Holding for a third week on top of the ARIA Singles chart is the song from the ‘Furious 7’ soundtrack by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth entitled “See You Again”.

When the track first leapt to No.1 three weeks ago, Australia was one of the first countries to place it at the top of their charts, and in last weeks report I mentioned how it had also jumped to No.1 in four other countries. Well this week “See You Again” is at the top of over twenty international charts, debuting at the top this past week in Belgium, Denmark, Finland and Sweden, but more-so it bulleted to the top in Austria (54 to 1), Canada (22 to 1), Ireland (9 to 1), Norway (15 to 1), Portugal (18 to 1) and England (22 to 1) and almost made it to the top in France (35 to 2). Plus throughout Asia it’s at the top in Singapore, Indonesia, The Philippines, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.

Former No.1 “Lean On” by Major Lazer, M0 & DJ Snake holds at No.2 for a third week, but climbing four places to a new peak of No.3 and equaling it’s February 2011 debut position in his homeland of Ireland is recent tourist here Jamie Lawson (with Ed Sheeran) and his track “Wasn’t Expecting That”, whilst also landing a new peak is Jason DeRulo with “Want to Want Me”, up two places to No.4, becoming his eleventh Top 5 single in Australia and now all four lead-singles from his albums have reached the Top 5 here, plus we and New Zealand are the two countries who have placed it this high.

Last week “Shut Up & Dance” for US act Walk the Moon jumped into the Top 20, this week it leaps up twelve places to land at a new peak of No.5, making Australia its highest charting placing so far. It is spending its second week in the US Top 10 (#8) and just entered the Canadian Top 10 at No.9 (up from 15) this week. Down one spot to No.6 is Jarryd James with his former No.2 track “Do You Remember”, but dropping four to No.7 after peaking at No.3 last week is Skrillex & Diplo (aka Jack U) with Justin Bieber on “Where Are U Now”, whilst the same four places drop occurs for Galantis with “Runaway (U & I)” down to No.8. Holding at their peak of No.9 for a second week is Years & Years with “King” and after one week out of the Top 10, Sam Smith with John Legend are back up one spot to No.10 with “Lay Me Down” (HP-3), notching up a six overall week within the ten and it’s helped back up by Sam’s national tour starting here this weekend.

UP: Natalie La Rose and Jeremih are up four places to a new peak of No.12, which also gives Jeremih his highest chart placing here, beating the No.14 peak his last hit “Don’t Tell ‘em” achieved back in late December 2014, but leaping into the Top 20, both up eleven places apiece are Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor with “Marvin Gaye” and Jess Glynne with her former UK No.1 (for 3 weeks) “Hold My Hand” at No.14 and No.16 respectively. Rachel Platten jumps up seven spots to a new peak of No.25 with “Fight Song” and James Bay lands his second Top 30 hit this week as “Let it Go” is up eight spots to No.26. Last weeks debut for David Guetta, Nicki Minaj and Afrojack for the track “Hey Mama” is this week’s highest flying track, up a massive sixty-three places to No.27 which in turns means that all six singles from David’s album “Listen” have now reached the Top 30 here. Sia and her “Elastic Heart” are stable at No.28 this week and the track is the only new certification within the Top 100, now ranked at 2x▲Platinum in sales, whilst her recent entry “Big Girls Cry” (HP-36) is back up eleven places to No.37 after her recent return to our shores. Kendrick Lamar returned to the Top 50 last week with “King Kunta”, which this week is up eight places to a new peak of No.35 and thanks to his tour starting in Brisbane on the 25th of April, Sam Smith sees two of his older tracks returning to the Top 50, with “Stay With Me” (55 to 38) and it’s follow-up “I’m Not the Only One” (71 to 50), whilst also returning to the fifty is Paloma Faith who starts her national tour on the 5th of May in Melbourne; her former No.1 “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” leaps back up forty-one spots to No.48, and landing within the Top 50 for the first time, up nine spots to No.42 is current European Top 10 single “Firestone” for Kygo and guest vocalist Conrad (Sewell), who is also within the Top 50 with “Hold Me Up” (TW-49).

DOWN: LunchMoney Lewis and his “Bills” drop three places to No.11 this week after seven weeks within the Top 10, two of them at No.1, and another former No.1 in the Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars collaboration “Uptown Funk” also drops three spots to No.13 after a massive twenty-one weeks within the Top 10, six of those at the No.1 position. “Uptown Funk” now ranks equal third for the longest run in the Top 10 in Australia alongside “Bohemian Rhapsody” for Queen (1976 & 1992), “Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker Jr. (1984), “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley (1987/88), “I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker” for Sandi Thom” (2006/7) “I Gotta Feeling” for The Black Eyed Peas (2009) and most recently “Roar” by Katy Perry” (2013). “4-5-Seconds” for Rihanna is down six to No.19 and Pitbull and Ne-Yo dive six to No.24 with “Time of Our Lives”, with Hozier dropping with both tracks; “Take Me to Church” (19 to 23) and “Someone New” (24 to 31). Meghan Trainor drops down ten spots to No.43 with “Dear Future Husband” and down eight to No.47 is Avicii with “The Nights”, dropping hard out of last weeks Top 50 are Kelly Clarkson with “Heartbeat Song” (46 to 59). “Blank Space” for Taylor Swift (49 to 61) and “Ride Out” for YG (47 to 68).

Other than David Guetta and his huge rise into the Top 50 with “Hey Mama”, the highest new entry this week is in at No.45, “Nobody Love” by Tori Kelly who is a 22 year old singer/songwriter from California who has been posting YouTube clips since she was 14, auditioned and got into the Top 24 for Season 9 of “American Idol” (she progressed no further though) and is set to release her debut album “Unbreakable Smile” in July, with the song also debuting in the New Zealand Top 40 this week (#32) and it is currently within the US and Canadian Top 100’s.

Lower 50: Florence + the Machine blast up forty-one places to No.52 with “Ship to Wreck” and also scoring new peaks are Deorro and Chris Brown with “Five More Hours” up to No.55 and Tinashe and Iggy Azalea with “All Hands on Deck (Remix)” up eighteen spots to No.56. Sam Smith’s fourth Top 100 entry “Like I Can” is back up eighteen places to No.66, whilst up a single place to a new peak of No.71 is Japanese Wallpaper with “Forces”. Fifth Harmony are up four to No.82 with “Worth it” and re-entries this week are lead by Lee Kernaghan with “Spirit of the ANZACS” at No.79, a new peak of No.88 for Asta and AllDay with “Dynamite”, Vance Joy are back in at No.90 with “Mess is Mine” (as featured in the current KFC ads), and The Avener returns at No.98 with “Fade Out Lines”.

British producer, DJ and remixer Alex Adair debuts at No.51 with his first single “Make Me Feel Better” the song having reached No.13 in early March in the UK and Alex recently remixed the Ed Sheeran former No.1 “Thinking out Loud” (TW-32), whilst the next new entry occurs at No.65, Rihanna with “American Oxygen”, which is the third entry from her forthcoming eighth studio album after “4-5-Seconds” (TW-19) and “Bitch Better Have My Money” (TW-34) and becomes her 48th Top 100 chart entry in Australia.

French nu disco DJ and producer Martin Solveig scores his fifth ARIA Top 100 Singles chart entry this week by debuting at No.81 with “Intoxicated” featuring GTA. Martin’s highest charting single here was the 2010 track “Hello” which reached No.13 in February 2011. And the final entry at No.95 is Usher and Juicy J with “I Don't Mind” becoming the 39th Top 100 entry for Usher and the third track to be lifted from his forthcoming album “UR” (no date known yet) after “Good Kisser” (HP-44, May 2014) and “She Came to Give it to You” (HP-32, peaked Sept 2014), whilst Usher is also on the charts at No.64 on the latest Martin Garrix track “Don’t Look Down”.

Sam Smith takes the No.1 spot on the ARIA Albums chart for the first time with his debut album “In the Lonely Hour”, the set helped by his national tour starting the 25th of April and it jumps up four places after having spent 48 weeks on the charts and this is the sets 37th week within the Top 10.

“In the Lonely Hour” becomes the 728th No.1 album in Australia (1965 to 2014) and the 579th for ARIA (1983 to 2014), plus the sixteenth for the Capitol label, with their last being The Madden Brothers back in September 2014. As I mentioned the album has taken 48 weeks to climb to the top spot, as most albums these days debut at the top and then decline, but this is not the longest climb to the top, that achievement went to the INXS’ set “The Very Best” (TW-37) which took 77 weeks to reach No.1 back on the February 17th in 2014.

This is the eight album with ‘In the’ within its title, the last being Bliss N’ Eso with “Circus in the Sky” (July 2013), whilst it is only the second with ‘Lonely’ to reach No.1, the other being The Beatles classic “Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band” (from 5-Aug-1967 for 30 weeks) and the closest ‘Hour’ at the top in the past was with the You Am I set “Hourly Daily” (7th July, 1996). Sam Smith is the first British act to top our charts for 2015, the last being Ed Sheeran with his “x” album in the last week of 2014, whilst the last new No.1 for England was One Direction and “Four” (24-Nov-2014), and Sam’s album becomes the 139th No.1 by an English act to hit the top here. He is also the 203rd Solo Male artist to hit the top, the 67th English Artist to make it to the top of our charts, and also the 25th Solo English Artist to achieve a chart-topping album in Australia.

So after four weeks Lee Kernaghan loses the top spot for his album “Spirit of the ANZACS”, which could go back to top next week as this weekend sees ANZAC day celebrations across Australia and New Zealand (25th April), but for now he is sitting at No.2. Holding for a third week at its peak of No.3 is the soundtrack for “Fast & Furious 7” and also on hold at No.4 (in it’s 44th week within the Top 10) is recent tourist Ed Sheeran with “x” which is at No.1 in New Zealand this week after his tour there.

The first of three consecutive Top 10 debuts this week comes from Sydney four-piece Gang of Youths with their first album entitled “Positions” coming in at No.5. New at No.6 are the duo Alabama Shakes with their second studio and first Top 10 album “Sound & Color”, which beats their debut set “Boys & Girls” which peaked at No.36 in February 2013 after having initially charted back in mid-April 2012.

The third and final Top 10 entry is in at No.7, the fifth studio album for the seventh Australian Idol winner (2009) Stan Walker entitled “Truth & Soul”, which is a covers album of 1960’s and 70’s soul songs plus it features duets with Samantha Jade, Dami Im and Fourtunate. The album becomes his fourth to chart here and his third Top 10 album after his debut set “Introducing…” (HP-3, Dec 2009) followed by his second entry “From the Inside Out” (HP-2, Aug 2010). Dropping two places each are Taylor Swift with “1989” and Meghan Trainor with “Title” to No.8 and No.9 respectively, with Meghan picking up a ▲Platinum certification for her set. Last weeks highest new entry at No.2 for the Wombats entitled “Glitterbug” drops eight places to No.10 this week.

UP: Sia is back up four places to No.12 with her “1000 Forms of Fear” album, with the album scoring its first ▲Platinum cert this week, and after returning to the chart last week at No.17, AC/DC’s “Rock or Bust” is back up to No.14 this week, and this weeks highest re-entry is at No.23, Paul Kelly with “The Merri Soul Sessions” (HP-17). The 20th Anniversary edition of “Frogstomp” for Silverchair is back up to No.31 this week and George Ezra is up eight to No.33 with “Wanted on Voyage”, which is also newly crowned ▲Platinum in sales.

DOWN: The self-titled album for Hozier (HP-3) is down three this week to No.11 after eleven accumulated weeks within the Top 10, then down four to No.13 is Kendrick Lamar with “To Pimp a Butterfly” (HP-1x1) after five weeks in the ten and after three broken weeks inside the Top 10, “Chaos and the Calm” for James Bay this week drops six spots to No.16. Van Morrison is down ten to No.25 with his “Duets” album, after debuting at No.18 last week the debut set for Shawn Mendes “Handwritten” drops nine places to No.27 this week. All Time Low plummet twenty-one to No.32 with “Future Hearts”, “Run” for Alison Wonderland is down eight to No.34 and Sufjan Stevens and his “Carrie & Lowell” album is down ten to No.35. The Veronicas’ self-titled set drops back down sixteen to No.45, “V” for Maroon 5 is down fifteen spots to No.47 and dropping down from last weeks fifty are Beccy Cole (19 to 52), The Prodigy (37 to 56), Imagine Dragons (40 to 59), Troy Cassar-Daly (49 to 71), Tyler, The Creator (13 to 81), and falling out of the Top 100 from last weeks fifty are Judith Durham (#44) and Dwight Yoakim (#46).

Passenger debuts at No.17 with his sixth studio album “Whispers II”, with all money from the album going to the UK UNICEF program. This is a whole new album, not a repackaging of his fifth set “Whispers” (HP-2, June 2014) and it becomes his third albums chart entry here, as his fourth album “All the Little Lights” eventually went to No.2 in April 2013 after having first debuted in March 2012. The second Top 20 debut is the third album for US hip hop artist Yelawolf who is signed to the Shady record label (Eminem’s label), and his album “Love Story” becomes his first albums chart entry here this week, with the albums lead single “Till it’s Gone” having reached No.70 in late September of 2014.

Melbourne three-piece band Dallas Frasca (also the lead singers name) debut at No.29 with their first ARIA Albums chart entry and third studio album entitled “Love Army”. And one place lower at No.30 is the third entry and studio set for US act Passion Pit entitled “Kindred”. The band’s first entry was “Manners” which debuted and peaked at No.19 in May 2009, followed by “Gossamer” which reached No.12 upon entry in late July 2012.

Nana Mouskouri was in the country for shows recently, performing in Melbourne on the 14th of April, and her latest collection “Happy Birthday Tour” enters at No.41, with the tour having started in Europe almost two years ago for her 80th birthday. Nana was last on our charts back in May 1989 with the best of set “The Magic of” (HP-71). In time for the upcoming Australian Mothers’ Day comes the debut at No.44 “Viva la Dolce Vita” by Italian crooner Patrizio Buanne, becoming his fifth album to chart here (four studio and one best of), with his last entry being his fifth album “Patrizio” which made it to No.17 back in late September of 2009. The final entry to the fifty is new at No.50, Dr. Hook with the collection entitled “Timeless”, becoming the bands fifth best of set to chart here and their first since “The Definitive Collection” climbed to No.30 for two weeks in late April 2003.

Lower 50: “Jukebox” for Human Nature is back up twenty-five spots to No.55, OneDay returns to the hundred at No.62 with “Mainline”, “Piece by Piece” by Kelly Clarkson jumps back up twenty-one spots to No.66, Air Supply and their “Ultimate Collection” is back up fifteen rungs to No.74, “Down to Earth” for Flight Facilities returns at No.76, “21” by Adele is back in at No.88 and newly certified 15x▲Platinum (that as much as ‘Innocent Eyes” by Delta Goodrem, “Come on Over” by Shania Twain and “Greatest Hits” for Queen), back in at No.95 is Violent Soho with “Hungry Ghost” and at No.99 the “Greatest Hits” set for Guns N’ Roses also returns.

The only new entry in the lower fifty is at No.92, Frank Sinatra with the 2CD or 3CD collection “Ultimate Sinatra” with his last collection being the November 2011 set “Best of the Best” (HP-36), and this becomes his tenth collection to chart in Australia.

I have a bone to pick with the anti-rap brigade because they are the absolute worst.

This is tune city.
Why on earth has Stay With Me moved up?
This is randomly getting bigger, it's really weird. [4]
Sam Smith is touring around about now, but also there was something about him on 60 Minutes last week.
King Kunta
34v331414Rihanna - Bitch Better Have My Money

If the murky drum beat was a little better it'd be nearly the best Rihanna track ever.
This is doing worse then expected which I'm thrilled about, it's really weird. [5]
The video is supposed to come out soon so hopefully that helps it gain momentum so that it can at least get back to the top 20

Better than What I Did For Love and Lovers On The Sun, hopefully it can be a decent sized hit
I'll enjoy this fence then

Maybe it'll grow on me though. At least it's utilising Nicki far better than Turn Me On ever did.
NEW PEAK #126^834626James Bay - Let It Go

This having a decent run despite it's un-hit like sound, it's really weird. [10]
NEW PEAK #225^732525Rachel Platten - Fight Song

I kinda like this, it's really weird. [11]
24v6181312Pitbull & Ne-Yo - Time Of Our Lives <G>

This sounds too much like Give Me Everything, it's really weird. [12]
I like how this hasn't taken off completely. 2015 has given me mild hope that perhaps Australia is tiring of the schtick of both Pitbull and Redfoo.
23v419242Hozier - Take Me To Church <P>4

22v220171Omi - Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix) <P>4

Poor Omi, the True Steppers of our generation
This chart run it's having for a #1 hit by todays standards, it's really weird. [13]

21HOLD211010Iggy Azalea - Trouble <G>

This barely made the Top 10 despite this acts fame, it's really weird. [14]
20^2221114Olly Murs (feat Demi Lovato) - Up <G>

19v613131Rihanna, Paul McCartney & Kanye West - FourFiveSeconds <P>2

Paul McCartney getting a #1 hit in 2015, it's really weird. [15]
18v414131Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do <P>

Back ahead of FourFiveSeconds again
To see 50 Shades Of Grey have a big effect on the Charts this year, it's really weird. [16]
All #1s must be in the wrong chronological order! Uptown Funk to overtake Bills next week!
17v2151115Vance Joy - Georgia <G>

I can't believe it's not on a TV ad
Seeing this take a while to become a hit, it's really weird. [17]
NEW PEAK #316^1127716Jess Glynne - Hold My Hand

I swear if this hadn't so barely been beaten to the top 10 by Charlie on iTunes the other day, this'd be riding into the top 10 next week Top 20 still pretty neat tho ^.^
A filler track going #1 in the UK and Top 20 here, it's really weird. [18]
For something that spent a fair chunk of a week inside the top ten on iTunes, Georgia has a low peak. Annoying.
15v312146Maroon 5 - Sugar <P>

NEW PEAK #414^1125614Charlie Puth (feat Meghan Trainor) - Marvin Gaye

Not bothered by Georgia not going top 10. I hope Hold My Hand has a chance at top 10 though.

Hopefully this piece of shit doesn't go top 5 next week or the week after

A name for a verb, it's really weird. [19]
Hold My Hand actually beat this to the iTunes top ten, it was #10 for several minutes before Charlie moved in. Either way, this isn't worthy.
Haha, I remember I saw on kworb in the morning that Jess was tied for #10 but I never actually saw her there so I wasn't sure if it was #10 or #11. I think though with a little more time she could have done it!
13v310231Mark Ronson (feat Bruno Mars) - Uptown Funk <P>6

NEW PEAK #512^416512Natalie La Rose (feat Jeremih) - Somebody

Lol at this. Uptown Funk's glorious top 10 run is over now
Poor DJ Mustard
I wouldn't have seen it except I've been staking out iTunes constantly lately as a certain song has been climbing higher and higher.
Sounding like Whitney Houston, it's really weird. [20]

11v38101LunchMoney Lewis - Bills <P>

I love how quickly Australia is getting over this, it's really weird. [21]
And Bills plummets quickly just like Albatraoz, Selfie and things of that ilk? I hope so!
Dropping a bit too quickly for my likely Boo at Sam Smith back in the top 10!
10^111113Sam Smith - Lay Me Down <P>

This getting back in the Top 10, it's really weird. [22]
I think Bills *could* stick around a little longer if it ever really catches on in the US and inevitably becomes viral content bait. In the short term it'll probably drop though because they deleted the main version and iTunes just has a silly clean edit

9PEAK HOLD969Years & Years - King

Looks like it may be stuck with this peak, #9 is pretty good though I guess
A track called King not actually a King on the charts (#1 peak), it's really weird. [23]
8v4474Galantis - Runaway (U & I) <G>

That sudden drop, it's really weird. [24]
Pity it's already starting to drop but at least it made the top 5!
7v4383Skrillex & Diplo (feat Justin Bieber) - Where Are U Now <G>

Another sudden drop, it's really weird. [25]
I hope this doesn't stick around due to growing international presence
I don't really mind if it doesn't have much longevity, it's already done the job of being his highest peaker (even if it's shared with Baby)
6v15122Jarryd James - Do You Remember

My fandom for a track like this, it's really weird. [26]

NEW PEAK #65^121745Walk The Moon - Shut Up & Dance

This sounds so much like FOB it's scary and it's really weird. [27]
Shut Up And Dance hit the top five and I jizzed in my pants.
This is cool, wouldn't have a problem with it going top 2. Especially if it came down to this and Jamie Lawson
NEW PEAK #74^2664Jason Derulo - Want To Want Me <G>

*silently cheers*
Jason Derulo still relevant in 2015, it's really weird. [28]
NEW PEAK #83^4733Jamie Lawson - Wasn't Expecting That

I like this even more then ANYTHING Ed Sheeran has ever done, it's really weird. [29]
Awesome to see this in the top three!
Go no further thank you very much
2HOLD271Major Lazer (feat MØ & DJ Snake) - Lean On <P>

This actually hit #1, it's really weird. [30]
13RD EVER WEEK @ #1151Wiz Khalifa (feat Charlie Puth) - See You Again <P>

Top 1098575
Top 2032311
This tracks ridiculous sales figures, it's really weird. [31]
Can this hurry up and just get knocked off #1 somewhere, ruining charts atm
It would be awes if Jason moved up to #2 to cock-block Jamie.

Has anyone seen the movie? Does it actually get used in that, because if so we're probably stuck with it for a little while yet. Unless someone else dies.

#2 next week at this rate should be Walk The Moon or Major Lazer I think.

I know it's in the movie, right near the end and all sorts of tear-jerker.

Ooh go Adele with the new cert!

I've never seen any of the Fast & Furious moofies. Cars are among the most boring topics of conversation to me.
I think I've seen maybe one or two but always got bored less than 20 minutes in That being said, this new one has been getting good reception, so maybe I'll see it one day when it ends up on the TV circuit.
I haven't seen it but know the track gets used in the movie.
No point watching the 7th if I haven't seen the others in full.
Lol I haven't watched any of them either. Cars don't interest me like they do basically every male I know
The song gets played at the end and through a bit of the credits.

Make Me Feel Better On a positive note it's nice to see Shake It Off out of the top 50!
Dammit I was hoping Lee would hold on to #1 this week.
Considering how big In The Lonely Hour has been it definitely deserved at least one week at #1. Kinda hard to imagine that Sam's first week didn't manage to debut higher than Coldplay's 2nd.
That's only with hindsight though, because at that stage his album had only spawned one big hit I don't recall any sales figures appearing that week but Coldplay might have almost outsold him 2:1 that week.
Yeah but right now if they both released an album I'd give Sam a decent chance to outsell them. Amazed at both Sam's and Ed's consistency. I see them both having a chance at Top 10 on BOAT. Frozen too

Ooh, I suppose it depends on the promo blitz. If you want a good comparison, Ed Sheeran opened with a whole 5,000ish less than Coldplay last year, and that was coming off a similarly huge era.
'Stay With Me' is the 5th song of the ARIA era to crack 50+ weeks in the Top 50. That's enough
'Dancing In The Dark' was first in 1984/85, the next didn't happen until 2011. With the increasing frequency, it's only a matter of time until the 53 wk record is broken I think.
Figures updated
Ooh, Foolish perhaps Alpine's second biggest hit then! I imagine Gasoline peaked between #101-#110.

Wiz might only do around 35K next week, so it'll be hard to tell if it can get the EOY #1
In my opinion, Wiz's shot at EOY #1 depends on how long it hangs around after it leaves the top spot, in which I think won't be very long...
That might depend on radio. It'll have peaked on airplay on this Thursday's chart and have no room to grow, and I imagine once the event is past, they'll be quick to want to take this dreary song out of rotation. I think though the public will still receive it strongly as long as they keep hearing it.
Don't know whether See You Again will be #1 on the EOY but here are sales for both Uptown Funk and See You Again so far:

Uptown Funk: 344,500
See You Again: 151,800

The latter is likely to get a boost once the Furious 7 DVD is released early August.
Is that with or without streaming? I imagine ARIA would include it but they still have sales only charts + I don't think they did last year, so not totally sure. In saying that, it's hard to say which of the two would benefit more from it.

Thanks for doing that though, I was tempted to do it myself so that's some time saved
That's with streaming. I'm pretty sure that ARIA would include them in the EOY chart as they include it in the official weekly charts. Moreover they were probably included in the 2014 YEC.
