Ellie Goulding is spending a fourth week at the top of the ARIA Singles chart with her first No.1 in Australia “Love Me Like You Do”, which now matches the four weeks its spent at the top of the UK Singles chart and it’s parent album here, the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ soundtrack, which leaves the top spot on the albums chart this week.

“Love Me Like You Do” is the first song by a female artist to spend four weeks at the top since the first Meghan Trainor single “All About That Bass” went back to the top for a fourth and final week in September 2014, plus Ellie’s song also becomes the longest continuous run at No.1 here by a female act since Katy Perry returned for a second run at No.1 with “Roar” (from 23-Sept-2013) for weeks four to nine (six week run).

Like it has been for the past few weeks, the top four songs stays stable this week (last week it was 3 of the Top 5), with Rihanna alongside Kanye and Paul McCartney holding on at No.2 with “4-5-Seconds” followed by two further former chart topping songs “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars at No.3 and Omi with his “Cheerleader” at No.4.

Jumping up four places to a new peak of No.5 is LunchMoney Lewis with his debut track “Bills”, whilst Maroon 5 holds at No.6 for a third straight week with their song “Sugar”, plus the track also picks up a ▲Platinum sales certification. Hozier drops down two places to No.7 with “Take Me to Church” but jumping twelve places to No.8 to land his third Top 10 single in Australia is Sam Smith with “Lay Me Down”, helped by the new version as a duet with John Legend, the updated version is the Comic Relief single in the UK for 2015. Sam first hit the Top 10 with his appearance on the Naughty Boy track “La La La” (HP-5, peaked late July 2013) and then “Stay With Me” (HP-5, peaked late June 2014).

After leaping into the Top 10 last week, Ed Sheeran is back down a couple of places to No.9 with his Rudimental infused track “Bloodstream”, whilst the second Top 10 entry this week is Iggy Azalea with Jennifer Hudson on the track “Trouble”, which climbs three places to land at No.10. It becomes the third Top 10 single here for Iggy after “Fancy” (HP-5, peaked June 2014) and she appeared on the Ariana Grande track “Problem” (HP-2, peaked May 2014), whilst it’s the first ever Top 10 entry for Jennifer Hudson here.

UP: Olly Murs and Demi Lovato jump seven places to land a new peak of No.14 with “Up”, which equals the highest placing that Demi has achieved here, previously she charted with The Vamps on their track “Somebody to You”, which made it to No.14 in the first week of July 2014. With Nick Jonas in the country last week on a promo tour (plus playing Mardi Gras in Sydney), his single “Jealous” is up a couple of places to No.15, whilst local act Jarryd James leaps ten places to land a new peak at No.17 with “Do You Remember”. Ariana Grande lands her fifth Top 20 single here this week as her latest track “One Last Time” is up five places to a new peak of No.19 and up four to No.21 are Pitbull and Ne-Yo with “Time of Our Lives”. Skrillex, Diplo and Justin Bieber bullet thirty-five places to No.28 with the collaboration “Where Are U Now” and jumping nine to a new peak of No.30 are Vance Joy with “Georgia”. Redfoo scores a twelve place jump with his latest track “Juicy Wiggle” to No.35 and jumping into the Top 50 for the first time are Prince Royce and Snoop Dogg with “Stuck on a Feeling”, up fourteen spots to No.37, whilst Kelly Clarkson cracks the Top 40, up six to No.38 with her latest “Heartbeat Song”.

DOWN: After eight weeks within the Top 10, Sia drops down three places to No.11 with her track “Elastic Heart” (HP-5x3), but the track does pick up its first certification ever by going ▲Platinum in sales, with the other dropout being Taylor Swift with “Style” (HP-8x3, WI10-4) down two spots to No.12. James Bay is down six spots to No.18 with “Hold Back the River” (now 2x▲Platinum) and Robin Schulz drop seven to No.22 with “Sun Goes Down”. The Weeknd drop eight places to No.26 with “Earned it” which is now Gold (●) in sales and dropping eight to No.34 is the other “Jealous” track by Labrinth. Taylor Swift is down a spot to No.36 with her former No.1 “Shake it Off”, which is newly crowned 6x▲Platinum, whilst Wretch 32 drops seven places to No.40 with “6 Words”, George Ezra is down eleven to No.48 with “Blame it on Me” and down sixteen to No.50 is Timmy Trumpet with his latest “Hipsta”. Mr Ezra’s other entry “Budapest” drops down eleven to No.61, Chris Brown & Tyga’s “Bitches N’ Marijuana” is down twenty-four to No.73 and after entering at No.32 last week, the Lee Kernaghan track “Spirit of the Anzacs” leaves the Top 100 altogether this week.

The highest new entry of the week comes in at No.23, “Lean On” by Major Lazer featuring Danish singer M0 (who last charted on the Iggy Azalea track “Beg for it”) and DJ Snake (now his third Top 100 entry and second Top 50 entry). The song is set to feature on an upcoming Major Lazer album, and it becomes his fifth Top 100 and fourth Top 50 entry, plus also his highest charting single here, beating the No.37 peak his last entry achieved, “Aerosol Can” (HP-37, peaked early March 2014) which featured Pharrell Williams as guest singer.

Kanye West comes in at No.42 with his 38th Top 100 and 23rd Top 50 appearance entitled “All Day” which he recently performed at the 2015 Brit Awards, and this track features Theophilus London (Trinidad rapper now in N.Y.) and Allan Kingdom (from Canada) as guest rappers along with Paul McCartney performing whistling, guitar playing and backing vocals in the last verse, plus the track is taken from his forthcoming album “So Help Me God”.

Lower 50: After tumbling last week, Mashd N Kutcher are back up eight to No.51 with “Do it Now”, and Klingande see their second entry “Riva (Restart the Game)” up five to a new peak of No.56. The Veronicas’ “Cruel” (HP-53) is back up eight to No.57 and G.R.L. see their “Lighthouse” climb back up twelve places to No.64. Hilltop Hoods with Maverick Sabre and Brother Ali (who is American not a local rapper as I stated last week, thanks G.D.), are up thirteen places to No.65 with their latest track “Live and Let Go”, and cracking the third longest charting single in Australian chart history this week is Vance Joy with “Riptide”, which is back up eight places to No.67 on its 99th week within the Top 100. Vallis Alps are up five places to a new peak of No.82 with “Young”, and its continued climb to new chart heights is assured again this week, as Kygo and Conrad are up again to a new peak of No.84 with “Firestone”. With the recent DVD and BluRay release of ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1’, the song from the soundtrack by James Newton Howard and Jennifer Lawrence “The Hanging Tree”, returns at No.89 this week, with other returning tracks being Daniel Johns’ “Aerial Love” at No.95 and now as an EP, and The Script with “Superheroes” at No.96.

UK singer Jess Glynne land her second lead solo single and fifth chart entry as the track “Hold My Hand” comes in at No.69, whilst her first entry “Rather Be” with Clean Bandit is spending its 45th week within the hundred and sitting at No.97 this week. One place lower at No.70 is the first entry for Swedish electro duo Galantis entitled “Runaway (U & I)”, the song having reached No.1 in The Netherlands so far, with the act made up of Christian Karlsson from the group Miike Snow and Linus Eklow from the act Style of Eye.

Just over three years ago (5-March-2012) Carly Rae Jepsen first made her chart entry here with what would go on to become the No.1 song of 2012 “Call Me Maybe”, which spent five weeks at No.1 (from the first week of April 2012). This week she scores her fifth Top 100 chart entry as her new track “I Really Like You” debuts at No.71, and it’s the first track from her forthcoming third studio album (coming July 2015). And the final entry is new at No.98, local artists San Cisco with their fifth chart entry “Too Much Time Together”, which is the second single from their second album “Gracetown” which logically debuts at No.2 this week; first single was “Run” which made it to No.67 at the start of November in 2014.

Madonna lands at No.1 with her thirteenth studio album “Rebel Heart”, which becomes her eleventh No.1 album in Australia (nine studio, two collections) and also her ninth to debut at the top of the ARIA Albums chart since she first did it with “I’m Breathless” (3-June-1990)

“Rebel Heart” becomes the 725th No.1 album in Australia (1965 to 2015) and the 576th for ARIA (1983 to 2015), plus the 22nd chart-topping album for the Interscope label, with their last being back in June 2014, “Ultraviolence” by Lana Del Rey. Madonna last debuted at the top with her twelfth album almost three years, “MDNA” entered 2-April-2012, staying at the top for a single week, whilst this new No.1 for her takes her accumulated tally at the top of the Australian Albums chart to nineteen weeks, placing her equal 24th on the list of artists for ‘Most Accumulated Weeks at No.1: Albums’ alongside The Twelfth Man (7 albums) and E.L.O. (3 albums).

Madonna is now equal second alongside U2 on the listing for ‘Most No.1 Albums in Australia’ with The Beatles at the top with fourteen, and she moves ahead of Jimmy Barnes with his ten No.1 albums, whilst Bon Jovi are in fifth place with nine chart-topping albums. “Rebel Heart” is also the first album to feature the word ‘Rebel’ in its title (the previous highest album with that word was Michael Franti & Spearhead with “All Rebel Rockers” HP-18, August 2008), and it’s the seventh with the word “Heart(s)” to reach the top, the last being Paulini with “One Determined Heart” (2-Aug-2004). The album also becomes the 265th by an American artist and the 109th by a Female artist to reach the top, the same album is also the last to feature on both of those lists, “Title” by Meghan Trainor.

Fremantle, Perth foursome San Cisco see their second studio album entitled “Gracetown” enter at No.2 this week, which by doing so becomes their first Top 10 album, as their self titled first album debuted and peaked at No.17 in early December 2012. This new album has already seen the song “Run” make it to No.67 in November 2014 and they just debuted at No.98 this week with “Too Much Time Together”.

Taylor Swift drops back down a place to No.3 with her “1989” album, whilst the former No.1 album for the past four weeks, the “Fifty Shades of Grey” soundtrack drops down to No.4 this week, and also down a spot is Sam Smith with “In the Lonely Hour” to No.5. Holding steady this week are Ed Sheeran with “x” and Meghan Trainor with “Title” at No.6 and No.7 respectively.

Former Oasis lead singer Liam Gallagher and his new act High Flying Birds saw their second album “Chasing Yesterday” debut at the top of the UK Albums chart this past week, here though it comes in at No.8, surpassing the No.16 debut and peak of their self-titled first album from late October 2012. One place lower at No.9 is former X-Factor 2012 finalist Jason Owen with his second album and Top 10 debut entitled “Friday Night”, with his first set “Life is a Highway” making it to No.5 in May 2013. Rounding out the Top 10, down five places to No.10 is Kelly Clarkson with her latest album “Piece by Piece” which debuted last week at No.5.

UP: With the recent tour here for The Eagles, their collection “Selected Works 1972-1999” is back up to its former peak of No.11 this week (last September) and helped by their Future Music Festival shows this past week, The Hilltop Hoods are back up four to No.12 with “Walking Under Stars”. Hozier is touring here at the end of March, and his self-titled album is back up to No.14, with Maroon 5 continuing to climb back up with “V” to No.21 this week. London Grammar’s tour here this week sees their former No.2 album “If You Wait” leap back up forty-eight places to land at No.28, whilst another Eagles set “The Complete Greatest Hits” is back up eleven places to No.29. Holding at No.32 is the soundtrack for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix 1” which goes from Gold in sales to newly crowned 2x▲Platinum certification, and returning to the Top 50 are “Bon Jovi Greatest Hits” (62 to 44), “Stay Gold” for First Aid Kit (re-entry at #45), Guns N’ Roses’ “Greatest Hits” (69 to 47) and “The Very Best of” Fleetwood Mac (94 to 50).

DOWN: The four albums leaving the Top 10 include last weeks highest new entry “Fan of a Fan” for Chris Brown and Tyga (3 to 16, WI10-1), both Foo Fighters albums drop out now that their tour is over, “Greatest Hits” (8 to 18, WI10-13) and “Sonic Highways” (9 to 24, WI10-9) and also finishing up his tour here last week is Drake whose latest “If You’re Reading This it’s Too Late” drops from No.10 to #27 (WI10-3). George Ezra drops eight to No.19 with “Wanted on Voyage”, after debuting at No.12 last week “Jack U” for Skrillex and Diplo drops fourteen places to No.26, whilst the Led Zeppelin returnee at No.13 “Physical Graffiti” is down twenty-four to No.37. Purity Ring see their album “Another Eternity” down ten to No.35, Jason Aldean drops fourteen to No.38 with “Old Boots, New Dirt” and Fall Out Boy are down eight to No.46 with “American Beauty/American Psycho”. Leaving from last weeks fifty into the lower chart are Royal Blood (36 to 59), Rise Against (29 to 63), Robin Schulz (37 to 64), Big Sean (42 to 66), Marilyn Manson (45 to 72), The Avener (35 to 75), Falling in Reverse (41 to 83) and Roxette with “The 30 Biggest Hits” (33 to 93), whilst exiting the hundred from last weeks fifty is Tori Darke with her album “Silver Lining” (#47).

Apart from the four debuts within the Top 10 this week, the only other new Top 50 entry comes in at No.40, the self-titled second album for Nick Jonas, which surpasses the No.46 peak his previous entry with his side-band Nick Jonas & The Administration achieved with the set entitled “Who I Am” (15-Feb-2010), and this current album benefits from his recent promo tour here last week and his current No.15 single “Jealous”.

The 26th album for local trumpeter and jazz musician James Morrison comes in at No.67 entitled “A to Z of Jazz”, and its his eighth ARIA Albums chart entry, and his first since he teamed with Deni Hines on the album “The Other Woman” (HP-86, Jan 2008). And the final entry of the week is the first new entry in just over ten years for Shania Twain, coming in at No.78 is “Still the One: Live in Vegas”, with her last entry being her “Greatest Hits” set which debuted and peaked at No.10 in November 2004, but left the charts in the first week of March 2005 (7th of March).

Sandstorm
X3 + & - of this weeks chart.

+ "Love Me Like You Do" spending a fourth week at #01.

+ "Jealous" getting a new peak at #15.

+ "The Heartbeat Song" getting a new peak at #38.

- "Riptide" becoming the third longest charting song in the top 100 ever. (Thanks Streaming!)

- "Sandstorm" missing a re-entry by a whisker.

- "Juicy Wiggle" getting a new peak at #35.
I think in Riptide's defence (I don't know why I'm defending it), it's been pretty healthy around the #70 mark, so sales might keep it in the top 100 anyway.
Riptide is a re-entry at #20 this week on the Australian-Artists Singles Chart. San Cisco is #19 & it's #98 on the actual chart. So that tells me Riptide would actually be out of the top 100 if streaming wasn't included.
Ah, but San Cisco would be higher than #98 on sales alone
Kendrick Lamar's new album is now out on iTunes and Spotify.
Struggling to contain my fire emojis.

#1 on iTunes too. Surely 4000ish sales for #1 isn't too hard to ask for?!

It's a pretty weak release week too. Modest Mouse, and British India are the biggest challengers?

Also, also just got to 'u' and it's been a wild ride so far.
Yeah, I reckon Taylor Swift would be the best contender for #1 this week so far. Didn't even realise Modest Mouse were out this week oops.
I wouldn't rule out Lee Kernaghan either.

Question for chartoholics who know the archives better than me:
