Singles Chartifacts:

The American/Guyanese rapper SAINt JHN has taken his breakout Imanbek remixed single "Roses" to the top of the ARIA Singles Chart this week, matching its peak in England and Ireland.

"Roses" for SAINt JHN (born Carlos St. John) claims the 1091st No.1 single in Australia (1940 to 2020) and the 526th for ARIA (1983 to 2020), while its the third chart-topping song during 2020 and he is the first America performer at No.1 since Mariah Carey reclaimed the Xmas No.1 on December 30th, 2019 and the first new American act since April 22nd of 2019 when Lil' Nas X began a 13 week broken run at the top here.

The last time we had any 'Rose(s)' in the No.1 spot was back in 1995 when Seal took his 'Batman Forever' themed tune "Kiss from a Rose" to the top for six weeks from August 27th, and overall this is the seventh 'Rose' infused song at No.1 in Australia, while this very week in 1971 (49 years ago) the Lynn Anderson country song "Rose Garden" started a four week run here (April 5th, 1971).

It's also the first No.1 for John's record label 'Godd Complexx" and "HITCO" (through Sony Music). SAINt JHN becomes the 194th Solo Male American singer to hit No.1 here, and the 416th U.S. artist (solo, duo, group, male or female) to claim the top spot too, while the song becomes the 701st for an American performer to hit the chart-peak. The song is newly ▲Platinum in sales here and it remains at No.1 in Ireland for a fifth straight week, while it was pushed back off the top spot in England after two weeks.

Reclaiming the UK No.1 slot is The Weeknd with "Blinding Lights" (six week there), while the song is also spending its second week at the top in New Zealand and thanks to his album landing at the top in the U.S.A. and Canada, the song also claims the No.1 slot in both of those countries too. Here the song falls to No.2 after ten consecutive weeks at No.1. Rebounding a spot thanks to her second album entering so high is the Dua Lipa track "Don't Start Now", which is up one spot to No.3 and is one of three Top 10 singles for Dua this week, as she also debuts at No.7 with "Break My Heart" and jumps up ten places to a new peak of No.9 with her albums second release in "Physical", giving her now a sixth and seventh Top 10 single in Australia (six as lead, one as guest).

Dua swaps places with Justin Bieber's "Intentions" which is back down one spot to No.4, followed by a stable No.5 track in "Say So" for Doja Cat. The Powfu track "Death Bed" climbs a place to a new chart height of No.6 and is newly certified Gold (●) in sales, and then after the new entry for Dua is another song which climbs one spot to a new peak of No.8 in the Benee track "Supalonely", and lastly holding at No.10 for its 39th week within the Top 10 is the Tones and I track "Dance Monkey".

UP:
* Surfaces are stable at No.12 this week with their "Sunday Best" track.
* Tones and I is up one spot to a new peak of No.15 with "Bad Child".
* Lil' Mosey wanders up two spots to a new chart height of No.18 with his "Blueberry Faygo".
* Endor claims a Top 20 berth this week as "Pump it Up" is pumped up six places to a new peak of No.20.
* Also rising six to claim a new peak are The Rubens with "Live in Life" to No.21.
* After entering in the lower fifty last week the Megan Thee Stallion track "Savage" leaps up and lands within the Top 30 at No.23, becoming her second Top 100 entry and now her first Top 50 berth. In August of 2019 her track "Hot Girl Summer" made it to No.64.
* Conan Gray is up four spots to a new peak of No.24 with his single "Maniac".
* 24KGOLDN sees his "City of Angels" track fly up five spots to perch at a new peak of No.25.
* No.1 this week in 2019 was the Billie Eilish track "Bad Guy", which this week is back up six places to No.29.
* Trevor Daniel has been "Falling" for the past few week, but this week he is back up four to No.35.
* With the fourth No.1 album for 5 Seconds of Summer occurring this week, their latest single "Old Me" jumps up into the Top 50 and lands at a new peak of No.39, becoming the bands seventeenth Top 50 and Top 40 single in Australia (if this song goes no higher, this will be their lowest charted Top 50 single since they first charted in 2014).
* Rebounding four places is the Khalid and Disclosure track "Know Your Worth" (HP-31)
* Doja Cat scores her second Top 50 entry this week as her track from the 'Birds of Prey' soundtrack in "Boss B*tch" jumps up and lands at a new peak of No.46.

DOWN:
* The two songs leaving the Top 10 this week are "The Box" by Roddy Ricch (HP-4x2, WI10-11) which is down five places to No.11 and then the Halsey track "You Should Be Sad" (HP-4, WI10-8) which drops five spots also, down to No.13.
* Harry Styles' "Adore You" drops three places to No.14.
* The Weeknd's entry from last week in the song "In Your Eyes" falls back down six to No.19, while his rebounded "After Hours" track plummets back down thirty-one spots to No.48.
* The Tones and I track "Never Seen the Rain" is down four places to No.26 and newly certified as 4x▲Platinum.
* The Sam Smith single "To Die For" falls eight places to No.31.
* The Eminem and Juice WRLD teaming on "Godzilla" stumbles down fourteen spots to No.32.
* Benee might be rising with her new track, but her previous entry "Glitter" loses some lustre this week by falling sixteen spots to No.37.
* Tame Impala's "The Less I Know the Better" is this week down ten spots to No.44.
* Brockhampton see their "Sugar" single sour eight places this week to land at No.49.

FURTHER NEW ENTRIES:
* #7 - Break My Heart by Dua Lipa

* #28 - Believe it by PARTYNEXTDOOR Feat. Rihanna is taken from this weeks new entry LP at No.22 called "PARTYMOBILE", and this is his fifth Top 50 entry, but his first as a lead artist, having previously charted as a guest on tracks by Kanye West (two), Major Lazer and Zayn. It's also the second entry from the new album as the first single issued back in December of 2019 made it to No.82, "Loyal" featuring Drake as guest rapper. This is also the first new chart entry to feature Rihanna since November of 2017 when she was on the N*E*R*D track "Lemon" (HP-44, peaked April 2018 when they toured here).

Albums Chartifacts:

The fourth studio album for local rock/pop act 5 Seconds of Summer called "C A L M" becomes their fourth consecutive No.1 album in Australia this week.

"C A L M" (the four guys name in Calum, Ashton, Luke and Michael) is the 874th No.1 Album in Australia (1965 to 2020), the 724th for ARIA (1983 to 2020), the 513th to debut at No.1, the twelfth No.1 for 2020 and the 24th for the Capitol Record label, their last being the bands third set "Youngblood" (25th of June, 2018) for one week.

All of the bands albums have now gone to No.1 in their self-titled set (7th of July, 2014), the follow-up "Sounds Good, Feels Good" (2nd of Nov, 2015) and then "Youngblood" (25th of June, 2018), all albums only spending a single week at the top. While also in this past week in history the band were at No.1 with their breakout single "She Looks So Perfect" (31st of March, 2014) in Australia, New Zealand, England and Ireland (also all for a single week), while this new album has also entered at No.1 in England this week (their second No.1 there), while it could also become their fourth No.1 in the U.S.A. with next weeks chart.

This week in history also saw Silverchair land their fifth No.1 album (from five issued) so 5SOS equals their four from four No.1 albums, which occurred mostly in this week; on the 9th of April, 1995 (LP#1 Frogstomp), 8th of April, 2002 (LP#4, Diorama) and 9th of April, 2007 (LP#5, Young Modern). 5SOS also climbs from equal 157th to now equal 136th on the list for 'Accumulated Weeks at No.1' to sit alongside Bring Me the Horizon, Lana Del Rey and The Amity Affliction who've all had four No.1's and four weeks accumulated at the top. 5SOS are also now one of nineteen acts to have racked up four No.1 albums in Australia.

It's the first time that the word "Calm" has appeared a No.1 album title, the previous highest was the James Bay debut set "Chaos and the Calm" which made it to No.3 in April of 2015. The new No.1 is also the third by an Australian act to hit the top this year after Dune Ras (Feb 10th) and Tame Impala (Feb 24th), and overall this is the 239th Australian performed No.1 album (solo, duo, group, male or female), plus also the 386th No.1 set by a group (local or overseas).

The new No.1 album in New Zealand this week lands at No.2 here, the second album for Dua Lipa called "Future Nostalgia", which becomes her second Top 10 and now highest charted album, as her self-titled debut set made it to No.8 in April of 2018 spending two broken weeks within the Top 10, that album is still charting after 123 weeks within the Top 100 and is up five to No.28 this week.

Pearl Jam return to the charts at No.3 with their eleventh studio album called "Gigaton", their first new album in almost seven years, having last graced the charts with "Lightning Bolt" (HP-1 on October 2013), and by entering at No.3 it becomes their twelfth Top 10 album in Australia (10 studios, one Best of, one live album). Last weeks No.1 album for The Weeknd and "After Hours" drops down three spots to No.4, while the album landed at the top in both The U.S.A. and his home country of Canada this past week too.

The fourth of five Top 10 entries this week is the debut album for local Sunshine Coast, QLD surf-punk group The Chats, called "High Risk Behaviour", which is also the No.1 selling vinyl album of the week, and overall nationally it debuts at No.5. Falling down four places each are the compilation "Artists Unite for Fire Fight" (2 to No.6), "Fine Line" for Harry Styles (3 to No.7) and "Changes" for Justin Bieber (6 to No.10), while the No.1 album from this week last year is down three spots to No.8, the Billie Eilish set "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?". The debut album for American rapper Joyner Lucas called "ADHD" is the fifth and final Top 10 entry this week, coming in at No.9, the set featuring the June 2019 No.41 single "Isis".

UP:
* The Elton John "Diamonds" best of set rebounds seven places to No.14, with other rising collections being for Cold Chisel (41 to No.40) and INXS (back into the Top 50 at No.46).
* Taylor Swift's "Lover" set rises back up four spots to No.15.
* Back up six spots to No.16 is the third Ed Sheeran set "÷ (Divide)", while he is stable with his "No.6 Collaborations Project" at No.13.
* Luke Comes rises with both of his entries, "What You See is What You Get" (20 to No.17) and "This One's for You" (24 to No.23).
* Thanks to her new album entering at No.2, the self-titled Dua Lipa album rebounds five spots to No.28.
* The Fleetwood Mac album "Rumours" started its eight week run in Australia this upcoming week in 1977 (April 11th) {plus a 21 week run in Canada}, and this week the album is back up four spots to No.39.

DOWN:
* With five new Top 10 entries, the five dropouts are the Post Malone third album "Hollywood's Bleeding" (HP-1, WI10-23a) down four to No.11, followed by the Niall Horan set "Heartbreak Weather" (HP-2, WI10-2), which descends fifteen spots to No.26. Three of last weeks debuts to the Top 10 all slip down in the lower fifty this week in The Smith Street Band with "Live from The Triffid" (HP-4, WI10-1), "Velvet" for Adam Lambert (HP-8, WI10-1) and the Kenny Rogers set "All the Hits and All New Love Songs" (HP-10, WI10-1).
* Falling six places each are the Eminem set "Music to Be Murdered by" and Lauv with "~How I'm Feeling~" to No.20 and No.21 respectively.
* Lil' Uzi Vert sees his No.1 set from four weeks ago "Eternal Atake" slide down eight to No.25.
* Last weeks entry for Childish Gambino is this week down eighteen places to No.29.
* Tones and I fall five spots this week to No.35 with her debut EP "The Kids are Coming".
* Another of last weeks new entries to slide this week is the Conan Gray set "Kid Krow", which drops twenty-four spots to land at No.50.

Short run at #1 for The Weeknd
oh wow, I wasn't expecting Roses to quite make #1 this week! Nice. Also fantastic for Boss Bitch to make the top 50 after it looked like it was flopping during February.
Pretty wild to have a song I discovered on the Lithuanian Spotify chart, with all the make of being the latest Dynoro-wave song I'd love that would never spread far, now be a #1 in the UK and Australia. Kind of like when Lost Frequencies hit #1 but better. Probably my favourite #1 since Look What You Made Me Do (and even that's close), and also, interestingly, the first dance #1 since late 2016 (Closer, or Rockabye if you count it as dance). Imanbek must be the first Kazakh artist to ever come anywhere near #1 too I presume.

Also nice to see Endor top 20 and Joyner Lucas' album top 10.
I’ll add to the “Yay, Roses” chorus; very pleased to see it at #1!
Didn't think that Rose's would make it to #1 this week either. Nice to see Physical in the Top 10 too.

chartifacts, entries and certs updated for ya'll.
