Singles Chartifacts:

After 32 years of waiting for a local solo female singer to surpass the seven weeks at No.1 previously set by Kylie Mingoue with her debut single "Locomotion" in 1987, current Aussie female singer Tones and I has now logged her eighth week at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart with her track "Dance Monkey".

The song is also again at the top in Norway (7th week), Ireland (4th week), Denmark (3rd week), Finland (2nd week), New Zealand (returns for a 2nd week) and it takes out the top spot for the first time in Austria, France, Switzerland and Germany, while it sits at No.2 in both Sweden and Belgium (former No.1 locales), and is also charting in The Netherlands (#5) climbs up five spots to No.14 in England, debuts at No.34 in Bulgaria and climbs into the Top 50 in Canada (new peak of No.49, up from No.52 last week).

For this decade "Dance Monkey" is now the equal seventh longest running No.1 (local or overseas) and joins other eight week runners this decade like "Somebody That I Used to Know" for Gotye & Kimbra (2011), "Whistle" for Flo Rida (2012), "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke (2013), "7 Years" by Lukas Graham (2016), "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran (2016/17) and the last one was "Youngblood" by 5SOS last year (2018), with both "Youngblood" and "Dance Monkey" tied in second place for the longest running Australian performed No.1 of the 2010's, with only Justice Crew and "Que Sera" ahead of them both on 9 weeks.

In the overall timeline of charts in Australia (1940 to 2019), the current No.1 track is the twelfth equal longest running No.1 of all time, and the 47th track to log eight weeks at the top, and Toni joins fellow Aussie acts at eight weeks like "Shaddup You Face" by Joe Dolce (1980), "Que Sera, Sera"/"Shakin' All Over" for Normie Rowe & the Playboys (1965), "Truly, Madly, Deeply" by Savage Garden (1997), "Australiana" by Austen Tayshus (No.1 at this time in 1983) and the aforementioned tracks by Gotye and 5 Seconds of Summer.

In 1987 the debut single for Kylie Minogue in "Locomotion" logged it's seventh and final week at the top on this weekend (21-Sept, 1987), and since then no other local Aussie Female artist has managed to surpass this run at the top, until this week for Tones and I with her second single "Dance Monkey". There is only ONE female sung song that has had more weeks at No.1 in Australia by a local female singer and that was the Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta track (Pre-ARIA) from 'Grease' in "You're the One That I Want" (9 broken weeks in 1978), while the leader on the tally board for 'Most Weeks at No.1 by an Australian Act (solo, duo or group) is the 1971 debut single for Daddy Cool in "Eagle Rock", which stayed at the top for ten weeks.
Post Malone holds at No.2 for a second week with his track "Circles", and this is his only Top 10 entry this week after a massive surge last week from his current No.1 album "Hollywood's Bleeding", while the first of three new certifications within the Top 10 occurs for the former No.1 song "Senorita" for Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello which is on hold at No.3 and is now 3x▲Platinum in sales, plus the song stays for a 4th week at No.1 in Canada.

The 2019 film reboot of the TV and film franchise 'Charlie's Angels' is set to be released in the middle of November, but the theme tune for the film was dropped last week (two months earlier) and it debuts at No.4 this week called "Don't Call Me Angel" it is performed by three power-house female artists in Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey, becoming the thirteenth Top 10 here for Ariana, the ninth for Miley and only the third for Lana (and her first since 2013), while the track also came in at No.2 in England and was kept off the top spot there by the four-week running Ed Sheeran and Stormzy track "Take Me Back to London", while here Ed is at No.5 with Khalid on "Beautiful People", which is down one spot this week.

Rising one chart-rung to a new peak of No.6 is the Marshmello and Kane Brown track "One Thing Right", followed by a one place rebound to No.7 for the other T10-Brown act in Blanco Brown with "The Git Up". The other hip-hop/country track within the Top 10 follows at No.8 in "Old Town Road" for Lil' Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus, down two spots this week but newly certified 8x▲Platinum and logging its 24th week inside the Top 10, the equal third longest running Top 10 single of all time, with the last song to log 24 weeks in the Top 10 (and nothing further) being "Eastside" for Benny Blanco over 2018/19 EOY/New Years period. Returning to the Top 10 for a sixteenth overall week and a fourth run within the ten is the Lewis Capaldi track "Someone That You Loved" up four places to No.9, while last weeks "returned-track-to-the-10" in "Piece of My Heart" for MeduZa is on hold at No.10 this week.

For the first time since Ed Sheeran in mid-July has an album held on for a second (or more) week at No.1, as last weeks entry at the summit in "Hollywood's Bleeding" for Post Malone holds for a second week at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart.

"Hollywood's Bleeding" also climbs to the top spot in New Zealand (it debuted at #2 there last week) and debuts at the summit in both America and Canada and is now the sixth album for 2019 to hold for a consecutive week, the previous acts were Queen (Jan), Ariana Grande (Feb), Billie Eilish (April), Pink (May) and lastly Ed Sheeran (July). On the tally boards Post Malone now rises from 162nd to 146th on the list for 'Accumulated Weeks at No.1: Albums; 1965 to 2019' alongside other acts with four weeks from 2 No.1's in Tina Arena, The Corrs, Guns N' Roses, Moby and Drake. And for this decade he rises from 31st to now 22nd alongside Mumford & Sons, Beyoncé, Drake and Coldplay (4 weeks from 2 #1 LP's). Plus this two week stay matches the two accumulated weeks his previous album "Beerbongs & Bentleys" achieved in May of 2018.

Holding at No.2 for a third week is the Taylor Swift set "Lover", while down one place apiece are the Ed Sheeran set "No.6 Collaborations Project" and "The Kids are Coming EP" for Tones and I to No.4 and No.6 respectively. Billie Eilish is on hold at No.8 with her first album "When We All Fall Asleep...", which is headed for a half-year stay within the Top 10 next week, while falling down within the ten are the Tool album "Fear Inoculum" (4 to No.9) and Lana Del Rey with "Norman F**king Rockwell" (7 to No.10).

There are three new entries to the Top 10 this week, all of which are debuting albums, starting at No.3 is the second EP for sixteen-year-old local singer Ruel called "Free Time", which becomes his second Top 100 entry and now first Top 10 placing, as his first release "Ready" made it to No.76 in late June of 2018, while this EP contains his first Top 50 hit "Painkiller" (HP-35, TW-60), plus the new entry for this week "Real Thing" (TW-73).

The 13th studio album for U.S. nu-metal act Korn called "The Nothing" enters at No.5 becoming their eighth Top 10 album (7 studios and 1 Best of) and overall their fifteenth entry (all 13 studio sets, 1 GH and 1 Live album), and of their five albums issued this decade this is their fourth to hit the Top 10 and their first new materiel since late October 2016's "The Serenity of Suffering" (HP-5). Also scoring their first Top 10 placing this week is Charli XCX with her third studio album called "Charli", which enters at No.7, plus it's also her first ever Top 50 placing, as she previously charted with "Sucker" (LP#2, HP-53, Dec 2014) and "Number 1 Angel" (Mixtape#3, HP-74, March 2017).

UP:
* Khalid rises back up seven places to No.15 with his second album "Free Spirit", while he is stable at No.51 with his first set "American Teen".
* The 'Rocketman' soundtrack is up one to No.38, while the 'Aladdin' album rebounds eight to No.53, both having recently been issued on DVD and Blu Ray, 'Aladdin' just this past week.
* Ocean Alley returned to the singles chart #100, but their album "Chiaroscuro" leaps back into the albums chart at No.67, with further returns by Dope Lemon with "Smooth Big Cat" (#76), Rufus du Sol and "Solace" (#90, while their remixed version of the album leaves after one week at No.69), "Evolve" by Imagine Dragons (#92), "Things That We Drink to" for Morgan Evans (#96), "Dream Your Life Away" for Vance Joy (#97) and "My Criminal Record" for Jimmy Barnes (#99), but NO return for any Cars albums or compilations, with lead singer Ric Ocasek passing away this week (Monday here) at 75.
* The Queen "Platinum Collection" rebounds eight places to No.82.
* Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" album also moves back up thirteen spots to No.85.

* G Flip sees her album "About Us" descend a further five places this week to No.18.
* The soundtrack for 'A Star is Born' falls eight spots to No.19, with other falling movie-sets being for 'Bohemian Rhapsody' (18 to No.21), 'The Greatest Showman' (17 to No.25), 'The Lion King' (33 to No.48), 'Moana' (65 to No.69) and leaving after four weeks is 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' (#56).

* Travis Scott drops ten places to No.26 with his "Astroworld" album.
* The only newly certified album this week is the Ariana Grande set "thank u, next", which is newly ▲Platinum in sales, the album moving down three to No.27, while she is down two places to No.79 with her other entry "Sweetener".
* Slipknot slides down seven places to No.28 with their six week old entry "We Are Not Your Kind".
* Hilltop Hoods' "The Great Expanse" album drops down eleven places to No.39, plus there's an eight place slide for their "Drinking...Walking...Restrung" set to No.58.
* Brockhampton tumbles eleven places to No.40 with their recent No.3 entry "Ginger".
* The Teskey Brothers tumble again this week with their second album "Run Home Slow", falling eighteen spots to No.43.
* The Fleetwood Mac tour of New Zealand last week saw their 1978 set "Rumours" return to the Top 10 this week, here that set drops down thirteen places to No.50, while they also slide with "50 Years - Don't Stop" (23 to No.77) and "The Very Best of" (70 to #100, 513 weeks in the Top 100, Longest Charted Album record holder).
* Further falling collections this week are by Maroon 5 (43 to No.52), INXS (53 to No.55), Cold Chisel (57 to No.59), The Wiggles (67 to No.74), Foo Fighters (81 to No.83) and The Killers (83 to No.84).
* The Eminem album "Kamikaze" falls ten places to No.56.
* Taylor Swift's "Reputation" plummets this week thirteen places to No.60, while her "1989" set is only down five to No.54.
* Lizzo this week falls eleven spots to No.66 with "Coz I Love You", but expect a rebound next week as the vinyl set was issued on Friday.
* The ONLY non-Top 10 debut from last week to score a second week within the Top 100 is the Jax Jones set "Snacks (Supersize)", which is down fourteen places to No.58, as entries from last week to depart the T100 this week were by Melinda Schneider (#58), Rufus du Sol (#69), Lindsey Stirling (#74), Iggy Pop (#91) and Status Quo (#98, vinyl edition also issued on Friday).
