Singles Chartifacts:
The eighth No.1 single for 2020 occurs this week as "Mood" by 24KGOLDN featuring Iann Dior climbs up one place to take out the ARIA Singles Chart top spot this week.

"Mood" becomes the 1096th No.1 Single in Australia (1940 to 2020), the 531st for ARIA (1983 to 2020), as I mentioned the eighth for 2020 (1999 was also up to 8 {out of 9} by this stage), the first for the American rapper 24KGOLDN and 120th for the record label Columbia (under all its guises since 1940) and their second for the year after "Savage Love" from July. Plus "Mood" also rises from Gold in sales to this week being recertified ▲Platinum.

This is the third song in 80 years to be a No.1 track featuring the word 'Mood' in its title, the first was waaay back in November of 1942 for Glenn Miller and "In the Mood" (5 months at #1), the last was near the end of the 80's when the Jive Bunny mash-up/medley "Swing the Mood" spent three weeks at the top from the 23rd of October, 1989. The new No.1 song is also the 196th chart-topper by an American Solo Male Artist (3rd this year), while 24kGOLDN becomes the 419th American Performer (solo, duo, group, male or female) to hit the top here (and the fourth this year), and lastly the song becomes the 706th track to be performed by an American artist to hit the top here and also the sixth for 2020.

I predicted last week that "Mood" might take over the top spot this week, due to most songs this year lasting six weeks at No.1, and the 24KGOLDN track also starts it's No.1-run at the top in New Zealand this week too, while the song holds it top spot positions in England (2nd wk), Ireland (3rd wk) and Germany (4th week). So after six weeks at No.1 "WAP" for Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion is down one spot to No.2 this week, followed by a third week at its peak of No.3 for the Joel Corry and MNEK song "Head & Heart", which is also now ▲Platinum in sales, with the next two tracks on hold this week in the new Canadian No.1 single "Holy" for Justin Bieber and Chance the Rapper, here at No.4 for a second week while the former six week running No.1 "Savage Love" by Jawsh 685 x Jason DeRulo remains at No.5.

Moving up one spot to a new peak of No.6 is the Internet Money track "Lemonade", while rising back up one spot each are "Watermelon Sugar" for Harry Styles and "Breaking Me" for Topic (18th T10 week) to No.7 and No.8 respectively. Returning to the Top 10 for a 26th overall week is the SAINt JHN track "Roses" which rises back up three places to No.9, making it now the outright seventh longest running Top 10 of all time in Australia (one week shy of the 27 by 'Old Town Road' from 2019). Tate McRae sees her first entry "You Broke Me First" rise up four spots to surpass its former peak of No.12 and score a new chart height this week at No.10, with the song having so far cracked the Top 10 in Norway (#5), Ireland (#6) and England (#9).

UP:
A rise of five places occurs for the Pop Smoke track "For the Night", moving to a new peak of No.13, followed by a two place rise to a new peak of No.14 for the Jason DeRulo track "Take You Dancing". Leaping up thirteen spots to land at No.16 is Headie One with his single "Ain't it Different", while his debut album "Edna" will be out next Friday (Oct 9th). Miley Cyrus' "Midnight Sky" (HP-16x2) is back up a couple of spots to No.17, while last weeks new entry for Ritt Momney and his cover of "Put Your Records on" jumps up fourteen places this week to land at No.20, and in doing so it surpasses the original 2006 Corrine Bailey Rae's version which peaked at No.30.
Machine Gun Kelly sees his new album debut at No.2 this week, which gives a boost to his latest single entry "My Ex's Best Friend" which flies up thirteen places this week to No.22, after which the next tracks to climb up the charts are both songs from last weeks lower fifty chart region, "Diamonds" for Sam Smith which is up ten spots to No.46 and "Mad at Disney" by salem ilese which is up five to No.50.

DOWN:
Two songs leave the Top 10 this week starting with "Rockstar" by DaBaby and Roddy Ricch (HP-1x6, WI10-21) which is down only one spot to No.11, while last weeks second new entry debut to the Ten in the Keith Urban and Pink collaboration "One Too Many" (HP-6, WI10-1) tumbles down twelve spots this week to land at No.18.
Drake's "Laugh Now Cry Later" falls four spots to No.15, and Pop Smoke is down to just two entries this week, with "Mood Swings" being his second, and it drops four to No.19. The returning U.S.A. No.1 single this week is the BTS track "Dynamite" (3rd week) and here it is also down four spots, to No.21. Juice WRLD also reduces his Top 50 entries to just two this week in "Come & Go" (20 to No.25) and "Wishing Well" (42 to No.44).
Drake's second drop of the week occurs on the DJ Khaled track "Popstar" which falls five spots to No.26 and is newly certified Gold (●) in sales, with another five place dropper being the Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande track "Rain on Me" (24 to No.29). Conan Grey's "Heather" falls six to No.33, and Ava Max also drops six places to No.37 with "Kings & Queens". Regard's second entry "Secrets" is only down one spot to No.38 and is now ▲Platinum in sales.

NEW ENTRIES:
* #31 - Franchise by Travis Scott feat Young Thug & M.I.A. (Cactus Jack/Epic) is now the 20th Top 100 and the 14th Top 50 entry for the U.S. rapper and his fourth entry for 2020, having already charted this year with "The Scotts" (HP-4, May), "Goosebumps" (HP-45, May) and on the Kanye West track "Wash us in the Blood" (HP-31, July). He also has a collaboration album with Kid Cudi as The Scotts due in the next few weeks/months too.

* #39 - Dreams (re-entry) by Fleetwood Mac (Warner Brothers), the 1977 single returns to the chart this week thanks to a viral video on TikTok this past week. The song makes its third entry too, having first hit No.19 in early August of 1977 (Kent Music Report), while it last charted in late May of 2011 on the ARIA Charts for a single week at No.90.

Albums Chartifacts:
Half Australian/Japanese artist Joji sees his second album "Nectar" debut at No.1 this week, becoming the first act from Japan to hit the top in Australia.

"Nectar" by Joji is the 893rd No.1 Album in Australia (1965 to 2020), the 743rd for ARIA (1983 to 2020), the 31st No.1 album of 2020, the 530th to debut in the top spot (since 1976) and the first for his record label 88rising and 12 Tone Music.

Joji, whose real name is George Kusunoki Miller is half Japanese and half Australia, born in Japan, educated in both Canada and America, while he currently lives in Brooklyn, New York, so I pinned down his origins as from Japan, thus he becomes the first ever Japanese artist to hit the top spot on the Australian Albums Chart (the singles chart has seen one act from Japan hit the top in 1963, Kyu Sakamoto with "Sukiyaki"), plus he also lands his first Top 10 album in Australia with his new set, as his first album "Ballads 1" went to No.17 in November of 2018.

This is the first time that the word 'Nectar' has appeared in a No.1 album title (or even a charted album title), and as I already mentioned he is the first Japanese act to hit the top here, but he is also the 254th Solo Male Artist (local or overseas) to hit No.1 in Australia, and the ninth solo male to hit the top in 2020 after Harry Styles, Eminem (both January), Lil' Uzi Vert, The Weeknd (both March), Drake (May), Pop Smoke and Juice WRLD (both July) and last weeks by Keith Urban (Sept).

The fifth studio album and fifth entry here (4 studios and 1 EP) for U.S. artist Machine Gun Kelly is called "Tickets to My Downfall" and it enters at No.2 this week to become his first ever Top 10 berth in Australia, beating the No.26 peak of his fourth set "Hotel Diablo" from July of 2019. This is followed by the ninth album for U.S. alt-rock band Deftones called "OHMS" debuting at No.3, becoming their eighth entry here (7 studios and 1 best of), plus their fourth Top 5/10 album, with their previous set "Gore" landing the No.1 spot in April of 2016 for a single week.

Last week's No.1 album for Keith Urban and "The Speed of Now Part 1" drops down three places to No.4, while also falling three to No.5 is Pop Smoke with "Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon", the No.1 album this week in both New Zealand and Canada (8th week in both places), which are followed by two more Top 10 debuts. Coming in at No.6 is the second album for local metalcore act Alpha Wolf called "A Quiet Place to Die", becoming their first Top 10 album and second entry after "Mono" made it to No.29 in July of 2017, after which the new English No.1 album comes in at No.7, "Ultra Mono" for UK act IDLES, their third album and it becomes their first Top 10 here, plus their first chart entry here.

Returning for a eighth week at No.1 in America this week is the Taylor Swift album "folklore", which here drops down five places to No.8, followed by a four place slide to No.9 for the Harry Styles set "Fine Line", logging its 42nd week within the Top 10 here, after which the Juice WRLD set "Legends Never Die" falls down six places to No.10.

UP:
With the track "Dreams" for Fleetwood Mac returning to the singles chart at No.39 this week thanks to a viral TikTok video, its parent album "Rumours" flies back up the chart twenty-five places to land this week at No.17, with the album last appearing within the Top 20 back in March of 2013.
Eminem's collection "Curtain Call: The Hits" leaps back up twenty-seven spots to No.22, followed by the Maroon 5 best of "Singles Collection", rising sixteen spots to No.23 (not far from its peak of No.19), with further rising GH sets being for Green Day (60 to No.44), Foo Fighters (57 to No.46) and Jason DeRulo (53 to No.49).
With a new live Queen with Adam Lambert album issued on Friday, the bands biopic soundtrack for 'Bohemian Rhapsody' rebounds twelve places to No.26, with other film sets rising for 'The Greatest Showman' (32 to No.31), and there's a new peak for 'Julie & the Phantoms Season 1' set (45 to No.35).
The Weeknd's "After Hours" album climbs back up thirteen spots to No.27 and Lime Cordiale's "14 Steps to a Better You" rises back up three spots to No.28. Taylor Swift's older charting album "1989" is back up four to No.33 and the XXXTentacion set "?" moves back up seven spots to No.37.

DOWN:
Five albums leave the Top 10 this week, the first of which is the Billie Eilish 75 week running Top 10 and former No.1 "When We All Fall Asleep..." (HP-1x6, WI10-75) down five to No.11, followed by the Luke Combs second set "What You See is What You Get" (HP-1, WI10-12) dropping two to No.12. Katy Perry and her "Smile" (HP-2, WI10-4) set falls eleven places to No.20, with the last two dropouts being new entries from last week for Ava Max and "Heaven & Hell" (HP-7, WI10-1) dropping thirty-two places to No.39 and departing the Top 50 is the six track EP by Mildlife and "Automatic" (HP-8, WI10-1).
Last week both the INXS and Cold Chisel best of albums rebounded, but this week "The Very Best" for INXS is down one spot to No.24, but more so the "The Best of - All for You" by Cold Chisel plummets thirty-eight places to No.50. The 'Hamilton' cast recording drops down four to No.30, as does Lewis Capaldi, declining four spots to No.34 with the top selling UK album of the year (so far) "Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent".
Vika & Linda's "Sunday (The Gospel According to Iso)" flies down twenty places to No.38, with the Lady Gaga set "Chromatica" dropping fifteen spots to No.43. The No.1 album from three weeks ago for Marilyn Manson and "We are Chaos" falls this week twenty-three places to No.47, while the entry last week for both Alicia Keys (#13) and Yours Truly (#19) drop down into the lower fifty this week.

FURTHER NEW ENTRIES:
* #1 (LP#2) - Nectar by Joji (88rising/12 Tone Music/Sony)

* #2 (LP#5) - Tickets to My Downfall by Machine Gun Kelly (Bad Boy/Interscope)

* #3 (LP#9) - OHMS by Deftones (Reprise)

* #6 (LP#2) - A Quiet Place to Die by Alpha Wolf (Greyscale)

* #7 (LP#3) - Ultra Mono by IDLES (Partisan Records)

* #32 (LP#8) - The Ascension by Sufjan Stevens (Asthmatic Kitty) is the eighth studio album for the American artist and the fifth chart entry in Australia, plus now his second Top 50 placing, as his seventh set "Carrie & Lowell" made it to No.11 here in April of 2015.

* #45 (mix#5) - Hellboy (mixtape) by Lil' Peep (AUTMNY) is the fifth and final mixtape for the US rapper who passed in November of 2017, plus his second chart entry here as his second album "Come Over When You're Sober, Pt.2" made it to No.15 in November of 2018. This mixtape was originally released in September of 2016 and only just got a commercial release last week.

* #48 (GH) - Greatest Hits (and More) by Helen Reddy (Capitol) enters after her passing at the age of 78 this past week, with the Australian born and raised, then American based singer scoring 13 singles during her chart career here locally from 1968 to 1975, landing two No.1 singles in "Delta Dawn" (5 weeks) and "Leave Me Alone (Ruby Red Dress)" (4 weeks) both in 1973. Her biopic 'I Am Woman' was issued in early September of this year, and this is her third best of set to chart in Australia after "Helen Reddy's Greatest Hits" (HP-42, 1976) and "The Best of Helen Reddy" (HP-29, 1984).

Just checked this, and YES! at the new #1. Even if it is only for a week, I'm still happy it made it.
