no dropouts list, by 2014 there'll be only a top 50, by 2015, the chart will be replaced by weekly posts that just say 'Franz'
The new #1 is nice but I obviously did prefer both the other song from it and the song that was #1 last week. Yeah for Muse & Van She in the top 10 too. Nice to see Last Dinosaurs, Ruby Boots & Ed Sheeran debuting. Even if I already have, I can't fairly judge The Presets' song until I've heard it as part of an album at least 10 times, worked for Apocalypso
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 16/7/12 Edition No.140 Songs retire at 75 weeks
I'm in love with Firehorse at the moment, 'If You Don't Want To Be Alone' easily achieving a second week on top. The Rubens make another jump, this time to fourth. Meanwhile, Muse also rise. Blah.
ENTRIES: A really interesting sound from Alta with 'Bees' at 11. Firehorse enters for the third time with 'Machete Gang Holiday' at 52. I likened this to 'Siberian Breaks' more so than 'Flash Delirium' in my review for it, but I also hear a bit of 'Of Moons, Birds & Monsters' and 'Solitude Is Bliss' in this as well. Tame Impala enter at 59 with 'Apocalypse Dreams'. Firehorse is back for more, 'She's A River' at 74. And I've gotten into it enough to chart it, 'Myth' by Beach House at 87.
Go those songs that have had a stint on my chart filling out the bottom section of the chart! And Muse making the top 5 in a surprisingly stable top 10. Great jumps for Father John Misty & The Temper Trap, and by gosh those Tame Impala & Beach House debuts are fine.
Awesome rebound for Default! It's because I'm charting it isn't it? Also great to see Small Bump in the chart, I missed it debuting last week. Come on Burn It Down, you can make the top 50....come on STIUTK, only one more week!
A few of my faves drop this week, but I am pleased to see Trembling Hands gaining some traction after sitting in the bubblers for so long! Nice rises also for Ivan Gough & Django Django (Default).
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 23/7/12 Edition No.141 Songs retire at 75 weeks
Another week of dominance from Firehorse, who stays at #1 with the magnificent 'If You Don't Want To Be Alone', staking its claim for the EOY now. The Rubens and Muse continue to climb, while Tame Impala make a tremendous leap into the top 5.
ENTRIES: Towards the end of charting 'We Are Young', I first heard this and was underwhelmed. It didn't really make an impact on me at all, but now I can appreciate it. Oh and I'm very glad it's hit #1 on ARIA too. 'Some Nights' by Fun. enters at 12, already ahead of WAY which peaked at 27. On the contrary, I enjoyed this on first listen. Wiz Khalifa enters for the second time with 'Work Hard, Play Hard' at 24. I don't think it'll ever be as awesome as 'In Colour' but 'Flaws' by Hunting Grounds is cool enough to enter at 61. This one's slipped under the radar a fair bit, Loon Lake enter at 67 with their ARIA SMASH HIT!!!!!111!!11 'Cherry Lips'. And the FIFTH entry in a row this week that is the second entry for the artist, 'Medusa' by Kingswood at 72. Sadly, Firehorse ruins the second-entry fun with 'Young', her fifth entry to date, at 83. After seemingly popping up everywhere, 'I''m Shakin'' by Jack White makes an obligatory re-entry at 86. They're back! And since 'Come Back Home' failed to become their fifth #1, maybe this will do it. 'Sleep Alone' by Two Door Cinema Club did enough to come in at 96 this week. And perhaps knocking 'Otis' out in the process (oooooh the controversy!), Sleigh Bells practically forget the meaning of bass in their song 'Comeback Kid' re-entering at 99.
Yes Apocalypse Dreams is all kinds of awesome. You could say that Some Nights is WAY ahead of We Are Young! The Wiz Fizz song is weirdly enjoyable too. Flaws is really cool, I'm curious to see if it'll take less than 2 months to peak on my chart. You get that belated #1 peak Faces! I'm starting to develop Stockholm syndrome with Cherry Lips I can see that Beach House climb! And that depiction of TDCC's debut seems rather nonplussed
Yay for The Temper Trap, Linkin Park, Lana Del Rey & Beach House, Nice to see fun. debut and Sleigh Bells re-enter, pretty surprised at the Wiz Khalifa debut
Awesome debut for Fun, as well as a nice little rise for The Temper Trap. Shame to see Florence drop hard and Ed dropping out all together. I am hoping that Ed may get a second chance...
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 30/7/12 Edition No.142 Songs retire at 75 weeks
First it was Boy, and now Firehorse seems intent on being some random artist that goes on to dominate my chart. It's 'If You Don't Want To Be Alone' that celebrates its fourth week on top, while Tame Impala could get there next week as they rise to #3. Meanwhile, Yeasayer jump into the top 10 with 'Henrietta'.
ENTRIES: Of all the other artists in my top 40 in plays on lastie, there are only TWO that I haven't charted. The first of which are The White Stripes, which sadly will more than likely never chart. The second, however, have now finally charted! I suppose it's sorta my fault for being a year or so too late, but The Killers finally have made it with 'Runaways' at 69. A late-week entry no doubt, but it made such an impression on me. Maybe it's just an excuse for me to chart a Beatles song, but the brilliant cover of 'Come Together' by Arctic Monkeys comes in at 77 this week. And because five entries was not enough, Firehorse makes it six with 'Only The Birds' at 83. Re-entering at 92 is the unconventional 'The Flat Earth' by Children Collide. Their second entry in as many weeks, Loon Lake come in at 99 with the Strokes-y 'Fantastica'.
Beach House are up a lot which is cool. Runaways is also very cool. I also quite like the Two Door Cinema Club song which is rising, but most of what else is rising has already peaked or hasn't risen much, or even shock horror, I don't know
Skeptical jinx is skeptical I quite like the Bloc Party debut and am surprised to see them enter that high. I still like that Tame Impala song a lot too. Also I prefer the Yeasayer song at #98 to the one at #1 because I know it Beach House are appropriately killing it.
Hmm, I haven't been so unfamiliar with a top 10 in a while However I do see Beach House AND The Killers rising. The bottom two debuts are good too. I understand the popularity of Pound The Alarm but part of me thinks it's too out there and would turn more people off.
I'm glad you enjoyed doing my 'other' chart, but if you're going to imitate my chart, make sure you get it right and fix that "RET"!
Come on Some Nights! Top 10! Great to see Django X2, Muse, Ed Sheeran (a pity Drunk and Small Bump are already out) and Missy debuting. Pound The Alarm is horrid indeed, especially the video
Why, what a lovely chart layout you have there! There's a reason why my chart ends at 25 - typing all those brackets can get annoying haha. Great to see Fun on the cusp of the top ten and Missy just scraping into the chart. There are a lot of songs that I don't know, and most of the ones I do know fall this week. I like Pound The Alarm, but I can totally understand why you wouldn't like it! Last edited:
The point values seem so over the top and ridiculous. I hope Faces can somehow pull out as a 6 digit smash! Surprised to see Grinspoon in so high, I still don't know about it except that the chorus reminds me of a decade old Hot Hot Heat song Great to see Tame Impala & British India in though, and the Jack White re-entry.
Cool top 10, still good to see Muse, Grinspoon, Django Django, and Tame Impala in, hope Fun can jump into the top 10 soon. Great entries as well, but shame to see Lana leave your charts.
*[s]Evanescence[/s] Grizzly Bear spend a second week at #1 with Yet Again, two years after Dory did the same. *Loon Lake are right behind Grizzly Bear, who remain at no.2 with Fantastica. *The Model School rise to no.5 with Streets I Left Behind. *Escapee, The Day You Won The War, Goodbye Kiss and Paddling Out leave.
Yay I know and like the Grizzly Bear song now! Nice to see Tame Impala & Beach House up with a bullet. It's shockingly also very nice to see Muse & Owl Eyes debut, as well as that Justice song (I nearly charted it last year ) and the Regular John song which I keep forgetting
I haven't had a great day but before today it's been a great week

Grizzly Bear are #1 again, but Loon Lake, Grinspoon and The Model School came close. Muse make a huge jump to #7 with 'Madness'. Hunting Grounds, British India and Justice also make noteworthy rises.
ENTRIES: Asta is yet another Unearthed winner to chart, 'My Heart Is On Fire' at 30. Evermore are back! Their third entry after 'Between The Lines' and 'Underground', it's 'Follow the Sun' at 37. The Bloodpoets are back! Well, it hasn't been near as long. 'Ra Ra Ra Ra Riot' at 51. And Sticky Fingers caress my soul at 85.
Yay for Grizzly Bear. Yay for Grinspoon's 3s. Yay for m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-Muse's rise. Yay for Tame Impala holding up two spots in the top 10. Yay for Hunting Grounds, Justice & British India's noteworthy rises. Yay for Owl Eyes' non-noteworthy rise. Yay for Asta even though I prefer her other song. Yay for the Beach House rise which I can totally notice. Yay for Sticky Fingers.

Still Grizzly Bear. The seemingly impenetrable top 4 has been cracked, with Madness jumping to #4. Tame Impala, Children Collide, Bloc Party and Redcoats make advances in the top 20.
ENTRIES: They could have easily entered last week, but I held Mumford & Sons back. But they waited! 'I Will Wait' is fittingly given an entry this week at 32. 'The Look' and 'Default' were two songs I ignored for way too long, and ended up being #1s. I can't say Twinsy are guaranteed greatness, but I think 'Water Bombs' has plenty of potential. It enters belatedly at 48. Another entry from The Throne, 'New Day' at 52. I'm shocked I only gave it one week initially. 'Rabbit Hole' by The Temper Trap re-enters at 67. I came close to giving 'Crystalised' an entry back in 2009, but I was too late on it and I didn't really like it that much until 2010. The xx finally enter with their ARIA SMASH!!!111!11!!!!11 'Angels' at 82. And because I can, 'Ride' by Deep Sea Arcade re-enters at 100.
Yay for Grizzly Bear, though I must admit I'm having trouble really getting into it. Go Muse & Owl Eyes too, freshest songs in the top 20! If you have the intention to have Beach House take even longer to get to #1 than I had them, then I have nothing against that Nice debuts for those songs that have at points in time, been on my chart.
IRELANDER'S HOT 100 - Mon 17/9/12 Edition No.149 Songs retire at 75 weeks
The top three has been in the same order for three weeks, but boom! Loon Lake overtake Grizzly Bear with 'Fantastica' at #1. Much to my surprise, it's the chart's 67th #1. Muse make it four 4's <3, whilst The Bloodpoets are up to 5 with 'Ra Ra Ra Ra Riot'.
ENTRIES: I am so ignorant. That being said, this week was looking bleak for debuts. Maybe it's good that MS MR enter this week at 28 with 'Hurricane'. 'Gotta Have It' by Kan-Z really is a representation of how the album grew on me heaps. It's in at 39. And 'Lift Off' at 80 because I can. And 'That's My Bitch' at 93, that should be it The Black Keys in at 100 with 'Dead And Gone'. Their fourth entry, which is funny because I always forget I gave 'Tighten Up' a run.
