Pharrell Williams is atop the ARIA Singles Chart for an eleventh week with his Oscar nominated track “Happy”, which is also spending a twelfth week a the top of the New Zealand charts, plus the song is now the longest running No.1 for this decade.

“Happy” is now also the second longest running No.1 for the century, as its now one week behind the twelve weeks that Eminem notched up for “Lose Yourself” (2002), and “Happy” is one of four tracks in Australian chart history to rack-up eleven weeks at the top, with the other being “Wannabe” by The Spice Girls (1996), “(Everything I Do) I Do it for You” by Bryan Adams (1991) and “Mull of Kintyre” for Wings (1978).

Pharrell also racks up his twentieth accumulated week at No.1 in Australia from his three chart-topping appearances (Daft Punk/Robin Thicke are the others) and he is now tied with Rihanna at twenty weeks for ‘The Most Accumulated Weeks at No.1: Decade 2010’s’, although she has done it with five No.1’s, and Pharrell moves up to equal 31st on the list of ‘Accumulated Weeks at No.1 1940-2014’ alongside fifties singer Eddie Fisher who racked up his twenty weeks with seven No.1 songs (if he stays atop for another week he will tie with Bryan Adams).

For a fourth week, “Rather Be” by Clean Bandit is at No.2, although by the end of the week it had taken over the top spot on several digital retailers, so it could move up next week, whilst holding for a second week at No.3 is “Shot Me Down” by David Guetta and Skylar Grey, and the top four are all on hold this week, with “Brave” by Sara Bareilles staying put as well.

Coldplay move up a place to a new peak of No.5 with “Magic”, becoming the bands fourth Top 5 hit and first since “Paradise” (HP-3) in 2011. After dipping back down last week, 5 Seconds of Summer rise back up three places to No.6 with “She Looks So Perfect” (HP-3), helped also by their just announced national tour for early May, whilst down a place to No.9 is Kim Cesarion with “Undressed”.

There are three songs that climb into the Top 10 this week, firstly The Chainsmokers with “#SELFIE”, which bullets up twenty-three places to No.7, whilst also gaining their first Top 10 behind them, up seven to No.8 is Gabrielle Aplin with her debut single “The Power of Love”, taking only four week to reach the Top 10, with the original by Frankie Goes to Hollywood taking five weeks to crack the ten, although it jumped in higher, going 19 to 6 (the week of 21-Jan-1985) {the five weeks does not include the two weeks chart freeze between 1984-85}. Finally, up a couple of places to a new peak of No.10 is Aloe Blacc with “The Man”, which becomes his first solo Top 10 entry (he peaked at No.11 with his first single “I Need a Dollar” in September 2011) and his second Top 10 entry overall, as he was the guest vocalist on the Avicii track “Wake Me Up” (HP-1x7, peaked July 2013). It’s also the first time that the lyrics from “Your Song” by Elton John has made a Top 10 appearance in Australia too, as Elton’s original peaked at No.11 for three weeks from late March 1971 (although it did reach No.10 on the Go-Set charts during the same period). Aloe not only picks up a Top 10 placing, but the track is also now certified ▲ Platinum in sales.

NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: After a small climb last week (26 to 24), Pitbull and G.R.L. blast up twelve places to No.12 this week with “Wild Wild Love”, with local dance act Peking Duk jumping up seven places to a new peak of No.13 with “High”. Jessica Mauboy entered last week at No.21 with her latest single “Never Be the Same”, and thanks to its use in Channel 7’s ‘Revenge’ promos, the song climbs five places to a new chart height of No.16. Neon Jungle are back up to their former peak of No.19 with “Braveheart” and the next climber is way down in the mid-thirties, with the new Cedric Gervis remix of Miley’s “Adore You” helping it back up to No.34 this week. After the past four weeks floundering in the mid-70’s, seventeen year old Zendaya leaps up thirty-nine places to No.37 with her debut single “Replay”, whilst John Martin is up nine places to a new peak of No.47 with “Anywhere for You” (sorry for last weeks identity mix up with John too {thx SG1}).

DOWN DOWN: After debuting at No.5 last week, Taylor Henderson drops down six places to No.11 with “When You Were Mine” and the only other No.1 single for 2014, “Say Something” for A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera drops down seven places to No.14 after eight weeks within the Top 10, and after one week back within the ten, “Free” by Rudimental is back down to No.15 after a now accumulated eleven weeks within the ten. “Swing” for Joel Fletcher and Savage is down five to No.18, but is now certified 3x▲ Platinum in sales, whilst after leaping into the Top 20 last week, “Stupid Love” for Jason DeRulo (17 to 20) and “Fancy” by Iggy Azalea (19 to 28) are back down this week. Cash Cash plummet thirteen places this week to No.24 with “Take Me Home”, but down only three places to No.30 is Eminem with “Headlights” (now Gold ● in sales). “Rude” for Magic drops five places to No.33 (now 4x▲ Platinum) with Nathaniel still dropping, down four to No.35 with “You’re Beautiful”. Also dropping down are Shakira & Rihanna with “Can’t Remember to Forget You” (35 to 48), “Human” by Christina Perri (39 to 54), Unconditionally for Katy Perry (49 to 61) and after returning last week, “Midnight Memories” for One Direction falls hard this week (45 to 95).

Duke Dumont lands his second ARIA Singles chart entry, and his highest charting song, plus the highest new entry this week with his new track “I Got You” featuring Jax Jones as guest vocalist. The song debuted at No.1 in Ireland this past week and has climbed to No.16 in Belgium so far, whilst his previous entry here was the No.40 song “Need U” with A*M*E* (peaked June 2013).

Entering at No.21 is Calvin Harris with “Summer”, which becomes his seventeenth ARIA Top 100 Singles chart entry and his fourteenth Top 40 entry, and it is the second track from his forthcoming fourth album (not title or date yet), with the first track being “Under Control” with Alesso (HP-17, peaked Oct 2013). Another dance act debuts at No.27, DVBBS (Dubbs) feat Borgeous and (current tourist) Tinie Tempah with the current UK No.1 single, “Tsunami (Jump)”. The non-Jump version was originally an instrumental until Tinie added his lyrics, with the original going to No.1 in The Netherlands and Belgium in late 2013.

Local singer/songwriter Sia returns solo to the ARIA Singles chart at No.39 with her first new material in over three-and-a-half years, “Chandelier”, which becomes her fifteenth Top 100 entry overall, and her first lead single since “I Go to Sleep” (HP-32, Nov 2010) and “Bring Night” (HP-99, also Nov 2010), whilst her last overall entry was on the Eminem track “Beautiful Pain” (HP-59, Nov 2013).

Little Mix scores their seventh chart entry by debuting at No.45 with the cover of the Cameo (HP-6, peaked March 1987) track “Word Up!”, which was also done by Korn (HP-28, November 2004). And the final Top 50 entry of the week comes in at No.49, the title track from the debut full-length album (new TW #5) for Skrillex entitled “Recess”, which becomes his sixth chart entry and fourth Top 50 hit, with his last chart entry being “Make it Bun Dem” (HP-27, peaked late May 2012).

Lower 50: Jumping up twenty-four places to a new peak of No.62 are Fitz & The Tantrums with “The Walker” (aka Ellen’s TV commercial song for The Oscars), whilst after three weeks in the higher end of the Top 90, DJ Snake and Lil’ Jon leap up fourteen places to a new chart height of No.67 with “Turn Down for What”. Three weeks ago Thundamentals and Thom Crawford debuted at No.78 with “Something I Said”, which last week dropped back to No.92, but this week it rebounds and lands a new peak of No.77. Also scoring a new peak is DJ Cassidy with Robin Thicke and Jessie J with “Calling All Hearts”, up a couple of places to No.87, with the two re-entries for the week being Kylie Minogue with “Into the Blue” (HP-46) at No.88 thanks to the No.1 debut for her album “Kiss Me Once”, and back in at No.96 is Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel with “For the First Time in Forever” (HP-62).

Local hip-hop act Horrorshow land their first ARIA Singles Chart entry by debuting at No.65 with their new “Nice Guys Finish Last (EP)” featuring Seth Sentry and Drapht as guest acts. UK band Glass Animals also make their first chart splash with the track “Gooey” at No.69 and another British act Example is new at No.74 with “Kids Again”, which becomes his sixth chart entry, and first since October 2012’s “Say Nothing” (HP-54).

Landing their second Top 100 Singles chart entry are Sticky Fingers with “Gold Snafu”, new at No.90, with their previous entry being “Caress Your Soul” (HP-80, Sept 2012). New at No.92 is Nancy Sinatra with her version of “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)”, which has been covered and sampled by David Guetta on his new track which is sitting at No.3 this week, and is best known for being used in the ‘Kill Bill’ films. The song originally reached No.11 in 1965 as performed by Cher, with Nancy’s version not charting at the time in Australia. This also becomes Nancy’s twenty-first singles chart entry, and second for this century as The Audio Bullys sampled her in their song “Shot You Down” (HP-17, peaked Aug 2005)

Cody Simpson is new at No.97 with his new song “Surfboard”, which is now his fifth Top 100 chart entry and one place lower at No.98 are US country rockers Blackjack Billy with their debut EP “Get Some”, whilst also making his first appearance on the ARIA Singles chart is Iceland’s Asgeir with his track “King and Cross”, taken from this weeks No.18 debuting album “In the Silence”.

Kylie Minogue debuts at No.1 with her twelfth studio album and now fourth No.1 album “Kiss Me Once”, which is her first chart-topping album in just under six-and-a-quarter years.

“Kiss Me Once” becomes the 699th No.1 album in Australia (1965 to 2014) and the 550th for ARIA (July 1983 to 2014, this figures has been adjusted from my previous postings). The album also becomes the 349th album to debut at No.1 and it becomes the seventh No.1 album for 2014 and the third to debut at the top for this year.

It’s the seventh No.1 album for the Parlophone label and first since moving to Warner, their last being Coldplay with “Mylo Xyloto” (Oct 2011). And as I mentioned, it’s Kylie’s fourth No.1 album here, with her previous chart-toppers being “Light Years” (1 week, 16-Oct-2000), “Fever” (5 weeks from 15-Oct-2001), and her last was “X” (1 week on 3-Dec-2007). The album also becomes Kylie’s eleventh claim for ‘Highest New Entry of the Week’, and this new set becomes her twelfth Top 10 debut.

Kylie moves up from 79th to equal 72nd for ‘Accumulated Weeks at No.1: Albums’ with her fourth No.1 albums racking up a total of 8 weeks at the top, tying her alongside other acts as One Direction, Janet Jackson and The Offspring. It’s the eighth album to feature the word ‘Me’ in its title, but the first ever for both ‘Kiss’ and ‘Once’, whilst the album is the 169th No.1 for an Australian Act (INXS were the last), and the 102nd by a Female Artist (Beyonce was the last). In the stakes for ‘Most No.1 Albums by a Female Australian Artist’, Kylie is now tied in first place with Kasey Chambers, who has also notched up four No.1’s, whilst still tied in second place with three apiece are Olivia Newton-John, Delta Goodrem and Missy Higgins.

INXS hold at No.2 for a second week with “The Very Best of” (Kylie sits atop Michael), whilst last weeks No.1 set “G I R L” for Pharrell Williams drops back to No.3 but is now certified Gold (●) in sales. Debuting at No.4 is the fourth album for local songstress Kate Miller-Heidke entitled “O Vertigo!” which is now her third Top 10 album, as she hit No.2 with both “Curioser” (peaked Sept 2009) and “Nightflight” (April 2012). The third top five entry is the debut full-length album for Skrillex entitled “Recess”, which is new at No.5 and becomes his second Top 10 albums appearance, as his 2012 set “Bangarang” climbed to No.4 in mid-March of 2012, and he has also charted with the EP “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” (HP-24, peaked March 2012).

The “Frozen” Soundtrack is melting slowly it’s down again one spot to No.6 this week, whilst after two weeks at No.3, Katy Perry and her “Prism” album drops four places to No.7 this week. Falling three places each are Rudimental with “Home” and recent tourist Bruno Mars with “Unorthodox Jukebox” to No.9 and No.10 respectively. Debuting in-between at No.8 is the second album for US band Foster the People entitled “Supermodel”, which enters one place higher than their debut set “Torches” did in late May 2011, it eventually climbed to No.1 37 weeks later in February 2012.

NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: After sneaking in at No.76 last week, Architects blast up sixty-three spots to a new peak of No.13 with “Lost Forever, Lost Together”, whilst The Rolling Stones’ compilation “GRRR” is back up fourteen places to No.26 ahead of their tour occurring this week, which was put on hold until October due to lead singer Mick Jagger’s girlfriend passing away just after they landed here. MKTO have announced their national tour and are appearing at The Logies in May, which helps their former No.1 self-titled album back up fourteen places to No.29 this week, and with Hillsong Church having their recent conference, it helps stall their current album “The White Album” at No.25 and their former No.6 set “We are Young & Free” (by Hillsong Young & Free) to return at No.34. Also back in this week due to touring are Toby Keith with “Drinks After Work” (former peak No.41, Nov 2013) at a new peak of No.37, Lionel Richie and John Farnham are touring together and their collections “The Definitive Collection” (Lionel) and “The Essential 3.0” (Farnham) return at No.42 and No.51 respectively, with Tina Arena’s tour helping her former No.4 album “Reset” to return at No.44 this week. The Eli Young Band sees their “10,000 Towns” album jump up twenty-one places to No.46 after debuting last week.

DOWN DOWN: “True” for Avicii is down six places to No.15, whilst last weeks highest new entry of “Louder” by Lea Michele drops down eighteen places to No.22 this week, and falling fourteen to No.24 is Robbie Williams’ “Swings Both Ways” set. Beyonce drops eight spots to No.27 and INXS’ “Kick” falls twelve spots to No.30. Elbow’s debut from last week falls twenty-one spots this week to No.33 and OneRepublic are down eight to No.35 with “Native” (now ▲ Platinum in sales). Beck falls eighteen spots to No.39 with “Morning Phase”, and after his tour is over, Bruno’s debut set falls seventeen to No.45. Bruce Springsteen drops eighteen to No.49 with “High Hopes” and John Legend is down fourteen to No.50 with “Love in the Future”, whilst falling out of the Top 50 are Daft Punk (39 to 54), James Blunt (37 to 57), Australian Crawl (49 to 61), Paloma Faith (22 to 68), Dolly Parton’s “Blue Smoke” (41 to 75), Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (34 to 79), The Planetshakers (30 to 80), “The Great Country Songbook” for Troy Cassar-Daly & Adam Harvey (20 to 87) which is now certified ▲ Platinum in sales, Justin Timberlake (48 to 89), Buried in Verona (15 to 93) and dropping out of the Top 100 from last weeks fifty are Lior (#23), Calling All Cars (#26) and JTR (#44).

Landing a No.11 debut is George Michael with his album “Symphonica”, becoming his eighth albums chart entry (studio albums and best of) and his first NEW entry since November 2006’s “Twenty-Five: The Best of” (HP-21, peaked when he toured in March 2010). Iceland’s Asgeir sees his first English studio album “In the Silence” enter at No.18 (its his second studio album overall), and current tourist Toby Keith is new at No.19 with his 2008 collection “35 Biggest Hits”, whilst the debut album for local singer/songwriter Morgan Evans is new at No.20.

US indie rock band The War on Drugs see their third album “Lost in the Dream” become their first ARIA Albums Chart entry at No.28, whilst local act The Audreys debut at No.32 with their fourth album “Til My Tears Roll Away”, becoming the groups third Top 40 placing, as they have previously charted with “Sometimes the Stars” (HP-28, Oct 2010) and “When the Flood Comes” (HP-20, April 2008), whilst their first set “Between Last Night and Us” (Aug 2006) reached No.97.

Really not excited with this influx of dance tracks I've yet to hear.

111th Week @ #11151Pharrell Williams - Happy <P>5

Top 108469773
Top 201123212
theory: Pharrell's hat is absurdly large because it has to contain LMFAO's stolen wigs!
I like Pharrell and everything, but we seriously can't find another song to get to #1? Though it's good that it surpasses Katy Perry's chart run
Damn, while Taylor dropped less than I thought he would at this time last week, I had begun to hope he could stay in the top ten for another week.

Hilarious that Pharrell is up to eleven weeks now. I'd prefer 5SOS to somehow take it next week, but if they don't I won't mind seeing another week for Pharrell. And then more!!!
Happy will be a strong contender for the #1 year end spot unless something massive comes out.

11 weeks at the top plus 12 full months of sales to count to year end data he'll be hard to beat.
Broadcast up!

Something I Need
As the Sunnyboys is an expanded 30th Anniversary Edition, it's classed as a new entry on ARIA charts (I think it should be a Re-entry myself).

It was certified Gold at the end of 1981, and must have sold enough since then to be now Platinum, so it should be a re-entry.

(BTW, they fixed The Wiggles Hot Potato on last weeks report, but not Bob Dylan's 30th Anniversary Concert album).

ARIA shouldn't have gave it a platinum certification then, If they really class it as a new entry.

Closer than I expected there.
It took quite some time but it happened... This is the first time there are NO 2012 songs charting inside the top 100 singles chart.
Don't hold your breath Nateboi, The voice starts soon so I am sure we'll be seeing a few re-enter.

Was it Bruno Mars who was lagging around?
Locked Out Of Heaven was the last song however Let Her Go was the song still continuously charting.

There has been much talk over whether the songs from the 5 Seconds of Summer EP will be combined sales with She Looks So Perfect or the individual songs will be eligible to chart separately. I think that anyone who buys the full EP or completes my album function those sales will be allocated to She Looks So Perfect. If one was to purchase just a singular song from the EP that sale will be allocated to the individual song rather than the entire EP meaning the individual song with enough sales would be eligible to chart on its own not under the EP banner.
Just noticed this pattern...

The bold songs are by AU/NZ artists if that helps I didn't figure it out myself either.
Two week gap, one week gap, two week gap, one week gap, two week gap? I dunno.

I have no idea tbh
Not so much an error on the site database but the weekly chartifacts dated 24 March 2014 mention Kylie Minogue's "Kiss Me Once" as being the 550th ARIA #1:

However the previous week's chartifacts dated 17 March 2014 mention Pharrell Williams' G I R L as being the 557th ARIA-era #1:

Which is correct? I'm compiling a list of #1 Australian albums but I can't find points of reference to that would help finish the list:

I had adjusted some info prior to Kylie's "Kiss Me Once" going to the top, so 550 for her is correvct whilst G I R L was the 549th for ARIA (sorry 'bout the confusion).
