The 1973 Pop-O-Meter chart continued on from 1972 and was based on what they called 'measured sales'. My thanks to Dean Scapolo for helping me fill in the gaps.

I assume The Moody Blues "Nights In White Satin" was a re-release? As the song was originally released in 1967 on the "Days Of Future Passed" album & as a single in other countries in 1967/68...
Hi Album Guru Joe, yes your quite right it is a re-release it was also released as a single here in Australia in 1972/73.

Regards John.
Hi Album Guru Joe, just to clarify there were three versions of "Nights In White Satin" as you say there was a 1967 release which was released in England & N.Z. on Deram DM 161 which went for 4min 22, an Australian release in 1972/73 on Deram DMA 10029 which went for 5min 37 & also the L.P. version which was on "The Days Of Future Passed" album which went for 7min 41.

Regards John.
Thanks John for the singles info, but the album track, well the actual song does only go for about 5 minutes but is proceeded by about a minutes worth of orchestration linking it to the previous track and is succeeded by a minutes worth of orchestration and spoken word poetry to close the album... As the album is a concept album of a "day" (24 hours).....giving the track a total seven plus minute length....Brilliant album...

Hi Album Guru Joe, I actually got my info by just typing in "Nights In White Satin" in the search section of this chart were on now,I forgot to mention, here in Austrlia the album was released in 1967, but for some reason the single wasn't releasead until 1972/73.

Regards John.
G'day John, not quite sure as to why your providing me info on the album "Days Of Future Passed" as I know everything concerning the album.....but anyways..

I would say the single was released as part of a marketing ploy to cash in on the groups biggest selling album globally (and most successful in Australia)... 1972's "Seventh Sojourn" (reached no.#2 in Aust).... just a guess, but seems most plausible too me.
The song was a US #2 in 1972, FYI Y'all
Great song, great album... Need I say more

Hi Tempest, how was your A.N.Z.A.C. Day?
Sorry for being a pest all the time, but just a slight typo for the charts dated 19-1-73, 12-1-73, 5-1-73, 22-12-72, 24-11-72, 17-11-72 & 10-11-72 as well as the forcast 27-10-72 you have "Hayken's" it's "Heyken's".

Once again sorry for being so picky.

Regards John.
Hi John. How the hell I keep messing that one I up I don't know. Thank the Lord its now left. I had a great ANZAC day thank, hope it was great for you too. And thanx for the correction.

Hi Tempest, just a slight typo you've got "Cum On Feel The Moize" it's "Noize". I've also noticed that over the past few weeks you've ony be doing the charts 4 or 5 days a week, when you used to do them 6 days a week, you've probably been busy researching for your month long tribute to the "40th anniversary" charts.

Anyway keep up the good work. I'm really looking forward "Top 1,000" chart starting Sunday.

Regards John.
Thanx, John. It was just a typo. All fixed.
I think I may have missed a day last week as I got busy. The Top 1000 I finished last night so it's all set to go for the countdown from Sunday. While I am doing this there will be no 1973 charts but I will resume this afterwards, hopefully at 6 charts per week.

hi tempest, Dueling Banjos - Deliverance-Soundtrack (New entry on March 16, 1973) - artists are Eric Weissberg and Steve Mandell (some pressings shown only Eric Weissberg, some Deliverance)
Regards johnnyguitar
That was a tricky one johnnyguitar. In the end I used Deliverance' Soundtrack/Eric Weissenberg as written in NZ Listener. There are so may variations in that one.
Hi Tempest, just thought I'd put in my 2 cents worth on the "Dueling Banjos" issue, your right it is very confuseing, as over here in Australia it's listed as "Eric Weiss and His Banjos".

Regards John.
Dean Scapolo lists it in his book as Eric Weissberg and Steve Mandell. The Guinnes British Hit Singles book lists it as 'Deliverance' Soundtrack. Huh????

Hi Tempest, just a slight typo, You've got "John McCrae" but according to "Dean Scapolo's" book it's "John McRae" with only one "C".

Regards John.
Hi Tempest, I just double checked, it's "Macrae" not "Mc" sorry my mistake.

Regards John.
Thanx John. Did you know he was a New Zealand artist?
Hi Tempest, no I didn't know, not till I looked it up in "Dean's" book. I've to find his music on "You Tube" but no luck.

Regards John.

13... I absolutely love this track...It's 1/2 The Beatles, George & Ringo rockin' it together...

Keep up the great work mate...
Thanx.
The Ringo Starr song Photograph is taken from his biggest album Ringo. All four Beatles appear on the album but never together.

G'day, regarding your comment on Ringo's 1973 album "Ringo", there was one track where three of The Beatles performed together... that being the Lennon composed track "I'm The Greatest", where John, George & Ringo feature on the track. But you are correct that all four where never in the studio together during those sessions.... "Photograph", "Sunshine Life For Me (Sail Away Raymond)" and "You And Me (Babe) feature Ringo & George and "Six O'clock" features Ringo & Paul.

Easily Ringo's best album...with a little help from he's friends
