* #25 (LP#7) - Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves is the fourth major label release and seventh overall album for the US country singer with this now becoming her highest charted album here, while she previously entered with "Same Trailer Different Park" (HP-77, 2013) and "Pageant Material" (HP-33, July 2015).

* #39 (LP#6) - I Am Human by Escape the Fate is the fifth albums chart entry here for the U.S. rock band, who have had three of their four previous entries all debut and peak within the Top 40, with their last set "Hate Me" becoming their highest charted at No.32 in November of 2015.

* #60 (LP#14) - No Mercy in This Land by Ben Harper with Charlie Musselwhite is the fifteenth album for Ben Harper to chart here since his first in 1994, with this being his second teaming with the blues-man Charlie Musselwhite, as their early 2013 set "Get Up!" made it to No.44, while Ben last charted here in April 2016 with his band The Innocent Criminals and "Call it What it is" (HP-11).

* #71 (LP#5) - Brace Yourself by BTS is the Korean boy-bands third Japanese album and fifth overall plus their second to chart here, as they scored a No.8 debut and peak in late September of 2017 with their EP "Love Yourself: Her".

* #98 (LP#2) - Blackout by Steffany Gretzinger is a singer-songwriter associated with the Bethel Music and church, with this being her second album and her first to chart nationally, with her debut set "The Undoing" coming out in August of 2014.

Damn looks like we'll have the biggest face off for #1 on the albums chart since Justin Bieber and One Direction as Post Malone and Keith Urban are both releasing their albums on April 27th

I've added this week's ARIA Top 100 Singles chart entries to my site.

Hear them all here - http://top100singles.blogspot.com/2017/12/every-aria-top-100-single-in-2018.html
Uhhh the charts are sooo boring, believe it or not there are more albums out there other than fucking Divide. The piece of shit was released a year ago. The Weeknd was #1 on digital nearly the whole week, had all his tracks in the Spotify top 50 and couldn't even get to #2! And God's Plan is 2 and a half months old, wtf is it still doing so well for
Last edited:
Since The Weeknd was a surprise release, I don't think he had a physical? It's very difficult to reach the top without one.
Digital albums sales are getting lower and lower though and their impact on the albums chart has softened a lot.

Ed Sheeran's albums are part of the 'Buy 2, Get 1 Free deals' in JB Hi Fi stores.

ARIA's stupid rule in regards to streaming on the albums chart certainly isn't helping new releases. Having said that, I'm not sure that The Weeknd would have outdone Ed anyway.

Both Divide and God's Plan are still doing well because people enjoy it.

Oh ok that makes sense about Ed and the Buy 2 get 1 free
iTunes also had all of Ed's albums discounted last week but not this upcoming week so they might take a slip next week.

Those digital sales are terrible aren't they. Even 3 months ago the #1 was doing 5-6k now its barely 3k. Such a shame really, especially as some songs don't appear to do anything in streaming.
It's funny you say that, my main take away from this is that Bad Wolves' streams are at least somewhat respectable for a song that I've never seen in the top 200 on Apple or Spotify.
Like Hijinx said, even songs that seem to do nothing on streaming like Zombie are,'t doing too bad compared to their digital results.

But yeah, the more we advance through time, the faster digital sales seem to collapse. It really won't be long until iTunes closes.
“It really won’t be long until iTunes closes” (Innocent Eyes)

I think the next step from streaming is an individual account with a set quantity of listens to a singular song / album before you’re asked to make a purchase. The streaming account from said purchase on the personal count should be counted into sales.
A small streaming fee cannot hold up the entire industry on its shoulders.
It costs money to perform & this money is derived from different avenues like music sales.
I’ve just recently started streaming... even though I said I would never. However it moved me to the album format over singular songs. Those Albums I was never able to afford I can finally listen to in full. I’m at about three different albums a day.
I was actually paying for a streaming subscription unknowingly for twelve months before realising.
I’ve decided to honour my digital downloads to finish this decade.
Physicals are rare but for my most favourited artists it’s reserved for them. I’m also increasing my live music intake by getting out there & seeing what I desire more often.
Everytime there has been an introduction of the way we consume music there has been a massive reduction in the previous format. That’s natural.
What’s not natural but is to be expected is the teething issues with the new way. These eventually correct themselves with so must frustration, anger, upset before.
Each generation has their favourite format I think there’s a place for all & I think at the end of the day we all want the same thing...
Glorious music from amazing people who just want to make a living out of their passion

It’s rare for me to be on here. It’s my 10th anniversary this year so I thought I’d post
I hope you’re all well
That's really cool Nate. Finally being able to properly listen to albums in full in an 'officially sanctioned' way was (and continues to be) my main draw to streaming.

Just last week marked 10 years since I found this site too
Given how digital sales are droping, it won't be long until iTunes becomes no longer profitable and closes its doors. I highly doubt people Will be moved when it happens. It's not like physical products such as vinyls and CDs, on which some people are still attached to
