It's a fifth week at the summit of the ARIA Singles Chart for the Ariana Grande track "thank u, next", which also lands a fifth week at the top in New Zealand and Canada, a sixth week in both Ireland and England and it returns for a fourth week at No.1 in America.

"thank u, next" increases Ariana's tally of weeks at No.1 in Australia to now six weeks moving her to outright 21st on the list for 'Accumulated Weeks at No.1: Singles; 2010's' (as no one else this decade has racked up six weeks from multiple chart-toppers) and puts her one week behind the seven tallied by John Legend.

The entire top four songs are all on hold this week with Halsey patiently waiting (again) for her second No.1 song berth, as "Without Me" is at No.2 for a second week, while George Ezra's "Shotgun" and the duet for Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in "Shallow" (#1 digital track too) are at No.3 and No.4 again respectively. The third week running German No.1 song for Ava Max and "Sweet but Psycho" climbs three places here to a new peak of No.5, pushing down "Sunflower" by Post Malone with Swae Lee and "Happier" for Marshmello and Bastille to No.6 and No.7 respectively.

Last weeks highest new entry for Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus with "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart" jumps up nine places to land at a new chart height of No.8, becoming the eighth Top 10 for Miley and the second for Mark who started a six week run at the top this time four years ago with his Bruno Mars infused track "Uptown Funk". The song also benefits from a massively viewed video, the pairs appearance on Graham Norton screened here last week and the song is currently No.3 on the digital chart and jumps up from #27 to #15 on the streaming chart.

After leaping back into the Top 10 last week the Travis Scott and Drake track "Sicko Mode" drops back down two places this week to No.9, and Halsey almost book-ends the Top 10 this week as her appearance on the Benny Blanco track "Eastside" along with Khalid is down one spot to No.10.

UP:
* Loud Luxury fell out of the Top 10 last week with "Body", which this week stays at its dropout position of No.11 and is newly certified 2x▲Platinum in sales.
* Dynoro is back up one spot to No.18 with "In My Mind" (HP-7) and the song is now ▲Platinum.
* Lukas Graham climbs back up six places to a new peak of No.20 for their song "Love Someone".
* After slowing dropping the past few weeks, this week the Maroon 5 and Cardi B track "Girls Like You" is back up six spots to No.21 and now certified 4x▲Platinum in sales too, while Cardi jumps back up eighteen places to No.58 with "I Like it".

* Panic! At the Disco rebound thirteen spots to No.24 with "High Hopes".
* The new song for The Hilltop Hoods and "Leave Me Lonely" jumps up twelve spots to a new chart height of No.26.
* Post Malone is back up with "Better Now" (31 to 28), "I Fall Apart" (66 to 55), "Rockstar" (72 to 61), "Psycho" (95 to 66), and his appearance on the Tiesto track "Jackie Chan" (93 to 90).
* Also climbing back up to its former peak is Morgan Evans' "Day Drunk", up three to No.35.
* Last weeks debut for Meek Mill with Drake and "Going Bad" rises nine spots to a new peak of No.33, while Drake is also back up with "In My Feelings" (55 to 49), "God's Plan" (86 to 51, most streamed song in Australia {and the world} for 2018), "Nice for What" (returns at No.81) and "Nonstop" (99 to 97).
* The third studio album and first posthumous release for XXXTentacion debuts in the Top 10 this week and his singles rising are "Bad" (78 to 35), "Sad!" (62 to 52) and "Jocelyn Flores" (returns at No.86).

* The only climbing Billie Eilish track this week is "Lovely" with Khalid, up two spots to No.43, while Khalid sees his returned track from last week in "Saturday Nights" jump up nine places to a new peak of No.54, with his Normani duet "Love Lies" back up sixteen places to No.82.

* The current Imagine Dragons single "Bad Liar" is on hold at No.29, while their Kygo duet "Born to Be Yours" is down one spots to No.93 and newly certified 2x▲Platinum in sales, plus they returned at No.95 with "Thunder", and Kygo's other entry "Happy Now" falls twenty-one places to No.73.
* The Kian track "Waiting" peaked at No.24 last week and is down six this week to No.30 (I have a feeling this song will crack the Top 10 in late January after its high placing in the JJJ100 for 2018).
* Sheck Wes drops again with his basketballer ode "Mo Bamba", down seven this week to No.39.

* Ariana Grande's "Santa Tell Me" drops down twenty places to No.74.
* The seventh and final re-entry this week is the late 1972 song for John Lennon and Yoko Ono in "Happy Xmas (War is Over)" which is back in at #100 this week. It first charted this week in '72 (18th of December, 1972) and peaked at No.9 in the second week of February, 1973, charting for 15 weeks. The song returned on the 22nd of December, 1980 after John was assassinated (HP-77, 3 weeks), and later that decade (19-Dec, 1988) teamed along with "Imagine" and "Jealous Guy" (HP-23, 9 weeks). This century it has also charted in 2007 (HP-71, 3 wks), 2008 (HP-66, 3 wks) and lastly in 2011 (HP-79, 1 wk), making its total of weeks in the chart now 35 weeks as of this week. PLUS Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus just issued their version of this track this morning (Saturday), so we could have two versions of the song charting next week.
* Mention must also go to the Grant Denyer single "Driving Home for Christmas" whose profits go towards our struggling farmers, with his track coming in at No.28 on the digital sales chart, no Top 100 entry for it as yet.

NO NEW ENTRIES THIS WEEK.

--------------------==\/==------------------
The year of 2018 has been topped and tailed by long running soundtracks, "A Star is Born" now racks up its eighth week at the top, matching the eight-week-stay achieved by "The Greatest Showman" in January and February.

"A Star is Born" is again the top seller here and also New Zealand (8th week too), and the soundtrack is newly certified ▲Platinum in sales, plus the album is now the equal second longest running soundtrack at No.1 during this century, as sitting in the lead is 'Moulin Rouge' at 11 weeks (2001), followed the aforementioned 'The Greatest Showman' equal at 8 weeks, that set climbed back to the top in England this week for its 22nd week at their summit, here the album is back up two places to No.6, while the reimagined version of the album is on hold at No.9. The highest new entry to the albums chart this week is the first posthumous and overall third studio album for the rapper XXXTentacion entitled "Skins", which comes in at No.8, becoming his second Top 10 album in Australia and featuring his track "Bad!" (HP-31, TW-35), as his second album "?" climbed back to No.2 in July after his passing, and overall his three studio albums have all landed within the Top 30, as his debut set "17" peaked at No.29 in September of 2017.

The new live album was recorded in La Plata in Buenos Aires, Argentina in November of 2017 during their world tour for 'A Head Full of Dreams' with the two disc set containing 24 tracks in total from their debut hit 'Yellow' all the way through to their last album.

* #29 (Comp#16) - The Carpenters with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is the new compilation to team together an older act (The Carpenters) with the classical Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, who are also currently charting with Elvis Presley (TW-35) and Roy Orbison (TW-75). This new set features revamped versions of their songs like "Yesterday Once More", "Hurting Each Other", "For All We Know", "Close to You", "Superstar", "Rainy Days and Mondays", and "Top of the World" among its 18 tracks.

* #49 (LP#40) - The Prophet Speaks by Van Morrison is the 40th studio album for the Irish singer, this new set featuring six original compositions and also covers of songs by John Lee Hooker, Sam Cooke, Solomon Burke, Willie Dixon and J.D. Harris.

* #57 (LP#10) - Everythang's Corrupt by Ice Cube is his first studio album in eight years and becomes his eleventh chart entry in Australia (nine studios and two compilations), five of this eleven cracking the Top 50, his highest charting set here being 2000's sixth album "War & Peace Vol.2 (The Peace Disc)" (HP-24).

* #61 (LP#1) - Friends Keep Secrets by Benny Blanco is the seven track debut set for the US producer and artist, which features his two current chart entries in "Eastside" (with Halsey and Khalid, TW-10) and "I Found You" (with Calvin Harris, HP-54, out this week), plus the album features guest artists such as Juice WRLD, Swae Lee, Ty Dolla $ign and 6lack.

* #93 (LP#2) - Ticket to L.A. by Brett Young is the California based country singers second album and first to chart here in Australia, as his February 2017 self-titled set didn't crack our Top 100. The lead single from the album is "Here Tonight" and the set also features a duet with Gavin DeGraw too entitled "Chapters".
