The end of the year is upon us, and here is where you can post your Personal Best Songs from the whole year 2015. My eligibility period is for songs that have I have listened to from 15th November 2014, to 15th November, 2015.
The year is coming to an end, and there were so many excellent tracks that charted, from a vast variety of talented national and international artists.
It can be any of your personal best songs, that were released in any format such as digital, radio airplay singles, album tracks, and live tracks performed at award shows and music festivals or concerts. You can also include the most played tracks on your mobile media devices, that were played on your smartphones or computers since the year commenced.

It's so good to see songs performed at Eurovision charting on your official chart. It's good to see Demi Lovato reach the Top 20.
I like your chart. Good to see Golden Globe nominee Ellie Goulding In the Top 10 with "Love me Like You Do". Grammy 2016 nominees Florence and the Machine!! At #9.
Hello Nateboi!! Overall ya have a very interesting chart full of songs that I like. Golden Globe Nominee Ellie Goulding is also in ya Top 10! Nick Jonas "Jealous" cracks Top 5, catchy song and it's eligible for my 2016 best of chart. He is also in "Scream Queens" tv show. OMG! Rita Ora "Poison" in ya Top 20, love the video and its sad that the song wasn't a bigger hit. Kygo "Stole the Show", such an underrated song that deserved global chart success and a Grammy Nomination. I love it! It's addictive
Hello Lifter500!!! Omg! Your chart is amazing! Good to see Lana Del Rey "High by the Beach" at #25. Gosh I love the video and the song deserved a lot of chart success worldwide. Why didn't the track chart higher in some countries? She is talented and mysterious. Love Lana. Omg! Delta Goodrem's "Wings" deserved to win the ARIA for Best Video, instead of The Veronica's. I loved the Voice performance, and I hope she releases her new album soon. It seems like artists are delaying their album releases until the Adele hype dies down. Robin Schulz!! "Headlights" #12!! Love the video, it was filmed at an abandoned water park in Spain. Gosh the song is catchy. Robin Schulz!! "Sun Goes Down" in Top 10!! Omg the track deserved a Grammy nomination. I like it how we both have two Robin tracks in the Top 20 of our charts. Carly Rae Rae!! Omg! "Run Away With Me", such a uplifting song! Catchy and sadly underrated as well. I love the video! I wish if she got a Grammy nomination.
Omg! So pleased to see Disclosure and Lorde at #22 in your chart. Love the song and the video clips as well. The song will be charting in my personal chart tommorow. Gosh I'm so happy that "Black Magic" by Little Mix is at #18, it's the best song of their career. The video is amazing and matches the theme of the song. Ellie Goulding "Love me Like You Do", at #12. She deserved the Grammy and Golden Globe nominations. I love the video clip! I hope she can take home the Golden Globe next Sunday. Omg! I'm so happy for her. Taylor Swift's "Style" in Top 10, it's such a catchy song and the video is interesting as well. One of the standout tracks from the new album. I'm loving her new video for "Out of the Woods", it's mysterious and enchanting, very elemental. I hope she releases a 7th official single "Welcome to New York".
Good to see Ellie Goulding finish the year 2015 at #1! With her Golden Globe and Grammy nominated global hit "Love Me Like You Do" Omg! I love your chart, full of songs that I like. Major Lazer at #2!! Woo hoo! Little Mixx at #3!! I love the video clip! Carly Rae at #22 with "Run Away with Me" such a catchy song and I love the scenery in the video clip, when she visits different locations and landmarks. OMG! Hopefully Ellie Goulding wins her first Grammy Award next month. It's the first two nominations of her career!
A lovely chart you have.
I'm happy to see Eurovision 2015 UK entry Elecro Velvet charting! I loved the performance at Eurovision and it's a surprise to see them get a low result. Please to see Little Mix and Taylor Swift in the Top 30! Delta Goodrem "Wings" finished in Top 10! Such a mysterious song, I love it! Especially the performance on the Voice.
A very interesting end of year chart, I'm pleased to see Kendrick Lamar At #6!! with "King Kunta". Omg! Carly Rae "Run Away with Me" in Top 20, gosh it's sad that her music is not getting the commercial success it deserves. I love her "Emotion" album. I'm also happy to see The Weeknd, Disclosure and a few Major Lazer tracks in the Top 200.
I like your chart and it's nice to see two songs by The Weeknd finish in the Top 10. OMG he has seven Grammy Nominations!! Hope he wins! Other singles I would like him to release are "Prisoner" feat.Lana Del Reya and "Dark Times". I'm also happy to see a few Taylor Swift songs in your Top 100. Good to see Little Mix, Ellie Goulding, Zedd and Selena. OMG! Feel relieved that Charli XCX just managed to crack the Top 100, at #99! "Break the Rules", it's such a catchy upbeat song! She deserved a Grammy Nomination for it.
I like your chart! Omg Robin Schulz And Jasmine at #2, can't believe it she is like only 15 years old. A very mature voice and such a good song! Lovely melody! It's addictive. So good to see Demi Lovato! At #3 "Cool for the a Summer", such a great song, love the lyrics and it's easy to dance to. Gosh I wish if she got a Grammy nom for it. I also loved her VMA performance with Iggy Azalea back in August last year. Good to see Ellie Goulding and Delta Goodrem reach Top 15. Very pleased to see "Style" at #30. Ariana Grande and Little Mix reach Top 40! Relief!! Good to see them charting. Robin Schulz just missed the Top 50! Love "Headlights", such an addictive song! Update: I am making considerable progress in doing this thing! If you have posted a full list on this site then rest assured as I'm quite sure I have it! We still have a handful of scheduled lists to come in the coming weeks, so this broadcast will be no earlier than the 13th/14th weekend, but I will keep you updated when more news arrives.
I also haven't actually added up any points proper yet, but I have noticed that we're getting a small handful of songs from last year's combined list still getting considerable votes. I was considering outright banning them but now I'm thinking I might count their points and keep their rank but not have them take up slots in the actual list, like what Trav is doing with his EOY list at the moment.
I don't think that's a good idea. People complain when things are denied from the ARIA chart, why deny things from this one?
If some things get excluded (or effectively excluded/void of any relevance) from the lists of some people and not others, then it's somewhat unfair, as their contributions count for less than other people's do. People can decide for themselves whether they want to include songs from 2014 (or 1939) in their list or not; if enough people don't want it, they won't make they list and if enough people do, then they will.
Not much point making this combined list if some lists are being effectively edited.
For what it's worth, there's always been a ruling of disallowing songs that are from earlier than the previous year unless they have some sort of modern relevance to them (eg AWOLNATION, We The Kings, Zeroleen etc). That's been in place before I've started doing the lists and I've changed nothing about it since except the scoring system.
My reckoning though is that these songs have nothing to prove. We all know they're loved and they've had their time in the sun. To me it just feels redundant to have them again, and it would be especially disappointing for the song(s) that get cut for it.
Last year we had "Jubel" in for a second year in a row, which I wasn't overly happy about, but at the very least it was a justifiable extreme: it wasn't well known in 2013, it only barely scraped in, and it got in for 2014 off the strength of people who weren't already voting it in the year before. The songs I'm eying off this year have none of those justifications and it just seems arbitrary and unnecessary to put them in. Personally for me as the one who spends hours putting this together, it's frustrating and demoralising, and I'm not in any state where I'd like to be further prodded; I would just like something to keep me at ease for once.
I do get though that disqualifying feels harsh which is why my idea was to count the songs in every way, including posting them on the day, except have them actually take up a slot. I'm open to other interpretations, but I'm very firm in not wanting songs (whether I like them or not) to lose a spotlight over this.
I've never been aware of this ruling existing; if so I would have mentioned sooner how silly it is.
This list isn't about songs "proving" anything. It's just meant to be a combined list of the EOY charts from everyone here, regardless of what songs are in there. It might be redundant to have them again, but it's what the people want. The songs that finish #101-#105 or whatever hardly have anything to prove either; they're obviously still popular because they got that close, but they're not popular enough to have made the list so they don't deserve the place. They're not getting "cut" to make way for songs from 2014, they're just being ranked where they belong. If people wanted them in the top 100, they'd have made it.
The justification is really irrelevant, it should just be what people vote for. Some songs cross years to a degree where half its fans place it in one year and half in the other; the second group aren't in the wrong for not placing it the first time. Neither are the people who place a song in both if they like it enough. If we start deeming it as "unnecessary" to count this song and that song, where does it stop? Should ARIA not allow a song to have more than one week at #1 on the chart since it already had a shot at the spotlight and now it's stopping other things doing so? Heck, should things not be allowed to be in the top 100 for more than one week because they're hogging it?
It's certainly not me, but if putting the list together upsets you to that degree, I'm sure somebody else here would do it.
We're not going for some definitive list of the best songs of 2015 (and no sooner!) here, we're just going for a list of the favourite songs of the members here for 2015.
The best suggestion I have for now (aside from just counting everyone's lists properly and doing the top 100 from that) would be to extend the broadcast/list by the amount of songs that you've deemed unnecessary. So if eight songs you'd disallow make the top 100, make it a top 108 and just have everything where it belongs. Last edited:
The whole point of the rule in the first place was common sense ruling over silliness. With the size of the board (particularly back in 2008 when this was started) it would be far too easy to 'sabotage' the list by blatantly putting something super old in. That's not providing anyone any help; everyone here is (I imagine) constantly discovering/re-discovering older hits that they love but they're not putting them in their lists.
I might be fine with that last idea though. But I will say that it's just as much about not making me upset as it is simultaneously making me happy. I've been utterly miserable for the last 6 months. Here I'm constantly prodded whether directly or indirectly and I have no outlet to retort, I'm just forced to deal with it. If I can just have this one thing work out how I'd like it to, it would do a great service to setting me up for 2016 in a good mindstate. I just reaaaaaaally need something to cheer me up.
Very tough to continue the discussion when you put it like that.
I really don't think anybody is trying to or would sabotage the list; people here take their charts and their EOY lists quite seriously, as well as this combined list (which is why accuracy should be key). But even if someone did try to troll the list, their effect can be minimal at best. On last year's list, the songs voted at #1 by one person and not voted by anybody else made around the #160 mark. To make an actual effect with trolling, someone would need help, and then it's too obvious and can be easily excluded ala Swifty4H100.
I was looking back to last year's list to see how many songs of mine would be excluded (but stopped counting because I got distracted reading the thread instead ) and I saw after the list you told Martin you'd excluded one of his egregiously old songs, and went on to say that a song should be within the last couple of years to be counted, unless there was a particular reason for counting it. No mention of it having to have not made a previous list. Those sound like good guidelines if there have to be some. If something is popular enough to make two lists, let it. It's highly unlikely to make #1 or a real dent anyway.
Turns your Spotify playlists in a spreadsheet with name, artist, and album separated out for you. Works perfectly and quickly (it's helped me with getting my butt into gear to actually do a broadcast tbh)!
I have no problem with stuff that technically came out in 2014 making the list either, regardless of how relevant it was or wasn't. It the end it won't do that well anyway so it all works out. If took a few extra months for someone to discover it then let it on I say. If it's any older then the previous year though then yes exclude it, that seems fair enough.
Also may I make a suggestion, if your having a tough time or in no state to compile the list then if you tell someone what to do and how to do it I'm sure someone will be happy to do it for you. This could really help the list get done a bit sooner too (Trying not to sound impatient)
I'll admit that this is probably getting more personal than I'd like to be on the very public part of this forum, but I really, truly believe that having things done my way will be wonderfully therapeutic for me. A small thing in this context, but it would go a very long way for me.
Edit: @Lifter, for what it's worth, I promise I do very much enjoy putting together the lists, I'd perhaps even be more disappointed if I weren't able to do it! Last edited:
Just my five cents worth... I find it reasonably common to see that songs can appear on two sequential End Of Year charts. Therefore I like the "within two year" rule. When I do my EOY charts, they are calendar year based (not release date based). Not everyone does it this way, so it can be tricky to align the results. I suppose I personally don't mind how its done either way, as long as the older songs at least get a mention. But it would be particularly harsh if Nov/Dec 2014 released songs were adjusted in any way for a 2015 list (e.g. 'Uptown Funk'). Songs with their main ARIA run falling mostly in 2013 or prior aren't required for a '15 list (just my opinion). We love your work on here Hijinx as you'd know.
I was reading today's posts again and realised I made an error. I thought Hijinx was saying we'd always had a rule saying that a song from the previous combined list couldn't make the current one. No idea how I made that interpretation, but I just wanted to clarify that I do like the "nothing older than 24 months without significant relevance" although it doesn't read that way above.
Hopefully my alternate suggestion above can be what goes ahead of the list isn't just made like normal.
Well as I said I don't mind that idea. I'm certainly not going to avoid acknowledging whatever points the songs end up accruing. The random idea I also had was to give them sort of #37.5 positions, make them posts and play maybe 30-60 seconds of them. It's more or less the same, but it has the bonus of giving me less of a paradox in my archival spreadsheet, and of course it doesn't immediately spoil how many of those songs there may be.
At the end of the day, I really don't think this sort of thing will genuinely concern anyone else beyond a bother, except I know it will eat away at my mental and perhaps physical health as yet another in the pile of me being pushed around until I break down again and can do nothing about it. Which is why I'd just really like to do this my way.
Nice one But yeah closing off tonight, I'm basically just waiting for popmusicity & Daniel, the former of which has actually already sent his list I just haven't looked at it yet until his broadcast is finished
And you can consider the list locked in. By all means anyone who wants to can still post their lists but I'm not taking in any more for the combined list and shall be doing much preparation for Sunday's broadcast. When all that's been crunched, you should see a new thread
