Hey everyone!! So as many of you know, I've been planning to make a list of my top songs of the 2010s. I didn't know exactly what length to make it so I just sort of went with the flow and worked it out as I went, and I settled on the 1900 for no particular reason.
I'll be counting down my entire list over the next couple of weeks, with the top 100 on Saturday, December 19! I'm so excited to share my list with you all and I hope you're as excited to see where all your faves land as I have been with all your lists so far.
My full broadcast schedule is as follows (times in AEDST) December 3: 8PM (1900-1701) December 4: 8PM (1700-1501) December 5: 8PM (1500-1251) December 7: 8PM (1250-1001) December 8: 8PM (1000-751) December 10: 8PM (750-501) December 11: 8PM (500-251) December 14: 6:30PM (250-176) December 16: 6:30PM (175-101) December 19: 5PM (100-1)
I'll only be broadcasting in full the top 250, from 251 onwards are small snippets of each song in the countdown.
as with anton's list, we'll be chatting on Discord. For those who don't have the links and wish to join, memo myself!
Also just some random ramblings. I just want to say that like many here, I was first drawn to current day music via the ARIA chart. Although I had had small times of listening to chart music, I didn't really get into it until 2007. From the on it became an obsession, looking at the ARIA chart each week and hearing new songs every week. Once I outgrew that, I started looking more into the UK and US charts, around 2010, mainly via BillboardGoddess' Youtube channel (the nostalgia from that really hits in this countdown). Through the last 18 months or so of high school, though, my interest took a backseat as I had school and somewhat of a social life to worry about. After school finished though, I got back into it, and by mid-2013, I'd found this site as a way to broaden my horizons even further, starting to find music that wasn't even on any charts, showing me that there was way, way more to music than what was on the charts. And it shows in this list - a lot of the tracks from 2010-13 are chart-only hits, and with each year subsequent, the songs on the list get to be less and less of hits. Is that me getting old, or is it me continuing to broaden my horizons? Possibly both, in equal measure, but it makes for a pretty interesting and at times bizarre list, going from abrasive dance or rock, to a #1 hit, sometimes straight after one another. It's almost like two different people made the list, but I promise you it's a pretty true reflection of how my tastes have developed and refined over the past 10 years, going from a naïve 14 year old to a 24 year old with a pretty good understanding of what I love and otherwise. Anyway, it should be a wild ride, I hope you enjoy it Last edited:
So we're into the business end now! Only 250 songs remain, hopefully many of your faves still to come A reminder that 250-176 start from 6:30pm on Monday, followed by 175-101 at the same time Wednesday, and 100-1 at 5pm Saturday.
These are how many songs remain for each year: 2010: 37 2011: 28 2012: 38 2013: 25 2014: 18 2015: 25 2016: 21 2017: 20 2018: 17 2019: 21
There are only 2 artists with more than 4 songs remaining, so it should be a really good mix of different artists and genres with what's to come. Hope you all enjoy
and here are my 100 favourite songs of the decade! What a wild ride it's been, one of the most fun things I've ever done and I'm glad to have shared it with everyone here I'll post some more stats and things over the next week or so!
I've picked some of your higher listed songs that I'm fairly sure I don't know. I'll let you know which ones I liked when I get through my random playlist of 25 songs. It includes #1 and #120 and the others are in that range.
It's great to see some old favourites of mine very high in the list, such as Midnight City, Somebody Else, Blinding Lights, Plans, Call Me Maybe, Don't You Worry Child, Magic, Young Blood, Promises, Who's That Chick?, Seasons (Waiting On You), Runaway (U&I) and Be The One. Most of my playlist were enjoyable. I most liked Elevate, Treetops, Dancing On Glass and Dream Steppin'. Cub Sport were fairly good too. Tuesday I had known before, but the popular Euro version. So I now realise your #73 was the original song. I rediscovered Stereo Love and Dreamers that I'd nearly forgotten. They have held up well over the years.
