Singles Chartifacts:

Whether it's the lack of new material, or nothing else beats the Tones and I track "Dance Monkey", but again this week it is the top selling single for ARIA, holding for a 24th non-consecutive week at No.1.

"Dance Monkey" and its twenty-four weeks at No.1 in Australia now beats the previous 77 year old record for 'Most Weeks at No.1: Singles' in the Bing Crosby classic "White Christmas" (1943) which held for five months of 23 weeks, so now Tones and I surpasses that chart record (but not necessarily sales record) to be the longest running No.1 single in Australia of all time (1940 to 2020).

The song remains at the summit in overseas countries like Switzerland (18th wk), Belgium (17th wk), Portugal (10th wk), Bulgaria (9th wk) and Canada (7th wk), while its on hold for a second week at No.7 in the U.S.A. and at No.2 in Austria, New Zealand, France, Germany and Sweden. The track here also picks up an 8th ▲Platinum sales certification and spends a 28th week inside the Top 10, the second longest run ever behind "Sunflower" (31 weeks, 2018/19) for Post Malone and Swae Lee.

The Weeknd is spending a second week at No.1 in Germany with his track "Blinding Lights", while here the song climbs up one spot to a new peak of No.2 to become his third track to peak that high in Australia, matching the chart-feats of "Can't Feel My Face" (2015) and "Starboy" (2016), and it could become his first No.1 song as he has yet to peak that high here. Dua Lipa swaps places with The Weeknd, as her four-week running No.2 single "Don't Start Now" drops down one spot to No.3, while the new No.1 song in New Zealand is the first new material in some years for Justin Bieber called "Yummy", which debuted at No.2 in the U.S.A., No.3 in his native Canada, and here it is up four spots from last weeks debut to a new peak of No.4, which makes it his fourteenth Top 5 single locally. Post Malone keeps spinning in "Circles" as he is at No.5 for a third straight week and an overall 20th week within the Top 10 (equal 9th longest of all time), followed by a two place drop to No.6 for "Roxanne" by Arizona Zervis, with numbers 2, 3, 5, 6 and 8 all being current or former No.2 peaking singles.

Jumping up eleven places to a new peak of No.7 and scoring his first Top 10 entry in Australia is Roddy Ricch with his entry from last week called "The Box", which climbed to No.1 in the U.S.A. singles chart this week, while his album also re-took their top spot. This is followed by the song "Memories" by Maroon 5, the songs 15th week within the Top 10, and "Ride it" for Regard, both songs down two places to No.8 and No.9 respectively. With Lizzo touring the country at the moment, plus she appeared on The Project this past week, her former No.6 single "Good as Hell" is back up one spot to No.10 for a ninth week inside the Top 10.

UP:
* Lewis Capaldi's eight-week running Irish No.1 single "Before You Go" is on hold here at its peak of No.12 for a second week.
* Also on hold at No.14 is the second MeduZa track "Lose Control", which is scoring its first sales certification ever by achieving ▲Platinum in sales.
* The third solo Selena Gomez album "Rare" debuts in the No.1 albums spot here this week, which helps bring new material into the charts for her, plus she rebounds with the albums first releases in "Lose You to Love Me" (HP-2, 26 to No.20) and "Look at Her Now" (HP-29, the only returning song this week at No.84).
* Brockhampton's 2019 song "Sugar" continues to rise after their recent shows here, the song this week leaping up sixteen places to a new peak of No.21.
* Benee is up two places to a new chart height of No.29 with "Glitter".
* The Sofi Tukker track "Purple Hat" jumps up eight places and into the Top 40 to a new peak of No.36, the highest placing the duo have ever appeared on the Australian Singles Chart.
* Also cracking the Top 40, but for the second time, is the Riton x Oliver Heldens track "Turn Me On".(HP-38), back up two places to No.39.
* Lizzo's first entry "Truth Hurts" is back up one spot to No.52 thanks to her tour here.
* The Rubens rise five places to a new peak of No.54 with their three week old entry "Live in Life".
* Holding at its peak of No.63 for a second week is DaBaby track "Bop".

DOWN:
* There are two songs which leave the Top 10 this week in "Never Seen the Rain" for Tones and I (HP-7, WI10-11) down two to No.11, plus "Adore You" for Harry Styles (HP-7, WI10-3a) which is down three spots to No.13.
* After peaking at No.13 last week the Trevor Daniel track "Falling" does just that, down three places to No.16.
* There are NO Ed Sheeran tracks within the Top 20 this week, but that could change next week as Eminem dropped a surprise album on Friday called "Music to Be Murdered by", and one of the tracks on the set is another duet between Ed and Eminem called "Those Kinda Nights". But for this week "South of the Border" is down four places to No.24, his highest placed song for the week, after which he also drops with "I Don't Care" (35 to No.38), "Beautiful People" (36 to No.42), on the Stormzy track (UK#1, 46 to No.49), "Perfect" (on hold at No.88) and the 'Longest Charted Single' in "Shape of You" (80 to No.92, 156 weeks).
* Camila Cabello is down six places to No.25 with "My Oh My" and on the Shawn Mendes duet "Senorita" (28 to No.31).
* Harry Styles not only drops out of the Top 10 with "Adore You", but he also slides down with "Watermelon Wine" (22 to No.27), "Falling" (52 to No.70) and "Lights Up" (79 to No.98).
* With the new Bieber track climbing into the Top 5 this week, his older entry with Dan + Shay in "10,000 Hours" is down six spots to No.30.
* Rapper blackbear sees his "Hot Girl Bummer" track drop down six spots to No.33.
* Post Malone's No.1 song from this week last year in "Sunflower" is down seven spots to No.40, while he also slips down with "Wow." (72 to No.79) and "Goodbyes" (87 to No.95).
* MeduZa's first entry "Piece of Your Heart" drops down six spots to No.45.
* The Joel Corry song "Sorry" is newly certified Gold (●) in sales and is down five to No.47.
* Halsey just issued her new album on Friday and this week she has four songs within the Top 100, three of which drop down, starting with the new sets second entry "Graveyard" (38 to No.50), her Benny Blanco appearance on "Eastside" (45 to No.56) and her first release from "Manic" in "Without Me" (89 to No.96).
* Seven weeks ago the Weeknd debuted with two new tracks, the second of which is up to No.2 this week, the first in "Heartless" falls down eleven spots to No.51.
* The Ant Saunders song "Yellow Hearts" falls down eight places to No.57.
* Sam Smith drops nine spots to No.59 with "How Do You Sleep?".
* Juice WRLD's two entries fall in "Lucid Dreams" (55 to No.61) and "Bandit" (68 to No.81).
* Guy Sebastian's track "Choir" descends six places to No.64.
* Both of the entries for Drax Project drop down this week in "Catching Feelings" (60 to No.65) and "Woke Up Late" (83 to No.99).
* The longest charted Australian performed song is "Youngblood" for 5 Seconds of Summer (92 weeks) which is down five to No.66, while their "Teeth" track drops sixteen to No.72.
* After rebounding last week to No.64, this week the Martin Garrix and Dean Lewis track "Used to Love" is back down nine spots to No.73, while Dean's former No.1 "Be Alright" slips down seven places to No.76.
* The Jonas Brothers issued a new single on Friday called "What a Man Gotta Do", which is NOT on their current album, and this week they drop down with "Only Human" (67 to No.74) and "Sucker" (73 to No.80).
* Lil' Tecca's "Ran$om" falls down sixteen spots to land at No.82.
* The only Taylor Swift songs left within the Top 100 this week is "Lover", which is down thirteen places to No.83.
* The Marshmello and Bastille track "Happier" falls twelve spots to No.87, while he (Marsh) is also down with "One Thing Right" (25 to No.28).
* Travis Scott and Drake's "Sicko Mode" drops down nine spots to No.91, while Drake has a new entry this week too.
* Ariana Grande's "7 Rings" tumbles down sixteen places to land at #100 this week.

NEW ENTRIES:
* #15 - Life is Good by Future and Drake is the second entry and collaboration between the U.S. and Canadian rappers and is the lead single from their forthcoming second mixtape (no date or title known as yet), as they previously teamed up for the 2015 mixtape "What a Time to Be Alive" (HP-2, Sept., 2015), which produced their first chart entry together in "Jumpman" (HP-47, peaked May 2016).

* #23 - Rare by Selena Gomez is the title track from the new No.1 album in the country and third solo set for Selena called "Rare", which becomes the third entry from the new album as she is also charting this week with "Lose You to Love Me" (HP-2, TW-20) and "Look at Her Now" (HP-29, TW-84), plus overall this is her 21st Top 100 entry (16 as lead, 5 as guest vocalist).

* #41 - You Should Be Sad by Halsey is taken from the just issued third album "Manic" (Jan. 17th, 2020) and is the third chart entry from the new album after "Without Me" (HP-2, TW-96) and "Graveyard" (HP-24, TW-50) and this becomes her 19th Top 100 entry in Australia too (15 as lead, 4 as guest vocalist).

* #43 - Good News by Mac Miller is taken from the surprise issued Friday (17th-Jan, 2020) first posthumous album for Mac called "Circles" which the rapper was working on before he passed in 2018, and this new single now becomes his fourth overall Top 100 entry and his second only Top 50 placing, as he previously made it to No.37 on the Ariana Grande track "The Way" in April of 2013, thus this is now his first Solo Top 50 entry.

* #44 - German by No Money Enterprise (NME) is a four-piece rap-hip-hop group from Logan City in Queensland, and this their first single instantly cracks the Top 50 this week after ranking at No.1 on the Spotify Viral 50 chart this past week, with the band doing a meet and greet on January 25th in Slacks Creek, QLD under the tour-name "Pull Up in Logan City" with other local acts, one regular and one an underage show.

* #58 - Say So by Doja Cat is now the third entry for the female rapper born Amala Zandile Dlamini in L.A. in 1995, having previously entered with "Candy" (HP-92, 2019) and "Juicy" (HP-59, 2019), the new and second entry both taken from her second album "Hot Pink" (HP-30), which leaps up to No.71 this week on the ARIA Albums Chart.

* #68 - Pump it Up by Endor is a cover/remix of the 2004 Danzel track of the same name which climbed to No.84 here in December of 2004, and is now remixed by Brighton (UK) DJ and producer Endor, the song returning to the charts higher than the original achieved, while the track has also reached No.1 on the Billboard Dance Charts in the USA and No.8 in the UK.

* #69 - Eleven by Khalid is the second new single from a forthcoming third album (or second EP) for the American singer and songwriter, following on from "Up All Night" (HP-35, TW-55), overall this becomes his 28th Top 100 entry in Australia (20 as lead, 8 as guest vocalist).

* #90 - Let it Rain by Delta Goodrem was the No.1 digital selling track last week in Australia, but failed to make it into the Top 100. Co-written by Delta to raise money for bushfire relief in Australia after the recent mass-bushfires which wiped out much of the countryside and the wildlife. The song has also in the past week charted in Hungary (#35), Scotland (#60) and England (#51) and overall this is her 29th Top 100 entry since her first in 2001.

* #97 - If the World Was Ending by JP Saxe & Julia Michaels came about because the two singer/songwriters were fans of each others work, and when they got together to write this was the first song they put down and recorded. It has so far reached the Top 10 in both Belgium and New Zealand, and is also charting well in Canada (#25), The Netherlands (#36), Norway (#18), and Ireland (#43).

Albums Chartifacts:

The third solo album (6th overall LP) for singer Selena Gomez called "Rare" becomes the first No.1 album of the 2020's, plus the first new No.1 of the year, and also her first chart-topping album for ARIA.

"Rare" becomes the 865th No.1 Album in Australia (1965 to 2020), the 715th for ARIA (1983 to 2020) and the 504th to debut at No.1 (since the first in 1976), while it's also the 32nd No.1 for the record label Interscope, their last being in July of 2019 for Billie Eilish. And other than Norway we are the only two countries (so far) to make this a No.1 album, as it entered at No.2 in both New Zealand and England, while No.3 in Germany.

Selena also lands her overall fifth albums chart entry (3 solo, 2 as Selena & the Scene) and her third successive Top 10 album after "Stars Dance" (HP-8, late July 2013) and "Revival" (HP-3, Mid-October 2015), thus her new album also becomes not only her first No.1 album but also her highest charted album locally, while it's also her first new album in just over four years.

Three singles from the album have charted so far, with the albums title track debuting at No.23 this week, while it was preceded by "Lose You to Love Me" (HP-2, TW-20) and "Look at Her Now" (HP-29, TW-84). This is the first time that the word 'Rare' has appeared in a No.1 albums title (the previous highest 'Rare' named album was for Panic! At the Disco with "Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!" in 2013, HP-26), while Selena's album becomes the 306th by an America artist to hit the top here (and the first since Luke Combs last November), plus the 133rd No.1 album by a Female artist (local or overseas, and the first since "Hilda' by Jessica Mauboy in late October, 2019). Selena is now also the 156th American artist to hit the No.1 albums spot in Australia (solo, duo, group, male or female) and the 37th American Female Solo Singer to do so also, the last NEW one was Billie Eilish last April to July (the last U.S. Solo Female artist to make it to No.1 here was Taylor Swift's "Lover" on 2nd of Sept., 2019).

After three broken weeks at No.1 the second Harry Styles album "Fine Line" is down one spot to No.2, which in turn pushes down the Billie Eilish debut set "When We All Fall Asleep..." to No.3, after that the Elton John compilation set "Diamonds" is back up four places to No.4 thanks to him being in the middle of his national tour of Australia, followed by a two place drop to No.5 for the soundtrack to the film 'Frozen 2'.

There are two more entries into the Top 10 this week, both live albums by the same artist, in local psychedelic-rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard with "Live in Adelaide '19" and "Live in Paris '19" which enter at No.6 and No.9 respectively. These become the bands eighth and ninth Top 10 albums in Australia and a third edition of the live sets also enters at No.34 this week too.

Ed Sheeran's duets album "No.6 Collaborations Project" is back down two places to No.7, followed by a four place slump to No.8 for the Post Malone set "Hollywood's Bleeding" (returns for ninth week at No.1 in Canada), while the current national tour for Cold Chisel sees their December 2019 No.1 album "Blood Moon" rebound seven places this week to jump back to No.10 for a fourth overall week within the Top 10.

UP:
* With Lizzo in the country on tour her album "Cuz I Love You" is up eleven spots to land at a new peak of No.19, having previously peaked at No.26 last October, thus this is its first week within the Top 20 here.
* The Roddy Ricch album "Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial" reclaims the No.1 albums spot in America (2nd overall week) this week thanks to his single "The Box" also being their No.1 single. Here that song jumps into the Top 10 for the first time (18 to No.7), while his album here climbs three places to land at a new peak of No.30.
* The Hilltop Hoods' "The Great Expanse" rebounds nine spots to No.41 this week.
* Elton John not only rises back into the Top 5 this week, but his classic album "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" rebounds twelve spots to No.47.
* Chris Brown's Album "Indigo" rises again this week, up four to No.59.
* Climbing collections this week are for The Wiggles (70 to No.62), The Killers (80 to No.75), The Foo Fighters (90 to No.80), Bon Jovi (returns #93) and Australian Crawl (returns #100).
* With a second single charting this week for Doja Cat from her "Hot Pink" album, that set rebounds a massive twenty-three spots to No.71.
* Adele's "25" is back up twelve spots to No.81, while her "21" set returns at No.92.
* With The Weeknd scoring a third No.2 single in Australia this week, his last album "Starboy" climbs back up twelve spots to No.83.
* Two further returning albums this week are "Evolve" for Imagine Dragons (#96) and "Love Monster" by Amy Shark (#98).

DOWN:
* Four albums leave the Top 10 this week, starting with first-time-leaver "The Kids are Coming" EP for Tones and I (HP-3, WI10-19, 6 to No.11), which scores its first sales cert and is now Gold (●) in sales. After leaping back into the Top 10 last week, the Lewis Capaldi debut set "Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extant" (HP-7, WI10-2a) drops back down six spots to No.13 (it returns for an 8th week at the top in the UK). Luke Combs also returned to the T10 last week with "What You See is What You Get" (HP-1x1, WI10-4a) and this week drops back down five to No.15, followed by the Taylor Swift seventh album "Lover" (HP-1x1, WI10-16a), falling seven to No.16.
* The Cold Chisel album climbed back into the Top 10 this week, while their "All for You-Best of" is down one spot to No.14, with other falling or dropping best of sets being for Paul Kelly (15 to No.18), INXS (32 to No.37), Maroon 5 (38 to No.42), Eminem (42 to No.55), Green Day (66 to No.70, new single issued on Friday called "Oh Yeah!"), Jason DeRulo (68 to No.73), Queen (GH 81 to No.82) and a massive drop for Human Nature (55 to No.89).
* The Travis Scott side-project Jackboys sees their self-titled album fall ten spots to No.22.
* Camila Cabello falls down seven places to No.23 with her "Romance" set.
* Soundtracks moving down this week are for 'Bohemian Rhapsody' (26 to No.29), 'The Greatest Showman' (27 to No.31), 'A Star is Born' (29 to No.39), 'Frozen' (44 to No.45), 'Cats' (37 to No.52) and after two weeks its goodbye for "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' (HP-25) which departs from No.87.
* The Teskey Brothers' "Run Home Slow" set dips seven places to No.32, while their previous album "Half Mile Harvest" plummets twenty-three spots to No.95.
* The Ariana Grande set "thank u, next" drops down seven places to No.35.
* The self-titled fourth Shawn Mendes album falls eight places to No.43.
* The two Juice WRLD entries drop for "Goodbye & Good Riddance" (48 to No.51) and "Death Race for Love" (57 to No.64).
* Pink's "Hurts 2B Human" drops down eight spots to No.57.
* The Coldplay latest set "Everyday Life" plummets this week thirty-one spots to No.65.
* 73 weeks ago Eminem released a surprise album called "Kamikaze", which this week is down six spots to No.67. He just issued another surprise release on Friday called "Music to Be Murdered by", so expect this album to rebound next week thanks to the new release.
* The Rod Stewart and R.P.O. album "You're in My Heart" drops down twelve spots to No.68.
* Triple J's "Like a Version Vol.15" is down fourteen spots to No.72.
* Trippie Redd takes a ten place fall to No.85 with "A Love Letter to You 4".
* "Norman F**king Rockwell" for Lana Del Rey drops down twenty-one spots to No.90.
* The Tool set "Fear Inoculum" dips fifteen places to No.91.
* The last big drop of the week is the Jessica Mauboy set "Hilda", down twenty-four to No.97.

Really glad to see one of the up-and-coming Australian hip hop acts (No Money Enterprise) let onto the chart for once. ONEFOUR, Hooligan Hefs, Hp Boyz and Youngn Lipz have spent a cumulative 49 weeks in the Spotify top 100, between 8 different songs, and only one of those has been acknowledged by ARIA.

Good to see Endor make the chart as well. Amusing if Sony's gamble (?) to get Delta a higher debut failed with it possibly being lower this week than it would've been last week.
Dance Monkey has in fact been the Top selling single for 24 non consecutive weeks as well Bulion.

Really glad to see NME chart and new peaks for The Box, Sugar, Glitter and Pump It Up. I didn't know that the original charted in Australia in 2004.
I.E., that was my first statement in my chartifacts this week...

"Tones and I track "Dance Monkey", but again this week it is the top selling single for ARIA, holding for a 24th non-consecutive week at No.1."
Sorry Bulion. I read too quickly. My statement was referring to your claim in parenthesis "(but not necessarily sales record)".
my reference was in regards to it beating about not yet beating "White Christmas", which has sold a lot more.
