Forum - General: General Discussion - Artists most famous or signature song

When you think of an artist or group what song do you think of first and what do you think is their most famous song. I'll post some now and other members can post what they think their most famous song is and post artists and groups:

Michael Jackson
Hilltop goods
Avril lavigne
Maroon 5
Ariana grande
Mariah carey
Vanessa amorosi
Britney spears
Michael Jackson- billie jean
Sia - chandelier
Hilltop hoods - cosby sweater
Prince - purple rain
Madonna - vogue
Avril lavigne - girlfriend
Maroon 5 - moves like Jagger
Ariana grande - side to side
Mariah carey - fantasy
Vanessa amorosi - absolutely everybody
Britney spears- baby one more time

This is what I thought

Of the artists of whose back catalogue i am familiar with:

Michael Jackson - probably billie jean with beat it a close second(the two songs of his i loathe)

Sia - has to be chandelier
Prince - easily purple rain, though i wish cream got more love
madonna - could be a few tbh, probably vogue out front with hung up also there

avril - i would say complicated over girlfriend

Mariah - hero maybe?

vanessa amorosi and britney i agree with you on
I had to think about mariah carey so many to choose from. Hero is a great song, beat it is definitely second, I really like cream, I was thinking complicated as well. Here's more

Christina Aguilera candy Man
Katy perry roar
Janet Jackson that's the way that love goes
Gwen Stefani the sweet escape
Eminem love the way you lie
Rihanna umbrella
Beyonce single ladies (put a ring on it)
Lady gaga bad romance
Christina - i would say genie in a bottle or a close second beautiful
katy perru - firework maybe?
janet - quite a bit to choose from - i would say maybe nasty or what have you done for me lately
Gwen - what you waiting for..maybe? or hollaback girl...i quite like cool
eminem - lose yourself or without me
rihanna - easily umbrella
gaga - i would have thought born this way though bad romance is one of my favourites of hers
Beyonce - probably single ladies yeah, or crazy in love
Wow thanks jesse77. I forgot about firework. Or yeah beautiful is definitely another hit of Christina. Lose yourself is a signature song too.

Here's more

Chris Brown yeah 3x
Snoop dogg drop it like it's hot
Pink so what
Kelly clarkson since u been gone
Panic at the disco I write sins not tragedies
Fall out boy thnks fr th Mmrs
Spice Girls wannabe
Backstreet boys I want it that way
David Bowie let's dance
Craig David 7 days
a few artists i don't have mch familarity with their back catalogue but of the ones i do know..

Pink - Get the party started
Backstreet boys - everybody (backstreet's back)
bowie - space oddity, then heroes but of 80's material let's dance for sure

i'll add a few

Pet shop boys - go west
matchbox 20 -push
blink 182 - all the small things
natalie imbruglia - torn
cyddi lauper - girls just wanna have fun then time after time
destiny's child - say my name

These are the obvious signature songs for me. Some artists have too many strong songs. If it wasn't obvious within ten seconds, I've left the artist off this list.

Sia - Chandelier
Prince - When Doves Cry
Avril Lavigne - Complicated
Maroon 5 - She Will Be Loved
Vanessa Amorosi - Absolutely Everybody
Britney Spears - Baby One More Time
Katy Perry - Roar
Janet Jackson - That's The Way Love Goes
Gwen Stefani - What You Waiting For?
Panic! At The Disco - I Write Sins Not Tragedies
Fall Out Boy - Thnks Fr Th Mmrs
Spice Girls - Wannabe
Pet Shop Boys - West End Girls
Matchbox 20 - Push
Blink 182 - All The Small Things
Natalie Imbruglia - Torn
Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Want To Have Fun

For Rihanna, it is hard to split even between these 4 songs:
SOS, Umbrella, Don't Stop The Music, Only Girl (In The World)
Wow thanks DaveNT. Pink's get the party started is also another classic pink track. I'll go with that for her signature song. Everybody for backstreet boys is good too. Space oddity is another classic. Jesse I agree with all your songs. For matchbox 20 I was trying to think between push and how far we've come.
for matchbox 20 i'd say push then 3am. Good call dave on she will be loved. That one never occurred to me.

Inxs (a few to choose from) i'd say never tear us apart followed by need you tonight
Jimmy Barnes - working class man
Roxette - i would say joyride
Queen - bohemian rhapsody by a long stretch followed probably by killer queen
Vance joy riptide
George Ezra shotgun
Taylor swift love story
Justin timberlake what goes around comes around
Flo rida low
T pain buy you a drank
Nelly dilemma
Kelly Rowland stole
Inxs I agree with those 2 songs I'd also add original sin
Jimmy barnes I agree
Roxette the look
I agree with Queen too
Shannon noll what about me or shine
Kate bush running up that hill
The killers Mr brightside
Justin Bieber ghost
