I don't have very high hopes for this year musically, sadly.

When I worked at a hospital ten years ago, one of the nurses would put the radio on when she went to lunch. I was one of the ambulance drivers but I had lunch at the hospital with her and the radio would play music that people would remember.

Maybe I am speaking too early, but how many of these songs are people going to remember? The only big name here (Crowded House) is a group that has been around for three and a half decades.

Thanks irelander.
Picked up 2 songs from your list that I had missed and 1 that I went back to and gave more time to its benefit.
@Bigteeth2021

I can't speak for everyone else but I know personally a lot of my favourites aren't going to be songs a lot of people will remember. I'm fine with that, I just listen to what I like regardless of how well known it is or how remembered it will be. Just my thoughts.

I'll probably do my own mid-year at some point within the next month
Here I am, late as usual.

To be fair, I have been listening to so much more music this year that it has been hard to keep up with it all and fall behind. I know I say that every year, but up until this point in the year, I have already listened to more music than I did in 2018, and I'm going to eclipse my streaming numbers from last year (my previous highest year) by a considerable margin.

I will be doing the same thing as previous years, where I'm only listing my fifty favourites (in alphabetical order by artist), and due to there being limited spaces and plenty of music I would love to share, I will only include my favourite song from an artist, even if they would have many songs in a top 50 overall.

My favourite ten of the fifty will be put in bold, so you have a greater idea of what I'm really loving so far this year.

Anyway, here is the list:

24kGoldn – Love Or Lust
42 Dugg – 4 Da Gang (with Roddy Ricch)
Altin Gün – Yüce Dağ Başinda
Ayo Britain – Nene
Black Country, New Road – Opus
Black Midi – John L
Bugs – Diamond
Career – Microwave
Chad VanGaalen – Samurai Sword
Chloe x Halle – Hazy
Danny L Harle – On A Mountain (DJ Danny)
Deijuvhs – UCK! DXD
Dennis Lloyd – Anxious
Dimension – Sensory Division
DJ Khaled – BODY IN MOTION (feat. Bryson Tiller, Lil Baby & Roddy Ricch)
Dorian Electra – Ram It Down (feat. Mood Killer, Lil Mariko & Lil Texas) [Lil Texas Remix]
DUDA BEAT – Meu Pisêro
Everything Everything – SUPERNORMAL
Foo Fighters – Holding Poison
Gojira – Amazonia
Imagine Dragons – Follow You
Internet Money – His & Hers (feat. Don Toliver, Lil Uzi Vert & Gunna)
KennyHoopla – hollywood sucks// (feat. Travis Barker)
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – O.N.E
Koreatown Oddity, The – Breastmilk
Lil Nas X – MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)

Lorde – Solar Power
Lost Frequencies – Rise
MARINA – Purge The Poison
Mdou Moctar – Chismiten
Morray – Can’t Use Me
Natalia Lafourcade – Alfonsina y El Mar
NF – STORY
Offspring, The – This Is Not Utopia
Olivia Rodrigo – good 4 u

Pale Waves – Easy
Paul McCartney – The Kiss Of Venus (Dominic Fike)
Pete & Bas – Golf (feat. Norman Pain)
Polo G – GANG GANG (with Lil Wayne)
Royal Blood – Typhoons

Saweetie – Best Friend (feat. Doja Cat)
Selena Gomez – Adiós
Shag Rock – April Nights
Sick Individuals – Flame (feat. Ekko)
Sigrid – Mirror
Silk Sonic – Leave The Door Open
Tyler, The Creator – JUGGERNAUT (feat. Lil Uzi Vert & Pharrell Williams)
Unknown Mortal Orchestra – Weekend Run
YUKIKA – Lovemonth
Yung Skrrt – McDonalds

If I had to choose an absolute favourite, I would say that Silk Sonic are the current favourites, but The Offspring and Olivia Rodrigo are in hot competition.

Admittedly, I wouldn't necessarily say it is the strongest top 10 compared to other years, but in terms of quality across the 50 songs, it might just be the best, since I had to make 30 or so agonising cuts. The top 100 of my year-end list is going to be loaded.

Just another thing to note, it was difficult deciding between 42 Dugg and MARINA for the last top 10 spot. I ultimately decided with the latter, but it flip-flops almost every day.
