Macklemore & Ryan Lewis with their ensemble of 70’s, 80’s and 90’s funk masters remain at No.1 for a second week on the ARIA Singles chart with their track “Downtown”.

The duo of Mack & Ryan have now accumulated fourteen weeks at No.1 this decade in Australia, and that puts them equal fourth on the list of ‘Most Weeks at No.1: 2010’s’ alongside the fourteen weeks that Flo Rida notched up with his two chart-toppers for this decade, so if Macklemore & Ryan Lewis stay for another week they will become outright fourth, whilst the top three acts at the moment are Rihanna (21 weeks), Pharrell Williams (21 weeks) and LMFAO (19 weeks).

Justin Bieber’s promo tour may be over, but his profile has not waned in the past week, and his former No.1 “What Do You Mean?” is still on hold at No.2, whilst this weeks visitor to our shores Ellie Goulding is up four places to No.3 with her latest hit “On My Mind”, whilst she performed at the AFL Grand Final last weekend, she also sang the song on X-Factor on Tuesday night, which all helps it to become her third Top 3 single here.

Ellie’s jump pushes last weeks No.3 track for Robin Schulz, “Sugar”, down a place to No.4 whilst NRL Grand Final performer Jessica Mauboy is up three places to a new peak of No.5 with her latest hit “This Ain’t Love”, becoming her sixth Top 5 single, plus she picked up an ARIA nomination this week too. Another act scoring a new peak is Drake who flies up seven places to land at No.6 with “Hotline Bling”, which becomes his third Top 10 entry and now his highest charting song in Australia, as he previously hit the ten with “Take Care” (HP-9, peaked Feb 2012) and “Hold On, We’re Going Home” (HP-8, peaked Oct 2013).

Dropping three spots to No.7 are R. City and Adam Levine with “Locked Away”, whilst OMI is once again up one spot to a new peak, this week to No.8 with his “Hula Hoop”, whilst dropping four places apiece are Taylor Swift with her “Wildest Dreams” and Nelly with Jeremih on “The Fix” to No.9 and No.10 respectively.

UP: Rudimental and Ed Sheeran have teamed up again for the track “Lay it All on Me” which this week blasts up the charts thirty-six spots to No.11, helped also by the fact that their second album “We the Generation” enters at No.4 this week. “The Hills” are up three chart-places this week for The Weekend to a new peak of No.12 and the only new singles chart certification this week is “Whip it!” for LunchMoney Lewis which is newly Gold (●) in sales and up one place to a new chart-height of No.13. One Direction did a live concert performance of “Drag Me Down”, which was screened on X-Factor this week, and that helps the song back up three places to No.16, and one place lower is rapper Dawin whose “Dessert” rises seven places to a new peak of No.17. The Rubens jump up nine spots to a new chart height of No.25 with “Hoops”, whilst climbing again three places (like last week) is Naughty Boy with Beyonce on the track “Runnin” (Lose it All)” to No.30. Duke Dumont recently hit No.51 with his track “Ocean Drive”, which re-entered the Top 100 last week, but this week the track appeared on a new four track EP entitled “Blasé Boys Club”, which all helps the song and EP to jump up forty-one spots to a new peak of No.38, which also means that all four of Duke’s entries here have now reached the Top 40 or higher, and returning to the Top 50 at No.50 is Peking Duk with “Say My Name” (HP-29) which re-enters due to the act and song being nominated for an ARIA Award this week.

DOWN: Felix Jaehn tumbles eight places to No.19 with his version of “Ain’t Nobody (Loves Me Better)”, and the only dropout from the Top 10 was last weeks highest entry, “Alive” by Sia, which this week is down eleven spots to No.21 after having spent a single week in the ten. Vance Joy leave the Top 20 with “Fire & the Flood”, down four to No.22 and “Peanut Butter Jelly” for Galantis is down four also, to No.27 this week. Pink is down five to No.32 with “Today’s the Day”, as too Silento with “Watch Me”, down five to No.34, but falling eight to No.40 is Meghan Trainor and John Legend with their former No.1 single “Like I’m Gonna Lose You”, with the biggest tumble of the week going to One Direction with “Infinity”, which halves itself this week, falling twenty-two places to No.44. Falling hard out of last weeks Top 50 are Aston Merrygold with “Get Stupid” (45 to 59) and Sam Smith’s Bond theme “Writing’s on the Wall” (44 to 63), which will most likely rise when the film comes out in five weeks time.

Disclosure debuted at No.2 last week with their second album “Caracal” (TW-12) and a fifth entry from the new album occurs at No.20, “Magnets” which features guest vocalist Lorde, and by entering so high it becomes the highest charting single from the new album so far, beating the No.29 peak that “Omen” (TW-49) with Sam Smith achieved back in early September, and it’s also the highest placed single for Disclosure here too. The other Top 50 debut this week is at No.45 for local singer Matt Corby entitled “Monday” which becomes his third Top 50 entry and fourth Top 100 single, with his first two entries both cracking the Top 5, “Into the Flame (EP)” (featuring ‘Brother’) (HP-3, peaked Feb 2012) and “Resolution” (HP-5, peaked June 2013).

Lower 50: With Ellie Goulding in the country this past week, a heap of her tracks rise back up or return to the Top 100, with her first No.1 “Love Me Like You Do” back up thirty-one spots to No.55 and her guest appearance on the Major Lazer single “Powerful” is back up nine places to No.56, and her August 2013 No.6 single “Burn” returns to the chart at No.85. Avicii is back up ten spots to No.57 with “Waiting for Love” and twelve places to No.88 with “For a Better Day” (HP-51) thanks to his new album “Stories” debuting at No.10. Diplo is back up eight to No.62 with “Be Right There” (HP-49) and Jamie Lawson rises up twelve to No.71 with his second entry “Ahead of Myself” (HP-59). Pharrell is back up ten to No.81 with “Freedom” and helped by their promo tour, 5SOS is back up thirteen places to No.84 with “She’s Kinda Hot”.

There are two entries in the lower fifty, the first is the lead single and title track from the forthcoming second album for The Vamps entitled “Wake Up” coming in at No.65, becoming the bands sixth Top 100 appearance, four of which all charted within the Top 50. The other entry is at No.83, “To Ü” for Skrillex and Diplo from their ‘Jack U’ album, this track featuring AlunaGeorge as guest vocalist, with the albums first entry “Where Are U Now” (HP-3) featuring Justin Bieber on hold at No.35 this week.

Another week, another No.1 debut, and another October, another “Like a Version” from radio station Triple J hits the top spot, this time Volume 11 of the popular series enters at the top of the ARIA Albums chart this week, to become the third successive such compilation to debut in the No.1 spot.

“Triple J’s Like a Version Volume 11” becomes the 745th No.1 album in Australia (1965 to 2015) and the 596th for ARIA (1983 to 2015) plus the 392nd to debut at No.1 and the fourth for the ABC record label and the second this year after Lee Kernaghan and “Spirit of the ANZACS” did so back in late March, whilst the two previous No.1 albums for the label were Volume 9 (28-Oct-2013) and Volume 10 (20-Oct-2014) of the ‘Like a Version’ series.

This becomes the 26th Compilation/Various Artists album to hit the top of the Australian charts since the first in 1981 (pre-ARIA), but the eight post-ARIA compilation, whilst the fourth this century, as this time in 2000 the ‘27th Olympiad Opening Ceremony’ album was spending its third and final week at the top, whilst the Vol.9 & 10 of ‘Like a Version’ were the others this century.

The eighth studio album for local legends Cold Chisel is entitled “The Perfect Crime” which comes in at No.2 this week, becoming the fourth successive album associated with the group to debut at No.2 since their 1998 comeback album “The Last Wave of Summer” (12-Oct) debuted and peaked at No.1. In-between we’ve seen the tribute album “Standing on the Outside Looking in” (9-Apr-2007), the compilation “The Best of–All for You” (24-Oct-2011) and their last studio album “No Plans” (16-April-2012) all enter at No.2, plus this becomes the groups fifteenth Top 10 album overall.

Last weeks No.1 debut of “Ire” for Parkway Drive is only down two places to No.3 this week, matching the two weeks within the Top 10 that their past two albums have achieved, so if its able to hold for a third week it will become their longest running Top 10 album. The second album for UK dance act Rudimental debuts at No.4 entitled “We the Generation”, with the album becoming their second No.1 in their home country this week. The bands debut set “Home” debuted and peaked at No.2 here in mid-May of 2013 and the band just leapt thirty-six places to No.11 with the albums new single featuring Ed Sheeran, “Lay it All on Me”.

Current X-Factor judge James Blunt also got a story aired on his history during Channel 7’s ‘Sunday Night’ last weekend, all of which has helped his collection “I’ll Take Everything” to jump up six places to a new peak of No.5, giving him his fifth Top 5 album in Australia (4 studios’ and now 1 best of), whilst one place lower is the headline act for last weekends AFL Grand Final, Bryan Adams, whose thirteenth studio album “Get Up” debuts at No.6 becoming his fifth Top 10 album here and his first for this century, as his last Top 10 set was his seventh album “18 Till I Die” (HP-2, 30-June-1996), with this album being released a couple of weeks earlier in Australia and New Zealand duo to his visit here, where he also announced his upcoming tour for 2016.

The seventh studio album for US heavy metal act Trivium comes in at No.7 entitled “Silence in the Snow” which here becomes their fifth albums chart entry and now fourth Top 10 album, and by debuting at No.7 it becomes their second highest charted album too, the album charting higher here being their second entry and fourth album “Shogun” (HP-4, peaked 6-Oct-2008). Heading for the one-year mark on the charts is Taylor Swift with her “1989” set, which in its fiftieth week on the charts is down four places to No.8 this week, whilst The Weeknd drops two places to No.9 with his “Beauty Behind the Madness” album. The sixth and final new entry to the Top 10 this week comes in at No.10, the second album for Swedish DJ Avicii entitled “Stories”, which also becomes his second Top 10 album in the process, as his debut set “True” entered at No.2 in late September of 2013 and climbed to No.1 in early February 2014.

UP: With the new Cold Chisel album entering so high, plus the band are playing some pre-tour shows at the moment, their collection “The Best of–All for You” is back up thirty-four spots to No.21, whilst the Dr. Dre album “2001” climbs back up six spots to No.32. “Hoops” for The Rubens and “Currents” for Tame Impala move back up to No.34 and No.35 respectively, with “The Best of Me” (HP-18, peaked Jan 2000) by Bryan Adams jumping back into the Top 100 at No.39 thanks to his visit and AFL GF spot. Another act leaping back within the fifty are Creedence Clearwater Revival with “The Ultimate Collection” at No.42 thanks to the remaining members of the band doing interviews with Channel 7’s ‘Sunday Night’ program last weekend, with further best of sets back into the fifty being the “Greatest Hits” for Fleetwood Mac (67 to 43) and back into the hundred at No.49 is Robbie Williams’ “In and Out of Consciousness: Greatest Hits 1990-2010” as he kicked off his national tour in Perth this week.

DOWN: Three of the six dropouts from the Top 10 all debuted their last week, with “Caracal” for Disclosure down ten places to No.12 and “Every Eye Open” by Chvrches down thirteen spots to No.16, with “Into the Dirt” (HP-10) for The Pierce Brothers leaving the Top 100 all together this week. After two weeks within the ten and also leaving this week are Lana Del Rey with “Honeymoon” (HP-1) down ten to No.15 and “Rattle That Look” (HP-2) for David Gilmour is down nine to No.18 and after three weeks in the ten (and now their longest run within the T10) “That’s the Spirit” by Bring Me the Horizon is down eight to No.14. And after 67 weeks within the Top 10, Ed Sheeran and his “x” album are down five places to No.13 having never left the ten until this week. Also dropping this week are Troye Sivan (17 to 24), Iron Maiden (16 to 25), James Bay (29 to 36), Maroon 5’s “Singles” (19 to 38), Jess Glynne (32 to 40), Peter Allen (25 to 42), Fetty Wap (13 to 46) and Slayer (34 to 50). Dropping into the lower fifty is Kurt Vile (27 to 51), Drake & Future (26 to 54), Ryan Adams (28 to 56), Keith Richards (41 to 58), Five Finger Death Punch (43 to 60), Robin Schulz (31 to 62), John & Olivia (49 to 63), New Order (20 to 64), Simply Red (45 to 68), The Dead Weather (21 to 71), Silversun Pickups (22 to 92) and the Maroon 5 album “V” (46 to 94).

The eleventh studio album for Janet Jackson “Unbreakable” actually debuts at No.11, and as it’s her first studio album in almost seven years, it becomes her highest charting album since 2001, as her last set “Discipline” debuted and peaked at No.16 in March 2008. Another act who has just released their eleventh album is US heavy metal act Clutch, and their latest set “Psychic Warfare” comes in at No.23, becoming the bands second entry here, as their tenth album “Earth Rocker” spent a week in the chart at No.82 in April 2013.

Melbourne hip-hop artist Dylan Joel sees his debut album “Authentic Lemonade” coming in at No.28 this week, whilst one place lower at No.29 is “Zipper Down” for Eagles of Death Metal, the bands fourth studio album and entry here, plus their first new album in almost seven years. With the album entering so high it also becomes their third Top 50 album and also their highest charting album in Australia. The final Top 50 entry this week is new at No.44, “Kill the Flaw” for Sevendust, the tenth studio album and first entry here since their fifth album “Next” (HP-60) in November of 2005 and this also becomes their third Top 50 placing.

Lower 50: The only certification on the albums chart this week is the self-titled album Hozier, on hold at No.53 and now ▲Platinum in sales. The first Bryan Adams best of set “So Far So Good” (HP-1x14 from 21-Sept-1993) returns to the Top 100 at No.55, and Gurrumul is back up forty-two places to No.57 with “The Gospel Album”, with further returning albums from X-F judge/AFL GF performer Chris Isaak with “Best of” at No.66 and thanks to her eight ARIA nominations this past week, the debut album for Courtney Barnett, “Sometimes I Sit and Think and Sometimes I Just Sit” is back in at No.67. Further returning albums this week are Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” (#72), “All Time Greatest Hits” by Neil Diamond (#87) and thanks to the Vol.11 scoring the new No.1 spot, the “Like a Version: Volume 10” is back in at No.98., with the final rising album being the Australian Crawl “Greatest Hits” set, up fourteen spots to No.81.

Finnish metal act Children of Bodom debut at No.69 with their eighth studio set entitled “I Worship Chaos”, which becomes their third album to chart here and first to not enter within the Top 50. “Cold Beer Conversation” for country singer George Strait enters at No.74 becoming his 28th studio album and fourth entry in Australia. And the second album for rock super-group The Winery Dogs entitled “Hot Streak” becomes their first entry here at No.79.

Another US rock band making their first entry are Wavves with their fifth studio album “V” entering at No.85, with Play School regular Justine Clarke enters one place lower at No.86 with her kids themed album “Pyjama Jam!” and the final entry coming in at No.91 is the fourth entry here and fifth studio album for UK rock act Editors entitled “In Dream”.

not sure how Wicked Game will chart when only went on sale today Heart of Glass is more likely the contender.

34. Monday - Matt Corby [NEW ENTRY]
66. Say My Name - Peking Duk featuring Benjamin Joseph [RE-ENTRY]
76. Wicked Game - Chris Isaak [RE-ENTRY]
78. To Ü - Skrillex & Diplo featuring AlunaGeorge [NEW ENTRY]

Cyrus Villanueva's Karaoke Shit™ version of Wicked Game has been in the iTunes Top 100 for the past four days with a chart run of 6-7-21-28 though. As for Heart of Ass, its run is only 84-89-OUT. *scratches head*
please stop that rubbish or I just won't bother dignifying a response.

Wicked Game was on pre-order all this week, so it'll chart the week after. I'm not sure Heart of Glass will chart, but I recall it being the highest last week.
Fairy snuff. I'll be sure to check the X Factor performances on iTunes in future for such pre-order shenanigans. Aww and look at you trying to feign offence. You were always gonna respond to even the slightest hint of a suggestion that you might have been wrong about something.
Can you please not be condescending either? I haven't been in a very good state of mind lately and I just don't need things like that.
Get well soon Jinxie!

I've added this week's ARIA Top 100 Singles chart entries to my site.

Hear them all here - http://top100singles.blogspot.com/2015/01/every-aria-top-100-single-in-2015.html
Just caught up with that chart.

Good to see Downtown get another week at #1, because I was a little unsure whether it would get it. Possibly the best #1 of the year.

Damn about "This Ain't Love" ruining Mauboy's peak collection and that boring Drake song making the top 10.
in the paragraph section under the new releases list,in regards to trvium hitting the top ten and referrence made to their album 'Shogun' this site has gone where no other charts site has been and has predicted the future, see below!

(HP-4, peaked 6-Oct-2018)

Thanks Jesse77, it's fixed now. Only because that day in 2018 is not a chart date, it should be 8-Oct-2018, the 6th is a Saturday that year

One of these days Lose Yourself will be in the Top 100 again, just wait.
If it was the kind of song to be sung on X Factor lifts it'd be top 10 next week
Predictions:

1. Downtown

9. This Ain't Love
10. Locked Away

14. Magnets
15. Wildest Dreams

7. 1989
8. I'll Take Everything

Another one I noticed this week is that "679" was rather low considering its iTunes/Spotify positions. I think since the Remy Boyz version was replaced with the Monty version on iTunes, they stopped counting the streams for the Remy Boyz version, which is getting the lion's share there.

Innocent Eyes : How can ARIA be held accountable for not counting all the sales for "The Hills" ?. It's a joke

@ benbyrne 5: Cos it's probably their fault. Or Universal hasn't asked them to combine both versions of The Hills but it would be very surprising.
