Singles Chartifacts:

For an eleventh non-consecutive week the song "Mood" by rapper 24KGOLDN with both Iann Dior and Justin Bieber becomes the equal longest running No.1 in Australia for this decade.

"Mood" ties with 2020's other long running No.1 for The Weeknd and "Blinding Lights", which is sitting at No.10 this week and close to breaking another record itself, as it logs a 40th week within the Top 10, one week shy of the 2019/20 record-holder "Dance Monkey" for Tones and I at 41 weeks. "Mood" is also logging it's 20th week within the Top 10 and is back at No.1 in both America (6th overall week) and Canada (10th overall week there) after being knocked off by the seasonal Mariah Carey tune over the past few weeks. The "Mood" songs eleventh week at the top also makes it the equal tenth longest running No.1 in Australia, tying with "Mull of Kintyre" by Wings (1978), "(Everything I Do) I Do it for You" by Bryan Adams (1991), "Wannabe" by The Spice Girls (1996), "God's Plan" for Drake (2018) and the aforementioned Weeknd song "Blinding Lights" (2020).

What could become the next No.1 single in Australia is the current Spotify No.1 single for local rapper The Kid Laroi and "Without You", which logs a second week at its peak of No.2 and returns to No.1 in Norway, while it's also Top 10 in Ireland, Finland and leaps from #26 to No.7 in England. This is followed by a stable No.3 entry for Joel Corry and MNEK with "Head & Heart" (21st week within the Top 10), after which is a new peak at No.4 for the Dua Lipa track "Levitating", up one spot from last week.

Debuting at No.5 is a new Justin Bieber track called "Anyone", which becomes his third (of four, "Lonely" peaked at No.11, TW-48) recent entries to both land a Top 10 debut and be taken from a forthcoming album (which has no title or release date as yet), while he also scored a fourth Top 10 recently as a part of the Shawn Mendes duet "Monster" (Dec 2020, HP-7, TW-29). The fourth and fifth stable songs within the Top 10 this week are "Positions" by Ariana Grande and "Afterglow" by Ed Sheeran at No.6 and No.7 respectively.

Local singer Tones and I scores her third Top 10 single in Australia this week as her latest track "Fly Away" moves up three spots to score a new peak of No.8, it follows on from "Never Seen the Rain" (HP-7, peaked Dec 2019) and her first entry "Dance Monkey" (HP-1x24, TW-28, from August 2019). The second entry this week for The Kid Laroi is his former No.6 peaking first Top 10 sojourn, "So Done", which is up one spot to No.9, while his mixtape and EP are back to their former peak of No.3 this week.

TOP 20: With a mass exodus of seasonal tunes this week, over 80% of the chart moves back up this week, with all of the songs within the Top 20 rising back up, with CJ reclaiming his former No.13 peak for a second time with his track "Whoopty", while Ariana Grande rebounds six places to No.15 with "34+35". Like the summer weather in Australia this season, the Harry Styles track "Watermelon Sugar" is up and down the charts, this week it rebounds (again) seven places to No.17. The Sigala and James Arthur track "Lasting Lover" cracks the Top 20 for the first time, up eight places to a new chart height of No.19, while "Lemonade" for Internet Money moves back up five places to No.20.
TOP 30: Glass Animals take another leap this week with their highest charting single here in "Heat Waves", which is up ten places to a new peak of No.22, while Miley Cyrus has two songs within the Top 30 again this week, "Midnight Sky" is back up four to No.24 and "Prisoner" is stable at No.30. Climbing back into the Top 30 are "Roses" for SAINt JHN (31 to No.27) and "Monster" for Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber (35 to No.29).
TOP 40: Former six week running No.1's in "Savage Love" (#33 to No.31) and "Rockstar" (#37 to No.32) are both back up this week, followed by the third week running Irish No.1 single for Meduza and Dermot Kennedy with "Paradise", which jumps up seven places to a new peak of No.33. Topic and his track "Breaking Me" rebounds five to No.34, while Dua Lipa's "Don't Start Now" takes a six place rise to No.35 (it was sitting at No.50 at the end of last year for two weeks). The first of two rising Lewis Capaldi tracks in "Someone You Loved" jumps up eight to No.37, while his second Top 10 entry "Before You Go" leaps back up fifteen places to No.49. Ritt Momney's cover of "Put Your Records on" is back up five places to No.39 and newly certified ▲Platinum in sales, while DJ and producer Tiësto lands his fourth Top 50 entry in Australia with "The Business", which jumps up fourteen places to land at No.40, with his last Top 50 entry here being 2018's "Jackie Chan" (HP-13).
TOP 50: Lil' Nas X's latest track "Holiday" is up one spot to a new peak of No.42 while his former long running No.1 "Old Town Road" climbs to a new certification of 13x▲Platinum, and the second and final Top 50 new sales certification goes to Nea with "Some Say", which is up five spots to No.42 and now 2x▲Platinum. Rising back into the Top 50 from the lower fifty this week are "Circles" by Post Malone (53 to No.44), "Wonder" by Shawn Mendes (52 to No.45), "Dancing in the Moonlight" by Jubel (51 to No.46), "For the Night" by Pop Smoke (57 to No.47), "Lonely" by Justin Bieber (58 to No.48) and the aforementioned "Before You Go" by Lewis Capaldi (64 to No.49). Finally Jason DeRulo with Nuka landed a new peak at No.50 with the collaboration "Love Not War (The Tampa Beat)", which rises eleven places this week and has been charting for five weeks within the Top 100.

TOP 20: no dropping tracks
TOP 30: The three tracks which actually fall within the 11>50 section this week are all located within the Top 30 chart region. "Holy" for Justin Bieber is down two to No.21, "Dynamite" by BTS is also declining two places to No.25, while the biggest (non-seasonal) fall is for former No.1 "WAP" by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, which drops four spots to No.26.
TOP 40: no dropping tracks
TOP 50: no dropping tracks, but we do say goodbye to a slew of ten seasonal/Xmas songs, the biggest drops occurring for last weeks Top 10 entries in "All I Want for Christmas is You" by Mariah Carey (LW-4) and "Last Christmas" for Wham! (LW-9), while we also saw big drops for Michael Buble with "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" (LW-14) and "Santa Tell Me" by Ariana Grande (LW-18), while there were also Top 50 dropouts for Band Aid (#34), Sia (#38), John Lennon (#46), The Ronettes (#47), Paul Kelly (#49) and Frank Sinatra (#50).

* #5 - Anyone by Justin Bieber (Def Jam)

* #38 - Good Days by SZA (Top Dawg/RCA) becomes the eleventh Top 100 (7 as lead, 4 as guest) and her ninth Top 50 entry for the U.S. singer and rapper born Solana Imani Rowe, with her last Top 50 chart entry being the duet with Justin Timberlake "The Other Side" from 'Trolls: World Tour' film (HP-43, March 2020), while her last Top 100 entry was the No.84 peaking track from mid-September of 2020 "Hit Different" featuring Ty Dolla $ign.

Albums Chartifacts:

Taylor Swift secures a fourth straight week at No.1 with her ninth album "evermore", which equals the four weeks her eighth set "folklore" (TW-7) achieved in August of 2020.

Of the seven No.1 albums that Taylor has had here in Australia, these last two albums are now her equal second longest running chart-toppers, but they are also now her equal longest-consecutive running No.1 albums at four weeks apiece. Her "1989" set (TW-31) did spend nine weeks at No.1 during 2014 and 2015, but it's longest continual run was three weeks from January 26th, 2015. Taylor also takes her tally of 'Accumulated Weeks at No.1: Albums (1965 to 2021)' to 24 weeks from those seven No.1 albums, moving her 20th on that listing, just ahead of Celine Dion (24 weeks from 5 #1's) and 60's/70's artists Creedence Clearwater Revival (24 weeks from 3 #1's). If she stays again next week she will equal Savage Garden, The Rolling Stones and U2. "evermore" also returns for a second week at No.1 in both Canada and England this week.

This time last year Harry Styles was sitting at No.1 for a third and final broken week with his second album "Fine Line", and this week that set rebounds three places to land at No.2, PLUS the album also logs it's 52nd week (1 year) within the Top 10. His former band's longest running Top 10 album was "Up All Night" at 33 weeks, and all up 1D amassed 64 weeks within the Top 10 from their five albums, while Harry Styles solo has notched up 58 weeks from his two albums (6 for his self-titled set and now 52 for his second).

The highest of two Australian acts within the Top 10 this week is local rapper The Kid Laroi with his mixtape "F**k Love" backed with his EP "Savage", which moves back up three places to No.3, the albums original entry position (August 2020) and it's repeak spot in mid-November 2020, meaning it is now logging a third overall week at this peak of No.3. Plus with two Top 10 singles (#2 and #9) this week it could continue further up the charts in the new few weeks. The second and final local act within the ten is AC/DC with "Power Up", which is down two spots to No.4 after four weeks at No.1 and two weeks at No.2 and one week at No.3 (meaning it's now stopped at all four positions on its way down the chart).

Jumping back into the Top 10 this week, up eight spots to No.5, is Pop Smoke with "Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon", scoring an 18th week within the Top 10, after which Miley Cyrus' latest entry "Plastic Hearts" is back up two places to No.6. Taylor Swift's second Top 10 entry this week in the expanded edition of her eighth set "folklore", which is down three places to No.7, while Billie Eilish is stable at No.9 with her debut set "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?". Two further albums returning to the Top 10 this week are "Future Nostalgia" for Dua Lipa (12 to No.8, 16th T10wk) and Ariana Grande with her latest set "Positions" (11 to No.10, 6th T10wk).

TOP 20: With a heap of Xmas albums departing the Albums chart this week, the tsunami of albums moving back up starts outside of the Top 10 with Juice WRLD's "Legends Never Die" (19 to No.13), the Ed Sheeran third album "÷ (Divide)" (27 to No.13, 200th week within the Top 100) which was sitting in the Top 50 region three weeks ago. Sam Smith and "Love Goes" (18 to No.15), "Rumours" for Fleetwood Mac (22 to No.16), "This One's for You" by Luke Combs (31 to No.19, while his second set is sitting at #11 this week, giving him two T20 albums this week), and Lewis Capaldi's debut set (29 to No.20).
TOP 30: Eight of the ten albums here climb back up this week, The Weeknd's "After Hours" (49 to No.21), Post Malone with "Hollywood's Bleeding" (37 to No.22), almost to it's former No.19 peak is the Maroon 5 "Singles Collection" (59 to No.23), Ed Sheeran's "No.6 Collaboration Project" (43 to No.24), Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' soundtrack (35 to No.25), Eminem's "Curtain Call: The Hits" (42 to No.26), Lime Cordiale's "14 Steps to a Better You" (40 to No.27) and leaping back up thirty-one places to land at No.29 is the XXXTentacion set "?".
TOP 40: Taylor Swift can claim four albums within the Top 40 this week, as her sixth set "1989" is up seventeen spots to No.31 and her seventh album "Lover" rises five to No.34. Machine Gun Kelly has a massive thirty-four place rebound to No.33 with his latest album "Tickets to My Downfall", while the self-titled Dua Lipa album had dropped out of the Top 100 in the last week of 2020 (Dec 28th chart), and now this week it's zooming back up forty spots to No.35. The self-titled Harry Styles set rises ten spots to No.36, and also rising back up from the lower fifty depths are "Beerbongs & Bentley's" for Post Malone (64 to No.37), "Sunlight" for Spacey Jane (74 to No.38), "Manic" by Halsey (65 to No.39) and the Cold Chisel "The Best of: All for You" (53 to No.40).
TOP 50: Ed Sheeran's third and final Top 50 entry this week is his second set "x (Multiply)" which moves back up thirty-nine places to No.42, followed by a forty-nine chart-rung leap for Megan Thee Stallion's album "Good News" to No.43. Jack Harlow's debut album "That's What They All Say" entered at No.46 four weeks ago, and this week it rebounds back up forty places to score a new peak of No.44. Also rising back up are 'The Greatest Showman' soundtrack (80 to No.45), "Goodbye and Good Riddance" for Juice WRLD (99 to No.47), "thank u, next" by Ariana Grande (70 to No.49) and Travis Scott with "Astroworld" (62 to No.50).

TOP 20: Three albums leave the Top 10 this week, with Luke Combs' second set "What You See is What You Get" (HP-1x1, WI10-15a) down one spot to No.11, followed by Guy Sebastian with "T.R.U.T.H." (HP-1x1, WI10-10), down five to No.12 and leaving the Top 10 for the first time. This now becomes Guy's third longest running Top 10 album in Australia after "Armageddon" (14 weeks in 2012) and his best of "Twenty Ten" (12 weeks, 2010). The third and final dropout is the Michael Buble "Christmas" album (HP-1x15, WI10-60), which leaves the chart this week from No.3 last week. The third and final dropping album within the Top 20 is the Elton John "Diamonds" collection, down two to No.18.
TOP 30: The only two falling Top 30 entries are for The Avalanches with "We Will Always Love You", down eight to No.28 and Andrea Bocelli's "Believe" album, dipping five spots to No.30.
TOP 40: A single drop in the 31>40 chart section for INXS with "The Very Best of", down only two spots to No.32.
TOP 50: Three albums decline in the lower chart region, starting with Keith Urban's "The Speed of Now, Part 1", down nine places to No.41, followed by Shawn Mendes' latest set "Wonder" which falls twenty places to No.46, while the Tame Impala ARIA Award winning set "The Slow Rush" plummets twenty-five spots this week to No.48. Other big declining albums which fall into the lower fifty this week are by Playboi Carti (#15, U.S. #1 LP TW), BTS (#17 & #34), Paul McCartney (#21). Delta Goodrem (#24), Queen + Lambert (#28 & #41) and Kylie Minogue (#33).

*ARIA Chart info is based on sales for the week from the 1st to the 7th of January, 2021.

Any updates on Gaga's certificates this week? Thx
The extra info is based on the additional genre charts ARIA include on their site, so there's no Gaga info to be observed.
It was said that new certificates would be issued this week
chartifacts updated for this week.

Adelita; the new certs won't be out until Tuesday (possibly).
Fine, thanks.
I have everything crossed that Blinding Lights is top 10 again this week, I've never wanted anything so badly before
When will the official 2020 ARIA EOY Countdowns be released?
ARIA just posted on Facebook that it'll be Jan 15th
Thank you Hijinx.

Year End charts are coming very late this year!
Hey, anyone know why Heat Waves is so high? Very out of the loop chart wise these days but i can't imagine Glass Animals having a hit single Thrilled if this is a real hit for them tho.
It's got a few things going for it:

1. Instant positive buzz when it came out
2. Some variation on TikTok viral popularity
3. Actually getting notable Spotify playlisting now which it didn't 6 months ago
4. It's summer now and stupidly hot
5. It's just now unleashing its kinetic energy after weeks of being held back by Taylor Swift/Christmas/2020 Rewind
6. It's likely going to poll well in the Hottest 100 and you often see steady growth in the late stage of voting (even Spacey Jane just made the top 200 on Spotify)

Thought it might be interesting to compare the Australian artists and dance EOYs to past years since they have so many repeat songs. For years that songs didn't chart, I've put '●' if the song existed, and '-' if it's before the song was released.

(2015-2019 have top 100s for dance while the years before and after have only 50. Walking On A Dream must not have been considered dance in 2008-2009)
On the regular singles EOY, I believe Perfect is the first song to make it in 4 years, and we now have a considerable slab of songs that have done it 3 times. Let me know if I've missed any.

From the lengths of charts that exist on ARIA's site (top 100s since 1997 and top 50s since 1988), I *think* Say You Won't Let Go is also the 2nd song to make multiple EOYs non-consecutively, after Titanium which made 2011 and 2013 but not 2012. With larger and/or older charts, Bohemian Rhapsody (#67 of 2019, #59 of 1992, and according to Wikipedia #2 of 1976) would also be one.
Is ARIA's decade-end based on sales or chartrun? Thanks.
Worth noting though that it's only based on when/if ARIA is tracking the songs which seems to have no rhyme or reason sometimes (Riptide seems to have disappeared from ARIA's radar some months ago for instance, which could have curious implications come a 2020s End Of Decade list).

Mood Swings & Dreams (possibly What You Know Bout Love) are both missing from the top 100 list this year because ARIA doesn't retroactively apply those missing weeks.

if Midnight Sky made it with a far inferior run, positions must have JUST missed the list. The former making it while the latter missed out is probably the biggest curiosity to me.

As for some of the old stuff making it, I have no words lol
If ARIA's decade-end is based on sales, then that means that all of the songs above The Chainsmokers' Closer (#15 in the decade-end and 16x P certified in the same report), like Adele's Rolling In The Deep and Passenger's Let Her Go are also eligible for at least 16x P in Australia, right?
To be honest I'm not sure. There's a level of discrepancy in the certifications that leads me to believe that they're often only moderately educated guesses (like someone's looked at Spotify totals, extrapolated and calculated that a song has sold *amount* and ARIA says 'okay'). Uptown Funk always looked egregiously overcertified and perhaps Closer is as well (not one I've looked closely into tbh).
I don't really believe that, because all the songs on ARIA's decade-end were really massive in Australia and around the world, so I think they actually have a very high level of certification in the country. In addition, Someone Like You and Rolling In The Deep were certified 7x P in 2012, making it entirely possible for them to have managed to sell another nine platinum by the end of the decade, becoming eligible for at least 16x P, as the songs from the first half of the decade, in addition to having sold enormously in pure sales, they also have huge amounts of streams on streaming platforms, a component that was not included in certifications until 2014.
The discrepancy between accreditations comes from the number of streams / downloads not included by ARIA in their weekly charts + the record company's reactivity to certify their products. I think that Sony tended to include video streams into their certs at some point. Not sure they still do though.

Once you include all downloads, audio and video streams of Uptown Funk for instance, the 18x Platinum accreditation doesn't look exaggerated.
All record companies include all types of consumption when claiming certificates for ARIA, just as they do with all other institutions in the music market (pure sales + audio streams + video streams). ;P
