Ed Sheeran becomes the second artist for 2017 to score a second No.1 single on the ARIA Charts, as his now Beyonce infused track "Perfect" jumps up three places to land at No.1, as well as at the top in the UK.

"Perfect" becomes the 1069th No.1 Single in Australia (1940 to 2017) and the 504th for ARIA (1983 to 2017), plus the fourth for Ed and the second for Beyonce, as back in the first week of 2007 she stayed for three weeks at the summit with the ballad "Irreplacable". Ed has previously topped the charts with "Sing" (1 wk, 5th May, 2014), "Thinking Out Loud" (5 wks from 20th Oct, 2014) and the longest No.1 ever with "Shape of You" (15 wks from 16th Jan, 2017). Ed takes the top spot thanks to two digital versions selling, the lone Ed version and the new Beyonce duet which debuts at No.1 on the digital charts and jumps to No.1 on the streaming chart.

Ed's tally of weeks at No.1 has now amassed to 22 weeks, moving him from equal third to now outright third on the list for 'Accumulated Weeks at No.1: Singles; 2010's' behind Rihanna with 23 weeks, whilst Justin Bieber leads at the moment on 28 weeks. Ed also climbs to No.30 on the similar list 'Accumulated Weeks at No.1: 1940 to 2017', one week shy of the 23 for John Farnham and two weeks away from the 24 weeks notched up by Michael Jackson and Flo Rida.

This new No.1 is the third time that the word 'Perfect' has claimed the top spot in Australia, the first was for Fairground Attraction in August 1988 for four weeks with "Perfect", whilst the last was for local band 5 Seconds of Summer and "She Looks So Perfect" (1 wk, 31st March, 2014). This is the second No.1 here for the Asylum record label (Ed's "Shape of You" was the first), and for English Solo Male Artists, Ed Sheeran is now equal second for 'Most No.1's Singles: UK Solo Males' with four No.1's alongside Rod Stewart, the leader at the moment is George Michael with five, and for English Acts (solo, duo or group), he is equal fourth alongside Rod and Petula Clark (both with four), whilst ahead of them are George Michael (5 #1's), The Rolling Stones and Vera Lynn (6 #1's) and The Beatles (26 #1's). This new No.1 song also becomes the 205th No.1 by an English artist (solo, duo or grouo) and the fourth for 2017 with the first being Ed's 'Shape', followed by Harry Styles' "Sign of the Times" (17th April) and Sam Smith's "Too Good at Goodbyes" (18th Sept.)

After three weeks at No.1 the track "Havana" by Camila Cabello drops down a spot to No.2, with the two Post Malone top five tracks also down one spot in "Rockstar" and "I Fall Apart" to No.3 and No.4 respectively. The two Top 10 Marshmello tracks swap places this week, with "Silence" with Khalid up one spot to a new peak of No.5, and now 2x▲Platinum, whilst the Selena Gomez duet in "Wolves" is down one to No.6, with Khalid's other entry within the ten "Young, Dumb & Broke" down two to No.9 and newly certified 3x▲Platinum in sales.

The first chart entry for US rapper NF and "Let You Down" now becomes his first Top 10 hit here, as the track climbs four spots to a new peak of No.7, whilst blasting into the Top 10, up eighteen places to land at No.8 is the Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line duet "Meant to Be", which becomes her fifth Top 10 entry in Australia and her first as lead vocalist, and the song also becomes the first Top 10 for the US country act Florida Georgia Line, who are also sitting just outside of the Top 10 on the new Hailee Steinfeld and Alesso track. The final Top 10 entry is the Maroon 5 and SZA teaming "What Lovers Do", which is down two places to No.10 this week.

* Two former No.2 seasonal sets return to the chart this week, back in at No.13 is Mariah Carey's "Merry Christmas" and the Human Nature set "The Christmas Album" re-enters at No.22.
* A Pentatonix Christmas (now fixed by ARIA for its chart info) leaps back into the Top 30 this week, up a massive forty-five places to No.21, five away from its former peak of No.16.
* Leaping twenty places to a new peak of No.29 is the fifth seasonal album for The Wiggles in "Wiggly, Wiggly, Christmas".
* After dropping out of the Top 50 last week, the Chris Isaak "Christmas" set is back up nine to No.42.
* Josh Groban's expanded edition of "Noel" is down ten places to No.62.
* After slowly falling down over the past couple of weeks, this week the Hanson set "Finally it's Christmas" is back up twenty-two places to land at No.69.

* #5 (LP#14) - Songs of Experience by U2

* #25 (LP#3) - From a Room: Volume 2 by Chris Stapleton lands five places lower than his first volume from May this year ("From a Room: Vol.1, HP-20), and becomes his third studio and charting album, as his debut set "The Traveller" made it to No.47 in November of 2015.

* #30 (GH#1) - A Decade of Destruction by Five Finger Death Punch is the hard-rock bands first collection of songs, and features two new tracks including their new single "Trouble". This is their fifth albums chart entry since they first took their third album "American Capitalist" (HP-50) into our charts back in October of 2011.

* #31 (LP#38) - Versatile by Van Morrison is a collection of sixteen tracks, ten of which are covers of older tracks like "Unchained Melody", "Skye Boat Song", "Makin' Whoopee" and the Gershwin song "They Can't Take That Away from Me", and follows on from his October album "Roll with the Punches" (HP-11).

* #44 (LP#4) - War & Leisure by Miguel becomes the third album to chart here for the US singer, songwriter and actor, and this album peaks around where his first chart entry and second album did so back in September of 2013, when "Kaleidoscope Dream" reached No.45, whilst his last entry was his third album "Wildheart", which debuted and peaked at No.8 in mid July of 2015.

* #54 (GH#26) - On Air by The Rolling Stones is a single and also a two CD set of their songs performed by the band and recorded by the BBC in England between 1963 and 1965, and features early and live recordings of some of their songs like "Satisfaction", "It's All Over Now", "Route 66", "The Last Time", "Around and Around", "I Wanna Be Your Man", "Walking the Dog" and "Little by Little".

* #85 (LP#39) - The Visitor by Neil Young + Promise of the Real is the third collaboration between Neil and Promise, after the "The Monsanato Years" (HP-23, June 2015) and the live album "Earth" (HP-37, June 2016).

* #97 (S'tk) - Trolls Holiday Soundtrack is a seven track set of songs performed in the recently broadcast and then DVD/BR issued "Trolls Holiday" Christmas special, with tracks once again performed by the cast of Justin Timberlake, Anna Kendrick, James Corden, Zooey Deschanel and Icona Pop.

Hasn't every person on the planet bought All I Want for Pissmas is Poo already? Oh right, streaming.
Top 50 dropouts:
LWArtist - Title
38Niall Horan - Too Much To Ask
45Cardi B - Bodak Yellow
50BTS (feat Desiigner) - Mic Drop (Steve Aoki Remix)

Best of luck on the new endeavour NoZ!

can't believe I nearly had All Of Me as a birthday number one again.
To be fair, it's not close to the highest seller in the top 50 at the moment savage

It's also higher on the digital tracks chart than it is on the streaming tracks chart

chartifacts updated.
But it's so much fun being dramatic... don't take my toys awayyyy ;P

Happy b/day Jinxie. And thanks Nozzie for taking on the New Release schedule duties.
cheers! Just be glad you're not cataloging the UK's crazy Christmas times every year
Ed Sheeran has his second number one this year in Perfect.

The top songs for each category are:

Australian: Go Bang - Pnau
Streaming: Perfect
Australian Streaming: Let you down - Peking Duk featuring Icona Pop
Urban: Rockstar - Post Malone
Dance: Silence - Marshmello x Khalid
Club: GO BANG (Extended / Friend Within / KC Lights / Flash 89 / Acappella mix) - Pnau
Digital: Perfect (ARIA currently has Perfect as number 1 and 2 on its website)
Video: Havana - Camila Cabello
Just noticed Ch9 are screening that "Trolls Holiday" special (30 mins) at 7pm tonight, so maybe the new entry at #97 will rise next week!
Surely 'Perfect' has had one of the longest rises to #1? Have any taken more then 40 weeks to reach #1?
I believe the record was held by Pumped Up Kicks and/or Tingles prior to this.
The Tingles EP took 26 weeks to reach #1 (well, 28 if you include the two weeks it should have accumulated over the Christmas/New Year's holiday period back then) and Pumpie took 27 weeks.
Very happy to see Perfect take the top spot, the original version would be my favourite #1 of the year.
Hjinx I got wolves right as well
I've added this week's ARIA Top 100 Singles chart entries to my site.

Hear them all here - http://top100singles.blogspot.com/2016/12/every-aria-top-100-single-in-2017.html
A wizard did it
Uptown Funk is 15 x Platinum
With Uptown Funk being 15 X Platinum is that the highest platinum award a song has?

Party Rock Anthem is <P>15 as well.
In preds I didn't get 8 out of 20. I got 7. In the top 50 songs I got 9 out of 50.

Wow Party Rock Anthem and Uptown Funk both have the highest platinum awards of all time. Thanks Hijinx.
It is quite amusing seeing "Perfect" at #1 with Beyonce not credited, meaning she technically still only has the one #1 here.

Reminds me a bit of Justin Timberlake/Where Is The Love [albeit different circumstances].
I feel like she might get added on it next week Brosa
Disappointing new #1, because I was really hoping it would be held off the top spot, and for a while it was looking that way, but here we are unfortunately I blame Beyonce.

It's a shame, because I have really liked the last two #1's more than any other #1 songs in a while, but the streak has been broken.

I can't say with certainty whether I think it is the worst #1 of the year, but it is certainly a three-horse race between "Perfect", "What About Us" and "Rockabye".

I'm hoping "Havana" or "Rockstar" bounces back next week.
Perfect is the best #1 of the year IMO. It will stay at the Top next week.
I like 2017's first six #1 ARIA hits (Shape of You counted once) and don't like the last five ones. lol
I swear to god if Perfect is the 2018 eoy #1 then I'm never looking at the charts again

There's no way Perfect will be #1 on the Year End Chart unfortunately :/
Also is Katy Perry's Witness a new cert?
^ It was certified in November but we couldn't see it as it was out of the charts.

Link to my new article about Ed's LONG climb to the top, plus his forthcoming second duet of the song.
Just noticed something, is this the first time the Suicide Squad soundtrack has left the top 100?
Breaking news!

The Queen of Christmas! Mariah Carey earns her first ever Golden Globe 2018 Nomination! Best Original Song for “The Star” which she co-wrote.

Congratulations! Hope she is the favourite to win!

Nick Jonas is also celebrating his first ever Golden Globe 2018 Nomination!

OMG! this is so exciting

Surprise snub! for Zayn and Taylor Swift’s
“I Don’t Wanna Live Forever”, which missed out.
Hopefully the bypass by the Globes, doesn’t impact
it’s chance to receive an Oscar Nomination.
The track is nominated for a 2018 Grammy Award,
so will that be enough to get the track an Oscar Nom??
